Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, and welcome to September! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that will bring you good luck for September, or wear a fragrance that reminds you of rabbits, or wear whatever you picked this morning while saying "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit" aloud.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I took the easy route (even easier since I stole the idea from Hamamelis) and went with Honoré des Prés I Love Les Carottes.
Reminder: On 9/8 we're doing 'world niche'... wear a fragrance from a niche brand that isn't French, Italian or British.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit!. Welcome September! However, I am not happy at all to say goodbye to summer!
Wearing Corsica Furiosa for the 3 rabbits in New Zealand that last month rode on the back of sheep to avoid being drowned by floodwaters in the area.
I think of them longing for a dry, warm, comfortable place full of green, flowers, beauty where they could rest, eat, jump and be happy. They deserved it after that strong sense of survival. Spring is arriving soon for you guys!

Thanks for sharing the story. Yay for the rabbits, the sheep, and the neighbor/farmer who got them all to higher ground!
They all must be doing fine now.
Thank you for that story! Loved the photo, so cute and smart!
Glad you like it!
Nature is amazing. I hope they’re safe and thriving somewhere, too.
They were just down the road and will now be hoping around huge paddocks with lush green grass, enjoying spring and all that that implies.
I hope so too!
Amazing and wonderful!
It is! 🙂
How sweet! And what a great photo!
Yes, it is a lovely story!
What a cool story! Thanks for sharing.
🙂
Bunnies! Kevin and I were just watching bunny agility contest (yes, it’s a thing apparently) videos last night. Cute little guys!
Today’s SOTD is Hermes Jour D’Hermes layered over Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier body oil. Happy Friday!
SmokeyToes, speaking of cute agility contests, I feel it is my solemn duty to inform all DMV friends that there is a NATIONAL CAPITAL CAT SHOW at Dulles Expo Center next weekend, complete with feline agility contest. Not affiliated in any way, just a particularly enthused attendee.
Now that is something I’d love to see!
Me too!
three!
Almost went with Jd’H but it’s too soft for me to wear to work. I like a bit more oopmf if I can’t reapply for 7+ hours.
I am wafting Jo Malone’s Carrot Blossom & Fennel from last summer’s Herb Garden Series.
I get a soft minty iris feel from it.
It has an actual carrot note, so I figured our bunnies would enjoy it.
twins, wearing this one after yoga!
Aww, that bunny looks a lot like the one that is living in the bushes in my front yard.
SOTD is Byredo Seven Veils for that carrot top note. The juice itself is even a little orange-ish.
Today I have a few last minute things to get done before we take my oldest off to college tomorrow. After taking a gap year (it’s a millennial thing), the day has finally come. A part of my heart has been slowly breaking over the past couple of weeks in anticipation. The other part of me is so excited! I’m excited for him to be entering this stage of his life. I still think back on my college years as some of the best ever! I’m also excited for me because he has chosen my old alma mater. I’m looking forward to revising the campus and the new sights in the city that surrounds the university.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!
*revisiting* more coffee please
Oh, very good luck to you and your son! That’s just what we’ve been going through the past few weeks, it’s quite emotional. Good for your son for doing a gap year, I tried (but failed) to talk my boy into doing that so he would be more ready with “life skills”.
Thank you! Yes, it’s a bittersweet time for sure. I’m glad he’s taken the extra time and I feel confident that he is ready- probably more so than I am, lol.
Yeah. It is an adjustment, that’s for sure.
Best wishes to you and your new college student!
Thank you!
Enjoy the visit to your old haunts! I hope the drop off goes well.
Thank you! I’m really looking forward to it!
you smell great!
Thanks!
Best wishes to you all!
Thank you KellyC! Good luck to you with the big move!
Oh good call on that carrot note.
Yeah, I kind of have to search for the carrot note myself but read many other reviews that mention it. Your review over at NST was one of them. (That was you, right?!)
Oops, I mean over at BdJ.
Good luck with the changes coming up.
Thank you!
Good luck to you both!
Thanks!
Best of luck to you and your son!
Thanks!
My (rather overachieving) niece has decided to do a gap year as well. I think it’s a great idea, particularly for a generation who don’t generally seem to have jobs in HS, and for whom college is an extremely expensive proposition.
I suspect I’d have been like Robin’s son and just want to get on with it. I was one of those who took a full-time load every summer to speed things along.
Yes — and I probably wanted the same, but if I had it to do over again, a gap year traveling would be a fine thing!
I was one of those kids who could have benefited from some time off between high school and college, but it wasn’t discussed or encouraged back in my day. I did end up taking a year off between my second and third year to get my head on straight and figure out what I wanted to do with my life. It was one of the best decisions of my college career.
Unscented in preparation for sniffing with a very fun friend at Tysons Galleria later! Top priority is Chanel Gabrielle (keeping expectations low after Angela’s review)- any other new releases y’all have liked that would be at a Saks or Neiman’s?
I have enjoyed my sample of by Kilian Black Phantom. Have fun!!
Enjoy
I’m wearing ELDO Vierges et Toreros — for no particularly good reason, except that I rather like it.
Got nothin’ for bunnies, sadly. If I had any of Vivienne Westwood’s Alice series (Naughty, Cheeky, Flirty, Sunny), I’d wear one. Cuz, you know, Alice…
Happy Friday, everyone!
You smell nice and I’m sure if I was more creative I would think of a connection to rabbits.
Thank you, Robin, and never mind: sometimes my thoughts are too obscure even for me… 😕
Alice… In Wonderland… with the White Rabbit…
Sigh. Long week.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit !
I am French so I had never heard of this before.
As a child, I had a cute toy rabbit as a pet. His name was Joli Cœur, literally lovely heart because I thought he had the shape of a heart. It also means something like a womanizer !
Well I am wearing Epi d’or by Lubin. The yellow packaging with golden wheat made me think of rabbits. I love its powdery floral scent. Ripe fruits and Tonka beans go well with the coming of Autumn. It has a distinctive sillage.
I love les carottes is a good choice. I know the team behind that brand and they are great people. Long live Honoré des Près. I say the same about the gentleman behind Lubin.
Have a lovely day y’all.
‘Lubin’ sounds like ‘lapin.’ Sort of. When I say it.
SFguy, you’re a funny guy, too! ????
I’ve been curious to try Epi d’Or and now it’s moved to the top of my sampling wish list. No stores around here carry Lubin, sadly.
I had never heard of it either — someone here mentioned it in the comments ages ago, maybe Mals?
Nope, wasn’t me. I learned of it here. 🙂
Interesting. Well, I will have to try a comment search and see if I can figure it out.
I think Ede97005 was wearing it a couple of days ago!
Angela reviewed Epidor a couple weeks ago.
Actually it was in May !!! Time is flying.
Good morning everyone!
So I have too ask: if you’re up past midnight, do you have to rabbit exactly at midnight? Or can it be when you wake up?
I’m wearing Iris Silver Mist, which doesn’t remind me of carrots per se. More like turnips. But if I remember correctly, rabbits shouldn’t really eat a lot of carrots anyway!
Seriously, can a superstition like this actually have RULES??
HA! Fair enough. But I could use the luck this September. 🙂
Then I hope you will get it!
rabbit rabbit rabbit
In Tenue de Soirée. the pom pom looks like rabbit fur
Little ones slept longer this morning, jet lag subsiding after 2 nights
It does – nice one!
My eyes saw “porn” in the place of “Pom”- I have no idea why????
I think we would be good friends. I love jokes like that
I think I’ll blame Tom Ford for the Pom/Porn issue due to the lascivious name of his most recent scent! You’re a dol,l and if we were my friends in in 3D, I’d count myself very lucky indeed! ????
Good morning! My rabbit is the Velveteen Rabbit, and I picked the fragrance I felt was closest to my favorite lines from the story:
“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”
So I went for Cuir de Lancôme, which I feel has that lived-in comfort to it and also a sort of melancholy love-and-longing beauty.
Such a beautiful story, and so melancholy, like many of the best children’s books.
SoTD is vintage Cabochard, because somehow I confused today’s project with back to school. Not a melancholy fragrance at all, but I did live in it senior year in college.
So beautiful! Thank you!
Oh thanks for that piercing bit of lovely nostalgia, I needed that ???? you smell lovely too.
Wonderful. And you smell lovely as well.
<3 So profound. And you smell great.
Thanks for the reminder of that amazing story.
Lovely. That book always makes me think of one of my oldest friends. It’s her favorite. And you are wearing a gorgeous scent.
I teared up – that passage reminds me of my Grandma, as it was one of her favorite books. I can’t believe I’ve gone this whole week without that book coming to mind! Thank you for the beautiful reminder, and you smell lovely! 🙂
Thank you for this.
You smell wonderful.
Likely no scent for me until possibly later today. More tests for my kitty. Ultrasound and possibly more. It all sounds rather ominous, which is challenging because she looks and acts perfectly fine, other than being more cuddly than usual. Everyone is confused because I won’t feed them until she goes into her carrier. Too difficult to keep her away from any food in this tiny apartment.
I did shower with Wash Behind Your Ears, which is very orange and has a carrot and jasmine scent. It has been awhile, and I’d forgotten how nicely rich and subtle it is.
I discovered yesterday that Ricky’s in NYC sells some of the products in The Ordinary line, which was nice to see.
I forgot to mention but I also washed up with Wash Behind Your Ears. Lovely stuff but a bit pricy.
It is a splurge, as are most all of Lush products. But it is very nice.
I hope everything goes fine with your kitty and you receive good news.
Seconding that!
Thirding!
Hoping for the best for your kitty!
Sending good vibes to you and kitty!
Good luck for your kitty!
Hope you get good news after the test!
Wishing good health to your kitty.
Good luck with your kitty!
Thank you everyone. We are in a waiting game right now. Upshot is a test procedure that is normally not risky has put her in a very dangerous blood loss situation. We are simply hoping for the best for now.
*hugs*
Oh geez. That’s a tough situation to be in.
Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit!
Remembering the White Rabbit’s concerns about time, I’ve unearthed a bottle of M. Micallef’s Watch which has an actual timepiece embedded in the bottle. The watch might have worked once but it doesn’t now, so it only tells the right time twice a day. I wonder if the White Rabbit’s watch had stopped, too?
The juice itself does feel a bit like a mad tea party. A very sweet pastry of peaches and vanilla, a blowsy bouquet of tuberose, jasmine and some other unidentified flowers on the table. The ladies in attendance certainly aren’t drinking tea. They might perhaps be a bit tipsy from drinking a fruit filled Pimm’s Cups.
I haven’t worn this for a very, very long time and now it does make me feel a bit as if I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole. What could I have been thinking and who was I way back then when I used to wear it?
Very creative choice!
Love this post. Re your last paragraph – I think that about other things in my life, too: who was I when I wore this, thought this was important to buy, wrote this, etc.
What a perfect choice. I love reading everyone’s interpretations of today’s theme.
I was wondering if there are any Alice in Wonderland inspired perfumes!
Great post!
Excellent! …A Pimm’s sounds really good right about now, as it’s currently 103° here.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit – I remembered, thanks to Robin’s tip yesterday (she suggested a drawing of a bunny, and that made me realize that I have a small stuffed bunny that would do as well). SOTD is OJ Woman from a new FB that arrived yesterday – hopefully an omen of the good luck it will bring me in September. Even if it doesn’t, though, it’s heaven to wear. And the bottle wins the Heaviest Cap Ever prize. 🙂
Oh lovely – OJ Woman is a new favorite of mine, too!
You smell awesome! Congrats on the new bottle. I have one as well, no regrets. Such a great scent. 🙂
Ooh, you smell fantastic! And congrats on the new bottle, pretty sure that is my next fb purchase also.
I really need to wear OJ Woman more this fall. I have struggled with it. You’d think the green would be right in my wheelhouse.
You smell so good!
Thanks everyone! And the FB came from … wait for it … LuckyScent! I didn’t even make the connection that Glannys points out so perfectly below. Thanks, Glannys!
I took an easy route, too. I washed myself with Lush Bouncy Bunny shower jelly (mostly smells of oranges) and then sprayed some Rouge Bunny Rouge Vespers. Soft muted florals and subtle fruity notes – a delicate lily-of-the-valley scent I can wear in summer. Strangely, my mother declared it’s a spicy floral perfume. Maybe I’m anosmic to some of the ingredients? I get muguet, apple, citrus, musk and a little rose and violet. No spices for me.
And a picture for this week’s theme – http://grekoline.ru/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/727.jpg
It’s an illustration to Russian children’s story Grandfather Mazay and Hares. It’s about an old hunter who rescued hares during spring floods and released them safely back in the wild. All those stories about people and animals affected by Harvey made me remember this tale.
And for those who think they do not have anything for today’s project: there are lots of interpretations, but probably the easiest one is to wear anything available at luckyscent. Because it’s automatically a lucky scent. 😀
Ha – perfect!
????
Ah, good one! Hadn’t thought of wearing a RBR.
OH! Must find that shower jelly! Is it delicious?
Probably excellent for those who cannot get enough of orange. I have not made up mind yet whether it’s more like Fanta (in a good way) or more like that smell you get after you make some orange juice. I am not into mono-orange (orange solifruit? :D), so it’s not quite my thing, but it’s a mouthwatering and cheerful fragrance. And this jelly looks very cute.
I am afraid it’s going to be hard to find, Robin. It was part of 2016 Easter limited edition range.
Ah, thank you! Still worth knowing because they do cycle products in and out.
If I were participating in the project today I would be wearing Iris Silver Mist, my carrotiest of scents. But, I’m not. Instead I’m in Femininite du Bois, which I plan to wear the heck out of this fall.
You smell fab
Mmm. I just smelled FdB for the first time a few weeks ago and I totally agree that it is a perfect fall scent. You smell great today and all season long!
This theme made me think of the golden retriever we had when my daughter was growing up. He appropriated a stuffed bunny toy of hers and carried it with him everywhere, plus his favorite thing in life was to chase rabbits every chance he got. Such a sweet dog. I think I wore Pleasures during that time and I don’t have it now, so I’ll wear Coco instead for this very cool fall morning.
My golden retriever carries around her babies (stuffed animals) like that and never destroys them. It’s very cute. She is an almost 12 year old sweetheart.
Hi! I’ve been thinking of you, Texas perfume friend, were you north of the flooding?
Hi A, I think I’m your Colorado perfume friend – never in TX. Although this summer, DH and I moved to the Seattle area (big change after 25 years in CO). So I’m fine. But a little unsettled still. Thanks.
Lol I’m so sorry, and so old!! I’m glad you are doing well, that’s a big move. I’ve missed seeing your comments around the perfumed corner of the internet. I don’t know why I thought you were from Texas and I’m glad my husband doesn’t read perfume blogs, he gives me a hard time about my senior moments!
No apology necessary and thanks for thinking of me. In fact you were right, I AM “north” of the flooding!
I will be in my Lancôme Mille et Une Roses, which just seems to come to mind when I think bunnies – soft and cozy, maybe it’s bunnies playing in the rose garden?
On a secondary note, I have to say that I came to find bunnies less cute and more annoying as we had many in our yard in Colorado and I had to fence in the garden or there was no hope of growing anything.
I know what you mean! My quite gentle pacifist mom was ready to shoot some rabbits that kept coming up on her porch eating her geraniums. “They only want to eat the flowers!” she said, outraged.
Cottontail rabbits were the bane of my parents’ garden. They ate everything, not just the flowers. My father would not only shoot them, but eat them, too. All by himself since the rest of us thought it was cruel and barbaric to do that to such soft, gentle, albeit greedy creatures.
Now they’re an endangered species here in Maine due to loss of habitat. The last wild rabbit I actually saw was in the bushes outside a subway station close to downtown Boston, most likely an escaped pet.
Oh that’s sad about the rabbits in Maine. They’re quite in abundance here in the ‘burbs of Cleveland and in my home state of MI.
The biggest nuisance to my gardens have been white-tailed deer, who will mow down EVERY leaf, stem, and bud in their path.
We have rabbits, gophers, and deer. I refer to the deer as ‘overgrown rabbits’. So what can I grow? Rosemary, lavender, daffodils, and native plants.
They’re a major nuisance in WA as well, but I will forever find them adorable 🙂
We have TONS. For reasons that aren’t clear to me, my husband wages a longstanding war against the groundhogs but finds the bunnies cute and plants “extra” for them.
An offering to rabbit gods. 😀
I know this may seem tenuous but I associated the word “rabbit” immediately with Wittgenstein’s duck-rabbit, a kind of visual puzzle. Most philosophers I’d venture to say are likely to do this. You can view a duck-rabbit here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophical_Investigations#/media/File:Duck-Rabbit_illusion.jpg
It’s an image that your eyes can see in two ways but not both simultaneously. That struck me as raising an interesting question about a perfume that is like that and my thoughts went to the somewhat infamous Patchouli 24 by Le Labo. I happened to have a sample with me that the nice SA in the new Le Labo boutique in Houston gave me when I visited a few weeks ago, so that is my SOTD. I think this is a good case of a perfume that evokes very strong opposing reactions of love/hate even from the same person. I put it on and think “Whew, why did I do that?!” and then take another sniff and think “Oh wow, I love this!”. It’s both weirdly disgusting and singularly beautiful. So here’s to duck-rabbit perfumes!
Neat idea! I think my duck-rabbit perfume is Rhinoceros.
Oh, interesting! Duck-rabbit would be such a fun topic for another Friday community project.
oh yes! a duck-rabbit fragrance day would be a fun challenge.
Yes, it’s perfect for that!
marvelous! I love the duck-rabbit, it tickles my brain.
I like that disgusting/beautiful feeling in fragrance, the jolie laide balance, attraction and repulsion working together.
Dyptique 34 boulevard saint germain has a bit of slightly rotten funk that works like that.
Hey, that’s pretty cool!
^This!
Loved your post, thanks!
Very interesting–thanks!
I’d forgotten about the duck-rabbit until I saw your post. I was fascinated by optical illusions like that as a kid. Thanks for the memory jog.
Yay, I remember the rabbits his morning! That must count for something. Enjoying SmellBent Gypsy again today while at work.
On a disturbing note, read about a nurse who refused to draw blood for police as pt was not conscious to give consent, pt was not under arrest, and law enforcement had no warrant. She was protecting her pt’s rights then was summarily arrested, cuffed, and dragged out of hospital. Then released and never charged with a crime. Amazing!
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/utah-nurse-arrested-refusing-give-patient-s-blood-police-n798021
Very disturbing but not surprising to me, unfortunately. It’s also quite striking that no hospital administrators intervened on her behalf. Good for her for standing her ground, though. That’s her Olympian spirit!
Yes, and security stood by and watched the whole thing????
I don’t know about ‘administrators’ per se, but to be fair, the person she had on speaker on her phone (referred to as “man on phone” in the NBC video) was her supervisor–according to WaPo and other sources–and was trying to help her, as apparently we’re the two men in white t-shirts. https://mobile.twitter.com/ShaunKing/status/903606740817764352/video/1
What I personally find fascinating is that it’s when her supervisor says, “You’re making a huge mistake because you’re threatening a nurse,” that the cop just snaps. Apparently, calling out abuse of power doesn’t sit well with those abusing it.
What the what? Talk about illegal search and seizure. She should sue.
I JUST read that before I got on here and was so disturbed.
AND I’ve already garnered 3 compliments on Gypsy????????
I am horrified, but not surprised. Her patients are lucky to have such a brave person looking out for them.
I continued with my garden theme by wearing Le Jardin de Monsieur Li. I thought about using Apres la Mousson, but that felt a little too cynical, especially since people in my own county are still dealing with the effects of Harvey.
You and M. Li smell lovely today. 🙂
Glad you mentioned skipping Apres la Mousson as I have been feeling odd about wearing Apres l’Ondee. It’s good to know I’m not the only one.
Lovely. I might put some on now.
Surely rabbit rabbit rabbits like to nibble on green green greens?
So SOTD is Miller et Bertaux Green Green Green… and Green.
It’s supposed to hit 105 here today. Where’s my fainting couch…?
Clever!
love that nibbling rabbit!
It is already so hot this morning. I went out at 7:30 to do all my errands and outside activities for the day.
Oh my! And I’m in long sleeves, which is very strange for 9/1 here.
Hello NST! I’ve missed you while I’ve been super busy with work and other things.
Right now I’m in L’Occitane Lavande, but once that wears off, I’ll go with my furriest, most rabbity fragrance: Kiehl’s Original Musk.
This SOTD is dedicated to the book Watership Down by Richard Adams.
hurray for Watership Down!
Rabbit underground, rabbit safe and sound.
Fabulous book and you smell soft and fuzzy????
Rabbits play an important part in my childhood reading memories. First there is Miffy (or Nijntje), one of my fav childrens book characters (when i was a toddler…miffy books are really basic and made for very small children). And then there is Watership down. My mother recommended me the book, it made quite an impression.
Yay. I need to reread that.
Wearing one tiny spritz of Sahara Noir early this morning before yoga, and then it’ll be Carrot Blossom & Fennel for the challenge, then once that wears off, maybe some Santal Blush this evening.
I need to get back to a Tom Ford counter. I smelled so much when I was in Vegas this year (I bought Noir de Noir). I started to buy Santal Blush. Sephora doesn’t have many of the Private Blends.
After my shower it will be Feminite du Bois–I pull the original out every fall since I thrifted/found it at the beginning of my trip down the rabbit hole.
So it has luck and rabbits and fall all wrapped up in it.
We will be twins! It really is a great scent for the early days of fall.
You smell great, and have a knack for finding great things!
Wearing “L’Heure Bleue Ultra-light” (Esprit d’Oscar) for its fluffy bunny-fur effect.
ha! that’s perfect.
It would be fun to compare Esprit d’Oscar, Oscar, and L’HB.
Good stuff! I particularly love it in fall.
First time I have actually got my act together in time for Friday project, and I’m wearing Rouge Bunny Rouge Tundra. Rather like it, even if it doesn’t seem to develop much. Hoping I can have two bunny nibbles for this (the second one for the arctic hares that live on the tundra, and are sort of like bunnies).
I don’t know why I did not think of Rouge Bunny Rouge today!
I’m wearing Beige, because I’ve seen a lot of cute beige rabbits. And because I consider it a lucky scent, and my husband is giving his tenure talk today so I want to send him all the lucky vibes I can.
Sadly, I totally forgot to say “rabbit, rabbit, rabbit”. I am terrible at that superstition.
Beige is an excellent choice for today.
I forgot to say 3 rabbits this morning, too. Let’s say them now, I won’t tell if you won’t. 😉
Good luck!
I am wearing Dryad, this smells like a place where bunnies roam. 🙂
Like a quiet sunset in the movie Watership down.
I bought a full bottle today…my sample was gone and I missed it a lot, it is such a cosy scent, and it is perfect for autumn!
I also tried Gabrielle, today.
It is a nice and pretty but boring scent. It has no heart, no soul, no guts, no balls, no tits, et cetera and certainly no glory.
Oh and the bottle is flimsy and does not ‘feel’ like a Chanel.
And all this after the whole Exclusifs reboot….probably no more Chanel scents for me.
Dryad is really lovely.
Yes it is.
It was not love at first sniff, but I guess i was concentrating too hard on ‘getting’ the notes and development, trying to ‘understand’ it, and that does not always work, right?
When I started ‘just wearing’ it, i fell in love. 🙂
So, sample drained and I really missed it. Also needed something suitable for office wear. So 1+1=new bottle. 😉
Laughing out loud !
It was that bad?
Did it remind you of Coco Md, like in Angela’s review?
Well, it is not bad. It is just uninteresting. Not worthy of a brand with a perfume catalogue like that (Same could be said of Chance of course).
It has a Coco Mdmsl vibe yes. But I think Coco Mdmsl is way more interesting (i am a bit biased, someone special to me wears Mdmsl and it smells awesome on her).
..to be more specific. Coco Mdmsl has a nice base where stuff ‘happens’, a bit of depth, warmth. Green and sweet.
To me Gabrielle is a generic pretty fresh floral, nothing more.
Great find! I thought of Watership Down but couldn’t find a fitting scent. More reason to try Dryad.
Ha! Kind of like Gabrielle, herself? I’m not her biggest fan ????
Ha! Me neither.
Me neither.
LOL! You are on a roll today! 🙂 And I feel the same about Chanel frags these days.
And Robin, the rabbit picture is adorable!!! Cute animals always makr my day. 🙂
Good!
Rabbit rabbit rabbit!
I’m in Ambe de merveilles today. Not very carrot-y, but the juice is a bit golden.
You smell great!
Definitely going the easy route this morning, and wearing I Love Les Carrottes. I am training myself to approach my day with less of a need to complicate life ( I tend to create much of my own stress). Sending all of us less stress, and more luck!
I’ll drink to that!
I’ll munch a carrot to that!
Hey twin!
My SOTD is Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca because I’m sure that a bunny would be very happy frolicking about in a meadow that smelled like mint and other herb-y things Tonight I will switch to Rouge Bunny Rouge Embers. Does anyone know who sells Rouge Bunny Rouge scents in North America?
I think Twisted Lily carries them-they used to, anyway.
Yes! They are even on sale!
Awesome!
You can also buy direct from RBR’s website.
No, they won’t send to Canada.
beautyhabit also carries them.
They won’t ship to Canada either.
Bummer 🙁 But it looks like you may be in luck with Twisted Lily, that’s cool!
I’m in Eau de Celeri today, thinking rabbits must like celery, no?
Glad of the theme today, as it reminded me of this one which I really do like. Green and salty and generally very refreshing & lovely.
I am so intrigued by the thought of this one.
Oooh I bet this is great
Wearing Silhouette from Rouge Bunny Rouge which is a lovely autumn scent
Perfect!
A sweet friend passed along her bottle of Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere to me this week and so that’s what I’m wearing today. I’ve never been a No. 5 fan but this is really different! Wonderful citrusy opening and much softer overall. Happy to add this to my collection.
Happy Friday!
What a nice friend you have!
Lucky you!
Love your new gravatar photo
Thank you! It’s a nice change.
I love Eau Premiere and L’Eau also but am not generally a fan of the original. You smell good!
I’m really surprised at how much I like this one!
I completely forgot about Rabbit, Rabbit but sprayed on some MFK’s Oud Satin Mood as I was running late and grabbed it before I rushed out of my place to get to work (I’m late, I’m late for a very important date”) My apologies to the White Rabbit of “Alice in Wonderland”. I can relate to him every morning!
Ha! Not every morning, but often!
Finally remembered to say rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! And I could really use the luck this month. SOTD is Fleurs de Sel. Don’t know if rabbits would approve, but I do.
Wishing the best of luck to you!
I’m in Gypsy Water, but via kabuki perfume–the brush on powder dispenser. I am underwhelmed, but I can’t tell if it is the delivery system or the fragrance. I get wafts of sweet slightly incense-y powder, and it fades to faintest of faintest skin scents in about a New York minute. Akin to, wait for it, the tickle of rabbits’ whiskers!
Anyone else tried the Byredo kabuki technology?
I tried it at the store, and it was extremely faint. it’s a fun idea, but I don’t think the powder is concentrated enough.
Very good to know, thank you both!
Wearing my summer go-to, Guerlain’s Pamplelune. It’s the perfect hot weather spritz for me, and since L.A. is on our 4th day of 105+ (and September is our hottest month), I’ll be wearing Pamplelune for the forseeable future.
I have to give this Aqua Allegoria a little loving shout-out. Many people find it hard to wear, off-putting, thin, fleeting, insert your criticism here. Yet I find it amazing. It is invigorating on a hot day, like a good cologne, yet it is very nuanced, with distinctive and beautiful development. It lasts all day on me and is the single biggest compliment getter I own. And it is a bargain. This hot summer has very happily been all about Pamplelune (and Terracotta when the sun goes down). Looking forward to another six weeks together.
Oh I like that one. You smell fabulous 🙂
Thanks!
Robin you smell wonderful. I am in Ostara, because Easter, because Easter Bunny. And because it has such a lovely soft furry drydown.
I hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel for those suffering from Harvey.
Scent twins!! My mind also went right to “Easter Bunny”
I agree totally about Harvey 🙁
Same idea, different conclusion: rabbit -> Easter -> lilies -> DK Gold.
Nice logic, I like!
SOTD Suleko Djelem. Rabbit connection: I think it was kpaint who said it smelled like a blackberry bush in summer. The last bunny I saw was beneath my MIL’s bluberry bush. The herbal, warm green of this scent is mingled with a powdey iris-y vanilla which is soft, warm, and fuzzy. The official note list doesn’t really match what I smell, so am I imagining things (like Harvey, the invisible rabbit)?!
You smell lovely. I still have a little bit of the sample you sent to me. My yard is loaded with rabbits this year because the hubs seeded our lawn with clover in the spring.
Thank you! I really enjoy this one. Wish we had bunnies.
I’d planned to wear Atelier Trefle Pur for the clover note this week (but didn’t.)
That was me, and I’d totally forgotten about that association! I’ll have to wear it before summer ends – I was just recently thinking about blackberry scents.
Me too (thinking about blackberry scents) – just bought some at the Kirkland Friday Market!
I thought so. Thanks for the inspiration!
I intended to put on something related to a little song I learned in a class with my kids “Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit, your ear’s mighty long, Yes my friend, it was put on wrong. Every little soul must shine, shine shine. Every little soul must shine.” Instead, I decided to be gluttonous with my Cristalle – I’m a walking Cristalle bomb! And loving it!
I wore Cristalle yesterday. Trying to get in a few more wears during warm weather. You smell lovely.
Thank you!
That’s the best way to wear Cristalle 🙂
So today is my birthday and I decided to take the day off and relax at home and do chores. No SOTD the day yet. I plan to spritz on some Chergui later on after I shower. I decided it works for today’s theme because it reminds me of carrot cake which ties together rabbits and birthday cake. Happy Friday/Saturday all!
Happy birthday to you! Enjoy your day!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday Petunia. Many, many more for you to celebrate. Enjoy!
Happy birthday, Petunia!
happy birthday! and mmmmm to carrot cake. 🙂
Happy birthday and happy year
Happy birthday! And you smell great to boot!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday dear Petunia! I hope there’s some carrot cake in your immediate future. Good for you for taking your bday off.
Happy birthday!
Hmm, carrot cake – I can see that. Happy birthday! Enjoy your day and keep the chores list short!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Thats is a very good present: a day off and relaxing. Enjoy!
Lovely! Have a fantastic birthday.
Happy Birthday! Carrot cake, yum….
Thanks so much everyone! NSTRs are the BEST!!
Happy Birthday, Petunia! Enjoy your day and your Chergui!
What a great day for a birthday! Happy day! ????
Happy Scented Birthday! I hope you got some carrot cake.
Happy birthday, fellow Virgo! Hope you are having a beautiful day.
Happy Birthday Petunia !
I have some on the back porch !!
Cheers !
Hope your day was wonderful!
Again testing Guerlain Encens Mythique d’Orient. Can’t say I like it. The opening saffron and rose is quite pretty, but the ambergris is too animalic. There are way too many times when I thought I smelled urine and wondered whether I had stepped on some…
Another one I never tried and had forgotten all about!
I’m in Colette today because it’s the only thing I have in my travel bag. Trying to come up with a clever way to tie it into the project for the week and coming up with nothing. I did remember to say “rabbit rabbit rabbit” upon waking, so at least there’s that. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! I was GOING to wear FM Superstitious, because of the rabbity superstition, but I finally got a long-awaited decant of SL 5 O’Clock au Gingembre, so I had to wear that. I’ve got my link, though! Ginger goes wonderfully with carrots, which are nommed enthusiastically by rabbits! I hope everyone in the US is looking forward to the long weekend 🙂
LOL — excellent!
We are under a heat advisory here for the next week, and smoke is already in the air from the wildfires in southern Oregon. I am ready to hunker down for the long weekend with cold drinks, vegetable snacks, and 3000 pages of Ken Follett, who has a third book out in the Kingsbridge trilogy. I thought I would re-read the first two before diving into number three. For Rabbit Day I am wearing the scent that smells like bunnies would both eat it and hide in it–the very green Chypre Mousse.
Gracious, good luck!
You smell great. Stay safe in the heat!
Omg, that is just crazy! A very good reason to eat ice cream, if you ask me! “I must keep my core temperature below 99F, I think I’ll eat some moose tracks!”
SotM = Hiris
Hiris does have a carroty smell, but I don’t notice it unless I sniff and then think, think, think like Pooh Bear, who says “oh bother” often and especially to Rabbit.
Later I will bathe in 4711, Eau de Guerlain, and Cologne du 68 as the temperature soars. It has been a mild summer. September is time to pay the piper.
Yum, you smell perfect.
thanks, Robin! Hiris always makes me smile.
Faboo! (To quote Wakko from the Animaniacs.)
ha! I think Hiris is faboo too.
Infusion d’Iris because Iris is slightly carroty hence…☺plus it makes me feel peaceful so hopefully a good omen for this month.
Thought there would be more IdI here today!
Gaynor’s in town and she’s brought her terrible Wellington weather with her…rain, rain, rain. Perfume hopping later but for now it’s High Country Tussock, home of the rabbits.
Have a great time!
There’s a bit of snow on the tops of the hills…bof
Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit! Last month I finally came up with a way to remember. Telling my daughter. She loves animals and has the memory of an elephant. She loved doing triple rabbit, but wants to change it to triple bunny! We even came up with a little bunny song that we sing every night. It’s been a very positive and happy thing for us to share. I asked her to pick out a good luck perfume for today, and she picked MJ Decadence, which I’m happily wearing.
That is so sweet!
I love this story!
Awww. Thanks for warming my heart, lillyjo ????
Lovely!
That is awesome! Bedtime songs is such a sweet way to end what can be such hard days.
What a sweet story! Thanks for sharing!
Adorable story.
Great story.. thank you!
Aww, that bunny picture is soooo cute!
My Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit scent for today is Dzing! In thinking about rabbits yesterday, it called to mind stereotypical rabbit-in-a-hat magic acts. Where might you find such an act? Maybe at a carnival or circus.
(My inspiration/mental reference was Presto, one of my favorite Pixar shorts. https://www.pixar.com/presto#presto-1)
Have yourselves a good weekend, you fabulous NSTers!
Clever!
I took pretty much the same tack as Hamamelis and wore Ostara, because Easter and bunnies.
Lots of green today because bunnies.
Balmain Vent Vert
And many hours later, Apoteker Tepe After The Flood.
The latter is so watery and wet, the name is perfect. Probably not to be worn in company, but I love wearing it and imagining myself wading across a pond in a lush green prairie.
SOTD was Bloom Perfumery “Aquaverd”.
Notes are blackcurrant leaves, fig tree leaves, frankincense, herbs, iris, musk, raindrops (!) and vetiver.
This is a much more convincing evocation of sheltering from rain under green trees than yesterday’s Huitieme Art “Ciel d’Airain”.
Matching rabbit for this perfume: well, it has to be Hazel from Watership Down, so I now deem yesterday’s perfume to belong to the Agile Rabbit of the Paris club of the same name (Au Lapin Agile) who will appreciate the country-feel-with-a-twist.
SOTE is BeauFort London “1805 Tonnerre”.
Top: lime, smoke and gunpowder;
Mid: blood, brandy and sea water;
Base: amber, balsam fir and cedar.
Supposed to evoke the scents of a naval battle of Lord Nelson’s era. When I first tried this it was borderline unwearable, so it’s another that has been reformulated for the better. On me it’s lime, smoke and incense with just a touch of booze. Love it. :^)
Matching rabbit for this perfume: Frank from Donnie Darko.
PSA: Hautelook is having a crazy sale on Ineke and YOSH perfumes. The Inekes are $9-$29.
Well, that sparked a strangely frenzied set of blind buys. Thanks for the tip! I ended up with Ineke’s Poet’s Jasmine (I’m going through a ton of jasmine perfumes as linen sprays since discovering it helps me sleep better), and Yosh’s Ginger Ciao!
Oh good. Then maybe I do not have too. Having trouble resisting blind buying a YOSH myself. I haven’t tried any by the house, but several look great and the price is ridiculous!
Interesting that they are doing another Yosh sale after the problems with the last one. A lot of stories of people being notified weeks later that their order had to be cancelled. Hope they fixed it.
Well, way to go – two blind-buy FBs on their way to me. I clearly have no self-control. 🙂
My brother and sister-in-law rescued three baby rabbits after a bad thunderstorm a few years ago and kept them out in their pool house. They fed them various greens and things but learned that their favourite by far was dandelion greens. Are there any perfumes that smell of dandelion?
There must be a perfume with that note. I love to sniff dandelions.
CB I Hate Perfume I Am A Dandelion!
Haven’t checked in for a few days, but have been participating! I wore Un Jardin sur le Toit (grasses and herbs) and DSH Kaleidoscope (which I see Robin wore as well) earlier this week. Today I’m in Gourmand Coquin for good luck, and because it’s soft and fuzzy. I was hoping to see some cute bunnies and other farm animals Monday at the state fair, but it’s supposed to be 100° so I’m guessing they’ll all be kept home.
Despite the predicted heat wave I’ve been kind of freaking out about winter coming (in October.) We lived in a small apartment with steam heat for 9 years before moving in April, where it was usually around 80° inside all winter. I always joked that that was the only reason I could tolerate winter here, but it turns out it’s no joke. We moved into a 100-year old drafty house with (totally ineffective) forced-air heat in April, and I was freezing up until high summer. I’ve kind of been stressing out about what it’ll be like in real winter ever since we moved. And really, why did we switch from steam heat to forced air? That was as ill-advised as moving from gas stovetops to electric ranges.
So I’ve been shopping around for items to make life more tolerable and was THRILLED to discover there’s such a thing as a heated mattress pad (!!) I really can’t say how excited I am to get one! For now, I’m off to get a real-deal serious down comforter (yay for Labor Day sales!) The one we have is barely warm enough for summer.
Happy Friday and all my best to those in the storm’s wake. What a nightmare.
I remember my old apartment in SF which was freezing, especially in summer when the fog came in. The electric blanket saved my life. Mattress pad would be even better.
I’ve been sleeping on a heated mattress pad for a long time. I love the “Preheat” setting so I never get into a cold bed. Even in summer I have it on low because I can’t sleep if I’m cold. Enjoy!
A good way to make the heat work better is to try and eliminate the drafts. You can seal the cracks by doors and windows, even a rolled up towel by the door helps. Also insulated blinds or drapes. If you can do it, you might want to check on insulating the attic.
Many times in the Florida winter, such as it is, I would use an electric blanket to avoid turning on the heat. I can’t sleep if I’m cold either, and it’s so comforting to get into a warm bed when you’re bone deep chilled.
I just snuggle under 3 layers of blankets. I would rather sleep when it is cold because it makes under the blankets seem more toasty!
Wow, I’ll have to catch up on comments later. This was a popular Friday project! I went the vegetables for rabbits route and am wearing Monsillage Eau de Celeri. I think rabbits eat celery? I’ve also gotta give a shout out to Jo Malone Basil & Neroli for being surprisingly long lasting. I could still smell it a bit this morning after using it as my scent last night.
Hi twin! We match both in scents and in thought process 🙂
I did look up rabbits/celery and they do like it and the videos are impossibly cute!
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! And that is as close as I think I can get to today’s community project. It’s a cool one here today for the first day of September. A little chilly even, this morning. SOTD = Tauer’s Le Maroc Pour Elle, from the sample stash. I wanted something opulent for today, and this certainly fits!
I think it fits. Rabbits are symbols of abundance, right? Plus, if you’re anything like me, your samples seem to multiply.
Rabbits in the woods near a river for me today in L’Ombre dans L’eau EdP for a wet saturday morning in spring.
You smell gorgeous. Rabbits should be so lucky.
Late to the party, as usual I’ve been running like a rabbit, rabbit, rabbit all day long. Wearing Tauer’s Reverie Au Jardin–can’t have a dream in the garden without a bunny!!!
Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit!
Late late late to the party.
SOTD = FM Superstitious
…and I am loving it. To me, it smells like an aldehylic soapier version of Le Labo Iris 39. This my 2nd wearing from a sample atomizer. I wonder why it looks like a regular 1 mL sample atomizer and you can’t see the juice, unlike the usual larger 3.5mL samples.
Oh, I hoped someone would wear it on Friday. I have not tried the perfume itself, but the name fits the theme so well.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! I went with “something to bring me good luck,” and am currently enveloped in a lovely cloud of Keiko Mecheri Datura Blanche. I got a partial bottle in a bit of luck (a swap that went really well; shoutout to Heather F if you’re out there), and I might never have even tried it otherwise. It’s a warm, sweet, not-quite-floral, not-quite-gourmand that really blooms in the heat, and it was 101F here today. (In cold weather, at least on me, it’s straight-up root beer, or the current version of Hypnotic Poison.) I’ve never smelled actual datura, so I can’t attest to the appropriateness of the name. The notes also list tuberose, and I can testify that it will probably not scare you off if, like me, you have mixed feelings about tuberose. DB got me an unsolicited compliment last week, which is always nice. If you’re in the US, have a great Labor Day weekend. For you international folks, just a great weekend.
