Monday scent of the day 5/15

Posted by Robin on 15 May 2017 356 Comments

hyacinth in cobalt glass

Monday, Monday, can't trust that day! Plus, Chocolate Chip Day, International Day of Families and Peace Officers Memorial Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm barely awake in L'Artisan Parfumeur Jacinthe des Bois.

Reminder: 5/19 will be Huesday on Friday, episode 2...wear a fragrance inspired by Pantone's Color of the Year for 2017, Greenery. You do not have to wear a green fragrance — be as creative as you like with the theme! "Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate." (Huesday was originally suggested by TheGoddessRena and Olenska, and you can see episode 1 here.)

Pantone Greenery

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing Amouage Bracken Woman and have been puzzled for hours as to whether I like it or not. It makes a statement, but I find it a tad too linear I guess. It’s quite green so serendipitously my fragrance fits this weeks theme.

I am getting really behind on Amouage! Is it a must-try, in your opinion?

It’s interesting, but I don’t thing it’s as good as the older Amouages, but much more worth your time than that Blossom thing or Lilac something. I like it a lot more than those two but less than I did Myths Woman. Persolaise liked it much more than I did. I guess I find it just a tad too crude.

I have not loved *any* of the newer ones I’ve tried…I think Jubilation (both) were the last I loved. But I really have skipped quite a few.

I think the Amouage style suits me much more than it suits you, but the last few have a certain coarseness for want of a better word. They are very loud as well. Still, I did like Myths Woman.

Butting in to say I was surprised by how much I like Bracken Woman. I kind of love it even. It goes from berry to green to something a little more very refined hippie on me. Hated hated hated the newest one. But Bracken might be worth a try.

Several of the Amouages go into headshop territory on me, so I wonder if this one will as well …

I’ve worn it a few times and can’t decide either. I don’t hate it and the longevity is amazing but there’s something that feels a little unfinished to me. I think I just like the opening and find it annoying that the richness doesn’t stick around. It’s about the texture, somehow. Like biting into a gorgeous, pillowy macaroon that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste.

I think in our own way we are trying to say the same thing. I’m not much into macaroons at all, but I can kind of see what you mean. I feel it lacks layers. The complete opposite of Gold, which has layer upon layer upon layer…

Just to be clear, it’s a texture thing rather than a scent thing. Bracken isn’t gourmand at all, but it does go from pillowy and chewy to a bit flat and bitter. Still, I can’t decide I don’t like it.

Hadn’t realized another Amouage was out and looked up the notes. It seems interesting, but reviews are split between good and “meh” and no one really agreeing on what it smells like. Ha! I may have to get a sample of this one.

Gold is my favourite, but I like quite a few of the others as well. I think it was either Honour or Journey that I didn’t like at all. But Lyric is beautiful and Epic is very interesting, which sounds like damning with faint praise, but that is not my intention.

I enjoyed my sample of Bracken Man, which did remind me of the earthy-greeny smells of the bracken-covered hills I roamed a a child. (Astonishing freedom, in retrospect). The ‘Man’ scents are quite different from the ‘Woman’, from what I’ve read, and you might find it useful to try the one if you don’t like t’other. :^)

That one reminded me of a *very* formal French garden, all mown grass and clipped yew. Green, but over-formally structured and perhaps a little bit *too* edited for its own good. That said, I think it’s great for this week’s theme.

You have a point. Formal, structured – a Chanel green. It makes me think of those skillfully trimmed bushes – topiary. When I first tried Bel Respiro, I was put off by its artificiality, but now I can see there is charm and elegance in it.
I still prefer more ‘natural’ greens, but this one is interesting too.

Yes POAL, if he likes patchouli.
I just tested Galop d’Hermes, roses and leather.
I will purchase it when it hits discount.
Montale Black Aoud, is roses and agarwood.
            Sample before purchasing. Enjoy! !

I love and wear Galop (so he doesn’t get to share ;) ) but I’ll look into the MCG. I also want to try Burlesque for myself.

Hi there! I really like Eau de Soir and Soir de Lune- these I like to think are sister fragrances- really well done chypre perfumes that smell so fresh, yet enticing and elegant.

I also like the cologne series, with my favorite being Eau 1 and 3. But it really expensive for being a cologne- Comme des Garcon offer better value for money, as do L’Occitane and of course 4711.

SOTD- Demeter’s Clover which is really reminding me a lot of my beloved discontinued Grass from 1994 (not the reformulation)

Yesterday I went to the mall and decided to follow hajusuuri’s “more is more” philosophy at Sephora. Seven sprays on the left wrist of Eau de Merveilles on the left wrist and seven sprays of Ambre de Merveilles on the right wrist. Happy to report to madtowngirl and tiffanie that they both are beginning to grow on me.

Also took the advice of Oakland Fresca and popped into Banana Republic to sample their new fragrance collection. I liked them all and my favorite was Vintage Green 78 (no surprise there). The best part is they are incredibly affordable ($48 for 100ml) and make small bottles of each ($25 for 15 ml) and a set of the entire collection in travel sprays ( 5ml x 5 for $38) which goes to show that there are some decent fragrances out there in a highly affordable price range. Glad I had the opportunity to sniff these.

Well, if I did not have over 300 samples and various full bottles/decants floating around the house I might have considered the Vintage Green 78 in travels size…but for now I think I have enough juice that I am more than satisfied sampling…it was just nice to know that there is still stuff out there that would satisfy me for daily use that is also highly affordable.

      Wow! Seven sprays of each!
When I wore EdM last week I did get a “you smell nice” from a colleague which is always nice.
I have to say even though I have a 15 ml of the L’Ambre, I don’t find myself reaching for it often. I think of it as my “pretty” Amber and I actually prefer my ambers “richer” and “deeper,” i.e.: Ambre Sultan and Ambre Precieux.
I just sent away for a sample of the Eau Claire because I have not actually tried that one- insert shame faced emoji- will report back!

I think it’s 75ml for the $48, but still, wow! crazy cheap. I tried them and the leather was really the only one that had me hanging on.

and the leather was my second favorite one :)

I loved Grass so much – I used to wear it layered with B&BW Lilac body spray. I must have smelled like my parents’ suburban backyard but I got a lot of compliments at the time!

Oh goodness the original Grass was fabulous…they brought it back around 2013ish but I am pretty sure it was reformulated as it did not smell the same to me…I wore Grass and Heaven and even OM (which came out later) and I got compliments all the time on all three……I must have drained 20 bottles of Heaven….

I get a sweet greenish vibe from this unusual scent, as well as the pear and olive ( oil) in the name
So glad I bought a small bottle of this a few years ago.

    Life is beautiful.
    Life is good.
    Life is busy for everyone.
Triple strength coffee helps with that. ;)
All is fine with me, I am hopeful that everyone here can state the same.
On to perfume. No scent yet today, but I had a free day yesterday and I went to the 2nd largest mall in America: King of Prussia.
Driving too fast (sorry I should not, but I love love LOVE driving fast) on the Blue Route and Schuylkill Expressway going there.
In all fairness, people were leaving me in their dust. LOL
It is so large, smelled lots o’ stuff. Purchased Tom Ford Vert des Bois, perfect for later this week.
2 things : went to the Hermes boutique. Galop , roses and leather, will purchase when it hits discount.
Cuir d’Ange -watery vetiver and leather. Meh. Sorry Robin, I know you are a fan of JCE.
I have to teach the handsome SA who looks great in a slim suit, French?
    In Hermes? !!! LOL:)
I could NOT find Mon Guerlain.
Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom. No !
    On Mother’s Day, Guerlain?
Nordstrom only had Shalimar and Terracotta, but all the overpriced (YMMV) skincare and make-up.
    More later.
    Carpe Diem. Peace.

Oh Bear, glad to hear from you again. You were in my old home town (grew up in Devon). I remember King of Prussia when it was an outdoor mall and the anchor stores were JC Penney’s and Sears. But they did have Ladybug and Villager–the stores of my teen years!! Love it there! I am also waiting for Galop to pop up someplace affordable for me…..till then, you smell great (as I sip MY triple strength coffee)!!!

My Parents, Sister, and I would go every year in November/December for holiday shopping.
The anchor stores were Gimbels, Lit Bros., John Wanamaker, and Strawbridge and Clothier, at various points.
AND they had a circular wheelchair ramp that spanned the 2story structure. Before it was required by law.
      Good times! !!

        There are many temptations.
A huge new food court, Superdry clothing, Bvlgari ($80k) rose gold and diamond necklace in the window, Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta (when I win the lottery I’ll purchase a basketweave wallet). LOL

Guerlain Vetiver is lovely. A couple of weeks ago, when I came to pick a parcel from a delivery service, somebody there was wearing it (pretty sure it was one of the men in the line, although I was not sure which one). I rarely smell other people’s perfumes, and the cases when I can actually identify the scent are even rarer, so this was a very welcome surprise.
I should wear it later this week! :)

A great scent. I posted below about not smelling my perfumes after some time on antibiotics. The Guerlain Vetiver was the first one that give me concern. I was expecting instant olfactory gratification, and only got the citrusy tops notes, with little of the tobacco or woods.

Good morning NST! I’m a long time reader of this blog. What a great and knowledgeable community. My perfume journey started back in the 1980s – in college I wore Opium and Chanel No. 5 pretty exclusively, even Giorgio. I Many friends I met introduced me to Calyx, Poison and Aromatics Elixir. All sprayed with reckless abandon!
I really got into perfume during the early 2000s. A Creed rep from Neimans visited my gym, and from her I learned about layering fragrances, and I discovered so many other fragrances when I ventured into Neimans. 24 Fabourg was the next acquisition, and I will probably wear that as my SOTD. Reading this blog has led me down the road to rediscovering vintages, trying things I had only read about (like Joy and Fracas). Other houses I like are Amouage, Chanel, Tom Ford…I do sample a lot of niche and I’m trying to put a halt on blind buys. Perfume is such a wonderful hobby, and every time I think I’ve found “the one”, another scent comes along and that is how my collection grows! Have a wonderful day!

It’s a hyacinth morning! My SOTD is Jo Malone’s Blue Hyacinth, received yesterday as a Mother’s Day gift, and one of the limited edition Bloomsbury Set fragrances. I love it — it smells just like a fresh, real hyacinth at the start and for quite some time, then slowly morphs into a more general “flower shop” scent. I’d love to compare it to Jacinthe des Bois!

I have a sample of EB’s Apollo Hyacinth and (ducking) I prefer the JM Blue Hyacinth. Luckily, as you say, it’s the more affordable option. But my husband was told it is selling out quickly. If you have a local store where you can get the JM, I’d grab it. And it was still available through Neiman Marcus’ website last week.

Man, every time Vol de Nuit comes up I kick myself a little. It just sounds SO like my kinda thing, and yet I can barely smell it at all. Two different samples, one from TPC and one from STC, one vintage and one not… and they both smelled like wet cardboard so faint I could barely pick up anything. Pretty sure it must be my nose. :( :(

Oh, mals, that is just so sad! I get that wet cardboard note from Dior Homme when first sprayed, but never from VdN. If you could smell it the way I do, you would definitely love it. Have you ever smelled it on someone else? I’m wondering whether it could be your skin rather than your nose.

There’s plenty of green in the top of VdN though – petitgrain and galbanum. More pronounced I think in the vintage one. And you smell gorgeous!

I’ve been wearing Vol de Nuit (in vintage extrait form) a lot this past week, and it’s a beautiful shape-shifter on me. Last night it was warm spiced violet Guerlinade. You smell great!

Well, I can already say I’m a bit upset that I don’t have Corsica Furiosa with me for Friday’s Community Project. It’s warming up here in coastal NC and I have been thinking about my beloved CF for the last several days. I was planning on heading back to Florida at the end of my current contract in June for a couple of weeks, picking up my perfumes and hiking boots (which I also forgot!) but now am considering heading directly to Utah if I can swing a contract there. Once I’m out west, I may be there for a long while…

SOTD is the lovely BoE EDP, because I can. Never had such a large bottle (I got the 2.5oz bottle) and I feel like I’m already making a good dent in it. It’s just SO GOOD! Happy Monday to all. :)

Thanks! I remember you liked this one. I just love that opening blast and haven’t come across anything similar. Also, PdE STILL has the best spray mechanism I’ve come across. I thought the Chanel sprayer might give it a run for its money, but NOPE! That PdE dispenser is absolute magic =)

Now that Mom is gone, my sister is giving a year or so to locums. Utah is high on her list, too. Hiking, biking, Zion, visiting Best Friends.
She and I can visit each other more easily, too!

SOTD is dregs of Indochine worn last night watching Mr. Bourdain in Laos. He reminds me a little too much of my exhusband, so small doses of him are all I can do.
I pulled up lots of pictures from my sisters and my most recent trip there and emailed them for her to smile at when she woke up this morning.

I’m making a pretty good dent in my 2.5 oz Misia edt and kind of wishing I’d bought the massive 6.8 (or whatever it is) but that seemed crazy at the time. I figured 2.5 oz would last well over a decade… we’ll see!

I got an email from Chanel after my bottle was delivered, asking me how I would rate me experience. I shot from the hip and let them know I didn’t appreciate making a large monetary purchase and not even getting samples of others In the l’exclusifs line. Pffft! They could care less, I’m quite sure.

Wearing Iris Silver Mist. I put it on because my olfactory system is in a funk. I could only smell certain elements of other perfumes, and often just a whiff. I’ve been on antibiotics for a skin issue that didn’t respond to more conservative treatment. I read that people can lose the sense of smell from a variety of medications. I am also suffering from seasonal allergies that are relatively new for me. The ISM is a standby that I know has good projection and longevity, so I prayed that I would at least smell that. It’s missing some of the coldness that separates it from other iris perfumes, but it’s there, at least.

Has anyone had this experience? Please tell me there is improvement after the medications are finished- and, how long does it take?

On a more pleasant note, my daughter took me for Mother’s Day Tea yesterday. She’s made it a tradition. We stopped at Lolli and Pops, which is in many malls apparently. It was like a fantastic dream a kid would have, and also many of us. They didn’t have chocolate marzipan rolls, but they had the pretty decorated marzipan shapes, lots of international candy, and endless bins of just about anything you could imagine.

HOWEVER! One of only a handful of Mrs. Fields extant, and I had to purchase 2 White Chocolate (it is a thing-next! !!) Macadamia Cookies.
Ate one yesterday, the other is in the fridge calling my name.

As far as I understand, and of course I don’t know which antibiotics you are on, it’s most likely that those symptoms will disappear. But if you want a “real” answer ask you doctor. He or she ought to be able to give you a much better answer.

Hi Wendysue! I’m sorry your sniffer is out of kilter.

Do you find that a scent on your skin smells about the same as it does sniffed from the bottle? An antibiotic might change your baseline skin scent along with your nose’s ability to smell.

I used prescription medication for many months and eventually realized that my sense of smell was slowly diminished. Good news is that things gradually returned to normal when I was able to stop the medicine.

It was no fun at all. Food tasted flat, perfumes smelled weak and strange. My doctor suggested that I not worry about it too much (hard!) and look for things that were appealing to smell and taste.

I ate food with fresh herbs, especially fresh basil. Bitter greens like kale were very appealing. For scent I used essential oils such as lavender, ylang ylang, peppermint, and a “thieves” blend of clove/cinnamon.

I agree with austenfan – consult your dr first since every antibiotic has different side effects and if you’re experiencing something that’s bothering you, it might be the antibiotic and/or your seasonal allergies and hopefully your dr can help you sort it out. Feel free to email me! Sending hugs …

SOTD is No. 19 for the first time today thanks to a sample from a wonderful NSTer. It is the EdP. Holy cow. It’s rare I just LOVE something first spray (especially a Chanel, they usually have to grow on me a little), but I could seriously go buy a whole bottle of this today and I am convinced it would go fast. I am now afraid to use my little sample because I’ll be so sad when it’s gone! I can’t wait to try the EdT now as well- I believe many of you all prefer it? Anyway, this will definitely go on the ‘buy as soon as humanly and financially possible” list. I look like a total weirdo sitting in my office sniffing my arm every 5 seconds. 8O

SOTD Chanel no. 5 eau premiere. After acquiring many samples I finally caved and purchased a FB and have worn it for over a week straight! I think the last time I wore a fragrance for an entire week was about a year ago for a NST challenge when I wore Guerlain Terracotta for entire week. I’m sure I’ll switch this one out soon but for now I am certainly enjoying it!

    1) SOTD: Blue Fig (Illume) Fresh and lovely for this spring day!

    2) Binge watched Versailles on Netflix. If you are looking for a really good costume drama about the birth of the French Modern State ( and yes, it actually did start with Louis 14th) that has been seasoned with quite a bit of sexiness, then may I suggest this series. All of the principals are good, but especially the actor who plays Phillipe. There are quibbles with artistic license(The Chocolate Baby was a weird, unfounded rumor) and with interiors ( Shot at different chateaux, the series gives an impression of a plush interior. In reality, Versailles was swampy, chilly and it stank at the time of Louis 14) BUT overall an excellent series to dive into!
    3) The sunshine returns on Thursday! Hurray! So a sunny weekend- perfect for painting! I am so excited!

Seriously though- add it to your queue AND try to savor it over a week! I binged over a weekend and I am going to watch it again this week. It’s a bit R rated, so be warned (but it’s a French production, so…) but it’s not over the top with that stuff. Characterizations are superb. I think you will really like it.

No worries about the R rated…nowadays even things on mainstream TV seem risque, right? I will try not to binge watch but I am notorious for that…Mr. CM8 says I have a “TV addiction”.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I am now watching youtube perfume reviews on my TV too….many of Mr. CM8’s “recommended for you” sci-fi movies are now being updated and replaced with perfume reviews videos and he is NOT happy about THAT!

    SOTD: Chant d’Aromes

Hmm… I’ve been pondering which, if any, of my fragrances I see as that green (which I like). I strongly “see” scents as colors and so far I can only see that color as a co-player with another main color.

I hope you all have as good a Monday as I’m having! :-)

AG Nuit Etoilee is my SOTD, and currently drinking a cup of lemon ginger tea.

Saturday, I cracked one of my teeth. Actually, I’m not sure when it cracked and broke off since its the molar on the top right hand side of my mouth, I just started feeling the jagged edge of it on Saturday night. Yesterday, I was very cautious and ate soft foods.

Today, I’m going to dentist to see about how to get it fixed.

No scent yet, because I’ve decided to finally clear off my dresser, which has been piled with junk for a long time. I want to take some of my bottles for spring/summer and display them, so I’m not hunting around so much in the cabinet before deciding what to spray. Path of least resistance…I’ll go for the ones on the dresser first and maybe have a small set of samples in a bowl to continue to force me into going through them.

I agree. Especially niche. But, I’m trying to pick the right times and dive in…

I need a tray. I’m actually losing a pretty green Le Creuset flat dish temporarily.

Finally put on The Soft Lawn, which was an impulse buy I later kind of regretted. It’s nicer today. The tennis balls seem to be less pronounced.

My dresser attracts everything and anything! I weekly have to clean it up or else it just gets nuts. I like to rotate fragrance based on the seasons as well, and also have at least one bottle in the bathroom that I rotate every few months.

I woke up this a.m. trying to remember this week’s theme, but couldn’t. Am right on target nonetheless testing LL Lys 41. Green lily with green stems and leaves. If I were to associate it with a color, it would be the topmost paint chip in the photo.

SOTD–a very vintage Occitaine jasmine…I finally tracked this one down this year (thank you Evil Bay). I first wore it back in the early ’90’s (actually finished a bottle) but then couldn’t find it. Just a straight up pretty jasmine with a few other flowers thrown in to fill out the bouquet. I smell pretty….oh, so pretty….

Very windy here today but sunny and beautiful outside. Hope all of you have a wonderful day no matter the weather.

It’s an EDT from La Guirlande de Julie collection just called Fleur de Jasmin. I bought a bottle on my first trip to Paris from the Occitane boutique on Rue Moufftard (this was before Occitane was on this side of the Atlantic…I had never heard of them). I have since learned that it was also sold in the French section of Epcot Center at Disney. Long discontinued it popped up in an ebay search and I jumped on it. Still smells great and takes me right back to wonderful times.

Hello busy Monday. But, that’s a good thing. The sooner this short week goes by the better. I get to WFH half day Friday and the hubs and I leave for Scotland Sunday. (visiting my sis and BIL)

I’m in Amouage Journey Woman. I used to only wear this in autumn, but now I love it in spring on slightly warm days. Hot days would make the honey in it a bit suffocating though.

I’ve also got on Chanel No 5 body cream, but it’s faint. My MIL (who is not very bright and extremely flaky) went to Italy and France recently for a vacation. She asked if there was a perfume I wanted and of course my mind exploded at what was available to me
so I spouted off a few names of places and saw the (general) haze in her eyes grow thicker so I decided just ask that she get me some macarons from Laduree because I thought that was mainstream/ safe enough for her. When she got back I got boxed macarons from a grocery store and Chanel No. 5 body cream, which I’m 99% certain certain she got at the airport considering the “duty free” on the bag. It’s a little funny, but hey, I do give her credit for being kind enough to get me something perfume related. I’ve been wearing the body cream after showers each night and the scent lingers a little the next day. My bed and night clothes have smelled FABULOUS and the hubs likes my powdery wafting scent. I liked No 5, but couldn’t handle it so I leaned more towards Eau Premiere (No 5 lite). However, this body cream. Wow. I LOVE this stuff, which is bad because I don’t want to know how expensive it is to get more when I run out.

That body cream IS fabulous. My No. 5-wearing mom has begun to wear only the cream, and it’s so luxuriously scented that she always smells just wonderful. I think it runs $85 on the Chanel website.

I used to never really mind body creams too much because I thought it was a waste, but this is definitely changing my mind. (I’ve also tried Amouage body cream samples that I loved.) It’s mostly gone by the next day since I just put it on at night, but it lingers a LOT on sheets/clothes (even after a washing on some clothes) and it’s very comforting. Maybe I’ll have to put this on my Amazon wishlist since I know the in-laws go by that for buying me gifts for birthdays/hols.

Reached into the bargain bin today, and am happily wearing Queen, by Queen Latifah. It was a blind buy, and practically free (0.5 oz clearance buy for less than $6). It’s not edgy, it’s not innovative, it doesn’t have highly unusual notes or an advanced delivery system. It’s comforting and smells good on me, though – kind of like what I hoped Angel would smell like. Not as boozy or chocolate-y as Angel, and doesn’t make me feel as if my perfume is trying to snatch the very breath out of my lungs and asphyxiate me on the spot (I might have had an issue with Angel, it’s true).

SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP

It’s a gorgeous green, in both scent and color. I needed spine-stiffening and No. 19 sure came in handy!

SOTD yesterday was another greeny – Aftelier Bergamoss EDP. Gorgeous, and soooo good while it lasted. I have two of the travel sprays, one of which was from a super-generous NSTer. One of them is alarmingly low. But I will not hoard! If you have an unloved travel spray, i would be happy to swap for it!

How does No. 19 smell in comparison to the Poudre? I liked No. 19 Poudre, but not enough to keep it. I’ve tried vintage 19 in the purse sized silver canister, but it smelled “off” to me. Is the current formulation something good to consider? Thank you for your advice!

My No. 19 EDP is as modern as it gets. I would like to think I got my current bottle in 2015 or quite possibly 2014 but definitely not older than that. I have vintage 19 EDC which smells more leathery. I haven’t worn No. 19 Poudre for so long I couldn’t do a fait comparison. Hmmm. Early starts = late postings. It’s 7.30 a.m. here and I’m in my office getting ready for my 8 a.m. lecture. Or not, actually — I’m posting to NST. I SHOULD be getting more ready than I am, maybe, but I’m pretty much organised, and I have a coherent story to tell, so, meh…

I wanted to join so many of you in a green beauty today, but my hand kept drifting towards my Dries van Noten, which isn’t go to see out the winter at this rate. Well, when it’s gone, it’s gone. I smell like a complex kitchen, all spices and vanilla and something slightly boozy and I love it.

BTW, Dakkie seems none the worse for munching on his knitted mouse, if that’s what he did. well, that is to say, he didn’t yodel any more last night than has been his wont since his mother died, and he’s still holding us ransom for Temptations every time we go to the bathroom, come into the house, talk on the phone, or sometimes, just breathe, so we’re inclined ot the view that he is a perfectly well Dakkie. Good.

Be well, all. You smell wonderful in your spring greenery.

Happy Dakkie is doing well and not suffering mouse revenge/jacked up GI tract! And you just can’t go wrong with Dries, ever…????

Hi everyone, it’s all been a bit hectic over the last few weeks, and I haven’t been able to keep up with you all.

I had three weeks overseas, a week back at work, and yesterday started a 4 month secondment at a different government department. This department came into existence 6 weeks ago, so there are lots of things not yet in place, making it quite a challenge to see where my team fits in. My head feels a bit full at the moment, so I’m thinking that the calming effect of Tea for Two will be ideal for today.

Sorry for posting again and late to boot, and you may all know this already, but I was just doing some sniffing and saw that EL had a NEW Bronze Goddess EDP that is completely different from the eau fraiche, which I have and love. It’s not for me, but fans of Terracotta may want to give it a sniff because it seems like a affordable dupe. that being said, sometimes my nose is a bit wonky =)

I sprayed it thinking it was the newest iteration of the eau fraiche and imagine my surprise when I got a big creamy white tropical flower…

Was the EdP long lasting? For me Terracotta disappears in a matter of 1 hour. Bronze Goddess eau fraiche has been one of my loves for years.

It’s lasting longer than I want it to. ????

Had I know it was a completely different perfume, I wouldn’t have done a full spray. But yes, I would say it’s a bit *strong* and lasting. I rarely do more than 2 sprays of anything, so this one seems to really project with just one spray. If I had done two, I would have had to scrub it. Not that the perfume is bad persé, but because I’m an anomaly in the perfume world since I don’t like BWF Perfumes.

I wore Jo Malone Nutmeg&Ginger in the morning and Oriza Legrand Cypre Mousse in the afternoon, both from samples. I like the Jo Malone better, but Cypre Mousse is interesting enough.

I wanted something light, sophisticated and cheerful today and reached for Eau Claire de Merveilles, as I failed to find my sample of Mary Greenwel Lemon. I think it is time to organize my samples, again …

SOTD = FM Dries van Noten, from the generous Hajusuuri and the sample stash. I’ve been puzzling over this one most of the day. Not sure if it fits the weather I have, which is mild and sunny, but rather windy. I’m thinking that maybe Dries van Noten is conjuring up rainy autumn days in my minds eye…

The first of a week of greenishness. SOTD (I nearly forgot to add) was Hermes “Un Jardin sur le Nil”.

    Top: carrot, grapefruit, tomato and green mango;
    Mid: orange, peony, bulrush, hyacinth and lotus;
Base: labdanum, iris, cinnamon, musk and incense.

In retrospect my first ‘perfumista’ purchase, although 2 or 3 years before I got into the subject. The fresh beauty of this scent wowed me, and it didn’t hurt that it evoked memories of a Nile cruise a few years earlier.

I was carefully unscented today as I had several appointments with new acquaintances and did not want to raise eyebrows . . . yet.

So this evening I’m feeling ever so fragrant in 24 Faubourg edt with thanks to flopper for the inspiration.

Hope everyone had a marvelous Monday in one way or another.

Wow, super late today, but I wore a green perfume, Green Oakmoss by Soivohle. I picked it up along with a bunch of sale perfumes in 10ml. I really enjoy her style.
