Diptyque holiday candles 2017

Posted by Robin on 21 October 2017 17 Comments

Diptyque has introduced their Holiday 2017 candle collection. This year's trio was decorated by artist Philippe Baudelocque and inspired by the constellations.

Feu d'Agrumes (above left; Fiery Orange) ~ "It is said that in a fight, the goddess Athena grabbed a dragon by the tail, swung it around her head, and then cast it into the heavens among the stars. Guardian of the garden of the Hesperides, the dragon evokes the color red and the warmth of a fire. Blood orange from Italy, smokey wood and cloves crackling joyfully in a burning fire."

Larmes d'Encens (above center; Incense Tears) ~ "The enigmatic Phoenix who is reborn from his ashes inspired the blue candle, the color of immortality. Residing in a fragrant nest covered with leaves and laurels, with bits of cinnamon and Myrrh, beautifully compared to the tears of poets. This mythical creature inspired a perfume of incense and Myrrh enhanced by a warm, burning cinnamon."

Forêt Givrée (above right; Frosted Forest) ~ "The constellation of the unicorn contains a nebula located at 2600 light-years called the Christmas Tree, the birthplace of sparkling stars. Combined with the green color, embodying harmony and beauty, the unicorn inspired a candle reminiscent of the invigorating scents of the majestic conifers. Fir needles, Hinoki wood and mint mix intimately to compose the rare aromas of lush frosted forests."

The Diptyque Feu d'Agrumes, Larmes d'Encens and Forêt Givrée candles are $35 each for a 70g mini candle (burn time 30 hours) or $70 for the full-sized 190g (burn time 60 hours). A coffret with three full sized candles is $210.

O.M.G. I better get started on the buying. I kinda sorta decided not to go to Sniffapalooza so the “savings” from that will go towards this purchase.

Always “need” these. I’ll miss seeing you- will perhaps be less “enabled” because my perfume math is not as advanced as yours
      ;-) .

Half of me still wants to go and then leave in time to dress up for a Halloween party (or farty as the hostess likes to call her shindig).

Might be my favorite year ever, and might be the first time I really want all 3.

These look wonderful. I’ve never had a Diptyque candle – is the throw generally good?

A coffret of minis would be more in my budget, however…

Wait, so you can buy one of each of the large ones (i.e. all three) for $210 or a coffret of all 3 for $310?? That seems a little weird.

SO sorry, I keep messing up prices lately! That is $210, just fixed.

And adding that they also usually do a coffret of the mini candles — haven’t seen it yet this year but would guess it’s coming.

The Dipryque candles have a lot of throw and the scents are mostly what you expect.

I’ve managed to resist their holiday collections previously, but these are calling my name, no, more like yelling my name. Gorgeous! I want all three.

Gah!! I made a promise to myself that I would use up all my mediocre candles before buying any more. But that unicorn……!

The incense one is usually my favorite of the bunch and this has my name all over it. last years was just ok, but this incense with a touch of cinnamon is certainly going to be burning strong in my home this holiday. Not in love with the colored waxes, however the jars are very striking.
