Indie line Smell Bent has launched Body Language, a new fragrance collection inspired by pop icons of the 1980s. I Would Die For U (for Prince), I Want Your Sex (for George Michael) and Modern Love (shown; for David Bowie), are "infused with pheromone to communicate in ways [Smell Bent's] perfumes never have before".
I Would Die For U ~ "in a nutshell: pear jelly bean / notes: pear jelly bellies, iris butter, vanilla absolute and patchouli infused with oxytocin / fun facts: the scents in our body language series intermingle the chemistry of perfume with the chemicals of the body. oxytocin*, featured in this scent, is a signaling molecule responsible for social and sexual bonding and is often referred to as the love hormone."
I Want Your Sex ~ "in a nutshell: sweet rubber / notes: jasmine absolute, amber, saffron, patchouli and coconut infused with pheromone / fun facts: inspired by the pioneering Jovan scents of the 1970s & 80s, this is an ode to George Michael and his unwavering want for your sex!"
Modern Love ~ "in a nutshell: animalic amber / notes: sweaty bodies, narcotic florals, and pheromone finished with dry amber / fun facts: an ode to the incomparable david bowie. it was hard to choose from his extensive catalog of incarnations, but 80s bowie was the one we grew up with. and he rounded out our triptych so nicely."
Smell Bent I Would Die For U, I Want Your Sex and Modern Love are available in 4 ($8) or 50 ($65) ml Eau de Toilette.

Argh. I think I have to try the Prince one.
I don’t even want to think about it — I have had Modern Love stuck in my brain since seeing this earlier today and I want it gone 😉
I basically think pheromones are made up (don’t @ me) but I am really intrigued by the pear jelly bean idea. . . And, of course, by the Bowie nod! Maybe it’s time to give Smell Bent a shot.
Ha, I adore Bowie but pear jelly bean is pretty much a no go for me!
I don’t believe in pheromones either. I even saw a company trying to peddle one geared towards transsexuals. To make sure they don’t emit confusing scent signals. Talk about profoting on people’s insecurities!
And oxytocin is used, intravenously, to induce labour. Love hormone?
Big fan of the house, will have to try these!
