Happy World Day for Audiovisual Heritage! It's also Guessing Game Friday. Our community project for today: describe your perfume to us, OR, give your perfume the name it ought to have had, and we'll see if we can guess what it is.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
My fragrance: sumi ink, spices, incense. Really, I would have called it Ink and put it in a Japanese ink bottle.
Reminder: 11/3 will be Fougère Friday...wear a fougère, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the glasses were designed by the same brand that makes my fragrance, and are produced by Cutler & Gross, $440.
This is fun!
comme des garçon 2?
Mine is: waiting for something in an Italian iris field, with a glass of champagne in one hand and a bunch of white flowers in the other.
Ha, I was too easy!
Iris with champagne. It’s sad that there’s an iris I can’t guess right off the top of my head, but I think I need my second cup of tea to get my brain working.
…grinning fiendishly …
Encre Noir Lalique.
If you’re answering to me, nope! (yours is very cryptic too, no idea)
Actually, Robin…but I think I’m doubly incorrect.
😉
Masque Milano ATTESA?
I didn’t realize your guess was correct for Robin..
More coffee, STAT !!!!
😉
AngelaB – yes, of course!
L’Atessa!
Spelled wrong!
AngelaB was first!
You smell marvelous Bee! It is lovely!!
Those glasses are cute and remind me of a pair my youngest had as a toddler. Hers were from baby gap and cost nowhere near $440. No good guesses on your perfume Robin.
I am in a boozy, cinnamon scent from a niche house that also bears the name of one of my favorite stores.
J Crew + Arquiste 57?
Yes! A blind buy success!????????
Triple strength coffee.
Extra long workout.
Soundtrack for workout and SOTD before shower…………
……..when we turn on the Thin White Duke, making sure white stains…………..
Metallic.
Salty.
Wan flowers.
😉
Carpe Diem.
Peace.
????
Okay, I’ll just make a stab: Secretions Magnifiques.
Your stab is a bullseye!
????
????
Metallic/salty/pale flowers is SO NOT what that one was like on me… but the reports I’ve read are either that salty-metal floral or something Completely Different, as I got. 🙂
That’s great it starts with an earthquake
Birds, snakes, an airplane
Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Apocalypse Now should be a perfume moniker.
🙂
I feel fine……….
Got the song in my head but not the perfume. Will be following for the answer!
ELDO La Fin du Monde!
Correct!
nice ear worm for a Friday! 🙂
Peaches, spicy cinnamon, vanilla. Chypre. Classic
Tea Sakura 2000
Paint the town lippy
Mitsouko?
Ding Ding
Too easy!
Ok – this is my first try: on a recent motorcycle trip w/ hubby in the southwest, I came across an endless field on either side of the road of the wildly blooming bush, which was very fragrant, especially after the rainstorm that followed us from Wyoming into Colorado and New Mexico. As we crossed the New Mexican border we stopped just to smell them so fresh and clean! This plant also goes by another name, more Mediterranean. You can also burn it in Native American cleansing ceremonies. The second clue: as we made our way to Santa Fe we stayed at a SPA which burned this wood every evening in the fire pit, a local pine, whose incense I am NOW addicted to and is named after an old tv western. Clue #3, part of the name includes what a motorcycle or car does when you start it. Great memories, a great new release and a beautiful new FB!!
Can you guess it?
I don’t know what it is but now I want to try it, wonderful description!
I’m guessing the plant is creosote but I’m stumped on the perfume… La Curie Larrea has a good creosote note but it’s not that new…
Dame Monsoon?
Wait a sec, that doesn’t go with Clue #3…. Rev, rev something. Hmmmm….
Reve d’Ossian?
Naw, that’s not a new release.
Something to do with juniper?
Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie?
AH..but that doesn’t match the first clues.
Hmm..
Fumerie Turque by SL?
It’s Idyllwild from Ineke !
It has sagebrush, also known as Artemisia, and is usd in Native American cleansing ceremonies ( that smells lovely as is burned in many Pueblos too) the smoke is Ponderosa pine- sometimes mentioned in the description but Imhave seen it referred to as fir in the notes also.
Mine’s easy: popular cosmetics company, it’s name eponymous with it’s female founder, who famously thought women should buy perfume for themselves rather than waiting for a man to gift it. She created this bath product first to ease the way.
Robin, you smell fabulous, CdG 2 is one of my favorites, just wore it last week and as always had to smile at it’s wonderful weirdness 🙂
Estee Lauder Youth Dew.
Of course, and it’s the bath oil worn as perfume.
I have the bath oil but not the perfume – do you think there is any significant difference when wearing as perfume?
My Godmother’s signature scent is Youth Dew! You smell beautiful!
Frankincense, woods, patchouli, juicy fall fruits…
Is it Black Cashmere?
Nope!
Patch Flash?
No!
SL De Profundis?
No!
Femininite du Bois?
Nope!
For mine think glamorous Duchess leaving her Parisian mansion to spend the summertime in her castle in Normandy. Her perfume depicts and captures the smell of sweet pea with the most luxurious olfactory rendition possible.
Sweet pea makes me think of Francis Kurkdjian. Don’t see how My Burberry is a Parisian mansion or a castle in Normandy. Could be 754, which I’ve never smelled, or even Carven Le Parfum.
Hi, it was Caron Pois de senteur, quite underrated i yet I was told a few times a few years back it was the fountain parfum best seller
Ah, interesting. Would not have guessed it was their bestseller, either.
This feminine rose is not a thorn in my side.
Wow, that’s hard.
Ineke Briar Rose?
Czech & Speake Dark Rose ?
An animal that is also a perfume ingredient.
Balsamic, resinous, ambery.
Civet? Zoologist?
Yes!
Zoologist Civet?
Yess 😀
Iris pallida surrounded by soft sweet flowers, a dash of spice and woods. A bit quiet, melancholic. Dry. Low sillage, but i can still smell it after 7 hours.
From a French brand and a very very famous nose.
Hermessence Iris Ukiyoe
So close!
But Ukiyoe is more ‘transparent’ imo, more air and water (if this makes any sense).
This scent has something earthy, grounded by woods and green (vetiver?).
28 La Pausa Chanel.
Nope….
(Still need to try La Pausa btw)
since you said “so close” to the first guess, could it be Hiris instead?
Nope, but ukiyoe is close as in same aesthetic/same perfumer 😀
Thats a major clue i think 🙂
TDC Bois d’Iris?
Yesss! 😀
O, Dark green gemstone
Submerged in resinous black
But your face is gold
This haiku is my idea of the perfume I am wearing today. Did I make it hard for you this time?
Atelier Cologne: Emeraude Agar in its golden bottle, isn’t it?
You are correct! Didn’t expect such an early guess though. Well done
I recently bought a sample of Emeraude Agar. I really enjoy wearing it.
Would have not been able to guess, but love the haiku!
Thank you
Lubin Black Jade?
Colognissimo got it right already
Lipstick, violets, rose. Bears the name of a complicated woman.
Le Parfum de Therese from Frederic Malle
Good guess, but no.
Maybe Miriam?
Chanel Misia?
Correct!
eau de gaga?
Misia is my guess too. Is that a complicated woman’s name?
Misia? Love it.
A piquant grass-and-hay concoction that is one of my very favorites even though it makes me a bit sneezy. From a small niche house in a particular American city. There’s an article of clothing in the name.
Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Celadon: A Velvet Green??
No — it is a natural perfumer, but not DSH. It shares its name with a children’s book the NYT review of which describes the main character “wandering in a cypress swamp.”
Providence Perfume Moss Gown?
That’s it!
Nice, I liked your clue.
1)
My SOTD is a perfume meant to be worn with a sequined, ruffled dress and feathers in your hair.
2) Bonus:
I am riding my horse through an iris patch while eating rice pudding that has been dusted with cocoa.
3) Bonus: Alternate name for a perfume:
Violetts and Mulch
I am only wearing the first scent. The others are just for fun. ????
1) Diva?
2) parfum de empire equestrius?
3) SL Bois de Violette?
You have both bonus questions correct!
whoop whoop!
Rumba?
Good guess!
Is it HdP Moulin Rouge?
Yes! Elisa is right!
Yay!!! ????
Elisa P would be cleaning up if we had $$$ riding in this….
Haha! Since I have no natural talents, I’ll take it where I can get it.
What I’m wearing: a classic, (I’d even say symbolic) perfume of a woody note.
Samsara?
No. Hint: that woody note doesn’t exactly come from wood.
Something vetiver, since vetiver is classified as a woody note, but is botanically a grass.
Guerlain ?
Or patchouli.
True dat, Robin.
Guerlain Vetiver?
Yes it’s Guerlain Vetiver!
I smell of an orange grove – orange leaf, orange blossom, orange rind, orange pulp, orange bark, a bit of moss at the bases of the orange trees, maybe even a touch of soil. Love it.
Diptyque Eau des Sens?
Oh, man – now I have to try that one!
It’s true, this guessing game is a great way to find other perfumes one might like!
Azemour?
There it is! Ding ding!
Dilettante?
And will have to try this one too! (Robin, was that your plan all along?!?)
Riddle me this: launched in 1999, some call it a synthetic mess. I say it keeps me flying high with its peachy keen notes. This Friday project is so fun!
Rush!
Haha! Yes!
Lillyjo=Rush ????
A poem is the clue:
There once was a gal named Gabrielle
whose fragrances always smell swell
100 years later they thrive
(My SOTD is in the bestselling top five)
I’m wearing _________ EdT by Chanel! 🙂
It’s gotta be No.5?
Yes indeed! 🙂 GOOD STUFF!
+1 for No. 5, you smell fab.
+2 I wore some of the edp after a shower last night.
Love the poem!
I enjoyed your poem 🙂
I’ve never been to Morocco but this perfume makes me want to go to this place. How do you pronounce it again? Did I spell it wrong AGAIN?! And layered with this, Hallelujah it’s good!
Yesterday was my Friday and will be spending the day with my niece who is visiting. Maybe drop in to Twisted Lily this eve for the Sniffapalooza kick-off. I’m not attending the main events this year but no ticket necessary to drop by TL for sniffing and eats and bevvies and perfumistas! Anyone going?
I think you’re wearing the same thing as me!
Nope, I guessed wrong 🙂
Is it Ouarzazate (I had to look up the spelling, hah!)
Haha! Yes!! Thankfully it’s in my keyboard memory since I’ve typed it numerous times.
The layering agent is still to be guessed…
Hmmm… Avignon?
Your favorite layering agent for your SOTD is Aftelier Ancient Resins. ????
Yes!!!! I might have mentioned that once ????
Tauer’s LDDM?
Sterling 925 got it!
I’m in a well-loved niche that is something of a modern classic. It’s inspired by a part of the world that I’m guessing many of us have never visited.
Dzongkha ?
Timbuktu?
Timbuktu?
LADDM?
You got it!
Istanbul!
Rahat Loukhoum?
Not Constantinople. 🙂
:)))
L’Artisan Traversee du Bosphore?
Ding! Ding! Ding! Sweetgrass is correct. First time to wear this from a decant I got a few weeks ago. It went on and seemed too sweet, but in the dry down, I’m getting the spice and possibly the tobacco.
What i am wearing today: I am not a fan of the genre, but this one is pretty good: a fresh breeze; salty and oceanic.
Sel Marin?
Exactly! Wanted to be an easy one 🙂
Yay!
Eau de Merveille?
I’m wearing a chilly beach. Behind me is a marsh with wildflowers and herbs.
Hmmm. Dune?
Nope. Think of a beach in Brittany.
Fleur de Sel?
Yes!
An ode to the flower of antiquity’s Grasse.
Eau d’Italie Paestum Rose?
Spot on! I already started to fear I picked something too difficult!
A soft, delicate, pretty and very expensive rose.
MDCI Rose di Siwa? (I love that one.) Or that Shiseido Japan-exclusive thingy, what is it… White Rose?
Yep! You got it in one! Rose de Siwa it is.
MDCI Rose de Siwa?
Yes, see my answer to Mals above. It’s such a beauty.
Yep, she beat me to it. You smell lovely!
FM Une Rose? But maybe that’s not so delicate…
No, Une Rose is great, but delicate it isn’t, very expensive though and big.
Hello
I am enjoying reading all the comments.
I am wearing a very luminous perfume , the nose has a daughter who is also a perfumer.
VC&A First?
Something by JC Ellena? Many are quite luminous, so I’m stuck
Is it a Goutal?
JC Elena surely. Hermes? Muguet Porcelain?
I’m going to guess 24 Faubourg.
Parent-teacher conferences at the high school today. Wearing this sadly-discontinued scent that smells of buttery-soft leather handbag with face powder.
Cuir d’Lancome (wrong spelling)
Got it! And not wrong spelling, though I think it’s “de” instead of d’Lancome (I can’t do the diacriticals on this keyboard).
Ok, here’s the name my perfume should have had: Lys épicé dans l’eau salée
(Please pardon the potentially bad translation!)
Donna Karan Gold?
Nope!
Lys med?
This would be my guess too.
Close! I also have and love Lys Mediterranee… this one is a little sweeter.
Vanille Galante?
Yes, you guessed it!
Wow, it is really different on me than it is on you and austenfan!
Guess my SOTD:
This perfume is named for the animal that might have been used to transport some of its fragrant ingredients through the desert in times long past.
Bonus hint: Dromedary or Bactrian
Camel Zoologist.
Ding ding ding!! You are correct!
Zoologist Camel
Yes!
SotD could have been named Beach Walk, or more likely Promenade à la Plage.
Hope this is an easy one to guess. The answer is over on basenotes as my SOTD. I’m tiffanie there too.
tgif! I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s clues, guesses, and answers later today.
Your basenotes clue is easy… so I’ll let someone else spell it out 🙂
(based on the description alone I would never have guessed it, btw)
yeah, there’s no sunscreen, coconut, or tropical flowers in this one.
After I posted I thought perhaps I should have said the scent is my idea of a perfect beach walk – walking on sand and past driftwood, eating an orange, while salty air meets the breeze from a pine forest.
There you go Hermes Eau de Merveilles.
😉
yes! Glad you chimed in. 🙂
Creamy rich violet with animalic presence
Jolie Madame?
Whatever it is, that description sounds good.
Mmm, Le Dix?
Hint-American female perfumer
Maybe it’s by Soivohle, but I can’t seem to figure out the perfume.
Nope
SOTD was Indigo Vanilla from EnVoyage
Oh, good to know. I’ve never tried it and would never have guessed it.
The head of a famous fashion house claims that my “privé” SOTD was made just for HIM but clearly he’s deluded since it was made for ME.
Armani Prive?
You’ve got the right line. Now which scent? You have to remember my favorite notes to get this. Hint: I find it calm cool and collected. Theoretically it’s masculine, but foo on that.
Bois d’Encens
Ding ding ding! We have a winner! 🙂
Malle Dries van Noten?
meant for Pixel
Nope. Hint: the fashion house is Italian.
Hi all, my SOTD has spicy greens, florals, leather, oceanic notes and lavender.
Whatever it is, I want some!
Clinique Wrappings!
I have several bottles, let me know if you want some!
head to toe in body cream, hair oil and EDP in a soft, diffuse, sweet, “earthy” musk scent from one of my favorite American perfumers.
Dame Earth Mother?
Correct!!!!!
I love to wear Earth Mother after a shower. Such a snuggly fragrance.
yes! it is definitely a “cuddlefluff” fragrance…but also a great wear to the office no brainer.
He doesn’t sell scented body creams & oils, surely? Did you make the scented body products with the perfume, then?
No, he actually sent me the body cream and the hair oil as a “Lab tester” but they are now on the website…man, I am loving all three (including the EDP) but once my travel sizes run dry I am NOT going to make full bottle purchases even though I might be tempted because the prices are really good. I actually use the hair oil everywhere including as a base to prolong the EDP on my scent eating skin. I had an important meeting this morning and Earth Mother was PERFECT because it smells great but sits close enough to the skin so as not to offend anyone.
After meeting four sprays of Tauers LDDM….the Tauer’s are a bumpy ride for me but the drydown of the four samples I have are sublime….AND two sprays last 12 hours, which is a miracle for my scent eating skin.
OH NO, this is going to make my life so difficult. He’s got hair oil and body creams in Dark Horse & Desert Rose, which might be my favorites. Ahhhhh why did you tell us?!?! He even has small sizes of the lotions 🙁 What kind of container does the body cream come in?
I am so sorry!!!! i am also trying to avoid temptations these days 🙂
The travel container is plastic and white.
My SOTD is a lovely and hard to obtain comfort scent by an independent perfumer who is much loved by perfumistas. Notes are vanilla, benzoin, musk and amber.
It should have been named When I Break My Arm and I Need Something Snuggly to Help Me Sleep.
Yup, fell down, went boom on Tuesday. ????
Ow, sorry about your arm! When we cuddle I smell your perfume on my clothes by Tauer?
You are correct! ????
And thank you.
Oh no! So sorry about your arm. But lucky you to have gotten your hands on some of that. Do you like it?
I love it. Swapped for some in the swapmeet, which really birthed a lemming. It’s very soft and easy to wear, and I can still detect it in the morning.
Luckyscent is carrying this one plus the other two Stories, for a month only to celebrate their 15th anniversary. I’m very remiss in not posting the info as a PSA!
I’d be more than happy to send you some if you’re interested. I still owe you some dark chocolate, if I remember correctly. Pretty sure I can train the hubster to make a decant. ????
Oof, how awful 🙁 Sorry to read this!
Ouch. Hope you heal soon.
Sorry about your arm. I hope you can get some rest over the weekend, to let your body heal.
Heal quickly, Nancyleandros !
I say to the Gods, (they don’t listen often, but nothing ventured, nothing gained).
Cheers!
????
I hope you heal quickly.
But at least you have a fitting scent to accompany this process 🙂
Ouch! I hope you heal quickly! Comfort scents are in order…
Yikes! Hope your break heals well and quickly!
Luxurious Italian leather done just right. 🙂
Bodega Vendetta?
LOL on the auto correct! Yes, Bottega Veneta. 🙂
Ha! spelled it sooo wrong but made it funny!
Meant: Bottega Veneta
I liked the first spelling better???? It’s definitely a contender for my fantasy band name.
My SotD does not get a lot of love here and rightfully so haha, but I’m wearing it anyway to use it up. It’s mainly sweet vanilla and fruit to me with a little flowers. It’s by a French design house and is a flanker to an iconic perfume, but is nothing like it (in my opinion). It’s not what I’d consider a scrubber, just terribly sweet and boring.
Black Opium?
Ha! Yup!
Yay! I wear It a lot. To me it’s the perfect mix of sweet and boring. Lol!
Ha! Like I said, it’s not bad to me, just so many things I’d rather be wearing! Someone gave it to me though, and I’m sentimental, thus keep it and wear it occasionally and think of them. 🙂
You smell lovely.
I’m wearing something that has a Russian allusion, is by a French exclusive/expensive perfumer, and has a lot of amber.
Ambre russe?
MFK Ciel de Gum?
Right! Thanks to a very generous package from Wendy Sue.
Chanel Cuir de Russie?
I just bought a 2006 batch code bottle of this off eBay. Hairspray at first then violets galore. This is the EDT. Luca Turin gave the 2008 EDP five stars…must hunt down an old bottle of that one too.
Insolence?
Correct!
Love that one, you smell great!
This week’s community project may have been my favorite one yet. I so enjoy reading everyone’s comments, and found myself checking back many times to see what the answers were. (It helped that I spent most of the week in a training I didn’t pay 100 % attention at.)
Today’s scent: Rose and suede, there we are agreed, but while I was promised angel wings, I got a big blast of cinnamon and tobacco, neither of which is a listed note. Super-hyped by a regular commenter here on NST. I like it a lot, but a decant is plenty for me 🙂
Alahine?
Nope! Though that one is certainly hyped by nearly everyone here 🙂
Hmmm. That’s a toughy.
🙂 No cheating!
April Aromatics Calling All Angels?
Nope! The angel wings don’t come from any official source.
I was thinking either Traversée du Bosphore or Mohur.
Incorrect! I didn’t think my SOTD would be so hard!
Your notes sort of suggest Chergui, but it is too hot in northern CA, I think, for Chergui.
I think you are right..I think it is Chergui which I also wear in warm weather even though I “shouldn’t”
I actually do quite enjoy a light application of Chergui in hot weather! Howeveer, that is not my SOTD.
Here is a big hint: the angel wing note was suggested by hannahmom, if I’m not mistaken!
knightsbridge??? although I have not a clue as to what notes are in that one but I do remember she was gaga over it!!!
FINALLY!!! We have a winner 🙂 🙂 🙂
So glad it was fun! I wasn’t really sure it would work.
Melancholy delicate flower with a melancholy name.
De Profundis?
Oh good guess and I love it, but no.
Lush Death and Decay?
Nope!
Love and Tears?
Great guess!
L’Heure Bleue?
Or maybe Apres L’Ondee?
Also great guess. More info. A flower scent often associated with make up, here with a suede edge.
Lieu de Reves? I’m thinking it will be a violet perfume.
Or iris as others are guessing. Maybe Iris Nazarena?
It is Violet, but not this one!
Ooh I Miss Violet?! I even own that one, and it’s a suede violet, duh.
I Miss Violet it is!
Lonesome Rider?
My clue isn’t very good!
Iris Silver Mist?
A lovely one, but this is violets.
SOTD is what I’d wear if I were sitting in my cozy drawing room overlooking the Neva, listening to the samovar bubble away while drinking my tea and while my husband eyes the cognac then pours himself a vodka.
(It’s also been christened “Rasputin’s Armpit”, so there’s that.)
Ambre Russe?
🙂 Indeed!
That’s so odd — I don’t get anything funky from Ambre Russe!
I don’t either (“Rasputin’s Armpit” is a March-ism). It’s all amber and booze with some tea and tobacco in the background. My favorite amber.
Is anyone familiar with the French colissimo package shipment system? I bought a cologne on French ebay recently, and got the following email today:
“Colissimo vous informe qu’un colis portant le n° EWxxxxxxxxxxFR est sur le point de vous être expédié par XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.
“Pour enregistrer ce colis dans votre espace personnel sur colissimo.fr, veuillez cliquer sur le lien suivant : Enregistrer mon colis [link]
“Si vous n’avez pas de compte sur le site colissimo.fr, vous pouvez en créer un gratuitement en cliquant ici. [link]
“La Poste vous remercie de votre confiance.”
I translated it on Google clearly enough. My question is whether I HAVE to register before it will ship, or if that just allows me to track it, and isn’t mandatory?
I really don’t like creating any more accounts than I have to.
Thanks!
No, you don’t have to. It just lets you track it. I registered myself because I looooove tracking my packages 🙂 but if you can handle uncertainty, no reason to register! (IIRC, once you have the account, new packages are automatically saved into it.)
Thanks so much, Koyel!
No you don’t need to register. You can open their website and paste in the tracking number to track any time. I think they are just trying to get you to register.
My SOTD has nothing to do with the Little Rascals character other than the name, but beware light-colored clothing.
Guerlain Elixir Charnel Gourmand Coquin?
Sorry, no
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/fashion/balenciaga-rubber-skirt-car-carpet-protector-luxury-design-brand-a8020831.html
Are you branching out to fashion?
I wish I could be as creative!
The one year anniversary of my car mat aquisition is coming early next year. I will commemorate the occasion in a suitable manner–perhaps with caviar and champagne.
no, sorry.
Meant for kanuka’s guess. And I misspelled “acquisition” above.
I noticed a patch of lichen growing on the roof of my car yesterday which seems rather extreme even by my standards. Looking forward to the car mat birthday. Have a happy weekend
Farina eau de cologne….but doesn’t fit with the light clothing clue. Which leaves specks…
I’m stuck on Alfalfa (horrible name) and Spanky. Not connecting to perfume for me! Fun clue tho.
Haha! Buckwheat and Darla had me stuck. Though Darla would be a sweet perfume name.
You are on the right track–think in French, though.
Well, I had to Google it and I had no idea that’s what it meant, but it crossed my mind by the clothing warning:
SARASSINS!!!
Yes!!
Don’t let William Carlos Williams near my perfume ( just sayin’)
Mary Greenwell Plum?
Yep
Woohoo! High school English class for the win!
This is just to say!
Nice call Koyel.
Peau de Peche?
Morning, all. I’m wearing a bright perfume for a rainy day. Sharp lemony citrus follows sharper lemony citrus, and in the dry down, sharp lemony citrus softens to a less sharp lemony citrus. The name sounds as though whiskey might have been on someone’s mind, though in another language and another country. If you wanted a perfume to bring you back to life the morning after the night before (I do; heavy duty party last night!) this one might do it for you.
No more clues: Breakfast has arrived, courtesy of the dear man. He is a quieter partier than I am, so he has less headache, more voice, and a whole heap of photos that I must delete from his phone….I wish Eric would not purr QUITE so loudly. Inconsiderate kitten!
No idea what your perfume is (Bourbon …hot toddy….) but it sounds appropriate. How did the viva go? Did you have to roll up your sleeves?
The viva is Wednesday next. These meetings are to try to get the student to park her aggression and convictions of superiority. She yelled twice yesterday. The first time I warned her I wouldn’t tolerate it; the second time I acted on my promise and finished the conversation. She rang me in the afternoon, and her mood had altered into a particularly unattractive whining: “It’s not fair…the examiners hate me…they don’t even understand what I’m trying to do…” etc, ad infinitum. I think the whining is even more tedious than the tantrums. All up, Wednesday afternoon cannot happen soon enough.
Sounds awful but I LOVE your strategy; good on you for enforcing that boundary.
Crikey, what a horror and how irritating. Unplug your phone for the weekend.
Cristalle? I was thinking Krystal vodka, though.
Profumum Acqua Viva?
Yes! Again, as I said yesterday to Odonata, if we lived close, I’d bestow some baking on you. I just made raspberry and white chocolate friands, which I can’t eat, of course, but the dear one has managed three and thinks they’re good.
I love to bake, but I pretty much hate cooking meals these days. Fortunately for the Watedragin ménage, the dear one likes to do the shopping and the meals. I do the rest: i5 works well for us.
Yum! I wish I could take you up on that although I’ve brought home 4 different pastries from my favorite bakery this morning. I will be in a sweets induced coma.
My SOTD:
Lily, lily and more lily
Stolen Kiss
Lovely breeze blowing over a field of green with lilies 🙂
Baiser Volé 🙂
Yes !!
You smell lovely!
I don’t think any more aldehydes could fit into a perfume.. this may well be the most aldehydic floral of them all..
Is it Fleurissimo?
Chanel No. 22.
I love that stuff (so insolent, calling Chanel “stuff” !
LOLOLOL
????
I was going to guess 22 as well!
Yes as well!
Yes!
Heehee!
Mine is equal parts dirty and clean orange blossom…
Fleurs d’Oranger?
Nope, but I’d like to really smell that one, I suspect I’d like it 😉
Dillitante?
Yes!
My SOTD: This 1990s perfume is the more elegant but still bold ‘n brassy little sister in style to those big 80s bombshells. The name of the fashion house that this perfume is from means “”staircase” or “ladder” in a romance language. Its bottle suggests a heart.
something by Escada? The original Escada ? ( I have almost every limited edition bottle of the summer scents and know that they come in a heart shaped bottle) and if it is the original Escada you are smelling gorgeous!!!!!!
That’s me. Smellin’ gorgeous today 🙂 !
PS I KNEW you’d know it!
Oh please, waft some my way 🙂
Diva?
Escada Collection.
Yes. The indomitable Margaretha Ley! My signature scent circa 1992.
Laying low as the coughing phase has arrived, and I’m trying to avoid further development. This has been so much fun to read! Both the clues and the guesses.
Letting Josephine Baker show me the warmer aspects of Vetiver.
That last line is my clue on SOTD.
Ok, I may have done a little research to trigger my memory, but is it Bal d’Afrique?
Yes! From a sample, which I’m quite liking….
And the reference is from Kevin’s review….
My perfume name is a color repeated as many times as the brand thought they could do without being too annoying. And yes, the perfume lives up to its name.
Green, Green, Green and… Green?
Yes! I love the heck out of this one, and my decant is almost gone. Considering a full bottle.
What’s the brand? Don’t think I know this one.
Miller et Bertaux
To me it shares similarities with Hermes Jardin en Mediterranee.
therabbitsflower, I agree, they have much in common! I don’t know if M&B have ever worried about being annoying in a name, so they must have had some other reason for stopping repeating “green” 🙂
It’s so much fun this week. Guess my SOTN I’ve just put on. It’s a language.
Arabie?
Something with “Mandarin” in the name?
No. No one has got it yet.
Dirty English.
French Kiss.
Burberry Brit.
😉
LOLOLOL
????
Maybe Castile (Castilian – Spanish)? Although it would be ‘Castilian’ then…
Javanese Patchouli?
Russian Leather?
SL Rousse?
I see this is a tough one. It’s L’Artisan’s Dzongkha, guys!
Very late to the party, but here is my SOTD –

It’s a new fragrance. Originally released in 2016 as limited edition, recently released in the permanent range. I do not think it is sold in the USA yet.
I suppose that since most of you haven’t tried it, I should add that the picture (see my link above) describes not just the main notes but also the name of the scent.
Oh, Lush Cardamom Coffee! I didn’t look at the picture at first.
Yes!
Thanks for getting that. I couldn’t for the life of me pull the word cardamom out from the photo. I could virtually taste it but couldn’t think of the name.
Late also, but here it is: mine is fit for a King:).
Apple, then vetiver, then smoke. In the heart of an abandoned Medieval apple orchard, grown over by the ancient Forest.
I loved this game! Fun to read all the riddles.
Salvador Dali Le Roy Soleil Extreme for Men ? I do not really know this one, but the notes (vetiver and apple) and the name fit.
Hello, nope! Didn’t know that one.
A little help: it is an indie one, and the scent is pretty close to Encre Noir pH.
😉
She may be packing heat, but her new scent is “egg”cellent- warm sandalwood with a soft creamy vibe….
Juliette has a Gun Sunnyside Up!
🙂
Bingo! I really like this new JHAG. Reminds me of TF Soleil Blanc.
Wow, I haven’t even heard of this one.
If anybody is still reading this thread and is not riddled-out…
I’m wearing perfume from, probably, the most loved brand. While people argue as to the flower featured in the name (it is one of those flowers, the presence and “trueness” to life of which in any perfume is usually questioned passionately), everybody agrees that the adjective used to describe that flower has little to do with the nature of this perfume.
Guerlain Cruel Gardenia?
Your guess is better, probably correct.
Yep 🙂
Carnal Flower, tuberose is lush and heady but not in this composition (I like tuberose). YMMV
I am wearing a perfume from a line notorious for perfumes with anemic sillage and longevity; however, there are exceptions such as the one I’m wearing. This shares similar notes as Memoirs of a Tresspasser. What am I wearing?
On my way home after doing damage at Twisted Lily. Saw. thegoddesrena, ElisaP and Daisy!
Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka?
Ding ding ding! Great job!
