Happy Fourth of July! (If you're wondering what people in the US do on the Fourth of July, Reuters explains: Americans celebrate July 4 with leisure and gluttony.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I’m wearing a light spray of Perfumer H Orange Leaf, again.
Reminder: on 7/7 we're doing Sports Friday...wear a sports scent! If you just can't go there, wear the sort of fragrance you think one might actually wear while doing something sporty.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Fitz And Floyd Statue Of Liberty Mini Teapot is about $10 on Amazon.
SL Rousse, which I wore on a whim: today should be too hot for a spicy oriental but Rousse has a strangely cool quality, like incense burning in a catacomb or an unlit menthol cigarette.
I love your description! 🙂
Happy 4th, NSTers! Hope vacation is fab, Robin. Alas, SOTD will be the tenacious but effective Eau de Cutters. There’s a party next door that sounds like it’s cookin’:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq2V4Yxto58
It is wonderful so far, thank you! Cutters works 🙂
Happy 4th folks!
Surfing (the sample/decant sea) in Absolute Pour le Soir. I had made the faulty assumption that this was a cold weather /winter scent. In the heat of July it blooms on my scent eating skin like soft creamy sweet honey and all the sex/skank that it presented in the winter is no longer there.
That sounds lovely!
Happy 4th of July from a Polish friend.
Another crisp summer day today. There was some occasional rain too.
I’m wearing Sweet William from Carner Barcelona today as I’m trying to come up with a blog birthday giveaway theme.
Thanks, Lucas. Home of Kosciuszko! World’s 2nd oldest Constitution! (I’ve always been aware of a particularly close friendship between Poland and the US, is what I’m trying to say.)
This warm humid day will probably call for VETTIVERU. Cheers, all.
Dziekuję! In honor of you I had bigos and zurek for dinner yesterday ???? My neighborhood was historically mostly Polish so still plenty of Polish restsurants and bakeries. I was happy to see a Polish clothing chain(Greenpoint) named after my neighborhood when I visited Krakow!
Happy 4th of July. I am wearing TDC Sel de Vetiver. Watching Wimbledon in the morning, couple of hours by the pool later and back home early evening to watch fireworks from our window. There is a display at the park 2 blocks away from us, so every year we enjoy them with a glass of wine.
Have a nice and restful day everyone!
That sounds like the perfect way to enjoy fireworks! And I love Sel de Vetiver – you smell great!
Thank you Meg O. Have a wonderful day! 🙂
Oh, nice that there’s fireworks near you. And from the comfort of your own home is even better. We had an apartment a blick from the east river and used to be able to watch from the roof. That was nice. Enjoy your day!
Thank you! I thought Macy’s had fireworks in the East River this year. 2 years ago we went to Long Island City and it was really beautiful! The ones near us are very nice and we do not have to be bothered with the crowds. Enjoy and have a nice day today!
They do, but we can’t get to the roof in this apartment. Our old building here now has its view obstructed by some monstrous high rise luxury building that’s gone up on the waterfront. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we first lived here in 2000. LIC is a great place for viewing.
The views in Greenpoint and LIC have been affected by all those new high rise luxury buildings. I work in LIC and love to see all the wonderful transformation in the area. We also lost the beautiful view from our office building.
Wishing all a happy 4th!! SOTD is Mona di Orio Musc, sent to me from a perfume angel. Oh I love this so much – thankfully there’s the discount Twisted Lily is offering!
That’s good stuff.
Happy 4th everyone! The holiday where we Americans like to make a lot of noise and blow stuff up. I love it. Unfortunately, can’t do that in the city, so a picnic may be in order. And hopefully later this evening watch the professionals handle the explosions.
But…we start the day with the traditional viewing of The Tour. I don’t think I have a scent that smells of road, grass, Lycra and sweat. (And I don’t really consider that a gap…) So, we will just go with green and a celebration with Le Temps d’une Fete. Partly as a thank you to the French for their crucial role in our independence. Merci!
I think my husband has spent much of this week watching The Tour! TduF is perfect.
I’m wearing Iris Nobile (edp) which I think would be great when playing croquet.
Yes, definitely good for croquet!
I’m relaxing for a few minutes before cleaning the house to get ready for company. In honor of the 4th, my day will be scented with American perfumes. I’m currently wearing Yesterday Haze by Imaginary Authors and will wear Arielle Shoshana’s gorgeous scent after my shower.
Have a safe, happy and fun celebration (if you are celebrating today). If today is just a regular day for you, have a fantastic Tuesday!
My day was scented with bbq, which is how I like my 4th 🙂
SotD is Vetiver Extraordinaire
A bit lineair on my skin, but nevertheless, a great scent.
For those celebrating The 4th: have a happy independence day.
I’ve just sampled VE too, and was thinking the same thing. I don’t think I will be buying a bottle, but it’s very nice.
On the theme of sports and perfume, there is a Nicholai Parfums Createur that was originally named Balle de Match, the French term for a match point in tennis. It’s now called Eau de Sport.
In her 2006 review, Robin recounted:
“Balle de Match is the fragrance that I credit (or blame, as the case may be) with starting me on the path to perfume addiction. Looking for a new citrus scent back in the fall of 2003, I wandered innocently into the fragrance forum at Makeup Alley. My first big discovery was that you could order samples online. How convenient! My second big discovery was that getting a handful of new fragrance samples in the mail every so often was really rather fun. After testing several such handfuls, Balle de Match took honors as my first full bottle of niche fragrance.”
The rest is history. Thank you, Balle de Match, for Now Smell This!
https://nstperfume.com/2006/04/17/balle-de-match-by-parfums-de-nicolai-with-an-aside-on-perfume-addiction/
Thanks, nozknoz, for sharing that bit of important NST history. 🙂
My pleasure, tiffanie. I wonder if Robin felt subconsciously drawn to the sports fragrance poll idea? 🙂
I’ve been considering Balle de Match for this week as well. It’s a great fragrance and I distinctly remember that review. I blame Robin and Victoria (Boisdejasmin) for my perfume addiction 🙂
Or credit! 🙂
Yes, to be honest, I came upon NST while searching for information on probably more than one perfume, and then NST and The Guide played a role similar to MUA for Robin. There are definitely bottles on my shelves owing to Bois de Jasmin, too.
And I thought I ought to pack it to wear on Friday, but then decided I did not want to bring any full bottles, and too busy to decant. So I haven’t any with me!
The other funny thing is that if it had been called Eau de Sport to begin with, I probably never would have tried it.
Balle de Match was a better name for sure.
Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil and loving it.
Reuters’ summary of the day in the U.S. seems a bit harsh – yes, leisure, I started the day with a run. Would attend fireworks but packing for our move and the moving truck comes FRIDAY ACKKKKK. I will go to a picnic briefly but won’t be gluttonous. Isn’t food a part of every country’s holidays?
Anyway, happy 4th to my fellow U.S. perfumistas and happy Tuesday to everyone else!
I thought it was a bit harsh also….or at least unnecessarily snarky. One of my favorite things is small/medium town parades. And, yes, pancake breakfasts at the local fire house.
Ditto this. It seems America was historically described as a country of hard working, mostly honest people who looked out for their neighbors as well as thier country. Now it’s very in style to bash America and Americans. Not to get political, as the truth is always somewhere in the middle. But I’m really TIRED of all negativity. All countries have an unpleasant dirty underbelly. Pretty sure there is no Utopia anywhere.
Agreeing with you.
You reminded me how much I loved the little neighborhood parades we had when I was a girl. It was so exciting to put red, white, and blue streamers though our bicycle tires and ride around. Potluck barbecues, and sparklers. I have to call my brother now, and reminisce.
That’s what I love. Kids on bikes and trikes!
Sooo since when is a (national) feast NOT about relaxing and doing fun stuff with loves ones and stuffing yourself with all kinds of good and delicious foods? 🙂
Without leisure and gluttony there is no celebration/party, duh.
So yeah, I agree with you on the Reuters article!
My son-in-law told me that the theme of every Jewish holiday was “They tried to kill us, we survived, let’s eat.” That’s a bit of an oversimplification (yeah, just a bit), but I think that is often the theme for every celebration if you dig deep enough.
Ha! So true ????
Hahahah 😀
Well I guess thats also why we started to celebrate our birthday? “Yay, another year not killed by disease/famine/ storm/ wild animals/ war etc. Lets have cake” 😉
Exactly!
🙂
Gluttony? That’s Thanksgiving, not 4th of July! 😉 Seriously, my 4th of July is usually a pretty healthy eating day: all those wonderful summer fruits and vegetables (mmm…garden fresh tomatoes, corn on the cob, blueberries and raspberries – so good).
My leisure will be sitting inside reading (because heat, humidity, and mosquitoes are in abundance) or hanging out by the pool. Then I’ll do my volunteer stint at the shelter – employees are off today, so volunteers are cleaning, feeding and walking animals.
There will be a parade in the early evening with the kids riding their decorated bikes and the high school band marching. Fireworks to follow. That’s a pretty standard 4th of July evening in medium/small town US. Big town or small, I hope my fellow Americans enjoy the day!
What a great day and perfect celebration!
Admittedly it’s never been my favorite holiday as the primary theme seems to be getting trashed then hitting the road in one’s car. So I usually stay in, as I’m doing today.
I probably ate more today than I do on Thanksgiving. I had BBQ for breakfast and then BBQ again for dinner. I did not drink and drive, though.
I’m having leftover pie for breakfast! Now that’s festive. 🙂
Both food and leisure are a part of most holidays worldwide, no? Though we Americans have a way of doing both to excess, so maybe that’s what they’re getting at.
Today it’s vintage ‘Égoïste’ by CHANEL from May 1991. The top notes are sort of gone and it is extremely animalic. Despite this the drydown is so beautiful and deep – the sandlewood is spectacular. I will say that the most recent reformulation is really good, too – not packing so much punch but it is extremely well done and I love wearing that version as well.
I’ve never smelled the vintage but it sounds fabulous. I have a decant of the more current version and do think it’s great, too.
Good to know that current Egoiste is fairing well, it’s been on my list for awhile. Thanks!
You must smell great!
I am wearing Égoïste as well, but from a 2014 bottle; not vintage and neither the latest version.
Celebrating the 4th with some “modern American perfumery”: Dame’s Gardenia soliflore.
Perfect!
Surprisingly I don’t have to work today. I am enjoying the forth by being very lazy. I plan on going through my unloved perfume bottles to give to a friend. Testing from my sample vase today (I don’t have enough to qualify for a sea, pond, or even sink, lol). Anyway trying Good girl gone bad. It is reminding me of JHaG Romantina. Which I like very much, but hasn’t held my interest. Same as this one. Good thing since it is so pricey. Happy 4th to all that celebrate!
I always feel incredibly satisfied when I test an expensive perfume and don’t love it- so good to cross one of the long list!
…except when you pay an arm and a leg for a decant, then it’s not so rewarding. 😉
Post yardwork and clean up, filthy and sweaty, showered, and have now spritzed generously with Mazzolari Vetiver courtesy of a kind NSTer.
This is lovely stuff- first a whiff of sweetness, then surprise- a gentle breeze of cool refreshment, morphing into a wonderful cozy warmth. Perfect for a blasting hot and humid day where, during the heat of the day, nothing stirs but insects. Even the bugs drone lazily and halfheartedly at noon time.
I would like to light a candle for the person who invented A/C.
Happy 4th to all who celebrate ????????
Right there with you on A/C, Deva. Wikipedia says it’s Willis Carrier, but Floridians know the debt of gratitude we owe to Dr. John Gorrie: https://fcit.usf.edu/florida/lessons/gorrie/gorrie.htm
“He became convinced cold was a healer.” AMEN, sister! Thanks for that link- I learned something new. My mother would be proud, since she often told me, “If you don’t learn something new each day, you have completely wasted the day.” But then, she also told me I looked like I had been chasing parked trucks…!
I’m in Houston, so will join you in lighting that candle.
Yep, we can be twins in sweaty weather, if not in perfume today ????
We went by a statue in a park in Hartford CT of the man who “pioneered the use of anesthesia in dentistry” or something. I said my thanks!
If I ever come across that statue in Hartford, I will not only light a candle, but leave an offering! ????
Happy 4th to those that celebrate! Will partake in the gluttony with a BBQ in our yard with a small group of friends. Last year we over did it since it was our first year with a yard and it was packed like sardines.
Then a short walk to the East River to watch the fireworks. No perfume yet, but thinking Diptyque Geranium Odorata as it seems to fend off mosquitoes.
Your day sounds fabulous! Enjoy! 🙂
Sounds great, hope it was a great day!
On my third perfume today, L’eu de Chloe, this is my ‘Rose lemonade’ perfume, very pretty and refreshing, and has held up pretty well in the heat today.
I re sampled Le jardin sur Le toit this morning, I like it a lot, but it doesn’t project or last on my scent eating skin. It reminds me of YSL In Love Again. When that had faded I finished my sample of Corsica Furiosa, which I love, but those wonderful green top notes don’t last too long. I might get a discounted bottle if I see one tho.
Happy 4th July to all my NST American friends, Hope u all have a wonderful celebration!
Ah, I’ve got a sample of that Chloe somewhere. Rose lemonade sounds good to me!
Happy 4th of July to all that celebrates. My SOTD is Osmanthus by Dame Perfumery. I can definitely recognize the apricot notes in this one. Absolutely a beautiful scent.
Happy 4th of July/Independence Day to those who celebrate it. Today I’m starting a bit of a break from email and Internet. No email until next Monday, and limited Internet access. “See” you all next week!
SOTD = Tauer Une Rose Vermeille, from the sample stash. It’s the Tauer rose perfume that works for me in summer weather. Very pretty.
Enjoy your time off! Will expect a report back on all the things you got done 😉
Happy 4th to all the US NSTers.
A normal work day in Canada, and I am wearing Chanel No. 18 today.
PSA – if you walk 2 greyhounds in a Canada Day parade in the POURING rain, they will give you the puppy-dog death stare.
😛
????
Hey, at least they have fur, unlike you. No sympathy? 😉
It’s supposed to be warm and dry here, and some folks nearby are already setting off fireworks at 9:30 am. I’ll bring the dog in a little later. Fireworks don’t scare him but they hurt his ears and disturb his very important naps. I’m wearing Bronze Goddess this morning, a sporty scent if your sport is slathering yourself with suntan oil and drinking a Pina Colada by the pool.
Wish I had a pool.
Happy 4th to those who celebrate!
That’s my kind of sporting!
Bronze Goddess and the pool are the perfect sport! 😀
SotM = Arielle Shoshana EdP from my almost empty sample vial. It’s a wonderful perfume, delicious and beautiful. Hats off to all who work hard and follow their dreams, our world needs you!
Yesterday evening was the neighborhood bike parade with a make your own ice cream sundae station at the finish line. Today is for marking the 4th of July with cheeseburgers (ingredients from Costco, that most wonderful/awful of American shopping experiences) and watching the city’s fireworks display. Also we will eat birthday cake for the two July birthday boys in the extended family. I’ll sit on the couch with Dad to watch Angels baseball and wear a bit of Angel muse from a sample.
Hope everyone finds a moment of sweetness and joy in their day.
Your plans of the day sound amazing! Enjoy!
Thanks, flopper! Hope your day has some amazing moments too. 🙂
What a great way to celebrate. Bikes, ice cream, cheeseburgers and baseball!
It is lots of fun, so much that it takes two days! Have a good day, LizzieB 😉
Sounds like a great day!
It was a good one. I hope your 4th went well too. 🙂
SOTD is Essence of Chi “Wood”, the second of five scents based on traditional Chinese elements. Apparently one of them should suit the wearer particularly well.
Top: lemon, grapefruit and cedar;
Mid: bamboo and cabreuva;
Base: sandalwood, oakmoss and guaiac wood.
It reminds me of nothing so much as methylated spirits. So, I think I am safe in saying that I wood not. ;^P
Happy 4th of July y’all. :^D
Good pun XD
So not motivated to go into work today but gotta conjure up a little over $300 for dental work. Funny how a tooth extraction and bone graft can cost so much. Wearing Au Coeur De Desert today.
Ugh, sorry! But I was going to say that’s a bargain. Still can’t get over what we paid to have my son’s wisdom teeth pulled.
You smell marvelous.
SOTD Cedar Atlas. Happy 4th of July to all my American friends. A good day to be proud and celebrate.
SOTD is that all-American classic, White Linen.
White Linen is a classy classic. You smell beautiful.
Good choice! My H and I briefly pondered American perfumes this morning but ended up in Hermes and Guerlain. Vive la America? 😉
🙂
I adore White Linen – such a classic powdery beauty!
I chose an American fragrance today, Dame’s New Musk Man. It, along with Dark Horse, are my favorites of this brand.
Dark Horse is a standout for me, too.
Happy Fourth to those who celebrate!
S(port)OTD = surfing the sample sea (idea stolen from Holly)
I would like to take advantage of the 20% off at Twisted Lily FIREWORKS20. YOU, YOU and YOU, what are YOU waiting for?
Berdoues Vanita Moorea – almost a dupe for … are you ready? Guerlain Mon Precieux Nectar. With the discount, VM comes to $0.64 per mL, vs. $2.26 for MPN (or $1.81 if you get a 20% discount which you can get depending upon store promotions). Since I already have MPN, I don’t need this so money saved (OK, not really, but let’s say money saved to be used for something else).
Berdoues Russkaya Kozha – powdery…OUD? Fragrantica does not list oud but that is what I smell. Pass.
In other news…I tend to read my newspapers in spurts. From the New York Times:
– Forget the ambulance – Call the Drone: “Swedish researchers found that drones launched from a local fire station arrived within about five minutes at the homes of 18 people who had experienced cardiac arrest – almost 17 minutes faster on average than ambulances”
– Tips for Job Interviews:
1. Be authentic
2. Know the workplace culture
3. Be confident
4. Prepare to be on screen
5. Be inquisitive
6. Develop a rapport
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/01/smarter-living/job-interview-tips.html
But how do drones do medical treatment?
Good question! The drone carries a defibrillator and it assumes someone is there to administer it. It won’t help a heart attack which is caused by a blockage whereas cardiac arrest is a disturbance in the electrical rhythm of the heart and can be helped by a defibrillator.
I KNEW you would like the Vanira Moorea and with a decant you won’t be needing a full bottle 🙂 And thanks for the report on the Russkaya Kozha as I have not tried that one yet. Have you gotten to the Oud al Sahrraa decant yet? Ironically enough there is oud in the name and the notes listed but it smells very sweet and balsamic to my wonky nose…not really getting the oud.
Oh, I was wondering about that particular Berdoues- the VANITA one to be clear…I’ve looked to see if they carry Naja-nope. Don’t have Mazzolari Vetiver either. Don’t carry Farmacia Annunziata either! That 20% is a great deal though…
Hey, Deva, Luckyscent has Mazzolari with a 15% off + free shipping code SUMMER15 until July 6. Not to enable or anything…plus I think you should sample Mazzolari Lui. It’s good stuff, too.
???? La la la la! I can’t HEAR you…!
I ordered Désarmant plus some of those Berdoues samples. 🙂
Happy Fourth of July (or just regular old July 4, if you aren’t in the US) to everyone today!
I’ll be going to over to a friend’s for a cookout (am I the only one who uses that term?) and fireworks this evening. I have my contribution (Texas Ranch Beans) simmering away on the stove top, and am about to go out to re-pot some plants. From the sample blowout I received from a lovely NSTer, I have on a dab of Mendittorosa ALFA on one wrist, and on the other… Roja Dove’s Tutti Frutti Sweetie Oud.
Not sure what I’ll wear post-shower — but it won’t be oud, frooty or otherwise! I actually wish I had some Demeter Gingerale — I’d pull it from the fridge every 10 minutes or so and spritz lavishly…
I use the term cookout! It’s perfect. And you’re right, Demeter Gingerale would be perfect, too…
I’m in good company, then. 🙂
Your Zen sounds awfully nice, too!
You’re not the only one who uses that term. I’ve known people from the Midwest and from New Jersey who do. Where are you from originally? On the west coast we generally say “barbeque,” which occasionally causes confusion as we use the same term for barbeque, the southern cuisine.
I grew up in the South, and as you noted, for us the word “barbecue” meant the meat. 🙂 I think we used the term cookout more for the kind of event where you had grilled hamburgers and hot dogs in the back yard…
Exactly.
Everyone doesn’t say cookout? I know people who say barbecue but it’s just wrong! Barbecue is barbecue!????
I thought saying barbecue for the act of grilling was an English thing?
Midwesterner here who also prefers the term “cookout”
Happy 4th! I took the kids to a parade this morning (we left after an hour and a half – those things can be so long!!!) and needed some zen in my life with the crowds… so went with Auphorie Zen. It didn’t disappoint. Stay safe, everyone!!!
And stay centered 🙂
Like several other NSTers, I’m in Vetiver today. Mine is by Givenchy and is great for a warm summer day. Happy 4th to those who celebrate!
I always meant to ask you: Did you get a bottle of this in the end?
Oh yes, I certainly did!
Great!
Climbing the perfume mountain ( which has a trace of snow on it this morning ) in Coco / Coco Noir combo and a layer of thermals.
Enjoy your holiday
You smell delicious and sophisticated in those thermals!
Happy Fourth of July to all who celebrate!
Today I am wearing my sample of Dame Perfume’s Monsoon.
Do you like it?
Happy 4th to NST-tites in the US. Here we have no holiday, and no summer either, just cold drear.
What I want to do is do back to bed for a bit, then take a brisk walk, then come home and go back to bed, and work from beneath my duvet. I’d like to perfume myself with six more of the samples from Foxbin’s astounding gift, and learn some more scents. What I have to do is attend A Grown Up Meeting (how dull!) and be civil to some very silly people (how difficult!) and recommend a course of action about a programme in which I have no interest (how dangerous!). The perfume helping me in this endeavour is Queen,,because it’s one of my favourite cheap thrills. It’s warm, sweet and woody, a perfume more handsome than pretty, if you see what I mean. I’m wearing a black dress and commando boots. Actually, no Commando worth his salt would ever be caught dead in these boots, but I love their satisfying “clomp” and the miscellany of zips and other bits of business. Queen the dress and the boots are working together in a very satisfactory way.
Be well, all.
Finished with Canada Day hoopla and am at work, but preteding to be a the beach with MH Fleurs de Sel.
You smell great.
Happy Birthday, America! I started off the day with the community pancake breakfast, and an American perfume: Dame Verbena, Freesia, and Musk. Heading out soon to our community parade, aka The Shortest 4th of July Parade In America: the route is about 1000 ft long (maybe). Two fire engines, a few decorated cars, and a bunch of kids on bikes. It takes them longer to line up than to do the parade. 🙂
We were in Iceland a few weeks ago for their Independence Day. Rather different than the US – more of a street fair; no parades or fireworks. We quite enjoyed it 🙂
Fun thing to look for in Reykjavik: someone is gluing little toys to the street signs and buildings all over the city. We spotted Garfield, a fox, a penguin from ‘Madagascar’, a smurf….
https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/d%C3%B3tadreifarinn/
For more, just google ‘Reykjavik Toy Spreader’
Ha ha — do you live in my town?? Our 4th of July parade was three fire engines, half a dozen vintage autos, one guy on stilts, and a group of people walking dogs with patriotic ribbons around their necks. And somehow people came from all over the county to watch!
Sounds like our parades. It always takes a few minutes for it to register that the ‘parade’ is over and that line of cars is just cars
I’ve been MIA lately due to work constraints. Since today is a holiday in the US, I started the day in Champca which is really pretty. It faded awhile ago and I am now testing Opardu, another beauty. I am adding them both to my never-ending theoretical buy list. Happy 4th to all the US perfumistas! ???????? Happy Tuesday to all others!
Happy 4th, Petunia – you smell exceptionally pretty!
???? Aww…thanks!
Opardu = love
It’s a beauty! I may need to sell a kidney. ????
Happy 4th July US of A!!
SOTD!Aromatics Black Cherry.
I’ve never loved Aromatics Elixer, but oh boy,her dark-but-sweet-evil sister Black Cherry is AWESOME!!Cannot stop sniffing myself!I can almost taste the black cherries!Good stuff!
Glad I finally found a bottle!
X
Ooh, that sounds good!
You should seek it out,it’s wonderful and cozy in the cold weather!
Whoa, I’ve never heard of this one! I’ll have to sniff it out. Tried Aromatics Elixer, FINALLY, for the first time last week, and I was in sultry, glamorous heaven, but that may have just been my mood that day. 😉
Hehe!Sultry and glamorous sounds good to me!
I tried all 4 the other day,Elixer still not LOVE,Aromatics in Black is a bit “too much”,Aromatics in White has a screechy, powdery note that bothers me a bit.
Black Cherry:Perfection!!
Nice to see your post johanob!
I’m in Gourmand Coquin, from a decant from a lovely NSTer, which I’ve been hoarding. I’d love a FB, and wanted to see how it wears in warmer weather. Gorgeous, as anticipated. But GAH! So $$$!
Enjoy the holiday, fellow Americans, and happy Tuesday to the rest.
Oh – and a quick story. I got a bottle of Shalimar PdT in the mail yesterday. I sprayed some on, anticipating rapturous wafting, and got a big whiff of hot metal and something acrid. I was utterly perplexed and wondered briefly if someone had gone to the trouble to make a counterfeit 1/2 full bottle to sell for $25 (dubious.) A few minutes later, my husband reminded me that my mom was cleaning the oven, explaining the smell that was permeating the house. WHEW!
Made me laugh! Hope the Shalimar brought on the expected rapture post oven-cleaning.
I’ve never smelled a version of Shalimar that was not instant LOVE.The EDC especially stole my heart-and money!
I think oven cleaner must be one of the worst smells in the world – and cleaning ovens one of the worst jpbs
Happy holiday to all those who are holiday-ing! I had to slather on a lot of sunscreen today on account of my newest summer frock and the amount of skin it bares, so I topped it off with generous sprays of Neroli Portofino. Goes great with sunscreen, and sweat, and summertime!
Oh! I love Neroli Portofino! So refreshing!
You smell wonderful!
**PSA for free Dame perfume**
If you’re interested in trying Monsoon, Dame will send you a free 3ml sample spray, with discount code #ModernAmerican
It’s only for today, July 4th, and only until they run out. They have 241 on offer. I just placed my order successfully. No affiliation, I just, like Dame Perfumery and their offerings!
Thanks, Nancyleandros! I just ordered one, too 🙂 I’ve been thinking of buying a sample, but this, of course, is better!
You’re most welcome. ????
I’m in Amouage Interlude, courtesy of a kind NSTer in the last swap meet. I like the strong immortelle note in this one!
Post-shower, I’m in The 7 Virtues Vetiver of Haiti. Simple but refreshing.
Oh, that’s a nice one. You smell great!
Oh, that’s nice!
???? love that one and in fact was looking to see if it was available at LuckyScent or Twisted Lily for % off, but sadly neither place carries it. Pretty sure I could be happy with every Vetiver ever created finding a home in my collection.
Deva, I think ordering through Lord & Taylor is the only way to purchase 7 Virtues.
I feel the same way about vetiver. Heavy sigh.
I don’t suppose you know a discount code for L&T? ????
No, I wish I did!
Today’s SOTD is Lovely by SJP – an absolute favorite of mine. 🙂 Hope everyone has a great July 4th!
I forget how really really lovely LOVELY is!You smell great!!
Thanks!
It is a far and away cheaper substitute for Narcisco Rodriguez edt, just picked up a 3.4 oz bottle for $18.99. 🙂
I’m in Passage d’Enfer, first time I’ve tried this one. Now I see why everyone loves this one, and now I love it, too!
We’ve had out of town company all weekend, and the last bunch left a couple of hours ago. It’s very quiet around here…
Yum, you smell fantastic!
I love that moment when everyone has just left and you can sigh and relax. 🙂
Happy holiday to the Americans here! I’m enjoying my day off in Pharrell Williams Girl again, because it was just so darn good yesterday. We woke up late, had an enormous brunch, and are prettifying our home until we go for a rooftop picnic tonight, from where we will see the fireworks 🙂
Don’t you love when you find something that is a bargain but is also so good?!
Bracken today. Robin, I hope you have a great vacation!
Thank you! So far, so good.
Olfactive Studio’s Lumière Blanche.
Hope all you American NST-ers are having a lovely 4th July 🙂
I’m back from my Ohio-Chicago trip and so happy to be home! I missed NST. Today I’m wearing Premier Figuer Extreme and smelling delicious. Had a leisurely wake up and breakfast at home, then walked to our favorite Korean restaurant in the neighborhood for bibimbab. Ran into Goodwill for a few min and left with a new small black leather crossbody purse in good condition. Will spend the rest of the day relaxing before going back to work tomorrow. Luckily, we can see fireworks by just walking outside our apt. Brats and red potatoes for dinner later, yum.
I love Korean food- bibimbap is delicious!
Happy 4th to the NSTers in the US! Been a good day here! A few beers with friends at a local brewery and then a cookout and fireworks with more friends. Definitely have to get back on track with the healthy eating tomorrow. 😯
Making the way through some Jo Malone samples and was in Orris and Sandalwood today. I’m really enjoying this one. Gotta decide which juice to take with me to Abuquerque Thursday. Going to try to include something sporty for Friday!
