It's Tuesday, and it's Hot Fudge Sundae Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Aftelier Curious. Tea at the moment is Harney & Sons Tower of London.
Reminder: 7/28 will be Nathalie Friday...wear a perfume by Nathalie Lorson or Nathalie Feisthauer, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: I'm pretty sure my tea would taste much better if it had been wheeled to me on a Mategot Trolley: "A spacious tea trolley with two trays in perforated steel connected by steel tubes. The lower level includes a newspaper holder. The trolley has rotating castors." The new one shown, from Gubi, is $999 at the Danish Design Store. You can find vintage trolleys by Mathieu Matégot at 1stDibs, starting at around $2000.
That is one handsome trolley!
Commando drinking coffee and burning a violet & amber wood candle. I plan to wear Jardin Apres Le Mousson later since it’s cool and cloudy here.
Isn’t it? Cool here too, finally.
Oh, that candle sounds lovely!
It would be nice to be served tea from a fancy tea trolley. Especially if someone else mskes it and cleans up. ????
Another cool cloudy day here so I chose Cocoa Tuberose as today’s comfort scent.
Yes it would!
Back from Canada.. no JT sittings
SOTD Songes
I meant to say no Justin Trudeau sightings
I have quite the crush on JT….
You smell great!
raising my hand…and saying that I follow him on instagram!
Instagram, FB…I social media stalk him whenever possible HA!
He marched in our local Pride Parade over the weekend. Quite the media frenzy.
See, if you had come to visit me, we could have stalked ummm seem him
🙂
I would loved to have stalked him ..i mean see him …with you
Oh man, my first thought was justin Timberlake is Canadian? Lol. Glad you are back:)
Ha!
Same! We just watched ‘Trolls’ the other night and I just loved it. There were many parts that were laugh out loud funny. Characters that fart glitter and poop cupcakes are right up my alley apparently. Lol. Plus singing, I didn’t know that Anna Kendrick had such a lovely voice.
Welcome back! Hope you had a great trip despite not having dinner with JT.
Could you believe he didn’t make time for me? hahaha
His loss ????
Rats. I forgot to get you your info on Ottawa. Hope you had a good vacation.
Ottawa was great, we visited MosaicCanada in the Jacques Cartier park, some of the best horticulture statues I have ever seen. Did the usual beaver tail pastry, canal cruise, changing the guard parade and I found a great boulangerie that sold amazing delights and my first time trying Dammann Freres tea..
Oh…could you tell me where you found the Dammann Freres Tea in Ottawa? Would love to be able to purchase some locally! Thanks!!
It was at a boulangerie in By Market, they didn’t sell a container of tea, you could just order a cup of tea and pick what flavor. I tried the breakfast and the darjeeling. The name of the shop was the French Baker. I asked her where I could by the tea and she said maybe Bagota market..I didn’t have time to go but it was right across from where they sell the beaver tails.
Thanks! Next time I go downtown I will check it out.
We also did some stuff in Toronto and Niagara Falls..
In Toronto I waited online to eat the crazy charcoal ice cream craze.
How did you like the charcoal ice cream? I tried a bite here in LA and thought the color was better than the flavor. In my humble opinion, black sesame ice cream is still the best black (technically grey) ice cream
I got green tea (black) mixed with purple which was a sweet yam. They also fill the bottom of the cones with fluff. The ice cream wasn’t overly sweet or artificial tasting..I really really enjoyed it. Worth the wait
Ha, I just found out about charcoal ice cream last week. I am behind.
Hmmm. I just now found out about it, so I’m really behind. ????
That is a very nice trolley! No SOTD for me today. Taking a break, since not a single perfume appeals or satisfies me lately. I will be happy reading other’s people choices! I hope to recover soon to enjoy all my perfumes 🙂
I go through that sometimes. I jad that kind of day on Sunday but just the scent of my Lush Lust scented hair conditioner was enough for me. Do not despair!
Maybe I should try Lush Lust again. It has such great reviews. I could have been too hasty in my testing.
I actually don’t like wearing the perfume as I find gind it too overwhelming but I bought conditioner from someone who makes Lush dupes and will scent body products. The residual smell left after I rinse is divine though.
I am trying to focus on other smells around me now. I am patiently waiting and I hope I do not take too long to get back to my fumes 🙂
Jt’s a strange thing to have 40+ bottles of perfume, decants and samples for summer alone and none seem to appeal.
I understand you. I look at every single bottle, decant, sample and none moves me. Depressing but true 🙁
But I will definitely spray on something for the Friday community project 🙂
I have the same experience now and then. It’s best to listen to yourself rather than forcing yourself to wear something out of guilt. (“I own all this perfume, I should be wearing it.”)
That is the feeling. That they are all sitting there wasted. I will probably give some love to the body lotions and oils, but I still will wait a couple to days to reach them.
I have had a similar summer.
First, I don’t like summer or heat or sweating. Saudi Arabia did me in.
Second I don’t like beachy scents and there are none in my collection/home/desires.
Third, my fragrance choices have been muted since m mom died 5 months ago now.
I mostly go for Parfum Satori, or box of eels except for one week where I sprayed Chinatown with abandon.
Some days have been scentless. I’m sure the mojo will return.
I know that the fact that I have been going thru some personal and work issues this year might be also affecting my enthusiasm for perfumes. The heat also sometimes makes me feel exhausted to wear anything. I will get back to them with all my energy and love once I overcome this apathy 🙂
I have definitely gone through that at times.
Interesting that many of you have gone thru the same thing. It feels good that I can be understood!
SOTD: Early Nathalie with Lalique’s Amethyst
Drinking: Cold brew coffee with extra ice-cubes!
I really want one of those “Nitro-cold brew” coffee servers in my kitchen (if there even is a domestic version). The coffee stays deliciously cold for sooo long.
Need.
I’m drinking cold brew today too. Good stuff!
I’m sipping some homemade cold brew myself right now! I looked around online to see if there were any nitro kits for home use, and there appear to be some if you’re willing to shell out around $200. Which I might be, although I’m sure if I did my boyfriend would think I’d gone completely insane…
Why doesn’t Starbucks make coffee ice cubes, that’s what I want to know.
SOTD is Mancera “Wild Rose Oud”.
Top: bergamot and lemon;
Mid: rose, jasmine and patchouli;
Base: amber, musk, oud and vanilla.
“De gustibus non est disputandum”. Personally, if someone had the effrontery to demand $995 for that hideous contraption of tin and wire, I’d wrap it around their ears and set fire to them. (Reminder to self: never show Robin pictures of my Edwardian home, for fear of her mid-century modern derision). :^D
Oh, on the contrary. There aren’t really all that many styles of furniture that I do not love, in fact, I would just say that I love furniture. Despite that, I am not a collector and my own house is a complete mish-mash — and it is definitely not done in mid century modern.
I just love your way with words, and descriptions. You crack me up!
Ha! Join you in disliking the tea gurney.
LOL! 😀
Today I didn’t forget to put my perfume on, ha!
I’m wearing Guerlain Lui & feeling rather glorious surrounded by it’s gently scented aura. I really like this perfume, might need to seek for some more as I only have a sample at the moment.
Hope everyone is having a good day. Here it’s raining since late afternoon yesterday. And it’s only 16*C.
PS. Now I have the idea for Friday project!
I just read your excellent review of Lui!
Thank you Suzy, glad you liked it
I really am impressed with your review.
Covered all aspects, and was concise and focused.
Applause.
Now Guerlain needs to bring it to America….
Can you help them get their sh!t together, Lucasai?
😉
Thanks a lot for your compliment, Bear. I don’t like to overuse words, so most of my reviews are like that I think.
As far as I know Lui will go into wider distribution in September. So far it’s only available at their Paris boutique I think. Oh, I’d love to! 😉
I’m wearing Miroir des Voluptes, the first of my four Nathalie options.
SOTD: Prada Infusion fleur d’oranger. Perfect for the hot and humid week but short lived. Lovely orange juicy note mid-way…too fleeting.
Husband off to Geneva in a few weeks – anyone knows where he can pick up some tauer and/or vero perfumes while there? It’s a business trip so he can’t travel out anywhere else in Switzerland. 🙁
Reporting from Switzerland : Geneva is tricky, I didn’t find any shops with Tauer and Kern there, Zurich would be different! Tip for Geneva: Theodora, you might want to check out their webpage and see if there are other brands you might be interested in.
Thanks, Bee! Will check that out. (Slightly belated thanks, sorry. Am on the other side of the world!)
L’Ambre des Merveilles for me today. Do not love it as much as the original, BUT I think this would be even better in October.
it would be a great fall scent
Agree with that part — it is better in cool weather.
I think L’Ambre is my favorite of this line, although I like them all (besides the new bleu). You smell wonderful!
SOTD = ELPC Tuberose Gardenia. When I first “fell down the rabbit hole” I was obsessed with tuberose, but then I really cooled off on it and wasn’t interested for a few years. Now I am suddenly fully obsessed with tuberose again.
I think that is normal, my tuberose love also has its ups and downs!
I’m glad my love for it came back!
I’m not a huge tuberose fan but really adore a few exceptions.
I love the scent of tuberose, but I rarely want to smell like tuberose, oddly. I feel the same way about gardenia. So, today I’d apparently want to follow you around, but not borrow your perfume. 🙂
Tuberose is not an easy note for me to wear. Very few scents I really like.
SOTD is Cristalle EDP, which is just perfect today.
that is a winter scent for me
No kidding?! I’ve never tried it in winter but I should!
It was always a winter scent for me as well because the vintage version that I wore from the 1970s to 1980s was in its oakmoss glory and had some heft to it…the current rendition is more about the citrus and definitely summer-y
Always perfect and lovely!
I planned to try Meliora (Lorson) today, but because of my head cold I chose CdG Blue Cedrat (Feisthauer). I do not trust my sense of smell today, so I’d rather wear something I know instead of an unknown scent.
(It’s around 30 °C/86 °F and I have to take hot drinks. Ugh.)
So sorry, do get better!
Thanks, Robin.
Ugh, colds in the summer heat are truly awful. I hope you recover quickly, Glannys!
Thank you!
Hope you feel better! I drink hot coffee even when it’s in the 90s! Supposed to help cool you down by making you sweat (I just don’t like iced coffee).
Thanks! I like my coffee warm on a hot day.
But I stick to hot tea with lemon and/or ginger when I have a cold.
Feel better soon!
Thank you, perfumelover67. I hope I will. 🙂
Bletch! Such a bummer to be stuck with a cold at this time of year.
Gearing up for another scorcher here in CO today, and I easily reached for what is becoming a go-to scent this summer, DSH Perfume’s Divine Gardens. I had sampled this one a few times at Dawn’s studio, but had somehow not given it enough attention until recently, when I pulled out a sample vial I’d taken home with me, and WOW…bolt of lightning! Within days, I had my very own bottle, and I’m going through it rapidly. This has quickly become an absolute HG for me. I wore it six days in a row last week, which must be a record for me, given the size of my collection and my general ADD tendencies, especially when it comes to perfume, but it is so absolutely lovely that I find myself reaching for it constantly.
This is a classic, effortless perfume that is beautiful in the heat, but would also work well in cooler months. It’s a floral, but it’s a greener floral that even a floral-phobe could love. The notes are quite unusual, and not the floral overload that you might expect of a fragrance of this name. Light jasmines, muguet (normally a no-go note for me), rose otto, orris, tagettes, and violette are beautifully balanced by green notes of tomato leaf (tomato leaf lovers, rejoice in this fragrance!), fir, basil, spearmint and white thyme, touched lightly by traces of mandarin, and smoothed with a base of soft sandalwood and vetiver. The effect is one of perfect balance between clean green and floral. The lasting power is excellent, with moderate sillage. It literally brings a smile to my face as I catch wisps of it throughout the work day.
I make no bones about the fact that DSH is my absolute favorite nose; I have more than 35 of her fragrances in my collection, many of which are, to me, HGs in their genres. Divine Gardens is right up there as my absolute favorite green floral, and if this genre appeals to you, I would urge you to sample this perfect gem.
Uh oh….green floral is hard to resist for me. My first love when I started sniffing any scents. I love that it brings a smile to your face.
Wow, the people at DSH should hire you for their marketing group! Unfortunately, living outside the USA makes it more difficult to obtain these scents.
Thank you for the great review. As Bee pointed out, DSH scents are hard to obtain outside the USA, which is a pity. This scent sounds gorgeous.
I’m having a love affair with Dawn’s scents lately too.
Sampling datura blanche (Keiko Mecheri), a pretty flowery-creamy scent, that stays very close to the skin, I keep thinking it could be the scent of a luxurious body butter, which I would be happy to use, more than as a perfume.
I don’t remember it as well as I should, just that I preferred the Serge.
Commando for now. My husband decided his birthday was an occasion to share…his cold, that is. His is a wicked cough, mine is just stuffiness right now. I did wear a Fiori di Capri again last night when we met some friends for dinner in Little Italy. It’s funny…every time I wear that my husband asks what I sprayed on. He notices it and likes it.
Oh no, you’re twins with Glannys (see above)! Hope you’ll avoid the wicked cough.
Yuck. I feel like I might be coming down with a friend’s cold I was exposed to on Saturday. Hope you feel better.
Speedy recovery to us all. Friends, family – they do share. I caught my cold from my mother. Sneezing, running nose, sore throat…
I hope you and your husband feel better soon!
Summer birthday colds are the WORST! Get well ASAP!
Taking advantage of the cooler weather here with Chanel no 22. Just a smidge.
I like the tea cart but an Ikea label and price tag seem more apt for a little bit of metal and some glass, IMHO.
I am loving the weather today..so nice to run around with the babies in the cooler temperatures
I am enjoying it but it feels a little disorienting for some reason.
I am feeling a little weirded out and disoriented by the weather today, too.
I hear you: at first I thought it WAS from Ikea and I immediately tried to figure out how I could use one!
Sorry to have your dreams shattered ????
Open windows! No AC! Total joy.
I’m on the ground floor so my windows only open about 2 inches ???? But less AC use is nice.
Downside is road work jack hammer and some form of drill going on out there. Not so much city noise as suburban outside housework noise.
Ah, then here you go:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70334057/
You could buy 10 of them for the price of the Mategot.
(And I have 4 of of the Raskog carts, although they’re not really tea trolleys.)
Oh! I like the Raskog. We have a tiny kitchen with little storage space so that might be handy for the things that don’t fit in the shallow drawers we have.
I have a turquoise one–it looks like that isn’t an option anymore–substituting for non-existing storage in my bathroom.
I tried to get one and failed. Some countries still have them though. I have the dark grey and beige.
It is the best in person, if it ever turns up again–I tell myself it looks both medicinal and 50s, which are bathroom-appropriate.
Windows full open at home. However, we are freezing at work as usual. I wish the temperatures could stay like this for the rest of summer. You smell great in Chanel 22. Is it the EdT or the EdP?
Thank you! I could do a smidge warmer but I orefer it to 90s and humid. It almost feels like Fall today. The 22 is the EDT though I sampled the EDP and I can’t tell the difference between the 2.
It’s so cool and gray out – all I wanna do is stay home and cuddle up under a blanket with my book! So, as motivation to get off my butt and go to work, I’m treating myself to Urban Decay Go Naked perfume oil. This is a recent acquisition, which I bought within about 10 minutes of trying it on. It was a no-brainer purchase because the notes list includes basically everything I’ve been craving this summer:
Top: bergamot, petitgrain, mandarin orange, lemon, and sea salt
Middle: neroli and orange blossom
Base: lavender, musk, and jasmine
It dries down into a subtle, beachy skin musk. Perfect.
I’ve been waiting for this to come to the stores to try it.
I bought a rollerball, and there is a note in it that smells so off on my skin. 🙁
Sounds nice, I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m in Sephora! Beachy skin musk does sound perfect.
Wearing LAP Passage d’Enfer in “excessive heat warning” weather. I bought this in the winter and therefore thought of it as a winter perfume. Surprise: it smells great in the summer! The frankincense is more prominent in the heat.
This could be one of those year-round perfumes for me: an excellent investment 😉
I fell in love with this last fall and got a bottle for Christmas. I’ve also found that it works well year-round here in the desert. My favorite lily!
Twins! I agree, this is one that works year-round.
I feel the same way – have a decant of this, and have enjoyed it frequently as a break from the citrus based EDTs I usually go to.
Good morning Y’all!
Up to my eyeballs in the end-of-the-month chart reviews and other reports, so wearing Chanel No 5 EdT. This is my professional/no nonsense/get it done scent for work (and I LOVE it)…..
Let’s do this! 🙂
Oh yes, a great choice for the job at hand. But then, really, it’s perfect for most any day.
Good Luck
Cheers! You smell gorgeous!
You smell great, and very ‘in charge’. Good luck today!
Another cool, cloudy day. I’ve been blindly grabbing samples from my Olfactic box subscription and spraying them on only to look at what I put on afterwards. Today I am wearing The Gold by The Sum. Nicely spicy!
That’s brave!
Doing the first Nathalie scent: Gardénia Pétale. Lovely, although gardenia is not my favourite white floral.
I have a decant of that! Didn’t know it was a Nathalie so thanks for that. It is lovely.
I forget which Nathalie did it.
My favourite Nathalie song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TilQ8BIHisw
That’s a pretty one.
Triple strength coffee.
Extra long workout.
Chance Chanel EDT.
huh
Vetiver, grapefruit, jasmine, and a bit of patchouli.
Not really pleasant and kinda dull.
Tested Coco Mademoiselle EDP last week. OK…. but about 5 hours on I was surrounded by the aroma of camphor/mothballs.
Trying to find the olfactory source- of course it was me.
The patchouli in CM can make me a mobile moth repellant.
Have perfume, will travel……
Competitive rates…..
LOLOLOL. 😉
Carpe Diem. Peace.
mothballs! HA!
Ha! Mobile mothball hanger!
And yes, I thought Chance very dull indeed. I know that the marketing seems to be towards younger women and possibly Japanese/East Asian women (where softer, more delicate scents are more in style) but I thought it was meh. Would rather splash on 4711 or Jean Nate instead.
Agreeing with you on Chanel Chance, Bear. Very much meh.
Sisley Eau de Soir from a NSTer decant. This is very nice and a candidate for a FB.
I love Eau de Soir but gosh is it pricey!
???? maybe I’ll find a good deal somewhere. It is a pretty fragrance and that’s great you are a fan of it!
Love EdS too. I found a travel size on the bay. I don’t remember what I paid, but it wasn’t bad.
That’s always a good place to start looking and comparing prices.
Feeling a little Lou Lou today. Gorgeous summer day.
You smell amazing! I have not worn Lou Lou in a long time.
You can find the current version at a reasonable price too. It really is lovely.
Love that tea cart – I have an old wooden one inherited from a great aunt that I use as a mini bar.
Used up another sample today – D.S. & Durga’s White Peacock Lily. Worth a sniff if anyone is in the market for a lily, but I’m set with Passage d’Enfer.
I like carts, and furniture on casters even if I’m never going to move it. I don’t know why they don’t do furniture on wheels as much as they used to.
Mine has two casters and two large decorative wooden wheels, which can handle only very slow rolling. Luckily it doesn’t get moved very often. I’ve often wished for a sofa with locking casters – so much easier to clean under!
Cloudy with a chance of rain. Its cold for time of year.
The theme for friday helped me to make a quick decision about what perfume to wear. Dining out (again) this evening.
Two small spritzes of Encre Noire!
I just blind bought a large sample of EN, hoping for the best!
I have a 50 ml bottle, no regrets. Its a versatile vetiver I wear year round, though to me it has a a slightly autumnal feel to it.
Or like the warming of trees and shrubbery after a rain storm in summer.
Lots of prople compare it to Sycomore, but Sycomore (edt) is more dry and smokier to me. Also love and have that one though!
*People!!! Not prople (dont even think thats a word)… Damn those small smartphone keyboards!
Hello All! Happy Tuesday!
1) SOTD: Rose Jam showergel followed by Molinard’s Jasmin. It’s gonna be a scorcha today- 90F.
2) I have seen that vintage trolley on sale in vintage shops for about $150 (lots of Scandi mid modern in the PNW) Huh!
3) Am looking to see if I buy another property this year. YES- you read that right.A number of rental properties have come up on the market, and I am wondering it is a good idea to invest in one for teh Portland metro market.
good luck!
Fabulous idea! I wish I had he energy to do the same with my swamp home.
If it was a “real” Mategot, they were crazy. If it was a copy, that’s probably what it’s worth.
Not sure buying the new Gubi one is worth $999 either, since not sure it will keep its value. Not saying it won’t, saying I don’t know.
La Maroc Pour Elle…on my skin it is ALL about the lavender and reminds me a bit of Voyage (which was also about lavender)
Huh, for me it is all patchouli-rose fancy hippy!
It smells of lavender absolute to my nose. Lavender absolute is more muted and creamier…less herbal and fresh in comparison to lavender essential oil…and I love it as a perfume unto itself. For some reason my wonky skin is taking hold of it and really amps it up…but I do get the patch vibe too. I really like it, but then again I am a hippy chic 🙂
http://www.edenbotanicals.com/products/essential-oils-pure-therapeutic-grade/absolutes/lavender-absolute.html
I have worn it straight out the bottle as perfume…definitely sweeter and creamier….and the dry down of LMPE smells just like it to my nose.
I didn’t know LMPE had lavender. I get the same scent as jjlook.
yes, according to fragrantica it is listed as a note. I usually wear the perfume first and then research the notes and then laugh at how off my nose usually is!
I get the same as jjlook and Petunia for Le Maroc, a gorgeous floral patchouli.
LOL! I keep telling y’all I have wonky skin/nose 🙂
Wearing Mito EDP today
I need a favourite to tackle a long day
Hope it’s working!
Yesterday, I sprayed on Lyric instead of Deneuve. Now I am really in Deneuve today.
Yowza, that’s a seriously stylish and expensive tea trolley! I can see that with artistically place perfume bottles used as a focal point the ante-chamber of my boudoir ????
Binge watched season three of Grantchester last night and didn’t sleep until about 2am. No spin class. I chickened out. But I did take my four legged bestie on a long hike that ended at the dog park, so she is quite thoroughly pooped out. As for me, aprés shower, I will blast myself with the stunning Corsica Furiosa. All day I will be getting wonderful wafts of myself and smiling my secret little smile ????
I am on episode 3, I think? I stayed up very late watching Twin Peaks on Sunday and have to start making myself get to bed earlier!
I’ve been meaning to check that series out. James Norton is reason enough for me to watch.????
Yes indeed!! He’s a fine specimen. He does a fantastic job playing a very human vicar- doubt of self and Religion, which conflicts with his deep belief in God and human goodness. His wobbly self confidence is specifically something I can identify with.
Iris Ukiyoe this morning. This smells like bug spray on me. Into the swapmeet pile it goes!
Went to the grocery store yesterday and bought some Not Your Father’s Root Beer. Somehow it escaped me that it is actual beer that has been flavored to taste like root beer. I don’t like beer. The first sip had a distinct beery aftertaste but as I drank more, 1) the aftertaste became less prominent and 2) I didn’t care. 🙂
Ha! That’s exactly how it captured me too! I don’t like beer (or really anything that tastes of alcohol). I had my first bottle with cheeseburger hot off the outdoor grill, dressed to the hilt, with a side of baked beans and my mouth was so HAPPY!! Some nice people I met camping fed me the above meal, we had a very nice evening around the campfire so now when I have a bottle, that whole scene replays in my head. Easy, uncomplicated, and relaxed.i love it when that happens!
What a happy memory! I’m going to look for that “root beer”. Ha as kids we would always order root beer without the “root”. Today I saw Shiner Strawberry Blonde. Their Blonde beer is great.
I’m a fan of most of Shiner beers. Have you tried the Oktoberfest? I sampled it at the HEB this weekend, and it was marvy. We needed NO MORE BEER, but I brought home a six pack anyway.
Yes! And Cheer Beer!
That one is not bad. I was wary at first because I had tried Abita’s strawberry beer and didn’t like it. But Shiner’s is pretty good.
I think my skin is stress-eating perfume the way I would like to be stress-eating a hot fudge sundae. I’m wearing the gorgeous De Profundis, courtesy of the generous flopper. When I wore it this weekend, it lasted for hours. Today, after two hours, it’s all but gone. I really need to have more back-up perfumes in my purse.
Robin, how do you like Curious? We tried all of the compose notes, and then all the top, medium and base combined together. Individual components smelled better than the final product (at least to my peasant nose).
I am in sandalwood heaven today. Wearing a real mysore sandalwood attar and wondering if I would ever buy another perfume again – this smells so good!!!!
me too, very curious about Curious.
Where, pray tell, did you find the sandalwood attar? 🙂
Kafka did a review on this brand feel-oud. He just released a new batch of sandalwood attar and it is amazing. It is not cheap but a drop lasted me for at least 10 hours
Thank you, Clarissa. ????
Curious is not instant love, in fact, been trying to make up my mind about it. Might be I’m going to like it better in summer? Might be that it is not me. Either say, thinking it’s not one of her more “accessible” scents? (oops…meant “like it better in winter”.)
Trying out Miu Miu today after reading EauMG’s review yesterday. It’s nice for a mainstream! Good lily of the valley note, neither a shrinking violet nor too in-your-face, and different enough from the other Sephora fodder scents to stand out a little. I like it although it’s probably not a fb for me.
I enjoyed that review. Miu Miu sounds like a lovely LotV scent. I could enjoy it for the pretty bottle alone, but I’m not going there. 😉
Yes, that review made me feel curious, too. It’s good to sniff things even if you don’t want to buy them, just to have a reference point.
I felt the same about Miu Miu, definitely “nice” but not a full bottle.
A no-brainer for sure!
Its very pretty 🙂
Wearing Iris Fauve for my real first day on the job.
So far, so good. My manager has revealed some of the drama and incompetencies between departments.
Drama and incompetency in th workplace, you say? Imagine that… ????
Congrats on the real first day on the job!
I’ve never yet had a job where there wasn’t drama. I tell myself that’s why The Office lasted nine seasons, lol.
LOL!
Everyday that I work, I erect The Drama Forcefield in an effort to immunize myself against that energy sucking monster! Congrats on your new job????
I admire your wry sense of humor about it all!
Congrats! Wish you the best!
Hope you have a great day! Positive thoughts heading your way!
Go get ’em! At least your boss gave you fair warning.
Tea-scent for Tuesday = Ahhhh-ssam of India.
Lemony and refreshing, it makes me say ahhhh every time. Have a lovely day, NST!
Delicious!!! enjoy those little elephants 🙂
The A of I elephants really are adorable.
Fabulous!
thanks 😉
I must try this!
If you can find a retailer that has testers it really is worth the time to try Assam of India and a variety of Berdoues fragrances.
Another little sample to use up, and not a bad match for today–le labo limette…
Also picked up a few samples this week out in the wild–have heard people here talk about Allure Homme Sport Edition Blanche (whew) and thought it was discontinued–or maybe I misremembered reformulated? But I got a little sample, and of Tom For Positano, which is too much money, but a free sample is just the right price for a delightful orange blossom.
House twins! How is Limette? It’s a city exclusive?
Piping in late to say that it’s nice, but not love. I got a sample last year when they had the exclusives at our Nordstrom’s, but I wouldn’t go to any stress to get another, unlike tuberuse 40, which might be my favourite orange blossom.
I had to get a passport photo yesterday and boy was I rattled when I saw the result. Who is that woman with greyish hair, thin lips and no jaw? Death mask blank stare. Me? Aaaaaarrrrgggh. Thought I’d cheer myself up by going to my off-site perfume storage but got sprayed with a sample of Coach which just made things worse. I don’t even have an overseas trip planned…so there’s not a silver lining in all this. Worse, in ten years time I will glance at this awful photo and think, ‘ i looked okay back then…compared to now.’ Wearing Lale this morning and will go for a nice long walk in the mud and trees and bring a bit of joy back into my day. Love the tea tray.
Yeah, I really don’t get those people who are selfie crazy. When I see a photo of myself, I just cringe in HORROR! A walk always works miracles, enjoy!
It’s weird isn’t it?, maybe today’s generation has more confidence? They don’t seem to care if they take a bad picture.
Oh we definitely care! All the instagram ones are practiced poses and the silly ones are just for immediate friends who already know that you’re not a morning person.
There’s an entire cottage industry on how to make your selfies look fantastic because you don’t want a future employer to judge you badly for it, it’s honestly quite stressful.
We probably should do a book of selfies to shake things up. Women with uncombed hair, mud on their trousers, squinting at the sun and grinning.
I don’t get it either. The problem I have with pictures of myself is that they look like me. 😛
I recently renewed my drivers license and had the same thought about my picture.
Same here. I swear that the DMV tries their hardest to take an unflattering photo.
Our DMVs are so crowded, that after the long wait, people are absolutely fuming. There’s no hope for a decent picture!
But I bet when you were in your 20s and 30s you felt insecure, but now would look back and think ‘wow, I was gorgeous then’? The same mechanism will be at work. Also, passport photos – even my rather handsome under-12 year old boys look criminal in theirs. It’s those booths…
I take comfort in the thought that I may have been a tapeworm in a previous life so this is definitely a step up…even though I still have no waist.
My very handsome (yes, I realize I’m his mother but still lol) 17 year old son just got his passport a few weeks ago and looks like a straight up convict in his haha.
Ha ha, yes my 16 year old just got hers recently too and it looks like a mugshot! My husband took her and when I saw the picture I couldn’t help but laugh. “They told me not to smile.” She said. “Don’t worry, your eyebrows still look great,” I told her.????
Selfies or no selfies, I never like the way I look in any pictures. (sigh!)

this ought to cheer you up!
SOTD is Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk. Unlike a few of you out there, I love beach scents especially in the Summer. as I never have enough money to take a trip somewhere, wearing beachy scents is a small escape.
You smell very nice. At least that’s what I heard from both my husband and the woman next to me on the subway after I spritzed in Sephora. And I rarely get compliments. Can’t go wrong with beachy in the summer.
I too love beach scents in the summer. You smell great.
I adore beach scents. I cannot live without them!
SOTD?
Wearing Benefit’s Bathina body oil, which was a free gift with purchase but I still cannot throw it out… and so needed something equally violently feminine to wear as a perfume to go with it—and remembered the Dame Honeysuckle decant I was given over the weekend.
Bathina + Honeysuckle=one of those women who tan beautifully and can wear tank tops into their 70s.
I actually smell okay, I think… just not like me.
I’m sure you smell great.. I just liked the phrase “violently feminine”. 😀
Me too, I’m probably going to start saying that all the time now.
Whew! It is beastly out there, hot and muggy. Just in from replanting some things for the patio and now I’m relaxing in Caligna.
I drug out my old box of essential oils, and discovered a spray bottle of dry oil, Ahava mandarin and cedarwood. It’s about 3/4 full, and smells fine, as it was in suspended animation in the fridge. Happy find!
That dry oil sounds wonderful.
It is nice. Not terribly moisturizing, but ok for summer.
Shalimar EDT
Gorgeous!
You smell divine.
Hot Fudge Sundae Day. Good grief, that sounds good. Oh man, I’m glad that (a) I ate a filling lunch and (b) I’m not near a DQ right now!
SOTD is Calvin Klein Obsessed, from a magazine sample. I don’t know how it might differ if actually sprayed on, but as it is it reminds me of one of the older FCUK scents.
How is it?! I’m looking forward to trying it, it hasn’t arrived at my little Macy’s yet.????
SOTD = another try of Miss Dior Cherie EdP, from the sample stash. Today I did notice a caramel corn note right after spraying. Not quite the thing for today’s weather, though. But not annoying enough to scrub off either.
I went with Elixir des Merveilles today. Finally pretty much used up a travel spray that a kind fellow NST-er gave me some time ago. It took me a long time to use even that amount up, so I’ll give it a while and see if I miss it enough to need more.
Le Labo Bergamote 22 again. If I had to pick one scent to spend the rest of the summer in, this would be it.
So late to the party, Happy Hump Day Eve all!
Quite refreshing!
Hermès Galop today. Something bracing to carry me through a cool damp morning and a work day where I’m nit feeling it.
I wore Hermes Apres la Mousson from my new travel bottle on this hot day. This one makes such a cute travel size with the elephant on the front of the box and the motif that runs all around the bottom.
