Happy Huesday on Friday! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance inspired by Pantone's Color of the Year for 2017, Greenery. You do not have to wear a green fragrance — be as creative as you like with the theme! "Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate."
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in the murky green L'Eau de L'Artisan. It is probably more of a summer green than a spring green, but that will work because we're expecting July weather today.
Reminder: on 5/26 we're doing Under the radar — wear a fragrance with minimal (or no) sillage, or something you consider a "skin scent". (Suggested by Hajusuuri)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Wearing my favourite green tuberose, Tauer Sotto la Luna Tuberose. Happy Friday!!
Nice fit, you smell lovely!
SotD: AG Ninfeo Mio–a wonderful green woody citrus fig. Hello summer.
Ah, lovely! So optimistic and refreshing!
You smell terrific and very green.
Nothing yet, but I’ll be going with Calyx today. (I find this one to be much different/more pleasant on freshly showered skin.). It’s probably more pink and fruity in the end, but it is lush, has some green too, and the color of the juice seems to qualify.
Happy Friday everyone!
The original Calyx (from Prescriptives) was super super tart and green..the re-formulated version from Clinique is definitely pink and fruity with shades of green and very pretty….Calyx is on my top ten list!
you smell great!
And I think I drained about 7 bottles of Calyx in the late 80s/early 90s…it was always a summer staple!!!
I’m going to have to try the Clinique version. It’s been 30 years since I smell the original!
it’s a cleaner more subdued version of the original.
Thank you! My bottle is from Prescriptives. I bought it about a year before Clinique took over, when I was on a mission to test all of Tania Sanchez and Luca Turin’s five-star scents. It had always been a favorite of mine on a blotter, and I’m glad I finally bought a bottle when I did. It has lost a little sharpness, but thankfully hasn’t turned yet.
As I alluded to above though, I have very oily skin (especially in the summer!) and if I put it on any time other than immediately post-shower…it smells almost rancid. A few years ago I posted on here that I smelled like a garbage can full of three day old fruit peels. It turns out that Calyx is just a bit temperamental for me and I have to get it just right.
have you ever tried the Clinique version? It is a bit more subdued…wonder if that would work better on your oily skin? My skin is extremely dry so I never got that “garbage can” effect.
Calyx does the same thing to me. Most of the time it smelled wonderful on my skin. Sometimes though, I would wear it, and I just plain old stunk. I think my skin tends to be more oily too.
I wore this earlier in the week and spent some time contemplating what color it was. Finally decided it was a very yellow-ish green with a swirl of rosy pink.
I’m in Maisia from Gabriella Chieffo range. It has fig, green and milky notes. Fits the bill of today’s community project.
Triple strength coffee.
Early morning workout in the hot, humid backyard. Loving it! !
So many birds, I felt like Tippi Hedren with my blonde chignon and Hermes bag. LOL. 😉
I suppose the chips and cookies I threw in the grass a few days ago when I cleaned the kitchen pantry attracted insects, hence the birds. Circle of life!
Soundtrack: Candy-O the Cars, so many memories! The soundtrack of 79/80. RIP Benjamin Orr.
Love the wonderful fantasy cover painting by Alberto Vargas! !! 🙂
Enough of the past!
Then, Hot Thoughts by Spoon on CD. Old school, y’all! !!
Galbanum is green and I’m wearing MUST de Cartier Eau Fine a lighter version of the original EDT, abundantly sprayed, so………
6 of 1, half dozen of the other!
501s !
Carpe Diem. Peace.
😀
Oh my goodness….so many blasts from my past! MUST!!!!! I had the perfume version which was very different from the EDT…came in a bottle that looked like a cigarette lighter and it was encased in a burgundy leather pouch…gorgeous….taking me back to 1984!!!
and send some coffee my way!!!
I love your “clean the kitchen pantry” style. ????
Share and share alike! Everyone deserves a cookie! LOL!
Dancing down the street with her suede blue eyes. I need to dig out my CD.
Saw Spoon in concert last week. They opened with “Hot Thoughts.” Good show!
In Zoologist Panda. Very green, damp and refreshing for another 90 degrees day. Happy Friday everyone!
Panda’s got pizzazz! I haven’t had it on skin; only sniffed it so far, but I hope to try it eventually…
We’ve got high humidity (90%+) along with the 90 degree temps today.
Stay cool, everyone!
🙂 Stay cool!
I really like that one. You smell fantastic.
Thank you.
SOTD Paco Rabanne L’Eau de Métal, a springlike greenish floral with a foam of expensive bubble bath (as pointed out by The Black Narcissus). I love it, and Métal which is virtually identical.
I am not familiar with the L’eau version but I wore Metal in the early 80s and adored it. You smell great!
Love Metal!
Diptyque Vetyverio is the choice today. Greener than yesterday’s Vert Piovine. I suppose that vetiver being a grass it should be green-ish.
Vetyverio is such a calming, agreeable fragrance.
Did some olfactory damage yesterday when I Hollyied it up with my luckyscent samples. Massive headache ensued.
Today I’m toning it down a notch to hopefully fully recover from my nasal indiscretions. Showered with Tauer’s mandarin Amber soap, which was quite enjoyable. Now I’m in Aroma M Geisha Vanilla Hinoki, the oil version. Pretty sure it has some green it. If not, I’m wearing a soft spring green linen blend boyfriend t-shirt with a pair of jeans that have floral and vine-y things embroidered up and down the outer seam area.
I hope I covered all my green bases and qualify for the community project today. Happy, happy Friday to all✌????
ha! I did not even realize it but my outfit is entirely green too 🙂
Hope you are feeling better after your hollying yesterday!
Motrin to the rescue!
Great SOTD, and your outfit sounds fabulous! How is the Tauer soap? Does the smell hang around on your skin post-shower?
No, the scent doesn’t really linger, which is fine with me. The mandarin is gently invigorating while the amber is very cuddly and kind, whispering in my ear, “Time to get up, everything will be all right” =)
I love Vanilla Hinoki. There is something herbally going on in there. Do you like?
I do, although I though I ordered the edp. The oil is very quiet, which is fine for today. I dumped the whole sample and my chest and then proceeded to rub it around, but I just get occasional wafts of it. Herbally is a perfect way to describe the green aspect of it. =)
Overachiever.
**snort** =)
Nasal indiscretions – too funny, except for the headache.
Also wore green coincidentally!
Go Green!
The green is probably the hinoki, a kind of cypress. I am sure I have another (at least) scent with that in but have not tried comparing them. I love the Geisha oil rollerball too.
Yes, I had to look up Hinoki since I was, as usual, clueless. Interestingly (or maybe not) LuckyScent has Hinoki listed as well as cypress. Maybe they don’t know either…;)
Damage? Your olfactory bulb is just adjusting to a new level of functioning and is resisting! Work that bulb! Do not succumb to its protests! Reek on! 😀
I think my olfactory bulb has blown =)
What a hollifying experience with the beadache! Glad you’re better!
I am NOT hollying today but rather hajusuuring as in more is more. Wearing 2.5ml of Clinique’s Wrapping (assuming this is vintage)…gosh, it has been almost thirty years since I have worn it…taking me back to 1990 walking down Broadway in December, snow lightly falling, the smell of roasted chestnuts and evergreen trees for sale on the street…heading to Macy’s to purchase my first bottle of Wrappings.
Keep calm and reek on!
peace love light xxoo
and happy Friday, y’all!!!!!
I’m certain you smell great!
As old as I am, and as long as Wrappings has been out, I still haven’t smelled it. I avoid the mall like the plague during Christmas shopping season, and then when I get the courage to venture back again, Wrappings is nowhere to be found.
I think it is now a limited edition and they only bring it out during the early Christmas season. And I am sure it sells out quickly as I think it has a bit of a cult following. But my guess is it has been reformulated so may not be as bracing as the one from the 1990s.
Even at Christmas you probably can’t smell it at the mall. It’s online only or very limited release in-store and only in a gift set with no tester 🙁 I’ve been stalking it for about five years and haven’t managed to snag a bottle yet.
I have an outlet mall near me with an Estée Lauder “Company Store.” The leftover Wrappings can usually be found there until about July. Unfortunately, I’ve only seen gift sets with a lotion too, never just the bottle. (But I think this may now be the case in department stores during the holidays too?)
yes, it is only sold as a set with lotion.
A year or two ago I purchased a fairly inexpensive bottle online from Macy’s–sometime in November it must have been–part of pre-holiday specials. (It did not work for me so I wound up passing it along.)
That memory is fabulous! Christmas time is just not the same without snow and biting cold. Add Broadway, chestnuts, and evergreen smells…beautiful!
Deva, now that I live in a place where I actually have to shovel the snow I hate it-LOL! I will gladly send some your way 🙂
I like it only around the holidays, so send me some then. Just don’t forget to send a beefy young man with a shovel as well????
Will do 🙂
What a lovely picture you’ve just painted! Wrappings has been on my to buy list for awhile. Your story makes me want to hunt it down right now. It’s funny how the scent was designed for Christmas but is so great in the hot summer.
You smell great too! 🙂
You know it is funny that I always associate that fragrance with winter and I think it was marketed as a Christmas present scent..but I agree…it wears beautifully in the heat as I am wearing it today and it is over 70 degrees this morning.
Yum! A FB of Wrappings has been on my list for years but it always sells out so quickly that I miss it. I wonder how the current formulation wears? I know I adored it when I was a teenager and went through several small bottles.
I wonder , too, about the current formulation. I hope you get your bottle this holiday season!!!!
That’s a great memory! Makes me want to sniff it!
🙂
Call me crazy, but Hajusuuri and “skin scent” seem to be an oxymoron in my mind…are you listening Hajusuuri? I’m amazed you came up with that for a community project. “Go Big or Go Home” seems more like a Hajusuuri project to me…just saying 😉
ha! this is true…
I must say I would LOVE a “Go Big or Go Home” community project as I tend to be a sillage monster….when I wear samples I am usually dumping on the whole vial….
We already did the Go Big or Go Home project but heh, it never hurts to repeat it!
it would be a good excuse for me to over apply more of my samples 🙂
It was nebbe fretting over a no fragrance policy at her new workplace that triggered this idea. With my scent-phobe relatives, ideas from other people will come in handy!
I love Wrappings. Weirdly, it’s the only scent I’ve found (I’m still hunting) that evokes the AZ desert for me – it’s got the pine and sage and is just the right amount of dry.
Fascinating! The image it evokes for me is winter and for you is a dry arid landscape…nice 🙂
Have you tried Olympic Orchids “Arizona”? I have a sample I am yet to try. :^)
LOL! Every time I use or read “more is more’, I want to spell it as MAWR is MAWR!
LOL!
I am sampling Atelier Cologne Cedrat Enivrant. I love it during the first minute – fresh, juicy, mouthwatering lime and mint. Definitely green and invigorating (although, like Robin’s choice, it’s more of a summer green than a spring green). Too bad this fragrance loses its juiciness so soon. Just after a minute it turns into a rather conventional citrus scent. Fresh and nice, but nothing special. It lingers, but seems to stay close to my skin: a couple of hours later I had to bring my wrist to my face to smell it. Although when I left the room where I sprayed Cedrat Enivrant and returned a bit later, I immediately noticed the fragrance. So maybe my brain just adapts to this scent too quickly. I’ll keep testing this one. (And I reapplied after 4 hours of wearing because I wanted to enjoy those juicy lime and mint.)
Those great “first minute” perfumes remind me of bubble gum when I was a kid. Great for the first minute and then meh.
Oh, perfect! Besides bubble gum, there’s also Juicy Fruit and Atomic Fireballs.
and the Chowards Violet Gum…..
I also love the first minute of Orange Sanguine. It’s like running through a 60 minute symphony in 60 seconds. Maybe that’s the Atelier trademark? I tend to agree that lots of them (particularly the citrus ones) are very similar in the drydown.
I love Cedrat Enivrant! My sister got hooked on it after smelling it on me. Guess whk is supplying her with the juice
I love Cedrat Envirant too. I agree that it doesn’t last very long, but hey you can always reapply. I took this on holiday with me last year to the Caribbean and found that it bloomed in the heat and was one of my ‘go to’s’ for the fortnight. Just as well I snagged a 100ml bottle in a sale. ????
I am wearing Escentric 2 by Escentric Molecules today. It strikes me as a bright, gin and tonic kind of green. First bottle I bought when I fell down the rabbit hole and I still adore it. Happy Friday!
I’ll have to try that one. I like Escentric 1 but the opening just fades too fast for me.
SOTD Chanel No.19 EDT. What a beauty it is 😀
Gorgeous!
so beautiful!
No. 19 always works!
Yes, beautiful!
My green SOTD is Mandarino by Monotheme (Libro degli Agrumi of Monotheme). I wore it yesterday, and I only had to reapply twice, which is great for a citrus fragrance. Throughout the day, I caught wafts of it when I moved my arms. Ahhhhhhh.
Sounds lovely! :^)
As I was skimming the sample sea this morning for Eau de Celeri, I (squirrel!!) got distracted… by a forgotten sample of DSH L’eau d’Iris.
So I dumped some of the Iris on. Okay, I didn’t expect it to be a whopper by any means, but really I could only smell something very, very faint: just a whisper of iris if I had my nose glued right to my wrist.
What went wrong?…
I found that one pretty faint too, FearsMice.
Squirrel! Love it. That’s what we say in our house. We are a cat family, but I LOVED the movie Bolt and made my kids watch it several more time than they would have liked.
I’m in Kenzo CA Sent Beau. I just ordered a new mini from ebay.
You smell just lovely!
D&G Velvet Vetiver from a sample and it is very green. More fig centered than vetiver, but the result is simple and very pleasant.
I will have to get around to trying that, I like fig.
Wearing Allure Edition Blanche from my husband, soooo good. Ready for the afternoon with the kids.
It is indeed so good! Have a fun afternoon.
Nice! I should wear mine.
I was stumped by today’s challenge until the Wrappings discussion above. Then, I remembered that I still have a bottle of Bobbi that is similar enough to be a summertime flanker. It’s a smidge aquatic and cucumber-y but that just makes it more suitable for today’s theme.
Well, I started the Friday project early by wearing vintage Chanel 19 EDT at bedtime last night, and had Big Plans for today’s scent (Azemour! Mediterraneo! 19 EDP!). But there was my decant of Gris Montaigne sitting there, looking so inviting, and I couldn’t resist. It has the barest wisp of oak moss, so just barely meets the green challenge … but mostly, it is just the thing for a Friday that promises spring at last. Happy Friday all!
GM! Elegant and friendly.
Yes! Perfect description.
Was planning to wear Green, green, green and green, but it’s gray, gray, gray, and gray today, and only in the 50s, so I didn’t really feel like such a cheerful green. Went with Vert d’Encens instead. Hoping to finally get over jet lag this weekend. We got back from Jordan on Sunday evening, and were back to work on Monday morning, so we’ve had no time to adjust. But it was a wonderful trip and worth all the exhaustion!
I have a 4ml of Vert d’Encens I received when I purchased Vert des Bois.
You smell fantastic! !!
If I was made of money (as if! !!), I would have purchased both!
🙂
Thanks. I love Vert des Bois as well. They are both gorgeous, and I really liked the collection as a whole.
I read your comment very quickly and thought, oh ya, I am grey grey grey and in my 50s too. 😉 !
My son is coming home next week from Jordan–he’s been in school there his last quarter. I cannot wait to hear all his stories. I hope you had a terrific visit. I’ve been there a couple of times for work, but never as a full-time tourist. Did you get to Jerash?
Jerash was a highlight! I’m surprised more people don’t know about it. What kind of work do you do that you’ve been there for? Jordan is definitely worth a tack-on as a full-time tourist. We couldn’t believe how much there is to see and do there.
I’ve never made it to Petra, but I hired a driver for a couple of days for a conference who felt sorry for me and one afternoon he helped me escape to Jerash. I was blown away. It is so huge and the past is so accessible. My son told me that a family he visited last week had the “crown” of an ancient column from Jerash in their living room. About 30+ years ago one of them had visited the site with friends and they just took the artifact and put it in their car. My very proper 16 year old whose been steeped in my own reverence for history was horrified–but the family was wonderful and he loved them.
Both of my visits were related to my human rights work. The first was part of a peace initiative between Palestine and Israel (if you are guessing that must have been decades ago/mid 90s you’d be correct–much has changed since then), and almost 10 years ago I was helping to coordinate a women’s rights conference in Amman.
I’ve heard Jerash compared to Palmyra.
Happy to hear your trip went well!
Staying cool with Corsica Furiosa. “You must return here with a shrubbery…”.
The AC is broken and I’m waiting for the repairman. Hoping it’s an easy fix 😀 .
Corsica Furiosa!!????????????
You smell wonderful! Good luck with the A/C.
I have been very worried about you not having this on your travels Deva! Now that it’s hot, it’s in heavy rotation here!
I know! I’m missing it dreadfully! Every time I see it mentioned, it’s a knife in my heart! On the flipside, so HAPPY so many are enjoying it. It’s a real beaut!
Corsica Furiosa is soooo good. Good luck with your AC.
Twins! 🙂
“Ni!”
Yes!
I read up on that one, given the love it gets here…one person described it as a “chypre on steroids”….sounds like my kind of thing 🙂
Hermes Un Jardin sure le Toit. I get just a little fruity sweetness to begin with, more pear than apple, and a lot of grassy green and now after a few hours an increasingly noticeable but pleasant soapy sort of orange blossom is coming along to sweeten up the grass again. This is great stuff, a lovely summer scent. And I like the bottle which won’t look like anything else on my tray when I purchase it after this little sample is gone. Thanks again to the generous NSTer who included this in the package.
I bought extra samples of this because it is that lovely. You smell great!
You smell fab 😉
If you’re an ebay shopper, 15 ml bottles of the Jardins are usually easy to find and very affordable.
Your description sounds wonderful. I keep thinking I’ve tried that one and didn’t care for it, but I may have it confused with something from Atelier Cologne. The next time I’m at the mall, I am definitely going to give it a(nother?) chance.
All you lovely NSTers! Isn’t this a wonderful place?
I chose Au Dela by Bruno Fazzolari my SOTD. I actually visualize the color green when I think of yhis scent. Happy Friday all!
Perfect choice!
I’m wearing Chamade in extrait de parfum. Spring in a bottle, and quite an opulent spring at that. It’s wonderful, and like lots of fragrances I own, I don’t wear it nearly enough.
You smell great, I recently found a vintage edt and felt in love.
Chamade is one of my absolute favorites, you smell gorgeous.
I’m wearing Atelier Jasmin Angelique today. This is my second time sampling it. The first time, I wasn’t sure, but now I am really enjoying it. I don’t think this qualifies as a green scent, but the bottle is green.
I love Jasmin Angelique. I have been using my sample. I am thinking a full bottle may be in my future.
https://www.fragrancenet.com/perfume/atelier-cologne/atelier-cologne/cologne#282728
I say go for it…3.4 oz for $74 with coupon is like getting it for free 🙂
That’s a pretty good deal! I did get a fragrancenet coupon in the mail… hmmm…
Sephora sells only 1 oz for $85 so you are getting more than triple the amount for $11 less!!!!
so tempting, but I had a perfume expenditure earlier this week. Such a good deal though!! And its so pretty….
SOTD : 4160 Dirty Honey. I am flying cross country today, so wearing something subtle.
Heading to Vancouver to sniff with friends.
Have a safe and fun trip!
Fun! Enjoy your trip! Are you meeting up with NSTers? PS – you’ll be arriving just in time for some nice weather.
The closest thing I have to Pantone Greenery is Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli, so that’s my SOTD. I’m also on theme in a pair of green pants 🙂
Happy Friday, everyone!
You smell great!
Love your screen name. 🙂
I know we’ve talked about petrichor before, but I can’t remember if this 2015 article, “Making perfume from rain,” was highlighted. Surely it must have been, but perhaps worth re-upping:
https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2015/04/making-perfume-from-the-rain/391011/
I’m noticing that Ms. Barnett is also author of a well-reviewed book, “Rain: A Natural and Cultural History.” Has anyone here read it?
Also, has anyone tried mitti attar?
I have mitti attar from White Lotus, and I know John Steele of Lifetree Aromatix carries it as well. It’s a fascinating scent!
I have a small sample of Mitti attar too from the same source as Holly. The fragrance that uses it most artfully for me is Zoologist Bat. I do not have a well schooled enough nose to detect whether it is actual mitti or a clever synthetic.
Holly and stinker_kit, thanks, I checked White Lotus but they don’t seem to have it right now. There’s some on Amazon, but not sure how to judge quality. I’ll check your other source and the supplier that Rapple likes.
Aftelier is selling some, which I would trust, but I don’t need 5 mls, really (not cheap!).
nozknoz, Chris of White Lotus Aromatics has adjusted his inventory recently. He has always kindly and promptly responded to any inquiries I’ve posed, and many of their products are sourced directly from India. John Steele has an excellent reputation, but I’ve not yet purchased anything from him. There are a couple of podcasts/videos featuring him readily available.
Rappleyea’s aromatherapy source is in MD. Road trip? I’m game.
Holly that would be amazing!!!
Best petrichor ever, Behind the Rain by Paul Schultz.
I’m really looking forward to trying his stuff at some point! Asphalt Rainbow has a great petrichor note as well.
Have meant to try both of those, thanks!
I haven’t gotten my hands on mitti attar though I have wanted to. Last I looked, Perfumer Supply House carried isolated geosmin, which is a chemical present in the petrichor scent.
Looks like they still have it:
https://perfumersupplyhouse.com/product/geosmin-1-in-dpg/
https://perfumersupplyhouse.com/product/geosminneat/
Could be fun to play with.
Thanks for the reference, sweetgrass!
Good morning! I’ve read Rain. It’s a very broad sweep of the subject, a potted history that covers everything from climate to weather forecasting, history and art, clothing, smell…so it’s a general survey kind of book and some chapters were more interesting ( to me) than others…the chapter on scent, for example. Clear writing style and informative in so much that it gathers together a lot of material in one place.
Thanks, Kanuka!
FRIDAY FRIDAY……FRIYAY!!!!!! 🙂
On a Atelier Pomèlo Paradis kick this week…..Can’t get enough of it for some reason. I’ll get back to some variety at some point….
Have a great weekend y’all!
Enjoy it! You smell great! 🙂
Will you be doing another video soon?
Friyay — I love it 🙂
FearsMice kindly reminded me of Eau de Celeri yesterday, so I have that on for today’s theme. I forgot how fond of this I was…green and grassy with bracing galbanum and vetiver with a dash of salt.
Oh, yay! It really is nice, isn’t it?
Vintage Aliage – straight up green – since we are getting a preview of summer here in NYC. I wore this mid 80s and loved it. This is vintage, but still isn’t quite the oomph I remember. I had the bath powder and everything. It kept me cool in swampy D.C. summers. My best friend wore it too (she was first)
Interestingly, I find that Aliage plays well with certain other scents I have, most especially Rosine Une Zeste de Rose. I may try it with other things this summer.
Wow! the comments are really taking me back to some of my old loves…vintage Aliage…my mom had a bottle or two or three in the 70s and we shared everything perfume wise…loved that one…I recently tried it (the sample bottle hidden behind the counter)..not the same as vintage but somewhat recognizable….you smell fresh and bracing 🙂 !!!
My mom gave me a bottle a couple of years ago, and I found it akin to a watered down version, which is why I went straight to eBay.
Bracing is exactly it!
Oh yes, Aliage is a great one!
I had made up my mind to wear L’Artisan Parfumeur Premier Figuier today for the Friday theme, but when I looked through my samples I discovered I also had Fou d’Absinthe, and I became torn! So I split the difference and wore one on each wrist. I’d forgotten what a great evergreen Fou d’Absinthe is. It reminds me strongly of the south of France in the summer: bright, dry pine and a hint of juicy citrus. Premier Figuier I remembered better: milky, sticky green sap with cool woods.
I have both of those too… hadn’t thought of them for today’s project. How do they smell when you are wearing them together?
They smelled great at first but now ~4 hours in Fou d’Absinthe has swallowed Premier Figuier, and made the latter very hard to perceive. I still get wafts of that milky greenery periodically, but FdA is definitely the dominant scent.
Fou d’Absinthe is great. I wore it early this week and still craving for it.
Premier Figuier was my pick too. I distinctly remember the first time I smelled it. The first word that popped into my head was, “GREEN!”
Wearing two earns you bonus points, I think.
Safari vintage purse spray, in the lovely cut glass bottle. Smells fantastic. Will work in today’s heat!
YUm! YUM! YUM! smelling good…really good!!! and the drydown…mmmmmm………
Definitely! Your comments yesterday about Safari got me to wear this. Forgot how great it is!????
I have a travel spray of Atelier Figuier Ardent in my purse and plan to put it on after exercise today. This is a woody green and doesn’t have the overly sweet coconut note of many other fig fragrances.
One trick pony alert!
Still surfing The Sample Sea, y’all! Reeking Havoc Day 60!
I actually have some sets of things (organized!) amongst the random crapola, happy little pods swimming nicely together, and I KNEW, I really knew I have Green, Green, Green and Green and figured I’d do a Miller et Bertaux sampling spree today.
Welp, Green is awol and I started looking in earnest for it and realized oh no! I can’t handle that wave, so I’m wearing CBIHP To See a Flower, which actually works for today’s project yay!
Happy Friday, all. 🙂
Better to swim safely than getting clobbered by a wave 🙂
I know I have Green, too, but it must be in the Big Box, which I don’t feel like diving into at the moment, either.
Yes, my Sample Sea has felt like a tsunami at times and I’m not comfortable with what feels like a hot mess. I have tried to accept the chaos or at least ignore it, but haven’t yet achieved that so I’m being pedestrian and trudging through…
Balmain Vent Vert. I’ve worn quite a few “greens” for this week’s project, and I’ve been loving every one of them.
Oooh you smell great!
Oh, another one I have not worn in ages.
Today I am a one woman lavender bomb. Aching legs and joints called for direct application of Lavender EO to said parts. Since we do not mess around in this household, it is White Lotus Lavender Mailette that I am blessing the noses of all I encounter today. There is something very evocative of growing plants about Lavender EO, along with a toasty caramel note. So green, with a purple haze……
Oh gosh I love Lavender essential oil…I bet you smell heavenly…I will also recommend lavender absolute from Eden Botanical which is more of a perfume than a medicinal /therapeutic lavender…I have yet to try their lavender mailette…..
I love the upper elevation lavender from Eden Botanicals. It is a bit sharper and cleaner than other lavenders.
Ah yes! that one is good too!!! I highly recommend their lavender sampler pack to get a feel for all the different types of lavenders.
This morning I started in Eau de Merveilles (from a sample). This really is becoming a ‘no brainer’, especially in warmer weather.
And I just sprayed on Corsica Furiosa, from a sample.
This is probably one of the greenest perfumes I have ever tried and really fits the Pantone Colour of the Year imho.
It feels like an enhancement of the smells of my surroundings (i am still in northern Italy in the countryside).
Its a bit linear, but so refreshing.
Ok, that’s it. I must try Corsica Furiosa. I’ve wanted to every time someone posts about it, and your description seals the deal. Especially after being reminded of a long standing free shipping code at Luckyscent.
I’ve bought fresh tomatoes on a stem this week (is that the righ word?) and Corsica Furiosa in the first half hour reminds me of that smell. But it soon calms down to a more mellow green-ish scent. I really recommend it to anyone who loves ‘greens’.
Tomatoes on the vine! That’s pretty much my favorite scent ever. Thanks for the easy persuasion. ????
Yes to Hermes! EdM really is a no-brainer. It smells great!
I am being seriously “creative” with today’s green theme. I am on a violet jag (No. 19 Poudre yesterday not withstanding). It started with the Wing & a Prayer scents that Pixel sent me. So this morning I am in Lipstick Rose because Elizabeth reminded me about it yesterday, and already have sitting on my desk a decant of DSH’s Quinacridone Violet for when I am ready for a perfume break. These are powdered, sugared or ribboned violets, with a bit of fruit in the Quinacridone. They have none of the earthy, leafy steminess you get from Kerbside and others like it.
Oh, I think I have a sample of the QV, must pull it out.
I’m in L’Ombre dans L’eau today. It’s so sharp and green and refreshing in the heat. I know there’s rose in there and I can smell it, but that greenness really persists for me- although maybe just a tab darker than the green in the photo above.
Happy Friday, everyone. Hugs to all!
That’s a great choice!
That’s one of my favs for summer. I never thought of it as having rose, either, until I saw it on a post about rose fragrances. It’s an example of a composition that has such a clear and beautiful signature of its own that I don’t even want to parse it.
I have that in edp and love the experience when it transitions from green to rose. On me it takes about 30 minutes. It’s pretty breathtaking. That said, I think of it as kind of somber so don’t wear it much. I should wear it again and see if I can break the association.
Oh, this is one of my favorites for sping and summer. You smell great!
It’s the exact color of ivy, that scent!
Another hot day here so picked Cristalle edp. I didn’t really notice how pervasive green notes are in my collection until this project. It’s also my favorite color ????
I stopped by Osswald yesterday which was hosting a release of the new Amouroud line which is the lux collection of Perfumer’s Workshop, of all people! They all seemed fine enough but nothing called out to me. (One of them is a near dupe of Black Orchid.) But, it does make me want to revisit Tea Rose which I haven’t smelled in many years.
When I think of green scents I think of chypres, which I love. So if you have chypres you do indeed have a lot of greens scents! 🙂
Twins! I didn’t realize Perfumer’s Workshop was still a going concern. I had a massive bottle of Tea Rose that I used as a room spray until the sprayer broke. I should get another one – I paid about $10 for 4 oz = spray with abandon! I wonder if they make a candle…
Hey twin! I don’t really know any of their other scents aside from Tea Rose (which my mother wore until she found it too strong). It’s a weird jump from $10 discount bottles to $200 niche bottles at Osswald.
I’m starting out with La Chasse – such a bright and cheery floral.
Since I know it will fade in a couple of hours on me, will layer some Tam Dao under Philosykos later on today for some green and brown goodness.
Thanks to SheriG and Robin, the ladies who inspired this pairing!
Love La Chasse. You smell wonderful!
Thank you most kindly!
Late to the party, I have a lot of my plate these days.
SOTD my “green” scent Acqua de Colonia by Lorenzo Villoresi.
I hope Baby Buddha is feeling better!!
Hey, better late than never. Hope things and kiddos are well.
Same as above – I hope you and your kiddos are doing better. 🙂
Happy Friday, guys!
1) Warm weather for the next week here in PDX! Woo hoo! So much needed!
2) Am in Cucumber+Melon spray by Bath and Body Works. This is a really fun tonic to lavish all over to wake the blazes up! Plus, you can re-apply and not overwhelm. Perfect for a warm spring day.
3) Went to bed late last night- cleaned the walls and did cutting in for painting job tomorrow!
Good luck with the painting Ede ! (Hope I assumed correctly.)
Cucumber/Melon is fantastic!
Went through many tubes of the body lotion, shower gel and salt scrub. No sugar scrub back in the day!
Cheers! 😉
It is indeed Ede! 😀 I am very excited to complete the project this weekend! Honestly the hardest thing has been the prepwork- it is rather tedious. But you must enjoy the process in art of any sort.
Last summer when I bought this, I thought it a bit stronger than I would like. Now that it has some time to sit in my drawer, it has mellowed a bit and is this perfect fresh green-ish scent. I can going through the shower gel and lotion!
oh that’s a good one…a nice cheap thrill and it has been a B & BW staple for a while in their stores. You smell refreshing! And good luck with all the house painting.
What I’d love to find is a cucumber that’s not mixed with melon. I love the smell of cucumbers and searched in vein for a *soliflore* some years back with no luck. Anyone? (And not just perfume – functionals, soaps, candles, etc ?)
Phaedon L’Eau de Cocombre is not melony-y but it’s minty.
Ooh! That sounds great. Putting on my list.
Spring has finally sprung! I am in the fresh and pretty, Le Galion Iris. Their website lists top notes of green mimosa, and ambrette seed.
That one is nice!
Hollying it up here again (Holly, have I mentioned how cheerful I find your name? Just writing it makes me happy) although I am devoutly hoping I will be done before day 60 (!). Today’s batch is far, far better than the rest of the stuff I’ve tried this week. I’m sampling Chypre Palatin, Fig Tea, L’Attesa, and Tabac Rouge. The Fig Tea (Nicolai) is a bit wan and watery for my taste but the others are great. I might put them on the “FB someday” list.
For today’s project I’ll be wearing Chypre Mousse, and I am surprised nobody else is wearing it yet. It’s my favorite green.
Well gosh, glad you get a boost from my name! Do you have particular associations with that word?
Burl Ives singing “Have a holly, jolly Christmas” is the first thing that comes to mind. Weird, right?
Nope, pretty much par for the course! Holly: jolly, holiday, Holly-Go-Lightly, Holly trees, Christmas. That pretty much covers mindless joy, suppressed sophisticated sexuality, spikiness and spirituality. It took me a while to grow into 😉
So what’s the origin of foxbins?
I lived in NYC in the ’70s and moved a lot. Phone numbers weren’t portable and so I got a new one frequently. I didn’t have an answering machine and lived alone so there was no reason to call my phone, so I could hardly ever remember the number. Someone suggested using the letters on the phone dial to spell a word and foxbins was born.
Chypre Mousse would have been my choice for today but I couldn’t wear with the hellish heat we’re having.
Omg, so late today. I crawled back in bed after the kids were off to school. The cold they’ve been passing around the house like a game of hot potato has made it’s way to me. Sore throat, sneezing and runny nose. Blech. Okay, I’m done whining.
Green fragrances, I love them! To me green means refreshing and easy to wear…many of the Ateliers, the Jardin line, and anything with wonderful bergamot!
Today is The Different Company’s Divine Bergamote. Yes, it’s beautiful, because: JCE.
Happy Friday all!
You smell beautiful! Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks! And thanks!
Hope you kick that bug soon. Bergamot has super powers as far as I’m concerned. Here’s to feeling better!
Thanks! I hope it does have super powers!
Feel better 🙁
I have noticed lots of Ateliers mentioned today 🙂
Thanks!
On a side note, I got my Dame postcard samples in the mail today- 5!! Along with a handwritten note, it made my day.☺️
He packages things so beautifully, too. Class act, Jeffrey Dame is.
Jeffrey Dame is such a class act and so approachable.
Ha! excellent! he is an incredibly generous perfumer…and a very lovely man 🙂
Which ones did he send you?
Earth Mother, Desert Rose, Lily of the Valley, New Musk and Bergamot, Jasmine and Labdanum.
I can’t wait for my sniffer to get back to normal!
Let me know if you like the LOTV – I received this sample as well, and it’s really not my thing. I’ll send it to you if you’d like. 🙂
Oh, bummer. Get well soon!
Hope you feel better soon! Getting a nice perfume package always helps.
Late West Coast entry! Mine’s kind of odd and random, but that’s how life works out sometimes, I guess. I’m wearing Tauer’s Zeta. I’d thought about my Frau Tonis Linden, because it reminds me of the lovely green trees last spring / early summer in Germany. But then I thought I’d rummage through my samples, and found Zeta, and was reminded that I wanted to try it again to see if it smelled more like linden to me this time. So, Zeta it is! (That said, I now know it doesn’t smell more like linden to me. I love Tauer but this one still hasn’t grabbed me.)
Love Frau Tonis Linden! Gone to spray mine.
I really Zeta, but then again, I don’t really know what linden smells like in real life.
SOTD = Hiram Green Arbole Arbole
The color of the juice in RL is more a forest darking green than th mossy green in Fragrantica. Arbole Arbole on me is an earthy resinous green patchouli. I am boldly wafting 4 sprays from my bottle and smell fabulous, if I may say so myself. It is now in a vanilla tonka drydown which I am enjoying immensely. Some people memtion a Play-Doh accord and I don’t get tbat at all. I bought a large sample and split it. YMMV.
I’ve been looking forward to trying this one in NYC next week, but checked Twisted Lily’s site and they’re out of stock ????
Harrumph!
Gi, it doesn’t hurt to ask if they still have the tester hanging around (email them in case they have to bring it from offsite). I need to start thinking about little goodie bags for when I’m in Vancouver in July.
I was almost sold until you got to “vanilla tonka drydown.” I quite disliked the vanilla in Voyage. Safe to say I can skip this one?
I’ll let you be the judge of that :-). The patch is a constant presence so that it never gets to purely vanilla tonka.
I was thinking that Dilettante would work today. This particular Pantone color feels a bit murky to me, and I feel that Dilettante is similarly murky and doesn’t achieve the bright radiant lift I expect from orange blossoms. I feel that Arbole Arbole is Dilettante minus the promise of orange blossom. It’s interesting to read others’ take…
I got a split portion of Dilettante but it is currently languishing in basement storage. Although I generally like orange blossom, I was scarred for life with by Arabian Oud Ghroob (shuddering just thinking about it).
I love Arbole Arbole for the color of the juice alone. Of course it smells nice, too. Though I am plagued by the Play-Doh association.
Your avatar color matches the Pantone green! I love green. My bedroom walls are in a light apple green – calming and soothing. My bedspread is a Costco special olive green.
I almost wore this sample today, but was distracted by other pretties. I’ll need to try it soon….and keep a nose out for the Play-Doh.
Regardless, the color of the juice is so, so beautiful.
For some, the Play-Doh accord is a desirable feature 🙂
Happy Friday! Joining in by wearing mark Earth. Yup, that mark, the Avon one! I got it super cheap and the bottle is cute. Bottle is a lovely olive green, but the juice is just sweet cucumber and melon-y and grassy. Don’t wear it often as really, it smells more like a body spray but sometimes that’s OK!
That is not what I’d expect “earth” to smell like, but I’m probably taking it too literally!
This morning I am wearing O de Lancome. I admit I wasn’t too creative since when I first heard of the green color assignment I thought immediately of this pretty pale green bottle. It’s a light and citrusy scent but has interesting depth because of the herbs (I get basil) and the flowers–who can complain about beautiful honeysuckle and orange blossom?
Btw I really love that shade of green and can attest it must be the “in” thing; just the other day I saw this article on Houston architectural design awards. Check out this dining room and its color!
http://www.papercitymag.com/home-design/design-awards/houston-papercity-design-awards-winners-revealed-west-ave/
Oops, you have to scroll down to the 12th photo–sorry.
Imagine that green room with perfume bottles in those cabinets instead of plates.
But it’s worth it. I saw it and l laughed out loud it made me so happy!
Ooh, but the color is in a lot of the other photos too!
I was wondering if anyone would wear O !!! another blast from my past…the intense version which came out many years later was equally as stunning but then sadly discontinued…
http://www.thenonblonde.com/2013/06/lancome-o-de-lancome-vintage-perfume.html#.WR84ST8ksdU
this was the O that wore in the late 1970s…it was chockfull of oakmoss back in the day and I loved it 🙂
Ah, I remember that bottle!
Thanks for the link! Some years back I’d fall asleep imagining my dream house, designing it room by room. My imagined office walls were exactly that shade of apple green! (Use of Small Space, Creative Tonic.)
I’ve been wanting to try O de Lancôme for yearssss. I always end up on the fence because I prefer my greens fresh and crisp and free of oakmoss. Your description sounds absolutely dreamy. Will I be safe if I blind-buy the current version?
I didn’t think the current version was very oakmossy. That being said, I believe there’s no such thing as a safe blind buy.
You smell great!
I must be the oddball here, but O just smells very plastic-like on me. Not good, and not sure what it is that’s coming across that way. Tried it twice, different testers, no dice. Has anyone else experienced this?
Still have on a bit of last night’s bois d’armenie, but I am going to attempt to find the greenest thing I have, the last little bit of an inoui sample.
Oh man, I absolutely adore Inoui! It’s absolutely perfect for the project.
Inoui is a great choice
Memory is Kindness today. Lovely if short lived. I just spray more!
Oh, so glad someone wore it! I should have.
Enjoying FM’s Geranium pour Monsieur today. Not a strictly green scent, but the mint note in the opening fits the theme.
Speaking of mint, anyone tried A*men Kryptomint? I was hoping they’d do 7ml travel sprays of it (I have one of Angel) but no dice.
It’s called Kryptomint? Love it!
It is! I’m wondering if it’s similar to Geranium PM – both list geranium and mint as notes.
I can’t remember if you’re in the US or not, but I was recently looking for A*Men flankers on ebay and there were lots of Kryptonite samples to be had on the cheap. Haven’t smelled it myself but the FM sounds lovely! I love geranium scents, too. Does it skew masculine?
It’s billed as masculine but I find it quite unisex. There’s mint in the opening, then mostly geranium and spice with musk in the background. I like it a lot – very nice in warm weather!
I’ve tried it. It’s a very minty version of A*Men. It reminded me of after-dinner mints-not really herbal minty like GpM. Wasn’t my thing.
I smelled this at Macy’s. Nope, not for me.
I’m wearing Ostara today, and while it’s not literally a green scent, I think it matches the theme in the metaphorical sense.
Good choice! I always get an almost physical sensation of cutting through the stalks of daffodils with that one
Ooh, love the description of L’Eau de L’Artisan…
I am wearing L’Artisan Eau du Fleuriste, which I love more every time I wear it even as I watch my small decant get smaller every time I wear it…
There are so many early L’Artisans that I wish they would relaunch, even if only as LEs!
Hello, all. I’m joining your green day in spirit only-you all smell wonderful, but I wanted something else today. I’m in La Pausa: it strikes me as a lean perfume, one that has not a single thing more in it than is needed to say its truth. Its “colour” always seems to me to lie in that elusive shade between silver-grey and mauve, and it goes on my skin dry and spare. It’s a housework day: I’m wearing my oldest jeans and a trucker’s shirt, and I I wanted the elegance of La Pausa as I mop and dust and try to avoid sucking knitted mice up the vacuum cleaner.
Your green fragrances improve the world. Your colleagues and associates should be grateful! Be well, everyone.
I wore La Pausa the other day for the first time and got wafts of all kinds of green notes. I’m not sure if I was wearing the edt or edp. Am I alone on this? On my skin it smelled irisy, but the sillage was green green green.
I don’t get green, but I can see how it would be possible if it throws more to the iris for you. It is very beautiful, isn’t it?
That colour reminds me of Wasabi and I don’t have anything wasabiesque. Wearing Olympic Rainforest from a small sample . This starts off as a quite herbal green ( i thought of fresh rosemary for a minute or two ) then it goes a bit astringent, eucalyptus-like. Then it softens a little, becomes leafier and, finally, woodier. But it remains a bit herbal, the kind of smell that clears your head. Winter here.
That sounds interesting!
It’s not like what you described with scent, but wasabi is great for clearing the head in the literal sense. I swear, if you get a several bites of it to do that thing where it stings your sinus cavities, it can help fight off an oncoming case of crud. Plus, it’s enjoyable in that masochistic manner shared by all spicy foods. ????
Ah, that wasabi sinus burn. I have a homeopathic nasal spray that has capsicum in it. I started to look forward to that shooting, but fortunately fleeting, burn. Talk about masochism! And it wasn’t even that helpful for my congestion!
I think Olfactive Studios has a perfume with a wasabi note. Just looked it up–Panorama, and in the photo, it’s exactly today’s shade of green! Wonder if anyone wore it today. (I’m reading up from the bottom.)
SOTD Parfum d”Empire’s Corsica Furiosa which I think is very green.
Corsica Furiosa!!!
Just based on color, I was going to wear Freschiiissimo but it also is a favorite for weather in the 90s, so a win-win for me
SOTD is Olympic Orchids “Carolina”.
Notes: pine, hay, tobacco, lavender, grass, magnolia, kudzu flower, honeysuckle, jasmine and tonka.
This one smells slightly odd at first, then a minute later it’s very lovely, and an hour or two afterwards it’s only a skin scent, but a fabulous one.
Oooh, that sounds fantastic. I’ve tried a lot from Olympic Orchids, but not that one! I’ll have to put it on The List.
Ooooh, interesting!
Happy Friday!
My scent for today’s project is Guerlain Cologne du Parfumeur. I think its crisp citruses and herbs are a perfect match for the description of Greenery as a “fresh and zesty yellow-green.”
Thank you, dear commenters, for the kind wishes yesterday! ???? It was a good day.
Not sure if you saw my post, but I’m happy to send you a sample of Leather Man. My email:
laugsb at sbcglobal dot net
I did, but it was so late I figured you might not see if I commented. Thanks for the generous offer, but Dame is actually across town from me! I just gotta get around to sampling LM… ????
I love that shade of green…
Wearing some vintage Tendre Poison from 2002, looking at the batch code, on my left arm and some JM Lime, Basil & Orange on my right…
Tendre Poison smells exactly as I remember it. I am truly thinning my perfume herd now and am debating rehoming it. I rarely wear and could make a decant if I want to sniff it for reference. I feel at times like I need a reference sniffing library just in case I am feeling nostalgic and want to smell a certain fragrance.
The Lime, Basil & Orange if from one of the JM spray coffrets and is probably a good 10 years or so old. I thought it smelled off at first but I think I just never cared for this one and am smelling it as intended. To me it smells like eucalyptus and a little bug spray.
If you consider rehoming it, I may be interested. That said, depending on the bottle you have, you might make a small fortune selling it.
I have really specific memories of Tendre Poison wafting through the classrooms of my high school – except that it was released long after I graduated (!?)
Ha, I *almost* chose L’Eau de L’Artisan myself this morning! I was going to cite the seaweed note as proof of its extreme greenness.
But I went with another green favorite for sultry temperatures, Herba Fresca. I love its mintiness and its ability to keep my skin smelling clean (in a softly herbal-floral way, not a harsh laundry-musk way) all day.
You smell great! Herba Fresca is probably my favorite summer scent – should have worn it myself. Perfect for today!
Thanks! It’s close to, if not at, the very top of my list of summer scents.
I love HF. I bring it to the beach in the summer and spray lavishly-very refreshing.
Hey almost twin 😉
Happy Friday everyone! I’m scentless as yet, as I finish my breakfast on Saturday morning. Winter has most definitely arrived here, although I rather expect Kanuka is getting worse weather in the south of the country. I’m very jealous of your descriptions of warm weather, we’re heading into winter after a rubbish summer.
I’m thinking I’ll go for Fille en Aiguilles, it’s my idea of a warmer winter scent, and the scent of pine needles is still a link to green trees 🙂
Lots of snow on the hills this morning and big flakes falling outside. I hope your mother is keeping warm ( no snow in town yet )
Ugh. We had a miserably short summer last year followed by the longest, coldest winter I can remember. I feel for you 🙁 Enjoy the SL!
Was stunned to walk outside late this morning to not only sunny, but WARM, weather. It seems ages since I felt warm sun on my skin. (It’s been since last September, which might as well be an eternity.)
Wearing Cristalle edp. Like No 19, it took me a while to come around to this one, but I had a strong craving for it today, and it’s perfect. Unfortunately, I’ve got a dab mini and it begs to be sprayed. I tried to decant the mini, but the juice won’t come out! 🙁
Speaking of Chanel, my H’s bday was last week and I bought him a sample set of masculine classics, which arrived yesterday. He sprayed Chanel Pour Monsieur and got that contented, smitten perfumista face. 🙂 I may have created a monster! (In the best way possible 🙂 )
Having a ball reading everyone’s comments today. To my mind, btw, Cristalle is a sparkling chartreuse. Come to think of it, the color of Chartreuse, the beverage (is it a liqueur? I can’t think of what classification it comes under.)
What other classics were in the pack, kpaint? :^)
Hooray for warm weather (finally!) and Chanel!
Yay on the Chanel! I love when I get my guy something g and he loves it. He loved the OJs samples so much he says he’s buying FBs lol.
Also yay for warm weather!
Does the menthol & camphor from the Salonpas patches on my lower back count?
Cause they are drowning out the spritz of Jardin Sur Le Nil from this morning 😉
Lol., ????????
I was with my sister last weekend, when she was wearing one of those on her knee. I commented on the pronounced wintergreen aroma. 🙂
Hope your back feels better soon!
I’m all too familiar with that smell, unfortunately, though I kind of like it. I hope your back feels better!
I think camphor may be the perfect scent for that shade of green.
Loving the green in Parure edt (batch code 1979) If you loved the greens so prevalent in the 70s & 80s, this is one to try. Not really matching our weather which has dipped back into the 50s today, after some summer like temps. Oh well…????
I ADORE Parure. You smell wonderful!
Thank you!
Wow, haven’t had Parure in ages but I loved it. You smell great.
Thank you!
I wasn’t even thinking about the community project this morning when I put on DSH Pandora. I don’t think it qualifies as a green scent, but the juice is green, so that ought to count, right? 🙂
Why not?
Oh gosh yes…..Pandora is SO GREEN to me…the “mother” of modern chypres!!!
SotD = Prada Infusion de Vetiver from a new sample. It smells gauzy green. Very pretty, but I do not need more of this one.
I like today’s Pantone Greenery. My color choices go most often to the purples, blues, and greens, sometimes pink, the occasional orange, but very rarely red and yellow.
Robin smells great today. I like L’Eau de L’Artisan too. It usually smells like green-cologne-by-the-ocean on me, but sometimes it’s all-calone-all-the-time. Time to give it a first spritz of the warm weather season to see how it sniffs.
Thanks for being here, NST, you’re the bright spot in my Friday.
We have similar color palettes, but I admit I do not like that shade of green at all — it is almost as upsetting to me as orange.
I went with Hiram Green Shangri La. Why exactly a combination of unripe peach and oak moss and a little spice says yellow-green to me, I can’t really explain, but it was the first and last perfume to spring to mind.
It might just have been on my mind from last week, because it was one of two perfumes I considered for Lessons Learned Friday. I feel as though it helped me understand Mitsouko (modern edp), which the first time I tried it just felt like a slap in the face. I settled instead on Estée Lauder Knowing, in part because I have some lovely vintage from the lovely Laura, and have been looking for an Occasion on which to wear it. It helped me understand Clinique Aromatics Elixir, which was an even harder slap in the face, in part because I tried it very early in my trip down the rabbit hole. (Unfortunately, I completely forgot to wear Knowing and to post on Friday. Drat!) I still don’t find either Mitsouko or AE particularly wearable, but I feel as though I understand their various components and respect their aims.
Anything with oakmoss in it = green (at least to me 🙂 )
I wasn’t feeling very well and still had work , so I spritzed several sprays of EA Green Tea . I’d forgotten to see what the theme was , but inadvertently synchronized anyway.
Serendipity!
