Chanel Gabrielle ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 16 June 2017 19 Comments

Chanel Gabrielle

Chanel will launch Gabrielle, a new abstract floral for women, in September. Gabrielle is named for the brand's founder, Gabrielle Chanel, and hopes to evoke "the rebellious, mold-breaking spirit of her early years before she became Coco." The fragrance will be fronted by actress Kristen Stewart.

Gabrielle was developed by house perfumer Olivier Polge. The notes feature ylang ylang, jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose.

Chanel Gabrielle will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I like the fact that they use a different kind of bottle this time and from what I have seen, I like it :)
I dunno about the notes. It’s been done before. But who knows? Perhaps they tweak it to something with personality and dare I say it…a little bold? Probably not, but would be nice for a change ;)
There will be a huge heft of aldehydes, as we know Chanel :)
I do like the Le Exclusifs line, but it has been ages since I have liked something from their wider line.
    Looking forward to september :)

They’re trying to reach Millennials (like everyone else) so not sure we’ll really see a huge heft of aldehydes, but we’ll see. I’m expecting this to be light.

        Darn :(
Light can be good…but not too light ..
        So I expect a crowdpleaser now :)
I think that I have to have a very low expectation and be surprised :D

Well — don’t say darn, I don’t know any more than you do! I’m just guessing.

From those who’ve tried it, they are describing it as a floral gourmand. Nice bottle.

I have heard that some aren’t really impressed. It can be good for me ;)
Hopefully it will be a good one..tho I have heard it’s going to be their most expensive fragrance.

Until one tries it… but if it is actually gourmand then no loss for me. I’ll give them credit for the bottle which looks better in this picture than the earlier ones, but I don’t really see the need to own it.

Me neither. At the moment. We’ll see, when I have sniffed the fragrance and tried it on a few times :)

A floral gourmand would make sense, and would not necessarily disappoint me.

Has Chanel done a tuberose-centric perfume?

No, but I am taking them at their word when they say abstract floral.

Sounds nice, looking forward to sniffing. I used to wear Allure back in the day. Most Chanels don’t last well on me but we can always hope.

Sounds like Coco for millennials …

I thought that was Coco Mlle. Love the bottle, lost me at gourmand and K. Stewart. It’s got a write-up in the June issue of Canadian Elle, too.

That’s funny and yes, K. Stewart sealed the deal … not for me! It’s ok though, I love no.19 and no.5. I’m good :)

Love no. 19, no. 5 and Cristalle. If I had to wear only those three forever I could be happy.

Makes me want to try Cristalle. Thanks!

All I know is that I want it! Those notes are perfect for me, everything I love, so excited for this perfume, if it’s Chanel you know it will be quality plus they are not going to risk not having a number 1 seller so I think it will be perfect :)

From those who tested, I have the feedback it is in the veins of Jour d’Hermès. Well-balanced, inoffensive, classy, fresh.
