Happy Almost-Friday! (And apologies for being so late, I am not feeling well and so I slept in this morning, much longer than I thought I would.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm commando at the moment (see note above).
Reminder: on 4/28, will it be Gucci or Givenchy? Pick one and make your case, or wear one of each.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is from the Gucci Garden capsule collection, 2016.
SOTD today is Dior Homme. Hope you feel better soon, Robin.
Thank you!
Feel better Robin, allergies?
Commando also , so no -scent-twins with Robin
Planning on going on a sniffing adventure to Zitomer pharmacy that I have never been and to Malle’s store a few blocks away.
Listening to a Room with a View soundtrack and having a cafè au lait
Pretty sure I have Lyme, most unfortunately, and probably one of the zillion possible co-infections since I’m having some symptoms that match Lyme and some that don’t. Was feeling “off” for a couple of days, progressed to “bad” yesterday, found the deer tick on my neck last night. Not well pleased, although actually it’s amazing that I’ve lived in SE PA for 20 years now and haven’t had Lyme already. My husband has had it twice.
Your day sounds lovely, have a great time!
Hopefully the antibiotic protocol kicks in quickly!!
Yikes! My oldest got a tick bite last summer (N Wisconsin) and was treated prophylactically with antibiotics. He had a welt the size of a large grapefruit on the back of his leg.
Lymes scares me. Take care!!
Hope you feel better soon, Robin! I got a tick bite last summer but was thankfully already on the appropriate antibiotic for a different infection, and my subsequent ELISA was negative.
So sorry Robin!
They just has a PBS special on ticks and Lyme that we watched. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/finding-solution-control-lyme-disease-isnt-simple/
Speedy recovery & rest up!
Wow – that sure rings true! We have deer in our back yard all the time. I feel so bad for them, they have nowhere to go in my town, and they look half starving.
Ugh, so sorry to hear this. I hope the treatment kicks in ASAP!
Poor u!, wishing u a speedy recovery, and lots of rest.
Oh, no! Have they made some progress on treatment for Lymes? I remember friend’s who got this years ago were facing a long illness but today it seems it’s not as dire. Hope you feel better soon!
Ugh — sorry you aren’t feeling well, but glad you caught it early if it is Lyme! Hope you have a nice, restful day ahead of you.
WOW Robin!! Hope you’re on the mend quick! Lyme disease is no joke…hope you’re on antibiotics. REST REST REST!! Hydrate!!! 🙂
😯 I hope you feel better soon!!
Oh, no! So sorry. Hope you feel better soon.
Oh, how awful. Hope you’re diagnosed and recover quickly. Sending thoughts of good health!
Oh no, hope you’re better very soon.
Speedy recovery, Robin! My brother had it, took the meds and got better quickly. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Oy yikes, Lyme! Hope you feel better soon. I have a head cold but that’s nothing compared to Lyme. No perfume for me today either.
Hope those meds kick in ASAP and you feel better!
Thank you everyone! Started abx tonight and hopefully will feel better soon.
Hope the meds knock it down quickly and you feel better soon!
I hope you’ll feel better soon, Robin.
Organza I wore yesterday put me in the mood for more white florals. So my SOTD is Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger. Such a lush and heady scent!
Yes it is 🙂
Hope you are feeling better Robin !!
Today, I am wearing Sylvaine Delacourte Dovana from her Musk series. I may have also ordered travel sprays of this and Florentina and received a travel spray of Smeraldo as a GWP.
This whole collection sits well on my skin – nice musk + flowers. Perfect for all day meeting days.
Last night’s music festival went till 11 pm, so lots of coffee today.
I didn’t like them at first, but when you wear them as your SOTD it inspires me to spray my samples, and therefore they are growing on me.
They are really nice on me, although the Helicriss is my least favourite. I would not invest in a 100 ml bottle, but 15 ml for 23 pounds + free shipping + a 3rd spray free was just too good of a deal to pass up.
Hope you fell better soon!
Started the day with Leau Chic which disappeared in one hour then applied Hiris.
Just got off the bus and asked a women what perfume she was wearing, it smelled so nice and simple. She answered Victoria Secret but I have no idea which one as I didn’t have time to ask the name!
I asked a woman the other day about her perfume, and it was Victoria’s Secret Crush. She smelled so happy and fun!
Maybe she’s one of us and was wearing the original 😀 I wore the now long-discontinued VS Her Majesty’s Rose in the late 80s/early 90s and occasionally long to smell it again.
The original Victoria (first fragrance by VS) was glorious…and the bottle was so classy and beautiful..fluted glass with a lapis blue top.
Almost sure she was wearing the original. She was really chic and probably 70…
Agreed, the original was glorious. They really should bring it back.
I bought a sample set from Olympic Orchids and found Seattle Chocolate and Blackbird to be tolerable but I also bought Gujarat, since that is the name of the province of India where my son-in-law’s parents were born. In my opinion, that was the worst scent I have ever smelled in my life so I scrubbed and scrubbed and threw it in the garbage. Now I am wearing Organza Indecence and feeling much happier.
Oh, no! I’ve smelled CA Chocolate and Blackbird. Blackbird has the strongest, most pungent pine note I’ve ever smelled. I have a tiny sample vial wrapped in plastic in a drawer with some other perfumes, and every time I open the drawer I get a massive whiff of pine.
Richmond Ferry is also quite pine-y, but not quite as strong as Blackbird. I don’t really like it either, but I can understand why others might.
I found Gujarat very evocative but also nauseating and unwearable. It really did conjure up an overcrowded, sweaty bus ride, diesel fumes and all, and a spice market on a very hot day somewhere in India (never been).
I was Facetiming with my daughter and her family this evening and my son-in-law said it should smell like sweat and air pollution, so I guess it is authentic.
Goal achieved!
Blackbird has a note in it that does not play well on my skin. It is the berry part. I love Gujarat and bought a bottle and wear it on really hot and humid days. I find it very dry and savory. There is nothing sweet about it. I layer it with jasmine or coconut lotion.
Good morning Y’all….
Scentless at the moment, due to herding kids out the door that possess the speed of snails some mornings! 🙂 Will find my rollerball of Clean Skin in the dark hole of my purse at some point!
In other smelly news, I finally bought an essential oils diffuser, and WOWZERS! It’s possible to make the entire house smell fabulous! For those of you into essential oils, I’d sure love to know some of your recipes for various purposes….Sleep? Balance? Immunity? Share your best oil combinations please! 🙂
Hi Jada! Congrats on your purchase and I know you’ll have a lot of fun with it. Enfleurage in NYC has some excellent blends if you would like to try those first, or just read their ingredients and purchase the separate oils yourself. Eden Botanicals is a great resource for high-quality oils. If you’d like to research the different attributes of the various oils, Eden Botanicals’ site will refer you to further reading material available for each oil and you can read up online or buy a couple of books.

I just ordered 16 of the most popular oils from Amazon…I already had 5 or 6 that I used topically or in my water. I’ve been googling all morning and the ideas are endless! LOL
Between the oils and my Himalayan salt lamp, I’m going hippie in my old age! 🙂
Ooooooh…..I need to find a reason to go to NYC, and soon! Enfleurage looks amazing!!! 🙂
The reason is to meet the NYC NSTers. What other reason do you need?
LOL!
Well, not to enable or anything but you can order online. 🙂
Eden Botanicals is great because you can order samples. I purchase from White Lotus also and like to add cedar, pine and cypress to my diffuser.
Hi Jada,
If you’ll email me at rappleyea11 in the land of yahoooo, I will send you some of the handouts from when I taught aromatherapy. I’ll warn you – e.o.s and aromatherapy are as addictive as perfume! 🙂
Donna
Emailing you now! THANK YOU!!! 🙂
I have a oil diffuser, mine is sort of “old fashioned” I pour the oil the ceramic elephant and light a candle. My favorite is eucalyptus for when everyone in the house has a stuffy nose.
I love eucalyptus too! I have a few that I’ve used topically in the past with carrier oils, but have never diffused before. Good stuff!! 🙂
I did a “Calming Blend” last night for the first try, and 2 kids didn’t like it. (I think I added too many drops.) But my middle kid LOVED it and wants her own diffuser in her room! 🙂
I almost always fill the diffuser, pour in a capful of either rosewater or orange-flower water (you can buy them at Walmart and they’re like $3 a bottle), and then add a couple of drops of whatever essential oil I feel like: grapefruit, orange, lime, Atlas cedar, or lavender. It makes a nice clean scent without being overpowering.
I would never have thought to look at Walmart for rosewater or
orange-flower water. What section of the store are they in?
When I lived in Indiana I would find rosewater in the small-ish “international” aisle of wal-mart. Amazon also has good prices if you can’t find it locally!
I’ll look there. Some of the bigger Walmarts around here have pretty good-sized international sections and I live in the town where Walmart has its HQ.
Oh, Jada, don’t encourage me. I’ve been eyeing diffusers and oils but have held off. The fact that you’re loving it only makes me want it more! Such an enabler… 🙂
Oh dear….I am late to this party as ya’ll know how much I love essential oils! I will second Holly on the Eden Botanicals as I have been ordering from them for years (the only oils I use for my perfume blends) and Enfleurage is also highly recommended. I am also going to recommend White Lotus which was recommended to me by Laurie of SSS. Good luck with your new endeavor!!!!
I will get on Eden’s site and ed-u-ma-cate my self! LOL! 🙂
I have a diffuser/ vaporizer. My favorite combo is cedar eo + rosewater+rose absolute. I also really like palmarosa which is very uplifting, and palo santo. And of course straight up lavender or lavender+rose.
Im off to get a diffuser! I have been wanting one for several months!I saw a lovely one at Muji, a Japanese shop I really like.
I got a cheap one from Amazon but the Muji’s are nice, too.
Ah, which Brand? I find the Muji one too expensive…
Is Sage in the US?
I got the Viva naturals one which is small and probably better for a smaller space.
Lea.
I’ve already made a small dent in my 100ml bottle, must pace myself.
To quote bear- Carp Diem….use it if you love it 🙂
Another stormy day here. I have nothing planned except coloring my hair and watching Baseball (hopefully it doesn’t get rained out) decided to test my sample of TF Sole di Positano. So far I really like it. It’s a very bright, easy going, summer scent. It reminds me of something way less expensive though, but I can’t place it. Robin, I really hope you recover quickly.
Coloring one’s hair and watching baseball sounds like a perfectly good day to me!
Thank you!
Oh no! Feel better soon!
Picked Nahema today. I’m so sleepy; I hope it will wake me up.
Hope it worked!
I decided to wear Eau de Givenchy today. I forget how much I like this until I wear it. Unfortunately, it vanishes quickly.
I love it too!
I hope you are feeling better soon, Robin. Give yourself as much time as you need to sleep and recuperate!
Wearing Heure Fouguese (sp?) today, and loving it for a misty spring day.
I can already tell I’m sleeping in again tomorrow!
Robin, I’m sorry you’re sick and hope you start feeling better soon.
My SOTD is Atelier Blanche Immortelle
Looking forward to wearing that this summer, I love it in the heat.
Hope you feel better soon, Robin!
Picked through the sample stash this morning looking for Gucci or Givenchy and came out with Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia. Yup, it is perfume. Not much more to say about it than that.
Have yet to ever even try a Givenchy. I’ll hVe to go to the store and try one just because.
I used to have a mini of this (I think it was a Sephora GWP) and I had the same reaction as you. Smells like perfume . . .
Ah, too bad. I’m so drawn to those Gucci Flora bottles.
Robin, no apologies needed of course. I hope you feel better soon!
Tried Iris Homme by Satori again this morning. Sprayed it this time and its better than dabbed.
Now wearing Dilettante by Hiram Green (from a sample) because of King’s Day. Almost the whole of the Netherlands is wearing orange, and its sunny!
I dont have orange clothing, but this orange blossom scent fits the festive mood as well.
This is also a beautiful scent by the way. Love it.
Jealous, you smell wonderful. I love Dilettante!
Dilettante is wonderful.
I am already (this is a 2nd wearing) considering buying that 10 ml travel spray…
Hi Jiji.
So. I did a little research on your Aperol (okay, I asked my husband if he’d heard of it 🙂 ! He hadn’t.) It is owned by the Campari company and shares a lot of same flavors–but is reportedly sweeter and has a lot less alcohol (but as an aside–wonders never cease–Wikipedia tells me that Campari’s alcohol varies from country to country depending on regulations from 20% to 28%!) My little cocktail bible doesn’t mention it at all, but does list several Campari cocktails. I thought perhaps it might be more widely known in Europe, but local BevMos (HUGE chain of liquor stores here) sells it. The upshot is that I want to try it–and am currently havering between something called a Cheeky Negroni and something called Rosemary, Baby! (the exclamation point is in the name) for our dinner party on Sat.
Thanks so much for this little exploratory tangent!! Whatever I drink on Sat I’m toasting you!
Thats so lovely to hear, Oakland Fresca! 🙂
Matter of fact. I just had an Aperol Spritz (its Aperol with Prosecco) at a friends party.
It is orange, so it fits the national dress code today haha, and it actually tastes pretty good!
Its less bitter than Campari, but also not jaw aching sweet.
Enjoy your dinner party tomorrow!
SOTD is just a little vintage Mitsouko, my go-to scent forever when I don’t know what else to wear.
Robin – take good care and get better soon!
What a wonderful go-to! You smell wonderful!
While I don’t have vintage, I also find Mitsouko a go-to. You smell fantastic!
I gave in to temptation and bought a mini of vintage Diorissimo (80s/early 90s) on eBay. It’s just lovely – the person I bought it from has a few more minis from the same estate and I am barely restraining myself from going back to the well . . .
You smell wonderful…
I wore vintage Diorissimo today too! The dry down is so gorgeous and goes on for hours. I got a good value bottle on ebay.
Twins! I was happy with my deal too, but I fear my 10ml won’t last long . . .
You smell lovely!
In Rose de Siwa from a decant. Another rose by Francis Kurkdjian, this one for MDCI Parfums. Rose and violet. Nuf said.
Gosh, I can’t afford it at all, but I love what Gucci has been putting out with its new director. Great picture choice!
SOTD V&R Magic – Lavender Illusion. It starts as a sweet candied lemon-current-lavender then slowly turns into dry smoky lavender. I am weirded out by the wide sweet-dry gap in this one. I would buy a cheapo shower gel that resembles the opening notes 😀
It’s mostly stuff that I have no use for, but yes, the pictures are fantastic!
Sending healing thoughts and wishes for comfort to our Fearless NST Leader Robin today.
sotd = Vanille Galante because it’s cool and cloudy this morning, and I would like to bake cookies. But I’m not going down that road. Last thing I need today is a sugar hangover.
I’m loving the fashion-y photos at the top of the daily sotd this week. My 10-year-old niece dresses herself a lot like that, but of course her clothes are from Target and Justice, lol. Her sartorial choices seem to channel 1980’s punk + 1970s Florida retiree. Nothing matches, lots of brights, florals, and leopard prints. As far as accessories go, too much is never enough. She’s a darling.
You smell great! Vanille Galante is perfect for when you need a little sweet treat but don’t want to actually *eat* one.
Thanks! Vanille Galante hits the sweet spot without sugar. 🙂
I’m in love with your niece and now I want some snickerdoodles. 🙂
yes! Snickerdoodles are my go-to cookie when I’m not in the mood for chocolate.
My Wegmans makes them fresh….
Lyme disease is scary. (Anything transmitted/carried by insects, actually, is pretty scary: Lyme, West Nile, malaria, Rocky Mtn spotted fever… bubonic plague…)
Feeling happy in Crown Bouquet again today.
Not to scare anybody, but my dad had RMSF about fifteen years ago. He never saw the tick and barely noticed the bite; he never had the rash common to the early stages of infection. Took his doctors four months to accurately diagnose and treat him. It led to severely reduced pancreatic function and, later, diabetes.
Y’all be careful out there. Robin, I do hope you recover completely and quickly.
You know, after spending too much time today doing research, it’s silly to worry about Lyme, it’s not likely anymore that you get “just” Lyme since so many ticks are carrying one or more tick borne disease and all the symptoms at least partially overlap and all the testing is not as accurate as one would like, and most doctors either don’t test or only test for Lyme. I was worried about taking abx when I wasn’t sure if I was infected, but after doing more reading, I wonder if everyone in PA shouldn’t be taking abx yearly just in case.
So sorry about your dad, that’s awful.
Apres l’Ondee, augmented with a dab of the new verision of Violette Precieuse, for longevity’s sake. Very pretty.
ooooh, that’s a perfect combination for a spring day. I love Apres l’Ondee.
How does Violette Precieuse compare to Aimez-Moi? I bought a mini of the latter recently hoping for a pretty violet but I mostly get fruit from it.
I love that so many people are wearing violets this spring. It’s one of my favorite notes and my “to try” list is growing very, very long!
Please take care of yourself, Robin.
1) SOTD: Eau de Soir. Perfect for this grey and green day!
2) The regime: Going well. Due to Birthday month I did fall off the wagon a bit, but overall I am still keeping up with the eating plan. The exercises I am keeping up, and even getting a bit stronger. One thing is that due to the weather I have not walked nor run as much. So I am gonna include cardio at the gym. I hate using the machines BUT you gotta do what you gotta do.
#1. mmmm 🙂
#2 When is your bday? I am an April baby too (will be celebrating this weekend)….and you are my inspiration for eating healthy 🙂 my exercise routine right now consists of lots of yoga and daily walking with a co-worker…I know I need to really amp it up because I am naturally very thin and I am also extremely lazy-LOL!
that would be “amp it up BUT”….not “because”
Was planning to wear vintage Givenchy 111, but couldn’t find it so Gucci Rush is having a day out instead, I love this one, and don’t should wear it more often.
I’ve been meaning to try out Rush. I saw it the other day on one of the discount sites and was tempted to blind buy (I’m tempted at least once a day to blind buy haha) but held back. The notes sound like something I’d enjoy!
don’t blind buy…I happen to love it but you might not…I think Rush is one you really need to try in person
2nd the “don’t blind buy.” I had a hard lemming for a bottle but tested it a store first. It wasn’t really “me,” and I’m glad I didn’t end up buying.
I blind bought it for about £8 on eBay, luckily I loved it!, but it’s so cheap it wouldn’t have been the end of the world if I hadn’t liked it. I have a £20 blind buy rule, and don’t do it often. I do think Rush is probably a love or hate it scent. My husband really loves it too.
I did not like it the first time I tried it so get a sample. I wore it yesterday and can still smell it faintly on my forearms. It has some serious longevity.
Sorry to hear about the tick bite reaction Robin. Sending happy thoughts for recovery your way!
I’m enjoying Hermes Rhubarb Escalarte. This stuff is fab on clothing! So sunny and invigorating.
Question for fellow Hermes lovers- anyone tried Amazone or Rose Amazone?
Oooh – I think I’ll decant my RE testers into some coconut oil. It would be a great post-shower fragrance. Thanks for sparking the idea!
(I’m also curious about the Amazones, but haven’t tried either.)
I like Amazone very much, but it seems such a dated composition, what with the aldehydes and the complicated florals. I mean, when I’m wearing it I am quite conscious that it’s not au courant. Funny, isn’t it, that No. 19 is older but seems less dated. I only have a mini of Amazone, which is probably all I’d ever need.
I have a quarter ounce of the vintage parfum and it is very seventies but very beautiful. I don’t know what the current iteration smells like.
Thank you God for Thursday! This week has not been fun (but for my friend’s recital at Juilliard for his final graduation project), and I’m SO looking forward to tomorrow being Friday. Plus! the sun is starting to peek through what’s been a rotten weather week.
SOTD: Orchidée Vanille
Good morning, my fragrant friends! I’m weaning myself off Sous le Vent today with some Galop, my other I AM WOMAN perfume. So I’ve gone from smelling like a loved-up mountain lion to smelling like Helen of Troy. Hoping Galop gives me a bit of a boost after getting a couple of ego bruises yesterday. 🙂
Are you layering? I own both of those and want to experiment
No, I’m just in Galop by itself. I’d be afraid of committing a crime of passion if I wore both at the same time! At least, I certainly wouldn’t be able to sit here at my work computer…
Ah, I re-read your post and read it wrong
Ooh love Galop (wore it yesterday) great choice!
Robin, I hope you feel better soon!
I was going to wear Givenchy Amarige Harvest Mimosa this morning to contrast with yesterday’s Une Fleur de Cassie, but instead my hand went straight for Salome. Yum.
In other news, my order from Essenza-Nobile did Finally Arrive, and it was correct. Plus, they sent me 11 samples (none of the ones I asked for, but I am giving them credit for generosity.) It appears to me that Germany changed its regulations for exporting perfume and E-N had to renegotiate with DHL. That would account for the diversion my package took to the Czech Republic in the interim. Has anyone noticed if their shipping rate increased? I know their minimum order to get free shipping went up tremendously.
Oh! Salomé! You smell splendid!
It must be a relief to finally have that package in your hands.
I’m totally up for a split of Salomé, btw. Anyone else?
I think it’s now about the same as First in Fragrance, 58€.
Robin, so sorry you are feeling sick, but a sleep in definitely a good idea. You need to put that on repeat for tomorrow, too!
I have gone through two value sized bags of lemon honey cough drops and the crud is still with me! Ugh- very over it and completely exhausted. SOTD is the soothing Hérmes Vetiver Tonka. Ahhhh! Lovely ????
Oh dear! have you thought about going to the doctor? Hope you feel better soon !!!!
Nah, not yet! Afebrile and no signs of anything bacterial brewing. I am just run down and haven’t been eating well or doing my usual exercise routine. Add to that being exposed to a whole new set of pathogens since I am moving around the country, and BINGO! I won the viral lottery! 😉
I hope you kick that crud and feel better soon!
Thanks! It’s on the way out the door, but taking its time, sadly.
Sounds like we both need a sleep in!
Hope you feel better soon, Robin!
I’m wearing Kenzo Flower — was craving something powdery
I wore that the other night after a long hiatus. Good stuff. I know Amour is supposed to have a rice note, but I got a distinct rice powder vibe when I wore Flower that I’d never noticed before.
BTW, I have you to thank for turning me on to that fragrance. I’d always overlooked it until I read your praise of it over at BdJ.
PS – did you end up liking any of those cleansing oils I sent? I have a few minis from another brand that I’ll never use that I could send your way…
I’m in Femme today. Probably not what one would consider office friendly, but I love it and I dabbed lightly lol.
It’s “take your kid to work” day here so I have my 10 year old goddaughter in my office with me. Her mother has class today so she couldn’t go with her. She’s been good thus far, though she’s asked 3 times how much longer until lunch. 😯
Sending well wishes, Robin.
That’s how I feel sitting at a desk all day, too 😉
You smell fantastic! I think Femme is totally doable for work when dabbed!
I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, Robin. Hope you feel better soon.
I’m on day 2 of Givenchy, and I’m wearing Ysatis. It was coming off really soapy earlier, but that stage has passed, fortunately.
Robin, hope you feel better soon!
Today doesn’t know what it wants to be so:
SOTD = Chanel No. 5 L’Eau
It is so versatile and is fast shooting up as one of my Top, errrrr, 20. Yesterday, there was a discussion of “beginner Shalimar” and I forgot what the answer was. Anyway, my point for bringing this up is, IMHO, while the name has No. 5, I would not consider this beginner No. 5. In fact, it seems like a flanker for Eau Premier with most of the No. 5 bits removed.
I love that one. You smell great. I also love Eau Premier, but have yet to fall for the grande dame of them. 😉
Thank you. I actually like the EDT better than the EDP.
Perfect description! Exactly. I’m doing that “Ding.Ding.Ding” thing.
:-). !
It is an easy go-to. You smell great! Do you prefer it over Eau Premier?
I have an earlier version of Eau Premiere so I could be biased. L’eau is more approachable.
Great description. I haven’t worn it in a while, but my recollection is that I didn’t get any No 5 reference/vibe until the deep, deep drydown.
I don’t think I’ve gone all the way to deep deep dry down on No. 5!
You smell grrrreat! L’Eau really is versatile: I wore it a few times this winter and thought it worked well in cool weather too.
Thank you! My darling bottle may accompany me to Vancouver and Alaska this summer!
Agree the troublesome bits of No. 5 were lopped off of L’eau, leaving behind a delightful top of fizzy lemon-lime soda, then (for me) it’s all clean musk musk musk.
The suggested “starter Shalimar” was Shaal Nur. 🙂
Oooh, thanks for reminding me about Shaal Nur!
Does the L’Eau musk bother you like the EdM Bleue did?
I also get loads of clean laundry musk in the base of L’Eau. It was doing well til then…
Hope you feel better soon, Robin! At least it sounds like the docs in your part of the world are alert to the symptoms of Lyme disease. There is almost no Lyme in Arkansas so far, but we have other tick-borne diseases that have made a couple of patients of mine mucho sick.
SOTM was Zoologist Hummingbird, which turned very musty and sour very quickly. Not for me, but will hold onto the sample to swap down the road. Going swimming soon. Not sure what will be SOT-rest-of-the-day, but thinking about a sample of the new Tory Burch Lavande that I got in Sephora last week.
I also didn’t like Hummingbird. The only other one ai’ve tested was Civet and it is nice. You have to like aldehydes to appreciate this.
Civet is swoon-able.
You probably have whatever Lone Star Ticks carry? I have learned more about ticks today than I’d ever care to know!
Oh, didn’t mean YOU, meant that’s probably what you have in your area!
I think so. Ehrlichiosis is the predominant tick-borne disease. Thankfully, most of the tick-borne infections can be treated with the same antibiotics (babesiosis is the exception, but IIRC, that is mostly in New England).
Robin, please do take care of yourself and follow through on the medical aspect of this…I have way too many horror stories around Lyme’s…it is not something to be trifled with but if you catch it early you are in good shape.
I don’t remember who was asking about Boucheron yesterday but fragrancenet has it for a song!
I am reeking havoc today in my attempt to finish up evaporated and nearly empty samples…I am bathed in Natori, no 22, Jour Ensoileille, Hanae Mori and Vanille Insensee all on different parts of my body…surprisingly it works 🙂 (at least no one has complained yet!!)
Keep calm and reek on!
peace love light xxoo
It was me, haha! I see it on the discount sites a lot and also on evil bay. But again, I hate to blind buy (although at discount prices, it doesn’t really hurt the wallet).
https://www.fragrancenet.com/perfume/boucheron/boucheron/edt#115469
at this price I would not discourage a blind buy 🙂
My husband had it bad, so I am taking the cautious route and overtreating to begin with 🙂
Robin: when I read of your plight, I seriously fought back the tears. You are such a valuable part of my life. Please keep us updated as to your condition and recovery. Don’t push yourself to post here. We can wait. Sending warm wishes for improved health. You are loved.
Oh, you are so sweet! Do not worry, I hate antibiotics but this is the sort of reason they exist and I will take my medicine 🙂
Wearing Love Shot today…
Supposed to be a modern chypre…but I get more of an an animalic fruitchouli.
It doesn’t wow me…and it wows me even less when I look at the full bottle prices. Sweet Morphine is nice but I don’t think I shall be compelled to get more of it when my decant is drained.
I wonder if Ex Nihilo will be around in 5 to 10 years…I wonder if many niche houses will be in general given the prices and market saturation actually…
last paragraph….my thoughts exactly!
yup.
Yes. I sometimes think of it as a sort of hunger games. They can’t possibly all survive. .
This. 🙂
Did I mention the poor longevity? 😉
I have doubts too – the scents are nice but $$$ and very poor longevity.
Hope you’re feeling better.
Take it easy Robin! Sending healing thoughts your way.
I’m in L’Artisan La Haie Fleurie today. I love this more each time I wear it.
That one’s a beauty, for sure!
Robin, take good care of yourself! I hope you feel better very soon.
I’m wearing Eau des Merveilles today. Not sure what I’ll pick tomorrow, since I think I don’t have anything from either Gucci or Givenchy!
Thank you! And no worries, wear whatever you like.
I tested new Masque Mandala today and I give it a thumbs up 🙂
Can we expect a review?
Possible, but it won’t be my priority. I have other scents I want to tell you about first 😉
Looking forward!
Sisley Izia. It’s feeling very sharp today.
Robin, I’m so sorry that you may have Lyme disease. I hope you will recover quickly. Please take good care of yourself.
My SOTD is Zoologist’s Hummingbird.
Have you tried other scents in the Zoologist line? I highly recommend Civet
Seconding Civet.
Sending ‘feel better’ wishes Robin!
I have no Gucci or Givenchy and am wearing the surprisingly spicy Feu Secret. Why surprising, given the name?!
Test driving Guerlain’s Myrrhe & Delires from a small decant given to me in a swap. It’s a very pretty myrrh and incense fragrance with the typical vanilla-tonka Guerlinade base. Not going to scratch the itch of those who prefer the heavy hitters like Avignon, LAVS, or La Myrrhe, but it’s easy to wear and office friendly. Surprisingly, it doesn’t have quite the longevity of most Guerlain exclusifs, at least not on my skin. Very pretty, but not on my must-have list from Guerlain, which is a relief, as it’s discontinued.
Hi Robin, I hope you’ll be feeling better soon.
I’ve not managed to keep up to date with NST while I’ve been on holiday. I’m now in Prague, which is amazing. I was here for a day way back in 1988, so having a week here is giving me a chance to see the place properly. I spent the day wafting Armani Privé Bois d’Encens, which seems fittingly churchy-incensy for the environment.
I love Prague — and yes, perfect scent for it!
Sending fragrant, healing thoughts your way, Robin!
Wearing Laan-Ael today – needed some happy, breakfast-in-faerie notes to keep me up and smiling.
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well Robin. Hopefully it will not bother you very much.
SOTD = back to the sample stash with a bit of vintage Poison Esprit de Parfum. Definitely a relative to Diorama. Also not as strong as I remember Poison being back in the day. However, I did not ever sniff the Parfum then, only the EdC and EdT. Maybe it was the other concentrations that were the perfume Godzillas??
I think you’re right, it was the EdT that was so stompy.
Thanks, mals! I did wonder a little bit if time had mellowed my sample. I haven’t sniffed the EdT in ages…
There never was a parfum when it was launched in 1985: they did eau de toilette, eau de parfum, and esprit de parfum, which was as strong a concentration as there was, and that was plenty strong. (They may have concocted a parfum later: I don’t know.) The eau de cologne came along a few years later, and it was wonderful — much lighter and fresher than the attack-dog edp but still obviously Poison.
Cold and rainy here in southern Oz so prescribing SL 5’OClock Gingembre for a gentle spicy kick to get me through the day.
You smell wonderful. I have not worn this in ages and now it’s too late in the Northeast U.S.
I hope you feel better soon, Robin. Do take care of yourself!
This morning I tested Rasasi Oud Al Mubakhar and Mukhallat Oud Al Mubakhar, and I ended up washing them both off. I then put on Alaïa and am still wafting it happily.
So sorry to hear of your health troubles, Robin. I hope the matter gets well under control.
Super busy today but smelling great in Givenchy Organza Indecence. I’m wearing from the bottle I found at Goodwill a couple weekends ago.
Hope you recover soon! I heard of Lyme the first time when one of the Olsen twins got it and is no joke.
Sending healing thoughts Robin. I hope you are feeling better very soon.
Wearing Eau de Givenchy (not vintage though). It’s a mere whisper of what I was back in the day; I think I went through 2 or 3 bottles then as it was a summer staple but it’s bringing back some fond memories now.
