What an interesting idea! I don’t often see grain notes.

I want them all too…good thing for me I am not really a fan, and never end up loving any when I try them! But hope for you that one or two good ones will fall in your lap.

The only Jo Malone that I plan on getting, provided that I get a bit of Christmas cash to spend without guilt, and the store is not out when I get around to it next week, is Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit! That’s a must have at some point. If it doesn’t work out this year, I can wait until it reappears in a year or two….

And I still keep meaning (and forgetting) to go try Orange Bitters!

My mom bought Orange Bitters after a sniff on a scent strip. I liked it too as it had a sufficently old-fashioned smell. (The drink, not the style.)

She says it only lasts an hour on her though and while she expects a lot out of her perfumes, I wouldn’t be surprised.

When she told me about the performance, I told her back, “I’m not surprised. Jo Malone kind of invented that.” She replied, “That’s horrible! Why would you invent that?”

I’m not a huge Jo Malone fan, but I kinda want to smell these. Don’t think I’ve ever smelled a perfume with a grain note, aside from maybe rice.

A few of the Parfumerie Generale scents have good grain notes. And there are others, just not coming to me now!

Ok I knew there was a house that had used them, but I couldn’t remember which one. Thanks

Oh yes, PG Bois Blond had a prominent wheat note that was really wonderful. I haven’t seen this one for sale anywhere for at least 2 years, and it doesn’t seem to be one of the ones he’s ‘reimagined’ in an updated version, either. This was one of the most popular of the PG line, so I’m kind of shocked that it might be permanently d/c. Sadly, I blew through my bottle years ago, and couldn’t find it again. His Cedar Sandaraque had a nice wheaty note as well, but I think that one is also d/c. Seems to be a theme in my posts today!

Isn’t there a Memo with a grain note? And that fruit loops one from Ego Facto? And I know there is one with a basmati rice note that I can’t remember.*

*This useless post brought to you by my aging memory.

Want to smell. All. Now. I love the smell of grain so much.

If these smell more like flowers and hazelnuts than oats and rye, I will be sad.

I am (was?) a huge Jo Malone fan, and I want and will try all of them but I have not more than a faint hope that it will be anything but mediocre – same as most of their limited edition collections recently. But the packaging is nice, as usual, and should they produced it as a collection of mini-bottles, I would have bought them (and several previous collections – despite being disappointed in perfumes).

I’m intrigued by the Green Wheat & Meadowsweet.

THe last Jo Malone LE I liked was Peony & Moss, and that one is SO long gone that you can’t even find it on Ebay.

With the exception of the Herb Collection, which I found refreshing and different enough to buy 3 of the 5, I have not cared for the ‘collections’ released from JM. These sound promising enough to sample, at least, especially the first two. I’ll second Sistine’s disappointment if these are just more powdery, vague ‘flower’ offerings from EL.

They all sound great. Oat& Cornflower caught my attention right away. Looking forward to sample them.

    Nice packaging!

I wish there was a straight gourmand in this collection. I would have switched the vanilla and Vetiver from Primrose & Rye and Oat & Cornflower, respectively.
