It's Tuesday, and it's United Nations Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Thierry Mugler Aura. Review coming up this week, possibly today.
Reminder: 10/27 will be Guessing Game Friday. Describe your perfume to us, OR, give your perfume the name it ought to have had, and we'll see if we can guess what it is.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Safari Tea Canisters are marked down to $4.99 each at Stash Tea.
I’m early for a change π and wearing my beloved Vol de Nuit. Love those tea canisters!
Mm, that’s great stuff. I wish I had some of that in parfum!
Hey you! π
I’m still fasting. I’ll wear it on Thursday since I’ll be having a night 6-hour flight to the depths of Siberia π
Vol de Nuit really is for audacious women who dare take risks π
Wait — literally Siberia? Or figuratively? Sounds exciting and risky, either way.
nozknoz,
yes, literally.
I’m going to the city of Novokuznetsk and then skiing to Altai mountains π
Altai is one of the most beautiful, pristine and wild places on Earth, situated on the border of Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
Google some of the Altai pictures. I wanted to visit this place for several years and now I finally have a chance.
I spent last summer in the Altai, and have a colleague who has done serious climbing on the higher peaks. It is, indeed, spectacular. Lucky you!
Thrilling beauty! Have a spectacular time.
Wow, I am looking at pictures on Google now–you’re right, spectacular and gorgeous!
Spectacular! Vol de Nuit will be perfect. Have a wonderful trip!
Siberia?! Sounds like an adventure.
Yeah! I’m excited too.
Hey! VdN will be perfect for your flight into the depths of Siberia. Years ago, my brother spent a little over a year in Ekaterinburg – it was before the internet age, so all we had from him were letters (that mostly, as far as I know, actually made it to us in the States). He was there as the husband (now ex) of a Fulbright scholar, but he’s an architect and ended up giving lectures on architecture all over Russia, and his stories of that time and the people they met were fascinating.
Fascinating! What a a small world π And my brother lives in The States (Texas), but no real letters from him π
I’d love to cross the Atlantic and visit him there wearing VdN too π Even if it’s too much for the heat they have there.
World Market does great tea canisters too, for a decent price.
I haven’t tried VdN
Put it on my to try list?
Oh, YES. Vintage EDC or EDP if you can get your hands on it, or parfum (which I was warned will ruin you for anything else, and it’s true). π
Yes you should! Even if you can find only modern parfum.
Even though Robin didn’t include it in top-100 every perfumista should try list, I’d definitely replace Britney Spears one for that π
Leave Britney alone π
(really j/k, couldn’t resist)
LOL π
Only 2 of the canisters are available, if it matters.
Ah, sorry then!
It’s still tolerable weather here in Houston and I love it. I wish it could always be this pretty.
I put on my newly-acquired vintage Fougere Royale parfum. I’d guess it was from the 20’s, and it was still sealed. I almost kept it sealed but my passion isn’t for display. That stopper gave me a hell of a time too. I ended up using a candle lighter right at the neck and it worked beautifully. I think tonight I’ll pipe the contents into sample vials, since I’m worried about evaporation.
The scent was not what I expected at all: a warm and complex cinnamon, like real Vietnamese cinnamon bark. Not a touch of sweetness. I’ll report back if it changes!
Mm. Cinnamon bark! It sounds lovely.
Bergamot, Jasmine & Labdanum…very pretty and uncomplicated for a complicated day.
I thought you were describing your perfume, so I went to Phlur and looked up all the notes, ha π
You are funny! Nope, this one is a Dame π
Although it could also have been a Berdoues π
Today I’m still playing with my Zoologist samples.
In the morning it was Camel (I was surprised it was added, since I ordered before it was announced! And I loved hand written thank you note. My husband couldn’t believe it :))))
Camel opening was just like the smell of my new favorite soap from Nesti Dante – Chic Animalier – Bronze Leopard π
The soap smells very deliciously of myrrh and ginger tea. Every lathering is like an aroma therapy session and I love it.
Camel also has notes of Myrrh and candied fruits so I can understand the resemblance and a perfect fit in my mind.
But after those subside the base is a bit too masculine for my tastes, so I’m not sure I’ll wear it. I would love it on my man though π
In the afternoon I switched to Nightingale and it was wonderful and bright flower (distinct rose among others) chypre fragrance. Very bright and lovely just like N19 minus the bitter galbanum. I loved it very much. The longevity, the sillage and the structure are amazing. Very feminine but not girly at all.
And now I’m going to pilates to kill everyone with my Zoologist experiments traces.
Those are all extraits de parfum, with a couple exceptions for EdP. They just last and last π
Nightingale is the only one I’ve tried, and it was lovely but didn’t last long on me at all – maybe two hours.
That soap sounds wonderful.
mals86, odd.
I think it’s still going strong after 5 hours and just one spray.
Maybe you applied too gently you are simply much hotter than me π π π
I have scent-eating skin and I know it. But compared to other samples, Nightingale was gone fast.
Thatβs great they last for you!
Nightingale was the only one I tried. It lasted a little over an hour. It is very pretty!
Yeah, I don’t know. It’s really cold now where I live, my skin is dry because of the central heating and I still think it’s very long lasting.
It’s a real pity when we can’t smell perfumes we like on ourselves.
Yes it is! So glad for you itβs working.
I received my Zoologist samples last week, but I haven’t started to explore them yet. You certainly make me want to start!
Do start! π I’d like to hear your thoughts!
Fragrantica says my SOTD “opens with a sharp burst of citrus. A rich bouquet of peach, jasmine, rose and iris rests on an earthy base of vetiver and oakmoss”.” I would have said “it smells rich, good.”
Sounds like a Chypre, so I’ll take a stab at it and say Mitsouko.
Chypre!
Mitsouko is a good guess by Coin-op and I will second that
I don’t remember iris in Mitsy… maybe AdP Profumo? No, that was plum.
Maybe that Hiram Green thingy. Shangri-La?
You got it, mals. “The Hiram Green thingy, Shangri-La”.
Hoping for the Aura review today! Like those tea canisters, too. Thought they were solids or lip balms at first, though — had to re-scale the image in my brain.
They really do look just like lipsticks!
Oh I thought they were long matches π
I thought they were incense packages.
Admittedly, I only have had one coffee and no eyeglasses on…
Maybe some tea for two today on the hottest day of October on record. And air conditioning.
I’ve got all the windows open! Very odd for 10/24.
Also excited to hear about Aura!
Another one interested in Aura, if nothing else the bottle is so pretty.
I managed to finish it, just barely π
<3
I’m wearing Rose Jam today, loving this juice and so grateful to my swap buddy on this! A little goes a long way so no need to spray this one, a dab here and there is sufficient I’ve found.
Still baking a new cookie once-a-week, baking from Dorie Greenspan’s Dorie’s Cookies book and yesterday I made the most delicious Greek Honey Dainties. The cookie has a wonderful texture, very delicate and crisp, and then it’s dowsed in honey with a sprinkling of walnuts on top. I decided to not bring these into work but to save them for home and a few special people. π
Sounds delicious! My sister went to baking camp, and we got to taste all of her new recipes π
Baking Camp would be right up my ally! I should check that out. Yes, very yummy especially with some tea.
Those cookie sound amazing!!
I’m a tough cookie critic and I will say they are very close to amazing.
Yay, glad you’re still enjoying it! Rose Jam often helps cheer me up on Mondays, but I tend to not wear it as often when I’m not using the shower gel.
Those cookies sound wonderful.
Those cookies sound delicious!!
How does Rose Jam perfume compare to the shower gel?
Those sound delicious!
Holy cow, pass the cookies!
SOTD is Comptoir Sud Pacifique “Coco Extreme”.
Top: coconut and vanilla flower;
Mid: tonka, almond, coconut and milk;
Base: vanilla, sugar and coconut.
It’s great fun, but strictly for holidays. :^)
sometimes you need a scent like that, sounds delicious!
Happy fall everyone! Hope this finds you all well.
Iβm reading Murder on the Orient Express ,getting ready for the Kenneth Branaugh version of the film due out next month. I got on a roll and started reading about the golden era – the time-between the two world wars. With the blustery wind and changing leaves Iβm in a cozy frame of mind this morning. Double chocolate expresso with hot coconut milk -and sausage and sautΓ©ed mushrooms and yellow peppers. Todayβs perfume accompaniment is going to be Ambre des Merivilles.
I haven’t heard there was a new MOTOE moving coming out, I’m excited! Who will play Poirot? Going to look it up now…
Kenneth Brannaugh! The cast looks pretty good.
Of course he is, he can’t resist π On screen I don’t think anyone will top David Suchet, but I am certainly going to give this one a shot!
I did not know this either, good news!
I adore the golden era mysteries, and I’ve loved Murder on the Orient Express since the ’70s movie. I read the book after seeing the movie and it was the entry way into Agatha Christie’s books, and from there to Dorothy L. Sayers, etc. Can’t wait to see the new movie.
I also enjoy Sayers, Alligham, and Tey!
Have you read the Jill Paton Walsh books? Sheβs doing a fine job re creating the time -and Harriet and Peter.
Love Ken Branagh. I may have to drag my daughter to the theater with me…
Another Branagh fan here. I’m looking forward to this movie.
I’m really excited to see it too!
Guessing Game:
An oriental perfume, with amber and musk, Moroccan roses, bergamot
a bit boozy at the start. This perfume pays homage to Moroccan palaces. Hint, on NST we usually spell it with many “i” and explanation points. Lots of sillage in this one!
Made eggs this morning with Indian style home fries, lots of turmeric and cumin
Tea is Nocturne Oriental
Alahiiiine!!!!
and PLEASE pass me some of your breakfast π
Right!!!
Passing you some eggs and potatoes!
thank you π delicious!
It’s still too warm for Alahine here. You smell fabulous!
you mean…Alahiiiiiiine !!!!! hahaha
I wish I got what you guys get from Alahine! (Just the one i for me, since I don’t love it…yet?) It sure is a loud scent.
You and me are in the 1i camp π
Then I am in good company!
SOTD is Providence Perfume Co. Provanilla, which I just got a sample of yesterday. I get a lot more melon than the reviews I read had me hoping for, and while it smells very real and juicy, I don’t even like eating melons, so I’m struggling a little with that part (even though it’s not all that strong). However, the vanilla is SPECTACULAR, and might just be enough to make me work through my melon problems.

Nice!
I’m continuing on with my ELDO Discovery Kit with Fat Electrician. This is a really enjoyable vetiver.
It might be my favorite from the line, you smell great!
I like that one, too. Vetiver can be difficult for me but I tend to find the tropical beach versions quite pleasant.
Reading your comment helped me make up my mind about what I’d wear today. Thanks!
I really like ELdO for fall scents.
Guessing Game:
Rose perfume with geranium and ginger. A bleeding, juicy rose sprinkled with baby powder and covered in sugared kisses.
Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection?
Lipstick Rose?
***ding ding ding! You win!***
Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection
Guerlain French Kiss?
makes me want to smell French Kiss if it smells like the description π
I’ll try to remember to include some in your split package!
very thoughtful hajusuuri, thank you!
I opened my Christmas present early: the CirΓ© Trudon perfume coffret. If you are looking for a gift for someone who appreciates fragrance (or whom you would like to convert), or an instant perfume wardrobe for yourself, this could be it.
The packaging is beautiful, and I’ve liked most of the fragrances so far (Revolution is the only one I haven’t tried yet; Bruma to me is OK but the least interesting.) I find them lovely, elegant, and eminently wearable.
On my cool skin, they have perhaps a certain detachment or impersonality that recalls the brand’s excellence in parfum d’ambience, but not unpleasantly so.
They aren’t wildly original, but neither are they merely derivative. The fragrances that they remind me of are mostly interesting ones, deftly edited. For example, I find Olim to be somewhere in between Fendi Theorema and Diptyque Volutes, but lighter and (to me) easier to wear. (It reminded Kevin of Guerlain Jicky, so YMMV.)
The five sprays are 10 mls each, with free shipping from the CirΓ© Trudon website, so that’s 50 mls of perfume for $110. (No affiliation)
no affiliation, but great advertisement π making me want to add this to my Christmas list π
My work is done here! π
Kevin liked Bruma the least too.
I hated Olim at first then came around to it. It’s a great scent. Did not make me think of Jicky, though. Or of Theorema, or Volutes!
“They arenβt wildly original, but neither are they merely derivative.” — exactly.
Wow, these look so simple but luxurious.
And worthy of a modern Bertie Wooster for sure!
I tried to buy the coffret three times from their website, but kept getting kicked back to a previous page when I tried to finalize the purchase. I took it as a sign.
First truly cool day of fall here in South Carolina. Wearing Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial. Had Guerlain named it Mon Guerlain instead, perhaps PI would still be in production. It certainly should be. What a morphing, delicate yet persistent beauty. Hoarding a discontinued gem is difficult when one would prefer to bathe in it.
I know. Its such a lovely scent. I have a backup bottle of it.
You smell gorgeous!
Guessing game:
My SotD is a smoky vetiver with rose and pepper. Its strong and soft at the same time, sillage is not huge but for me as a wearer its def there, all day long. Not vintage. European brand.
This perfume / brand is not mentioned a lot on this site… I wear this scent at least once or twice a month.
Roja Dove Vetiver?
Nope…
Have you tried it, is it any good?
No, just “virtually”, it’s on my list
Sycomore, well that is mentioned a lot.
hmmm..
Timbuktu? Serge Lutens Vetiver?
Shaal Nur?
Another hint:
brand from Switzerland, but the perfumer was born in another country (that narrows it down to a handful right?)
Also,
Does anyone know a fragrance like Iris nazarena, but cheaper haha?
Tauer Vetiver Dance? Lonesome Rider?
Vero Profumo Onda!
The best advise I have found is to try to layer comparable iris/leather scent with a good sandalwood scent.
If you’d settle for a large decant, I know someone who has a great price for it (in Europe). If you’re interested, shoot me an email pretsky 35 at hot mail
Oh good to know!
I am still exploring all my options.
I spotted a travel size set with two other AdVs in it. Could be interesting, but dont know if the other scents are any good…
But i’ll write down your mailaddress just to be sure… Thanks!
My sotd was
Vitrum
By Sammarco
I admit, this was not an easy one.
My SotE is an easy one:
Pine, incense, warm spices, fruits.
Lots of people think of it as a christmas scent. And yes its great in cold weather. But it also reminds me of summer in southern France: pine forests baking in the sun, smell of full bodied plummy red wines, the aromatic herbs on a bloody steak, incense from a small Roman church….
Wow. Now I really need to try this one. It sounds amazing!
Shall we wait to see if someone knows?
Ive seen it mentioned here quite a few times.
Its from a very well known French semi-niche (meaning: not really niche anymore) brand.
Fille en Aiguilles?
Yess!!!
And I mean ‘Romanesque’ church…. π
SOTD big designer LOTV: Diorissimo
No mystery!
YUM. I might put on a dab right now.
Ha! Thought of you when post shower I switched to Ananas Fizz.
It’s hot here today!
Yeah, I envy you, although it’s pretty warm here too.
Yesterday was eventful to say the least. My grandmother has a knee replacement yesterday and I was on the phone quite a bit too. My health insurance wouldn’t pay for my medication. So I had to spend my crown money on my medication along with my dog’s. Called the dentist and spoke to the receptionist and said that I could come in for a cleaning but I couldn’t afford a crown. Yesterday’s SOTD was vintage Bal for comfort.
Today I am wearing FdB for a little more comfort.
Well, that sounds like a tough week for sure, FdB is certain to be comforting. I hope things improve for you!
You’ve got a lot on your plate – hope you get all the comfort you need.
Ugh, sorry for all the problems, & hope things get easier.
Acqua di Parma Colonia
Nice tea canisters. I’m drinking a cup of Stash Lemon Ginger tea.
Robin, I’m looking forward to your review of Mugler Aura. I cannot find it locally. I’m travelling to Disneyworld next week, and I hope they have it in EPCOT France pavilion.
I did finally post it. Good luck, no idea if they will have it or not…
Have some cake with Louis XVI and try not to lose your head. SOTD is warm, green, spiced cardamom and rose scent.
Aaahhh, you smell divine! I love this one is cool weather. Can’t wait to bring it back into rotation. I’ll see if someone else can guess it. ????
βΊ
I’m dying to try Kismet. Have you had a chance to?
No, I have not. I have tried a few others but mu SOTD is my only love so far.
Oooh, Black Jade? I love that one
But, of course!
Good heavens, this week’s project is really making me want to sniff a lot of new things!
It is pretty!
Lubin Black Jade – qu’ils mangent de la brioche!
Clever!
Itβs the coldest it has been yet this year (yay!) and rainy. Still battling allergies but decided to wear some perfume anyway. I usually only wear Chanel No. 19 Poudre when I feel this way, but I decided to try Silences, which fits well with this dreary day.
Sorry it is dreary — but does the rain maybe help your allergies?
Thank you; I think itβs mold that is causing my problems.
Ah, you don’t need rain then. Sorry!
SOTD is Tabac Tabou by PdE.
Had the misfortune of going through Portland at rush hour yesterday. Holy Krakatoa, a nightmare. Headed for the coast today.
Those tea canisters are pretty sexy, if tea canisters CAN be sexy…????
Hello my fellow pumpkin lover! I know that you consume alcohol from time to time so I am curious if you have tried Captain Morgan Pumpkin Spiced Rum? I am not a huge drinker but I was in the store buying lotto yesterday and I spotted a single size serving of this in those adorable tiny containers (this one was pumpkin hued) for 99 cents so I bought it…straight up over ice and it was delicious…I recommend!
I have to try this! Every time I mention buying alcohol or linger a little bit at the Wegmans liquor store, my mom thinks I shouldn’t or I will turn into an alki. Really, mom?
I wore this yesterday! I applied maybe a little too much, but it was worth it.
Wearing the new version of Iris Ganache today and think I’m officially loving it.
Disclaimer: It is sweet…this is known.
I thought that was discontinued?
It has been relaunched but only sold at Guerlain flagship store in Paris.
Sounds good. I need to get my mule to bring me this next summer.
I am happy to give you some. I was just thinking that the SoCal meet up group has not met in a while. ????
That is so sweet of you! If you want to meet up please email me, username @ me dot com.
No one guessed my yesterscent, which was Jour d’Hermes. Well, today’s scent is sheer saffron with a veil of spicy vanilla. Delicious cardamom, milk-less saffron chai.
Day 1 of three full days of training. Blech. On the upside, since training is 08:30 – 17:00, I’ve decided I’m not going to go to lab afterwards, soooo yay, I have fixed, not-too-long workdays!
Ohhh, I adore Jour d’Hermes. Such a pretty scent! I just wish it lasted longer.
Really? It lasts for ages on me! It is very pretty, but I don’t know if it’s ME.
Dzongkha?
Not at all! I’m surprised by your guess because I don’t saffron from Dzongkha at all, and am jealous that you apparently do.
But here’s a big hint: you’ve got the right house!
saffron troublant
That’s the one π
Safran Troublant?
You’ve got it! Congratulations π I’ve got like six sprays of Safran Troublant on and I smell just lovely, if I do say so myself!
Tuesday riddle:
I am wearing a perfume with labdanum. Quite new on the market. It’s from a brand that our fellow NST-er could easily be an advocate for.
What’s my sotd?
hmmm..this one is hard. Any more hints?
I guess the advocate has spoken just below your comment
LOL! The Berdoues Queen π
Berdoues Masaai Mara π
So…how do you like it?
Your review on Idlewilde has made me want to buy it…naughty, Lucas!
You shouldn’t have said that! You were at an advantage!
Me liked Maasai Mara.
LOL!
Well, I will have to get my nose on both Masaai and Idlewilde eventually…I still haven’t sniffed the Russka and I read somewhere that there is yet another Berdoues coming out shortly with tobacco as the main note…it sounds good.
Funny how you mispronounce Idyllwild.
Hoja de Cuba is that tobacco you mention.
OOps! Idyllwild π
I will be looking forward to your take on Hoja as we seem to see eye to eye (or nose to nose) with the Berdoues brand.
I’m wearing the yummy Cuir de Lancome today.
Thought about wearing this today.
So beautiful!
This gets so much love here! considering a sample, but sad it is discontinued if I love it
But is it not better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?
truth….what perfume do you think it most closely resembles, if any?
Hmm. I’m not sure it does resemble anything? The leather reeks kind of the way Cuir d’Ange reeks of leather–does that make sense? It’s a very loud leather. But buttery-soft, orris butter maybe, with something floral? And a touch of saffron-y spiciness? Earthiness? Kind of rooted/anchored/grounded.
I’m spewing nonsense. I’m so bad at describing scents!
Hey, that was helpful to me thank you!
More importantly, you can get it on eBay still for not too much money π
SOTD for today’s hot and dry weather is L’Eau Trois by Diptyque, it’s resins and dry herbs will open beautifully. It was 81 at 7am this morning. It’ll be a scorcher in SF today!
It is COLD in my parts today! Perfect weather for the original version of this spicy, fruity, woody beauty. The nose took this lovely creation with him to another perfume house.
Feminite du Bois?
Yes!
Super hot and dry here in San Diego. I think I will stick with Costes body oil.
Tried Naja yesterday and sadly didn’t love it. It was very powdery on me, which I am not a big fan of. Thankfully I at least didn’t get the melon. Will try it a few more times when my health and mental state are better, but so far I am disappointed.
Naomi goodsir Nuit de Bakelite on the other hand was gorgeous. Should have bought that instead. :-\
Naja doesn’t do anything for me either. That’s interesting about the NG on your skin. To me it smells like raw bell peppers, all of the SAs in scent bar were begging me not to spray it. hahaha!
Wearing a bit of vintage Bal a Versailles edt, thank you SheWolf! I really like this–it smells deeply familiar, I think maybe my grandmother had a bottle (or at least something very similar). I really love this type of old-school oriental.
I have some of the vintage, this is super sexy and comforting at the same time – one of my adored scents for winter.
I bought a bunch of Byredo samples off of eBay last month and I’ve been slowly making my way through them. I didn’t care for Super Cedar or Rose of No Man’s Land but today I tried Mohave Ghost, which is lovely. I’ve never smelled the flower it’s based on, but MG smells like a light, fruity tuberose on me.
Serge Lutens 5 O’clock Gingembre for the first really chilly, windy, rainy day of autumn.
Yum, you smell great! I wore that yesterday. ????
It’s just made for fall :))
Ooh my favorite autumn/winter scent! You smell gorgeous!
Can’t smell very well today from the combo of congestion and humidty. The only things that seemed to penetrate were citrusy ones so I’m wearing one whose main feature is used in Early Grey Tea and made by a brand that either induces anger and disdain or panting and drooling. For me, it’s maybe an eye roll since I do really like a couple.
Mugler cologne?
No, too inexpensive to tick people off. And very decent.
Tom Ford Venetian Bergamot?
It’s a perfect parallel, but not the one.
TeaInTheGarden’s guess looks good to me π OR, Creed Acqua Fiorentina?
Too obscure, Koyel! Lol.
I’m going to half guess… is it a Bond no. 9 something?
No but that could fit the attitude toward the brand!
OMG I’m dying for the answer. Are you going to put us out of our misery?!
I was a frustrated as you are!!
Acqua di Parma?
By Kilian?
Nope, but thanks for guessing!
Le Labo Bergamote 22?
Something by Clive Christian?
Yes!!!!( And I’ve never tried anything by Clive Christian).
Earl Grey => bergamot => Cologne
anger or drooling => eye roll => Etat Libre d’Orange
That could’ve worked. Those guys just make me smile, though ????
Robin, I’m so excited for your Aura review! It will make my day, even if you don’t like it. It’s so dreary and rainy here. I need some sun! Sotd is Black Perfecto.
You smell lovely!
Thanks!
I’m wearing Atelier’s Cafe Tuberosa from a new 10ml spray
Top: bergamot, tangerine, cardamom
Middle: tuberose, Damascena rose absolue, coffee espresso accord
Base: patch, vanilla, cacao
It’s 45F and raining here today, and this is a pretty good choice. Some great top notes, but the jury’s still out on the base. I oversprayed the drydown with I Profumi di Firenze Spezie de Medici yesterday in an effort to give the end some sparkle.
I got a sample of this in the freebiemeet and it is really wonderful! The coffee note booms in right from the first second on my skin, though π I haven’t met an Atelier Cologne I dislike yet, and have come across a number I want more of!
ditto and ditto
Agree and agree:)
Makes me happy to see a mention of Spezie de Medici π
Bright, cheerful musky overripe tropical fruits on a sandalwood base for me today. Composed by one of the great perfumers of our time. This house is mentioned fairly regularly on NST, but this is probably their least mentioned perfume in SOTD comments.
PdN L’Eau a la Folie?
Bombay Bling?
You got it!
Oh darn! I was going to guess that, but I see it mentioned so often that I decided I had to be wrong. Oh well.
Late today! Some mornings are just plain insanity…..LOL
Back in Stella, because Stella lives in my purse, and Stella was my only choice after a crazy morning. Light and fresh roses always work! π
Stella! Hey, Stelllaaaa!
You smell great. π
Perfect choice to keep in your purse.
Beautiful morning here, and I’m wearing a new green and gold dress – I’m finally getting to wear some of the sewing I’ve done in anticipation of warmer weather. Chamade will be just right.
I was in vintage Chamade perfume early this morning…it is sublime.
Wearing a sample of Alaia Blanche today.
Surprised they have not done another flanker!
It’s another warm beautiful day here and I’m wearing CdG Amazing Green.
I’m in a BWF scent today. Roy Orbison had a hit with the title of it, but in French instead of English.
The only scent I can think of is Femme but that can’t be right?
Well, I had to cheat by going through Roy Orbison songs and the best I could come up with is Songes (for In Dreams)?
Songes is the only one I could come up with too.
Yes!
Hurray for Roy and for Songes. Beautiful notes from both.
Tweeter and the Monkey Man? π
No, that can’t be right. Pretty sure Bob Dylan sang lead on that one.
????
I’d buy a perfume called Tweeter and the Monkey Man just for the name!
Me too!
Me three! π
ELDO is probably reading this and making plans….
hee hee, I’d buy Tweeter too. π
Tom Ford’s Cafe Rose today. I love rose fragrances and this one is a gorgeously different take on a dark rose.
Scent of all day and all night = 4711
It’s the only thing that works here on the surface of the sun.
Please send ice.
Sounds brutal and reminding me of that Twilight Zone episode where the woman with the fever is dreaming that the sun is inching towards Earth at a rapid rate. My brother was visiting from LA and we were discussing the virtues of actual seasons. He’s always trying to entice me to move back to LA and not having to endure another winter is always the carrot. But the heat! Ugh. Stay cooler than you already are!
YES EXACTLY THAT, this is the Twilight Zone. It feels like the sun is going to swallow us up. But relief is on the way in the next 48 hours, so I’ll stop griping.
I really think there are fewer awful hot days in LA than awful cold days in the northeast. But I do miss October’s colorful autumn leaves.
Awww, poor you! It turned humid here today too. My sympathies.
thanks! this too shall pass.
hot + humid is not my favorite either.
I am wearing another Iris/Orris perfume today which smells remarkably similar to Carner Barcelona D600 with cedar wood and nuttiness. This is one of the trio of fragrances made by a British perfumer who had been developing perfumes at about 1/year which, IMHO, makes the perfumes well thought out and developed.
Commuting Wins and Woes No. 402
(Snarky) win: I sat across from My 500 lb Life guy this morning and noted that he actually took up THREE, you read it right, THREE SEATS – his backpack to his right, his main body bulk in the center and spillover bulk to his left. A stocky guy walked in looking for a place to sit and spotted the open seat with spillover bulk and decided to sit there, forcing 500 lb guy to adjust his body to make room. Sweet justice!
Woe: Walking towards the parking deck, a guy was vaping and spreading a huge could of vape-smoke without a care in the world that people behind him were coughing and fanning the smoke out of the way. How rude! I don’t think enough studies have been done to test the safety of vaping and secondhand vape-smoke!
Just heard on the radio on my way to work yesterday that NYS is making vaping illegal in places where smoking is banned.
and what ARE you wearing cause I like D600 π
