Happy Hump Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm doing a second day of big jasmine with Vilhelm Don't Tell Jasmine.
Reminder: on 4/7, wear a fragrance with jasmine, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is jasmine blossoms in bowl [cropped] by J E Theriot at flickr; some rights reserved.
A teeny spray of Songes for me today. After work I’ll spray again more liberally!
Sounds like a good plan!
More cloudy and colder Wednesday today. I opted for Cierge de Lune.
OOOh! I got a sample of that in my recent Arielle Shoshanna Scented Luxuries Atelier soap purchases (which found happy homes in Easter baskets)…that one is lovely…really lovely….do you like it?
I’m a big fan of Aedes and Cierge de Lune in particular. I got me a bottle last year.
Nice!
The color of the beautiful bottle really matches the fragrance, too.
Oh yes! And The bottle for new Pelargonium is red!
Indolic JASMINE! !!, vetiver, animalic musk, dense aldehydes. Large sillage.
Day 2 wearing Superstitious Dominique Ropion/Alber Elbaz/Frederic Malle.
Classic French perfumery, a butch jasmine parfum.
Will be curious how this plays out, reviews and sales wise.
The bunny rabbits are chasing each other in the backyard, little bunnies arriving soon!
😉
Triple strength coffee.
Life is beautiful.
Carpe Diem. Peace.
I am curious about this one! tell me more (if you want)
Ditto
I just bought a sample of this from STC and can’t wait to try it!
Will do.
I was out and about last night, and I could smell an amazing sillage.
I saw a few friends sniffing the air, but no compliments. I tend to pontificate on a thousand different tangents if someone asks about my scent.
LOL.
Sandalwood and myrrh can be discerned if I search for them in the far drydown.
Rose is listed on the box – I get ZERO rose on my skin.
There may be more than one variety of jasmine being used.
I like this a lot.
Cheers! !
OOOhhh, squeeee!! I can’t wait for this one. Must try some soon!
Thanks, Bear!
Oh boy–didn’t have high hopes due to new release cynicism. Looking forward now.
Perfect description! Here’s how it played out: the SA sprayed it on cards for me and another woman. I smelled it and then sprayed it on my skin for the full effect. The other woman recoiled in terror and just asked for her signature Musc Ravageur, lol.
I’m not sure I’d be comfortable wearing it. At least not to work.
It is very indolic and animalic, on my skin.
No sweetness at all.
It the most interesting scent I’ve experienced in quite some time.
Challenging.
Probably not a work scent.
Unless you’re the boss, and not looking for validation.
😀
Unsweet peach/apricot skin stood out for me. I suspect a dose of cumin in there as well. I agree about it being one of the more interesting and challenging new fragrances out there so yay for not selling out to mass market aporoval! I think it’ll be a love it or hate one.
Peach/apricot, cumin… This sounds like something I’ll hate – but I look forward to trying it anyway 🙂
The cumin reads/smells as animalic musk, on my skin and now I see a connection to Femme Rochas. The peach/apricot eludes me.
Very interesting, Elisa P !!!
I also thought of Femme, modern butch version. And Une Fleur de Cassie-more in that animalic French style than in smell.
Oooooooh, your SOTD sounds very intriguing. Might have to get a sample, since I have yet to find a jasmine that is “too indolic” for me. Then again, I was lucky enough to sniff grapefruit blossoms at Longwood Gardens last year. WOW. I did not care a bit about the odd looks I was getting.
Yes, do sample Superstitious, Jalapeno .
If you like indolic jasmine, you will like it, most likely.
🙂
Dedicated my rose perfume and my cup of coffee to Syria this morning. Reading about those poor children cracked me open
SOTD is Rose Barbare a small decant from a very generous She-ra. The babies love this
Are we still confessing to Donatella..splurged on the STC anniversary sale last night. I had a weak moment but my damage was only 30 bucks
We are in a new month so your “splurge” doesn’t count 🙂 (if that is any consolation).
Thank you!!
I feel like I haven’t “seen” you much on NST and glad you are back! ❤️????
Perfume blogs are challenging to read daily when you are on a no buy-LOL! But I am currently deriving great pleasure through reading about all of you enjoying your great stuff and I am living and sniffing vicariously through all of you….AND I have been making a massive dent in my collection which also makes me happy ……nothing like living in the moment and enjoying life for what it is and what we have right now. Reek havoc!
Was browsing Guerlain’s eyeshadow palettes online, and Rose Barbare is my fave…they all are named after scents.
I love them too!
Did I mention that I splurged on one of their LPN lipsticks?
Surf, surf, surf your samples,
Lest they become a tsunami,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a sample spree.
Reeking havoc Day 16 woot!
Does Bal a Versailles have jasmine? Yep! Is it a jasmine perfume? Nope! Sampling vintage edt, edc and parfum. Did I plan this? Of course not! Found ’em together in the same lovely organza bag we all are familiar with. Got a boatload of those, too! Added Dilettante cuz I cannot accept that this isn’t perfect for me…it just never achieves the orange blossom lift I insist it should have. Oh well, life on life’s terms. Happy Hump Day y’all!
LOVE your song and love your havoc 🙂
You smell divine.
This made me smile!
Thank you for the smile Holly! ????
Love your little song, too cute!
Your rhyme was awesome! And congrats for staying on those samples. Reeking havoc indeed!
This project has prompted me to dig out my rarely worn travel spray of Badgley Mischka Fleurs de nuit, a very pretty green jasmine.
I guess BM gave up on perfume? I thought the first one sold well but I guess it could not have sold as well as I thought.
I have a mini bottle of the original in parfum. Love TS’s review in the perfume bible but on me it’s not quite so fabulous (although very nice).
A la nuit, AKA as Death by Jasmin. Gorgeous.
I hated that thing the first time I tried it.
Second time, six years later? “Oh, hey, this is nice.” Go figure.
Has this ever been a Friday topic? Meaning, what fragrance did you dislike when you first tried it, but had a change of heart about it later?
I have a feeling it’s already been done…
Me, I loved it at first sniff. I don’t find it that indolic or suffocating to be honest.
Have you ever tried Bruno Acampora’s Jasmin?
Have you ever tried it since?
It didn’t work for me when I tried it
I was contemplating this one as a wedding perfume years ago..
Have you ever tried it since?
You smell fantastic!
A la Nuit is a contender for friday for me (the competition: Sarrasins and Jasmin Rouge).
Thank you, still dithering between Sarrasins and Songes for Friday, or maybe even something else.
Coromandel for a massive thunderstorm.
The perfect scent for a thunderstorm!
Twins! No Thunderstorms here but I also picked Coramandel. Lovely!
Ikat Jasmine from a discovery set.
Me too! I’m sampling it for the first time today. I’m usually not into this kind of super clean floral, but it could be worse!
“It could be worse” would be my take on the entire Aerin line 😉
Exactly.
On this beautiful sunny day, some Ineke’s Poet’s Jasmine. Lemony, but not too sweet. Ready to take my jasminny self out into the world.
Ooh, I bet you smell great
Yum. 😀
Super, super busy today. I am in Chanel No. 5 extrait and I am enjoying the gorgeous jasmine in it.
Beautiful!
wow wow
you smell great
LOVE! You smell great. I’m wearing Eau Premiere, a version which may now be considered vintage. We’re scent cousins!
You smell fab. I’m in L’Eau today, so I guess we’re fraternal twins?????
SOTD: Perfectly Marvelous from Diana Vreeland. It’s about passion and fire but rather, it reminds me of the burning incense in Buddhist temples. I like it 🙂
Oh, I love that smell. I’m going to have to try and get a sample of that.
No jasmine here – I’m in TF Violet Blonde. Spicy goodness.
You smell great!
Thanks! I believe I agree. 🙂
Testing LAP Tea for Two. It’s not bad, but the projection is really poor. I don’t think I’m gonna get a full bottle.
Yes I agree, there is not much projection which makes it perfect to wear when you know that you will be around fragrance grumps. 🙂
Today I’m in TDC Oriental Lounge. I’ve been meaning to wear this all winter, but somehow other bottles were jumping into my hand.
You smell wonderful.
I am already on a Jasmine kick…SOTD is Rodin Bis.
Giving Mon Guerlain a whirl today. The lavender note is nice, though on the whole a bit sweet for my taste. Definitely mainstream (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
I am in the minority here..but I do like it.
The more I dab from my sample the more it grows on me.
Ditto, I like it too. . Mid afternoon – perfect scent for re-focusing.
I Tried it beside poison girl. There are similarities between the two but PG has big blousy milky musk powering through it, and shouts, make way! coming on through!
MG is stronger in the lavender, but shares the sweetness with PG. Doesn’t overpower but settles nicely.
It takes PG one hour of dry down to get to where MG starts.
I am the proud owner of two ‘ minority scents ‘ . Always loved the underdog.
A few dabs of Bois des Iles parfum today…this stuff is just so good. You all smell wonderful!
Oh, and the Bois des Iles is thanks to Lizbee. 🙂
Ooh, I bet the parfum is divine!
You smell wonderful!
JOTD Voluspa Amaranth and Jasmine Room and Body Mist. It’s a fresh, bright, slightly green and citrusy jasmine and pretty good for a cheapie ($19 for 100ml). This could easily be from Annick Goutal IMO. I have to say that some of their scents are more interesting and well done than some of the pricey niche stuff I’ve smelled recently and they have a nice range. Just sayin.
thanks for that “cheap thrills” tip 🙂
They have beautiful candles for as low as $8…I want the Macaron one!
I have several of their candles and the drug store I get them at usually has them on sale! I have my SOTD in a candle and the Colonia Gardenia. The Macaron is pretty yummy. They have a Peach Bellini scent that I’d also wear.
I gave away Voluspa candles as Christmas gifts.
Chanel No 5 L’Eau after shower and a morning workout.
I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!
How do you like it? How’s the longevity for you? I felt like it faded quickly on me.
No 5 L’Eau lasts longer on me than No 5 EDP does.
I find that it is no powerhouse by any means. If someone else around me is wearing something strong, their scent takes over.
Sometimes, I can still smell it in my hair the next morning. I love when that happens with a perfume I love.
3 sprays = 5 hours
Tomorrow, 5 sprays! Stay tuned!
You smell wonderful!
Lovely!
Thanks! And, I’m keeping with the jasmine theme 🙂
Hey, twin! You smell great!
🙂
Today is National Walking Day…I will be taking a hike later. Dame Perfumery Bergamot, Jasmine and Labdanum. It is pretty and perfect for office wear.
What a great idea for a ‘day’.
Hey, the karetu grass in sweet almond oil is really cranking up. The smell is far less marzipan than the stalks of drying grass. Far more mown grass or hay. Which makes me wonder what would happen if I just put ordinary grass from a paddock in oil? It might just make a beautiful hay body oil.
The colour has gone from pale oil to golden.
Thanks for your help with this.
Will wear my Dame black flower mexican vanilla in your honour today!
Oh I am so excited that your experiment was a success!!!! Keep experimenting and let us know how it goes.
and you smell sweet 🙂
Excellent–both the perfume and the hike.
You inspired me to wear this one today so thanks for that!
I should try that one. I’m a huge bergamot fan and didn’t even realize it until studying my FB’s and seeing that almost all of them have that in the notes list.
Hurray for walking day! I did a hike this morning. 🙂
Wearing Alter, by Sammarco (from a sample)
Its a funky, syrupy jasmine, with mimosa. A bit honey like.
I have almost emptied my sample. It does not last very long and its slightly too sweet for my taste. But its worth a try!
Sammarco is an interesting brand – dont know why it gets so many dislikes on fragrantica
(I like their Vitrum better by the way, thats a gorgeous smoky vetiver and I might need a bottle of it one day).
I only own one jasmine so I’m saving it.
Super tired so I’m wearing Dzongkha. My body just would not settle last night! I think it’s my creaky joints.
Dzongkha is very soothing.
I hope you have an excellent sleep tonight.
Oh, those creaky joints! Who KNEW when we were twenty something how achy-breaky we would become! I have to take Meloxicam on a semi-regular basis just to be able to have moderate range of motion. Ugh!
Good morning Y’all!!
Wearing Fresh Life by Fresh. Good stuff!
My jasmine of the day is Carla Fracci Giselle over Philosophy Fresh Cream Body Souffle. I can’t pick out individual notes yet, if ever I will be able, but apparently there is jasmine.
Love reading the comments here and taking notes for a new Jasmine ????. It’s a Grey rainy day here and I’m still fighting the crud. Thanks for all the well wishes earlier- I’m feeling better now…just coughing, and I can’t smell a thing-So scentless here today.
You all smell great though!
Happy day NSTrs!????????????
Glad to hear you’re feeling better!
Hope you are all the way better soon!
Thumbs up for feeling better!
Hey all, thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday! I’m in La Haie Fleurie today, and needing all of jasmine’s sweet embrace to face the work fu this morning. Feels like a day to keep my head down and not share any opinions ’round here.
Awww. Hope your day gets better! You do smell wonderful, though! And Happy Belated Birthday!
Wonderful choice!
I am wearing Cruel Gardenia today which is neither cruel nor particularly gardenia but there you go. 😉
LOL
Oh, agreed. Not cruel, not gardenia, but nice for all that.
True, so true. I wore it last week–forgot how potent it is. Made a mental note to go easy next time!
Grabbed a rare opportunity for some Cuir de Lancôme. It was far too hot this winter to indulge in it much so I’m really enjoying it on this cool and very windy day.
Just out of curiosity, has an tone else had trouble checking out at STC? I had an order fail to go through once last year and it seems to have happened again yesterday, which means I probably missed out on the sale 🙁
You should contact them. They are usually very accomodating. I’m pretty sure they would honor the discount for a computer glitch.
Oh, I did send them an email inquiry and I won’t be angry if they can’t fix it. Just wanted to know if anyone else had ever had trouble.
I did. I had it fail several times and eventually used my work computer to do it durung my break the next day. I was *this close* to emailing them for help before I thought of doing it at work. Sorry to hear you had less luck than I did though 🙁
You smell wonderful!
I agree…contact them as they are very accommodating.
I suppose I’m on a Kilian kick, but I wanted to follow the week’s Friday Challenge but also be work-friendly, so I’m in Imperial Tea.
OH AND I FORGOT! I got a sample of the new Joyeuse Tubereuse. It’s a greener Terracotta. Not up to the standard of the art of materials line or the other most recent release of Neroli Outrenoir, IMO. Also, definitely not worth it for the price. And the thing is, the green note fades within a few minutes, and then it’s basically just Terracotta or another beachy Tuberose. Not a must-have in my book..
I am boycotting that whole line because they changed the packaging and from what I understand , you can’t remove the bulb atomizer.
neroli outnoire is fab though!
Thanks for letting us know about your terracotta sample ????
YEAH–so…the new one is a normal spray atomizer. no bulb! hooray! but not removable. (which, I’ll be honest, I like being able to remove the atomizer on the Guerlain bottles to make decants!) I asked my Guerlain perfume guy and he said the plan is to switch all bottles in the line to the permanent /non twist-off atomizer like the new Tuberose, but not anytime in the near future…which is so STUPID–because they already changed the bottle for the tuberose…and everyone has problems with the new bulbs and they break and they’re awful! but anyway, yeah, until they change the bottle for NO, I refuse to purchase it.
I refuse to purchase any bottle with an unremoveable bulb atomizer. To get my Guerlain fix, I just placed an order for a bunch of the La Goutte Parfumee 20 mL travel atomizers.
Thanks for the report, more money saved!
Ditto.
Good field work. I already have Terracotta and am stewing about bulb atomizers in general. I’m looking at you, Diptyque… 😉
What I suspected. Thank you.
I got a set of tiny sprayers of La Chasse aux Papillons, Seville a l’Aube, Mure et Musc and Night Tuberose. I tried the last two on just before going to bed last night. I awoke twice in the night with our more unsociable cat standing on me huffing my neck. I guess he’s a fan.
That’s hilarious! He has very good taste.
Cute! I share his taste, those are good scents!
Fancy cat! My kitty is a huge fan of Jicky and Lonesome Rider.
That would scare the bejesus out of me.
Took me aback for a moment, I must confess.
I’ve accumulated a pack of Hermes samples, so I’ve decided to work through them for a few days.
Wearing Concentre d’Orange Verte. Started out really cuminy, like my favorite Tex mex restaurant, just freshened up a bit. Not bad, just strange, and it went to the citrus pretty quickly.
A like, not a love, but I’ll enjoy it and feel good about draining a sample!
I’m wearing TDC Jasmin de Nuit this morning and pondering Friday’s pick. Do I go with my most jasminey jasmine? (Montale Jasmin Full, massive projection and sillage with the tiniest spritz) or my most-loved jasmine, Sarrasins? Or something else? Songes? Rodin? A La Nuit? Tunisian Jasmine? Possibly I have too many jasmines.
I have too many choices as well, but I’m seriously considering the Bruno Acampora.
Yum.
Ha! My vote is Sarrasins (one I need to re-try, couldn’t make my mind up about it a couple of yrs ago).
No, I think you have room for another bottle (or two) of jasmine perfume. Life is short, smell the jasmine!
The discontinued Pacifica Tunisian Jasmine with the almond note? I vote for that one!
Wearing L’Air du Desert Morocain today. (Spelling???) I am not enjoying it as much as I used to. I think I will take it out of my regular rotation for a while.
I yielded to the enticements of Amazon Prime and got a small bottle of La Chasse aux Papillions for $52.00, and it came and is wonderful, fleeting, but wonderful. Now I am on a Linden kick. What other Linden perfumes do people love here?
I find La Chasse fleeting but wonderful too. I’ve wondered about the “extreme” version, have you tried?
DSH has French Lime Blossom. April Aromatics has Unter de Linden (sp?) and I really like JM Lime Blossom (not sure about the exact name).
I will second the Jo Malone French Lime Blossom. I also really like Pacifica’s Bali Lime Papaya (the Lime is really lime blossom, a/k/a linden and the papaya gives it a musky vibe) which sadly is discontinued.
Wearing YSL Black Opium from a sample that I wore once and forgot about. I like it more than I remember AND it has a jasmine note! It’s also working well with my new Body Shop Shea lotion, which has a stronger scent than I anticipated.
Supposedly getting on board the Jasmine train with SOTD “Artemisia” from Penhaligon’s.
Top: nectarine and green notes;
Mid: green apple, lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, tea, violet and vanilla;
Base: oakmoss, sandalwood, musk and amber.
Bleurg. This one would disgrace a toilet cleanser. I will re-spray this evening just in case I was having a weird temporary reaction in the morning. (But, you know, Penhaligons ‘have form’ and I am very rarely positively impressed by their meagre efforts).
I had to laugh at your incredibly vivid perfume description. Sorry that you seem to be stuck with what sounds like an epic-level scrubber.
Well, I re-tried it and on second thoughts it is more like one of those mouthwashes you get at the dentist after a scale and polish. Still not good, but a different type of not good. :^)
Jubilation 25 body cream and edp today. One more day then I hit the road back to Montreal!
Have a great trip! I’ll take out my decant of Jubilation 25– thanks for the reminder!
Have a fun and safe trip! I bet you smell amazing in two forms of Jubilation 25.
Are you driving? IIRC, you’re in cali? That’s one heck of a road trip if you are driving! Stay safe ✌️
Yes, we are driving – with 2 dogs. Crossing my fingers we all arrive intact and sane.
Have a great trip to your other home. Sadly, I did not send out any swap or split packages last week…that is this weekend’s project.
Getting on the jasmine bandwagon finally. I’m wearing Caligna from l’AP. It’s pretty but verrry sweet and non-indolic so not really my thing.. my 15 year old self would have loved it.
I am kicking myself because I just ordered a crapload from STC and didnt order a sample of Superstitious! What’s wrong with me?! Bear’s descripton made me almost drool!
Happy Wednesday, everybody! May lovely scents waft you way.
I love Caligna. I wore it when I went to Greece a few years ago and it brings back wonderful memories. I bought a sample just because Inwas curious what “jasmine marmalade” would smell like. I don’t find it very sweet, however.
I went to a Barney’s event when they first launched Caligna and they had a sales rep with samples of the individual ingredients. The jasmine marmalade smelled intoxicatingly good – if they had made a perfume of just that I would have bought it immediately.
Oh, smelling the ingredients woukd have been so fun!
Day 2 of Olivine Atelier perfume oil: More Than the Stars. The almond note in the opening reminds me a little of Lea. This one is sweeter though and wears close to the skin.
Greetings NSTers! I’m wafting just a bit of Tauer’s Amber Flush Body Oil, which is not on my body, but rather in my hair, which works quite nicely thank you very much! Beautiful photo! Yellow is such an uplifting color. It seems to have the same effect on me as puppies and kittens- unbounded happiness????
Stocking up food wise for an upcoming sojourn to the woods with T-Rex. Also doing research regarding effective bear deterrents. Perfume, sadly, is not on the list. In an interesting twist, perfume of any kind, even in shampoo or deodorant, seems to attract bears, according to on-line experts. Not what I’m going for. T-Rex would make a tasty snack for them, so no perfume for her OR me. We are disappearing into Uwharrie NF for 4 days and although I very much love the fact that I am sharing bear habitat, I have no desire to meet one up close and personal. Also, I was successful in booking a 4 night stay and the ferry ride to Ocracoke island in May, no fear of bears there, but alas, it seems mosquitoes also love perfume.
Maybe a good thing I left the bulk of my collection at home.
Happy hump day, you all smell fab. I was just reading the Donatella Confessions, and you people are doing a bang up job promoting great smelling stuff. I had to squash a lemming or two ????
Do you have bear (or pepper) spray? I also have one of those little portable marine airhorns, which I use to shoo away deer–not sure it would startle a bear, but maybe!
T-Rex will be sporting a bell on her collar. Usually, most animals will avoid humans if possible, so the whole forest will know we’re coming, and hopefully will dishe
Oops! That’s supposed to be “dodge is!”
“us!” Jeeez!
Definitely keep away from gourmands!
Good point!
Yes perfume does attract Bears !!
LOL. 😉
I checked out your Instagram, sweet dog.
And I liked trying to identify the scents on your perfume bureau.
Cheers Deva ! Be safe ! And careful!
Thanks! Will do ????
Wow, have fun! And enjoy the wilderness. Please report back after your trip – I’m camping vicariously through you.
Thank you!
Love Okracoke, definitely one of my favorite places – my family has been vacationing there for many years. Good chance you won’t have much of a mosquito problem in May.
What a neat family tradition! I can imagine some great photos and memories attached to those visits! Also happy about your mosquito prediction ????
Skip the perfume and stay safe.
I’ll do my best. Apparently the bear population in Uwharrie is sparse and generally transient, so I think we’ll be ok, thanks!
Bon voyage to you, sounds like a great trip!
The mosquitos will kill you at Ocracoke, but it is so worth the bug spray. Beautiful beautiful.
SOTD is Dior Gris Montaigne from the swapmeet. This is a pretty one.
I love that one, you smell wonderful.
Wearing Bottega Veneta and drinking some Numi Pu-erh tea.
Love it. Such a mindful scent
Fanastic day yesterday. I have a friend who does science stories for national radio and she was in town doing research at the geology department. She has been following my scent mapping journey and when we met for lunch she handed me a piece of New Zealand amber , probably from a variety of monkey puzzle tree that grew here when the climate was much much warmer.
She Said, ‘flake off a bit and scratch the surface with your finger nail, and sniff’
I did what she said and there was a very rich, dense incense note but like a new forest, too.
She watched me and then said,’ you realise that what you’re smelling is 20 million years old?’
Twenty MILLION years old!!! Wow!
That’s amazing.
That is so incredible!
I hope you swiped some on your neck, I would have (with permission, of course) .
😀
I broke off another piece and brought it home. The scientists make very thin slices to study the trapped insects etc.this amber was quite cloudy, like toffee, compared to Baltic amber
Wow, that would have blown my mind. What an amazing experience!
!!!
Thanks for sharing that, it is almost as good as experiencing it!
Wow is right!
So very cool you shared that!
Wow! How great to experience that.
Fabulous! I bet it smelled wonderful.
Yeah, it really did. I still can’ quite get my head around it.
I got chills reading this. It’s not the whalemsperm variety, was it?
Probably from a conifer. An ancestor of the NZ kauri , a distant relative of monkey puzzle trees. The amber is fossilized and found in seams of coal.
Wow! You did have a fantastic day yesterday!
I really tried to avoid the STC sale yesterday but failed. Had to get the men’s version of Amouage Gold and Epic to test. Right now I am wearing L’Heure decide Nuit today. No I haven’t opened the full bottle yet, just working on the decant.
I managed to steer clear of the sale. It could have been due to a late evening call with Asia that stretched from half an hour to an hour.
My SOTD this windy Hump Day is N°5 L’Eau. There’s some jasmine in there, so I’m on-theme. And I smell all sunny and happy. Woot.
I forgot I was going to mention that I had a funny dream last night where (a dream-world version of) Frederic Malle gave me a radical new haircut…for free. ????????
Wow, I wonder what Freud would make of that?!????
Nothing good. ????
You smell wonderful!
Thanks!
TWIIIIINNN!!! Maybe for the first time ever? I shouldn’t be this excited but I AM!!!!
SQUEEEE! Yes, it’s the first time! I’m excited too! YAAAY!
Sotd = Library of Flowers Moon Shadow. Notes are water lily, lotus flower, jasmine. Easy to enjoy.
I like that name! But never smelled the scent.
I was having a hard time dragging myself out of bed today, so I’m in what is probably about twice as much Givenchy Amarige as is reasonable to wear to the office, but hey, it makes me happy.
I’m sure you smell fabulous!
You have reminded me to unbury my bottle from the back of my cabinet. You smell gorgeous.
We were sent home early due to severe weather, so I am unexpectedly enjoying a relaxed afternoon drinking tea and reading. I started the day in Jeux de Peux (love the caramel/ bread/ yeast in it, which surprises me because I’m not usually into sweet scents), and have just spritzed Jicky. I was hoping to attract my cat, but she’s under the bed because she’s scared if thunder.
How lovely! Drinking tea and reading is what I’m doing right now too.
Sounds wonderful on all accounts (except the severe weather).
A little bit of AG Vetyver, straight from the fridge, for a little pre-gym pick-me-up. Later on, I might add something warmer as the rain has returned for days it will seem…
Hello, everyone. I’m tired from a really bad night, running late and feeling harassed about it, wearing Black Cashmere to soothe and centre myself. Dakkie is grieving terribly, and cried –yelled and yodelled, really, as only a Siamese can– all night. I’m scared the neighbours will complain, but I don’t know what to do for him. I wish I could give him an absorbing book to read and a big busy project to occupy his mind. Black Cashmere is working its gentle magic on me: I wish I could find a solution in a bottle for him!
Be well, all. Your perfumes are making me dizzy with desire today: so many that sound gorgeous and beguiling, that I’ve never smelt so far, and may never.
I just googled “how to quiet a grieving cat” (I have too much time on my hands), and didn’t find much that I think would be of too much help to you, but you could try it and see. Most of the literature centred around “could he possibly be grieving his dead friend that he spent 24 hours a day with for the last x many years?” Duh. According to several places, though you are onto something when you talk about something to occupy his mind. Most caution against getting another pet too soon. I hope you both get some sleep tonight.
Hoping he finds relief from his grief and hope you find some rest. Hugs.
Poor Dakkie-cat. I hope the both of you can get a break, soon.
Oh, poor Dakkie and poor you! It’s so hard when you can’t tell them what’s going on. 🙁 We had two cats that we had raised from the age of 8 weeks – they were from two different litters, but grew to be inseparable. When Moose died, Squirrel stopped eating. I took her to the vet, who diagnosed grief. We gave her a lot of attention and she did start eating again. We pondered the “get another cat” question, but ultimately decided not. She was too old to cope with a kitten, and too timid to make friends with another cat. It’s hard to know what the right answer is, but I hope you find it, waterdragon.
When my dog died, the cat wandered around the house sadly looking for him for about two weeks. A homeopathic remedy named ignatia amara is good for grief, perhaps you could try that. Wishing you all peace and ease.
It might be worth asking your vet, if you haven’t already. I’ve heard in passing about pheromones used to treat anxiety, I think.
Oh poor kitty and so sad for you. Cats really do grieve and I find its taken different amounts of time for each I’ve had whose been through it. Patience and pets, if allowed?
Pets of Dakkie! By you! Not a new pet!
SOTD = ELdo’s Jasmin Et Cigarette, from a sample. I ought to get the small bottle from Sephora before they decide to quit carrying this. I noticed that the US site doesn’t have Fat Electrician anymore. 🙁
Oh no! I really like Fat Electrician and it is maybe 8th or 9th on my wish list. Availability at Sephora would have made it so easy…
Finally made time to post this week! I’m in the lovely Diptyque Essences Incensees Jasmin. Yesterday was spent in Songes and Monday in La Haie Fleurie. I love jasmine week!
That is such a beauty!
Very late today but got to try Eau Des Merveilles Bleue in my way home. It strikes me as very similar to the original, minus the orange, but though I’ve had it on for only about an hour it is very faint at this point. I’m trying to be logical as my first reaction is that I love the original and have a ton of it, and I really don’t need more of something so similar (or anything at all for that matter)…oh, that blue bottle is so very pretty.
I actually don’t even care what it looks like – I want it for the bottle and juice color!
Agree! It is taking all my will-power to not buy EdM Bleue unsniffed. That little 30 ml bottle may be my undoing.
It’s great to hear EdM Bleue bears some resemblance to EdM. The other Merveilles scents are so different from one another.
Late,to the party!
SOTD = Chanel No. 5 L’Eau
There’s jasmine in this so yay, I am participating the project!
Eau la la! Softly aldehylic floral. Reminds me of a perfume made with 4 parts Eau Premiere and 1 part No. 5 EDT, then proportionately lightened to make it perfect for spring and summer. 3 sprays lasted 5 hours. I think I will lavishly spray tomorrow (5 sprays) to see how long it lasts. I have a 50 mL that is eau so cute! I bought it at Macy’s and could tell that the SA was judging me for not buying the more economical 100 mL but eh, I don’t care as I used my Macy’s money and the remnants of a gift card. I just went to the Chanel website and saw there’s a limited edition 1.2 oz which I bet is even more darling than my bottle.
Thank you for seconding my opinion that it smells a lot like
Eau Premiere, hajusuuri.
I have not heard anyone other than us, voice this.
I like it, and may cave if the summer is HOT and HUMID, but I’ll
cross that bridge when I come to it. 😀
Oh cave, cave, or maybe wait until Sephora has 20% off and get it then. Seriously, were it not for the fact that I pulled the bottle out of the L’eau box, I would have mistakenly identified it as Eau Premiere.
You smell fantastic! L’Eau lasts pretty well on me too, especially considering it’s essentially a fancy cologne. It works really well on clothes or in hair, too. I can confirm the 1.2oz bottle is every bit as darling as you think! Mine was a gift but was from Sephora, acquired during the VIB 20%. I think they still have that size.
I find L’ Eau and Eau Premiere very similar too. I did a spray of each on different arms one day for comparison. To me they start out almost identical, but where I found the difference was in the drydown. I prefer L’ Eau, I think that soft white musk is lovely.
Also, the 35 ml bottle is darling. ???? I did get mine at Sephora.
