Yes it is! When I saw the keychain, I thought it said “Casa di Mama”, which I thought was charming. Since Andre Hamann is German, I imagined his Dad was German and his Mom was Italian, and he was torn between the two worlds, between the spreadsheets and the sea. But no, the keychain reads “Casa al mare”.

LOL! But what was weird to me about the idea that he was “going home” was that he went there on his motorcycle, got in a nice car and left. It was almost like a car commercial.

Oh, that’s true – good point! Certainly for me, if he crashed on the couch in that beautiful house I would feel more kinship for him. He made me so nervous swerving around those curves!

And why did he leave his motorbike parked at the end of the drive and walk to the garage . He should probably quit his job, sell his house and buy a camper van

Actually you could write a number of interesting scenarios based on this. He parked at the end of the drive because he has a key but does not own this house and was not supposed to be there? It’s not his car, either? Something terrible happened there when he was a kid, that’s why the only memories he has are of himself, no other family memories?

He was a the Family’s ward, a war orphan. They gave him the best education so he could get a fancy job in the city, and raised him with all of the advantages, but he was never one of them. He fell in love with the daughter, and was heartbroken when she accepted the offer of a loveless marriage with an appropriate suitor, who was far less buff and steely than he. Tragically the whole family died at the wedding, details are fuzzy here, he tries to go home, but he has no home, just his car and the sea.

Or, less tragically, maybe at the moment they are all away planning the wedding, and he is contemplating an intervention.

LOL — I guess I was looking at the house and the car, and you were looking at the eyes 🙂
