The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 22 June 2017 16 Comments

How about a trip to Soho to visit the pop-up St. Ives Mixing Bar? "The first-of-its-kind, this 1800-square-foot store is inspired by the joyful, vibrant energy of nature and St. Ives' key ingredients. It features a mixing bar where guests can choose from more than 50 unique ingredient combinations and desired body lotion richness or facial scrub exfoliation levels. In addition to showcasing many of the St. Ives ingredients people know and love, the St. Ives Mixing Bar will also offer guests the chance to experience over 20 new, on-trend skincare ingredients such as pink lychee, kale, ginger and volcanic sand. All custom face scrubs and body lotions will retail for $12 each." It's open Monday through Saturday from 11-9 and Sunday from 11-8, through July 30 at 577 Broadway (at the corner of Prince). More information at St. Ives Mixing Bar.

It does sound like fun, especially all the new smells. I like the idea of making my own blend right on the spot. Eager to hear any reports.

    Hi All,

I walked over after work, and it is every bit as adorable as the picture appears. It is a large space, decorated in sherbet-like colors. The sales people are all very friendly and approachable. A sales assistant helps you decide if you want a scrub or lotion. If you select the scrub, there are 6 (I think) different type of exfoliates you can choose from. You get to feel/smell them to decide which you like. You also get to smell all the scent combinations. They then put the ingredients together and mix it for you. They are happy to have you take pictures and ask questions. I purchased three items, two scrubs and a lotion. While the scents are not the most complex, and some are sneeze-worthy, there are a few really interesting combinations. I would say at the $12 price point (tax included) it is a good value and very fun experience.

I hope you guys get to go tonight!!! Have fun!!!

    Tara
