It's Hump Day! Plus, a very happy birthday to Eric Idle. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in vintage Dana Emir, courtesy of Kevin. If you ever see a stray bottle of Emir for sale, do snap it right up.
Reminder: on 3/31, your pick of Swap Love or Blind Love...wear a fragrance you acquired via a swap, or wear a fragrance you bought unsniffed. Double bonus points for wearing one of each, triple bonus points for a Blind Swap Love. If you don't swap or buy unsniffed, just wear a fragrance you love. (adapted from a suggestion by Pixel)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Don't be silly chumps! (warning: mild profanity, whistling and general silliness)

I wish Eric Idle a very happy birthday. I’ve recently been rewatching bits of a documentary on the Pythons (Monty Python almost the truth). Great fun and very insightful. The clip is hilarious!
My SOTD is Sweet Redemption, a gorgeous and moody orange blossom. Nothing Pythonesque about it.
Oh, I will add that to my watch list!
There are only bits of it on Youtube. I remember watching it for the first time either on the BBC or Dutch television a long time ago. It’s wonderful. Another great interview is the one called Live in Aspen, where Eddy Izzard has a small role, and even Graham is present, despite having long before joined the choir invisible.
Oh, no, did not realize “watch list” meant YouTube. Just meant generically that I would put it on my list of things to watch
Even better! I’ve been thinking of getting the DVD.
“I want to cook you a soup that warms your soul.” ~ King of Sorrow
Listening to Sade this morning…
Today is my Natal Anniversary, Birthday or Reincarnation Day-anyways..today is Lovestosmellgood Day.
SipOTD french press coffee
SOTD is 31RC ET from a small decant that has a few sprays left.
This was the bottle that broke on my kitchen floor that I posted about last week, from the swap. I traded 2 bottles for this and was completely bummed when I didn’t realize that the box opened from the bottom. And then crack on the floor..glass and perfume everywhere. I am thinking of just trying the new version. Any thoughts
Cheers to “always looking on the bright side of life”
Happy Birthday!????
Hope that “Lovestosmellgood Day” is everything you could wish for, and the coming year brings many blessings!
Happy birthday!!!
Love that Sade song (and more of their work)!
I never smelled 31RC, its an exclusif right?
The Dutch Chanel site was selling the edts and edps side by side last time I checked…
not here…in the USA
Happy Lovestosmellgood Day
Happy birthday!
Happy Natal Anniversary to you!???? Hope you get some Lovestosmellgood time today.
I am! Thanks to my better half who arranged his day so I can have a break from the babies. Planning on going to the Tenement museum for a tour..have you ever been?
Nice! I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t been yet. It’s on my list!
Politely butting in to say that the Tenement Museum is amazing.
The Tenement Museum is very fascinating. It was one of my favorite things we did on our trip to NYC a few years ago.
Have a great birthday!!
Happy birthday! Sorry about your 31RC. I only have a couple of decants and would love to have gotten a bottle, so I feel your pain.
Happy birthday! And scent twins.
Happy Birthday! Oh gosh, I’m so sorry that it was 31RC EdT. Ebay has some 12ml offerings, as well as a couple of bottles. Not the same as a swap, but it IS your birthday! I haven’t tried the edp, so can’t be of any help there.
Hope your birthday is fragrant and full of joy
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!! Hope your day is epicly AWESOME! I do believe a replacement bottle is in order for you…..Treat yourself!
I hear you loud and clear enablers..you and Holly..pins! ha! We shall see…
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day and year.
Happy birthday! Sorry about your bottle – may that be the worst that happens to you this year.
Happy Birthday. Enjoy!
Happy happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!, hope you’re day is full of lovely things & smells!
Happy Birthday! You smell wonderful.
I’ve heard the two versions of 31 rue de Cambon are significantly different. It doesn’t hurt to try the new version (after all, you might even prefer it), but it would be best to do that quickly in case you don’t like the EdP and would decide to hunt for the original.
Happy birthday! Hope you enjoy your special day.
Happy birthday! So sorry about your 31 Rue Cambon, I really think the edt is better, I would seek that out asap, after trying the edp of course.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday, Eric Idle.
SOTD is Chanel 31 Rue Cambon.
You smell wonderful!
You smell great!
You better stop dreaming of the quiet life,

LOL.
“sleep is overrated”….I am a “mini bear” who loves to hibernate in her bear bed cave so I beg to differ-LOL!
you smell great, bear.
A while back I made my son watch a video of The Jam. He was unimpressed, sigh…..As always, Bear, You Rock!
LOOVE that song! One of the best workout songs ever.

Yes- I will stop apologizing for things I’ve never done.
LOL.
Cheers!
Wearing Lancome Cuir today to match my leopard print wrap dress and ” notice me” shoes.
Taking no prisoners today.
You go girl!
woohoo! you smell wonderful
Twins!
Yes!
That sounds like such a fab combination!
Excellent!
Most awesome!
Started out this morning in Un jardin sur le Nil (i think Tracy.o mentioned it yesterday, so I dug up the sample a friend once gave me).
And i just dabbed on a tiny drop of Vetiver Blanc (by Sultan Pasha Attars).
Tuberose – Vetiver – ambergris.
ITS GORGEOUS!!! It fits my taste perfectly, like it was tailor made. One of my favourite discoveries of last few months.
Wish you all a good wednesday and of course happy birthday to mr Idle! When I was young we had video tape recordings (yeah remember those days? Haha) of life of brian and MP and the holy grail, in the pre-netflix age, we watched them over and over again.
I hope you liked it- I’d hate to think my influence was a bad one! =p
Yes I like it a lot!
My sample is almost empty…and its on my ‘if I can find it for a nice price’-FB-want list.
Oh, how I am loving these longer days. When we ate dinner at 6:30 last night the sun was still out.????
JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt layered with Lime Basil & Mandarin.
It’s the best, having the sun out during dinner! Now if it would only warm up.
thanks for suggesting that combo a while back…I tried it and love it…smelling good, madtowngirl.
Thank you! So glad you tried it and liked it too!!
You smell great!
SOTD is “Bois Sacré” from Arte Profumi.
Official notes are just oud, sandalwood and labdanum.
Kiss test: I may have found a prince!. My goodness, this is nice stuff. Any of you home baking types ever use Malep in your bread? It’s the crushed stone of a sort of sour cherry, with a taste somewhere between almond, cherry and honey. This one reminds me of that. Performance-wise it clears the half-day hurdle, just.
Yum! I love mahlab. Might have to hunt a tiny sample of this one even though sandalwood usually gives me a headache.
It didn’t really smell of sandalwood to me, but YMMV.
This sounds delightful!
It is – and so onto the shorlist it goes. Maybe some day I’ll get it, maybe not. ;^)
To dentist today for cleaning/checkup. The sinus infection seems to be clearing, albeit slowly.
Wearing a coral tee, bright pink shirt jacket, khakis and ballet flats in a coral/pink/lavender tulip print, as well as Cuir de Lancome. Bonus: in the pocket of the khakis (which, puzzlingly, looked crisply pressed on the hanger), I found my missing sample of CdG Stephen Jones. Huh.
Well, if you have to go to the dentist, at least you smell lovely!
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling a little better.
I’m glad to be feeling better too. And the hygienist was pleased with me.
Twins
I just saw that! You smell great.
So funny, I had a dream last night that the samples I sometimes stuff in pockets exploded in the dryer while my husband was doing the laundry (which he dutifully did last night) and ended up ruining everything. Ha! A dream but perhaps a warning too.
Oh dear. Yeah, I should never leave anything in a pocket, but…you know. I do.
I accidentally left a sample in a pocket once and pulled the empty vial out of the dryer. Thank goodness it evaporated instead of exploding!
So glad you’re feeling better, and you’re outfit and perfume combo sounds lovely. I’m wearing Safari today.
You smell lovely. I hope that sinus infection clears up soon for you.
Vintage Hermes Bel Ami. It is RIDICULOUS how good this is, lush and multifaceted. The current version is still pretty good, much better than most other men’s scents on the market, but it smells kind of thin and wan next to this.
Now I want to try this. You probably smell wonderful!
p.s. re: fully developed lushness vs. thin and wan: I had that moment last weekend when trying JM Blue Hyacinth after Tom Ford Vert de Fleur. Based on an earlier test, I was ready to buy Blue Hyacinth, but it felt so thin and limp compared to Vert de Fleur that I ended up not buying anything.
I’m dying to try both, so it’s great to read your thoughts.
Vintage Bel Ami – *insert genuflection emoji*
I’m on airplane for most of today, so I’ve opted for something fresh and light instead of the leather/big white floral/leather scents I’ve been gravitating towards lately.
I’m in Maison Martin Margiela Untitled L’eau, (more swapmeet spoils! I made out like a bandit, y’all) which is fitting the bill perfectly- inoffensive enough for anyone sitting next to me but with enough of a green bite to keep me from falling over from extreme indifference.
S(ip)otD is a Starbucks mocha protein shake, because of the aforementioned spending the morning on an airplane.
Safe travels! I didn’t know Starbucks mocha protein shakes were a thing.
They’re my absolute favorite too-busy-for-breakfast shakes. I can’t do soy, and these are 100% whey protein. Also, they actually taste good, have 20 grams of protein, and the caffeine of a regular latte.
Have a safe flight
“Falling over from extreme indifference” is my new favourite phrase.
Ha! Agreed.
Yes!
Have a safe trip. You smell great!
SOTD Guerlain Chamade from a swap. This is so green and lush, then the amber and spice add a honeyed warmth. I love this.
Chamade is a good spring time scent
I love it too.
Oh, Chamade. Yes.
You smell lovely!!
Gorgeous stuff!
Jardins d’Armide was my SOTD yesterday and I’m repeating it today
You smell nice!
Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche. Downhill slide to Thursday and long weekend.
Ah, you smell great!
Ah thanks. ???? It’s my favorite of the Allures.
I just bought this!
Speaking of DS& Durga, I’m wearing Spirit Lamp perfume oil-peach water, petitgrain, hot metal, bohea tea. Sounds more interesting than it is, which is a peachy bitter citrus, with a hint if what smells like hot metal. I do love it but would be better if it weren’t buried under clothes.
And Happy Birthday Eric Idle. MP antics never fail to make me laugh.
Happy birthday to Eric Idle. I’m a huge Python fan and am so grateful to have grown up with their humor in my life.
Wearing something beautiful from Sultan Pasha, but I can’t locate my list of scents (the samples are numbered) so have no idea which one it is. It’s one of the floral ones and is so good on this cool-ish morning after a storm. I’m off to play in the garden before work so my new plants can enjoy the damp soil. Wish I had gotten them planted yesterday.
House twins! I am wearing Vetiver blanc.
I don’t have that one, but I’m still working through the huge sampler that I’m so glad I ordered. Looks like I’m wearing La Luna today, which is getting quite oudh-y at this point.
I have that huge sampler set as well. I still have not tried them all haha. Dont think I’ve smelled la luna yet.
From one vial I get 4-8 wearings.
What are your favourites so far?
I’m ignoring my 50 Sultan Pasha samples while I surf The Sample Sea. I’m totally justified, right?
Sampling! I started with Juliette Has A Gun Anyway, and not into that, so I went in with Gentlewoman. (Didn’t even have to scrub the other one, it’s so wan.) Anyway, Gentlewoman is much nicer.
Agreed, Gentlewoman is very nice.
Jo Malone Wild Strawberry & Parsley – I still really like it and I think it matches my mint green skirt suit (it’s a very modern take, with a sweatshirt-like top half).
Have a very, very happy birthday, Eric!
I snagged 3 of the JM Herb Garden set, and I an really enjoying all of them.
You smell wonderful
Which ones do you have? I really liked that collection, great idea and nice execution, plus a perfect fit for the brand.
I have the Carrot Blossom and Fennel, Nasturtium & Clover, and Wild Strawberry & Parsley. The Carrot Blossom is my favourite – a beautiful spring iris-ish scent
Surfing The Sample Sea Day 9!
Reeking havoc in:
Spice Bazaar
Suede et Safran
D600
Baruti’s Chai
Uh oh, y’all. Wish me luck, cuz the two for my encore are vintage Diorama and Hummingbird. I will be performing without a net, but am thankful that the current weather is cool enough for a jacket.
Yum yum yum…right up my alley with spice, saffron and chai…..I would sit next to you any day.
I wanted to love Chai, the notes tick a lot of my boxes. But it somehow the sum of its parts didn’t ring my bell. How have you found it? Suede et Safran sounds great!
The first time I tried it, I was expecting a creamier scent and then once I adjusted, I found it interesting. This time, I discovered that I just don’t like the opening – it’s too acrid, maybe? Hours later, I’m enjoying it but don’t want more than my 3mls.
I checked my notes and they say it smell dusty not in a good way.
I don’t interpret it as dusty, but rather…pinching? Like the astringent effect of boiled black tea without the ameliorating milk.
I’m in a blind buy enabled by Robin, when she posted a daily lemming of a Narciso Rodriguez travel set on sale at Macy’s for half price. So today I’m wearing Narciso EDT for the first time. Definitely love this one.
*polishes enabler pin*
Oh, and curious, so do you like the EdT better than the EdP?
I haven’t tried the EdP yet. This is the first wearing of the set, period. I will probably try the EdP on the weekend. I did check out the reviews of both, and the EdT sounded more attractive, so I wore that one.
Right, thanks!
That was a very good deal. I stopped into Macy’s to see if I could pick one up and they were sold out
Boo.
Hello lovelies! I hope you’re all very well, healthy and happy! Want to try to start phasing NST back into my life again after a too-long hiatus.
After going into my largely scentless fugue state of the past few months, I think I’m finally feeling more settled and ready to get back to a scented life. I wore Eau Suave yesterday and some of it is still lingering on my coat. Today, I’m wearing Osmanthus-scented lotion from Acqua di Stresa, purchased with Hajusuuri and TheGoddessRena three years ago when Bendels was clearing out their non-Bendel products. It’s making me happy.
Also, I’m leaving for a two week trip to Europe on Friday!!! The Black Forest of Germany, Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague are all on the itinerary. So, so excited.
Warm wishes to all of you lovely ones.
Nice to see you. Have a wonderful trip!
Thanks so much Lillyjo! I plan on it
Love seeing your beautiful face on here! Good to hear you are doing well, and what a trip you have planned! I visited Prague fall 2015 and it was shockingly beautiful. Your eyes will be exhausted by day’s end.
My sweet husband bought me a bottle of perfume at Castle Fragrances while there.
Have a fantastic time traveling!
I have yet to hear a single negative report about Prague, so I’m particularly excited about that city. Your husband is definitely very sweet – what Castle scent was it?
Welcome back!! Exciting times straight ahead for you…Can’t wait to hear about your travels!
Thank you so much Jada!
Nice to see you back. Have a safe and exciting trip!
Thanks ScentSpirit!
Good to see you! Sounds like a fabulous trip you have planned . Enjoy and do report back!
I shall! Thanks scent twin!
Great to see you here again. Have a wonderful trip and enjoy the most.
Thank you dear!!
Hello! (Waving madly.) it’s so nice to ‘see’ u!, it’s been awhile.
Hope things are going well for u, I remember that you’re difficult flatmate has gone, hope you’re enjoying a more tranquil home now.
Hope u have a wonderful time away, it sounds like u have an amazing trip planned! looking forward to hearing about it when u get back.
Aaaah I love living alone! You’re right – tranquil is the word. It’s amazing. But yes, very excited for this trip too! Thanks for all the good wishes!
Hello! Have great adventures.
Thanks so much!!
You smell so pretty and your trip sounds wonderful!
Thanks so much Barqs dear!
Glad you’re back and ready to fly your fragrance flag! Your upcoming trip sounds excellent–safe travels!
Bon voyage! Your trip sounds wonderful.
It’s nice to hear from you again. I hope your trip is everything you wish for!
Enjoy the trip! Stay fragrant!
I’m fighting the rainy-springtime blues in the mossy glory of Azemour les Oranges today. Ahhhhh.
YUM.
Double yum!
One of my all time favourites, so good!
I hope your Azemour les Oranges is doing the trick
It definitely is! It’s lunchtime where I am, and Azemour is now in its very elegant drydown stage. Just heavenly.
I’m also having a birthday today. Normally I like celebrating my birthday, but we just got blindsided by something we learned about a close family member and I’m not feeling terribly festive right now. SOTD is Pillow Talk from my Olfactif samples this month. That dose of pink pepper is helping me feel just a bit better.
How do you like the Olfactif subscription? I was contemplating signing up last night. I’m sorry about your blindsided news, but wishing you a Happy Birthday.
I’ve been enjoying the subscription and I think it’s worth the $. I haven’t pulled the trigger on a full bottle yet (Pillow Talk is the most tempting to me so far), but I’ve been having fun with the samples. There are some that I’m holding off on wearing as they strike me as more warm weather fragrances. I say go for it!
Happy Birthday. I’m sorry that you’ve been blindsided, and hope you will get a chance to celebrate your day in due time.
Happy Birthday! Sorry it’s been dampened, though.
Glad I am sharing a birthday and sorry about your gloomy day
So sorry! Celebrate your birthday later — I move my birthday when I have to.
Happy birthday! Sorry you’ve been blindsided by news, hope you can still celebrate. IMHO, occasions for celebration should never be missed, in spite of, and maybe because of, those times when we are blindsided.
Oh, I’m sorry to hear this. Do hope you get a little celebrating in there, but completely understand.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with a tough family situation. You do get a whole birthday *month*, so hopefully you’ll feel like celebrating soon!
Happy birthday. Hope you can celebrate it sooner than later.
So sorry about the difficult new’s on you’re birthday.. My stepmothers funeral was on my birthday last year, so I moved my birthday to a happier day. It’s tough feeling rubbish on you’re birthday, hope things improve.
Happy birthday Cape Mama. I hope your day is cheerful despite the troubles.
Happy Birthday. It’s your day, so go as small or big as you feel like.
Sorry to hear that bad news intruded on your birthday. Maybe you will be able to celebrate a little later?
Sorry about the tough news, take a rain check on the birthday and celebrate it when you’re ready.
I got a hefty sample AND a decant of Feminite de Bois in the recent swap, and it’s cold and drizzly today, so FdB it is. Mmm.
Wow, I need to wear that before it gets too hot.
Happy Birthday Eric Idle. His performance in Love Actually deserves awards.
SOTD – Roger and Gallet Bois d’Orange, in the cute little 30 ml bottle. Why doesn’t everybody put out 30 ml bottles? Anyway, this was a swap or a freebie that I let sit around for a while before I gave it a good testing. I liked it, and I keep wearing it, and I keep liking it more and more. When it is just too hot and muggy out for Seville a l’Aube, this will be the perfect summertime alternative.
Book on Tape OTD (BOTOTD – LOL) New York 2140, by Kim Stanley Robinson – what I am currently listening to on my commute. New York has been partially submerged by the rising sea, and people respond in a variety of ways, as they always do. There are refugee kids, and well meaning cops and social workers, and a day trader who is a really good guy, and the Russian who can fix anything… I love Kim Stanley Robinson. His Mars books are just great. I love his expansive view of human capabilities – the hubris of the idea of 100 people terraforming Mars cracks me up. I love his characters (Maya Toitovna is the best character in the Mars books, and the best line is the book is about her – “(In the face of so many catastrophes and much death) Maya was the only one strong enough to keep on feeling.” This ranks as one of the three best lines in literature to me…but I am trying to talk about the new book!) This book is also a primer on catastrophic consequences of climate change. Please send copies of this to every politician you know. Unaffiliated with him of course, just a fan.
I love the shower gel of this one, will look out for the 30ml perfume!
I have only read the Antarctic novels but enjoyed them
Thanks for the clip Robin! It really cheered me up. I’m in the remnants of Cristalle from last night. I have a job interview today, and was thinking about wearing it again. Any thoughts? I haven’t interviewed in years(OK decades) ugh….
Good luck with the interview! I’m just coming off the longest stint of interviewing I’ve ever had to do…and hadn’t interviewed for years before that…so I sympathize.
Cristalle is perfect for a job interview.
Positive attitude, you will achieve your goals, lillyjo!
Go get it, lillyjo!
Cristalle is a great choice. Figers crossed for you!
Very good luck to you!
Good luck! Cristalle is perfect interview material.
Best of luck! You’ll do great!
Good luck and be positive! You smell amazing in Cristalle.
Good luck lillyjo!
Hope interview goes well, and they snap u up!
Good luck!!
Thanks everyone! I think it went well, but in hindsight, I might have sold myself a little short. While I was waiting for the interview I had to laugh at myself because i so wanted to sniff my wrists (the perfumista salute) I stopped myself, because I knew that would be the exact moment my name was called! I did smell fabulous though.
Hope it went better than you think!
I hope it works out! At least the stressful part is behind you.
Hope your interview went well!
Rain, rain, go away…feels like it has been raining here for weeks nonstop. (Maybe it didn’t while I was away on vacation? But it rained for weeks before and has been raining ever since I got home. The short break for actual spring in Japan was so lovely.) So…sick…of…rain. Yesterday was SL Iris Silver Mist, because it seemed to fit the mood, but I think it fit the mood a little too well. So this morning…hmm. Decisions, decisions. Thinking I may go with some old Calyx, which is a bit odd, but given how much my visit to Japan felt like a trip back to about 1989, and the need of a summer reminder…I think I’ll go that way once I have the family fed and out of the house.
Good morning Y’all!
Working 1/2 a day at my paying job, before heading out for an afternoon of Mommy duties. I’m always trying to find that working mom’s balance…but I suspect there really isn’t a true balance. We just do the best we can!
SOTD: Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia.
I can’t find a balance either.
The struggle is real
For me it’s not so much “balance” as careening blindly and wildly out of control on a unicycle down a steep cobbled street, and then at the end of every day saying, “Wow, amazing, I didn’t crash!” Which I guess is what success is going to look like for the forseeable future (until I abruptly lose my mind). Hang in there — you’re not alone!
Lol
I think the best you can do is manage gracefully.
Carnal Flower (courtesy of Oakland Fresca — thank you again!) for me today.. The eucalyptus in this is so interesting with the tuberose.
Such a pretty girl Ms. Kahlo was.
Couldn’t figure out who that was. Once identified, ah, the eyebrows (plural for now) .

Lest anyone be offended, this is from someone who had a ‘chocolate milk mustache’ at age 8. LOL
Ha! Funny man!
I too had that chocolate milk mustache at an early age
I looked at the picture and thought, “That doesn’t look like Eric Idle AT ALL.”
The connection is tenuous. Frida Kahlo had a bottle of Dana Emir, and Kevin talks about it in his review. So there is a connection, however slight.
No connection to Eric Idle, though.
I’m wearing a very successful blind purchase, LAP Seville a l’aube. This is usually a fall perfume for me but I’m enjoying it very much on this cool but sunny spring day.
l’aube is such a good one. You smell wonderful.
Lovely!
I have a 2nd interview tomorrow where I will be giving a presentation to a group of people and doing mock-up reports.
The requirements are pretty open-ended so I have to make decisions and move forward w/ it. I am stressed and having frantic antics accordingly. I have to buckle down today and get down to it today.
I am wearing Infusion Iris Absolue to help me focus.
Wishing you luck!
Oh, all the best on this!
Good luck!
Good luck! You’ve got this!
Good luck!
Good luck! You smell wonderful.
Yikes! Best of luck!
Lots of luck to u!
Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do great!
Fingers crossed for luck! I bet you will nail this.
That sounds horrid, hope it goes well for you. I couldn’t handle that kind of an interview.
Good luck! Perhaps No. 19 tomorrow!
Sampling the re-release of FM Outrageous today, will report back later with impressions!
Yes, do tell. I will keep my thoughts to myself until you report back. Do you have a bottle of the original formulation?
No, I don’t have an original bottle, but just going on memory, I don’t remember it being so thin and synthetic. Didn’t like it at all.
That’s exactly my memory of it. It smelled like cleaning products to me.
agreed! The original WASN’T! I have a sample of the old version and while it’s not incredible, it is green apple fun. I was told by the manager of the counter at Barney’s that Malle was never happy with the original and so that’s why it was reformulated. Well, the reformulation is AWFUL. All white musk and laundry. Very disappointed.
Happy Birthday to Eric Idle! I remember watching Monty Python on PBS in my teens. My parents let me watch it since, if it’s on PBS, it must be ‘culture’. If only they had known…! (Glad they didn’t watch it with me!)
SOTD is a Blind Buy Love, and a leather: Canoe Skive. I bought this on nozknoz’s recommendation, here on NST. And she was so very right
Thanks, nozknoz!
It was probably a step up culturally from Benny Hill, which I watched pretty regularly also.
????
Oh, I’m so glad Skive worked out for you! I was just asking myself the other day if I need a backup bottle.
I got to watch Monty Python too because my parents couldn’t understand a word they were saying with the heavy British accent.
SOTD is Chanel 31 Rue Cambon.
lovely..
You smell amazing!
There’s a 31RC club today–and y’all smell fantastic!
I am very boring this week as I’ve been wearing Apres L’Ondee every day. Can’t stop, won’t stop.
Why stop?
I love Apres L’Ondee, I have fond memories of a friend who wore it beautifully.
You smell lovely!
Boring?? Not at all… great smelling, instead.
If it makes you happy, go with it!
hee-hee, I like your attitude. I’m going to wear Apres l’Ondee tomorrow.
I’m wearing a chambray shirt and boots, and went to find Lonestar Memories but got sidetracked with Memo Italian Leather, but I’m enjoying it anyway.
Dark and rainy here still, so I warmed up this morning in Cologne pour le Soir. This is one I am happy to have in a big bottle. I know I’ll use it up eventually.
Gorgeous spring weather has returned to our area, and I’m celebrating in Le Chevrefeuille, one of my warm-weather faves. I get 3X points today as this was a blind swap love!
Hi all,
I’m wearing vintage Niki de st Phalle extrait, perfect for a cool crisp SF Spring day.
Stunning…nice to see Niki get some love…it is a beautiful fragrance.
Sending good wishes and positives thoughts to all NST’ers today.
SOTD started out with Tokyo Milk’s Sea and Sky (the poor man’s Eau des Merveilles, sort of), but it wasn’t doing it on it’s own, so I added a few spritzes of a recent impulse buy, Sea Salt and Fig. SS & F came from Old Navy where I was buying a birthday present for my niece. They had a bunch of cheap and cheerful fragrances at the cash register, and this seemed like a good bet to keep in the refrigerator to spray with wild but cool abandon this summer.
I like the idea of the poor man’s Eau des Merveilles having the poor man’s name “Sea and Sky”. Makes me feel vaguely like I must be getting my money’s worth with the EdM.
In Chanel Beige EdT. I needed flowers and honey surrounding me today!
Beautiful Beige, a walk in a Chanel garden. Fabulous!
SotD = Infusion d’Amande, from a decant bought unsniffed if I recall correctly. No surprise that I love it! I think all of Les Infusions de Prada (ooh la la) would work for me, but I imagine they are similar enough in style that one or two would be enough to float my boat.
I’m very grateful for NST splitmeets and especially for the generous perfumista who hosted the Id’A split. yay!
And, um, why Frida Kahlo today? Adorably fierce photo.
Fun anecdote: a nearby elementary school hosts an annual “person I admire” day. Students can opt to dress as their admired person and share their inspiration with their classmates. There are always a handful of students dressed as Frida. Makes me smile every time.
I should have just said — Frida Kahlo had a bottle of Dana Emir, and Kevin talks about it in his review. It’s a rather obscure connection.
Ah! I remember now. Thank you for connecting the dots for me.
PSA for those in NYC. There’s a new release event at Twisted Lily tomorrow at 7pm for Gallivant perfumes. The founder is the former creative director at L’Artisan and the scents are inspired by cities. I might check it out if I’m not too pooped after work.
If you get there, would love to hear about Tel Aviv.
Will report back if I make it. From the descriptions list, I sort of have low expectations, but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I’d have picked falafel and diesel fuel notes for that one over the fruity floral notes listed.
I know, fruity floral sounds all wrong.
Back from a quick trip to the States for my sister’s wedding, and back into the swing of too much to do here. My splitmeet goodies were waiting for me at my family’s house, plus fun samples etc. I’m wearing Rodin Olio Lusso from a sample gifted to me, and it’s way out of my league price-wise. Oh well, it isn’t $100 better than the Aftelier ancient resins oil that was also waiting for me.
Speaking of oils, I got some of the Stash oil when I was there, and it is to be used in small quantities, but it is delightful!
I really like the smell of the Rodin perfume and the oil products. I got a small sample of the face oil included in a swap, which was nice, but $170 for some face oil…
Now I can’t remember if I ever figured out if the Stash oil was silicone based — do you know? Glad to hear it is nice, in any case.
Joining tiffanie in Infusion d’Amande today. I probably bought mine during tbe same splitmeet. It is delightful. Props to Hajusuuri for providing this opportunity.
Oops! Props should have gone to wendysue. My apologies!
Infusion d’Amande is a good one. We smell great today.
We do!
I’m in new Jul et Mad – Fugit Amor today.
My skin transforms it into a warm, sensual fougere-like creation with lots of fresh vetiver. Makes me think of luxurious barbershop soap.
After the wreck yesterday I am feeling pretty beat up today. The bruises and swelling is worse than yeterday, which they warned me at the hospital it would be. So I’m home taking some good meds.
Trying Majda Bekkali Tulaytulah. It’s nice but too sweet for me. If it wears off I’m going to spray myself in one of my comfort scents. I will say that I put this on a while back and the staying power seems excellent.
You all smell great and I hope you are having a wonderful day.
Oh my goodness, I missed this news. I hope that you feel better soon!
Oh, no! I missed it too! Whatever happened, glad you’re here to talk about it and I hope it’s a quick recovery.
I really liked Tulaytulah when I sampled it last summer- I have to retry it now since my tolerance for sweet has gone down.
KellyC, I saw your post about the wreck this morning and have been hoping you’d pop by here today. I’m so sorry that happened and oh! your new car! I was in a similar wreck in December, and it definitely can take a while for the adrenaline to wear off and the injuries to bloom. I’m so glad that you’re doing okay, and I hope that your recovery goes smoothly. Good luck with sorting out the whole aftermath while you’re dealing with the insurance companies.
My adrenaline was so high yesterday I didn’t realize how bad I hurt until I tried to rest and sleep. Doc said today and tomorrow should be the worst so keeping my fingers crossed.
Oh, I feel your pain! Recently my car was rear-ended while I was stopped at a stop light – the driver was texting and therefore paying zero attention. Car was totaled. I was OK (though badly shaken and had nightmares for quite a while) except for tremendous bruising where the seat belt held me back. Don’t be surprised if it takes quite some time for the bruising and tenderness to go away. In the meantime, be kind to yourself – and maybe treat yo’self, as Donna Meagle would say. Glad to hear they gave you some good pain meds, and I hope you’ll be feeling better soon.
Gonna treat myself to that bottle of Baccarat Rouge 540 lol!
U poor thing, so sorry to hear about crash, hope u heal soon.
Hope your recovery goes smoothly and that the meds are helping!
Oh no! Missed the story! Not your new car?
I miss your post yesterday. I am sorry to hear about the crash. Hope you feel better soon.
I saw your post very late last night. That is absolutely rotten luck for your new car, but thank goodness you’re OK!! Take those meds, wear some great perfumes, and hang in there!????
That’s the good thing about being home to recover for a day or two. Can wear whatever I want and as much as I want! Infusion d’Iris Absolue for the evening.
Thank you all so much. If you are able, please do send positive thoughts my way. Yes, it was my new car.
I was turning left at a high traffic intersection (I had the green arrow to turn) and when I pulled into the intersection, a lady hit me full speed driver side. She ran her redlight. Not sure if she was on a phone or messing with a radio or possibly, since I was the first person to go after the light changed, maybe she was gunning it to try and make it through before it turned red. Never been hit so hard in my life. Luckily she hit the rear driver side door, not mine. She was going to fast that if she’d hit my door I’d probably still be in the hospital or dead. But the damage to the car is extensive. After she hit me driver side, it spun me several times and hit me again head on.
Sorry for the long post. I guess I’m just still in shock. Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate being a part of a caring community. Hugs.
Wow. Last night you already said someone hit you full speed driver’s side, but it sounds much more scary with more details. It is an amazing thing you were not hurt worse.
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to repeat myself. It’s just so surreal when I think about it.
Oh please, you did not repeat yourself, you provided more details! Plus, not everyone here saw yesterday’s poll.
I am sure it feels surreal.
You poor thing!
You are very lucky. Keep taking your meds and sniffing perfume. Hope you heal quickly.
Terrifying! I am so glad you were not extensively injured, from what you describe you could have been killed. I am so sorry for your new car too, double ouch. :-(. Hopefully the insurance will do right by you. Sending lots of healing vibes.
Oh geez! So traumatic! And it does sound surreal, especially since you just got that car. So, so sorry that happened to you, but glad you’re not more seriously hurt. Hugs to you.
Scary! So glad you are doing OK. Poor car. That’s sad.. but more important is you.
Hi KellyC, I’m thinking of you and hope your day had some moments of relief. Take good care of yourself with lots of pain-relief efforts and perfume, you deserve them.
Oh no! Poor you, and your car. I’m happy to hear that you weren’t seriously hurt, but auto accidents just flat-out suck.
I’m so sorry about your car accident, it must have been terrifying. Last year we were broadsided by a speeding car in snowy conditions, and ended up being pushed into a ditch and rolling twice down a hill, totalling our vehicle obviously. Like you, we were in shock for a long time. I happened to be at the health food store soon afterwards to get some Trauma cream for my humongous hematomas (as a result of the accident) with the help of a nurse who happened to be there as well. She recommended an oral Boiron pellet mixture called aconitum nappelus; it’s supposed to help you get over a traumatic event and assist with relaxing your mind. Take good care and be gentle with yourself.
I will have to look into that cream, I have huge bruises and swelling all over, especially my left side- hip, shoulder, all across my stomach. Your accident sounds truly horrifying!
It was, thankfully we miraculously were only bruised badly, no broken bones or worse. The airbags saved us for sure! The cream is called “Traumacare” (in a white box).
trying Good Girl Gone Bad Extreme. The only thing I’d say about these two extreme versions is that if one was in the position to buy either Straight to Heaven or Good Girl Gone Bad, I would go ahead and buy the extreme versions while they’re around. They last much longer on my skin and you need to use less as well. Of course they’re ridiculously expensive, which is why I say if you were ALREADY going to purchase one or the other. (and of course the extreme versions are more than the normal versions, but I actually think it’s worth it to shell out the extra cash.)
Tried both of these today as well, I agree they are nice and potent, but $$$.
Wearing Safari today, and enjoying the gorgeous hyacinth note.
Presentation/observation tomorrow, can’t decide between Cuir de Lancôme and 31 Rue Cambon or no.22 tomorrow.. Such decisions!
You really can’t go wrong with any of those choices. Good luck!
Best of luck to you! All of those sound great. Speaking of hyacinth, I really like the Jo Malone hyacinth LE.
Wearing Bijan for Women today. It was a blind buy I didn’t care for much at first that then turned into an addiction.
I called Husband in to watch Eric Idle, and the whistling in the video summoned the dog! The three of us watched with rapt attention. Made our day! Thanks, Robin! My friend’s daughter looks just like Frida above. Rain is record-breaking here, supposed to relent tomorrow so I must break out the Apres L’Ondee.
I suppose it would lose its magic if I put it in EVERY scent of the day, but it’s darned tempting.
I know that I need the reminder frequently!
Guerlain Rose Barbare. I have been wanting to try this for a long time, and thanks to a very generous person here, I am wearing it today.
Did it meet your expectations?
SOTD is Pacifica Persian Rose.
A very Happy Birthday to Mr. Idle! Robin, thanks for the video–I’ll be whistling that the rest of the day! (And if I may indulge in a bit of snark: I love how Janet Jackson and Tyler Perry clearly have no freakin’ idea what the deal is.)
You smell really good. One of my favorite roses. So easy to wear.
It’s such an easy choice. I often choose it on days, like today, when I want to just bypass perfume indecision and grab something I know will work. I think it’s a really good soliflore, and you certainly can’t beat the price.
Very true, and don’t you just love how Graham is having a great time clapping away?
Yes!!
Ok, this is sad, but I could not figure out WHO those people were who clearly did not know the words to Look On The Bright Side, but were obviously famous enough to get on Graham Norton. Really, that’s Janet Jackson?? Did not even look like her.
Still don’t know who the last man on the couch was.
Marcus Brigstocke, a British comedian.
Ah, thank you.
A very pretty choice! Might be time to bring my bottle out soon.
Oh dear, I’m having a hard time keeping up with reading this week. Just a bunch of little random things all ganging up at once.
After loving last week’s spring scents, and despite the better weather, I’m dipping back into cozy things like Santal Majuscule and Ambra Nera to get me through this week. Today is DSH Chinchilla, which on me is a lovely honey scent that disappears far too soon, but leaves a very soft skin-like musk for quite a while.
I hope everyone has a beautiful wednesday!
On the umpteenth cold, rainy day this month, I’m wearing Box of Eels. So, so warm and rich, I’ve turned to it several times lately.
Have you tried the EDP?
Not yet. What’s it like?
SOTD = another pick from the sample stash, Tam Dao EdT. It might have been a little light for today’s weather. I ought to retry it in a couple of months.
You smell heavenly!
Thank you.
I haven’t been posting much lately and am so late today but want to rejoin the party!
Super bummed today though. A little piece of tooth sheared off the other day so went to the dentist today and I need a crown. Trying to save money for a trip (and sitting on my hands wishing I could buy Arbole arbole and now Histoires 1740 both of which I’m so lemming for)…now cha-ching! Giant dentist bill.
At least I smell fabulous now in 5 whole sprays of Coromandel.
Late again today!
SOTD = Naomi Goodsir Iris Cendre
The decant was courtesy of clarissa, Queen of Splits and Swaps and in many ways, my scent twin, which means I am in big trouble.
Love the color of the juice and the perfume is a solid rooty powdery Iris – LOVE.
The Macy’s Flower Show is gearing up and the theme this year is carnival – vintage kitsch at its finest. Step right up!
SOTD- Dzongkha. I love that footy earthy iris note. Can’t get enough
