Monday, Monday, can't trust that day! Plus, Chocolate Chip Day, International Day of Families and Peace Officers Memorial Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm barely awake in L'Artisan Parfumeur Jacinthe des Bois.
Reminder: 5/19 will be Huesday on Friday, episode 2...wear a fragrance inspired by Pantone's Color of the Year for 2017, Greenery. You do not have to wear a green fragrance — be as creative as you like with the theme! "Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate." (Huesday was originally suggested by TheGoddessRena and Olenska, and you can see episode 1 here.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing Amouage Bracken Woman and have been puzzled for hours as to whether I like it or not. It makes a statement, but I find it a tad too linear I guess. It’s quite green so serendipitously my fragrance fits this weeks theme.
I am getting really behind on Amouage! Is it a must-try, in your opinion?
It’s interesting, but I don’t thing it’s as good as the older Amouages, but much more worth your time than that Blossom thing or Lilac something. I like it a lot more than those two but less than I did Myths Woman. Persolaise liked it much more than I did. I guess I find it just a tad too crude.
http://persolaise.blogspot.nl/2017/02/persolaise-sixty-second-scents-bracken.html
I have not loved *any* of the newer ones I’ve tried…I think Jubilation (both) were the last I loved. But I really have skipped quite a few.
I think the Amouage style suits me much more than it suits you, but the last few have a certain coarseness for want of a better word. They are very loud as well. Still, I did like Myths Woman.
Butting in to say I was surprised by how much I like Bracken Woman. I kind of love it even. It goes from berry to green to something a little more very refined hippie on me. Hated hated hated the newest one. But Bracken might be worth a try.
Several of the Amouages go into headshop territory on me, so I wonder if this one will as well …
I’ve worn it a few times and can’t decide either. I don’t hate it and the longevity is amazing but there’s something that feels a little unfinished to me. I think I just like the opening and find it annoying that the richness doesn’t stick around. It’s about the texture, somehow. Like biting into a gorgeous, pillowy macaroon that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste.
I think in our own way we are trying to say the same thing. I’m not much into macaroons at all, but I can kind of see what you mean. I feel it lacks layers. The complete opposite of Gold, which has layer upon layer upon layer…
“Like biting into a gorgeous, pillowy macaroon that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste.”
That actually sounds intriguing!
Just to be clear, it’s a texture thing rather than a scent thing. Bracken isn’t gourmand at all, but it does go from pillowy and chewy to a bit flat and bitter. Still, I can’t decide I don’t like it.
Ahha! Okay, I get you know- and I can see how it can “Gee, do I really like this?”
Hadn’t realized another Amouage was out and looked up the notes. It seems interesting, but reviews are split between good and “meh” and no one really agreeing on what it smells like. Ha! I may have to get a sample of this one.
Do! It’s worth sampling, and not every Amouage needs to be as good as Gold 😉
Haha, I’m not actually a huge fan of Gold. I like it, but it’s not me. I love Journey, Epic, and Lyric.
Gold is my favourite, but I like quite a few of the others as well. I think it was either Honour or Journey that I didn’t like at all. But Lyric is beautiful and Epic is very interesting, which sounds like damning with faint praise, but that is not my intention.
I enjoyed my sample of Bracken Man, which did remind me of the earthy-greeny smells of the bracken-covered hills I roamed a a child. (Astonishing freedom, in retrospect). The ‘Man’ scents are quite different from the ‘Woman’, from what I’ve read, and you might find it useful to try the one if you don’t like t’other. :^)
Am I the only one whose brain converts “bracken” into “brackish”?
Yes! 😉
SOTD is Chanel Bel Respiro. It’s not my favourite Chanel or favourite green scent, but today I am enjoying my sample.
Snap! We smell gorgeous 🙂
🙂
That one reminded me of a *very* formal French garden, all mown grass and clipped yew. Green, but over-formally structured and perhaps a little bit *too* edited for its own good. That said, I think it’s great for this week’s theme.
You have a point. Formal, structured – a Chanel green. It makes me think of those skillfully trimmed bushes – topiary. When I first tried Bel Respiro, I was put off by its artificiality, but now I can see there is charm and elegance in it.
I still prefer more ‘natural’ greens, but this one is interesting too.
In sisley’s Izia this morning
Inspired by a rose I got for mother’s day, I am realizing I don’t have my rose in my perfume wardrobe. oh well..this sample will have to do.
French press coffee in regular strength (missing Bear where has he been)
I miss Bear too 🙁
Thanks CM8!
Happy belated Birthday!
Make sure you take notes, with your multiple sampling.
It helps!
Cheers! 😉
HEY! Glad to see you are alive and well.
Yay! so nice to see you and hope that is all well…I miss your daily reminders to seize the day 🙂
And that it’s OK to have triple strength coffee!
There you are! At the risk of hijacking this thread, I was hoping you could recommend some rose-centered perfumes for a man (perfumes targeted at either gender are fine.) I recall that you’re a big fan of POaL?
Hello!
Yes POAL, if he likes patchouli.
I just tested Galop d’Hermes, roses and leather.
I will purchase it when it hits discount.
Montale Black Aoud, is roses and agarwood.
Sample before purchasing. Enjoy! !
I will chime in and recommend Gallop is unisex just in case some the ladies want to try it. I happen to love it, the only Hermes (so far) that has made me swoon.
kpaint, have you considered Maria Candida Gentile “Elephant & Roses”?
Aramis Calligraphy Rose is wonderful, kpaint!
What about Les Parfums Rosine, Rose d’Homme?
Thanks for the suggestions, all! I’m looking on behalf of my husband, whose daily scent is Calligraphy Rose. He’s tried the Rosine masculines (Twill Rose is a favorite.) I love and wear Galop (so he doesn’t get to share 😉 ) but I’ll look into the MCG. I also want to try Burlesque for myself.
So good to see you back Bear!!! I missed your daily comments and triple strength coffee. But here you are again!
I was worried you were kidnapped by gym bunnies and being held in a dungeon somewhere. I hope whatever you *were* doing was as much fun. :^)
LOL !
Yes some fun was involved, but too much is never enough. Or somethin’ like that !
Cheers Koenigsberg !! I hope you and TOMK are doing well.
Do you like the Izia?
I do , I tried to win a bottle during their giveaway but I wasn’t lucky
Thanks! I read most days, I appreciate your missing me.
Kiss the Buddha and Monkey for me. 😉
I will! My little monkey who is 2.5 asked me this morning for some coffee. I thought you would appreciate that. Her favorite jam these days is freeze dance.
My Mother let me have decaf (ACK!) when I was young.
Plus, her Chocolate Cake Frosting was actually Mocha, made with Triple strength coffee. 😉
Circle of life.
Sometimes I’ll make the Frosting, and skip making the cake! !!
LOL:D
I like your style, Sir. ;^)
Ha! Mine to. I was a regilar Sanka drinker. Black.
You smell lovely. Gave that a turn in the Nordies downtown here.
Sisley is expensive af BUT I have to say I do like their scents a LOT. I am sure there are very close kissing cousins out there that are cheaper, but by golly I do like them!
I do like Izia, its very nice. Eau de Soir is also good. Which are your favorites?
Hi there! I really like Eau de Soir and Soir de Lune- these I like to think are sister fragrances- really well done chypre perfumes that smell so fresh, yet enticing and elegant.
I also like the cologne series, with my favorite being Eau 1 and 3. But it really expensive for being a cologne- Comme des Garcon offer better value for money, as do L’Occitane and of course 4711.
In Oscar by Oscar de la Renta, because I needed something strong, powdery and retro to keep myself awake and sharp today. 2 cups of coffee so far and they seem not to be working… Help!
Love Oscar…wore that one in high school many years ago.
It always hits the spot when I need it. And it also bring good memories!
I wore Esprit d’Oscar on Friday – such a cheery scent too!
Also quite elegant, I think. I particularly love it in spring and fall.
Esprit is also very nice. I have not worn it for a while. Good you brought it up!
My mother wore Oscar off and on for years. She always smelled great and so do you.
so did mine..along with White Linen
Thank you!
You smell glamourous.
Really quick, to wake up, do what I do: 30 jumping jacks (or step jacks), 10 knee pushups and 10 squats. You will wake up then and get the blood and lymph flowing.
I’ve been doing jumping jacks throughout the day when I work at home and totally agree that they help.
oh, STOP! can’t we just drink coffee and whine? 😉
???? love this response.
There is that. A good kvetch also gets the mind going! 😀
Like that 😀
Much more fun ????
Love.
I definitely need to add some exercise to my daily routine, even if it is just a couple of minutes. At work, the days that I go to the field I am physically active like crazy, but If I am in the office I barely move. I will follow you advice. Thanks!
I love the original Oscar de la Renta, both edt and the extrait (which is glorious) and Esprit d’Oscar. An incredibly lovely and kind NSTer recently sent me a sample of the current Oscar and I was surprised by how nice it is.
So whichever version you’re wearing, you smell beautiful! 🙂
Thank you! I am wearing the EdT and it is really beautiful!
Adding my voice to the chorus of “I love Oscar!” You smell beautiful today.
Thank you!
SOTD- Demeter’s Clover which is really reminding me a lot of my beloved discontinued Grass from 1994 (not the reformulation)
Yesterday I went to the mall and decided to follow hajusuuri’s “more is more” philosophy at Sephora. Seven sprays on the left wrist of Eau de Merveilles on the left wrist and seven sprays of Ambre de Merveilles on the right wrist. Happy to report to madtowngirl and tiffanie that they both are beginning to grow on me.
Also took the advice of Oakland Fresca and popped into Banana Republic to sample their new fragrance collection. I liked them all and my favorite was Vintage Green 78 (no surprise there). The best part is they are incredibly affordable ($48 for 100ml) and make small bottles of each ($25 for 15 ml) and a set of the entire collection in travel sprays ( 5ml x 5 for $38) which goes to show that there are some decent fragrances out there in a highly affordable price range. Glad I had the opportunity to sniff these.
Do you think you’ll buy any of the BR Icons?
Well, if I did not have over 300 samples and various full bottles/decants floating around the house I might have considered the Vintage Green 78 in travels size…but for now I think I have enough juice that I am more than satisfied sampling…it was just nice to know that there is still stuff out there that would satisfy me for daily use that is also highly affordable.
Oh interesting, I will go sniff those BR fragrances soon. Thanks for the brief review!
I think Oakland did a better job reviewing and I hope she chimes in at some point.
Wow! Seven sprays of each!
When I wore EdM last week I did get a “you smell nice” from a colleague which is always nice.
I have to say even though I have a 15 ml of the L’Ambre, I don’t find myself reaching for it often. I think of it as my “pretty” Amber and I actually prefer my ambers “richer” and “deeper,” i.e.: Ambre Sultan and Ambre Precieux.
I just sent away for a sample of the Eau Claire because I have not actually tried that one- insert shame faced emoji- will report back!
I was told at the Hermes boutique that Eau Clair was discontinued (or being discontinued)…
I have topped myself off with Parfum Delrae Wit before heading out the door…first time trying it…quite lovely…..
That’s on my list to try — what do you think about it?
It is very green and spring like for lack of better words…I am not going to rush out to buy a full bottle but my sample was very enjoyable.
you are the second person who has told me about the BR fragrance line
I think it’s 75ml for the $48, but still, wow! crazy cheap. I tried them and the leather was really the only one that had me hanging on.
ha! you are right floragal…75 ml.
and the leather was my second favorite one 🙂
maybe I picked Vintage Green 78 as my favorite because I am “vintage” myself-LOL!
I loved Grass so much – I used to wear it layered with B&BW Lilac body spray. I must have smelled like my parents’ suburban backyard but I got a lot of compliments at the time!
Oh goodness the original Grass was fabulous…they brought it back around 2013ish but I am pretty sure it was reformulated as it did not smell the same to me…I wore Grass and Heaven and even OM (which came out later) and I got compliments all the time on all three……I must have drained 20 bottles of Heaven….
I loved Grass!
Yay for Eau des Merveilles!
Wearing Slumberhouse Pear and Olive today.
I get a sweet greenish vibe from this unusual scent, as well as the pear and olive ( oil) in the name
So glad I bought a small bottle of this a few years ago.
This one is very unique
Life is beautiful.
Life is good.
Life is busy for everyone.
Triple strength coffee helps with that. 😉
All is fine with me, I am hopeful that everyone here can state the same.
On to perfume. No scent yet today, but I had a free day yesterday and I went to the 2nd largest mall in America: King of Prussia.
Driving too fast (sorry I should not, but I love love LOVE driving fast) on the Blue Route and Schuylkill Expressway going there.
In all fairness, people were leaving me in their dust. LOL
It is so large, smelled lots o’ stuff. Purchased Tom Ford Vert des Bois, perfect for later this week.
2 things : went to the Hermes boutique. Galop , roses and leather, will purchase when it hits discount.
Cuir d’Ange -watery vetiver and leather. Meh. Sorry Robin, I know you are a fan of JCE.
I have to teach the handsome SA who looks great in a slim suit, French?
In Hermes? !!! LOL:)
I could NOT find Mon Guerlain.
Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom. No !
On Mother’s Day, Guerlain?
Nordstrom only had Shalimar and Terracotta, but all the overpriced (YMMV) skincare and make-up.
More later.
Carpe Diem. Peace.
You smell great. Pear and Olive has a contemporary “fullness” not found in so many newer perfumes.
Oops- that was for hannahmom!
But, Bear, sounds like a very rewarding trip, despite feeling like you were in a NASCAR event to get there.
Thanks Wndysue!
It was a fun drive!
Too much traffic on the return trip.
Who told all these people they can drive on MY highway? ??
😉 LOL
I used to love driving fast too! Now, in my big white box of a van, its just not the same. But, I have great memories of fast driving, windows open, music blaring, hair a wonderful hot mess, and the feeling of immense freedom and joy! Sounds like you made the rounds this weekend. I salute you! *raising my coffee mug* =)
Sounds like an awesome day!
Vert de Bois was my favorite of that series so nice buy! Ah, the Schuykill. Brings back memories of the year I lived in Bala Cynwyd. By the time I realized I was mispronouncing everything, I moved to NY. Glad you are well!
Happy Monday, Bear! Vert des Bois has been on my to-buy list since first sniff — greenery with anise? Yes please and more!
Hi Bear! So wonderful to see (virtually) you.
Ditto
Oh Bear, glad to hear from you again. You were in my old home town (grew up in Devon). I remember King of Prussia when it was an outdoor mall and the anchor stores were JC Penney’s and Sears. But they did have Ladybug and Villager–the stores of my teen years!! Love it there! I am also waiting for Galop to pop up someplace affordable for me…..till then, you smell great (as I sip MY triple strength coffee)!!!
I loved Ladybug and Villager. Couldn’t imagine anything cooler than a pin on my plaid kilt skirt.
Oh! This takes me back! 🙂
Ditto!
Vert des Bois is gorgeous! Congrats on adding this to your collection.
I’m with you on Galop. I got a decant in the last splitmeet, plus I have a sample a delightful NSTer sent, but they’re both almost gone. I’ve tried to convince myself I’m fine owning Kelly Caleche, but no – I need that bottle. 😀 (when it hits discount sites)
Ha, yeah. I can see how you think you’re driving fast, but then get passed by a semi doing 90 on that route. Ugh. It’s happened plenty of times to me. Sounds like a fun outing. Glad you found something you liked.
King of Prussia! That brings back memories. My brother was born in Bryn Mawr hospital. Next time I’m visiting my aunt in PA maybe I can convince my mom that we should stop in KoP for a good sniff!
I used to go a lot to King of Prussia when my sister was studying in Bryn Mawr college. For some unknown reason I loved that mall and had fun spending the whole day there. Old times! I will stop by one of these days and indulge in some shopping. Great trip you had!
Thanks Everyone! !!
My Parents, Sister, and I would go every year in November/December for holiday shopping.
The anchor stores were Gimbels, Lit Bros., John Wanamaker, and Strawbridge and Clothier, at various points.
AND they had a circular wheelchair ramp that spanned the 2story structure. Before it was required by law.
Good times! !!
Cheers!
Gimbels!!!! I remember trips to Gimbels with my mother….does anyone remember Orbachs or Abraham & Strauss (A & S) or Alexanders? Also, Woolworths….what a great store….
Oh Lord. Gimbels, Orbachs, A&S, Alexander’s, Woolworth, BONWIT TELLER and BEST & CO. Don’t forget Bamberger’s!
ha! yes…thanks for reminding me of those others as well!
Hiya, Bear! Good to hear from you! Did you make it into the new portion of the KoP mall? It was still under construction when I was out there last. If so, was there anything cool or interesting?
I walked the entire mall because I was parked@ Nordstrom, and was told that Mon Guerlain was@ Bloomingdales . It wasn’t!
There are many temptations.
A huge new food court, Superdry clothing, Bvlgari ($80k) rose gold and diamond necklace in the window, Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta (when I win the lottery I’ll purchase a basketweave wallet). LOL
I was good, Vert des Bois, and 2 white chocolate Macadamia Cookies was my damage.
Cheers Jalapeno! ! Thanks !
Ooh, thanks for the update. Hopefully I can get out there and check it out for myself. And congrats on your self control… very impressive!
My SOTD is Milk of Flowers. Love it.
Just read the notes, and now I am curious
Nice to see you back too!
I am curious about Milk of Flowers as well as , if I am not mistaken, that is a bit of a signature scent for goddesserena?
Good to be here 🙂 Yes, goddessrena is the one who turned me onto this stuff. She reported it as her SOTD many times. I can see why. It smells like night-scented stock (Matthiola incana, I believe?) I need to try Penhaligon’s night-scented stock perfume.
I love my Night-Scented Stock! It’s discontinued, but still available on the discount sites, I think? You should go for it!
Night-scented stock smells similar to carnations, and I occasionally find it in mixed bouquets.
SOTD Guerlain Vetiver. Yay to green week!
Love, love, LOVE Guerlain Vetiver.
Guerlain Vetiver is lovely. A couple of weeks ago, when I came to pick a parcel from a delivery service, somebody there was wearing it (pretty sure it was one of the men in the line, although I was not sure which one). I rarely smell other people’s perfumes, and the cases when I can actually identify the scent are even rarer, so this was a very welcome surprise.
I should wear it later this week! 🙂
A great scent. I posted below about not smelling my perfumes after some time on antibiotics. The Guerlain Vetiver was the first one that give me concern. I was expecting instant olfactory gratification, and only got the citrusy tops notes, with little of the tobacco or woods.
That’s a great one- green from top tp bottom. =)
Yes, yes- you smell wonderful!
Nice! I have a hard time wearing (some) vetivers, but that one I loved straight away.
I am wearing Hiris for the first time today. So far it’s great.
Love that one! You smell like a real classy dame =)
YAY.
Of all he hundreds of perfumes I own, Hiris is still on of my very favorites (I still have two back-up bottles in the “blue” frosty bottle.)
Good morning NST! I’m a long time reader of this blog. What a great and knowledgeable community. My perfume journey started back in the 1980s – in college I wore Opium and Chanel No. 5 pretty exclusively, even Giorgio. I Many friends I met introduced me to Calyx, Poison and Aromatics Elixir. All sprayed with reckless abandon!
I really got into perfume during the early 2000s. A Creed rep from Neimans visited my gym, and from her I learned about layering fragrances, and I discovered so many other fragrances when I ventured into Neimans. 24 Fabourg was the next acquisition, and I will probably wear that as my SOTD. Reading this blog has led me down the road to rediscovering vintages, trying things I had only read about (like Joy and Fracas). Other houses I like are Amouage, Chanel, Tom Ford…I do sample a lot of niche and I’m trying to put a halt on blind buys. Perfume is such a wonderful hobby, and every time I think I’ve found “the one”, another scent comes along and that is how my collection grows! Have a wonderful day!
Welcome to the club, flopper!
Welcome! 24 Faubourg is pretty wonderful!
Yep, yep and yep! 😉
You’re one of us – welcome to the club!
???????? Thank you all soooo much! Very excited to be here!
Hi there, flopper! Good to have you join us, and love your ‘fume choices 😉
waving hello
Welcome!
*hands over a cup of coffee* Hello, Flopper! Here is the secret handshake *makes spritizing motion with hand*
You all are so cool! Thank you! Enjoying my virtual coffee! ☕️
😀
Big perfumista salute to you (brings wrist to nose)!
Welcome! You’ll be smelling lovely in 24 Faubourg, that was my choice yesterday.
Welcome!
Hello!
Welcome! 24 Rue Faubourg is beautiful. I wore that in the past…you’ve reminded me to revisit.
It is so beautiful. I love to spray about 5 big sprays and go outside. One of my quirks with fragrances. Have you tried the Faubourg Eau Delicate?
Welcome! 24 Faubourg is beautiful and one of my favorite Hermes. You will smell fantastic.
hi flopper, you smell beautiful! I adore 24 Faubourg edt. 🙂
Welcome, flopper! (Glad I caught spellcheck – it switched your name to flopped)
It’s a hyacinth morning! My SOTD is Jo Malone’s Blue Hyacinth, received yesterday as a Mother’s Day gift, and one of the limited edition Bloomsbury Set fragrances. I love it — it smells just like a fresh, real hyacinth at the start and for quite some time, then slowly morphs into a more general “flower shop” scent. I’d love to compare it to Jacinthe des Bois!
What a great gift! Enjoy!
OH MAN I need to try that one.
Have you tried the Buterbaugh, mals? This one comes pretty darned close to that and at a much more affordable price point.
I have a sample of EB’s Apollo Hyacinth and (ducking) I prefer the JM Blue Hyacinth. Luckily, as you say, it’s the more affordable option. But my husband was told it is selling out quickly. If you have a local store where you can get the JM, I’d grab it. And it was still available through Neiman Marcus’ website last week.
I really like it too!
I have more than enough green fragrances to do an entire week … and I meant to, but this morning my hand went straight to the Vol de Nuit extrait – apparently my instinct was for gorgeous comfort instead of springlike freshness. No regrets here. 😀
VdN is gorgeous comfort for sure. There’s some narcissus in there as a nod to spring!
Man, every time Vol de Nuit comes up I kick myself a little. It just sounds SO like my kinda thing, and yet I can barely smell it at all. Two different samples, one from TPC and one from STC, one vintage and one not… and they both smelled like wet cardboard so faint I could barely pick up anything. Pretty sure it must be my nose. 🙁 🙁
That’s absolutely tragic! I can’t imagine what you’re anosmic to in VdN. Usually musk but you know how much I hate musk and I really, really don’t get musk in VdN. ???
I had the same experience with vintage Chamade until I finally got hold of one that I could smell.
Oh, mals, that is just so sad! I get that wet cardboard note from Dior Homme when first sprayed, but never from VdN. If you could smell it the way I do, you would definitely love it. Have you ever smelled it on someone else? I’m wondering whether it could be your skin rather than your nose.
There’s plenty of green in the top of VdN though – petitgrain and galbanum. More pronounced I think in the vintage one. And you smell gorgeous!
Agreed, though I’ve only smelled the current.
Really? So I can still lay claim to a whole week of green? That’s great! Bedtime scent right now is Philosykos, and I’m thinking about wearing it tomorrow too.
I’ve been wearing Vol de Nuit (in vintage extrait form) a lot this past week, and it’s a beautiful shape-shifter on me. Last night it was warm spiced violet Guerlinade. You smell great!
The vintage extrait is fabulous, and it does have rather a mind of its own, doesn’t it. 🙂
Well, I can already say I’m a bit upset that I don’t have Corsica Furiosa with me for Friday’s Community Project. It’s warming up here in coastal NC and I have been thinking about my beloved CF for the last several days. I was planning on heading back to Florida at the end of my current contract in June for a couple of weeks, picking up my perfumes and hiking boots (which I also forgot!) but now am considering heading directly to Utah if I can swing a contract there. Once I’m out west, I may be there for a long while…
SOTD is the lovely BoE EDP, because I can. Never had such a large bottle (I got the 2.5oz bottle) and I feel like I’m already making a good dent in it. It’s just SO GOOD! Happy Monday to all. 🙂
Hey, great minds think alike — I was considering CF too.
Hope you find the perfect spot!
Thanks! I remember you liked this one. I just love that opening blast and haven’t come across anything similar. Also, PdE STILL has the best spray mechanism I’ve come across. I thought the Chanel sprayer might give it a run for its money, but NOPE! That PdE dispenser is absolute magic =)
You smell great!! Super great!
Now that Mom is gone, my sister is giving a year or so to locums. Utah is high on her list, too. Hiking, biking, Zion, visiting Best Friends.
She and I can visit each other more easily, too!
SOTD is dregs of Indochine worn last night watching Mr. Bourdain in Laos. He reminds me a little too much of my exhusband, so small doses of him are all I can do.
I pulled up lots of pictures from my sisters and my most recent trip there and emailed them for her to smile at when she woke up this morning.
Indochine! Another one I love and miss. You smell fabulous! I can only take Mr Bourdain in small doses, too. =)
imagine being married to someone like him… what was I thinking??? Although, he was a pretty good fragrance giver.
Joy
Vivre
Fidji
No, can imagine being married to anyone! Another zinger from my mother was “I just don’t know why you have such bad taste in men.” Thanks again, Mom!
At least you got some good fragrances out of it ????
Best Friends! Really want to visit.
How is it I never heard of this organization before?! If I do get the contract, I will definitely visit. The website is extensive…
It is so good! I’m trying hard not to “covet thy neighbor’s perfume.” You smell lovely!
Thanks! don’t think I will ever get tired of this one. It fits everything, all the time. =)
I’m making a pretty good dent in my 2.5 oz Misia edt and kind of wishing I’d bought the massive 6.8 (or whatever it is) but that seemed crazy at the time. I figured 2.5 oz would last well over a decade… we’ll see!
I got an email from Chanel after my bottle was delivered, asking me how I would rate me experience. I shot from the hip and let them know I didn’t appreciate making a large monetary purchase and not even getting samples of others In the l’exclusifs line. Pffft! They could care less, I’m quite sure.
Scent twins today but I’m in the parfum. Also sending you an email later.
Thanks for your email and of course, you smell fabulous ????
Thanks to you, I have CF to wear this week!
SOTD in this chilly and damp morning is the ever gorgeous Teo Cabanel Alahine! I will be in greens in spades for the rest of the week. Cheers!!
Just lovely!
You smell great.
you smell beautiful…I need to move my bottle into rotation more often. I miss it
Wearing Iris Silver Mist. I put it on because my olfactory system is in a funk. I could only smell certain elements of other perfumes, and often just a whiff. I’ve been on antibiotics for a skin issue that didn’t respond to more conservative treatment. I read that people can lose the sense of smell from a variety of medications. I am also suffering from seasonal allergies that are relatively new for me. The ISM is a standby that I know has good projection and longevity, so I prayed that I would at least smell that. It’s missing some of the coldness that separates it from other iris perfumes, but it’s there, at least.
Has anyone had this experience? Please tell me there is improvement after the medications are finished- and, how long does it take?
On a more pleasant note, my daughter took me for Mother’s Day Tea yesterday. She’s made it a tradition. We stopped at Lolli and Pops, which is in many malls apparently. It was like a fantastic dream a kid would have, and also many of us. They didn’t have chocolate marzipan rolls, but they had the pretty decorated marzipan shapes, lots of international candy, and endless bins of just about anything you could imagine.
Sounds wonderful, the Mother’s Day Tea.
I just saw that lolli and pops store yesterday. Never heard of it.
They had a macron shop too !
Pretty to look at, not my thang ! LOL
HOWEVER! One of only a handful of Mrs. Fields extant, and I had to purchase 2 White Chocolate (it is a thing-next! !!) Macadamia Cookies.
Ate one yesterday, the other is in the fridge calling my name.
I can’t HEAR YOU! !!!! LOLOLOL 😉
It’s so great to find a shop you like that has become rare. Now I need a really yummy cookie! 🙂
As far as I understand, and of course I don’t know which antibiotics you are on, it’s most likely that those symptoms will disappear. But if you want a “real” answer ask you doctor. He or she ought to be able to give you a much better answer.
Awww.. sweet Mother’s Day for you!
Hope you get some answers soon on your medication’s effect on your sniffer!
Hi Wendysue! I’m sorry your sniffer is out of kilter.
Do you find that a scent on your skin smells about the same as it does sniffed from the bottle? An antibiotic might change your baseline skin scent along with your nose’s ability to smell.
I used prescription medication for many months and eventually realized that my sense of smell was slowly diminished. Good news is that things gradually returned to normal when I was able to stop the medicine.
It was no fun at all. Food tasted flat, perfumes smelled weak and strange. My doctor suggested that I not worry about it too much (hard!) and look for things that were appealing to smell and taste.
I ate food with fresh herbs, especially fresh basil. Bitter greens like kale were very appealing. For scent I used essential oils such as lavender, ylang ylang, peppermint, and a “thieves” blend of clove/cinnamon.
Thank you, tiffanie. I will
follow your advice. It’s also very healthy and the antioxidants might just work on the underlying condition.
I agree with austenfan – consult your dr first since every antibiotic has different side effects and if you’re experiencing something that’s bothering you, it might be the antibiotic and/or your seasonal allergies and hopefully your dr can help you sort it out. Feel free to email me! Sending hugs …
Hope this is all temporary
That’s a nice Mother’s Day tradition. I hope your sniffer gets sorted out soon!
SOTD is No. 19 for the first time today thanks to a sample from a wonderful NSTer. It is the EdP. Holy cow. It’s rare I just LOVE something first spray (especially a Chanel, they usually have to grow on me a little), but I could seriously go buy a whole bottle of this today and I am convinced it would go fast. I am now afraid to use my little sample because I’ll be so sad when it’s gone! I can’t wait to try the EdT now as well- I believe many of you all prefer it? Anyway, this will definitely go on the ‘buy as soon as humanly and financially possible” list. I look like a total weirdo sitting in my office sniffing my arm every 5 seconds. 😯
Hi twin! I seriously bought a whole bottle of this a while back, and every time I wear it I wonder why I held out so long. 😉 We smell fantastic!
I too just recently tried No 19, in the EDT though, and it is gorgeous! You smell great!
Aha. I know what extra I’ll stick in your package 🙂
Enjoy your 19 EDP!
Last year I treated myself to a bottle of 19 EDT (looooooooooove it!) and also received a decant of 19 edt older formulation, which is glorious, from a wonderful NSTer.
I have not sampled edp or extrait, hopefully one day I will 🙂
I’m so happy you’ve discovered No 19 since I’m a huge fan, and I also love it when someone gets excited right off the bat! 🙂
Woo hoo! Speaking of looking like a weirdo sniffing hand or whatever body part, that was me yesterday with the FM Iris Hand Cream!
Oh, if you have the Iris hand cream, I’d be the ultra-weirdo sniffing *your* hands!
LOL. It is really good! I’ll probably use it everyday this week. It goes well with green perfumes.
Mmm, chocolate chip day, I think I’ll make a batch of cookies later this afternoon! Wearing Coromandel edt.
Coromandel is my fave. It goes well with chocolate chips too!
It’s finally warm here!
Therefore a perfect opportunity to try Nomenclature Shi_so!
Yum, I’m enthralled by this green smell of rhubarb, mint & verbena.
Have a lovely day!
That sounds wonderfully refreshing!
It does!
It is! I can’t believe how good it smells!
I’ve been super busy with work and family and have sadly had to put my daily check in with NST on hold.
SOTD Chanel no. 5 eau premiere. After acquiring many samples I finally caved and purchased a FB and have worn it for over a week straight! I think the last time I wore a fragrance for an entire week was about a year ago for a NST challenge when I wore Guerlain Terracotta for entire week. I’m sure I’ll switch this one out soon but for now I am certainly enjoying it!
Hoping everyone is happy and well.
So glad you’re enjoying your new bottle!
Enjoy! I like Eau Premiere a lot, and I’m not a Chanel No. 5 gal. I may try to convince my sister to send me hers, since she likes the original.
I’m still wearing my Stephane Humbert Lucas fragrances. Today it’s
2022 Generation Woman
I really need to sample that line. It gets quite a lot of love on here.
That’s a pretty almond.
It is a very pretty almond. I am very excited about th two new releases he has coming up this year. They both supposed to floral with a touch of oriental
Wearing Rose Anonyme to give me some personality besides “extremely nervous” on my FIRST day of real work EVER! I successfully drove on the freeway from the South Bay (home) to the East Bay (work), so the day has been 100 % successes so far!
I’m sure you’ll see much more success by days end! Hope it’s a great day for you!
You will be fabulous, and you already smell great! Just remember, fake it till you make it. The power of positive thinking (and positive action) will take you far. As we say in the theatre, break a leg!
Congrats! Hope the new job goes well.
The best for you on this first day of work. You will do great today and the days ahead!
Best to you! I’m sure it will be successful- and your perfumes will be your best buddies until you meet ones at work.
Hope it’s going well!
Congratulations on first day! Not just the work but that drive!
Congrats! Hope the job/move/driving all go well.
Thanks, everyone! You guys are great. I made two friends, possibly three! And everyone else is really nice. I was mostly bored out of my skull today because most of it was spent on orientation, but now I’m ready to go for my second day of work!…On which I will have to do a ton of online safety training >.<
Congrats and good luck!
Congrats and good luck at the new job!
Day one of my staycation! Woo hoo! I have a to-do list of things I’d like to get done but it’s going to have to wait. Our temperatures are supposed to be in the 80’s today and tomorrow and the sun is calling my name.
Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt with Lime Basil & Mandarin. These are my two favorite JM’s so far and I like them best when worn together.
Happy Monday!
Yay for you! Yes, it’s important that you get some vacation time in and not just a list of to-do stuff. Smelling good!
Enjoy your staycation! Love that pairing and thank you for introducing me to it….
Two thumbs up for staycations!
Staycation is the best vacation, because you don’t have to endure planes, trains and automobiles AND you can play tourist in your own town/state/province!
Enjoy your staycation! I am longing for one!
Chocolate Chip Day — woo-hoo! I’m game!
Nice to see the sun out there today with all the rain we’ve been having. Still chilly, but looks like we’ll hit the 80s by Wed. I’ll believe it when I feel it!
SOTD: Rose Rebelle Respawn
Today was nearly shorts weather. Finally.
This one does not get much mention, but is my favorite from this line
Happy Monday!
1) SOTD: Blue Fig (Illume) Fresh and lovely for this spring day!
2) Binge watched Versailles on Netflix. If you are looking for a really good costume drama about the birth of the French Modern State ( and yes, it actually did start with Louis 14th) that has been seasoned with quite a bit of sexiness, then may I suggest this series. All of the principals are good, but especially the actor who plays Phillipe. There are quibbles with artistic license(The Chocolate Baby was a weird, unfounded rumor) and with interiors ( Shot at different chateaux, the series gives an impression of a plush interior. In reality, Versailles was swampy, chilly and it stank at the time of Louis 14) BUT overall an excellent series to dive into!
3) The sunshine returns on Thursday! Hurray! So a sunny weekend- perfect for painting! I am so excited!
#1-Wow! that is becoming your signature scent…
#2- thanks for the rec…I was eyeballing it but now I will add it to my queue
forgot …#3 🙂 !!!!
Seriously though- add it to your queue AND try to savor it over a week! I binged over a weekend and I am going to watch it again this week. It’s a bit R rated, so be warned (but it’s a French production, so…) but it’s not over the top with that stuff. Characterizations are superb. I think you will really like it.
No worries about the R rated…nowadays even things on mainstream TV seem risque, right? I will try not to binge watch but I am notorious for that…Mr. CM8 says I have a “TV addiction”.
Oh and I forgot to mention that I am now watching youtube perfume reviews on my TV too….many of Mr. CM8’s “recommended for you” sci-fi movies are now being updated and replaced with perfume reviews videos and he is NOT happy about THAT!
SOTD: Chant d’Aromes
Hmm… I’ve been pondering which, if any, of my fragrances I see as that green (which I like). I strongly “see” scents as colors and so far I can only see that color as a co-player with another main color.
I hope you all have as good a Monday as I’m having! 🙂
You smell wonderful!
Thanks!
When you figure it out, publish a list. I can’t bend my mind around this one.
IF I figure it out! 😉
AG Nuit Etoilee is my SOTD, and currently drinking a cup of lemon ginger tea.
Saturday, I cracked one of my teeth. Actually, I’m not sure when it cracked and broke off since its the molar on the top right hand side of my mouth, I just started feeling the jagged edge of it on Saturday night. Yesterday, I was very cautious and ate soft foods.
Today, I’m going to dentist to see about how to get it fixed.
Sorry that happened to you. Similar happened to me recently and though it was just a little chunk of an old filling, I had to get a crown to fix it. I’m sending positive thoughts for you hoping it is an easier and cheaper fix!
Hope it’s easy and cheap to fix.
I hope it goes well.
Ow, best of luck at the dentist!
No scent yet, because I’ve decided to finally clear off my dresser, which has been piled with junk for a long time. I want to take some of my bottles for spring/summer and display them, so I’m not hunting around so much in the cabinet before deciding what to spray. Path of least resistance…I’ll go for the ones on the dresser first and maybe have a small set of samples in a bowl to continue to force me into going through them.
This is a good technique. I have attempted it, too. But lately I don’t like wearing something uncertain out in the world.
I agree. Especially niche. But, I’m trying to pick the right times and dive in…
I need a tray. I’m actually losing a pretty green Le Creuset flat dish temporarily.
Finally put on The Soft Lawn, which was an impulse buy I later kind of regretted. It’s nicer today. The tennis balls seem to be less pronounced.
My dresser attracts everything and anything! I weekly have to clean it up or else it just gets nuts. I like to rotate fragrance based on the seasons as well, and also have at least one bottle in the bathroom that I rotate every few months.
I woke up this a.m. trying to remember this week’s theme, but couldn’t. Am right on target nonetheless testing LL Lys 41. Green lily with green stems and leaves. If I were to associate it with a color, it would be the topmost paint chip in the photo.
That’s such a pretty fragrance. (But not, to my mind, very green. I suspect my green threshold is different than other people’s. 🙂 )
I’m enjoying my sample of that one. You smell lovely!
SOTD–a very vintage Occitaine jasmine…I finally tracked this one down this year (thank you Evil Bay). I first wore it back in the early ’90’s (actually finished a bottle) but then couldn’t find it. Just a straight up pretty jasmine with a few other flowers thrown in to fill out the bouquet. I smell pretty….oh, so pretty….
Very windy here today but sunny and beautiful outside. Hope all of you have a wonderful day no matter the weather.
How nice to find an old favorite like that! What is it called?
It’s an EDT from La Guirlande de Julie collection just called Fleur de Jasmin. I bought a bottle on my first trip to Paris from the Occitane boutique on Rue Moufftard (this was before Occitane was on this side of the Atlantic…I had never heard of them). I have since learned that it was also sold in the French section of Epcot Center at Disney. Long discontinued it popped up in an ebay search and I jumped on it. Still smells great and takes me right back to wonderful times.
How cool, thanks!
Bright but chilly day in Michigann so I reached for Barkhane again. Incense just fascinates me sometimes.
I still need to sample all of the CdG incense series – I’m probably the last person on here who hasn’t! 🙁
You’ve got some great smelling ahead when you do!
I’m wearing delrae panache, on a cool and rainy day, hopefully I can love it again after that hot day last summer when I accidentally poured too much from the decant on to myself.???? Because it’s a lovely vetiver spiced without gendered affiliation.
We are house twins 🙂
I’m wearing 4160 Tuesdays Ealing Green. I guess I should have saved it for Friday! (There’s a tiny bit left in my sample, maybe I can swing it again.) I love this fragrance. It’s bright, spicy thyme with rose and it brings a big smile to my face.
That sounds like it’s right up my alley!
Hello busy Monday. But, that’s a good thing. The sooner this short week goes by the better. I get to WFH half day Friday and the hubs and I leave for Scotland Sunday. (visiting my sis and BIL)
I’m in Amouage Journey Woman. I used to only wear this in autumn, but now I love it in spring on slightly warm days. Hot days would make the honey in it a bit suffocating though.
I’ve also got on Chanel No 5 body cream, but it’s faint. My MIL (who is not very bright and extremely flaky) went to Italy and France recently for a vacation. She asked if there was a perfume I wanted and of course my mind exploded at what was available to me
so I spouted off a few names of places and saw the (general) haze in her eyes grow thicker so I decided just ask that she get me some macarons from Laduree because I thought that was mainstream/ safe enough for her. When she got back I got boxed macarons from a grocery store and Chanel No. 5 body cream, which I’m 99% certain certain she got at the airport considering the “duty free” on the bag. It’s a little funny, but hey, I do give her credit for being kind enough to get me something perfume related. I’ve been wearing the body cream after showers each night and the scent lingers a little the next day. My bed and night clothes have smelled FABULOUS and the hubs likes my powdery wafting scent. I liked No 5, but couldn’t handle it so I leaned more towards Eau Premiere (No 5 lite). However, this body cream. Wow. I LOVE this stuff, which is bad because I don’t want to know how expensive it is to get more when I run out.
That body cream IS fabulous. My No. 5-wearing mom has begun to wear only the cream, and it’s so luxuriously scented that she always smells just wonderful. I think it runs $85 on the Chanel website.
I used to never really mind body creams too much because I thought it was a waste, but this is definitely changing my mind. (I’ve also tried Amouage body cream samples that I loved.) It’s mostly gone by the next day since I just put it on at night, but it lingers a LOT on sheets/clothes (even after a washing on some clothes) and it’s very comforting. Maybe I’ll have to put this on my Amazon wishlist since I know the in-laws go by that for buying me gifts for birthdays/hols.
Buy it at duty free when you and the hubs are on your way back from Scotland!
Reached into the bargain bin today, and am happily wearing Queen, by Queen Latifah. It was a blind buy, and practically free (0.5 oz clearance buy for less than $6). It’s not edgy, it’s not innovative, it doesn’t have highly unusual notes or an advanced delivery system. It’s comforting and smells good on me, though – kind of like what I hoped Angel would smell like. Not as boozy or chocolate-y as Angel, and doesn’t make me feel as if my perfume is trying to snatch the very breath out of my lungs and asphyxiate me on the spot (I might have had an issue with Angel, it’s true).
You smell great! It’s a great scent and I can’t believe how cheap it is.
It’s cold and wet here today. I was craving something sweet so I went with Kiss Me Tender.
I have kiss me intense..is that the same thing?
Kiss me Intense is a refo”d version. I have a fb of KMT and haven’t compared the two. If you want a sample for science, contact me ar l lombardi where tbe mail is hof.
Ugh .. hot. I will never master the keyboard on this phone…
Kiss Me Tender is SOOO pretty but it did not last very long on my skin.
You smell great!
SOTD Edward Bess Genre. Quite happy
That’s a good one!
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
It’s a gorgeous green, in both scent and color. I needed spine-stiffening and No. 19 sure came in handy!
SOTD yesterday was another greeny – Aftelier Bergamoss EDP. Gorgeous, and soooo good while it lasted. I have two of the travel sprays, one of which was from a super-generous NSTer. One of them is alarmingly low. But I will not hoard! If you have an unloved travel spray, i would be happy to swap for it!
You smell great! And beautifully composed.
Thank you!
You just reminded me to pull out my Bergamoss decant. Fantastic scent!
I wanted to keep spraying but there is a limit after which one gets into asphyxia territory!
How does No. 19 smell in comparison to the Poudre? I liked No. 19 Poudre, but not enough to keep it. I’ve tried vintage 19 in the purse sized silver canister, but it smelled “off” to me. Is the current formulation something good to consider? Thank you for your advice!
My No. 19 EDP is as modern as it gets. I would like to think I got my current bottle in 2015 or quite possibly 2014 but definitely not older than that. I have vintage 19 EDC which smells more leathery. I haven’t worn No. 19 Poudre for so long I couldn’t do a fait comparison. If you are in the U.S., click on my username to get my contact info and I would be bappy to send you a sample.
Twins! I’m wearing a sample you sent me actually (for the first time today) and I almost cried at first spray- it was an instant love and has to go on the “must buy as soon as possible list”!!!!!
Wow! And the price-point is pretty good!
Smelling wonderful!
Thank you. It was perfect for today’s schizo cleanup.
Oh no… it wasn’t anything to do with that malware, was it?
Ok, I don’t know why clean-up appeared….I meant odd weather for May– so cold this morning and to think it may be in the high 80s mid-week which is way too hot for me.
My semester is OVER and the really warm weather arrived, almost on cue. I’m working through my bottle of Sud Magnolia – the magnolias have also begun to bloom. I do love them, they look so decadent.
I am comparing a bit of Jour Gardenia to Jour Absolu today…and the Absolu is winning!
All the Jours are in the same vein…although the Gardenia is perhaps the most different of the bunch.
I have a bottle of the Jour extrait/parfum which I am debating rehoming…I don’t reach it for that often and now that I am really culling the perfume herd it feels so good that I want to keep going…
My green today is incidental.
I planted a few things that had been languishing in pots on the patio for way too long. I’m not sure what I expected of Texas in May, but it’s freakin’ hot out there. I’ve got to go to work this afternoon and a shower isn’t in the cards so I’ve doused myself in Trefle Pur to freshen up. I smell very fresh and spring-green, indeed. At least, I do if you don’t get too close 😉
Trefle Pur is so perfect for dousing!
Busy weekend playing tourist with my cousin visiting from LA. We did the Whitney, the Tenement Museum which I’ve ver been to, saw a play (Indecent) and ate Georgian food, which I’ve never had and was quite delicious! Fun, but also exhausting with the rain all day Saturday and all the subway service disruptions.
SOTD Rue Cambon which I thought would perk me up today but I think only a nap will help me now.
I’m with you Elisa. I am struggling today too. At least you smell wknderful.
And you weekend sounds like great fun.
Thanks! At least no rain for us today. I’m sure cool and rainy makes it even harder.
I hope you recover from all your weekend activities soon. You smell beautiful!
Thank you! Joining you in a virtual cup of coffee ????
Great cousin!
I hope you recover from all your weekend activities soon. You smell beautiful!
My toddler (with the help of my husband) gave me a sample pack from Twisted Lily for Mother’s Day, so I’m trying those all week. Up today: CB I Hate Perfume’s To See a Flower. I LOVE the wet earth note at the opening, but it doesn’t last long. Right now it is a floral melange with a petrichor edge.
Ah, you’re starting ’em young! Sounds like it payed off.
Oh! That’s a great gift!
I’m wearing Box of Eels perfume this morning. The strawberry plants I planted last week have tiny berries on them! I’m kind of excited, I’ve never been able to grow anything. These are in a raised bed so maybe I’ll blame my past failures on the soil. However, there was that cactus that jumped out the window to get away from me…
Lol the cactus! Those tiny berries must be uplifting to see. I don’t think strawberries are particularly easy to grow either, so you must be doing something right. So happy to see another BoE as SOTD ????
Ha about the cactus! I hope your strawberries thrive. I’m newish to gardening, too, and I seem to be learning more about plant pests and diseases than I anticipated.(or wanted to know).
Yes, all the books and articles want to tell me about infestations of horrible bugs and viruses lurking just out of sight, biding their time before they eat my fruit and kill my plantlings. To listen to them, it’s a wonder anything manages to grow at all.
I’m only learning about that stuff because those bugs/bacteria/and fungi *are* threatening to decimate my tiny garden! I’m finding it kind if fascinating on some level, though.
SOTD is Lush The Smell of Freedom.
I wish this one was still available in the US. Throw me a bone, Lush.
There’s a woman who makes perfumes who also has a full list of Lush dupes she makes. She’s pretty good and you can get everything as either edp, oil, or as a hair/body product. No affiliation-I’ve just bought from her before and was satisfied with what I got. And her prices are pretty reasonable. Sucreabeille.com is her website.
I just took a peek…”Calm the F*** Down” essential oils peaked my interest 🙂
????
and you know the notes actually sound pretty good 🙂
http://www.sucreabeille.com/product/calm-the-f-down-relaxation-stress-relief-aromatherapy-oil
and that should be my mantra!
Ha! Yeah, she has a fun aesthetic-very similar to BPAL.
Oh, that’s excellent! Elisa P, you rule–thanks!
Just trying to make lost Lush dreams come true ????
Hmmm. Early starts = late postings. It’s 7.30 a.m. here and I’m in my office getting ready for my 8 a.m. lecture. Or not, actually — I’m posting to NST. I SHOULD be getting more ready than I am, maybe, but I’m pretty much organised, and I have a coherent story to tell, so, meh…
I wanted to join so many of you in a green beauty today, but my hand kept drifting towards my Dries van Noten, which isn’t go to see out the winter at this rate. Well, when it’s gone, it’s gone. I smell like a complex kitchen, all spices and vanilla and something slightly boozy and I love it.
BTW, Dakkie seems none the worse for munching on his knitted mouse, if that’s what he did. well, that is to say, he didn’t yodel any more last night than has been his wont since his mother died, and he’s still holding us ransom for Temptations every time we go to the bathroom, come into the house, talk on the phone, or sometimes, just breathe, so we’re inclined ot the view that he is a perfectly well Dakkie. Good.
Be well, all. You smell wonderful in your spring greenery.
Happy Dakkie is doing well and not suffering mouse revenge/jacked up GI tract! And you just can’t go wrong with Dries, ever…????
Hello, scent twin! Glad to hear that Dakkie-cat seems no worse for wear after his ill-advised weekend snack.
Oh, thank goodness Dakkie is doing well and recovering from both his dietary indiscretions and the loss of his mom!
What a relief to know that Dakkie is happily recovering from everything!
Hi everyone, it’s all been a bit hectic over the last few weeks, and I haven’t been able to keep up with you all.
I had three weeks overseas, a week back at work, and yesterday started a 4 month secondment at a different government department. This department came into existence 6 weeks ago, so there are lots of things not yet in place, making it quite a challenge to see where my team fits in. My head feels a bit full at the moment, so I’m thinking that the calming effect of Tea for Two will be ideal for today.
Wow! That’s full on, Gaynor. Tea for Two sounds perfect to me.
I’m wearing Dune today, so not really on theme, but I smell pretty good anyway. 🙂
Yes, you do!
Eric Buterbaugh Apollo Hyacinth. Hyacinths have green leaves and stems, right?
Sorry for posting again and late to boot, and you may all know this already, but I was just doing some sniffing and saw that EL had a NEW Bronze Goddess EDP that is completely different from the eau fraiche, which I have and love. It’s not for me, but fans of Terracotta may want to give it a sniff because it seems like a affordable dupe. that being said, sometimes my nose is a bit wonky =)
I sprayed it thinking it was the newest iteration of the eau fraiche and imagine my surprise when I got a big creamy white tropical flower…
Was the EdP long lasting? For me Terracotta disappears in a matter of 1 hour. Bronze Goddess eau fraiche has been one of my loves for years.
It’s lasting longer than I want it to. ????
Had I know it was a completely different perfume, I wouldn’t have done a full spray. But yes, I would say it’s a bit *strong* and lasting. I rarely do more than 2 sprays of anything, so this one seems to really project with just one spray. If I had done two, I would have had to scrub it. Not that the perfume is bad persé, but because I’m an anomaly in the perfume world since I don’t like BWF Perfumes.
I wore Jo Malone Nutmeg&Ginger in the morning and Oriza Legrand Cypre Mousse in the afternoon, both from samples. I like the Jo Malone better, but Cypre Mousse is interesting enough.
I wanted something light, sophisticated and cheerful today and reached for Eau Claire de Merveilles, as I failed to find my sample of Mary Greenwel Lemon. I think it is time to organize my samples, again …
Mito Edp today. A strong green for a not yet quite spring day.
It’s extremely green and fits the theme very well!
SOTD = FM Dries van Noten, from the generous Hajusuuri and the sample stash. I’ve been puzzling over this one most of the day. Not sure if it fits the weather I have, which is mild and sunny, but rather windy. I’m thinking that maybe Dries van Noten is conjuring up rainy autumn days in my minds eye…
The first of a week of greenishness. SOTD (I nearly forgot to add) was Hermes “Un Jardin sur le Nil”.
Top: carrot, grapefruit, tomato and green mango;
Mid: orange, peony, bulrush, hyacinth and lotus;
Base: labdanum, iris, cinnamon, musk and incense.
In retrospect my first ‘perfumista’ purchase, although 2 or 3 years before I got into the subject. The fresh beauty of this scent wowed me, and it didn’t hurt that it evoked memories of a Nile cruise a few years earlier.
You smell great! Un Jardin sur le Nil is my favorite of the Un Jardin series.
I was carefully unscented today as I had several appointments with new acquaintances and did not want to raise eyebrows . . . yet.
So this evening I’m feeling ever so fragrant in 24 Faubourg edt with thanks to flopper for the inspiration.
Hope everyone had a marvelous Monday in one way or another.
Wow, super late today, but I wore a green perfume, Green Oakmoss by Soivohle. I picked it up along with a bunch of sale perfumes in 10ml. I really enjoy her style.
That is, Liz Zorn’s style.
