Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, and welcome to November! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm doing day 2 of my (short) fougère week, with Ineke Idyllwild.
Reminder: 11/3 will be Fougère Friday...wear a fougère, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Qeeboo Rabbit Chair was designed by Stefano Giovannoni and comes in two sizes and in a matching lamp. At Designboom.
Today’s SOTD is Creed Fleurs de Bulgarie mixed with a touch of AG’s Musc Nomade.
Nice! What a combo!!!!
Thanks! The Fleurs dries down to ambergris/musk anyway, I just added (ton!) more. 🙂
I keep forgetting to wear a fougere! SOTD is Byredo Encens Chembur.
So long as you smell good!
I do! I switched to Le Galion 222, which is a fougere according to Fragrantica and which has a similar almost sour note as Encens Chembur.

You never know when your last breath will be……….
.
A last breath with Jicky would be better than a last breath without? But is that Jicky?
Correct, Robin!
Coumarin, hay
Vanilla, a bit
Oakmoss
Emerge in the first hour.
Would be lovely to me without that $!#@ lavender
LOLOLOL
????
But that’s why they make Vanilla AND Chocolate Ice Cream.
Diversity is a good thing.
Cheers!
????
I never really did understand why they made vanilla ice cream, but ok, I’ll take your word for it 🙂
For ME !
Vanilla is my favorite, Ms. 180°!
LOLOLOL
????
????
Ya know, I’m not sure I ever have noticed lavender whenever I have tried Jicky. I’ll have to pay more attention. And YES to a good vanilla ice cream!
Yes indeedy, Jalapeno !!!
😉
Bear, you and Robin are evil ice cream twins.
😀
Seriously. My husband likes vanilla too. I don’t get it.
Ohhh, I so miss my Jicky! Sold off my vintage PdT bottle cause the hubby hated it.
SOTD: Yohji Homme (vintage) 🙂
Ah, a fougere I totally forgot!
Everyone in my social circle and family is safe after yesterday.
Monkey and chubby Buddha and I are listening to Nina Simone, but not on max volume like Bear.
After watching Natalia Vodianova’s jet lag video on Vogue yesterday (a few minutes I won’t get back in my life ) I am in Shalimar Souffle because I think that is what she is spraying in the video but I am not sure. Made me dig out my sample.
I smell like sweet lemon pie
I haven’t met a Shalimar flanker I didn’t like. No judgement.
RABBIT RABBIT RABBIT
Glad to hear your loved ones are ok.
Ok here too, but terribly heartbroken about those killed or injured, especially the 5 Argentina friends here celebrating their 30th HS reunion. Just devastating. NYC is a walking city, our sidewalks and paths are so dear to us.. this type of terror is very unsettling.
Yeah, really heartbreaking. And the kids getting out of school there who witnessed it.
Glad you’re all safe! Same here re safe. I was leaving NYU hospital yesterday and couldn’t figure out why there was so much commotion in that area. Lots of ambulances and police. Found out when I got home. So sad and scary.
Good NST folks of NYC, thanks for reporting in; I’m so glad you are safe. Hugs to you all.
Glad you guys are ok!
Its a mad world we live in, and a good reason to never save special perfumes for special occasions. You just never know.
It is good to hear that we all NSters in NY are fine. Hugs to all.
Hugs, love and positive energy to everyone in New York (and everywhere else) who needs it today.
Agreed on the Shalimar flankers so definitely no judging from me. Glad you are all safe. Such scary things happening in this world.
I didn’t realize there was a flanker to the Souffle flanker..anyone smell it yet?
I think it’s Souffle Intense, right? I have not smelled it but read on some website a while back it had less citrus and more vanilla than Souffle. Like you said, I really never met a Shalimar flanker or version I didn’t like.
yes that is the one..
I have a gift card for the Guerlain spa, and will try to use it this month. Maybe they will have it and I can try it out
Hi everyone, wearing Dior Ambre Nuit today. It’s (finally) gotten cold in NYC! I for one welcome the change in weather (more comfortable for me, and I get to break out the winter ‘fumes) … September was unnaturally warm.
you smell great!
Wearing SL Diam Blonde today.
I am fatally un-hip. What does rabbit rabbit rabbit mean? Stand for?
Click on the blue rabbit * 3 hyperlink in Robin’s initial post, and it will take you to an explanation.
You smell amazing
thanks I did not get that 🙂
Shellyw, it is silly rather than hip 🙂
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.
Wearing Calling all Angels (thanks a lot Hajusuuri!) for the peace and comfort so much needed today.
Have a good day everyone!
Yes to peace and comfort!
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! SOTD is Naomi Goodsir Or du Serail and waiting for the fruitiness to burn off. Usually I like that stage, but today all I want is the pipe tobacco vibe.
YOu smell great!
ditto
Thanks you guys! This almost never happens to me, but this morning I was standing in the back of the room for an all-employee meeting and kept smelling something fabulous. Took me quite a while to realize it was ME. Heh. 🙂
Ha! Because you smell amazing!
Woke up with the makings of a cold – blergh. So I wrapped myself up in cozy, comforting Safran Troublant and got on with it. No time to wallow.
Feel better soon. I’ve been teetering on the edge of bad cold for a few days now. I am hoping to miss getting worse.
Feel better soon. Safran Troublant is a very comfy scent. You smell good!
Oof, hope it goes away quickly!
Bkergh is right. Feel better!
I hope your immune system handles it quickly. Feel better!
Yech. I keep thinking that it is too early for crud season, and then I look at a calendar. Hope you fight it off!
Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit
It is below 0 C here in NE Canada, so wearing Chanel Cuir EDT for the 1st time this season.
Welcome real autumn with this wonderful scent.
My hubby was commenting that during his childhood Halloween would usually mean trick or treating in the snow. Canadian cold!
Stay warm
Yes. My childhood costumes were designed to wear with a snowsuit and boots 🙂
I went as a hockey player every year because it was easy to put my older brother’s jersey on over my winter jacket! And black eyes were fun to create with makeup.
My missing teeth game was on point.
So cute to imagine that! Our costumes had to work over a snowsuit too.
Ha! That is awesome. I was a hobo more than once, patches sewn on jeans and ciggy ashes smeared on face for a beard. Good times.
Ah, hockey players. So unfairly maligned. SOME of them still have all their teeth. 😉 I love that game – used to be a season ticketholder for our local junior hockey team.
My head was all a mess this morning trying to decide what to wear. In a moment of totally spontaneous grabbing, I ended up with Annick Goutal Heure Exquise edp. Not my usual for cold weather, but the bitter herbs and warm sandalwood are hitting all the right places for me today. Cheers to all & be well!
You smell lovely.
Thanks!
You smell fantastic. The EdP is really beautiful!
It is one of my HG fragrances and I don’t wear it as often as I should, so this has worked out great for me today.
I wear HE all year round, but I found out that the EdP is especially great on colder weather.
You smell so wonderful. One of my favs.
Happy “Hump Day” everyone. SOTD is White Jasmine and Mint from Jo Malone. Its a staple for my fall scent. Hope everyone has a great day.
that’s a good one..wear it well as I think it might be d/c 🙁
SOTD is Guerlain’s Encens Mythique d’Orient. Trying this once again and see if I can handle such level of animalic.
Bill, if you decide you intensely dislike it, send me an email and I will gladly take it off your hands
Oh it’s not a FB, just a sample. (I don’t think it’s something I’m willing to commit to a full bottle of. However, Rose nacrée du Désert from the same line is very high up on my wish list!)
I love Rose Nacree too!
I love this one!
Hope you enjoy it
Love this one! You smell great!
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! SOTD is Chergui- it’s cold and rainy and this hit the spot. But later I’m going to try out the SJP Stash and Stash Elixir set that I found at Marshall’s yesterday for cheap!! (It was in the men’s section, I almost missed it.)
Think I will join you in Chergui post shower.
Love Chergui and Stash both. You will smell awesome all day.
So since Bookworm got her chromatography lab technician job, we’ve been desperately trying to find her some shoes that look professional and will protect her feet… in a size 5. When she was working in her research internship at Yale, she was using steel-toe work boots, but nobody there cared what she was wearing, and now she has a dress code (khakis/chinos, collared shirt, no tennis shoes). Thank goodness for Amazon, because we just ordered her 5 pairs of shoes to try.
Last cross-country meet of the season this afternoon.
SOTD is Lolita Lempicka, licorice violet vanilla iris goodness.
Has she tried Doc Martens? They have come a long way from the basic black boots, and I believe they even come in steel toe versions.
No, she hasn’t. They’re not available locally for her to try on.
If the shoes we ordered don’t work, we’ll look into those, thanks!
I have wide feet, and find that they fit me well, if that assists in any way.
I wore that last night!
Who would think about the shoes? There is a niche for some entrepreneur to fill: fashionable steel toe shoes!
Wow, a lab with a dress code?? I spent ~12 y working in chemistry labs in academia, where obviously no one cared, but now I work in industry, and no one STILL cares! I guess I lucked out. Or maybe it’s because I’m in the Bay Area. I had no idea there were labs where people care how you dress!!!
It’s with a company that does a lot of consulting so there are clients in and out of the building all the time. I guess that’s why. (Shrug. Dunno.)
Interesting! So does my company, but I guess we just got lucky 🙂 I can’t imagine stocking my closet with enough khakis/button-downs to make wearing them to lab sustainable, but I suppose one adapts when one needs to!
Some of the KEEN models ( like Presido) have good toes but are also not too construction-boot.
I didn’t find any size 5 available… that’s US size, EU 35.
How about Dansko clogs?
We ordered a pair to try. No size 5 in stock locally.
Hi mals and bookworm! As a fellow small-foot-er I recommend Zappo’s (free shipping and returns), 6pm.com (Zappo’s discontinued site. free shipping but not free returns), and Nordstrom (free shipping and returns). I’ve pretty much given up on shoe shopping anywhere else.
I’m not quite sure if it fits the Fougère criteria but it has lots of lavender so I thought it might do. PdN Maharadjah one of my many successful blind buys, and a wonderful spicy oriental lavender.
The weather is gorgeous today and for once I’m not working on Wednesday so I’m good. Revising a text is much more fun.
Sounds lovely!
Seems like Maharadjah is discontinued right? (They have Maharanih Intense which is a different one I think.) However they do have a room spray called Maharadjah, and strangely they also have an intense version of the Maharadjah room spray (in a cool black bottle). I’m seriously considering getting a room spray and wear it on myself.
Yep, it’s discontinued as a parfum corporel but still exists as room spray and candle. The candle is wonderful as well. Maharanih is very different, very good but very different.
It’s curious that Maharadjah is the only home fragrance they have which is also in an “Intense” form.
Yes, I don’t know why that happened, I have the regular candle and it’s wonderful. It’s such a soothing scent.
I’m so sad it was discontinued. I was lucky to find a bottle on eBay this summer. It’s one of my favorites on my SO.
Kind of dragging and unfocused today, but feeling soothed by Heeley Cardinal. Maybe this is too calming, though, because I’m ready to go back to bed. 🙂
Ha! You smell great, and calm is important.
Inspired by perfumelover67 (and made possible by her generosity), I’m wearing Tauer L’Eau. Thought I’d try it out in cool weather, and it is lovely. I liked it in warmer weather but the sweetness and powderiness are suited to cooler temps. Reminds me a little of Zeta…
Peace and love to those effected by yesterday’s tragedy.
Do you think L’Eau works better for you now? It is definetely a fall-winter scent for me.
Hmmm. Not sure, though I never wore it when it was very hot, just warm. I pretty much liked it from the first try. My memory is that you weren’t quite sure about it initially?
Yes, not quite sure during spring time when I tried it first. Still it is not a favorite, but it is pretty nice now.
Peace & Love
No fougere for me today, I was craving rose & violet so I put on Arlesienne.
Nice! I need to dig out my shower cream. I like it in cold weather. Very cozy and pretty.
I had nearly forgotten that one. I used to basically live in Arlesienne body oil when I lived in France, but since moving back to the US, I haven’t sniffed that one at all. You smell lovely.
Once I get through the shower process, I’ll be twins with Robin in Idyllwild. This was a very successful blind split.
Getting out of the house today with the hubster to run a few errands.
Y’all please stay safe and warm today.
Isn’t it nice? Hope the errands are quick and stress free.
So, what is it about Idyllwild that is fougere-y?
I had to do some research on Fragrantica to be quite honest with you. Common notes are lavender, moss, coumarin and woods, especially coumarin.
I get mostly citrus, grassy notes and a bit of lavender from Idyllwild.
I was surprised that I had several samples from this group! Between the oriental fougeres and the aromatic fougeres, I came up with eight options. Whoops, sorry this is so long.
Oooh, I see. Thanks! What are your other options?
Aromatic- philtre ceylon, sauvage, Eau de lavande
Oriental- MEM,commodity book and wool, Jicky, field notes from Paris, jm Amber and lavender. ????
OOO! there is a Field Notes bottle floating around the house!! i could go with that too..thanks for the suggestion, Nancy!
Ineke must be a fan of the fougere since she’s done a few.
Derring Do was amazing…drained a full bottle
Chemical Bonding is probably my favorite from the alphabet sample set.
I’m wearing the last of my Aromatics Elixir mini. Time for a full bottle.
AE is amazing, the notes fit together perfectly. You smell fab.
AE is on my radar right now since the weather is cold. I think I’ll have to wear it tomorrow.
If you’re in the CONUS & interested, I have a new full bottle I’d be willing to possibly swap for. email me at madtolive88510 at gee male.
SotD = Bogue MEM
Woke up this morning thinking rabbit-rabbit-rabbit then MEM-MEM-MEM, a surprising and possibly fougere-ish thought. I will try to wear MEM a few days until Friday.
When I first sampled MEM in August it was quite sugary. Today the aromatic notes are shining through. Still sweet, but very nice as I love lavender. Also getting a whiff of coconut. Is it possible that ylang ylang + champaca + vanilla = coconut?
Remember NST, smelling great is our superpower, and the world needs us to do our part today and every day.
I find that I smell things that aren’t there through association! When I first sniffed Rose Jam, I smelled chocolate, because chocolate goes with rose + vanilla in my silly brain.
Smell-association makes sense, the tropical ylang + gentle jasmine in MEM are probably making me think of coconut.
If allowed, my brain could associate anything with chocolate
Haha 🙂
You smell lovely-lovely-lovely.
thx thx thx!
how’s your ouchie? doing ok?
Yes, I’m doing ok, learning the workarounds for daily activities. Back to the ortho next Tuesday for more X-rays. Thanks for asking!
Ambre de Merveilles for me today–so nice for dreary fall weather
Ah. Should dig out my sample
you smell great, this one is so nice.
I love that one so much. A great amber.
You smell YUMMY.
Wearing the comforting When We Cuddle with a heavy heart for NYC. ????
such a mad world.. at least we smell good
Yes, sadly at times.
So happy you and your family are safe…wishing you peace and comfort.
My SOTD is Zoologist Elephant.
Tell us about it, please!
Ooh! Is it good????
I like it. It starts off really green and gradually transitions to a kind of buttery sandalwood with a light dusting of dry cocoa. The notes list coconut milk, but I don’t pick it up distinctly. It might be there blending into the sandalwood accord.
Does it seem sweet to you? It doesn’t to me. Its almost like someone decided to make a comfort scent with absolutely zero sweetness. Once it dries down, it just hums along, quietly. I like it, too.
No, it’s not sweet to me. The cocoa facet I mentioned is more like the texture of cocoa powder to me more than actually smelling like cocoa. It is quiet. After the initial blast, I almost forget I have it on unless I put my wrist close to my face.
Ahaaa, the texture of cocoa powder. I totally get it and totally agree!
I continue to defy the CP (not least out of ignorance; does Idyllwild qualify as a fougere? that’s the only thing I have that I can even imagine would work) and today am wearing the delicious, comforting Chergui. Actually, I’m wearing four sprays of Chergui, which is rather a different beast. It really amps up the tobacco/incense/sandalwood.
I just looked up the notes for Chergui on fragrantica, and vanilla isn’t listed. That just boggles my mind. It’s like the time I looked up Cuir de Lancome and it didn’t list leather and I thought I was going crazy (except less extreme).
It is a fougere. And we are not being picky anyway 🙂
But WHY is it a fougere? Which of the things I’m smelling is fernlike? Have you ever gotten a fougere scent from an actual fern?
My (limited) understanding of fougere, and I’m ducking here in case fougere-lovers throw shoes at me, is that it’s basically the smell of Men’s Perfume. Your Drakkar Noirs, your Adidas Whatever Sports.
Like, there’s a structure to it (lavender, and other stuff I’d have to google – no fern that I know of) but basically whenever you sniff the air and are like, “a dude has overapplied nearby,” that is the smell of fougeres. I’m sure there are great ones! I’m not trying to put them all down, but if you’re trying to learn to identify what is one, that is the best way I personally have been able to stamp the concept on my brain.
thank you as now I know that I have something to wear on Friday 🙂
I assume it is Adidas Whatever Sport 😉
Ahahaha thanks for that wonderful explanation!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foug%C3%A8re
Haha, I didn’t think Wikipedia would have a perfume-based explanation, but I should never have doubted the power of the people 🙂
That’s a great article! Thanks, cm8!
Repeating what I said in yesterday’s poll, in case it helps anyone:
A classic fougere will have lavender, woods, oak moss, coumarin, bergamot — some people called it the masculine version of a chypre, but that’s a little misleading since there are feminine fougeres and masculine / unisex chypres. Jicky is a fougere, as is Maja, & so are things like Brut & Stetson & Old Spice — lots of the classic men’s fragrances.
I am wearing Shaal Nur – I was inspired by Lucasai’s incense project to wear it. It is so incredibly lovely, and just what I needed this morning to ground and balance myself.
I hope November is a wonderful, peaceful month for everyone! Have a great day.
Yum, you smell great!
I’m wearing DSH Mata Hari today. I can’t believe it’s November already.
I’m in the fougere-ish Gris Clair. My SO is off work today and was still in bed when I was getting ready. This was the easiest to find in the dark of my fougeres. I smell warm and lovely.
Perfect — I was thinking of wearing that this week!
Reine de Nuit extrait
you smell lovely.
Thank you…I actually got a compliment at work 🙂
and wait…Robin, those are chairs???I thought they were candy-LOL!
They are chairs!!
You smell gorgeous! The person who complimented you was very astute.
If I continue with the decanting, I’ll have Seville a L’Aube on me. Otherwise, I may do Burberry Brit Rhythm- I don’t think it’s a fougere but it’s heavy on the lavender.
So heartsick over yesterday’s attack. I first heard because a friend in OK texted to see if we were okay. I knew that meant something happened. That path on the Hudson is such a beautiful spot.
I smell lavender and I think fougere, so why not!
And with you on the heartsick. It’s all just too much.
I am wearing Vanille 44 today and relieved that our NYC NSTRs are safe.
you smell great!
Still not up to spraying perfume, my virus has relapsed badly. A bit of Costes body oil.
Hope you feel better soon!
Oh, no! Not good ???? I hope you feel better? Maybe an MD is in order?
I have an appt. next Wednesday. I figure I’ll either be dead or well by then. No fever so it’s not likely pneumonia.
Get well soon!
Oh no! That sounds like it could be serious!
I hope you feel better soon! And be careful. I’ve had students getting pneumonia here.
Today I’m wearing MFK Oud.
you smell wonderful.
Me too, twin! We smell great!
Delicious!
L’artisan Tenebrae, houndstooth blazer, paul green boots, TF Lips & Boys Guillermo.
How is Tenebrae?
I think it’s pretty nice, just using up a sample I got from Scent Bar. It’s fairly straightforward with notes of woodiness, incense, sap, and resin–but not heavy.
Thanks.
Dont know that fragrance but you sure look stylish 🙂 and great lipstick! I have Mitchell, its my most worn lipstick, its a few shades darker than my own lip colour and so comfy, perfect for work.
Thanks! and I like Mitchell too, the berry color is great for fall!
I really love TF lipsticks. Probably the single most wearable line for me. But I don’t own any of the boys. Must fix that!
Have you tried others in the series of the L’Artisans? I love the bee bottle, and have one of Violaceum.
Nice outfit!
I don’t have anything that I know of that counts as a fougere. I’ll keep looking through the sample stash for Friday, though. For today, I had to go with Lonesome Rider. It’s been a month or longer since I’ve worn it and it is so good on a cold morning!
I thought there were only Aromatic Fougeres but I just found out today about Oriental Fougeres so I now have more choices but I am still not committed to wearing one on Friday.
Hello, all, from a subdued and embarrasses Waterdragon. I need a perfume that blots out utter mortification…the viva was awful. AWFUL. I’ve never before sat through three hours of such gruelling frustration and growing anger. My student didn’t answer the questions she was asked, just kept repeating that she had done this and that, so by implication the examiners were wrong and misguided. The only good thing was that she didn’t directly abuse the examiners. Outcome was six months to carry out some fairly major amendments, but she thinks she can do them in less than a month. Sigh. I will have to face that battle today, I suppose.
What perfume do you wear to forget an experience? Should I add this to my list of perfumes that don’t exist but should? Nothing suggests itself to me, so I’m blindly grabbing, and I have…No 22. Lovely. All that sandalwood; all those aldehydes, all the pretty flowers; yes, this will do nicely as my Scarlett O’Hara scent. Today is another day, new battles and new ideas; tomorrow will be too, and I’ll cope with both as they come.
Titus has a new best friend, a BIC disposable razor that the dear man uses when we travel. He is currently carrying it around and occasionally putting it down between his paws and growling at the other two if they come too close. Clearly, this is a case of, “My Razor—you get your own.” Kittens help with bad experiences. I wish I could be in the moment like them!
Be well, all.
Aaarrrrrggggh!
Oh my goodness. I’d never thought of what it must be like to be the advisor of a student who does poorly at a defense. Your stories of this particular student just fill me with horror. I’m SO glad you’ve got these lovely kittens to take your mind off of her. Just six more months of her, and then you’ll be free! (Oof, that sounds like a long time.)
Oh nooooo I was so hoping you’d be free of her. I’m sure none of the examiners blame it on you!!!!!
Some people just won’t listen or accept advice. That sounds awful.
Terrifyng! Hopefully time will pass quickly.
You need to carry a water pistol and squirt her when she gets unruly. And fun-size chocolate treats when she behaves acceptably. Channel your inner Pavlov. And if that doesn’t work, try Chanel and pavlova.
I have water pistols for the kittens…it never occurred to me to use one on her, but I think you’re right. It’s a non-harming form of behaviour modification that would give all the rest of us some peace. And I have to say, I would really using enjoy it, but then, as she said to me yesterday, I am not at all a nice person.
I vote for paint balls, myself.
I would take that as a compliment. It sounds like if she likes you, you must be an a*+!hole.
It’s a good thing you have the kittens and your dear man to come home to after that debacle. I pity that student’s future employers…
How awful for you. This student sounds like a true and terrible nightmare — and abusive to boot. I am so sorry.
One of my kitties loves loves loves to carry chopsticks around, as if he is holding a bar in his mouth as he walks a tightrope. He will dig them out of the dishwasher, get them out of the sink, climb onto the stove to remove them from a pan. Fortunately, no injuries have been sustained, or not that I know of!
After forgetting to spray perfume in my mad dash this morning, I’m now happily wafting a cloud of Epic at home, looking forward to a cosy evening involving a roaring fire, a cup of tea, and a good drama on the telly.
sounds very cozy
Every bit of that sounds heavenly. Enjoy your evening!
Had to make a six hour round trip to Invercargill yesterday…the bottom if the world…to see my husband’s surgeon for a follow up. Beautiful green pastures all the way south, rolling hills and such fresh air. Was told that Alex’s pelvis is healing well but the hip is munted and needs replacing in the next few months…bit sobering for a 49 year old to hear. So a bit glum today but wearing Coromandel…what a stunner.
It sounds as if Alex has some way to go yet, sorry to hear that.
So sorry to hear about his hip! I hope he is recovering well other wise, including emotionally. I’m sure this whole thing had been very hard him, as well as the whole family. Sending you all good health vibes✌????
So sorry about the obstacles. Disappointing, I’m sure. Hoping for the best for you guys.
So sorry to read this 🙁 Invercargill is just the loveliest name for a place, though. Hope things go smoothly.
So sorry about it. Sending positive thoughts.
Too bad about the disappointing news from the MD.
Ahh, so sorry. Hope YOU are doing ok and getting the support you need.
Sending comforting and positive vibes to you and Alex.
What a lovely sounding drive and I am just sorry that there was bad news at the doctor. I will say that the new hip replacement surgeries are pretty miraculous. My constantly-on-his-feet chef brother had one and was back on his feet literally in days. Another extremely active friend had exercised his hip to nothing and also had an amazingly quick recovery and back to over-exercising time. But I know that’s hard to think about when the pelvic injury is still healing. Best to you both!
So sorry you are glum, and admit I would be too — hopefully it is all onwards & upwards from here!
Sorry that he’s had this set-back. I’m sending healing thoughts to both of you as it is also alot of work being a care-giver as well.
So sorry about the bad news on the hip. Sending you both positive calming vibes.
SotD Vetiver blanc, sultan pasha
I really dont know if there is a fougere somewhere in my sea of samples…..somehow that genre is neglected by me. Maybe because is dont like lavender thar much?
Hmm according to Fragrantica Fou d’Absinthe is an aromatic fougère. I wore that one last saturday!
And Fou d’absinthe has zero lavender as far as i can tell…
Tobacco Vanille for me today. I’m in the mood for something sustantial.
And you found it 🙂
All Saints’ Day.
Just came back from a visit at my grandparents’ graves.
It’s an important day for me.
Calling All Angels soothes the senses.
Peace to you, lucasai.
✌
????
Perfect scent choice✌????
Twins. Peace and love to you!
Peace and respect to you and your ancestors.
I am so glad that you are able to visit them. My parents and some of my siblings are all buried together some distance from where I now live, but I just lit a candle with thoughts of them after reading your post. All best to you and your family.
Dang! I forgot the rabbits again! Oh well…
SOTD is nothing yet. It’s going to be Taklamaken when I get out of here. I had the misfortune of dropping my phone in the toilet yesterday. Totally kaput. So, had to go get a new phone this morning and now I’m sitting in urgent care because overnight I seem to have developed a dental abscess. It’s been a tricky Halloween this year.
Looking forward to a healthy spritz of Takalamaken for sure!
Smell well!
Oof to all of that! Sorry about all the tricks. But you’ll smell like a treat!
Oh no 🙁 🙁 I hope the rest of the week goes more smoothly 🙁
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. Feel better soon!
Yikes! Hope the evening is better.
Oh, ewwwwwwww on both your phone mishap and the abscess! Sure hope that tomorrow is better for you.
Ouch!! Get well soon. Sorry the phone drowned. I dropped my favorite pen in the toilet this morning, so I feel a small bit of your pain.
Oh man, what a terrible couple of days! Hope they improve drastically stat. (Sorry, I watch too many hospital shows!)
Oh, no! I hope you feel better soon! I guess you still have a few days to recover before your new assignment begins, but I’m sure you had other things in mind. ????
Eeeek! Get well soon, Deva!
Oh dear! That’s a bad day! Hope that tomorrow is much better for you.
Late late late…..Post-Halloween dragging this morning! 🙂
Wearing Chanel Gabrielle. This is soooooo pretty…..8 hours in, I can still smell it close to my wrist. NICE!!
I will have to give it a test drive ….
You smell lovely!
SOTD was Atelier des Ors “Larmes du Desert”.
Top: incense and cypress;
Mid: patchouli, guaiac wood and cedar;
Base: citruses, amber, benzoin and woody notes.
A faint echo of a lovely perfume. I have yet to wear a benzoin-forward scent that lasts any time on my skin.
SOTE is Serge Lutens “Santal de Mysore”.
Notes are sandalwood, caraway, spices, benzoin and styrax.
A nice thing happened today that I want to share, because we really hear too much about rare-but-awful things. An invoice payment was due to me, and I knew my client had a very temporary cashflow issue. So, I just did the decent thing and said I could wait a week (anyone who works in Accounts Payable will know a week’s delay is barely worth mentioning). Anyhow, my client appreciated this so much they paid my invoice in full, including some work that they weren’t going to be able to rebill and technically need not have paid me. That’s nearly €1000 out of goodwill, just for showing a little patience and understanding.
Karma Baby !
????
You said it ????. What goes around comes around..
That is such an awesome story! And yes, a little good news is sorely needed right now.
Fabulous! You wouldn’t think so from reading the news, but most people really ARE nice.
The night I had to evacuate due to wildfire, the hotel I found had just one room left, the ‘executive suite’. Certainly fancier than I and my cats needed, but when you need a hotel room where they will allow pets, and it’s 2am, how much choice do you have? So I agreed of course… and the girl at the desk knocked 15% off just because of the fire. Then the next day, my vet boarded my cats for free for the day. There’s plenty of good in the world when you have a mind to look for it 🙂
My company provided a total of multiple million financial assistance / grants, housing, subsidized meals and additional paid time off to employees impacted by the fires and the Hurricanes. Most were appreciative but we also have a number of employees just looking for a handout.
Yay for the decent thing — and for the decent thing come back to you!
Scentless yet, and for about 30 hours I had no sense of smell at all because of my cold and stuffy nose. It was very scary – like someone suddenly turned off my sense of smell. And about 30 minutes ago I suddenly got it back – YES!!! Anosmia is terrible, and being able to smell things again and enjoy the flavors of my food is wonderful. I keep sniffing things and grinning happily. 😀
What a scare!
It was, Jalapeno. Especially after googling and reading depressing stories of people staying anosmic for weeks, months, years, forever!
I’ve just dabbed on some Odori Spigo (it’s 1 a. m. so technically it’s Thursday already, but I’ll count this one as a delayed Wednesday SOTD). A fougere according to Fragrantica but does not smell really fougerish to me. Good sweet lavender.
Very scary. I am glad that it was short lived.
Wow, so glad for you! That would scare me too.
Forgot about rabbit3X today. I woke up feeling a little chilled and not quite right, but a hot shower and some chicken soup took care of that. I’m relieved to hear from all the NYC NSTers that you all are in one piece after yesterday.
SOTD = trying Jubilation XXV from the sample stash. Got inspired by Lucasai wearing incense this week. I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about XXV.
Oh, I do like that one! Is it too much of everything, or too masculine?
Definitely not too masculine in my book… it could easily pass as unisex or shared to my nose. I think there is one note that doesn’t play well with the others. Kind of a “What is THAT doing in there??” However, I will retry the sample.
Late to the party, busy day at work. SOTD is SL Feminite du Bois, always a winner. I trawled thru Fragrantica’s fougere list, and I have only a few… now if only I remember to wear one on Friday, that will be an accomplishment.
I’m contentedly drifting along in Robin’s wake, happy to have someone else making scent decisions for me. 🙂 Today I copied her scent from yesterday (Covet) and tomorrow I’ll wear Idyllwild, as she has done today.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?
Right! Hope you’re doing well, FearsMice!
Thank you, Hajusuuri; I’m managing to breathe and remain upright most days, so I figure I’m not doing too badly…
Hope you are well, too!
If it helps, I think tomorrow we’re wearing Peau de Pierre? If you don’t have that one, Prada Amber Pour Homme would be the closest substitute? And I think the newer Prada L’Homme is also a fougere. Or there’s Sienne L’Hiver? Any takers??
Oy! I completely forgot about the rabbit thing!
SOTD = Patricia de Nicolai Amber Oud
According to Fragrantica, this is Oriental Woody. I beg to differ — there is nothing Woody about this. Lavender is so prominent that I would classify it as Oriental Fougere, if there is such a thing.
Yesterday’s SOTD was Rania J. Ambre Loup. Love. I have at most 2 more wearings from my decant before moving on to using my FB.
I’m wearing MEM today. It’s listed as an Oriental Fougere on Fragrantica.
Oooh yeah! I just looked and I actually have more Fougere options than I originally thought!
Based on lucasai’s comment earlier this week i went with incense for All Saints. Passage d’Enfer in the morning and Voix Humaine in the late afternoon. Ahhhh ????
