Lazy weekend poll ~ open thread, late October 2017

Posted by Robin on 21 October 2017 216 Comments

PSA: the splitmeet is open until tomorrow morning!

Meantime, we're marking Carrie Fisher's birthday (may she RIP) with another open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance you wish your friend would wear instead of whatever they do wear, whatever.

Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

pre-yoga Dame Earth Mother (as it is so subtle and soft)
post yoga Dame Mimosa (I normally save these type of florals for the spring but kpaint reminded me that they might fare well in the fall and to this I agree)

I cannot complain about any of my friends….my best friend is a perfumista and she reeks havoc….my childhood friend has always worn conventional fragrances (Poison and Envy were her go tos for years) but she is open to experimentation and has happily accepted unconventional fragrance samples from me. my yoga teacher wears nothing but my essential oil blends so she is still a work in progress with regard to getting her to “walk on the wild side” (although she did compliment me on Tibetan Mountain Temple once and the following week I gave her one of my full bottles !)

and i think I might spend the entire week in Mimosa as it is just so darn good and will make a safe and office friendly scent after all of the havoc reeking of last week 🙂

I have hives today grrrrrrr so probably no SOTD for me.
Went to Nordstrom yesterday and tested JM bitter orange or orange bitters. I was hopeful, but who knows, maybe that’s why I have hives?
It never developed into anyth8ng on me but sticky orange juice!
I have bought so little and culled a lot this year. I am sorely tempted by Mosaic @ Luckyscent. It’s in my cart but I am afraid to push that button.

Mosaic sounds luscious, and I might buy it just for that bottle – wow. Hope the hives go away quickly – I’ve had them, and it’s no fun at all.

I’ve had trouble with hives, too, beginning around peri-menopause. No fun. And I agree about paying shipping for samples, but I’ve avoided so many expensive mistakes that way, that I feel it’s worth it.

I figure its just part of my very bad worse most terrible year ever and it won’t be over till 01/01/2018.

I still might get that bottle. It reminds me of Satellites Padparadscha, which I know many of you love. I still have half a bottle and the red cap is like a little Fez.

Enabler husband brought me a sample of Gallivant Berlin, which is not on Basenotes or Fragrantica, so I have no idea of the notes. I smell an orange-y citrus, smoke and an incense-y spice. Leans masculine but I like that.
I have been working with my BFF to find a fragrance she likes. It’s a much harder process than I expected – you would think that after 30+ years of knowing someone, it would be easier. She finally decided on one from Hanae Mori.

    Hello NST!
The weather is changing again, days get shorter and trees are getting more and more naked.

I am wearing Robert Piguet L’Insomnuit today. It’s not bad, the iris part is nice but the whole perfume becomes a skinscent in a blink of an eye. One hour later I could only smell some woods sweetened with tonka, ale I had to press my nose to the wrist to actually smell it. Such a shame. Not worth the money for me if it is so weak.

Wow. That one was nuclear on me and I could still smell it for hours after trying to scrub it off. (I also didn’t like the scent itself- too syrupy sweet and chemically to me).

    Happy Saturday. Wearing Covet again.

Just saw that SJP is releasing (has released?) Stash SJP Privé. Notes sound interesting: Top notes are pink pepper, quince and grapefruit; middle notes are tunisian orange blossom and sage; base notes are birch, haitian vetiver and musk (per Fragrantica).

And, wait for it – more millennial pink.

Has anyone seen this or tested?

I would love to hear anyone’s thoughts on You Or Someone Like You.
I think I love it. To me, it’s a very happy scent.
I’m surprised at how long it lasts–I could still smell it on my arm when I woke up this morning.

By the way, if anyone lives near Santa Clara, California, the Valley Fair Sephora has greatly expanded their perfume section. They had many ELDO, Hermes, and some Tom Ford. While Nordstrom’s fragrance department get smaller, the one at Sephora looks great and is so welcoming with free samples!

Well that was a week I hope never to repeat. There was a lot of reeking (smoke) and havoc (evacuation) but no reeking havoc with perfumes.

Monday around midnight we got the call from the Sheriff for mandatory evacuation due to fire in the canyon below us. My husband had already left to go work the fire. I woke up our Napa-refugee friends and kicked them out; packed up the cats and some clothes and a few odds and ends and flew out of here. Spent the first night in a motel, then a couple of nights at a friends… me and two miserably unhappy cats. It was so wonderful to get home again on Thursday! No damage in my community, just plenty of smoke and scorched bits of trees scattered around. Phew…. it is so strange to get back to ‘normal’ life.

Grateful for friends, no matter what they smell like 🙂

What a relief that you all are safe and back in your home. You and other Californians have been through a lot this year. I haven’t seen any updates on the fires. It’s been pouring down rain where I am for the past couple of days – any sign of it down there?

Thanks all! So nice to have your support 🙂

We were so fortunate not to have wind throughout the early days of the fire; if we’d had conditions like the Napa/Sonoma fires, the outcome would likely have been very different. Then we had a little rain on Thursday night… heavenly. It’s still early yet for the winter rains to start, but hopefully in a few weeks they will arrive.

Nope I didn’t take a single perfume with me. No time! I had to spend more bugging-out time than I wanted dragging cats out from under beds. But I did have some Pacifica solids at work. Yep I went to work — beats staring at the wall or the TV all day. My vet was kind enough to take my cats one day (no charge!) and then my friend kept them the other 2 days. The cats are even happier to be home than I am.

Fiori di Capri again for me. Meeting a friend for lunch and a wander. Not sure what scent she wears. I know she owns TF Jasmin Rouge but doubt she’ll be wearing that. She’s been a fan of AG and Jo Malone in the past.

(reminder I have a split of Seville a L’Aube for anyone interested.)

Greetings from Idaho! SOTD is SSS Winter Woods because it’s winter and we’re headed into the woods.

Worst day ever driving yesterday! Left Butte and headed south on 15 because the sky was looking a bit unfriendly. Headed down through a beautiful valley with hills gently rolled and tucked into the base of the mountains, everything a gorgeous fall gold, then soaring up the green mountains covered with evergreens and spruce, crowned with sparkling caps of snow. In a hot two minutes, the entire valley was socked in and the WIND!! I got a great upper body workout trying to keep the van on the road. Had to pull over for a bit then decided to risk it since I didn’t want to end up in snow. The grey gravid belly of the clouds descended like a blackout curtain, obscuring the entire valley. I boogied down the valley as quick as I dared and when I glanced in my rearview mirror, it looked like Mordor behind me!! Good grief, so glad to be at lower altitudes!

Happy travels to all, T-Rex is having a fit over some tumbleweed that just blew next to the van! She thinks she a Rottweiler or something????

My aunt lived briefly in some kind of valley in Idaho with weather just as you are describing. I wonder if it’s the same place, or if that’s commonplace throughout the state? Be safe – not just from the weather but also generally speaking. I will admit to my own bias in thinking that Idaho is full of wackos 😉 but it’s probably just that their wackos make the news.

SOTM is Eau Clair des Merveilles, which seems extra fluffy-powdery this morning, and exactly what I was after. Two errors on the crossword puzzle Mr. G and I are doing (competitively) means he has a chance to beat me, which he always enjoys. Happy Saturday, all.

I am wearing Miss Dior Original. I wore this the night before last, also. I was at a wine tasting event, and two of my friends complimented me on it. One of the friends is a true perfume lover. She said she has a bottle of Miss Dior and it doesn’t smell the same on her. I wondered if she has the newer version of this scent.

My other friend is someone who rarely treats herself to perfume. A few months ago, for Mother’s Day, I was her husband’s secret shopper when she received a brand new bottle of Chanel No. 19 EDT. She had often remarked how much she loved No. 19 on me and he doesn’t like to shop. Maybe her husband will need me to be his secret shopper for Christmas 🙂

Today is my last day in Hawaii, it has been a wonderful trip. I will miss the Hawaiian food (except Spam) and the ocean warm enough to swim in without my lips turning blue like they do on the Oregon coast. I cannot face another Olympic Orchids scent today so I’ll probably go back to the duty free shop and spritz on some Twilly.

    Have a good weekend, all!

What are the highlights of your trip ( apart from the delicious food ). Some of the OO perfumes seem very bitter and almost murky to my nose ( like Bay Rum ), rather like the perfume equivalent of chartreuse, almost medicinal and with a hint of tar. Others have a sweetness that is equally ‘thick’ almost turgid …the orchid scents. I have three that I wear but I like them less and less the more I wear them as they seem a bit monotonous after a while. They all start bold and simple, and cling: blackbird ( sharp pine and berry. I used one bottle quite quickly, got a second and have barely touched it as the pine is too christmas room spray), California Chocolate ( milk chocolate coated in orange , more a flavour than a scent in some respects ) and woodcut (woody but with a stickiness). I have started scrubbing them as they stick in my nose. They were all blind buys. I think there was one that was sent as a sample I quite liked but I can’t remember its name…it was a forest after the rain scent.

So many things! I love the reefs and the tropical fish (I scuba dive). I love the breeze that cools you off, the raindrops that hit even with the sun shining brightly (and the accompanying rainbows). I like that all the beaches are open to the public. I like the hiking trail up to Diamond Head. The public bus system goes practically everywhere, so no need for a car. The people are wondrously friendly and in Waikiki there are more perfume shops in one square mile than I have seen anywhere outside of Paris.

We both found raincoats, so the day was a success! Also, we went in Nordstrom, and I saw a SA dressed to match the Twilly bottle and trying to get people to try it. I found the outfit coordination to be too much.

I really like HHH. It is the epitome of chocolate-y ganja patch. From Smell Bent, my faves of what I’ve tried and what are still available are Praire Nymph, Never Never Land, Florist’s Fridge, and Pepper Ylang. There are still quite a few newer ones I’d like to try.

Really like it and relieved it doesn’t actually smell like garbage, as some reviews suggest! Now a bit of vintage Caleche PDT for a blustery autumn evening.

A moment of silence for my bottle of Arz el Rab. I bumped my dresser last night, and the bottle fell off and shattered. Luckily (I guess), it was in the box, so while the box obviously provided no protection, it at least contained the glass so it didn’t go all over the floor.

On a happier note, I got my Zoologist sample order yesterday and got a surprise. They threw in a sample of Camel! I thought I’d have to wait til December or whenever it’s supposed to be out to get a sample.

I ordered samples of Elephant and Dragonfly since those weren’t out yet when I got my original sample set. And Beaver and Panda have been reformulated, so I got those too, to see if I like the new versions better than the originals. So I have Camel on one arm, Elephant on the other and Dragonfly on the underside of one wrist. Loving Camel and Elephant. Not sure yet if I like Dragonfly.

I really liked the top notes of the original Panda, but the drydown was kind of thin on me. I like the new one better, though it lost some of the greenness of the original. The “earthy notes” in the new version of Panda give it a slight resemblance to Bat.

Best of good mornings, all. Eric and I are lying on the bed, him washing his face earnestly (Titus has joined us and is now helping Eric with the washing) and me drinking a truly excellent cup of tea. The dear man seems to be watching some rugby. Alexander is systematically removing socks and bras from the drying rack and towing them around the house. All is well chez Waterdragon, then.

I’m wearing Cristalle for clarity and concentration because I’m working on a sewing project today. When I intended to retire, I didn’t do anything much to the house, knowing we would be selling and would make one massive effort to paint it all clean and fresh then. The sitting room furniture is comfortable, but old: with the attentions of the the feline triad, it has rapidly become slightly tattered as well. Now we’re staying for a while longer, I need to do something to tidy us up, but I can’t be bothered re-upholstering the sofa and chairs, because we definitely won’t be taking them with us, so I’m just making loose cover ups out of dark soft fabric. I’ll scatter interesting cushions on top and add some throws (yesterday I saw some fabulous cotton-on-linen fabric that would work, and I think I’ll go back and get some this afternoon), and that will have to do for the time being.

Why is Cristalle such a great choice to help with sewing? I don’t know, really. It might be because it warms up so beautifully that I’m always aware of it, and so focus more intently. Maybe it’s because it’s very pure and uncomplicated and therefore smells like clear thinking. Maybe–much more likely!– I just like it under any circumstances…be well, everyone. Enjoy what you do.

That sounds like the EDT of Cristalle? I prefer it to the EDP but Australian retailers only ever seem to carry the EDP. So if I take the plunge it will be online. The ‘plunge’ is because I do already own … ahem … quite a few summer eaux. I don’t NEED another. ????

      Happy sewing!

New fabrics and cushions can do a lot to completely change the feel of a room. Have fun!

I wear Cristalle EDP and it has a certain “tightness” to it that I associate with a cut emerald. In a good way, of course.

No kidding! There was a loud bang in our kitchen, so I am pretty sure the hawk was flying too low after something and careened into one of our kitchen windows, and that is how the cat managed to get it. The hawk and cat were about the same size, so whole thing was fascinating and horrible all at once. Once I got the cat to stop trying to bring the bird inside, I took it away from him (quite dead at this point) and boy did he howl at me.

Wow, hawks are pretty big. My cat is almost 14 pounds and he wouldn’t go after a hawk. Well, maybe he would if it was incapacitated. My cat is constantly hunting. He killed a small bird today. I over feed him so he won’t be as interested but he does it anyway. I feel bad when he kills the birds although he can have all the mice that he wants.

SOTD = By Kilian Gold Knight

After yesterday’s 1937 L’Heure Bleue, anything else with similar vibe pale by comparison, as was the case here. The Candy Perfume Boy loved this though so I will re-test. How did I come by my sample of this and the woman one? A BG SA mailed me 2 sets! I’m either on two separate lists OR she got distracted when preparing the mailers. I’m not complaining 🙂

And now, for Commuting Woes No. 400 — Noise Pollution!

A guy standing in front of where I was sitting could not get away from texting for a 10 minute ride. Every so often, I heard a little girl’s voice saying “hello? hello?” I thought it was cute until I realized that this was his incoming text alarm. How annoying!

A guy walked in with a pail containing varying sizes of what looked like galvanized iron siding or roofing. He then proceeded to take one piece out, laid it across the top of the pail to make a makeshift seat. How clever! All was well until this poor girl bumped into him (I would like to think by mistake because the dude was scary-looking). He then stood up and started to curse out the poor girl who apologized but he kept taunting her with “No, you’re not.” and the girl decided to just keep quiet. He then turned his attention to an obviously Jewish guy and started to spout off bible verses with references to Judaism of the fire and brimstone variety. As we neared our stop, many people started to get up and away from the guy as he was spinning himself into an explosive frenzy. Thank goodness nothing came of it!

Yesterday, commuting back home a woman sitting in front of me decided it was time for a snack. She opened her back, took out a plastic fork and a plastic container with apple and orange slices. It took her around 10 minutes to finish them. Then…. she proceeded to clean her teeth with the plastic fork slowly and careful. Gross!!!!! I was thankful to be just 3 stops away from getting off, because I was already getting nauseated.

Most, if not all, public transportation have signs that say No Food or Drink but no one ever pays attention! I once had someone eating spicy Chinese food. He got off the first stop but the smell lingered long after he left and the smell got stuck on my clothes.

On the teeth cleaning, that is truly disgusting. I can probably top you — a co-worker used to floss her teeth in her cubicle. Yuck!

SotD = Geisha Vanilla Hinoki. SO GOOD. I love the gentle development through citrus-aromatic then woods and vanilla.

hello, NST weekenders, it’s good to be among online friends and come here for my perfume fix. I have just a few friends nearby who wear scent. One wears essential oils exclusively. I’m slowly winning her over with Infusion d’Iris.

Yesterday I visited my employer’s human resources office to do some paperwork. The woman who helped me had on a beautiful floral scent. It was a perfect halo around her. If I had not been in the HR department (hello, sensitivity training!) I would have asked her what it was. It was like White Diamonds but smelled even better on her.

Loved seeing Leia Organa up top today. Carrie Fisher, what a piece of work. She still makes me smile.

      You could de-personalize the question:

Instead of “You smell nice! What perfume are you wearing?”

Use “The perfume you’re wearing smells nice! May I ask which perfume you’re wearing?”

I started today in Dzongkha, which was a beautiful peaceful way to start a relaxing day. After a shower I tried L’Anomyme by A Lab on Fire. The opening was very sharp and I didn’t care for it too much, but after 30 minutes or so the most beautiful soft amber became dominant. I smell wonderful right now.

One of my best friends always smells like Aveda products. My other best friend loves Replica’s Lazy Sunday Morning and Beach Walk. They both smell really nice – hugs are always a treat!

HI NST’ers, I have a question: My 24 year old daughter purchased the current Mis Dior recently and likes it although feels it has no lasting power at all. Perhaps we could layer or add an oil, or body creme to help bring out the character of this fragrance.
Can you all help guide me here with some recommendations on what to do. I don’t want the new full bottle to lanquish on the shelf.
    Money already spent and all.
    Thanks!!!

Depending on where you purchased, perhaps you can return it? If not, maybe try layering it with another scent or find vintage on EBay to layer it with? I often layer modern Cristalle with vintage.

Lots of good advice here: https://nstperfume.com/2012/02/27/perfumista-tip-how-to-make-fragrance-last-through-the-day/

I use Neutrogena unscented body oil (which is sesame oil) then spray for those perfumes that just don’t want to stick around. For me, that works.

Thank You Petunia and Aparatchick these are all great suggestions! I use a fragrance free Burts Bees for babies for the same reason. I grew up on Neutrogena! It’s the best. I need to extend AND amp up at the same time…. I guess I could pick a major note in the heart and use that to magnify the scent. I think it’s the peony that she loves.

I had forgotten about the article you posted apartachick- I think I can play with layering first with a EdP with another fragrance with a more powerful peony or rose- even an orange then add the lotion. Wasn’t sure which note to accentuate on…..
she bought miss Dior bloom as it turns out…….

    Hey all-

Am home recuperating from surgery. Current scent is a combo of Ortigia Sandalo soap + Sandalwood /Vanilla dry body oil (Pecksniffs?) that I got from Marshall’s for $5.99. Subtle, warm, comforting and not challenging at all. Perfect for recuperation.

Am in serious pain, guys, no joke, so thank goodness for Oxycodone, tea, bowls brimming with figs/plums/walnuts and down quilts.

Right now, my Japanese friend has come over and simmered whole citrus on the stove and my new tenant has ground whole lavender buds into a powder and sprinkled that in the carpet. So the house smells softly of lavender and orange, which is so soothing and calming.

Happy Saturday! Today was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day which I largely spent indoors since what I was hoping was just a temporary reaction to the flu shot is actually a bugger of a head cold. Boo. And fortunately, my music recital, which was tonight, was rescheduled for December because the venue had to bump us. So relieved about that.
I’m wearing a slathering of Ancient Resins and burning a candle from L’Occitane that smells like the Bienvenue Chez room spray-bright citrus/aromatic. Enjoying smelly things while I still can!

SOTD was bel ami, perfect for the fall. I wait tables at a fancy restaurant here in SLC and a player for the Utah Jazz came in for dinner, he was wearing something I definitely recognized but couldn’t remember the name. It was definitely niche, argghhh it’s driving me crazy. His VERY french mother was wearing Shalimar… it smelled fantastic.

Here in Malaga The Other Mister Koenigsberg and I have been plunged (very willingly I might add) back into High Summer, with blue skies, hot sun and the occasional light breeze. Perfume-wise it’s a bit of a disaster – it’s only worth a light spray in the morning and then sun protection takes over for the day and mosquito protection for the evening. How those of you in hot climates ever get to enjoy your scents is beyond me. :^)

SOTD yesterday was Penhaligon’s “Orange Blossom”.

    Top: neroli, bergamot, lemon, pink pepper, violet leaf and cardamon;
    Mid: jasmine, tuberose, rose, orchid, peach blossom and orange;
Base: musk, sandalwood, virginia cedar and vanille.

I’m not a fan of Penhaligon’s in general, but this one was acceptable if unmemorable.

SOTD today is Etat Libre d’Orange “Cologne”.

    Top: blood orange, bergamot and green notes;
    Mid: orange blossom and jasmine;
    Base: musk and leather.

Another unmemorable citrus cologne. Truly not my favourite genre, but it’s fine for the heat here and a finer perfume would be ruined by all the lotions and potions I mentioned above.

Today TOMK and I went back to look at a house we were kind-of thinking of buying earlier in the year. Seen afresh, our decision not to proceed was vindicated, which is good. We’ll be looking at some new places Tue and Wed.

Ah yes, “the house that got away”. We have one here too; unfortunately viewed it the day before an interested buyer was due to make an offer, which in Spain means putting 10% down irrevocably. I’m not sure I’d ever buy a house on a day’s notice but in this case we hadn’t even checked we could get the mortgage, so had to let it go.

In La Chascona, the house that Pablo Neruda bought and adorned for his red-headed lover, later wife, Matilde Urrutia — the perfume of the greatest love poems…

“The bed is covered with a simple white cloth. On the dressing table: a bottle of Chanel No. 5 and a hand mirror, not a lot more. Still, a scent of passion emanates.

“’Two happy lovers make one bread, a single moon drop in the grass. Walking, they cast two shadows that flow together; waking, they leave one sun empty in their bed.’”

Fall allergies. So bizarre. I bought local honey yesterday made with Fall flowers to help build tolerance.

Poudre de Riz today as I head out soon for haircut. I’ve pretty much been a short hair girl for 35 years, but I let it grow out this past year. First cut since February. I still struggle with the feeling of hair on my neck. And the general floppiness.

I do like this scent. I want to load it up!

Love Poudre de Riz. This is the perfect time of year for it.

I’ve also been a short-hair gal most of my life and can’t stand having hair touching… anything! Face, neck, shoulders, collarbones – yuck yuck yuck! I did grow it out a few years ago (which took a few years) and once it was long enough to pull back into a ponytail, that’s pretty much how I wore it. I could only deal with wearing it down for a few hours at a time.

    Second post…

We finally bought a new computer, and in the transition, my Excel fragrance matrix was somehow blown away. Whoosh.
I’m trying not to be too upset about it, but it had all of my notes on frags I’ve tried, what I have on hand, what I’ve received in swaps or just in kindness, what I’ve sent to others, addresses, samples I want to order, everything.
I can recreate a lot of it from email correspondence and how I have my stuff organized, and in truth, I wasn’t completely happy with how I had the matrix structured. So I’ll try to create a more practical matrix this time!
Soooo, my old matrix had several tabs: for FB’s on hand, samples on hand, samples to order, swapmeet/splitmeet activity, etc. There was confusion between tabs, and it was starting to become more than a bit disorganized.
I’m thinking of having ONE tab only and just having drop downs for the names/houses/perfumers/bottle size/formulation/date of purchase or receipt/source.

Any advice from fellow perfumistas on how to track all of this fun?

And I will put this puppy on a flash drive only. I’m not going through this again.

Ohhhhh nooooo! That is really distressing. I have excel spreadsheets for all kinds of stuff and would be at an absolute loss if I lost any of them.

Tip 1: I save all of my documents (and everything else) to the cloud. That way I can access them anywhere and if any of my devices crash, all of my data can be retrieved.

Tip 2: I developed my perfume spreadsheet from an excel compilation of “Perfumes: The Guide” that had all of the fragrances listed in the book in a spreadsheet. I made some changes here and there, but it was a good starting point as it already had hundreds of perfumes compiled in one spot. It used to be available online but the link I have no longer works. If you’d like I can email you the actual document that the link led to.

Good idea about the cloud. Unfortunately, my IT expert, who lives onsite …..????……is deeply distrustful of the cloud concept. I’m not sure we have anything on the cloud right now.
Now about that Guide-based spreadsheet . . . I would love to use that as a starting point! If you’d send it my way, I’d be most grateful! Thank you!!

I am so sorry, @nancyleandros. I’ve lost data due to hard drive failures and it’s wrenching. Cloud copies are a good idea, and Google sheets is a reasonable substitute for Excel. That said, I wonder if you could find a copy of it in the Documents subdirectory? If you have a Mac maybe try Spotlight search? Or go into terminal and search on file type or filename strings. My SO is a computer guy so I get (grudging) extra help with lost files and IT catastrophes.

Hi anngd, I need to do some research on Google sheets, and digging around in the subdirectories is a great idea. I’ve done some of that, but it never hurts to check again. I’m a little calmer now than I was when I first discovered the problem.

I have nearly 20 years of professional files and a horror of losing them. I used to back up (irregularly) onto a hard drive. Now my solution is also to put everything in the cloud, right from the start. I moved to Microsoft Office365 for work reasons anyway, so I have OneDrive, but DropBox is also easy to use.

Oh no on losing all that data! I feel sick just thinking about it. For extremely important information, I have paper printouts stored in a safe place. Every so often, I print out an updated version of those files if I have added or edited the data they contain. I have just backed up some of my other documents and files onto a flash drive after reading your post.

Since I’ll be having a trip at the end of the week, this weekend I had to take my cat to my mom’s, who lives in my hometown 70 km away from the capital.
First snow this autumn came on Saturday and my hometown looked like a fairy tale with it’s golden dome churches, two storey buildings and wooden houses.
I’m feeling very nostalgic and I already miss the cat 🙂
I was wearing Organza Indecence and it’s warmth seemed very appropriate for the mood and the weather.

When I came back home very good news were waiting in the mailbox: zoologist samples have arrived and tomorrow after I pick them up at the post offfice I’m going to reek of civets and bats and pandas and maybe more! 🙂

SOTD is Queen, which warms me to the cockles of my little heart.

Freshly showered and now doing laundry at a local place in Ontario Oregon. Never do laundry in a public laundromat on a Sunday. This is now one of my Top 20 Rules of Hoboism. Some other rules include: 1) Wander about looking disheveled and lost- no one will pay you one bit of attention. 2) Never pass up an opportunity to fill you gas tank and/or empty your bladder. 3) Give your dog a bone to keep her busy.

Cheers all! Have a great Monday ✌????

I have a miniature crisis (I mean, let’s keep perspective), and I’m hoping you can help. As you might recall, I’m splitting 10 Corso Como for the splitmeet. The sprayer, however, doesn’t seem to work properly. The first spray or two go fine, and then it peters out to almost nothing, and instead, the juice flows out the base of the sprayer all over the bottle. I’ve decanted about 7 mLs and have probably lost 2 mL to this horrible mess (and also it took about an hour).

What should I do? How do you remove the top from a permanent bottle? I got it from fragrancenet.com. Do you know if they replace defective bottles? Are they much less likely to replace if you explain that you were spraying multiple times because you’re making decants?
