Hump Day! Plus, Sponge Cake Day and International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm out of town again, to attend my son's freshman convocation. I am wearing Hermès Le Jardin de Monsieur Li.
Reminder: on 8/25 we're doing Back to school... wear a fragrance that fits the theme, for whatever reason.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
On a base of my homemade vanilla bean body oil Olmsted & Vaux. The body oil amps up the creaminess of the fragrance.
wore it last night to yoga and I was sweating. My teacher hugged me at the end of class and told me I smell good.
Looking for reviews on this fragrance and stumbled upon this one which I enjoyed watching-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qVAOM_m9uE
I think Jada also did a mini review on her youtube channel…will have to look for that one.
Robin, hope you are enjoying your son’s freshman convocation and happy bday to him 🙂
Thank you so much!
I guess I am going to have to try the Phlur line? I was enjoying it as another brand I could ignore 🙂
Then ignore it by all means!!!! I know there is too much out there to be trying everything 🙂 However, I bet you if you contacted them they would probably send you samples gratis 🙂
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWo2od5iebo
it is about 8 minutes into her review….Jada, if you are reading you get an enabler pin from me 🙂
Funny, but on my skin Moab is very sweet and cinnamon-y….not getting dry at all….always amazes me how differently we all wear our perfume!
Another enabler pin! I’m going to try that one eventually!
🙂
This is one of my favorite channels to watch for perfume.
I discovered this channel while trying to find info on the Phlur line.
He has an incredible perfume collection too 🙂
Hello from Holland,
Visiting Erbolario store tomorrow, any perfumes I should try? Anyone familiar with the line and has a suggestion
Hi lovestosmellgood!!! Was wondering about you and how you are enjoying your vacation! STay safe and be well 🙂
Shoot, they used to have a store near me and now I can’t remember what I liked in terms of scent. But great soaps and body products. And Meharees is supposed to be a dupe for Musc Ravageur.
*ears perk up*
Dolcelisir is similar to Ambre Narguile and Ibisco has a citrus/powder vibe that reminds a bit of Shalimar. Enjoy your vacay and shopping!!
I bought a poppy scent from there about five years ago that I adore. “Papaverio” or something like that. It is unlike anything else I own. Floral, but with a richness and mild spice that is perfect for fall. If they still make it, do try it.
I’ll second Meharees and I’m curious about the Iris.
Thank you!
Oh, my! Vacation time for you! Holland sounds wonderful. And so glad you’re getting some perfume shopping in too.
Wearing Diptyque Philosykos. This has been my biggest discovery and love this season so far. The best fig perfume I have ever worn. L’Artisan Premier Figuier Extreme is also good, but it disappears very fast.
Another busy day, but beautiful in the Big Apple.
YUM.
🙂
You smell fabulous! It is a beautiful day in the NE/mid atlantic, you can feel fall in the air.
Thank you! Fall is just around the corner! Glad you are also having a gorgeous day there!
you smell great!
Thanks to you Elizabeth!
Smelling beautiful!
Thank you!
You smell lovely! Philosykos is one of my favs 🙂
Thank you! You also smell wonderful in Five O’Clock Gingembre!
Good morning! I had (non-sponge, carrot) cake for breakfast, nice coincidence that it’s Sponge Cake Day.
SOTD Bois des Iles Extrait, yum. It is cool where I am, and feels like fall already.
I ate some chocolate cake for breakfast, we must have sensed it was some sort of cake day 🙂
You guys have better radar than I do! Jealous of your cake breakfasts.
Hello fellow cake eater! My breakfast usually involves some form of chocolate but I rarely eat cake. There must have been something in the air 😀
Love carrot cake.
BdI extrait-yum is right! I bet you smell great!
Miss this beauty.
Will pull it out in the fall.
Yum. I need to pull mine out of storage soon.
I was going to wear Philosykos today, but my hand went straight to the bottle of Vol de Nuit extrait. And I guess it fits the (pre) Friday theme, in that it’s an Old School Perfume, in the best possible way.
That’s a beautiful scent! The first time I smelled VdN, it took me right back to elementary school, I think one of my teachers wore it.
Robin – hope you enjoy your son’s convocation, what a beautiful day for it!
I just met a woman who just dropped her son off at St. Charles Borromeo seminary! Never met anyone who dropped their son to a seminary before.
I am wearing SJP Covet – it was recommended last week by an NST’er – and I love it! When I first smelled it I though, “oh, this is lovely”, but that name is taken, ha.
To me it smells like a combination of Hanae Mori & Burberry Brit Rhythm for her. Sort of foody & herby & lemony.
It was a gorgeous day, thanks, and now he is all convocated 🙂
Isn’t Covet fun?
‘L’Air du Desert Marocain’ by Andy Tauer – so brilliant!
You smell fabulous.
LADDM is a fabulous choice.
????
Wonderful!
Thank you to everyone for the happy birthday wishes yesterday. I wasn’t able to respond last night because the internet went out. 🙁
(Though if anyone would like to return to yesterday’s thread I’ll be responding later today, escpecially to the comments about baby Jack’s Autism diagnosis.) Milestone birthdays are hard, y’all. Those nice messages helped me to put my big girl pants on and enjoy the day.
SOTD is Mr. Lucy’s very generous birthday gift of Le Parfum de Therese, and I suspect I’ll be staying in it for awhile. I think I applied about 10 sprays throughout the day yesterday.
you smell lovely.
Lovely gift, congrats!
Off today and sore from my workout. This plan worked perfectly! Happy Wednesday everyone.
I picked Jeux de Peau, from my “the sky is falling” bottle. I got it based on its impending pull from the line and now I’ve fallen in love. I might need to get a back up or two. I mean, I could get 5 for the same cost as a bell jar.
You smell great but every time I hearing about SL and back up bottles it is not exactly helpful …
I know, I’m sorry. I’m not like everyone else: I’ll probably buy a few favorites in 100ml. But those scents they’re pulling to the exclusive line will be sorely missed.
Jeau de Peax makes me think of the scent of my 6 year old’s hair 🙂
(That’s a good thing LoL)
You smell gorgeous 🙂
I remember smelling a gorgeous real sandalwood from Neela’s Trayee on my partner in the morning after a whole night’s sleep. So I wanted to try that again on myself today. Only to find out the sample is empty…
So I went for Mohur!
Also beautiful ????
Have not heard this one mentioned in a while. It’s a beauty!
Angel EDP, vintage. Gosh are the 90s considered “vintage”? This is way smoother and creamier, and not as shrill (to me at least) as what is now available.
If the 90’s are considered vintage, then I’m ancient! You smell fab!
Big storm here yesterday, lots of branches & trees down this morning and still windy. Enjoying the cooler temps with a sample of Kilian Black Phantom. I’m really liking it as it is less sweet and loud on me than Back to Black, which can get suffocating sometimes.
I enjoy this one too. You smell great.
Guerlain Canada is having a sale today (15/20/25 % off at different dollar levels) and I am wearing Mon Precieux Nectar and hoping to convince myself I don’t need it.
Anti lemming thought accepted gratefully.
Guerlain does sales?! Lucky for Canadians!
This was one of those mornings where I was staring at my shelves and nothing really felt right. I ended up going with Marchesa Parfum d’Extase. I kind of ignored this one while it was around, but I happened to find a mini w/ refill at TJ Maxx and decided to get it. I mean it was only $5 so why not. And I had been watching a lot of Project Runway at the time, so that may or may not have influenced my decision to buy it. 🙂 It was a good buy, I think. It’s one of those scents that is pretty and clean (but not annoyingly so) that can work when nothing specific sounds good. Too bad it’s discontinued now.
Tea at the moment is Twinings Lapsang Souchong with milk and honey. Yum.
I remember kind of liking that one when they carried it at Sephora.
I did, too, and wore it quite a bit.
It’s windy and 60 something degrees here, i am freezing. Wearing a very loved perfume, Cuir Alien. Not the most leathery of scents, but still fabulous. I smell much more confident than I really am.
Ha! I would be freezing too! I was the only one at yoga last night NOT complaining about the heat 🙂
You smell great Robin. It’s one out of two Hermes fragrances that I enjoy wearing often.
Another cool-ish day. The morning was very crispy with just 10*C, now the bar is up to 20*C.
I’m wearing Atelier des Ors Iris Fauve.
Why thank you! And I don’t even know your scent but I assume you smell great too 🙂
I could send you a sample of Iris Fauve
Oh you are so kind to offer, but I am so overloaded at the moment with untried samples that I will say thanks but no thanks! It is a waste to send me samples at the moment. (Also, perfectly within the realm of possibility that I already have one and just haven’t gotten to it yet!)
You know where to find me in case you change your mind 😉
Yes, I do, thanks!
Episode 3 of Back to School. In episode 2 our hero (who really should be paying more attention) stocked up on supplies at a strange leather goods shop, ready to start at an ancient and mysterious school.
SOTD is Roads “Clockwork”. The great clock ticks and chimes, the students rush from classroom to hall, from playing fields to dormitories, in a routine that has rapidly become familiar to our hero. But in the great vaulted library, leafing through a volume of engravings of the herbs and spices of Hispaniola, he is startled to find an envelope with his own name on it. Inside, a clock key, and a message: “Sequere latrone MLXIX”. He doesn’t know it yet, but later he will find it ironic: his life has been running like clockwork, but finding this key will bring it all crashing down around his head…
Top: nutmeg, pepper, lemon and bergamot;
Mid: cedar and balsam fir;
Base: violet leaf, vanilla, vetiver, amber and oakmoss.
Clockwork is a pleasant spicy-vetiver scent – could be interesting for vetiver lovers. Lasting power is okay but not great (on my scent-eating skin).
What a cool story-vignette.
Totally agree!
You should be writing for Imaginary Authors. Most excellent!
Decided to wear Cuir de Russie in EDP form and then compare it to the EDT version. The EDT version is much richer and better blended than the EDP. Good thing that I have almost a full bottle of the EDT in the 6.8 ounce bottle and a little bit left of the parfum since I won’t be buying the EDP form.
Since I’m going to be heading to the shower, should I wear Theorema or go with Beloved? I feel really gross after how hot it was yesterday.
I’ve been tempted by the 6.8oz vat of 1932 edt on ebay… the edp has a richer drydown (somewhat like a light version of 31 Rue Cambon) but the happy citrus topnotes are what made me fall for 1932, so I’m pondering.
If you love the EDT more than the EDP, buy the EDT. Is the price is reasonable, I say buy it.
I’m wearing Cuir de Russie as well! Here it is one of those cool summer days where you grab for a missed winter darling like, “Gotta wear this while I have the chance!”
Ooh, good idea. Sprayed down with the edt & now triplets. It’s sunny but windy and cool here – perfect weather for Cuir de Russie.
Wearing Fate Woman today, and it feels perfect for our cooler, less humid air.
I discovered a couple of days ago that my tub of Bronze Goddess had gone bad. I suppose it was inevitable, but it was hard to accept. There were summer days when nothing else felt right. Furthermore, the BG perfume or cologne has very little scent now. Is it my nose? It seems too implausible.
You smell lovely! So sorry to hear about your off tub of BG!! I’ve had mine for a while now, used to keep it in the fridge until this past month or so…hoping it doesn’t go bad!
I’ll bet the refrigeration was a help, Deva. I didn’t even think of that.
The tubs are too big!
And the Eau Fraiche should not lose scent, but the dry body oil definitely will.
SOTD is Tea House by Smell Bent, described as “Earl Grey + Lemon Cake.” I ordered a handful of their 4ml sprays and can I just say “Kudos!” to Smell Bent because this is the PERFECT sample size with enough of the scent to give a good deal of wear and a sprayer rather than a dabbler. I’d rather pay a bit more for this than a small dabber. Tea House was a toss up because I really liked “Incensed” when I sniffed the cap.
In other news, I biked for about an hour and a half this morning (my poor bum!) along the Swamp Rabbit Trail. This is a 22 mile rail-to-trail paved trail through Greenville and up to Travelrs Rest. I adjusted my brakes last night so they actually WORK! Lots of users biking, walking, and running. I bet it’s bumper to bumper on the weekend. ..????
I have a lot to say about the President Trumps speech, but I’m zipping my lip, per Robin’s rules, which I totally understand. This takes A LOT of self control on my part, which is something I am endlessly working on, especially around candy, ice cream, donuts, and Trump! ????
Good for you! I’m a little embarrassed to say I just got on my bike for the first time this summer a few days ago and made my way over to the memorial union along the 2 mile lakeshore path. I then promptly rewarded myself with a scoop of their infamous ice cream. The biking cancels the ice cream out, right?!
Absolutely! ????
I do love those 4ml sprays at Smell Bent.
Aren’t they great? And so affordable. I’m thinking there might be a FB of Incensed in my future because I’m predicting I will blow through this 4ml lickity split.
????
Thank you!! I happen to have an awful lot to say on the subject myself. Since I can’t say it here, I say it everywhere else. Pity my poor husband…
Will also say that I am so glad we have this rule, because those of us with strong feelings also need a place to chill every so often and remember that while perfume may not be the most important thing in the world, everyone has to disengage at least some of the time.
Robin, I wholeheartedly agree. There are plenty of blogs and places where we can freely vent our political frustrations so I am glad to have the sanctuary of NST to connect on a positive and supportive level (and yes, to disengage as well 🙂 !!!) without controversial topics arising…thank you for that!
Glad someone else appreciates it. I am probably too politically engaged, but even then, at the moment, I am sort of blown away by how some venues like Twitter have become all politics, all the time.
My sister sent me a text photo a couple of days ago of the Banana Republic perfume display while she was out shopping and I told her I just got Oud Mosaic. She ended up with Black Platinum. I got a surprise gift package from her last night of a travel sized Vintage Green! So sweet and thoughtful of her. While she doesn’t share my obsession, she has always worn perfume and some of my earliest bottles (Amarige, Sung, Issey Miyake) were hand-me-downs from her- she’s 11 years older. Vintage Green is light, citrusy, green, and woody. Similar to the Hermes Jardins but not as long lasting. Very refreshing!
The green was my favorite when I sniffed them in store. What a nice sister.
It was my second favorite, which I mentioned to her, hint, hint ???? She has always been generous that way.
Very sweet of your sister. Enjoy it!
I will, thanks!
You’re so lucky to have a sister and so thoughtful too.
It is nice though we are very different personality wise (she’s a high energy extrovert).
I liked Vintage Green the best… easy to wear. And I got it for 1/2 price on one of their many sale days, so it was practically perfumath free. (If anyone’s wondering, it’s not ‘vintage green’ as in chypre; the green here is green tea.)
I do end up with mostly a faint green tea in the later phase-which for this one takes an hour. But I do get that deep bitter green of a green chypre for the opening phase and wish that part lasted cuz I’m not really a tea scent fan. I brought it with me to respray and replay.
Yay for sisters who enjoy fragrances!
It is nice, and she loves to shop!!
Very sweet!
Nice to have a sis to share perfume with.
My sister thinks I am her perfume supplier…
Ha! I see that you receive enabler pins from family too!
Just another lemming–fell for Phlur’s sample offer. I am impatient for it to arrive and impatient with myself for succumbing.
Which ones did you pick?
So it was not stress-ordering!
Isn’t there a world procrastinator’s day, or do all the procrastinators keep putting it off? I can’t seem to get it together lately to choose a perfume let alone get anything done but I enjoy the sotd posts to see everyone’s choices. Weather is beautiful here too, might break out Lubin Idole.
I like the idea of World Procrastinator Day!
Ha! I love that first sentence.
Ha! I celebrate that on a regular.
Another blog I follow has a “Do One Thing Thursday” feature to help manage procrastination. It’s kind of a useful idea!
I may need to check that out….
I am suffering from the same 🙁
lol! Good one.
Ack, we missed it! Figures.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Procrastination_Week
Trying out Kemi Hayat today. I am really enjoying it so far.
Oh what’s it like?
I would classify it as woody/oriental. plenty of spices and a dry woodiness with a hint of some incense while it dries down. exceedingly unisex and if I owned a bottle I could see myself reaching for it all the time. I’m sure it would be especially cozy/great in fall/winter.
Just stopping by quickly to say hello and Happy Wednesday! Wearing teeny spritzes of Coriandre on the back of my neck and midriff.
Got home yesterday from Eclipse Viewing, but haven’t caught up on NST comments. Hope everyone has been happy and healthy.
Happy Wednesday to you! Glad you saw it, I missed it.
You smell great Robin, and enjoy your son’s convocation!
House twins in Eau des Merveilles for another day. Inspired by some of yesterday’s posts, I’m going to try to spend more time with scents I really love.
I did, thank you! And you smell fantastic too, of course.
SotM = Iris Ukiyoe
I’m surprised by cloudy, cool weather this morning. Iris Ukiyoe suits the mood.
Had a sniff of Nirvana Amethyst and French Grey on Monday. The paper strips I spritzed continue to smell great.
Hope everyone has a wonderful and fragrant Wednesday.
I liked them both too and they lasted FOREVER on my scent eating skin.
ha! I agree, it seems all of the Nirvana scents last a long time.
Amethyst reminded me of Bourbon. I like them well enough that I’ll go back for another sniff and spritz on my arms to compare.
Ha! This was exactly what I thought as well and I was afraid that the SA picked up the wrong bottle from which to make a sample but I handed it to her and it was definitely Amethyst
I’m wearing Sylvaine Delacourte Lilylang because it goes well over remnants of last night’s sampling of Prada Candy Kiss. Only the white musk remained this morning, so it was a perfect excuse to wear another white musk centric perfume. I liked the Prada way more than I’d expected to based on the silly name. Initially it smelled like Mon Precieux Nectar, and then in the mid dry down the caramel from the original Candy was noticeable.
I should try this. I gave away a good number of Prada Candy Kiss samples as I had somehow accumulated a lot without even trying.
Yeah, do give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised.
SOTD is Givenchy Le De. I smell like a fancy lady 🙂 Now why don’t I wear this more often?? Oh right, Too Much Perfume.
We had a fox party on our back deck this morning… mama and 2 kits. One kit got very curious about our (indoor) cat who was watching from behind the safety of a glass door. Our brave kitty bounced at the glass and spooked the fox 🙂
How cool! Are foxes common in your area?
Yes, we’re in a rural mountain area. They’re California Gray foxes. They have some very strange calls.
Foxes!
I adore foxes, such quirky and inquisitive little characters.
And how brave of your cat! My two Maine Coons are scared of even mice….
Well, one cat slept thru it — he would definitely have been scared, since everything scares him. But the bruiser isn’t scared of much (except vacuum cleaners), and he probably outweighed the fox 2:1. Mind you, I’m not saying it would have been clever of him to take on a fox if there hadn’t been a glass door between them; ‘clever’ is not a word that can be applied to our Kooky cat 🙂
Lucky you! Foxes are adorable.
🙂
We had an intense thunderstorm here last night, and now it’s a lot cooler, but only about 7 Fahrenheit degrees between the air temp and the dew point – I’m spritzing on Timbuktu to take me away to someplace arid.
I fully intend to go to the gym this evening – shaved my legs and everything! – but I’m worried my good intentions won’t hold up in the humidity. The spirit is willing . . .
Well, if you shaved for it, you pretty much have to go, don’t you ??
That’s what I keep telling myself!
Robin,
Enjoy your son’s convocation, how fun! And yes, a very happy birthday to him!
Today’s SOTD is Creed’s Fleurs de Bulgarie with Bulgarian roses, bergamot, ambergris and musk.
It was quite nice, speeches & music & all, and we got to see a preview of the marching band show.
And you smell pretty!
Hello everyone! I am glorying in the cool 70 degree temperatures up here in the north while my friends are sweltering back in Houston. I am wearing Calling All Angels today in honor of the cool weather. I am at a loss to think of a perfume to go with the celebration of abolition and remembrance of slavery day. Perhaps too many perfumes in history did involve exploitation of slave labor or at least of scarce resources in other lands, but I don’t know enough to think this problem through. But I was struck by the news yesterday morning that U of Texas took down all of their Confederate memorial statues literally overnight (reports said “all” of them, suggesting there were many, but I don’t really know if that’s true).
I haven’t tried this one, but Vetiver of Haiti might be a good fit for today, given the influence the 1791 rebellion/revolution had on the day.
Probably ought to give anything with rum notes a miss, though . . .
4 were removed, apparently. Here’s a link to such events countrywide: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/08/16/us/confederate-monuments-removed.html?action=click&contentCollection=U.S.&module=RelatedCoverage®ion=EndOfArticle&pgtype=article
SO jealous of your 70 degrees! Please send some this way????????
Slightly cooler temps but high humidity had me reaching for Safran Troublant this morning. I can still smell it today which is very strange. It usually only lasts a micro minute on my skin.
That longevity is very unusual for Safran Troublant. You smell nice!
Thanks! Another late night for you.
Lucky you! Safran Troublant does not last more than 2 hours on me even if I spray lavishly.
Morning, all. I’m sleepy….sleeeepy…this day is an intrusion into what I really want to do, which is to stay home with the kittens and nap as much as they’ll let me. It wouldn’t be much, but the thought of even a little more sleep is very appealing. But work calls, and I should therefore unpack my inner adult from wherever I have stored her, pootle off and face the mere and the drear, and hope for some gorgeous things along the way. Actually, there is one gorgeous thing: the park is in the full swing of spring. The magnolias are magnificent, the snow drops are pristine, the daffodils are bright and happy, the oaks are hazed in soft new green, and there’s a mad tui living there, hanging upside down from the branches and chuckling to himself throatily as he drinks nectar from the kowhai. In honour of all this springing, I’m wearing Fate. It always seems to me that if gentle golden light had a scent, it would be very like Fate. It’s perfect today for my mood and the weather. Be well. I love your autumn perfume choices.
The springtime life in the park sounds lovely. Let it invigorate you and drive away the sleepiness…at least temporarily! ????
What a beautiful description! I must try Fate one of these days, my spring favourites include Ostara and L’Temps d’une Fete. My Amouage loves are Jub, Epic and Journey, I know u love Beloved, which is still on my ‘to try list’ Hlad to hear you’re taking comfort in the beauty around u,
Sending comforting thoughts from across the pond.
I’m wearing Guerlain Cologne du Parfumeur to add some zip to my Hump Day.
Have a good one, y’all!
Hope it worked!
It seemed to–thanks!
Quel Amour!, inspired by comments here yesterday. Pretty and cheerful for a trying day.
You smell fantastic!
Lovely. The inspiration continues: I think I’ll wear QA tomorrow. Hope your day was better than you expected!
SOTD is Ed Hardy Love & Luck, for no particular reason. Unloading some unloved perfume today in my local Facebook “Buy Nothing” Group. I recommend it highly for getting rid of things and you know that it is going to someone who wants/needs it.
My husband went to Oregon to see the eclipse and is now in Seattle – he keeps sending me all these pictures of the cool stuff he is doing/seeing and I am so envious. Seattle is one of my favorite cities and I haven’t been in a long time.
I hate traveling apart for my husband. I too want him to experience all that I do and vice a versa.
Sponge Cake Day! Now, that’s my kind of day. I have nothing that smells like a sponge cake (I wonder, does Demeter do Sponge Cake?) but I am wearing something yummy all the same–Ashoka.
I have a sudden yearning for sponge cake too, but I’m very suggestible with all these fabulous days Robin keeps finding. My mother used to make one that honestly came out about 5 inches high, but I’ve never had her knack with it. Right now, hot tea and a slice of sponge made into a sandwich with homemade strawberry jam and whipped creams seems as if it could banish all sleepiness.
…or bring on a nice little nap 😉
Not quite sponge cake but cake is cake:
Tokyo Milk Dark Cake Batter errrr…. Bittersweet
Philosophy Fresh Cream
I spent Monday and Tuesday in Le Lebo Neroli in an “I refuse to believe summer is almost over so I am going to smell like the world’s best sunscreen” kind of way. At night I have been wearing Thorn and Bloom’s Limestone which I recommend to anyone interested in something quirky and beautiful that does, in fact, smell like limestone. Today is my sample of Le Labo Mousse de Chene, which I love. I do get the floral aspect someone mentioned earlier this week in with the moss and slightly and bracingly herbal-medicinal.
I can’t wait to get my hands on a Mousse de Chene sample!
I’m curious what you’ll think. I loved it at first but it might have gotten on my nerves after a number of hours. Have to try again on a day when I’m in a better mood!
I will report back!
Back to school in classics again: SOTM was Guerlain Vetiver edt. Am now wearing Cuir de Russie edt inspired by comments above. I wear Chanel a lot, and rarely feel underdressed (vintage No 5 + pajamas is a common occurrence in my life) but I’m feeling a little outclassed by CdR in my black tee and jeans on a lazy late-summer afternoon.
Sounds like CdR is wearing you 🙂
I started the day off with Tom Ford’s Vert Fleur. However, my Chanel Gabrielle arrived this afternoon and now I am wearing that. It is so sparkling…I feel like I should be drinking champagne or prosecco while wearing it!
Haven’t tried Gabrielle, but know that you smelled good in TF!
Hello NST! So, I did a little more poking around the Internet to find other sources of Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade for folks who don’t have a Wegman’s near them. The Fentiman’s website has a rather nifty retail locator for both the US and Canada. Here’s the link: http://www.drinkfentimans.com/the-shops. Some of the other merchants in the US include Safeway and Whole Foods. Happy hunting!
SOTD = Miss Dior Fraiche EdT, from the sample stash. I may have used this up… sample is in an opaque vial, so I’m not quite sure. I’ll see what happens the next time I try to spritz it.
Woo hoo. I had to pick up a prescription for mom and decided to hunt down a 4-pack. It tasted pretty good but ultimately, I satisfied my itch as each bottle has 31 g of sugar! I may experiment with adding it to seltzer.
Jalapeno, did you make that cocktail recipe?
Unfortunately, no. Some of the ingredients for it are very hard to come by in my area. But I bet that mixing the Fentiman’s with just a bit of Hendrick’s gin and rosewater would be rather nice… hmmmmm.
FM L’Eau d’Hiver. For some reason I think this one matches my yellow and brown jokapoika shirt
I had to google jokapoika! Thanks, that’s the new thing I learned today.
I’m in Houston for the rest of the week, joining my siblings for dinner tonight. I’m so excited to see one of my brothers for the second time this month! Such a treat.
Wearing Carnal Flower which I find really beautiful in the heat down here.
Enjoy your time! I heard TX is getting some bad weather.
Kuhl-Linscomb on Kirby @ Alabama is a great place to visit for perfume! There is a Le Labo boutique on Wertheimer @ Dunlavy and right next to it is an Aesop store. Hope you do not have trouble from the predicted flooding; remember, do not try driving into high water.
Wearing Wood Sage and Sea Salt and fighting off a migraine. Jealous of all of you New Englanders and anyone else with the gorgeous pre-fall weather. I keep walking by and sniffing my bottle of Nirvana Rose in anticipation of cooler weather.
Hope you win the battle!
SOTD: Five O’Clock Gingembre to ward off the effects of this cold day and fight my cold. I can smell it intermittently between nose blows LOL
Poor you. I hope you feel better soon and you smell wonderful!
Feel better soon!
No SOTE as I’m gearing up to make a Raspberry white chocolate cheesecake for a family reunion starting on Friday. Making the bottom and raspberry swirl stuff tonight and the actual cheesecake tomorrow night.
Yum, I’ll be over with my fork! ????
I’ll save you a piece! It’s so sinfully good.
Oh boy! that sounds delish!
SOTD = PdE Corsica Furiosa
Nice! Green and herby! No connection to Back to School. Now what to wear in 2 days!
Commuting Woes No. 385:
A train derailed at NY Penn Station this morning, causing the train I intended to catch to be cancelled. The next train came 25 minutes later and it became a local train. New Jersey Transit did not initially report the incident through text alerts. Sad that derailments are no longer news!
BTW, I mentioned that we had a cable disruption on Monday of all days and I lamented not being able to record the NASA solar eclipse special. Guess what, it did record and Imwas able to zip through the show. And CM8 and someone else who asked about the $9 credit due to the cable outage, I called my cable company’s Billing Department and said I would like to get credit for the outage. I did the same thing when my Internet service was spotty a year or two ago. I pretty much said why should I pay for a service I was not able to use.
How is the longevity and sillage of Corsica Furiosa? I am tempted to blind buy a full bottle, but I guess that with 100ml I can even bath myself with it if it does not last…
On me, sillage is big for the first hour and then it quiets to light cologne for the next 4 hours and then poof! YMMV.
Thanks for that tidbit….my comcast is so so so bad service wise I might just do the same……I agree, why pay for a service that isn’t accessible?
Yep.. and they twice charged me for home visits even though it was clearly a problem with the line. It took me 4 months to get those 2 charges off my account; I even threatened to bill them MY hourly rate for the amount of time I spent trying to resolve the issue.
