Goop Edition 02 – Shiso ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 13 April 2017 15 Comments

Goop Edition 02 – Shiso

Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop lifestyle brand has launched Edition 02 – Shiso, the second of four projected seasonal fragrances. Edition 01 was introduced last year.

A perfume of cool air, pale sun, new life unfurling on the forest floor, this mystical perfume channels the energy of spring: sensual heat against cool, damp air. Shiso leaf (also known as perilla) is the unexpected star of this scent: It has a slightly spicy/fresh characteristic that’s green, earthy, and delicate all at once. Its complex simplicity is similar to Ikebana, the art of Japanese floral composition: The shiso note is closely hinged on the other notes, so the scent begins simply and then slowly opens up into spicy greens, crushed stems, and ancient exotic woods.

Additional notes include palo santo and oakmoss.

Goop Edition 02 – Shiso is $165 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum, and a matching candle is $72.

GOOP is a very efficient orange-scented grease remover, Gwyneth.
    FINI.

Nope, have a container in the basement.
Quite pleasant, and it really works!

Interesting — Goo Gone must be the same basic thing, also orange-scented. Anyway, they’re all petroleum-based products and Gwyneth would not touch them, presumably!

Yes, and while names and bottles generally don’t matter that much to me; I don’t want to have to tell people I am wearing Goop.

Clicked for the dragging, was not disappointed.

But for real though, shiso leaf is a cooling, spicy leaf; I have grown it and it has started to escape into the wild in Portland metro area. A green/woody/fresh sounds lovely, especially for spring. But this is not unique, and for the price, you can experience scents like this at local shops before committing so much money.

Not a fan of anything Goop, can’t get over the vajayjay mistreatment with jade eggs and steaming. But, shiso is one of my favorite flavors and fragrances, and I don’t see at as a listed note all that often. What to do what to do?

I will get my shiso leaf fix from one of my all time favorites, 1000 Flowers Reglisse Noire…and it is about one hundred dollars less per bottle :)

Ooh, thanks for the suggestion! Shiso is one of those plants where I always, always need to rub the leaves and inhale the smell when I see it. It’s so pretty!
