Hump Day! Plus, National Slinky Day and Toasted Marshmallow Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Le Labo Bergamote 22, which is keeping me cheerful despite annoying computer problems that may eat up my whole morning.
Reminder: 9/1 we're doing Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! We're all about rabbits today. Wear a fragrance that will bring you good luck for September, or wear a fragrance that reminds you of rabbits, or wear whatever you picked this morning while saying "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit" aloud. Or, refuse to participate in childish, superstitious practices — we'd like to know your scent of the day anyway.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Good morning, I left the house with no perfume on and am stopped at Peets for chai. I will have to look for samples in my desk drawer. That brings me to this- decant house STC is having a 20% flash sale. I thought I would get a few Chanel exclusive samples to try again. I plan on buying one to celebrate fall conferences being over in a few weeks. I cannot seem to find them there or on Perfumed Ct. Am I just bad at searching?
I think Chanel forced some of the decanters to remove their products…I’m sure someone else who knows more than me will chime in lager.
I went looking around STC for a bit of vintage Coco to torture myself with (do I still hate it as much as I used to?), before I remembered that they were ordered by Chanel to cease and desist selling Chanel products in a not-Chanel-sanctioned manner.
(Ebay to the rescue… though I really need to stop buying minis. 🙁 )
Yeah I caught that recently too. Bummer because I’d like a small amount of No. 5 L’Eau and it doesn’t come in a purse spray size 🙁
Go to Sephora and get a free spray sample. IF the SA fills it to the top you will probably get 3-4 ml.
Unfortunately Sephora does not selfie exclusives line ????
My very small local Sephora has all the no 5s and the flankers as well….I have seen L’Eau but yes, none of the exclusives.
There’s a very cute 25 mLs. So cute I bought it even though I already have the 50 mL bottle.
What is it you hate about Coco? Is it the overall scent, the strength or just some note that jars?
I’m looking at the STC flash sale because I’d like to give Ubar another go since I didn’t like it 10 years ago. Maybe I’ll like Ubar 10 years later. About Chanel and STC and TPC, they made STC and TPC cease selling decants of their product. It’s a pity because I’m curious about the EDP version of no 22.
thanks! is there a coupon code? I have ordered from STC, but I don’t seem to get their emails, and I don’t see any info on the website about the flash sale…
FLASH830
Thanks Elizabeth!
I believe that you can sign up for their mailing list when you order.
SOTD is Acqua di Parma Mirto di Panarea. Myrtle is Aphrodite’s sacred plant, and hare is her sacred animal. So this is my very loose interpretation of this week’s ‘bunny’ theme.
The link below shows Piero de Cosimo’s Venus, Mars and Cupid (1505). With a cute rabbit (and some nudity).
https://www.apollo-magazine.com/content/uploads/2014/04/800px-1505_Piero_di_Cosimo_Venus_Mars_and_Cupid_anagoria.jpg
Oh, very nicely done!
Great interpretation of the theme–so creative!!
Wow, wonderful interpretation!
Love your interpretation!
Thanks, everyone. I thought my interpretation was rather a stretch, so I am even more pleased that you liked it. 🙂
Not a stretch at all, Aphrodite and perfume go together perfectly!
Replica’s Soul of the Forest…nothing green about this one..it’s a cumin bomb on my skin (although cumin may not even be in it!)…
You had me at cumin! Adding to test list!
But meanwhile there is no cumin in it…looked up the notes on fragrantica…however, the first commenter said it smelled like body odor so I guess my wonky nose wasn’t that far off….give it a try next time you are in a Sephora which is where I got my sample from.
I saw that review also, I will pop in and check it out. I haven’t found a Replica that bowled me over yet.
I like Jazz Club (tobacco) and By the Fireplace (smoky) but not enough for full bottles.
SOTD AP Iris Celadon. I can’t wait to wear this in cold weather.
Association with rabbit.. hmm it has patchouli.. which is a green shrub.. and rabbits eat greens.. hahaha.
And, done!
Slinky Day! Wish I were slinkier. Ah well. SOTD is PG Cuir d’Iris.
I could use a little bit more slink myself 😉
I’m wearing Sensuous Noir, which I periodically forget exists, then remember and fall in love all over again.
I always forget this one too, because the bottle makes me think I need to save it for date night!
I just read your fantastic piece on Anne of Green Gables…
http://lithub.com/too-smart-or-too-pretty-the-anne-of-green-gables-paradox/
An aside, really, but curious if you’ve seen the newer Anne With An E series? I still remember being a little shocked by how pretty Anne was in the original series, and not at all like I knew her from the books. Looks like the new actress is less pretty, but from what I’ve read they’ve changed the story in ways that might bother me more than the beauty issue.
Continuing on with my garden theme I’m wearing Demeter’s Wet Garden, which is appropriate here in Texas. I love the hyacinth in this one.
I think all Demeter fragrances also fit this week’s NST theme. Both Demeter (the goddess) and rabbits are strongly associated with fertility. 🙂
Yum! I love Wet Garden too 🙂
SOTD: LAP Dzongkha. One of the rare cases when I wear it outside during the day. I love it but I normally only wear it at night in my house. Somehow I have the impression that many people find it disgusting or weird, so I only wear it at home.
Well I think you smell great!
Me too!
Me 3. Last time I wore it to work, three of my colleagues commented on how good it smelled, so I don’t think you need to hide it away…
Thank you! So far no one commented on my fragrance, but then I’ve never been commented on, except once when I was wearing Rive Gauche!
what did they say?
He asked me what that was and said it was what he’d been searching for!
oh wonderful!
I don’t know about disgusting, but definitely weird. I also save my weird, explicit, loud, etc., perfumes for private contemplation. But every now and then I throw caution to the winds and head to the grocery in a protective patchouli forcefield of PG Coze, or wear a grand old lady perfume among young people. 😉
Commando so far, but I’m thinking about trying to find my sample of AG Encens Flamboyant, for some reason. Most likely I will toss this idea aside quickly, since finding a particular sample in my “piles o’vials” is a time consuming endeavor.
Robin, sending you empathy on the computer front. My hard drive seems to be slowly and intermittently fritzing, which makes for some intense frustration. Trying to get it to limp along, while I contemplate a cost/benefit analysis of me replacing the hard drive or me buying a new desktop pc.
Oh, so sorry! For once my problems do not appear to be hardware.
How old is your pc? I always figure if it’s 4 years or more, I’m going to buy a new one rather than pay to fix. Last time I replaced my desktop it was so much better I was sorry how long I’d kept the old one. But it’s always hard to decide, not least because it’s such a pain to get everything set up the way you like it again.
Exactly right – the PC is about 5 years old, thus the contemplation of purchasing anew. Replacing the hard drive is inexpensive and relatively easy, but there’s that never ending zoom toward faster, sleeker, better-performing machines that definitely calls to me.
And, I always figure, something else is just about to go kaput…
I think I’ll wear Narciso today for the white bottle, thus association to white rabbit. And that’s about all I’ve got, folks! This week’s theme is hard but I’m enjoying thinking about it and reading everyone’s choices!
Hey, color — that works!
🙂
I almost went with that today. You smell great!
Thanks lillyjo!
Maybe something carrot-y iris-y?
oh good idea! if I had I love les carottes I would wear it
Great idea! I do have some iris in my collection, but mostly with sweet and powdery interpretations, not so much carrot-y. Maybe something in the samples, though! I’ll have to take a look.
Since today’s activities include a car trip with coworkers, I’ve opted for the light and hopefully inoffensive Earl Grey & Cucumber from Jo Malone.
Wearing the bright and happy Desert Rose by Dame perfumes today.
Rose, carnation, and citrus.
I needed a happy scent today, and cheerfully bailed on the community project.
You smell great! I need to pull my sample of that one. I remember smelling a lot of geranium, which I enjoyed but thought I’d rather smell on someone else. I wonder if I’ll think differently of it now.
I’ve got no bunnies today unless you want to count T-Rex’s huge ears. Wearing the vestiges of Queen from yesterday evening, but after a shower will give Amythest by E&J a whirl. I stopped at Sephora yesterday and got samples of that one any French Grey. Nice, but nothing new.
Happy humpday!
SOTD Eau de Métal. Apparently 1951 and 2011 were years of the Metal Rabbit in the Chinese Zodiac.
Who knew?
Didn’t get a chance to post yesterday but I wore SDV yesterday. This morning I am sitting in Lyric and I have been wearing the snot out of it. Life is too short to neglect this one. After my shower, I am going to be wearing Ingrid. I am still kicking myself for not getting a backup bottle of this one.
Wearing my sample of Le Labo Baie Rose. I liked it in the store enough to buy the sample but now I’m thinking it smells familiar and done already. Deep, but fresh, red rose with frankincense, maybe a hint of spice, and something woody. Still nice but don’t need more.
Very very pretty and I think you are right- fresh spiced roses are all over in a variety of price points. I like my Black Jade – and it’s a teensy bit more affordable.
I stilk have a sample of Black Jade somewhere. I should try a side-by-side. From memory, I’d think BJ lighter and pinker and this deeper and redder.
I am gonna agree with this assessment- BJ is sheer and very fresh and it ‘feels’ pink.
I really enjoy this one. It takes me back to my grandmother’s house when I was a kid. I know it’s odd, but this scent is exactly what her basement smelled like, (she did always have potpourri out). I don’t own it either, but may purchase a bottle when I’m back home in Chicago one of these days, just for nostalgia’s sake.
Nice association and she has a good smelling basement! Interesting because I do get a dank basementy smell from frankincense which I detect in here. I would love this as a candle actually.
Slinky and toasted marshmallow day!? Two things that never stop being fun. I’m in Enchanted Forest, the morning’s are starting to cool off so I could finally wear it comfortably. I smelled good chasing the school bus that blew past us this morning, and had me running after it waving and screaming for it to come back. Apparently they had the wrong address, but hey at least the neighbors got some morning entertainment with their coffee.
This reminds me of the time that I was putting my mom on the train, and the conductors neglected to make a last call. I ended up being dropped off at one of those spooky train kiosks in the middle of nowhere, waiting for an – ultimately – very expensive taxi.
How do you like Enchanted Forest? I am drawn to the bottle and the name, but worry that it might be a little too fruity.
Oh my goodness, yeah those dang train kioks are very sooky, doesn’t help they are always in spooky, mystery movies, and crime dramas.
I love the EF, it is my fave black currant scent, I don’t find it too fruity, but that’s relative everyone is different as to what is too fruity (Escada’s are too much fruit for me). It has red wine in it, and I think that adds a warm rosy note, like mulled wine. EF has lots of fresh evergreen notes. It does remind me of going to the local garden center during the holiday season, dried fruits, spices, and lots of fresh evergreen trees and wreaths.
I do love the name and bottle too, and I will probably need a good perfume for bus chasing starting next week, so yes, interested to hear any further details about how you like EF 🙂
At least we are leaving a fragrant trail behind us as we run!
Wearing my last drops of Zoologist Panda. I enjoyed my decant immensely this summer to the point that it even went to my fb shooping list. The original was all about green. Love it! The new 2017 reformulation seems to be more floral and fruity. I have not try it yet and unless a sample drops in my hands I am not eager enough to look for it.
My bottle of Ines de la Fressange (the Becker version) goes back into out-of-season storage in the bedside cabinet on 9/1, so I’m wearing it today. (Maybe tomorrow too.) Gosh, I do love this: hint of aldehydes, peach, rose, carnation, jasmine, sandalwood, benzoin. Pretty and unapologetic for it.
But why do you have to put it away? IF you love it can’t it be a year rounder?
Oh, I suppose I could, but it loses much of its charm in cooler weather. I do love rotating my perfumes — not that I rotate ALL of them, because there are some I keep out all year round — but it’s like the right wine pairing for the meal, some scents just go with certain weathers. This one’s a summer fragrance.
Got ya! That makes sense….aside from Safari which fragrances make the year round cut?
It sounds so lovely.
Needed spine stiffening today ( still dealing with an awful person) fortunately I have No. 19 to help me along. Thanks to a wonderful NST friend. The second this issue is rectified, I will be ordering a bottle.
Good luck – I hope it is resolved quickly.
Thank you!
No. 19 is my Invisible Armor fragrance. Hang in there!
You know I never quite believed in the invisible armor concept until I tried it for myself. It really does help!
No. 19 is perfect. You smell great.
Thanks!
You do smell marvelous, stay strong!
Thank you. I’m trying.
You are strong and you really deserve a full bottle of No.19 after everything gets resolved!
Thank you. After this, I might even deserve the shower gel!
And the body lotion….. 😉
I am in April Aromatics Rosenlust. One of the few perfumes that makes my husband give me The Look. It is a gorgeous rose, and I ordered the 15 ml spray. Tanja added a sample of her new perfume Pink Wood, and I am smitten. It is in the Lyric vein but with that (to my nose) smoothness and for lack of a better word, politeness, which comes with natural perfumes.
Hoping Harvey affected ones are hanging in there.
My husband gives me The Look on scents I wear as well but pretty sure it’s a different look than the one you’re talking about.
Yup! Same here!
haha!
Mmm…you may try Rosenlust and see if it produces The Look I received (that is, if you would want that Look 😉 )
Okay, that made me giggle out loud.
Toasted marshmallow day! Woo-hoo! I may have to go and buy a s’mores cookie at Insomnia Cookies today!
SOTD: Acqua di Parma Iris Noble EDT
Why oh why is there not an Insomnia Cookies near me? I’m sure I need that store.
I’m wearing Hiris today – I realized that I would be in an auditorium full of coworkers first thing this morning, and so decided not to wear the Dzing! I was reaching for. (I love the topnotes but my husband does not like the opening at all, so I always worry that the people around me might hate it. ) So I fit into the rabbit theme because of that carroty note in Hiris.
Hope everyone in Houston is doing as well as possible. Thinking of you all.
Plus, you smell great.
Heliotropia again today.
Oh. So how is that- sounds lovely?
So, I really enjoy it. I find that it’s one I don’t have to think about it, it’s effortless. Which can be nice when you’ve got other things on your mind. That said, based upon its merits, I don’t think it’s really anything SPECIAL. (but if you like it, it’s something special, right?) It’s sweet, creamy, and slightly powdery to me, (but not the sweetness of by Kilian Love or any of the loukhoum perfumes (Keiko Mecheri or Serge Lutens) and feels office friendly enough. My guess is if you like L’eau d’Hiver, you might like this.
Okay, so that is deep= I do like L’eau d’Hiver. A must try.
A little Dame Sky Father today. Summer-wearable spices.
Triple strength coffee.
Extra long workout.
There are always lots o’ bunnies in my backyard, just say a beautiful caramel-colored one.
Ombre Rose.
It was a coin flip between OR and YSL pour homme yesterday.
Powdery.
Sibling of No 22.
Every road has construction work being done.
EVERY one.
Not complainin’, just explainin’.
LOLOLOL
😉
Carpe Diem.
Peace.
We have a banner crop of bunnies this year too.
I hopped on the 20% sale at STC and ordered three Amouage decants (continuing my survey), including Bracken. My sample didn’t impress me, but I wanted to love it so am trying a spray.
Curses on Chanel for their niggardly policy. I have no love for them in my heart.
I’m wearing PHLUR’s Olmsted & Vaux and am disappointed that it has disappeared after three hours on me. Y
Too bad about the Olmsted…while I have scent eating skin it seemed to last on me as I got numerous compliments every time I wore it.
Lucky you! I want new skin.
Twinsies regarding Chanel! Will never buy another Chanel product. Ever.☠️
Happy Wednesday.
1) I remember Katrina and we actually had refugees from Lousiana for a couple of years here in Portland during recovery and cleanup. I am thinking of you guys hit by Harvey, and of the flooding going on in India.
2) So! Today is the exact anniversary of me getting married to my house! It’s been a heck of a year, and i am deeply grateful for the privilege of being able to buy and live in Portland, a messy weird and beautiful city.
3) SOTD: I am trying Epi D’or by Lubin( from a sample from Fumerie). This is a lighter, more citrussy, more jasmine-y and plummy version of Marc Jacobs Decadence. Extremely pretty, pretty, pretty. A very modern way to wear a floral Oriental, and gives my Boucheron a run for the money.
I love a just-pretty.
Sometime you just want to smell and be pretty, delightful and happy. This is that fragrance. I could seriously consider a full bottle of this and place this next to my Black Jade.
Happy house anniversary! You smell great!
🙂 Thank you!
Wow! A year already?! Time flies and you sound like you smell great!
I know! The only thing is that I wish I had bought earlier. I ifeel very fortunate indeed!
Please try Epidor-I find it delightful.
Happy anniversary Ede and you smell great!
Thank you! I am so pleased and very fortunate indeed. and Epidor is a really lovely perfume.
Happy houseversary! Does the Epidor have any wheat / grass vibes? Curious about that scent.
Hey there! Thank you! I think I am going to get a bottle of something sparkling! 🙂
Yes, there is a sort of hay like, dried sweet grass vibe that blends beautifully with the woody drydown. It’s really pretty.
Nothing like bubbles to celebrate a cool house…must be great now the painting, roof trouble and side-back-yard-strip-bit is done.
Congratulations, and you smell fabulous! I really enjoyed Epidor, too and had a similar reaction — it made me feel pretty, oh so pretty…
Thank you! And yes, Epidor is pretty and almost joyous, I would say.
SotD Iris Nazarena, from a sample.
After almost four days of hot summer weather, the rain and clouds are back. I am really tired and its crazy busy at work. But then i see the images of the areas affected by Harvey…. And I am counting my blessings, my feet and my house are dry, oh and i smell nice, life is good. 🙂
Thank you, I will count my blessings right now too!
Hello all of you good-smelling folks! The movers are here today packing us up and they will be loading up in the morning so we will hit the road for New Mexico tomorrow. Crazy times. On top of all of that, I came down with a horrible summer cold this week. Today is the first day I’ve worn perfume in days. I’m in my Shalimar for strength.
Texas is on my heart and mind. My parents lived on Galveston Bay for years, so the Galveston and Houston area are near and dear to my heart.
I am taking a quick moving break and look forward to reading comments here today- always a bright spot in my day. Hugs to all.
Good luck with your move KellyC!
Good luck and safe trip to New Mexico!
Hope you move is smooth! You smell fab, of course????
Hugs back! Good luck!
Ugh, summer colds are the worse! I just got over the flu- ugh fevers in hot weather!
Shalimar will give you strength- your kind heart will give strength to others!
Safe travels and may Shalimar envelop you with the vibes of a strong goddess!
Have a good trip to your new home. See you on the flip side.
Best of luck with your move! Hopefully it is a safe and smooth one.
Best of luck with the move, and you smell amazing!
Yay, onwards & upwards!
How exciting! Safe travels…go West, young woman!
Rainy grey day here, getting over a cold, Epic hits the spot. Trying to work up enthusiasm for long drive to camping at music festival in Devon tomorrow, with hubby and 2 children.
Stay safe, dry and have fun!
Hope it is a fun trip!
SotM = Infusion d’Amande
I reach for my dwindling little decant of Amande whenever I’m not sure what to wear. So nice. I wore it last evening too.
Let’s be fabulously fragrant, NST, it’s our super power.
Such a great superpower! I’ve been eyeing and Infusion sample set. I love Iris but haven’t tried any of the others.
BUY IT. BUY THE SAMPLE KIT RIGHT MEOW.
*snort* ????
I love the mini set of six of Les Infusions. For me it was definitely worthwhile to acquire as I adore Infusion d’Iris, especially the EdT.
And there is hope that there may be tester bottles near you in your new location. My Nordstrom recently put out testers of at least 5 or 6 of Les Infusions, I think the only one missing was the rose.
Same here, missing the Rose!
Robin – I feel for your annoying computer problems, I was forced to switch over to Office360 recently and the process was supremely annoying.
Wearing SJP Covet today….apparently Sarah Jessica Parker is known for saying “rabbit rabbit” on the first of the month, yippee!
Ugh, don’t even get me started on Microsoft!
I should not complain. I tried once to explain to my son what life was like without computers but he didn’t even get it. We thought we wanted flying cars but having an iphone in your pocket turns out to be even more useful.
thanks for commiserating 🙂
That is so funny Robin, you are right!!
Hello everyone, this is the first of several days when I’ve been able to stop watching the news obsessively. My Houston friends were all overjoyed beyond measure to see some sun and blue sky late afternoon yesterday. It’s awful though that people in Port Arthur and Beaumont got hit so hard. I was happy that I could transmit some messages about translators needed (for Urdu, Farsi, and Vietnamese) at the shelters to some of my students–they are planning to go help out!
In perfume news, I’m wearing some Eau Claire des Merveilles from my mom’s collection (actually some I once gave her). It’s quite pleasant but wow it fades so fast. I remain a staunch friend of the Elixir from among the many variations on this fine fragrance.
I have no idea how to come up with a rabbit-themed choice, but I’ll keep pondering it!
Rabbit Beach (in Italy) has “wonderful clear water” ;P
Chevrefeuille for me today. Honeysuckle seems kind of woodland-ish, maybe something a rabbit nibble on? One of my summer favorites.
I’m wearing Santa Maria Novella Melograno today and drinking a cup of Darjeeling tea with a side of milk chocolate 🙂
I loaned my Melograno to a guy to try out and am really missing it!
I’m really going to have to break down and replace my laptop this year. I think I bought it in 2009. One reason I hesitate is I’m not sure I like the idea of that touch band replacing the top row of F keys on the new MacBook Pros. Does anyone have experience with that? (I don’t use a lot of apps, so having app specific buttons isn’t a draw for me.)
My week of lily and orchid has come to nothing…total failure to add to my failed week of iris. There is so little available to smell in the perfume dept. Never mind…I’m off to the big smoke next week. Amarige Girl is coming to stay tonight so I’ll have to wear Mr Muscle Power Cleaner to compete. Epice Marine today….it is wonderful.
Good morning, all. I have no idea what a slinky is, but I bet it’s delicious. And now I’ve said that, I also bet I’ll find out it’s a car part or a type of door mat or something you wear on your head….yesterday was one of the most comprehensively awful days of my working life. Today I am fighting back:outwardly, I’m in my red boots (for kicking, if I have tot, red lipstick to give people pause (welll, so I fondly imagine),and inwardly, Black Cashmere for my personal pleasure and comfort. I like the idea that perfumevis our super power. Cool thought, Tiffani. Thank you. I’m certainly depending on a warmly delicious smell to get me through today.
Be well, everyone.
A slinky is a toy, the thing shown in the illustration for this post, but you have to see it in motion to understand how wonderful it is. There must be videos on YouTube, but you owe it to yourself to find one to play with.
A toy! I didn’t even consider that. I must admit I thought the photo was of some particularly elegant and arcane piece of plumbing.
Sounds as though I owe it to myself to find a slinky, but maybe, I owe it even more to the kittens. Maybe Eric would suit one in pink…
Nah, they do come in pink plastic but the best ones are the old fashioned metal ones. They will “walk” down stairs if you balance them on the edge – the kittens would be very impressed.
Oh yes, Waterdragon- your furry friends would go crazy for a slinky!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zdw3rabl_kk
I am taking a walk down memory lane…although I was never this talented with my slinky as a kid 🙂
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APLV6I0OlfU
this would have been more my speed/talent and I had the same type of metal slinky
It is delicious! !!
Your post made me smile.
🙂
I would put my slinky at the top of the stairs and watch descend over and over and over and over and over……….
again.
LOL
Loved the sound too.
Are they still made of metal?
I’m thinking, no.
Yep, they still do–original, jr., giant, etc.!
https://www.alexbrands.com/pa_brand/slinky/
I’ve seen the Slinky Jrs. especially around in places like Target’s dollar area. (I may even own several.????)
Sorry to hear yesterday was awful. I really like your way of fighting back! I hope it works and today is infinitely better.
Red boots and lippie plus the perfect perfume sound super-power-ful to me. Hope you kicked Wednesday to the curb. 🙂
Get on a plane to Dunedin – Gaynor will be here and we can go sniffing (Ba ha ha ha…all the pink pepper, raspberry, musk, generic wood combos your heart desires in one place).
Yessss!!! Go red boots! I’ve got Nancy Sinatra in my head now 🙂
Here’s an earworm from back in the day…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vil0dIUMrPo
SOTD Clive Christian No. 1 because.
you smell great
Thank you! I’m always slightly embarrassed when I wear Clive Christian.
My SOTD is Arquiste Namban.
That should read Arquiste Nanban.
Slinkys and toasted marshmallows! Two of the best things in the world. I will take advantage of the opportunity to pull out my Slinky and play like a kid! I’ll have to go old-school low-tech and make some ‘stairs’ out of a pile of books…
SOTD is Pacifica Malibu Lemon Blossom.
Such good fun.
Happy Wednesday All! Haven’t been able to post for a while due to everything that has been happening in Houston lately. It’s been a rough couple of days down here for myself and fellow Houstonians. Today is the first day in almost a week that we’ve seen sunshine and no rain. Finally trying to get back to some sense of normalcy. This site is definitely a nice part of my normalcy. Wasn’t aware of the theme for this week, so I just sprayed some JM Nutmeg & Ginger after a nice hot shower. Hope all is well with everyone.
Glad to see you checking in! Is your home/neighborhood okay?
Sweetgrass, I was wondering about you. Neghborhood and street flooded, but luckily none got in the house. This afternoon was the first time I got out of the house since Thursday. Didn’t get very far, though because everything is still shut down. Hope all is well on your end. Any damage?
Hope life gets easier over the next week.
Everyday gets a little better. Thanks 🙂
Glad you are ok!
Thanks Robin 🙂
I came in earlier this morning and apparently forgot to post. I’m wearing Tom Ford Plum Japonais today. No connection to rabbits.
Finally got some nice weather!
I’m wearing Hindu Kush today. Are there rabbits in India? I have no idea. If there are, then my fragrance is familiar to them. If not, I think I smell good anyway. Tonight is a perfume swap at Fumerie so I’m getting rid of a few things.
Have fun!
Sounds fun! Wish I had a Fumerie around me. Tried Lui today. My first thought was “Funky Monkeys!” My second thought was “Oh, this reminds me of Cuir Mauresque! I like it.” Also, I’m in the process of winnowing a few bottles myself.
I thought Lui smelled like Cuir Mauresque X Salome, myself. A bottle would last several lifetimes.
Wearing Eau des Merveilles because the bottle is orange and so are carrots. Rabbits eat carrots, so you see where I am going with this. Pretty thin justification but it’s all I’ve got. Happy Wednesday!
I went with color, too, so I think it’s a perfectly valid justification!
oh, yes, that’s an excellent line of reasoning, particularly since it leads to Eau des Merveilles. I shall join you in wearing it this evening. 🙂
SOTD – Au Pays de la fleur d’oranger (this is a mouthful!!) Rose Irisse. I get a strong similarity to vintage No 19. Me like it.
Finally got to spritz something with patchouli in it for today! SOTD = Chanel’s Les Exclusifs Coromandel EdT, from the sample stash and a very generous NSTer. I do smell chocolate in this after a while in the heart notes, but it is definitely not sweet chocolate. Semi-sweet maybe? I’m enjoying this civilized take on patch.
I’m also happy to hear that some folks down in TX are finally seeing the sun today. I just can’t imagine what that has been like.
SOTD was Ineke “Evening Edged In Gold”.
Top: plum and osmanthus;
Mid: angel’s trumpet, saffron and cinnamon;
Base: Midnight Candy (zaluzianskya capensis), woody notes and leather.
Someone here (I can’t remember who) was looking for a fruity floral that wasn’t generic drugstore pap. Try this. It’s a very nice scent with a lovely drydown. It’s a bit powdery and comforting on me, which you might think a good thing but I’ve kind of got those bases covered already.
Matching rabbit for this perfume: Flopsy.
that is my favorite Ineke…and the bottle is stunning…..
SOTD: Bandit EdP for a crisp Thursday morning. Rabbits are often protrayed as thieves and tricksters in stories, Brer Rabbit, Peter Rabbit, El-ahrairah, so I figure Bandit is a good fit 😉

Very smart! Soon be spring
Started the day with Chinatown. Finishing with a spritz of Quelques Fleurs and a dab of the ’50s version. Both are very nice. I get more orange in the vintage – both are nice.
How very very nice you smell today. I like old school florals like Quelques Fleurs.
Google rounds up perfume related news for me to read. Today there was a blurb about Princess Diana spilling Quelques Fleurs on her wedding dress, then holding a bit of the skirt in her hand to try to camouflage the stain while walking up the aisle. I can’t imagine anyone noticed it, though I hope someone told her she smelled beautiful.

You’re so sweet thank you ???? The earlier post of Quelques Fleurs inspired me to wear it this evening – I bet Princess Diana smelled so beautiful. What a great story. I remember waking up early to watch the wedding. What an event!
I also woke up early to watch it. It was so magical at the time.
It was a dream!
I loved reading that story too, I imagine more passers by might actually have been able to smell her with the spilt perfume, a gift for the people, but not for the prince!

Cuddly scent, perfect for a coolish day. Fall is coming and I am loving it!
Work had been hellacious and it is not going to let up for a while.

On the up side, you smell wonderful.!
Uggghhhh! I have no words. Who does this past the age of, I don’t know, six?!?!
Eww!
SOTE is a splash of vintage Miss Dior on my forearms. Oh my, this is crazy good. It’s reminding me a bit of Shalimar extrait every once in a while.
I needed a bit of happiness to offset all the horrible things that are going on which we have no control over. Houston, send us some of your rain, we will gladly take it.
