Well that was fast — it's Monday, again. It's also World Environment Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm doing rhubarb (Wikipedia helpfully points out that "Although rhubarb is not a true fruit, in the kitchen it is usually prepared as if it were", which is good enough for me) in Aedes de Venustas Signature.
Reminder: 6/9 will be Fruity Friday! (A repeat from 2014.) Wear something fruity. Doesn't have to be a fruity floral, just something with plenty of fruit.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Mary Greenwell’s Plum today. White florals over stewed fruit – very nice.
Spent my lunch hour catching up with Simon’s Cat on YouTube. If you haven’t seen them here’s a link: https://www.youtube.com/user/simonscat – you could easily waste a couple of hours on there. Enjoy!
I have seen Simon’s Cat! Too cute
It really is!
Simon’s Cat videos are great. Entertaining and obviously made by people who understand and love cats.
I also loved Simon’s drawing of Cole and Marmalade, two of my favorite internet kitties.
I love Simon’s cat too! 🙂
I also love them and one of my cats has a meow exactly like Simon’s (big) cat!
One of my cats likes to string his rather loud meows together and sounds like Rihanna singing ‘Work’ (except he’s more in tune, obviously). The other croaks like he’s been gargling frogs.
Hahaha! So funny! I will be laughing for the rest of this rainy day. Under my umbrella… ella… ella…
Cats made internet famous 😉
Simon’s Cat for the win!!
Being environmentally friendly by doing a second steep of my tea and then will compost the leaves, happy world environment day.
SOTD is Benjoin 19 by le labo, layered over coco noir body lotion. its working for me somehow.
My husband composts all my tea leaves, sometimes before I’m done with them — it is most annoying when it’s an expensive oolong that would make 3 or 4 good cups of tea! I have tried but failed to get him to recognize what an oolong tea leaf looks like.
🙂
Your husband and my husband sound like two peas in a pod in that regard..
I do tea and coffee. By the end of spring, my freezer is full of ziplock bags of grounds and leaves! There is only room left for ice cubes and ice cream. I must prioritize!
Why are you freezing stuff instead of just throwing it on the pile outside? (Serious question. I know nothing about composting, but my husband adds to the pile all winter long.)
Not perfume related, I have been using CG super sizer mascara, because its easy to wipe/wash off and I like the results. I have noticed with this tube its been flaking a lot. Maybe I should just buy another. Anyone have a drug store brand mascara that is easy to wash off with soap and water?
Maybelline Full and Soft works reasonably well for me.
and its easy to wash off?
Yes, I get the regular (non-waterproof) formula and it washes off easily.
I am DEDICATED to CoverGirl Clump Crusher (green tube, the original, not the waterproof). Haven’t touched my fancy-schmancy Chanels Inimitable since Clump Crusher came out two years ago. Zero issues with flakes.
Thanks for the tip, is it easy to wash off?
The fancy Chanel mascaras are nice, but I don’t like mascara or eye liners that gives me raccoon eyes when I try to wash it off.
LOL
I would make such a bad woman (for a whole lot of reasons, but regarding the present subject) , I don’t think I could wear makeup without it becoming a smeared mess before I even left the house!
Cheers!
You should see me trying to get myself ready in the morning with the two babies, sometimes I like like a smeared mess 🙂
I use the Cover Girl that’s supposed to enhance eye color-I use the one for green eyes which is a shimmery burgundy. Doesn’t really enhance my eye color but it doesn’t give me raccoon eyes and washes off very easily with no mess. It’s more subtle than wearing black so may not give a dramatic look if you’re looking for that.
My fav for a few years now is the L’Oreal Voluminous mascara – one of the great black/browns. Not the waterproof, but the regular. I moisten my lashes with a few pats of damp hands before I use either my regular lotion cleanser or a cotton pad with micellar water. No problems ever getting it off easily – no pulling or tugging. And I never have flake off during the day.
2nd Voluminous, def stacks up to dept store brands. Like the non-waterproof version in carbon black, and it doesn’t flake/is easy to wash off.
Ditto this! Also, really recommend Clinique Cleasnsing balm- gets off EVERYTHING and doesn’t strip you skin of moisture. I’ve used lots of balms and cleansing oils, but the Clinique one is still the best.
Thanks everyone for the mascara recommendations.
I appreciate you asking, I am always looking for mascara recommendations lol.
Just curious – is there a reason you’re using soap and water rather than a makeup remover to get mascara off?
I do use a make up remover: soap and water was just a figure of speech as in “easy to get off”
This week I will be getting some mileage out of the Escada Limited Edition super fruity perfumes in my collection from the 1990s as well as doing some testing of “new toys”-
SOTD- Escada Limited Edition 1993 Chiffon Sorbet
Top notes- black currant, red apple, raspberry, mango, passionfruit
Mid notes- jasmine, rose, violet, plum, black fig
Base notes- musk, sandalwood, virginia cedar, vanilla
Testing CSP Coconut Extreme for the coconut note. I like this one but to my nose smells exactly like Pacifica’s Indian Coconut Nectar which is substantially cheaper and just as good IMHO
I just loved those early editions. That’s awesome you still have some.
I had all in full bottles except for Chiffon Sorbet. A number of years ago they brought out a mini set of the first six limited editions and I bought three packs! Right now I am up to pack number 2 in terms of my usage. The older /earlier editions are better than current IMHO as far as the bottles go…even some of the juice is slighter better although there are a few current ones that I actually liked (Cherries in the Air is one). My all time favorite of the early ones is Un Ete En Provence.
Wearing No5 L’Eau, which wears as a sparkling EDC version of No5 on my skin.
This was a gift from my friend with mobility issues (thanks for the Saturday comment, lovestosmellgood) , made all the sweeter because he went to the mall (braver than me ! LOL) and picked it out himself.
I will think of him every time I wear it.
Robin, gifts that immediately make you think of the giver, project suggestion.
Triple strength coffee.
Lovely day even with the grey skies. 😀
Carpe Diem. Peace.
You smell great! Cabotine always reminds me of an old girlfriend who, although I’ve lost touch with her, wore Cabotine and it smelled so amazing. I bought a bottle and wear it whenever I get sentimental. So it was an indirect gift. ????
Cabotine is great, a wonderful green floral, I have to find my bottle and wear it when summer decides to stay for good! !!
LOL
Cheers, flopper !
I wore Cabotine in my twenties, good memories of that one!
Such a sweet and touching gift. I think that would be a really cool community project.
I second that…both comments 🙂
Thanks chocolatemarzipan8 !
Cheers lillyjo!
You got this, job-wise.
Carry On !
Thanks Bear. Your encouragement means alot.
Added to list!
I love that project suggestion!
I bet there are some amazing memories associated with the gift of fragrances!
What a great thank-you from your friend!
Your welcome!
In the Netherlands today is an extra day off for a lot of people, because of Pentecost-weekend.
After two days of cleaning out a lot of junk (sorting out messy boxes, books and piles of old paper work), I decided to take it easy today.
Its a sunny and windy day. A bit too cold for bare legs, but when the clouds are gone, its very nice.
SotD: I am wearing the gorgeous Romanza by Masque Romano and listening to the lovely and awesome Amy Winehouse (I miss her…what a great artist!)
We are off to Holland later this summer. My second trip there and I can’t wait to eat a bossche bol in den bosch.
Oh nice!!! How long are you staying?
Let me know if you need any tips etc.
Bossche bollen are great and Den Bosch is a very beautiful and interesting city.
A colleague of mine lives in Den Bosch and one time she treated the whole team to very cute mini-Bossche bollen (a smaller version less damaging for the waistline hahaha). She also thinks bakery Jan de Groot is one of the best places to get them.
writing down Jan de Groot for a place to eat
…oh and about Fruity friday, do we consider citrus fruity?
If so, it will be much easier for me to do more fruity wearings. 🙂
Of course 🙂
SOTD is Pierre Guillaume Collection Croisière “Mojito Chypre”.
Top: lime, aldehydes, strawberry and mint;
Mid: mojito and rum;
Base: patchouli, vetiver, vanilla, labdanum and oakmoss.
No me gusta nada este perfume. A blast of toothpasty mint and SWEEEET red fruit flavouring. As the mint dies down, the red fruit squash concentrate takes over. And boy does it last! It’s like the Hello Kitty version of “a boot stamping on a human face – forever”. :^)
I found this one horrifying! The strawberry smells so chemical in it 🙁
Yes, very artificial and – worse! – sweet with it. :^)
You gotta worry about a strawberry mojito… wrong baby wrong.
Strawberry margarita on the other hand is quite nice. 🙂
Or Strawberry Daquiris – TOMK and I have a splendid memory of sipping these on the waterfront in Mykonos, watching shoals of little fishies swim about. that was a while ago now…
“It’s like the Hello Kitty version of “a boot stamping on a human face – forever”. :^)”
This made me laugh. It sounds horrifying.
I have fun trying out different perfumes, not all of which suit me personally, but I can’t recommend this to anyone with any sincerity. :^)
That’s maybe the best use of that quote I’ve seen.
Ha! Very true.
Thanks for the laugh, and the warning about your SOTD! Duly noted.
I hated it with a passion
Facing 2 more busy days working outdoors. Cloudy, gray, rainy day. Hajusuuri, thanks for your recommendation of the waterproofing light jackets. The one I bought on Friday is working perfectly fine today. Still waiting for the other one I ordered on line. Wearing Philosophy Amazing Grace and drinking plenty of coffee. Happy Monday!
Amazing Grace is perfect for a rainy Monday. You smell lovely.
Thank you! You also small wonderful on Chiffon Sorbet!
“small wonderful” yup that’s me-LOL!!!
Oops! 😀 😀
You’re welcome perfumelover!
Wearing Burberry Brit Sheer for this fruity week. I thought that after wearing Brit Rhythm on Friday, it would be appropriate to start this week with another Burberry fragrance (although I definitely prefer Rhythm to Sheer).
Burberry Brit Sheer was one of my staples several years ago….and I drained a bottle!
About ten years ago, I had (and drained) a bottle of Ghost Sheer Summer, and today Burberry Brit Sheer strongly reminded me of it. It seems I no longer care for this type of fragrance, but back then I’d have probably appreciated this Burberry more.
I chose Atelier Cologne Silver Iris for today. Mostly because I love this iris but it also has a pretty black currant accord.
You smell great, I love Silver Iris and black currant.
Thank you
I agree with C^. Love, love, love Silver Iris!
Me too, and it smells great no matter the season
I’m in Cartier La Panthere today.
Twins! I’m testing it for the first time. And probably the last – I find it very pretty, but am not connecting with it on any level emotionally. I would love to smell it in someone else, however.
I can see that. It is a bit of a like-it-or-meh kind of scent. It’s not in heavy rotation in my collection, but it seemed right to bring out today.
I received a sample of this and agree with you all. Its a pretty scent, just not for me.
I’m in Chanel Allure. Wearing because the bottle reminded me of the day. The sky is looking rather fall like.
I like Allure, you smell great!
I have a tester with the six sections chart of the fragrance structure.
I read it every time I wear it.
Such a perfume nerd, I am !
LOL
I need to but that one in my rotation…
You “but” that one right in 🙂 !!!
HA!
I wore Allure as my work friendly fragrance for quite a while in the early 2000s. My preference is for the extrait version – I have one of those tiny coffret ones. I know this will cause virtual thrown tomatoes… but IMHO Allure extrait is just about the same thing or better than Beige.
IIRC Allure extrait gets lots of love on BdJ
My mom wears Allure and I love it on her. You smell great.
Running late but smelling great in VC&A Bois d’Iris. Monday, and a full 5-day work week – how delightful. Sigh.
Sighing along with you… But you do indeed smell wonderful!
I may have to get a bottle of this one. I drained my sample but never pulled the trigger for some reason.
You smell great.
This is such a lovely Iris!
Bel Respiro for me today.
Nice! I wore it last night because I was craving fresh.
One of my favorite greens. You smell beautiful!
I like fruit in my perfumes, as long as it’s not froot. 🙂 Might even do a week of the project, which I hardly ever manage to do! Lots of things to choose from in my spring/early summer wardrobe. It’s cool and rainy today, so I think I will bust out the Ferre 20, which I bought in Rome in 2011 and which reminds me of a fruitier, muskier Iris Poudre.
Ha! Yes, there’s a distinct difference between “froot” and “fruit”.
Inquiring minds want to know: what is the difference between fruit and froot?
“Froot” would be very artificial smelling- like candy flavoring or artificial drink-mixes.
Like the difference between fresh-squeezed orange juice and orange life-savers candies … or Tang. 🙂
“Froot” is also usually sickly sweet in my book.
Oh, I think I might like some things that qualify as froot too, if they’re fun enough 😉
SOTD: Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc.
Rhubarb deserves more attention and love (also more readily available!) 🙂
Forgot all about fruit and am therefore wearing Le Maroc pour elle. It does contain citrus apparently although citrus does not really qualify as fruit in perfume terms.
I thought this might with this week’s theme.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U90dnUbZMmM
I meant this might fit with …
Love Maroc pour Elle! It is my favorite patchouli. Gorgeous!!!
In Plum with BobH. It is a little cold and early in the day here for Plum. But once I am a little more awake and the sun starts to act like a sun, it will be perfect.
How do you like it?
Oh I like it a lot. It is a strangely “grown up” polished perfume, that someone’s tinkered with adding a splash of fruit punch.
I don’t love the Lily Pulitzer-like packaging, but if you can forget the ladies who lunch box it comes in, this perfume falls somewhere between my “smells more expensive than it is” and “just for fun” categories.
Oakland Fresca – I have a FB of Plum that is in my ” Oh God, get it off my skin” pile – it does not do well on me.
If you email me at t f k 3 1 (no spaces) at yahoooooodotcaum I would be happy to send it to you.
hannahmom, that is incredibly generous of you, especially since the bottle cap alone you could use for weight lifting it is so heavy.
I have an FB of Plum that I may never finish, but perhaps others might want to take that “off your skin” so to speak!
(Mals wrote a very fun review of it here: http://themuseinwoodenshoes.com/perfume-review-mary-greenwell-plum/)
I’ve totally embraced today’s theme, although I didn’t think about it this morning when I jumped into FragranceLand.
So, 2 things:
-Arielle Shoshana edp from a sample. Big fun!
-Nicolai l’Eau Mixte on the other side, just because why not?
l’Eau Mixte notes:
Top
Bergamot, Lemon, Mint, Grapefruit
Heart Notes
Blackcurrant bud, Rose, Jasmine, Spices
Base notes
Vetiver, Oakmoss, Musk
Huh. In my mind, L’eau Mixte was one of those cologney things that would bore me, but maybe not. I really like blackcurrant bud.
I would call it kind of zingy.
Oh! I have a Nicolai decant that I’ve been waiting to try until the season changed. I thought it was this one, but it’s Week-end, which looks equally fruity. Thanks for the reminder to pull it out for the week.
I just got L’eau a La Florie which I will be wearing some time this week due to its fruitiness (and if I butchered the name someone PLEEEEASEEE correct me!)
FOLIE……SHEESH!!!!!!
Another foggy June gloom day. Noir Epices.
You smell grand!
You smell great! Love Noir Épices.
Noir Epices will certainly warm up any dreary day!
Wafting Amouage Bracken wherever I go today. I smell damp ferns and chamomile, but the notes give credit to wild berries, so I am counting this towards the weekly project.
That does sound nice. Adding to the sample list.
June is the hottest month where I live, so I’m bringing out the colognes. Today is my new decant of CdG Citrico. Smells like a less strong (and slightly less good) version of the original Acqua di Parma. Aaaaand now I’m wishing I had a fb of AdP . . . .
SOTD is the last of my small decant of PG’s Ilang Ivohibe. It is so lovely. When ylang ylang is done right, it is so beautiful!
L’Artisan Mure et Musc. I definitely get the blackberry in this one but as far as musks go, there are others that are better imho.
Happy Monday all! Hope the sun is shining where you are!????
I’ve long desired a fragrance that has Mure et Musc’s blackberry note, but without all the other stuff (that gets in the way for me.) There don’t seem to be too many blackberry perfumes out there, but I love the smell of sun-warmed berries, stalks and leaves in the summer. They abound where I live so it’s very associative of the season.
Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay? Philosophy’s Falling in Love?
Have you tried Olympic Orchids Blackbird?
I have, and that’s exactly the blackberry I’m looking for – but not the pine, which I find extremely overwhelming.
SOTD is Histoires de Parfums 1969, the one with peach on the top. It was in my sample fling pack from Luckyscent (I had mentioned wanting a summer scent and that I like citrus and peach notes). I’ve had a sample before but never bought the FB. It’s pretty nice, upbeat, sparkly, spicy. Hmmm. Might be a bit over the top though.
One of my favs — I like to spray just on the chest to limit silage.
Love this one! I’m saving my last little bit for Friday, but the 15ml bottle on the HdP website is calling my name . . .
I got the 15ml when I found it in a local shop…I have to support local business…right?
Oh, if I could find 15ml locally I’d snap it right up!
I’m trying out some Auphorie samples — Eau de Nyonya (fruity rice!) on one hand and Eternal Voyage (lemony rose and then….nothing?) on the other.
I don’t think I like either of these as well as my other two samples (Shambhala & Miyako) both of which I really liked.
ETA: Think I’ll put Shambhala on when I get back from the gym. My husband described it as “smelling like spring” and I agree. The incense underpinnings of the fruit & floral give it a wet earth & new growth feeling.
I wonder if there’s a musk they use that you can’t smell. Eternal Voyage was my favorite. I get a distinct gourmand base in that one. Regal Secret I could smell the fruity top notes and then nothing which I assume is some musk or other.
I think there is, probably a couple of things I can’t smell! — it lists “ambergris” as one of the base notes and I was completely unable to smell the EM 02 that was supposedly ambergris.
Miyako smells like straight up osmanthus essential oil to me. I would buy Shambhala for the name alone…love the song and loved how it was incorporated into my favorite show of all time, LOST.
And now I’m scared, I really like Shamabala and it’s on Tigerlily but not the Auphorie site — is it discontinued?
They discontinued a bunch and I think that’s one of them-also Eternal Voyage which I haven’t bought. I guess it’s now or never…
“Hello, Credit Card, how are you today? No, no, don’t cry — it’s NOT the Mohur extrait. I wouldn’t do that to you. But….I do need your help.”
Ha! Think of all the $$ you’re saving. I keep sniffing my empty EV vial to decide whether I *need* it, and I’m sure when I finally decide to pull the trigger, it’ll be gone. I do periodically check at Indigo to see if they put it on sale. Sometimes they do that with d/c stuff that isn’t moving.
I really liked Eau de Nyanya (I cannot spell it for the life of me!!). Shambala is discontinued – I honk some of the ingredients are hard to come by.
I smell like a peach today in Aftelier Palimpsest.
Oh! Delicious. That’s one of my favorite Afteliers (and pretty much the only one with staying power on my skin).
Cool, rainy and gray here, perfect for Iris Nazarena. Hanging out at home making banana nut muffins, yum.
both are great decisions.
Inadvertently participating in Dasein Summer, so grapefruity! This is the first FB I’ve bought at full price in a loooong time (mostly because I feared it would be d/ced) and I am not regretting it. Cause it’s hot.
Oh, do I need to try it if I love grapefruit?
Under the weather since yesterday with respiratory crud, but fortunately I can still smell! Went with refreshing and light with Ormonde Jayne Champaca today.
oh no! hope you feel better awfully soon!
Thanks Elizabeth! It’s not that severe, thankfully.
I hope it passes quickly. Feel better!
Thanks Petunia!
The weather here is not the best for sure. Take very good care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you! I’m ptetty sure I caught something from the giy on the train on Friday who was coughing without covering his mouth because he was too involved with video games on his phone.
How charming. Hope it makes its exit quickly. 🙁
It was gross. He had a really gunky cough and he was alternating coughing with snorting. I moved but probably too late.
I hate it when people do this! If I have to hold on to a subway pole, I always use a napkin/tissue.
Hope you feel better soon. I’m just getting over an upper respiratory infection myself. Drink plenty of fluids, get lots of rest, and hopefully you’ll be back to your ole’ self in no time.
Thanks! I slept a lot yesterday but actually felt well enough to work today. I took extra Vit C and zinc so hope it’s on the way out.
You smell so good!
Thank you! I agree but I can’t smell it anymore ????
Oh yuk on the crud! I hope yours is gone very soon… there is some kind of evil bug going around where I am.
The Crud. Sounds like it should be a movie villain. Thanks! I get some sort of crud about twice a year: Spring and Fall, so we’re right on schedule!
Very good morning from Sunny Seattle, NST. We’re here, after a moderately awful journey (plane delayed, missed connections and other such tedious stuff) un-jetlagged, and just happy to be on holiday. The news from home about the Dak cat is encouraging (still no activity with the knitted mice, however) and here I am, scented with gorgeous, dryly refreshing Sycomore and about to set out to see what we shall see.
I smell very well: I hope you all are too.
glad you made it after all that! have a great time, I truly love Seattle, it’s a wonderful place. and you smell great!
Yay to your U.S. visit and yay to Sycomore too!
Welcome! Keep us posted on your adventures.
Yay! Have a super great time!
Welcome! Enjoy your trip! Dakkie will be fine!
Welcome! This time of year is generally cool/wet/overcast, so you’ve lucked out. Enjoy your visit – what’s on your itinerary?
Congrats on making it to Seattle! And lucky you to be there in sunny weather… it was definitely not sunny the last time I was in those parts.
Woo hoo! Welcome to US of A!!!
I went full out pineapple today with Ice Station Pineapple.
Smell Bent does some really nice scents. I enjoy this one too.
Good morning Y’all!
Starting the week off in ELdO’s Fils de Dieu….one of my all time faves!
4 hours in, and it’s still nice and bright….
I am SOOOOOO excited!! My in-laws are vacationing in Italy, and she just messaged me and asked if there was an Italian perfume I might like? She loves to shop, so of course I’m taking her up on her offer! LOL I would love either Profumum’s Dulcis in Fundo, OR Farmacia SS. Annunziata dal 1561’s Verde di Persia. I hope she is able to find one of ’em! 🙂 I’ll report in a week or so, hopefully… 🙂
Exciting! I hope you get one of your favorites. Nice In-laws.
That’s exciting! Should definitely cure your perfume fatigue. Btw, loved your video the other day.
Well, no luck with those 2 perfumes, so I suggested looking for Acqua di Parma, and then finding a sharp citrus! But it doesn’t matter if she finds something or not; it’s definitely the thought that counts!
Wow! That’s awesome. What great in-laws you have!
That’s really sweet of her.
Your in-laws sound awesome.
Jada, I’m not at all sure about this, but I’ve heard that Fendi is still making Theorema for the Italian market. It’s a spicy citrus with a lovely woody dry down that you might like.
NSTers, please feel free to correct me. ????
I love a good fruity chypre and am enjoying the peachy nectarine deliciousness of Yvresse this morning as an antidote against the rainy weather.
Yvresse is perfect for today, cold and raining here. You smell amazing!
No fruit this morning, I wanted to try my little bottle of Brin de Reglisse. It disappears so fast! I sprayed about 15 minutes ago and it’s already a skin scent.
You smell(ed) great!
I put a little of my HG Voyage into oil, which is great, and a little of my decant of Eau Sauvage Fraicheur Cuir, which has some citrus up top, but the drydown is something amazing (wore this combo yesterday, and had to do it again). Don’t know how fruity I can get? But if orange/citrus count, I’ll make it work.
Vintage Coco EDT today because it is overcast still.
To assuage my spending guilt and enable others, Notino has a 10% off code, SLASH10, right now…no affiliation. I pulled the trigger on a FB of Noir de Noir finally and shall keep you all apprised on the batch code when it arrives. 😉
I convinced myself the purchased was o.k. based on how many perfumes and other items I have given away or sold over the last few months. I am also stimulating the economy I tell myself…you may have similar self-talk. 🙂
And I have a second interview on Weds. with a VP and finance director. ???? I am a bit nervous…plenty of perfume to see me through this week thankfully.
AH! I love that website..going over now..
You smell divine! Vintage C in every form is always amazing. (I also love NdN. ????) Notino is great except for their constantly fluctuating prices….
Yes it’s a bit like Amazon w/ the prices. I had the NdN in my cart already so I got it at a slightly lower price b/c of that. I opened up the site in another and the price was slightly higher. You have to be vigilant. ehaeheh 😉
I am happy to send you some vintage Coco…I have EDT, EDP and parfum and can send you all 3 if you’d like. I went on buying spree last year and was just marveling (and also grimacing 😉 ) at how much I acquired last year. I can also send you more 2009 LPRB too…
LPRN that is…
Thanks for the offer! You’re very sweet. When it was released, Coco was my sig scent for several years. I saved partial bottles of all three strengths. Couldn’t bear to finish any of them! Now they are reserved for special occasions. I’ve saved some of the LPRN you sent me last year for the same reason. Periodically I look for it on the evil bay, but have only seen one nib that was $175!!! Yikes. Perhaps this is God’s way of telling me I have enough. Yet I getting acquiring more…..????
Congrats on the interview, and good luck!
Hope the interview goes well!
Wishing you good luck on the interview!
Good luck!
Good luck!
Best of luck with your interview on Wednesday!!
You smell great. Good luck on the interview!
Good luck She-ra!
Late to the party but wishing you a very successful second interview! ????????
Ooohh! It’s fruit week! I wasn’t aware of this until just now. I have plenty of fruity fragrances, so the rest of this week will be relatively easy for me. Today, I’m not wearing a fruity fragrance – I’m wearing Basil & Neroli by Jo Malone. Oh, but wait……lol……I have a sample of Pomegranate Noir in my purse. So, to be a part of the group today, I have just put on a few spritzes of this. Because all of JM fragrances are created to be be mixed together, it goes nicely. Have a great day everyone!
I have yet to delve into Jo Malone. I keep wanting to but an overwhelmed. I need to just go spend some time spraying and sniffing some of them.
Oh, you absolutely have to. Please report back and let me know what you think once you’ve tried it. Most people either really love it or really hate it. I adore the line. 🙂
Wafting Shalimar Eau Légère today! Sweet lemon curd-yum!
I found this lovely bottle (2004 batch) on the bay of evil several years ago. Slightly used but in excellent condition. Never know what you can find on the bay….????
You smell soooo wonderful!
Thank you!
Oooh! sounds yummy. I love Shalimar Souffle for the lemon meringue angle.
I’m in a comfort fragrance today, Orca by House of Matriarch (from a sample that I have, unfortunately for my wallet, fallen completely in love with.)
My bike was stolen over the weekend and I’m feeling sad about it, especially since it may have been one of my neighbors who took it. The bike itself wasn’t particularly special, but it’s been with me for close to a decade and I’d gotten attached to it.
That’s awful! I can’t believe a neighbor did it–is there any way you can find out for sure?
I filed a police report and my property mgmt company said they can review their security cameras. I’m hoping the cameras will turn something up.
Sorry about the bike. This perfume sounds fabulous, and I love that bottle….
It stinks that your bike was stolen!
Oh, no! So sorry.
Drat, that’s terrible!
So sorry about your bike! I had a maddening conversation with the president of our homeowner’s condo board yesterday. He told me according to the rules I am not allowed to store my bike in my condo, for fear that I might bang up the corridor walls bringing it in and out. Wtf? I am keeping it in my apartment to protect it, why would I bang it against the walls?? We have a bike storage room in the basement but the last time I used it, my bike got damaged by another careless resident. 🙁
Seriously, what?
Sorry about your bike. Hopefully you will get it back soon and that it wasn’t your neighbor.
Wow! I’m wishing very bad juju on the person who had the temerity to steal ANY bike, not to mentioned a neighbors!! Hoping for endless flat tires, broken spokes, failed brakes, and all around bad bike karma!
After rooting around in the perfume cabinet for several minutes, I finally found Soivohle Raspberries and Black Pepper. Might have to wear it all week – there appears to be very little in the way of fruit in my cabinet.
I just got three minis from the Soivohle line and am really enjoying them. Might wear two this week.
I really like the ones I have – they are well made, with interesting mixes of notes. Very wearable, but different enough to give them a certain edginess that I quite like.
have you tried Lilacs & Heliotrope? that is the second one I have…..very comforting to me, but you are right, there is a certain edginess…I also have Honeysuckle Bird which I wore last week…it is a nice and cheerful honeysuckle with a kick of strawberry. I think they are all natural but I am not 100% sure.
I haven’t tried that one – I tend to stay away from heliotrope, which reminds me of Play-doh. My favorites thus far are Orris Ochre and Ankhara. Note if you fall in love with one, that the line up tends to change fairly rapidly, with scents coming and going. 🙂
Not all the Soivohle perfumes are all natural. There are some “mixed media” scents, but the website makes it very clear on which is which.
It does smell of Play doh to me and also cocoa and I think that is why I find it comforting.
Jalepeno-
Thanks for that info…….
The first fruity perfume of the week for me is Soivohle Jasmine Summer with notes of key lime essence, tropical fruit, sweet fennel, red berries, jasmine absolute, plumeria, lily of the valley, orchid, musk, and vanilla. It’s pretty sheer so it’s a nice office scent.
OOO! I have that one! I can wear it tonight!!!!!
Wearing it now….it is very sweet 🙂
I have that one, too! Didn’t realize it had so many fruit notes. Also have a fig/plum scent from that house, so now I’ve got three fruit scents to wear this week.

Sorry for the double post. My cat Otto is doing his thing on my keyboard. You know, the thing where he walks back and forth in front of my monitor, doesn’t get any love, then moves on to laying on the keyboard, and then turning onto his back to give me the impossibly cute upside down head….
Ha! Cute. My cat recently reconfigured our layout and we’re not sure how to change it back. Grrrr.
Mine does that too! Some freaky feline twister configuration of head-butting, body-rolling and paw-tapping of keys, and suddenly I no longer have control of my browser display.
Your cat sounds ADORABLE!
Oh how I love rhubarb! Unfortunately kind of pricey these days even in season.
SOTD: Wit
You smell fantastic!
So pretty!
I didn’t know this week’s theme so I’m wearing Safran Troublant today.
I’m looking forward to this week’s project. It’s been pretty rainy and cold, the worst spring weather in recent memory. Some of my fruity chypres will be perfect. At least the rain is keeping down the gypsy moth population that decimated our trees last year.
Happy Monday All!
Ooh. I remember that. I hope they stay away this year.
Also off topic – La Chasse du Papillons (apologies if the French prepositions are wrong…Le? un?) so pretty.
La chasse aux papillons, you smell gorgeous. I got the solid a couple of weeks ago.
Good Day to ALL!
Wearing Ann Gerard Cuir de Nacre- lovely and light, the only leather fragrance I have in my collection.
Question:
What is the last fragrance you fell in love with? I am swooned by Guerlain Angelique Noire (says someone who hates vanilla 🙂 ), my sample is gone and I am looking for the ways to obtain some more.
A: Guerlain Vetiver, Chanel 19 edc, Cristalle edp. I’ve already bought FBs of the 1st two, and will buy the latter this week. *side-eyes wallet*
Cuir de Nacre was a love when I first discovered it, but I’ve never got any leather from it. You? Actually, I get some fruity notes from it, so for me it would fit with the week’s theme.
Congrats on your FBs! I am not a fan of vetiver (yet), but I LOVE Chanel 19 ( have edt version, I had no idea there is edc as well. Is it vintage?) and like Cristalle a lot (prefer edt as it has pronounced hyacinth note).
I got a decant of CdN in a swap and honestly didn’t expect to like it so much since leather and I don’t get along well. I get powdery iris and the most delicate and fragile leather, not sure about the rest of the pyramid.
On my to buy list: Micallef My Ylang, Guerlain Angelique Noire and FM Carnal Flower among others ( currently I have 12 bottles listed on my Fragrantica want list). Needless to say my wallet is petrified, so I will seek travel sprays or decants first.
I’d say the latest that I actually fell hard for was No. 19 edp (I’ve yet to try other iterations). I want a bottle so badly but want to try the edt first to see if I like it better. But it was love at first spray.
I highly recommend EDP over EDT for no 19. I finally broke down and got a bottle of EDP
EDP for me too :-)…current formulation is perfectly perfect!
Yes you get enabler pin for that one
Monday. Pfft!
Box of Eels. Again.
You smell wonderful.
Thanks!
Ditto on “Monday. Pfft”
You do smell wonderful, and I’m a scent cousin in 31 Rue Cambon.
High Five, Cousin! ????
Been so busy and completely failed at last Friday’s project. Was on a golf course for a charity golf tournament and was sweltering for 9 hours, so it’s just as well I didn’t wear anything. I always hate to not participate though ha!
Today I’m in Beach Walk thanks to a Sephora Play sample. It’s nice for a hot summer (it’s pretty much summer here in ‘Bama) day. Nothing I’d ever buy a fb of. The only fruit in it is lemon, I believe, as coconut is technically a tree nut lol.
Oh shoot…I counted my coconut as a fruit for today 🙁
Eh, it’s okay! I initially did too when I sprayed but then thought, “wait, that’s not technically right” lol. I had lemon in mine as backup.
I didn’t plan to be on-theme for the week (because I had forgotten what the Friday project was), but I smell a bit fruity today anyway because I dosed myself with Ineke Gilded Lily this morning and it has a distinct pineapple note. According to Fragrantica it also smells of rhubarb. Whatever. I’m horrible at distinguishing notes. It is a very nice safe fragrance for me and I’m enjoying it as usual.
that’s a pretty one 🙂
I have the same reaction to Nest Midnight Fleur…I smell pineapple big time but it isn’t listed as a note.
I get pineapple from the Midnight Fleur, too!
🙂
I actually remembered the theme for the week (usually I don’t know until I log in here on Monday), so I’m going to see if I can do a whole week. Wish me luck. 😛
Today I’m starting off with Tom Ford Plum Japonaise.
I am going to do a week too! I have a ton of fruit over here.
Had planned to wear Chanel No 5 edt, which is still sitting out on my dresser, but got distracted by a sephora sample of Chloe Fleur de Parfum on the way. It seemed to smell really similar to the original Chloe, as I remembered it, so I put that on my other wrist. According to the notes, Chloe has lychee, so I’m in 😉
On my way to splash on No 5, a package arrived in the mail (thanks to one of NST’s own!) and I’ll soon be wafting Cartier L’Envol.
PS Was in an Anthropologie store this weekend and sniffed the new Mistral floral series soaps and hand creams. I love the packaging and they all smelled really good – Gardenia; Mimosa; and Verbena. I don’t use (bar) soap or scented hand cream, but I was really tempted! 🙂
Ack!!! and I DO use bar soap and hand cream…must avoid Anthropologie now!
The original Chloe from the 1970s? that one was stunning..I think there might have been coconut and/or peach in there along with tuberose but I could be wrong.
There is! and I have some of it…I could do that one too this week..gosh I could probably do a month of fruit…..
No the original Chloe by Chloe (as opposed to Karl Lagerfeld) from 2007. I referred to it as the “original” as there appear to be some flankers.
And ya, I’d agree the KL version had some peachy-fruit-stuff going on.
Oh the rosey Chloe….I actually like that one too!
Wearing Sycamore today as I have friends coming in from out of town who 1) always encourage me to spend money and 2) are staying across the street from the Chanel boutique. I am pretty sure I want a bottle of this one, but have to be sure!
You smell loooovely.
Before noticing this week’s poll topic, I put on Auphorie Miyako (the latest alcohol version). Instead of a fruity floral, this is basically a floral fruit: osmanthus is a flower, but it smells like apricots and leather.
It’s strange. Not being a fruit fan, I always find Miyako too fruity, but I nevertheless keep coming back to it. There is something about the natural richness of this perfume that is compelling and satisfying.
I tried other Auphorie samples, hoping something else would work better. I like one of the new ones very much for the first hour or so, but the drydown is a bit boring.
I found Miyako weird but very compelling. VERY fruity, but I liked it (but my recollection is that Pixel recoiled when she sniffed it) is Auphoria’s Formosa. If money were no object, I’d have bottles of both.
I likewise find Miyako weird but compelling. It’s on my list of “thinking about FB”. The Auphorie’s are a pretty reasonable price compared to some of the things I’ve been sampling lately AND quite different from what I already own in FBs. I just can’t decide if a spray if it would be Way Too Much of a Good Thing.
It isn’t weak. I tend to spray in one place and then tap on other spots.
Y’all need to get your hands on some osmanthus essential oil. You can honestly wear it as a perfume all by itself.
http://www.edenbotanicals.com/osmanthus-absolute.html
Blend it with a carrier oil and you have an instant all natural oil perfume……
For me it was love at first sniff – and my first intro to Osmanthus which I never smelled before. I really like it, (I have the older version made in this weird base – it is not alcohol version, but something else) and BTW is there a difference with different base? I have not tried Formosa, but tried Buntorong, Eau de NyoNya, and their EDPs. I am fairly impressed with the brand, and glad to see fragrances coming out from other corners of the world (as oppose to Europe, US and Middle East)
I had a sample of the oil form, and I think I like it better with the alcohol base. But then I generally lack patience with oils, which usually seem sort of soggy to me.
Chanrl Chance eau Tendre. I drained the last of my Chance Eau Fraiche sample yesterday, and it reminded me that I like that one a lot, too.
The original Chance doesn’t work for me, though. 🙂
I like the flankers better than the pillar in this case, too. The original Chance just hasn’t ever been my thing (but I keep trying for some reason).
SOTD = Au Couer du Desert, by Andy Tauer. Tauer’s incense scents are very much my thing… I have really liked or loved all of those that I have tried so far. Not in the mood for fruit on a sticky, grey Monday.
Tauer’s incense definitely inspires deep devotion.
Grey Monday here, too. I’m not really a fan of fruit in fragrance, usually makes me say blergh. 😉
Fruit is hit or miss with me. I can’t stand cherries in perfume, for example. But grapefruit scents and I seem to be best friends, as well as guava and pineapple. Maybe I need some acidity or dryness with fruit notes?
Yes! I tend to think of citrus like grapefruit as an “aromatic” note rather than fruity. Most anything that’s straight up berry or stone fruit isn’t gonna work for me. At least so far. 🙂
SotD = Infusion d’Iris EdT
Wore it yesterday as well. So perfectly satisfying, it was astonishing. Perhaps I’m heading for a period of perfume monogamy.
You smell wonderful 🙂
aw, shucks. thanks for validating my obsessive wrist sniffing.
SOTD – Edward Bess Spanish Veil. My bottle finally arrived, 4 months after I placed the order (Neimans was out of it for a while).
Very nice blend of sandalwood, vanilla and tonk. Me likes it 🙂
That sounds great and you have incredible patience! FOUR months!!
I pretty much gave up.
SOTD = Jo Loves Pomelo
Grapefruit (since I don’t recall ever having eaten a pomelo but I understand they share similarities) and Vetiver!
News! I stopped by The Body Shop yesterday and was able to purchase Virgin Mojito Shower Gel. It smells like a Mojito Mocktail without the mint.
I was at the Oculus (lower Manhattan transportation station) and saw a Kismi shop! I ‘ll need to make the Oculus a shopping destination or I’ll probably never get to shop there because when I am in that station, it’s usually because I am trying to get from point A to point B in the shortest possible time.
I saw the Sing for Hope pianos at 28 Liberty Plaza this afternoon. There must have been 20 pianos around the accessible sides of the building and inside around the back were perhaps 20 more. All the pianos were decorated, from a simple one with vines on the side, to one with what looks like decoupage of faces of famous people, to one inspired by Keith Haring (RIP), to one with a 3D penguin lounging on top of the piano. There were people playing them (as they’re supposed to), from one fingered Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, to what sounded like concert-level playing! The pianos will be there for a few more weeks and are worth a look-see!
We have something similar here in Montreal, decorated public pianos. You can hear some pretty good playing out there, sometimes even a quartet when people bring other instruments to play along!
We also just got a Kismi shop but I would have no idea what to buy in there.
You know, I just realized I misspelled it..should be Kusmi…it looks like several steps up from David’s Tea 🙂
Oh, Kusmi! Yes, they have very good tea, I like it much better than David’s. I was thinking of a Korean beauty supply shop that just opened here and thought that was the name of it. 🙂
I like Kusmi tea!
I have a whole vat of St. Petersbourg and BB detox.
I started exploring this brand with an assorti box that has 2 x 12 different teas. And I love their small 0,88 oz/25 gr tin cans for trying out.
Oh and the pianos are more useful than the cows, the dogs and even the guitars (I think I saw them in Austin).
And do you love Pomelo? I tried to read the Jo Malone autobiography, but the copy I borrowed was so heavily scented with Jo Loves Pomelo that I had to give up.
Oh, to be in New York in the spring. Thinking of all those pianos makes me happy. The arts are for all!
I love the Pomelo! I can see how the book could overwhelm as they must have infused the one page with Pomelo molecules. I was going to write a 144 character synopsis of the book because she tended to ramble on and on and on.
Hi all,
I’m wearing De Ma Mere by Shelley Kyle, with notes of amber, linden and beeswax.
