Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Welcome to August. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am commando, as I have to leave shortly to take care of some family business (nothing bad, just stuff I need to do). Posting will be lighter than usual today as a result. Tea at the moment is China Panyang Wu-Yi Golden Monkey from Upton.
Reminder: 8/4 will be Compare & Contrast Friday...wear two perfumes with the same note. Suggested by thegoddessrena.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Peter Rabbit tea set ("Providing endless opportunities for playtime fun, the Children's tea set includes miniature Teapot, Sugar and Creamer as well as Cups, Saucers and Plates for two. When the entertaining has ended, this beautifully designed collection can be housed in its bespoke blue suitcase – a stand out gift to be treasured.") is $99 at Wedgwood.
I am wearing Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs. Very pretty and very cheerful.
just looked this one up, and it sounds lovely. Google let me know it is on sale at Neiman Marcus for $600, but with free shipping! because once you put down $600 every little bit helps I guess 😉
Oh, it’s a must-try for orange blossom fans! On the cleaner side of OB scale – a white floral with citrus aspects, but still a bold and heady white floral.
$600 is for the Parfum version. If you scroll down, you’ll see the EDP version for $190. Still not cheap, that’s for sure, but there are discounters and splits.
ah, good to know, thanks! And you smell great!
It’s around $60 at online discounters!
Was about to point this out! Lovely fragrance can be had for a better price!
Thank you, Elisa. 🙂
Happy Tuesday, NST! Today’s theme: lavender. I’m in a little Urban Decay Go Naked oil and a lot of L’Occitane Lavande from a roll-on.
Exciting news #1: I got a new (to me) bike yesterday! It’s a cute, gently used Schwinn road bike that just needs the cobwebs brushed off and a tune-up. I can’t wait to take it for a spin.
Exciting news #2: I’m kicking off my summer/fall concert season by going to an Alt-J concert at an outdoor theater tonight! Can’t. Wait.
Enjoy your new bike!
Fun! I love outdoor concerts. Will you ride your new bike to the concert?
Wish I could, but it’s near downtown in an area with lots of traffic, so I’m not quite brave enough to get there on a bike. The weather is shaping up to be perfect!
Lavender is a big hit these days in Long Island, I was reading yesterday in the WSJ (n/a) that people are coming from all over to take selfies and photos of their lavender fields in LI, so much so that all the residents are starting to complain about the traffic and influx of tourists.
here is the link if you are interested https://www.wsj.com/articles/purple-craze-the-lavender-of-long-island-attracts-mystery-crowds-1501437355
Fun! I love bikes and biking about- and i hope you do as well!
Enjoy your concert!
SOTD: L’occitane’s Verbena from my fridge.
In my cup: Nothing yet and the verbena is making me crave a cup of Earl Grey or English Breakfast with a slice of lemon. 🙂
Perfect- and we are scent cousins!
Wearing Jean-Louis Scherrer Scherrer on my wrists and Mito on my torso. These 2 scents seems so similar in nature, but there are very few official notes that they seen to share – Oakmoss for the win.
I am green, green, green today ( even my shirt), just on the verge of being harsh. As long as neither I nor the scents tip over, all is good.
I did remember rabbit x 3 when I got up this AM, but my true 1st words of the day were ” Bosley, go lay down, Momma doesn’t want her toes nibbled” at 2 am to a young, silly greyhound who somehow determined it was playtime.
You smell great! Waft some my way please!
I am very curious about the Scherrer, so thank you for letting us know!
I keep yawning. That’s a good start to the morning, right? 🙂
Wearing Epice Marine today. It’s so gorgeous that I could possibly make it a top 5 deserted island fragrance. I really need a travel size for touch ups though.
I need the travel version too!
I used my 100ml so fast I considered getting the 200ml!!
Another gorgeous sunny day, after big thunderstorms yesterday afternoon. Did a massive cleanup/reorg of the perfumes yesterday and found an old nearly empty bottle of L’Eau d’Hiver, so I’m wearing that today.
One of my favourite scents.
I love this, but it’s very faint on me.
Wore L’Eau d’Hiver yesterday — perfect for summer!
I wore Coco to bed last night, and again this morning. I purchased it because I wanted a gold standard oriental, even though I was not fully enamored with it. I have to say I like it more and more the more I wear it! My husband’s Grandmother wore it, and he likes it too – I have no previous associations with it. I like that everyone is not wearing it. That is all.
I like to wear Coco to bed, too! You smell great!
thanks! 🙂 it’s like a second blanket, right?
a warm, fuzzy, brown blanket. Lovely !
Yes, I don’t think many people wear it. When I bought my bottle the SA seemed confused that I wasn’t purchasing Coco Mademoiselle. To me it feels less dated than some big eighties perfumes and very rich.
that’s funny 🙂
Another fan of Coco! To me it is a cold weather scent, but this summer I missed it and started wearing it to bed. One spray on the wrist and I am falling asleep with my nose glued to the arm. : )
I probably put too much on at bedtime, but when I woke up I though “oh, what smells so good?” and it was me!
You smell great! Try it in the colder months, it will be glorious. I have to tell you that you have such a happy picture it always gives me a smile:)
oh, thank you 🙂 Yes, I have only just purchased it, so I am looking forward to wearing it in colder weather! (I do not like the cold, so I’m happy this new perfume hobby is going to help me this winter)
I wore jasmine to bed last night (Soivohle’s Yin Hao), and had the most marvelous sleep.
Box of Eels
Candy apple Revlon lippy
you smell great!
🙂 the sliminess of the eels, the scent of the box, the sea, lovely
You smell lovely. The edt or new edp?
Its the EDT, I got a small decant thanks to a generous NSTer
Forgot to mention..I said rabbit rabbit rabbit this morning
A new bottle of Cristalle EDT arrived yesterday (just in time to avoid sitting in a delivery truck in triple-digit heat), so of course that’s my SOTD. Love.
Congrats on the bottle! I am debating a purchase of Cristalle edt myself.
You smell fab! one of my favorites for winter
you smell great! I wish Cristalle worked on my skin, but sadly it does not.
Acqua di Parma “Colonia Assoluta”. Pffft.
It must be pretty awful because you didn’t bother to list the notes.
Well, it’s an AdP Cologne, so it smells of citrus for about 5 minutes. ;^)
Here are the official notes:
Top: bergamot, bitter orange, sweet orange and lemon verbena;
Mid: jasmine, vetiver, ylang-ylang, cedar, cardamom, pink pepper and paprika;
Base: patchouli, oakmoss, white musk and resins.
Yeah, as if.
????
Pffft, ha! I like your one words reviews. 🙂
It helps that I’m super busy. :^)
I’m not perfume-smart enough to do the community challenge this week, so running through a bunch of freebie AdP samples. I’ll be perversely disappointed if any of ’em prove worthy of writing more than one word. :^D
My Community Project is Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca on my right side and Prada Infusion de Fleur d’oranges (original incarnation) on my left. White flowers and orange blossoms all round, but the Aqua Allegoria is more herbal and light, while the Prada is rounder and deeper, IMHO.
Good comparison, thanks for sharing!
Been very busy w/ the new job I have had no time to read or post. 🙁
But I am debating springing for Chypre Fatal. A very kind NSTer gave me a decant and I think I must have more. 🙂 Does anyone have any thoughts or feelings 😉 on the current formula…wondering if it is safe to go ahead and order and not worry about reformulation or not.
I so miss pouring over the comments…must…carve…out…time…today…
Also something I have noticed….
I have been trying to wear less perfume w/ the new job so I have only been spraying my forearms. Typically I might spray my stomach, forearms and neck/decolletage.
Since I have only been applying to my forearms the last couple weeks, I notice that all the perfumes I have worn seem to last longer and even seem a bit stronger and I wonder if spraying my neck/decolletage makes for olfactory fatigue/overload where I couldn’t smell the fume as well. This is an interesting discovery for me and I wonder if by spraying my neck/decolletage in hopes of more fumigation I have actually been getting less…
if so that could be my problem, I always spray my neck and the back of my neck
very interesting. I’ll try this tomorrow 🙂
That Peter Rabbit suitcase is adorable!
Today I am wearing the carefree and lovely Un jardin en Mediterranee, by Hermès..
Wish we had more mediterranean temperatures right here in The Netherlands We have fickle weather, rain, sun, cold, warm.
Clothes = layering and always an umbrella with me haha.
Same in Duesseldorf. Of course, we’re practically in The Netherlands anyway – the local dialect looks quite like Dutch to me.
In summer our coasts get lots of German visitors. We
…then kinda feel like a German state anyways 😉
Barney’s Route du The’. Great for a hot summer day.
Sampling Feu Secret and I must say that pairing Iris with turmeric is rather interesting. I like it so far.
Anybody in NY want to hang out next Thurs 8/10? I’m thinking that I haven’t been to Osswald in a while, though I’d also be up for Barney’s. My screen name is my yahoo address
My sister quite loves Feu Secret.
Sorry I’ll miss you in NYC. Will be out of town. Hopefully next time.
I unfortunately couldn’t make any get-together on a weekday next week. Boo hoo!
I’m wearing Orange Sanguine on one arm and 4711 AC Blood Orange & Basil on the other. The Blood Orange & Basil does not have the sillage of the Orange Sanguine, and is not as juicy an orange fragrance. However, it is very much cheaper.
I bought AC Blood Orange and Basil, as well as the Mandarine and Cardamom – and like them both to a surprising degree. I keep one in my linen closet, and the other in my laundry room, and use them as home sprays. I find the 4711 colognes to be very much in the vein of Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria line. Really quite nice, especially for the price.
I have never tried them that way. Since I have cats, I tend not to use home sprays. They would also make great linen sprays, although I don’t know if they would stain. I might try the Lavender & Thyme and see what happens. I am about to trash my sheets anyway, since they all have rips. All those cat claws, you know.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! That tea set is adorable.
Last month I made a vow not to do any shopping (beyond basics), and I failed so miserably I’m embarrassed to explain any further. So let’s try this again: no shopping in August.
Among my failures were some decants from a 20% off sale, which arrived yesterday. Today I’m trying Pacifica French Lilac, which is lovely. I will probably pick up a bottle (in September!).
I have a rollerball of French Lilac and the matching lotion. It’s very pretty. The damage couldn’t have been too bad since it is Pacifica. I know what you mean though. I resist for several months and then fall off the wagon.
The Pacifica decant was very cheap (I actually felt a bit silly buying a decant of a cheapie, but I’m sticking to my no blind-buy rule, if not my no shopping rule) but the others I bought were Serge Lutens and Guerlain. I haven’t bought much since Feb, and I have to admit I had a great time testing some new things yesterday!
I am wearing Equistrius on my left wrist, No 19 on my right and ISM on my neck. I am an iris bomb today and loving it!
drops bouquet of irises, walks off stage…
????
you smell lovely. I am planning on 19 for Friday SOTD and will pair it with something..I am not sure what yet
Equistrius is lovely with it’s chocolate/cocoa vibe.
But ISM gives me shivers… 😉
Sotd is Lea on this back to work Tuesday.
My free trial of XM radio was supposed to end today but was still there when I got in my car this morning. Curious to see if it will still be there after work.
Just be careful that it is not the sort of free trial where you have to cancel the service if you don’t want it, otherwise they keep providing the service and start charging you.
Pretty adorable tea set. Went light and barely there today in JM English Pear and Freesia.
I hope that you feel better today!
I’m totally fine today, except that it’s only Tuesday. Thanks for asking????
What is it that Deva said?
Tuesday is Monday’s ugly step sister, or something like that… ????
Chanel 19 edt, because it fits every time I wear it.
Please help me kill my lemming! If you have SL Bas de Soie and are willing to part with 2 ml please find me in the land of gmail dawt comme. I am lasto4ka5. I will send samples in return.
PSA: if you love Rituals check this out
https://www.gilt.com/city/national/offer/ritualsjuly17
I don’t have any, but if it helps, I don’t like it at all! It’s got like a wet wool note in it or something. Yuck.
Thank you for the input! The reviews on Fragrantica are mixed, but I am still curious since it has hyacinth and iris notes.
To this day I don’t have any FBs by SL. So far I tried Ambre Sultan, Chergui,Arabie, Daim Blond, Santal Majuscule, Datura Noir, LFdB, Chypre Rouge, Fumerie Turque ( talked myself out of buying it, but would participate in a split in a heartbeat) and Louve ( a generous NSTer sent me a decant).
Generally, SL scents either don’t work for me (scrubbers!) or they are not easy to wear, in which case the decant will be enough.
I’ve been testing a manufacturer’s spray sample I’m ready to pass along, so I could send you a tad less than 1 ml if you want. I didn’t douse myself on the two days I wore it, so I didn’t deplete it much.
Some aspects of the fragrance I love, and I’m happy I made the attempt, but it falls into the Not Easy to Wear category, as you say—because of some shared DNA with Secretions Magnifiques 😉
Hi beck_hen! I replied on your e-mail 🙂 Please scroll down your original message to find mine- gmail is playing jokes on me lately.
Phew… it’s 35*C in the shade today.
I sprayed some Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis in the morning, shut down all the blinds and opened all windows wide open it order to let the air circulate (no air conditioning in my lab).
As a consolation prize to this weather my bottle of Hermes Eau de Neroli Dore arrived. 100 ml & it’s all mine. For 35 euros! I know what I’m going to wear tomorrow 🙂
Enjoy your new bottle!
Oh wow, a full bottle of Neroli Dore! What a treat!
Wow great price!!!
DSH l’Opera des Rouges from a sample. Very pretty honeyed carnations and roses.
I may have a sample of that DSH. I will check after work. It sounds lovely.
Wearing Annick Goutal’s Le Chevrefeuille (perhaps misspelled). I’ve come to realize that Goutal is one of my favorite houses.
I will have to try that one..
I don’t consider AG one of my favorite houses, but lately I have been wearing a lot of Songes
Le Chevrefeuille is a great honeysuckle, you smell wonderful.
Good Morning!
1) SOTD: Here on Arrakis it is going to quite hot , so I spritzed on L’Occitane Eau Universelle all over before leaving. Later on, I will freshen up with Florida Water.
2) Made containers of salad fixings, vegan ice cream, quinoa and veggie fried rice. We are stocked and ready to go for the week- so slaving over a hot stove!
ha, Arrakis for sure. The heat is ON in this part of the northern hemisphere. Your menu sounds delicious. I was just thinking I ought to steam some rice late tonight when the windows are open so we can re-heat it for dinner tomorrow.
SotM = Oeillet Sauvage
Rabbit rabbit rabbit in a field of carnations. Today is a good day. I like Oeillet Sauvage. L’Artisan Parfumeur often makes me happy.
in Moon Bloom today. I am re-liking it again (we had a brief falling out earlier this year, I was considering sending it to eBay. Good thing I did not 🙂
PSA HauteLook has a while bunch of TokyoMilk products
You smell great!
Who are these people buying their children Wedgwoods? Geez.
I smell lovely in TDC Kashan Rose! For comparison, I’ve brought (but haven’t yet put on) Odin Milieu Rosa.
Thank you SO MUCH, you beautiful people, for your wonderful birthday wishes yesterday 🙂 You really brightened what turned out to be a challenging day at work!
I bought kid’s Wedgewood cereal bowl at my local TJ Max for $ 3.99 with Peter the Rabbit pattern 🙂
Would I buy the whole set? Hell, no. Corelle is more suitable for the families with kids, IMHO.
Nice find!! Yup, my parents had Corelles only until I was like 8, too 🙂
My youngest just turned 1, so we have a long way to go.
Because they are grandparents.
🙂
Happy belated birthday! I was so busy coping with similar work days that I’ve missed a ton of NST-ing.
I think the Wedgwood is nice for a grandparent sort of gifty thing. My grandpa got me a fancy demitasse teacup and saucer every year for my birthday when I was little. Completely impractical but hugely thrilling to have something that was fancy and MINE in the china cabinet. I was allowed to drink coffee from them when he was visiting, just like a real grownup.
For the record, we still use the Corelle I grew up with. Far more practical 😉
Thank you!! And that sounds ADORABLE.
Today I am wearing MFK’s Petite Matin.
I’m wearing theorema, which I’ve never tried in the heat. I wanted something light and orange-y. We’ll see.
I’m rehearsing in a sweltering studio this week, I need the lightest, most refreshing orange blossom scents…
Oh, you smell lovely! A Theorema split with the lovely springpansy was the first split/transaction I participated in here on NST. You folks are so awesome. <3
I think you should be saying WE folks are so awesome!
Aww, thanks, P.! ????
You smell great. Theorema in the heat sounds delicious. I must try that soon.
I’ll be running an assortment of brief errands today, which means I will be in and out of a car that never quite cools off. If you live in the south, you know what I mean. 🙂
Sooo, in citrus today: Yuzu Fou on the left and Mandarin Glaciale on the right.
Stay cool and comfy if you can, y’all.
I’m the opposite , sitting in the car with the heater on full blast, dreading having to get out into the cold drizzle
Yuck! Well, at least we smelled good!
Chanel 19 for me today because I’ve neglected her lately and I felt her glare from behind the other boxes in the perfume cabinet this morning.
Scent twin! Chanel 19 is the most worn scent for me, I simply love it!
Love the Peter Rabbit set. My sister used to have a Bunnykins set as a toddler and had the delightful habit of dumping her baby plate on the floor after she had finished eating. Amazingly it survived about 4 falls only to splinter into tiny pieces at her 5th attempt.
SOTD is Musc Intense by Parfums de Nicolaï, a delicious floral musk.
Dame Bergamot, Jasmine and Labdanum
You smell great! I love many things from Dame, and that is one of them!
Thank you! It is very easy and versatile and gets me lots of compliments.
Heading to an outdoor yoga class this evening…a teeny tiny spray of L’Air Du Desert Marocain on my wrists and tiny drop of Un Rose Vermeille on tops of feet. I am finding that the fragrances I think would work better in the winter actually smell much much nicer on my skin in the summer (same thing happened with MFK APLS)
Robin, have we ever done an Andy Tauer Friday community project? He seems to get a lot of love on NST 🙂
We did an indie project once, in which he featured prominently, but will see if that’s all. We could do it again.
Like Petunia, I’m also wearing iris today but mine are Hiris, Infusion d’Iris, and D600. Hope I don’t suffocate the Comcast technician coming this afternoon. I bought a new modem and online tech support couldn’t get it to connect, so I have to have an in-home visit. I hate Comcast but the only other available provider is (can you imagine?) worse for bait-and-switch promos and customer service.
It’s supposed to be 100F here today. I’ll water the plants and then stay indoors.
That’s a marvelous group of iris scents. I wore Hiris last evening and felt elegant even though I was wearing PJs. 😉
Wasn’t it you who wore three lovely iris perfumes yesterday? It’s an amazingly versatile note.
Good luck hooking up your new modem.
Yesterday was lilac–this week’s project has made me realize that when I like a note, I usually end up with at least three different takes on it. Tuberose and jasmine have at least six each!
That’s right, thanks for reminding me. I recently discovered the most lovely lilac note that I have ever smelled in the opening notes of Opardu. I’m lemming it something awful. Of course I haven’t smelled every pergume with lilac but IMO, it is really beautiful.
I am with you on the Comcast..worst ever…and that is all we have access to 🙁
Viktoria Minya Hedonist Rose today, from a spray sample. Roses seem to go sour on me, but this one works! I get a lot of sweet white wine and peaches with this. The fly that got in the house seems to think I smell amaaaazing.
That opening white wine note is something else. And such a beautiful bottle !!
Indeed! I am really liking it, but also wondering if I smell like I had a few too many at brunch.
I haven’t tried the rose but enjoy Hedonist and Minya’s iris scent. Lucky Scent has a travel trio that I’ve thought about buying but somehow, I haven’t.
Unfortunately neither the Hedonist or iris worked on me. I had thought about the 5 piece travel set available on Viktoria Minya’s website and was very glad I didn’t blind buy it based on my affection for the rose one. I don’t think honey is listed as a note for the other 2, but my notes to myself indicate I smelled honey in them, which doesn’t usually work well for me.
If you find you like the rose, that 3 piece set seems wonderful!
Oh boo, the 3 piece has the cassis one, not rose. Silly me!
I haven’t tried the cassis. The only one I want is Hedonist which is why I haven’t bought it. I don’t mind the honey note but understand that it’s not for everyone.
Some roses smell like dirty socks to me.
But in a good way. ????
Fascinating! Never made that connection — now I’m definitely going to be smelling for socks the next time I sample some roses!
I finally remembered triple rabbit today. Things are looking up! Lol. Sotd is original Juicy Couture, which has become my no brainer work scent.
I like Juicy Couture in the parfum very much. The EdP seems unbearably Bubblicious Watermelon to me, but that super-artificial note is not really apparent to me in the parfum, and I picked up a mini at Walmart for $6. (Really, $6 for 5 ml. Score!)
Today’s SOTD is Fleur d`Oranger 27 body lotion by Le Labo, one of my favorite orange blossom scents, with notes of orange blossom, petitgrain, bergamot and lemon and a musk dry down. Very refreshing and light but this scent lasts all day on me – quite fragrant!
I collect antique tea sets/cups (and adore Beatrix Potter & Peter Rabbit), I would love to have this in my collection! My mom did needle point and focused on works by Beatrix Potter, seeing this reminds me of some of her work, which I’m very fortunate to have!
I received the gift of four perfumes from a Queenstown perfumer yesterday, all based on South Island (NZ) landscapes, and using extracts from native plants. The first is High Country Tussock with notes of koromiko which is a hebe. The scent has a quiet, creamy mimosa ( koromiko has a faint sweet pollen/ freesia scent) aspect and I think it also has a faint raspberry scent , rather like a snowberry. The second is Mountain Herbs which is very sheer, but with aninteresting horopito note. Horopito is an alpine growing pepper tree, a black pepper scent with a touch of bitterness like wormwood, maybe a flash of juniper. The pepper works well on the skin. Both perfumes are very sheer…the tussock is an EDP, the herbs EDT, very close to the skin but they do develop rather than fade to nothing. A little bit on the watery side, as in could use a bit more body. I will test the other two today.
Fascinating! Look forward to the next installment, Kanuka!
Interesting! I didn’t know there was a perfumer in Queenstown, I must investigate.
She lives in Tauranga but works out of Queenstown. ‘Queenstown perfumiers’ is the name
OOO! Really loving what you are wearing today 🙂
Sounds really, really interesting.
Really cool stuff you are trying, Kanuka.
I chose Carnal Flower to bloom and hold up in today’s heat. Today marks the beginning of a heat wave in the PNW, and I’m not pleased about it at all. No air conditioning at home will make for some sweaty, restless nights. Already planning to eat out at some restaurants with a/c later in the week, but everyone else may have the same idea.
We’re expecting the same heat up here, and I’m strangely terrified! It doesn’t help that we have a spooky red sun today due to smoke from the forest fires.
I’m currently staying at the East-West Center at University of Hawaii in Honolulu while husband is doing his interview with the academic dept … they call it a “hotel for guests of the university,” but really it’s just a dorm room with a private shower. No AC. Scratchy sheets. Barely any electrical sockets. Good thing we’re not paying for this, or I’d be kind of annoyed. It was so humid when we got here last night at 10:30 that we could barely sleep, and then the trash guys came this morning at 6 am and emptied the bins (very loudly CLANK CRASH CLANK BANG) right underneath our open window.
Sorry. I’m in Hawaii and I’m complaining. What is wrong with me?
NO A/C??? Oh lordie!!!
Maybe you’re preparing for when you’re a local! 🙂
Wearing Samsara edp for my birthday, and really enjoying it. It was raining when I woke up this morning, which is unexpected since I live in Los Angeles and was the best possible birthday gift for me! I’m a grey skies kind of girl.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday! Samsara is a good fit for rain. Enjoy the day!
Happy Birthday! Enjoy the showers!
happy bday
Happy Birthday!
Happy scented Birthday! Samsara is gorgeous!
Happy birthday! You smell fantastic!
Happiest of Birthday wishes to you Stephanie!
Happy fragrant birthday wishes! You smell fabulous.
**waves** I’m quite some distance from you but I did notice the dramatic clouds today. They make a nice change from blue skies, but does it have to be so hot? Yikes! and please pass the cologne. 🙂
Happy birthday Stephanie! You smell beautiful.
Happy birthday, Stephanie!
I’m in the mood for something a bit lighter today, so Mary Greenwell’s Plum is calling out to me. Yay for August, spring is getting a bit closer in the southern hemisphere.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Not sure if it was the first thing I said this morning, but it was pretty close. SOTD = a repeat of yesterday’s Tocca Cleopatra, from the sample stash. I should remember that when I am trying new samples that wearing them over the drydown of the previous day’s scent is NOT the best of plans.
Hot Hot Hot here in the SF Bay area. Those of us above the fog-inversion layer (over 1000 ft) are in for days and nights of hot-ness. So I’m going beachy with my scents for the rest of this week. SOTM was Parfumerie Generale Bois Naufrage; then I went for a swim; SOTA is Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil. It’s a bit milder than the perfume… nice.
“Scent of the afternoon”
I ran into Ulta and spritzed hypnotic poison on my left arm, and Escasa fiesta Carioca on my right. If perfume were groceries, yes, I would throw these in my cart but they are not so they will stay at Ulta.
There was a rude Ulta cashier who refused to be helpful to an elderly lady looking for full coverage make up. So I helped her, and also let her know how great the Josie Maran full coverage foundation is. Just doing my part.
That is great foundation, especially for dry skin.
That’s me!
We need to do some perfumath! Whatever the total cost is of the 2 bottles is what you saved today which means you have free money to spend on your next perfume purchase!
Good on you with helping the elderly lady. If there was a Sephora nearby, I would have walked her there to buy what she tried on at Ulta. Some SA’s don’t have any sense – they follow people who don’t want to be disturbed and ignore people who look like they could use some help. I tend to get loud when ignored…like when the lone cashier decides to arrange the display even though I was on line with an item in hand. My “Is there a cashier here?” is loud enough to wake the dead.
“Hellllooooo????” Bwahaha 🙂 I hear you, The SA at my Ulta seem particularly confused.
And I love your financial logic Hajusuuri 🙂
I want that Peter Rabbit play set! Cutest bunny ever!
I did the Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit thing this morning. To remind me to say it, I unearthed the 5-inch arm and leg poseable bunny I filched from my nephew 14 years ago, placed it in a gold organza bag and hung the bag on the bathroom door handle.
I kinda sorta participated in the Friday Challenge theme of Compare and Contrast wearing perfumes with the same note.
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP layered with 28 La Pausa
I had a theory of how this would go down, with 19 walloping La Pausa’s head. Well, color me surprised! La Pausa held her own and asserted herself alongside No.19!
In this episode of She Was Wearing What?!?
Woman with two sons. One looked to be 8 and the other one 3 or 4. I’m not a good judge of age based on my oddly shaped and sized nephewa and nieces. Anyway, picture a medium-weight cable knit just below the butt sweater, cut out the back panel but leaving the neck hole with about 2 inches of fabric and the cap sleeves intact, add two strips of fabric forming an x-back located waist high (I assume this is to put the fromt together, no bra (the sides of her boobies were visible) and I refused to look more inttently for a panty line. Part of me thought thank God she did not have young girls travelling with her! But what about the boys? What kind of message is she sending to the boys? Unbelievable!
You need to write a book……”The Adventures of Hajusuuri in NYC” 🙂
Poor kids. I wonder if she bought her outfit or made it herself? I guess it really doesn”t matter but I have to wonder if she missed a dose of medicine?
Oh Gosh! Disgusting…….
Trialing Sauf Conte Bombarde today. Im an incense fiend, but picky, but this one, love, love. Now to scheme how I can get my hands on a bottle ????
Just getting into incense myself, other than this what are your favorites?
I would recommend Comme des Garcons Incense series, Tom Ford Sahara Noir, Donna Karan Black Cashmere. I think this is discontinued, but you can find decants in STC and other online decanting stores.
Thank you for these suggestions!
SSS Incense Pure, Bond no 9 Chinatown, Heeley’s Cardinal, Demeter’s Incense and straight up frankincense essential oil which can be bought at a local health food store.
Thanks CM8!
Oh I had a sample of that one and one other by this perfumer and I drained them both very quickly…I liked them as well.
