Happy Hump Day and happy Sun Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm easing into honey with a dab of Chanel Beige.
Reminder: on 5/5 we're doing May-bee Baby Friday... wear a honey fragrance or one that contains a honey note. Thanks to happy888cat for the suggestion!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: image shows Kristen Stewart for Chanel's new Gabrielle bag, 2017.
Another cold windy spring day, wearing the cozy LV Matière Noire.
I have not even poked my head out the door yet, but it’s chilly here for sure.
you smell great. curious, which of the 7 LV fragrances do you like?
I have Matière Noire and Mille Feux.
A La Nuit, which I forgot about for jasmine week, but it does have a note of honey too.
Hooray for Sun Day! It’s finally out this morning for the first time in a week and it’s so good to see.
I hadn’t noticed before this week, but many SL fragrances have a honey note.
Also meant to say you smell fabulous!
Can you mention some of the other ones? Thanks!
Twins in A La Nuit! I will need to compare this to Diptyque’s Essences Insensees 2015 which I love. But! for the moment I’m reeking havoc in Sarrasins, La Chasse Aux Papillons Extreme and En Passant.
En Passant…tried it for the first time this weekend! Fantastic!
A la Nuit is so beautiful, but so fleeting… You smell gorgeous!
Sonoma Scent Studion Voile de Violette, and drinking a cup of lemon ginger tea with honey.
how was your birthday? Did you buy anything perfume related?
My actual birthday (Monday) was very quiet. We celebrated over the weekend. We had drinks and dinner in the French Quarter on Saturday. On Sunday, our kids came over to celebrate 🙂
My parents gave me Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue for my birthday. Its very pretty and I’ve been wearing it a lot.
I bought a bottle of Bourbon French Voodoo Love (warm, earthy and cozy) and a bottle of BF Perfume of Paradise (beautiful white floral with adlehydes) when we were in the French Quarter on Saturday.
That sounds wonderful@
Oh, Voile de Violette is gorgeous – you smell great!
Thank you. I love wearing it and I should give it more attention.
Sonoma Scent Studio is what I meant to type.
I saw the three Ss and knew exactly what you meant…you smell fabulous…and if I did not wish you a happy bday, happy belated 🙂
🙂 Thanks!
Hello everyone.
So today is the last day of my 5-days-long weekend. It was fun mini holidays to relax. In the evening I’ll be going to my place and off to work tomorrow.
Good news is I found a honey fragrance for Friday.
Today I’m in Cuir Ottoman.
Have an enjoyable last day of your holiday.
I certainly am!
Enjoy this day! And btw, I just got Infusion d’Oeillet yesterday (miniature dabber), and I just want to thank you! What a lovely scent!
That’s so sweet of you to come and report back. Infusion d’Oeillet is so good. Enjoy your mini.
I love Cuir Ottoman. You smell great!
Enjoy the last day of your holiday! Five days off is nice. 🙂
I am commando since I am still on my “staycation” and will sniff around at shops.
So far my damage is some soap and a cream & soap from SMN. Nozkoz gets a small enabler pin for the soap.
Homemade chai (virtually handing Robin a cup of this and my FIL to help you out) 😉
Also listening to Alela Diane in high volume while I am home alone
Yay for being home alone!
Oh I did not even think to look at the soaps while I was in Clydes!
I want some of your tea…so envious of you-LOL! it would go so well with my outfit and fragrances today 🙂
Staycations are the best! I have one coming up the week after Mother’s Day.????
Have fun!
Staycations are best cations, since you get to play tourist in your own city! And also, homemade chai masala is wonderful!
Thank you, I accept 🙂
A couple drops of vintage Montana Parfum de Peau. Man, was that stuff ever good. (The top is starting to go a bit acetoney — it is thirty years old, so no wonder — but the rest is as aggressively wonderful as ever.)
It’s funny, I’ve come to sort of appreciate the spoiled top notes of vintage perfumes — maybe because it usually means something good is coming?
That’s funny! I have the opposite reaction…I lament what I once remembered my vintage smelling like when it was in pristine condition…especially with citrus notes, like vintage Cristalle.
I love that!!
I’ve got that acetone thang going on in a big bottle of L’Arte di Gucci EdT. Takes about 5 minutes for it to burn off, and then the actual scent comes to the fore – which in itself has quite the nose kick.
My bottle is about that age too. I wear it maybe once a year. And every time I do, I am reminded of what a powerhouse it is! Hard to believe I wore it on a daily basis to work! Ha. It is SO good:)
Instead of one of my honey fragrances, I am wearing D’Orsay Tilleul. But it has beeswax (and I do detect something honey-like in this scent), so there is still a connection.
It’s a sunny fragrance for the Sun Day. 🙂
You smell great!
I love that scent!
happy Sun Day!
Robin, glad you are feeling well enough to wear perfume 🙂
wearing my Indian shirt, black leggings ,mala beads and OM ring while wafting of Saffron Troublant (day 5!!!) and did the spray the air walk through a la hajusuuri with Spice Bazaar…my room smells amazing!
and listened to this repeatedly on my almost one hour ride to work this morning.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swLHQMGxY1I
peace love light
xxoo
Wow, how have I never heard that song?
I know! Isn’ t it great? I have been obsessing over it lately and it brings me back to high school many many years ago …one semester an Indian dance class was required and since the teacher did not take attendance most of the students cut the class except the extreme goody two shoes….so there were three of us, me included…he always played music with a sitar and I just love when that instrument is incorporated into songs now 🙂 That class ended up being one of my favorite……
Oh how cool!
I’m wearing a small spray or two of Rozy VDE for the honey note (and because I love it).
You smell fantastic!!
Yes! That will be my choice on Friday. It’s gorgeous. And a little goes a long way.
SotD: Ormonde Woman
I seriously want OW, lucky you
It’s a great and pretty versatile scent imo.
I wear it to the office, to parties, when I go for a walk on the beach, when I go shopping or have lunch…. And I can wear it almost year round (its a bit too much for me on really hot days, but those days are scarce around here).
I love that one and it has really gotten me compliments.
Yes I love it!
OW is one of those scents that works better for me when applied lighty. Maybe that’s why it has never gotten me compliments from people around me…(or I have to find company with better taste haha 😉
5am: 2 sprays of Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue: one on my neck and one on my chest. 6am: I got in the train in my way to work. It was already very, very crowded. At the following station a very smelly, dirty, sweaty man pushed his way in very hard with two big, black plastic bags with his belongings. He was next to me by the door. People tried to move away from him but there was nowhere to go. I was getting very nauseated and was impatiently waiting for the next stop to change the car. He dared to tell me in a very loud voice and an aggressive attitude: Your perfume “stinks”. You are going to make me and the rest of the people faint. Go take a shower and change your clothes. Be considerate to others”. We all looked perplexed and a woman started arguing with him. By then, the door opened and we all rushed to get out of there. “Good Morning New York”. Good Morning my fellow Nst’ers!
Oh goodness! that is one part of growing up in NYC that I do not miss!
Glad you were able to switch cars 🙂
and I would have told you that you smell fabulous!
Thank you CM8. I still do not understand how he could have smelled the perfume. 2 sprays are so light. I guess he has a well-developed sense of smell for others… not for himself 🙂
Maybe you did stink to him, what a miserable life he must have. Its tough that kind of aggression when there are so many beautiful things to say to each other.
Bois de Violette today. Maybe the man would have appreciated my perfume, we´ll never know…
You smell delicious in Bois de Violette, Gabriela ! You might be luckier than me and be praised, but…….
You smell great. The unfortunate gentleman must have some kind of sensory integration problem, among others!
For sure, he has many problems. I guess he attacks people verbally and hopefully not physically everyday. I will assume his frustration was not been able to smell as good as I was 😉
Wow. I’m really sorry you had to deal with a mean person yelling at you. I think you smell beautiful. I almost bought that last week, but talked myself out of it. Now, I kinda have to get it on principle alone:)
Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue is so beautiful and easy to wear. You should get it. And for your own sake, please….never ever meet “him” 🙂
Beautyencounter.com is selling 8 ml spray minis on their site and on ebay. I bought one yesterday 😉
OMG! I hate to laugh but that is a New York moment right there. Contrary to his opinion, I think you smell great!
Like you I also laugh at all the craziness we experience in NY so often. I am so used and expect to see and hear anything here that in some way I was not surprise at all. However, he made me very upset for the rest of my commute. At that moment, I wished I would have dumped the whole bottle of Id’I on him 😀
It is upsetting and unnerving. I’ve had bizarre interactions with people on the train and it’s the last thing you need that early. You would have done him a favor by dousing him in IdI!
Any interaction like that is distressing, regardless of who it comes from or how WRONG they are. Anyone would have been upset, and kudos to the other rider who took him to task.
I grew up in NYC, and so, so right! Ah, but we also get some of that here in Portland! The joys of mass transit!
Oh dear. I can certainly commiserate! Here’s something lovely you might bump into in NYC to counteract your encounter:
http://honestlywtf.com/art/flower-flashes/
Real-life flowerbombs! 🙂
Thanks for that link.
You’re welcome!
Love this!!!!
I do too!
OMG! it is so beautiful! Thank you! I love the concept of colorful blooms, spilling out of a trash can. We should all be spreading beauty like that!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Holly, that is so awesome! I like that he was observant enough to coordinate the flower arrangements with the existing background colors.
I found it incredibly inspirational and generous!
Incredibly beautiful and uplifting! Thanks for sharing, Holly!
Wow, I’m surprised that two spritzes of Id’IA would be offensive. (I bet that guy doesn’t even smell himself, since we get used to common smells.)
That was exactly what I thought. He cannot smell himself anymore and criticizes a soft, beautiful scent. He has guts!
It’s also very likely that he is mentally ill as are many of the homeless in NYC so I wouldn’t take it at all personally.
It’s not! I’m wearing 6 and smell gorgeous!
You smell fabulous. Absolue is beautiful.
Perhaps the man was saying what he thought others might say about HIM, so he spoke first to deflect attention from his own situation. I can imagine that he has heard those words directed his way.
I’m so sorry that happened. I was never a thick-skinned commuter so those types of surprise interactions sometimes took me days to get over.
Certain things take me days or even weeks to get over. I am a shy person who usually do not react to any type of aggression, but I feel mortified and hurt about it. In my daily commute I see different people’s reactions and sometimes I would like to be more determined and stronger in mine. He managed to make me upset just for a while. I feel sorry about him, being rejected by everyone everyday. Fortunate, we are for sure!
I mean, fortunate, we are NOT, for sure.
OMG! LOL!
Not laughing at you, laughing WITH you. Ah, the varied joys of mass transit!
BTW, you don’t stink! Not at all!
At least we have a good reason to laugh. Mass transportation hazards 😀
My Pradaholic pride feels offended by someone calling a Prada perfume stinky!
He needs to be punished 😉
Lucasai, believe me! I thought about you immediately when that happened, knowing how much you like Prada. Just yesterday you mentioned Absolue and I had it in my mind to wear it today. No regrets at all and I am enjoying it now and I will forever! I also demand punishment 😉
At least you smelled fabulous in NSTers opinion so don’t worry about some random person.
Glad you enjoy this golden Prada
So sorry you had to endure that. 🙁 Absolue is beautiful.
I am originally from CT and am somewhat familiar with the joys of NY public transportation.
Chin up and treat yourself extra well tonight. 🙂
Thank you She-ra. Looking forward for a relaxing evening with a glass of wine.
Well I think you smell absolutely wonderful!
Thank you KellyC. You also smell great in Santal 33.
I hope your morning got better 🙂 You are wearing a beautiful scent.
It got better for sure. I asked some of my co-workers if they could smell any perfume on me. Some say No. Others had to approach very close to me to say they could smell it, but very lightly. Anyway, we laughed, not at the guy, but at the situation itself 🙂
I just sprayed the same perfume on before I sat down to check in. We stink good! Anyone who has the pleasure to smell us would agree 🙂
Useless and risky to argue. You never know if the person becomes physical. But sometimes you really cannot keep quiet. She got really aggravated.
And YES. we stink really good!!!! 😀
Oh dear, it is so disturbing to deal with nutters, especially in tight quarters. Hope you managed to get over it by now. You smell lovely.
Thank you. I hope we do not coincide in the same train tomorrow 🙂
Oy! I fear this type of encounter and try not to take the subway, given the choice.
Avoid the subway if you can. Not fun at all.
I am wearing Seville a l’aube, for the beeswax note.
Haha!! What a great idea! Beeswax!
I’m wearing one of my favorites, Marni. My red/white/black outfit coincidentally matched the bottle!
Nice ! Beautiful scent, and color coordinated with your outfit 🙂
Woo hoo for Sun day! It has temporarily stopped raining here. I’m wearing Boucher on Place Vendome. This is my go to “feel pretty” perfume.
Sun is good 🙂
One of these days I need to try Beige. But today is supposed to get upwards of 80 degrees (unusual for Portland in May), so I’m taking Rappleyea’s advice and wearing vintage Vol de Nuit extrait (which my autocorrect is dying to change to Vol de Suit extract, whatever THAT is) to see how it blooms in the heat. I was also (ahem) enabled by Someone (ahem) to spring for a small bottle of said VdN extrait yesterday, so I will have a big confession for Donatella at the end of the quarter.
Oh, wow! You smell gorgeous. I really, really hope that the beautiful jasmine/daffodil/orris heart blooms for you like it does on my skin.
And Donatella is thrilled that you honored her birthday with such a great purchase. 😉
No blooming here – it’s in the 40s!
A slightly powdery iris definitely came to the forefront, and something else floral that is hard for me to identify – could be a mix of daffodil and jasmine – and something slightly spicy-sweet that is also hard to identify but reads a little bit like a smidge of vanilla mixed with a slightly bigger smidge of sandalwood, or maybe even leather. Just lovely.
Bloom! 🙂
“Flying Suit,” that kills me!
I am looking forward to the warmth and the sun! We are SO due a bit of sun!
I met a new little baby yesterday at the store, and his mother said that his whole little life- 120 days! – has been without sun! 🙁
As I was leaving my office building tonight, a woman just behind me, as the warmth hit us, said “Wow, where ARE we??” 😀
I’m curious to smell Beige edp. I bought 2 minis of the edt (just finished one off last weekend) and love it, but I can see how there is room for improvement (in sillage and tenacity.) Has anyone smelled both?
I had the worst faux pas autocorrect over at the Posse, even worse than Cuirass Beluga. “Kneipp”, a brand of vegan body products, miss auto-corrected to “Insipid”.
Oh, no!! That IS bad. 🙂
Just popping in for a quick visit. Robin, I’m glad you’re starting to feel better. Lyme is horrible.
I’ve been testing Bracken Woman again this week and I just can’t seem to wrap my head around it. I think I love it until some tiny dissonance in the base notes sets in. I expect I will end up with a bottle when it hits the discounters 😉 It just smells like spring fields and crushed citrusy herbs to me and I can’t pin any of the notes down.
I’m enjoying sun-day so far. We’ve had plenty lately along with very dry winds, and today is a bit overcast and still. There is a huge horde (looks like five fledglings and the parents) of recently fledged wrens in my back yard being harried by a very annoyed mockingbird. The poor little wrens are flapping awkwardly around and the cats are going ballistic at the windows. I should be filming this but I’m not.
Thank you!
And what fun out the back — but poor kitties.
SOTD: Lalique le Parfum, which is a pretty, honeyed floral.
In honor of Donatella’s bday, I bought the last bottle of Melissa Flagg Hawaiian Botanicals Punani perfume yesterday from Anthrpologie. I’d tried it many times in passing and really liked this creamy, realistic gardenia but figured I’d get it another time, but from the looks of things in the store, they’re paring way down on their fragrance collection and this line isn’t making the cut, it seems, so I had no choice, really ????
Longevity is not great but it was relatively inexpensive so I can just spray away!
You smell lovely.
As for the Melissa Flagg, it’s important to treat FOMO, if it will cause undue anxiety.
Good thinking!
Goodness! I got quite a jolt at the mention of a “punani” perfume. Oh, okay …. the flower. 😉 ELdO missed the boat on that one!
Ha! Well it is rather feminine. Spelled “punaany” for that purpose. And according to the dictionary- may originate from “putain” so that sort of covered that theme already.
“so I had no choice”….. 🙂 love that!!!!
diam blonde today for no particular reason
that’s the perfect reason. you smell fab. 🙂 sometimes when the world asks “why?” we owe it to ourselves to joyfully reply “why not?”
I’m wearing JM Nectarine Blossom and Honey.
Continuing the Sniffapalooza report in dribs and drabs-
The Diptyque on Bleeker St. Is beautiful shop that is worth going into just to see the walls. The staff there is amazing. The manager, Christian (?) talked about his own scent memories, and is passionate about fragrance.
Elizabeth and Prince streets are home to many other shops on the Sunday schedule:
Malin and Goetz- body products and candles. They carry the Atelier Bloem fragrance collection, which
in brief testing , were well done. I liked the Iris and William the most.
Le Labo and Atelier are practically next to each other as are Credo beauty and Red Flower. There isn’t anything new at LL and Atelier, but the shops have knowledgeable staff and all the products. Exploration time was limited, ( and thankfully $ spent) but it it’s a good overview for planning a return trip.
Robin , you smell very pretty. Hope the Beige is lifting your spirits.
Well, it’s giving me something to live up to. It is so elegant and I am so tired, LOL…
First off…you smell delicious!
second, thanks for that tidbit…my girlfriend wants to explore MIN for my next birthday which is also downtown…maybe we should make a day and venture into the territory you described above…sounds like everything is within walking distance 🙂
Osswald is also within walking distance of that area. They have amaaazing staff and lines that aren’t carried elsewhere. It isn’t open on Sunday.
Would love to rendezvous next time you plan a visit.
Definitely 🙂
and thanks for the other recommendation too….
I have never done the Sunday. Glad you enjoyed it (except for Byredo). They really should do Aedes on the itinerary!
SOTD is PdE Tabac Tabou for the honey note. Plus I’m experimenting: if I wear it in spring can I train my brain not to associate it with cold weather /winter only?
I’ve been trying to re-train my brain too on a number of fragrances. So far with limited success. 🙁 Good luck!
I’m not feeling optimistic about this experiment but I’m willing to give it a try. Some smells are intensely seasonal for me.
Intersting — I can only wear Tabac Tabou in the spring!
🙂
It’s very much a spring and early summer fragrance for me, too.
When I got the sample last year it was spring, but I also wore it in late summer, in autumn and in winter (Its a bit dense so I dont felt like trying it when it is really hot outside)…and now my sample is almost gone. I think I can still get one wear out of it, maybe I’ll save it for friday.
…conclusion: I did not find it hard to associate this scent with at least 3 seasons.
The narcissus is a reminder of spring, but the hay/tobacco/honey make it also suitable for colder months imo.
My instinct told me to pull this out for wearing and I put it back because I thought the sweetness was from the hay note. I will likely wear this tomorrow and save the best ’til Friday.
I’m wearing Farmacia SS. Annunziata Vaniglia from a decant. It’s a luscious vanilla and comfortable, but not much more, no apparent development. I don’t get any lemon or floral, just a bit of the amber. More recently my go-to scent has been Histoire de Parfums 1873 (Colette). I can’t get enough of its tangerine-citrus juiciness.
I might need to add that to my never-ending sample list. I picked up a little bottle of Ambre 114 and 1826 during the Sephora 15% off sale, so I’m a fan.
SOTD today is Huitième Art “Vohina”. Notes are honey, peach blossom and hay. A rather fragile beauty I’m afraid, so no use to me in the long term. But very pretty while it lasts. :^)
My, that sounds lovely!
It does!
SOTD: Guerlain Terracotta Voile d’Ete. Despite the word “summer” in its name, this works well in cool weather. I think because of the carnation spice.
Happy Hump Day all! 🙂
I usually wear Terracotta Voile d’Ete in Spring and the beginning of Fall and the original Terracotta in Summer. They are both beautiful!
When you say “original one” do you mean Quand Vient L’Ete? That was the LE that preceded Voile. But I agree, this one works just fine in Spring and Fall as well.
No, I got confused. I was talking about Terracotta Le Parfume, which is very summery. I just sprayed on some Quand Vient L’Ete and the carnation takes the lead. The drydown is very nice, vanilla and caramel.
How different is the Voile from the (whatever the pillar version is)? I have a decant of the original and it is a bit overwhelming for me, though I like it conceptually.
I’ve not smelled the newer version they came out with (Terracotta Le Parfum). This is definitely not overwhelming – very sheer and summery, a hint of carnation, a light vanilla/tonka bean drydown. In either ad copy or a review, I remember reading about J. P. Guerlain wanting the smell of the sun on terracotta tiles. There’s a bit of that if you look for it.
Perfume Shrine compared them – evidently there were three different versions.
http://perfumeshrine.blogspot.com/2014/04/guerlain-terracotta-le-parfum-fragrance.html
Monsieur Guerlain describes Voile and gives the history of the scent:
http://www.monsieurguerlain.com/2015/09/voile-dete.html
I’ve got the 1999 version in the round bottle.
IMHO not much difference.
SotM = Chanel Beige
I have a smidgen of Beige in a sample vial from a few years ago. This morning I will finish it.
I’ve been alternately spritzing Chanel Eau de Cologne and No. 5 EdP since late on Monday. Looking forward to more of the same today. I love those scents even more when the weather turns warm.
Now that I have my very own sea of samples thanks to my generous friend I might go with Beige tomorrow….so many choices, so little skin!
Go for it! I love Beige, although I think it would overwhelm me if I tried it from a spray bottle. That’s why my little dabber sample has lasted forever.
Loving the “Om” link. I’m listening right now. Had to laugh when the youtube commercial before the song began was for the Steve Martin Teaches Comedy Masterclass. It’s real, not a joke! I usually skip youtube commercials, but Mr. Martin is irresistable, lol.
And many thanks to Robin for today’s fragrant inspiration. Beige is wonderful.
Glad you enjoyed the song….well, Beige is sitting on my computer at work and my intent was to wear it tomorrow..but then right before I left I sprayed Heliotrope Blanc and nearly swooned….so I think I might follow my heart and wear that one tomorrow…I am failing miserably with honey week but I am just excited about trying all of my new goodies!
Hey twin!
In Rahele! The last of my swaps arrived yesterday…. La di dah I am pleased.
And on a random note…for the cat folks here (others may roll their eyes and move on!) a “science” story from the New York Times:
“Researchers at Oregon State University offered 38 cats a choice between food, a toy, an interesting smell (catnip, a gerbil) and attention from a human.”
Wanna read more?
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/01/science/cats-love-people.html?smprod=nytcore-ipad&smid=nytcore-ipad-share&_r=0
Fascinating…..thanks for sharing….as a cat lover I would agree 🙂
How is your hand, by the way? on the mend, I hope.
Hand is mending but it HOITS! (It is okay so long as I don’t type, drive, wash my hands, get dressed, or think about it 😉 )
sit back and let family members take over chores 🙂
Oof! I hope the pain doesn’t last too long! Hands are useful tools (except when you can’t use ’em.)
You smell fantastic!
Dang it, I do.
Lucas, I meant to respond to your comment yesterday about the Carner Barcelona D600… the minute I first sniffed it I immediately thought of you and your love of elegant irises!
That’s so nice. I do love D600, have a partial bottle of it.
And for tomorrow look out for my new Carner review.
hint* hint* the novelty also features iris.
You smell FAB.
I can never get enough of cat related articles, thank you! 🙂
Jiji, I hope you see this – it has kept me giggling all week:
https://twitter.com/b_ru_ru/status/847368727016259584/video/1
I didn’t get a chance to comment on your accident! Best wishes for speedy healing!
Le Sillage Blanc by Dusita today. Quite enjoying it. I can’t bring myself to wear any honey perfumes as it’s been rather warm here in SOCAL and I haven’t been in the mood.
I have never tried any Dusita. Which one is your favorite.
My favorite is her gardenia: Melodie de L’amour. I think it is absolutely stunning. BUT I also love Oudh Infini. Which. I imagine is a love it or hate it thing. It’s about as funky and sweet of an oud as I’ve ever smelled. (Similar in funk with maybe Frederic Malle The Night. ) I just tried the other new EDP La Douceur de Siam which I also think is nice.
Thanks. Funky scares me! Now I recall Kafka reviewing this line positively.
Racking my brains for the list of samples with honey notes that I possess… Might have to go to Fragrantica to see if that will help. (Might also bail on the challenge, depending on whether I’m visiting Mom on Friday. If that’s the day they move her to the rehab center, it might not be a great day to go. Hovering makes Dad anxious.)
Eau Premiere again today, for Mom.
I don’t know if you have any of these but I find these all have strong honey notes off the top of my head: Back to Black by Kilian, Essences Insensees Mimosa Diptyque, Absolue pour le Soir MFK, Honey Oud Floris, Miel de Bois Serge Lutens, Nahema and Rose Barbare Guerlain.
Thanks for list! I don’t think I have samples of any of those except the BK (which I didn’t really like). The only one I have on hand that comes to mind is iPdF Miele Rosa.
Do you have an Ungaro Diva mini? Might be my choice for Fri.
OOOH, you know, I think I do. It’s not *very* honey-ish, I would say, but it is in there. (Now to find it.)
I’ll add to Elizabeth’s list: Amouage Journey Woman, Coco EdP, Sensuous Noir & Nude, White Linen (really? it’s in the published notes,) Ginestet Botrytis, Ambre Narguilé, Hiris, Ombre Rose, Mechant Loup, Paloma Picasso, DelRae Amoureuse, SL Chergui, Féminité du bois, Nuit de Cellophane, Sa majesté la rose; Angel, VCA Rose Velours.
Oh my.
There is honey in Hiris.
Mind.
Blown.
I saw Angel on the list and thought Angel Muse. Sadly, no honey or beeswax note listed 🙁 even though it smells like it does!
Oh, I have Amoureuse. I guess it just smells like black locust blossoms to me and I forget about the honey…
And I am probably alone in this, but I, um.
(whispers) I don’t like Chergui. Don’t tell on me, please. 🙂
6 sprays for you and maybe you will see the error of your ways ;-). I did not like it the first time when I barely wore 2 spritzes. More is more with this!
Mals, I’m a bit conflicted about Chergui, too. I like the dry down, but there is a charred note, or something, at first, that I’m not wild about. You’re not alone!
Maybe we need 6 sprays per hajusuuri…maybe that will do the trick. ????
It’s the drydown I don’t like. It smells like (oh gosh, I’m going to get myself in trouble here) old people’s houses.
I dunno, maybe it was just my grandmother’s friends, something they did or didn’t do? The houses always smelled the same, under varying topnotes of powdered Sanka or lemon furniture polish or toothpaste: mildew, damp stone, powder and very slight decay.
It’s finally — and suddenly — hot enough for Eau de Magnolia, so that’s what I’m wearing. I love that this fragrance captures magnolia’s weird texture — creamy and sort of astringent at the same time.
Huzzah for warmth!
So lovely! Can’t wait for it to get warmer here so I can break out the EdM.
Chilly again today, so I chose Dame Dark Horse. More rain the the forecast so I’m stretching out my cooler weather perfumes.
I’m probably sounding like a crashing bore commenting every time on DH, but you smell wonderful!
As have I been. I pulled some spring perfumes out in March and am still waiting for the weather to match them. *taps foot* It’s rained all but a few days since the beginning of 2017 where I am and barely warmed up since January.
My SOTD is Hiram Green’s Moon Bloom. I’m glad he changed the bottles from the bulb sprayer to a regular sprayer. Perfumes with bulb sprayers evaporate more quickly…at least in my experience. However, I own both the bulb spray bottle of not only Moon Bloom but also Shangri-La.
You smell fantastic!
You smell great!
Hiram Green is such a fantastic brand imo. And what makes it even better, he also sells travel atomizers.
I tried Dilettante for first time last week and its already a big love for me (straight to the top of my wish list)
Just when I think I will not purchase any more perfumes for a while, something else comes out and I know if I try it I will want it!
The longest no-buy period I had since I started my fragrance obsession in february 2016, is probably 5 to 6 weeks…
🙁
Hi All! Happy Wednesday!
1) Thank the Lord, we will have sunshine and 80+ degree weather today! We are due some heat and some sun!
2) Yesterday, worker came and fixed the majority of damage from the winter storms- carpet pad replaced and anti-microbial applied, ceiling patched and fixed, some electrical finetuning and I even had cleaners come in to do the carpets and floors. I also purchased painting supplies, and got more painting samples. This weekend, I will be doing window treatment shopping! #moneymoneymoney
3) In the mail. I got my Prada Infusion miniature dabber set! They are so cute and darling! Based on the recommendation from lucasai, I am wearing L’infusions d’ Oeillet. This is simply lovely- you have the lovely spicy carnation-amber scent- but with a fresh lightness. If you like spicy scents BUT want lightness, this is one to try. If I can I would like to get a full bottle of this.
1- 🙂
2- 🙁 the having to spend money part- although your house will look fabulous when all is said and done 🙂
3- 🙂
From where did you this Prada Infusion mini set of which you speak please?
Hello, Princess of the Universe-
I got the mini set from FragranceNet. It was packaged very nicely and the little dabbers (.27 ounces or 8 mL) are in a presentation box.
*searches* you can also get this on Notino and looks like Groupon offered this as well.
Fun!
Thanks very much!
Yay for those Prada Infusions minis, I love them all. 🙂
I am in 1932 EDT today…Mals wore it yesterday which reminded me I hadn’t worn it in a while.
I haven’t sniffed the EDP of this one b/c the EDT is so good. Looking on Fragrantica it doesn’t look good… 🙁
“Tested both new EdP 2016 & earlier EdT purchased in 2013. I much prefer the earlier EdT which has no grapefruit/pear note. The EdT shows more orris root/jasmine with sheer incense notes. As noted, they really seem like two different fragrances.”
My theme for this week isn’t honey it appears but complaints about Chanel’s EDPs. 😉
😀
last paragraph- LOL!
Joining you in the complaints… 🙂
Hee! That should be a theme for a week: “kvetching about your favorite fragrances!”
If think we can go for months with the kvetching!
Oh indeec! And much more experienced amongst us could while having a few versions of the scent!????
You smell lovely! I received a decant of the EDT in a swap (thanks, Elizabeth!!), so I was recently looking at the notes and reviews for the EDP on Fragrantica too, and it damn near made me weep. I hate pear. And the EDT is just so beautiful, I don’t understand why Chanel would fiddle with it like that. Go add fruit to something else, for Pete’s sake, and keep it out of the flowers and aldehydes! …So that’s me complaining about the EDPs, too, then.????
glad you’re enjoying! it really is beautiful. I do not regret spending a fortune on all the bottles I wanted before the reformulation, it was worth it.
I spent a lot of money on the Chanel Exclusif EDTs too…I have at lease 10 of them, not including Boy, which is an EDP.
I think you made a very wise investment!
That sounds like a good weekly project!
Not a Sun Day here, more cool rain so figured it was a good day for Ambre Narguile. It has been a while since I wore this and forgot that it has more oomph than the other Hermessences so maybe too many spritzes for the office. Whoops!
Ah, but you do smell delicious!
good whoops
Yay Sun Day! It is truly a warm, sunny day here (to be followed by two cool rainy days, I believe)! I’m trying out Santal 33 today thanks so a sweet NSTer. I’m enjoying it thus far, but not loving it as I do Tam Dao.
Tam Dao rules 🙂
It’s cool and rainy and I’m in the sample of maharanil that I turned into body oil. There’s probably some honey in the mix, but the oil application quiets this lavender mix a bit. I quit the old job (the night job that was my “day” job?) And the transition is a little bumpy, but exciting. Less time to check things here, but I’m sure that’ll settle soon.
Hope the job goes well!
thanks!
I tried your diluting samples in oil with a couple Diorissimo samples I had and it works nicely!
ooh that would be a nice one, and perhaps make it last longer, you smell lovely, and I’m probably going to copy you next week!
Most days are Sun Day here in sunny San Diego, though May and June tend to actually be pretty cloudy, as you know – May Gary and June Gloom! It is a lovely sunny day today. Just put on some L’Occitance Honey & Lemon. Not terribly honeyish and just a little lemon – I mostly get a light patchouli.
You are making me homesick — although actually, May and June are probably nicer in PA. The rest of the year, I’d take San Diego 🙂
It is a weird time in May & June – usually the rest of the country is blazing hot and we are waiting for it to warm up.
For years, I lived in OB and May/June were gloomy, but the rest of the year!! ????
Hey! I live in OB (for the winter half of the year)!
My SOTD Narcisco Rodriguez. 🙂
Ah, you smell lovely. 🙂
I was up much of the night with a grumpy toddler, so I wanted something light and energizing today. I reached for Mugler Cologne but was unable to get the cap off with my lotion-slick hands. Wound up in the easier-to-open Oscar de la Renta Sargasso. Here’s to my day improving . . .
My thoughts are with you. 🙂 I kept my sister’s two year old Friday evening. My son is 17, so I’ve forgotten how challenging toddlers can be at times. Hang in there!
Jolie Madame!
Well, relief is the emotion of my day…blood pressure for the puppygirl is down in the normal range after a week of bumping up her new med. It’s on the high side of normal, but we’ll take it. I don’t wanna gush, but we have the greatest dog ever, and the greatest vet ever!!
Okay, on the perfume side of things…I’m in a tiny bit of AA Calling All Angels and some bigger spritzes of Elie Saab Le Parfum Eau de Parfum Intense, both from samples. Whew, what a name! Both have some honey in them, although the honey note is much more noticeable in the ES.
They sit alongside each other very well – they have several common notes, but completely different styles. I didn’t intend to do a compare, but it’s been fun to see how they develop!
I hope everyone is having a lovely day. 🙂
Love Calling All Angels! You smell wonderful!
Thanks, Rappleyea!
Great news for your puppy girl! You must feel so relieved. And you smell great!
I am very relieved, for sure. It’s just my hubby and me, so she’s our ‘dogter’. ????
Us too. Our puppy girl’s name is Dot. I call her my darling Dotter. 🙂
Great news about the puppy. Calling All Angels is superb!
Yes, it is amazing!
I am a bundle of nerves today. We’re taking the kids tomorrow on their first plane trip and first time in NYC. Throw in 2 nights worth of very expensive Broadway show tickets and a cold, rainy forecast plus trying to wrap things up at work… you get the picture.
SOTD is Muguet Porcelaine, which as it turns out I do not like so much. Banana flavored Laffy Taffy, anyone?
Have a wonderful adventure in NYC. You’re making great memories.
LOL’d at banana Laffy Taffy. That’s why I like Muguet Porcelaine. 🙂
Hope your NYC adventure is wonderful and your nerves calm soon. Hugs.
Have a wonderful trip! It’ll all go well in the end 🙂
I’ve never gotten banana laffy taffy from Muguet Porcelaine (which as a non-fan of muguet I was surprised to really like) but that’s what my H thinks Séville à l’Aube smells of.
Seville a l’Aube sometimes makes me think of banana bread.
Enjoy your trip & good luck!
I had high hopes for Muguet Porcelaine but the melon note is insanely strong on me. Still on the hunt for a go-to muguet.
Me too. The melon killed it.
Safe trip and have fun!
Enjoy your trip. You will have lots of fun! I get some banana note from Muguet Porcelain, but it does not bother me much.
Have fun in the Big Apple!
Sun Day, wooo! Hooray for solar power!
SOTD is Dame Perfumery Bergamot, Jasmine & Labdanum. [Sniff] Ahhh.
Happy Hump Day, all you fine NSTers.
We have a solar water heater, and I hope to have a whole roof of panels someday!
I’d love a roof of panels too! …And when I rule the world, every building in this town (and others like it) will have panels and a water catchment system.
Day three of unwelcome midsummer-like heat in early May . . . SOTD is Fidji eau de toilette. Splash on! Plus I also have Fidji bath powder and body lotion, to pamper myself even more.
Perfect! Funny how you never see splash any more, and that’s all I used to buy.
I got it on eBay . . .
Let me guess, you really like Fidgi?
Yes, I do! Lovely in summer, yet adaptable to cooler seasons as well. I like the parfum for winter, edt for warmer days.
You know it’s turning to winter when you hear the first mouse of the year scuttling about in the ceiling.
So, went to the shops yesterday to find a honey perfume and was helpfully directed towards ( drum roll ) Honey. It’s not. But never mind.
Recently i have started thinking of my perfumes as either milky/ cloudy or clear…as in the juice ( even though they are all clear in reality). So, JM cardamon and mimosa is ‘milky’ whereas Monsieur Li is clear. Dame New Musk= milky. Cristalle= clear. Etc.. etc. sandalwoods are milky, cedars are clear.
I have also been spending a lot of time arguing with Chandler Burr during my morning walks.
Otherwise life is good!
Ha! I’m with you. What does Chandler Burr have to say on the matter. (And if you’re referring to MJ Honey, I agree. Dot smells honey-ish to me, though. Or honeysuckle-ish? Can’t remember…)
My argument with Chandler Burr is not related to Honey, just re. listing perfume notes. I watched a movie the other day (The Empire of Scents) that had him in it.
Ha, that is exactly how we mark the seasons in my very old house.
Good morning, all, on a cold, wet Thursday. I have the dentist to see today, nothing sinister, just a scale and clean, but ack! the smells. And the sounds. So, here’s some perfumista logic for you, or perhaps you’ll decide it’s just me up to my usual tricks, but it goes like this: my dentist is just around the corner from World. At World, there is Frapin. On the Frapin shelf, there is 1692. This appointment was re-scheduled from March to May, my birthday month. Can you see how it’s A Meant Thing for me to step around the corner to World and buy this boozy beauty?
Truth to tell, I don’t really know why I suddenly, out of the blue, decided I need a bottle of 1692. Yes, the weather has turned, and yes, I feel like wearing big, warm spicy scents, but I have several Then too, I lay awake last night waiting for Dakkie to start roaring, and he didn’t, but I didn’t sleep anyway. At some point, I idly read Kevin’s review of 1692, and there, just like that, a little lemming was born. Awww. So, no SOTD thus far, but very soon, I will prance off in to work in a waft of spiced rum and brandy.
Be well, fragrant people of the world. What a service we perform!
You deserve that bottle for several reasons:
1. World class, Olympic gold medal reasoning
2. It’s your birthday month
3. It’s meant to be
4. It’s Kevin’s fault
5. You suffered through a dentist appointment
6. It’s a beautiful scent
Enjoy! You will smell great!
And happy birthday!
Thank you! B-day is still some time away, and the credit card has hiccups at the thought that this reasoning will persist unti it arrives. There’s still La Pausa, not to even think of all my little splurges in the States. But then again, why not? It’s there, and so am I, and there might be a war (heaven forfend!) and then there won’t be any more perfumes for a long time….
Wonder if DH will buy the threat of war excuse? Love it. ????
There could be a volcanic eruption in Auckland that disrupts perfume buying – and the heat of the molten lava will bring out the best in 1692 . Also, we should support the small, local retailers. Also, it’s a good perfume and you can test Amouage Lilac while you are there. Also, Thursday is Potential Brand New Best Beloved Perfume Day. Also, if you go to World you will have the fun of hearing the word ‘fabulous’ or ‘gorgeous’ repeated.
In fact, 5 times in two sentences (I counted), together with some highly dubious story about the origins of a perfume that was quite nice. BUT (and this is just pure badness on their part) they’re not carrying 1692 any more. Huh! I sprayed a little 1270, but it’s not as deep or as powerful. Not a lemming, in fact. Well, there’s still La Pausa…
That’s very tedious…especially when you’re primed for buying 1692. I’ve been wearing 1970 which isn’t really boozy and Immortal Beloved ( which has a nice rum note). Both are warm and rich but not 1692.
4. HA
Maybe we should blame him in our quarterly confession!
Hilarious! You are 100% right 😀
Beige is a perfect work scent.
It was one of those days when I was so busy I didn’t put on an perfume until 1 pm, but I’m making up for it now in L’Arte di Gucci
It is, but I’m not sure I lived up to it today.
I never did smell L’Arte di Gucci.
I was just sniffing Beige on my wrist and thinking it has a bit of the same feeling as Infusion d’Iris, also the Prada Amande. Perfect work scents for sure. I love wearing them.
You smell great. I should wear L’ Arte di Gucci tomorrow. Gucci created one heck of a beast chypre in that perfume!
I decided to be on-theme (at least sort of) by using up the last of my sample of Demeter Beeswax. I also realized, because of Bastet’s comment above about Serge Lutens, that I have one more option for this week than I thought. Somehow I totally forgot that Chergui has a honey note.
5 sprays, use 5 sprays – I did yesterday!
I love Demeter’s Beeswax and also their Honey!
Wearing Gardenia Batik for my first day of vacation with my sweetie
Hope it is wonderful!
I’m not yet doing honey today, but have chosen plums instead. Very dark and moody ones. SOTD is Mon Parfum Chéri par Camille. Wonderful, and helped me get through a rather unpleasant day of work.
Sorry that your work day wasn’t nice. I hope that it was not something ongoing… who needs that kind of stress?
Not really, although work is a drag at the moment, but I can deal, and I don’t work full time, so it’s not taking over my life. And thank you for asking!
You smell great. Hope the perfume helped uplift your day.
It’s very firmly spring here, hot and humid and threatening rain without actually following through. . . .
In La Chasse today – it’s in the lime creamsicle phase right now.
This morning I spied my long-mislaid tiny bottle of philosophy Fresh Cream smugly lounging on its side in the spot where a dozen or so samples usually lie in a jumble. To make sure I wasn’t hallucinating, I snatched up the bottle and sprayed. Thus, my SOTD.
Now I’m wondering if the perfume imps ran off with the bottle months ago and then tossed it back last night after they had tired of it…
Or was it really the cats?
The cats because yummy fresh CREAM!
Sooooo, I was bad. I just bought the Ormonde Jayne Discovery Set….for no reason at all other than I just wanted it. I’m going to need someone to hold me accountable and slap my card out of my hand periodically. 😯 There’s just soooooo much I want to smell though…
Totally understand wanting to smell ALL the smells!
But minis and samples don’t count, just like cookie crumbs have no calories.
I knew you all would help me justify my decision ????
Plus didn’t you have a reward due for closing a big deal? ????
SOTD = sampling AG Nuit Etoilee EdT. I usually don’t get along with immortelle, but this is a perfume that might change my mind about that note.
Do try the edp as well if you haven’t, it’s quite different from the edt. I personally prefer the edp as it has less citrus and more resin.
I agree…I sampled both on Saturday and would chose the edp over the edt…also, much much better lasting power!
Ah! did not know there was immortelle in that one…I kept smelling citrus and pine when I sampled it on saturday…now it makes sense that I loved it as immortelle is one of my favorite essential oils.
I got the last limited edition bottle and you can take a guess as to who bought the second to the last one. To stimulating the economy!
LOL! of course you did (and wendysue too!)
The patio thermometer says it’s 83F in the shade and I’m not wearing a coat for the first time since September. I’m also radiating a goodly amount of Paco Rabanne La Nuit for working in the yard. I am so happy to be warm.
It is 87F in the shade here… a decidedly damp cashier at the supermarket grumbled that “we skipped spring.” My son’s friend caught a ride home with me today–while fastening his seat belt he cheerfully explained, “I guess we won’t have a spring!” And when I got home, a phone message from a friend included her despairing complaint, “Where did spring go?” The cats? I think their meows roughly translate as “Ow oh ow oh ow it is HOT!”
Can you send me some of that heat? It is in the 40’s and windy here in Montreal, I would kill for a warm sunny day.
Yay warm weather! We rarely have a true Spring here in Alabama, but it’s been rather nice (well, for us) this year. Cazaubon, I took a solo trip to Montreal and Quebec City 3 years ago. So so so beautiful!
Robin, you smell wonderful, I love Beige and also Misia. Both are very comforting.
Today’s SOTD is Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier eau de toilette layered over the body oil. Lots of juicy and pulpy fig, it will be perfect for today’s unusually hot SF weather!
Robin, I hope you are feeling MUCH better!
SOTD= MCG Sideris
Beeswax and I don’t care that it is not Honey…I am still on theme! Incense, beeswax, something that is almost iris-like but is not iris (I bet it’s the “mountain tea”).
I have seen the worst in human nature in a work setting and it all boils down to selfishness; sad to say, 3 in 3 days. A very senior manager who likes to make waves, lies and bully people into acceding to her wants. A colleague who was magically able to get medical documentation to get a preferred seat in a new workplace. A colleague who wants others to go through what she went through a month ago (nothing bad, just an inconvenience) even though we already solved the issue that caused the inconvenience.
Regarding the first one, I was not the target but have no outlet as there is no way to prove bad behavior. Regarding the second, it is akin to an able-bodied person getting a handicapped tag from an unscrupulous doctor and I cannot question it due to HIPAA. Regarding the third, I pretty much dictated that there will be no variation to how I will handle it regardless of her whining. All three appear to have all the fine trappings in life and their sense of entitlement is sickening.
Off my soap box. Now does this somewhat explain why I constantly engage in retail therapy: at Sniffa and today (FB of Prada Infusion d’Mimosa, Iris 39 Shower Gel, Jo Malone Geranium and Walnut Hand Cream and a $10 Estee Lauder pencil sharpener (ha! now all I need are the scented pencils and erasers – I blame Robin for posting the Daily Lemmings)?
That sense of entitlement is an epidemic, imo. Well, better fragrant retail therapy than other possible coping mechanisms, right!?
Who says I don’t? Heh, just kidding 🙂
ack! don’t get me started about workplace shenanigans ! but you do smell good and you are most definitely stimulating the economy 🙂
Hope today is a better day for you, hajusuuri!
