It is Monday, yes, but it's also the International Day of Happiness! What fragrance is (hopefully) making you happy today?
I'm quite happy in my Fendi Theorema.
Reminder: on 3/24, wear one of your "top 10 of spring" fragrances (unless it's fall where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of fall" scents)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

You are early today Robin. I’m happy in Amouage Gold. Today is the last day of my internship. It’s been great fun, and I’m sad that it has come to a close.
Tea is MF Thé de Lune
I see Amouage listed here often, I should try finding a place to sample them. Any suggestion on one to try?
I’m with Triestobeclassy below. I love my Amouage sampler. I think you can start smaller with a sample pack at TPC or STC, but the set is a much better deal per ml. My favorites are Dia Woman, Jubilation 25, and Beloved Woman.
I live in Europe and I got most of my samples from ebay and from a Dutch perfume shop. I see you have been given some good suggestion for the US below.
You smell gorgeous!
Thank you!
Seems worth being early for International Happy Day 🙂
It does.
What will be your next adventure? What was your internship in? Inquiring minds, you know…
Nothing exciting in the near future as I will have to finish my training, but this internship (translating) will help to find jobs in that field much more easily.
I would venture to say that it’s impossible to not feel even slightly happy in Gold! (I mean unless you’re allergic to it or something.????)
It’s the epitome of perfumed perfection, and you are right it’s hard to feel bad when you are wearing it. The day ended great by the way.
You smell great and well done!
I’m happy today in Amouage Dia – thanks to your SOTD comment 🙂 (I love Gold as well but it felt a little too much for this weather for the office wear).
First day of spring but it will probably start raining here in SF area again so I chose FM l’eau hiver. I love it and it is a lovely middle ground for work.
I adore l’eau d’hiver!
butting in re: Amouage, I have been enjoying the sampler set from luckyscent (women’s, 12 vials of 2ml each for $100).
I was thinking ore about finding a store that has them and spritzing, but thanks for the info. If I like them the sample set idea is exactly up my ally. I love smaller bottles and sets.
Hi Shelley, adding my two pennies worth, my favourites are jubilation 25, Epic and Journey woman, this one is so beautiful and lovely for spring (tea, osmanthus, apricot, mimosa, honey, saffron and tobacco, are some of the notes.) The silage is wonderful, and it lasts for such a long time too!
Jacqueline and ZGO are listed as official shops that carry Amouage line in SF.
Wearing Robert Piguet V.Intense from the Splitmeet thanks to Clarissa.
I am really enjoying this scent – the plum is evident, but not pushy, and it is backed by beautiful sandalwood/vanilla notes.
Sounds delicious!
How does it compare to the original Visa? (Pls say negative things, so I won’t be tempted to buy this! I really love my Visa. How to justify a flanker?????)
I haven’t worn much of the original, but the Intense is really very nice.
8 hours in, it is still wafting nicely.
The opening plum note is so juicy, but not too sweet ( I like my purple notes to have minimal sugar). The Sandalwood has a lovely spice to it.
It is a bit more masculine that the original Visa, but that suits me just fine. I would have no trouble recommending this one.
*Disclaimer – Piguet’s scents love my body chemistry, and I have never tried any of his line that I did not immediately adore. YMMV*
Plus, if you use your Visa to buy a bottle of Visa Intense, you actually come out ahead, don’t you???
That’s not helping!
????????????
Nope, but I smell good 🙂
If you send your address to T f k 3 1 (remove spaces) in the land of yahooooooodotcaum I’ll send you a sniff, and you can make up your own mind…..
A little dab of A La Nuit — a weird thing to crave at 8 a.m. on a Monday, but it’s still beautiful.
Yum!
Jasmine is ALWAYS a happiness-inducer, for me! You smell great.
Busy days/week ahead.
Early morning long workout to amplify the energy,
Soundtrack: Trust Elvis Costello and the Attractions.
RIP Chuck Berry.
Triple strength coffee.
Sycomore Chanel EDT.
Vetiver, sandalwood.
😀
Carpe Diem. Peace.
We bought tickets to see EC in June, I’m excited!
That would make me happy!
You should be excited !
Enjoy Robin !!
I was thinking ore about finding a store that has them and spritzing, but thanks for the info. If I like them the sample set idea is exactly up my ally. I love smaller bottles and sets.
sorry posted in the wrong spot !
Love Elvis Costello!, Robin, u lucky thing!
I will not even tell you what year I first saw him, but he was a young’un!
Sycomore, yum!
It really is !
I started this day sampling Tiziana Terenzi XIX March (yep, a day late), but I am currently wearing Chanel Cristalle EDT. I use it in other seasons, but it is especially fitting for spring.
Yesterday I was enveloped in a heady mix of 6+ perfumes due to all the swapmeet decanting. Today.. I forgot to spray myself on my way out to work 🙁 Commando it is.
I’m commando, too. 🙁 Completely forgot to spritz myself this morning and don’t have anything in the bag I’m carrying today(?!)
Also commando. Yep, it’s Monday.
Vintage-ish (mid-eighties?) Balenciaga Le Dix, magisterially old-fashioned and proud of it. You don’t get violets like this any more.
Le Dix is gorgeous – one of my favorites. You smell perfect.
It is one of my top 10! I found an unopened tube of bath gel recently on eBay. Very nice in a steam filled room.
SOTD= Parfums de Marly Athalia, lovely floral Iris on top of ambery but not musky base. I love this. Wearing it makes me happy. And it comes in that interesting black bottle. I will get a FB of this when my sample is gone.
I love Athalia too! So gorgeous.
Wearing my last drops of Alahine. Today this scent is giving me comfort and I know this might sound strange. This past weekend my father’s health deteriorated badly. No much time left. Dad in general didn’t like perfumes. Aftershave lotions were more than enough for him. However, on women he liked very classy ones like Chanel 19 or Caron Nuit de Noel, worn very lightly. But for the last couple of months his smell sense changed a lot. One day, I wore Alahine and he said it was delicious. It reminded him of a dessert with raisins. One day, he asked me why I was not wearing it and from there on, everytime I go to see him, Alahine is with me. I hope to get the sample I ordered yesterday on time to keep giving him some pleasant olfactory comfort until the end. In the mean time I will bring my empty sample and put it in his pillow every day I visit him so he can smell it. I am sure he will love it. I guess Alahine will occupy a special place in my heart after this. I am sorry for my sad post, but I just needed to let it out and share it. Drinking triple strength coffee to keep my energy high on a crazy, busy day. Happy Monday everyone!
Lovely post, and very best wishes and peace to you and your Dad.
Lovely post, perfumelover67.
I will keep your Father and you in my good thoughts.
The best to Everyone.
What a sweet story. Wishing you some treasured moments with your dad.
So sorry to hear about your father. Thinking of you and thank you for sharing that beautiful scent tribute. Very moving. And I’m with your father on the raisins in Alahine. Hugs.
I am so sorry for your fathers failing health. My sister and I are beginning that path with our dad. You are very sweet to consider such small comforts for him.
This is a beautiful post. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
What a lovely thing to read this morning, thanks so much for sharing, it’s especially helpful for me today – hugs.
Sad, but also full of love, and that can never be bad. Sending hugs.
Such a beautiful post. Glad you and your father are getting comfort from perfume.
A lovely tribute to your dad. Wishing you comfort and peace.
Thank you for sharing this. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending hugs…
Very touching. Thank you for sharing.
Very sorry to hear about your dad. Your story is lovely. Thinking of you.
I have a nice decant of Alahine that someone sent me, but after a couple wearings I am unhappily getting allergy twitches from it.
Please email me at my username here in the land of Gee Mail, with your address, and I would be happy to send it to you. Being able to be with a parent in their last days is a great blessing, and I would love for you to have this to help.
Thank you for the bittersweet, lovely post. I hope every moment you get with you Dad is lovely. Take care, you and he are in my thoughts.
Sending you warmest thoughts! I have a small amount of Alahine left over from a decant and I will include that in your package to be mailed tomorrow. Have a peaceful day!
Thank you so much for sharing a story coloured with so much love.
I too have a small amount of Alahine that is just MEH on me.
If you would send your mailing address to t f k 3 1 ( remove spaces) in the land of yahhhhhhoooooodaughtcaum I would be happy to find it such a loving home
You are a thoughtful, loving daughter.
Sending you and your dad comforting vibes for this transition. How lovely that Alahine is there to accompany you both.
I’m so sorry. I hope you have peace and comfort in the time you have left together. Hugs to you and your family.
Beautiful post. Sending warm thoughts to you and your family. Alahine is beautiful and I am glad you were able to share that with your father.
That’s going to be a beautiful way for you to capture a very special memory. Thank you for sharing with us.
Sorry to hear about your dad. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. I wish you and your family all the comfort, peace and strength.
Thanks for sharing. You and your father are in my thoughts.
You are a loving thoughtful daughter. Peace to you and your dad.
Thank u for sharing this lovely scent story/experience with us, it has brought a lump to my throat.. Hope you’re Dad Is as comfortable as can be, and it’s so lovely that he and u can take comfort in your perfume. Alanine has been on my to try list for awhile, I’ll definitely seek it out.
Thank you for sharing your tender thoughts about your father. You smell lovely today.
Lovely post, thank you for sharing! My scented memories of my Mom keeps me going onwards and upwards on many days.X
Sorry to hear your sad news. Wishing you as much time with your dad as possible.
So sorry to hear about your dad; however, I am glad that you are finding scented comfort in Alahine.
So sorry to hear about your dad. What a loving story you shared!
I’m sorry to hear about your dad. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I’m wearing Carven Le Parfum today. I haven’t worn it for a long time and had forgotten how good it is. Plus, its a cheap thrill!
I really like that one.
Me three.
It’s the equinox! I’m in Penhaligon’s Equinox Bloom in celebration – It’s a little bit bubblegum-ish and not a top ten for sure, but I’m enjoying it. 🙂
Have you got your Sens Unique box for March yet? I got mine on Friday.
Not yet! Is there anything amazing I should look forward to?
The theme of this one is leather, and that is usually one of my favourites, but not one did it for me on the initial spray.
Since friday I am being plagued by a runny nose, sore throat and a nasty cough.
I am still able to smell and taste a thing or two. Phew.
Today I am wearing Hinoki by CdG.
Yesterday I saw Logan in the cinema! Very entertaining generational road movie meets bad ass action flick.
And Hugh Jackman finally had a chance to add more depth to the character he has been playing for ages now.
Hope you feel better soon.
Ive been thinking about seeing Logan, it’s good to hear that!
Jicky is so good isn’t it?
Saw Logan last week with guy and my teenage son and really enjoyed it!
Hinoki is not really a spring scent btw. But it is slightly camphorous, so it worked fine this morning for my runny nose. 😉
Yesterday I was wearing Eau de Narcisse Bleu, now that surely IS a Spring scent.
You can see narcisses everywhere here right now. I also love the greek myth about Narcissus and Echo.
My son loved it, my husband did not. I stayed home and watched old Twin Peaks reruns and was perfectly happy 🙂
Aw yea, twin peaks!!! One of my fav tv series ever.
Still not sure if re-starting it is a good or bad idea…we’ll soon find out 😉
Speaking of Hinoki, did you get my package?
Yes, and sent you an email — but I am taking it that you did not get my email?
Get well soon!
I’m running around trying to mail these packages for the swap meet!
everybody have a fragrant day ahead
Thanks to a generous NSTer I am wearing Jicky! Why haven’t I ever tried this one before?
And do you love it?
You smell fantastic!
the dry down is fab! love it
This cold has moved from my chest up into my nose and I feel like a faucet. 🙁 Probably no perfume today since I can’t smell it. Good thing I got in some pleasant wears over the weekend (MG Plum and Henry Dunay Sabi).
However, I’m so so happy to have my daughter home on spring break this week!
Happy that your daughter is home. Hopefully the cold is on its way out.
I hope you feel better soon. Have a wonderful time with your daughter.
Feel better soon and enjoy your time with your daughter!
Enjoy spending time with your daughter, and get well soon!
In Vol de Nuit today, and extremely happy about it. 🙂
classy!
Finally the sun is out, I feel spring approaching and that makes me happy , I am wearing FM Angeliques sous la pluie. I have salsa class this morning, looking forward to that.
Hope it was a fun class!
Playing with Zoologist samples, I’m going to sample Macque today. It’s a lazy morning after a rough weekend and I am craving something new!
I have had so much fun with this brand.
Have you tried Civet yet???
Sampling Noir de Noir today, thanks to a generous Nster. How come you guys never mentioned this before:) its wonderful!
One of my favs! My bf bought if for me in January when we were in Vegas for my birthday and I think of that trip each time I wear it. You smell fantastic!
I’m feeling kind of grumpy for International Happiness Day. Sprayed myself with Hanae Morae because it usually warms and comforts me. It is cold and grey outside and I have to go back to work tomorrow after a week off. I have given myself until noon to feel grumpy and then I have to get my act together.
I give myself a grumpy time limit too.
Equistrius is my happy scent today. The temperature is rising and will melt some of the snow from last week’s storm. So nice to see the sun!
You smell great. It’s 93° here right now, so can I swap you some sun and warmth for cooler temperatures??
I am purely tired of winter but you win! How do you do it? ????
Even for here in the desert, it’s a bit too warm for this time of year. But the temperature is supposed to drop 20+ degrees in a few days with the system moving in, so maybe the warmth *will* end up reaching you. I can try to mentally steer it your way. ????
SOTD: La Chasse Aux Papillons
🙂
oh, so pretty! You smell wonderful, and springy!
Lovely!
Vero Profuma Mito EdP today, seems perfect for spring and makes me happy too 🙂
Patou JOY today, new edp, not as lasting and intense as the old Eau de Joy but quite similar actually, just a little sweeter. I’m so glad this perfume is still around!!
Pretty cat in your avatar.
The idea of Spring just makes me happy!
And speaking of Spring, I purchased a lovely watercolor of daffodils this weekend from an artist friend. So excited to have this in my home.. it’s gorgeous and it reminds me of where I grew up with lots of daffodils every Spring that I would pick and bring home to mom.
I pick it up tomorrow!
SOTD: the very spring-y, WIT
Aw, daffodils! Supporting local art! Wit! All of that FTW.
Happy Monday All! Today, I just wanted to wear something that is just clean, crisp, and light to start my week. I chose JM’s Neroli and Basil again. I just love this scent!
I’m in Cuir de Russie – not particularly spring-like, but it’s grey and chilly here, so it suits. And I wear it year round anyway.
You smell beautiful! Cuir de Russie is an all-seasons, all-event choice for sure. 🙂
Thank you and it is! One of my absolute favourite favourites. My bottle is slowly coming to an end I’m dreading smelling the new version. I’m sure it’s OK, though, and if it isn’t, I can always buy the extrait. Right?
An excellent choice, natch. You smell wonderful.
Thank you.
Hi Everyone! I have been lurking, but just not posting recently.
I think I could easily wear an entire week of favorite spring fragrances.
Today it is Jo Malone Sakura Cherry Blossom .
I might do a week of spring florals myself.
Without any perfume at the moment. In the big boy laundry washing and drying my supersized sleeping bag while trying to complete a bunch of on-line work for next week. I have no patience for this inefficient process. All weekend I have been having issues accessing websites due to wrong info and inaccurate passwords, as well spontaneously being deemed “inactive.” So infuriating and a HUGE waste of time! Is this really what the workforce is reduced to? Am I getting paid for this nonsense? You bet your bippy I am! Ugh!
Rant over. I need to spray something super soothing when I get home. ???? Holy Cow, Batman! So Ridiculous!
I hear you!
Can you tell I’m a bit stressed?! Sorry to rant but I’m arriving a week earlier than I had planned due to facility request, but now there are issues because I haven’t jumped through the 10,000 mandatory online hoops because I was sent inaccurate links, passwords, and info by said facility- Jeez Louise! BTW, still scentless. I need to rectify that immediately!
Happy International Happiness day, and equinoxes! Starting my top 5 spring scents week with Sarrasins from Serge Lutens. Starts with that icy wintergreen and doesnt ever quite thaw, kind of like how the weather’s been here lately. But the sun is out today!
You. Smell. Amazing.
I need a bottle of that.
Yeah, it became the jasmine by which I judge all ither jasmines.
I love Sarrasins!. Right now it’s my preshower perfume.
Wearing scent of spring happiness Heure Exquise. And trying decide if I want to post anything at the swap meet….
And I did! Just a handful of things!
Definitely one of my top ten for spring, u smell wonderful!
Happy First Day of Spring! In truth, we’ve been experiencing spring here in Denver for about 2 weeks (temps mostly in the 60s and 70s), so I’ve been breaking out the warmer weather scents earlier than usual.
Today I’m enjoying DSH Perfumes Fleuriste, my warm weather carnation. Dawn has a knack for carnation scents – I own all of hers – and this one is the only ‘cool carnation’ I know of; they are always hot-spicy. Fleuriste is uncannily reminiscent of stepping into the florist’s walk-in fridge and inhaling cool, spicy carnation. It’s a lovely, and very office friendly, carnation!
Love that one. You smell great!
I need to try this one as I really like the carnation flower but agree so many scents are dominated by clove and other spices.
Gah! Hello, another lemming I don’t need… 😉
A pretty one.
It looks like I can go straight to a large sample. DSH does carnations really well!
Susanne Lang Vanilla Champagne for me. I think her line has gone out of business, but I still have my bottle of this one around. It reminds me a little bit of Casmir but lighter and more sparkly.
International Day of Happiness? Today? Well…..I just had a root canal, so I’m not quite there…yet! 🙂 But the upside is that my heinous toothache from the weekend is G-O-N-E! Whew…
SOTD: Clean Skin
New video up today! Cheap Thrills…. https://youtu.be/YWo2od5iebo
I’ve got Part 2 of my root canal tomorrow. Best Dr. ever but still hate having this done. Not a happy day 🙁
Oof! Sorry to you both :-/ happy and speedy recovery!
Spring florals all week long! Trying out Muguet Porcelain for the first time today. I am not enjoying the melon note in the opening, but hoping it will develop into something I love.
I’m wearing FM Angelique Sous la Pluie this morning. I have one of those tiny sample atomizers and as far as I can tell I have never worn this. It’s very peppery and not spring-like to my nose.
You smell good, Robin! I love Theorema but it’s getting a little expensive on Beauty Encounter (no affiliation) but thank goodness that I have 5 bottles of it.
I am spending my preshower computer stuff in Sarrasins. I will either wear Theorema to match Robin or Chanel no 5.
5 bottles is quite impressive! You’re my idol????
Got them while they were still in the more affordable range. But $110 for a 1.7 ounce bottle is a little pricey for me at the moment.
That’s wonderful! 5 is the perfect number. 😉
I bought a mini Theorema, and I’m so glad I did. I’ll wear it tonight.
5! Nice.
I wore Etro ManRose today but am underwhelmed by it.
It’s just too plain and bland. And weak.
Some spicy rose but not much character to it. And did I mention weak?
Congrats on your new bottle of MP! I’m a bit envious.????
Thank you. I’m a happy owner of 25 ml now, after split 🙂
Too bad. It has been a long time since Etro did anything fantastic, IMHO.
I have to agree. Their older fragrances stand on a higher level than current ones.
No SOTD yet, but thinking Iris Ukiyoe on this muggy day. I’ve got a networking lunch followed by a first-round phone interview, so I need something calming rather than happy!
Good luck!,
Thanks!
Good luck Koyel, hope it went well!
I went with Iris Ukiyoe today, first time this year so spring must be here!
Good luck with your interview!
Chanel no 5 EDT today for a morning of meetings. It’s becoming a “don’t have time to think about it” go-to. Happy Spring/Fall! It does feel springy today.
I mentioned the other day that I was not in the crowd that loved no. 5 (at least for myself), but have to say that my favorite aunt does not wear perfume but faithfully wears the no. 5 body powder and has for as long as I remember. When I hugged her the other day I had to comment on how wonderful she smelled. It’s just perfect on her. I’m sure you smell lovely as well!
I wasn’t in that crowd either, but perimenopause completely changed my preferences-it’s the only logical explanation- And like within a couple of months! I suddenly can’t deal with anything dense or sweet. I’m even craving slightly soapy scents now and I hated soapy! Cray. So never say never ????
Chanel No. 5 L’Eau is my SOTD.
You smell wonderful!
Yesterday, I layered it with the #5 dry body oil. So beautiful!
I wore L’Eau yesterday. You smell lovely!
Had a rough night, taking it easy today in Cierge de Lune. Yay for spring!
Yay indeed! Hope tonight goes better for you.
I’m sampling Chanel’s 1932 again. It’s quite pretty, and I think if I owned it I’d make use of it. It’s quite demure and rather buttoned-up, and I feel like I should be wearing a velvet headband and serving deviled eggs for lunch on Martha’s Vineyard while guests play croquet on the lawn.
A random thought popped into my head a moment ago, when I calculated that I may actually have around 500 samples and decants in The Sample Sea, which means I have more than 500ml of perfume to test. Um … that’s an awful lot. What my brain was doing while I acquired all of that certainly cannot be called thinking. 😉
Ha, “The Sample Sea”! You’ll smell wonderful for a long time to come!
Let’s hope so! 🙂
The sample sea – test 5 samples a day for 100 days, and it will be all taken care of. 🙂 This worked for me – I am now down to about 35 samples, in my sample box that has 44 slots for samples, so I have room now to get a few more. I have told myself, I will never have more than this box holds…except of course for the stash of samples for the next freebie meet…
Gosh, that’s quite ambitious of you! I immediately started rummaging around in my head and gathered lots of excuses for why I couldn’t do that, but I’ve tuned that out. Thank you for the inspiration, meridifay! Game face on! 😀
The huge pile of samples did not bring me joy but made me anxious. The curated set of samples I have now, does give me simple joy. I look in that box and am delighted. There are actually several in there that I have not even sniffed yet..Barkane for one. I might wear it tomorrow…
That’s exactly how I feel about them, and no matter how I’ve tried to make peace with it, that hasn’t happened in the long run. Thanks again for motivating me to take action.
That makes me feel better about the amount of Bendelirious I acquired. The local shop discontinued the ELdO range, sooo I bought all their remaining stock at 50% off…It’s a couple of litres of Bendelirious…Lol.
Oh yes, I also have many very large samples. Hajusuuri has been extremely helpful in my understanding of perfumath. According to the Hajusuuri Effect, you have simply acquired some large samples for perfumath free!
Hope you’re enjoying your time off!
I love that Hajusuuri Effect.I apply it to most purchases.Lol.Time off has been “good” but stressful,as I am still stuck behind a big fat red-tape of bureaucracy, lawyers, executors and estate agents.Actually went back to work for a couple of days, including most of this week.Work(And NST!) are two happy places,at least.X
I understand, buddy. I’m the executor of my parents’ estates, and that’s been going on for more than two years. It finally occurred to me that when the various paid lawyers and bureaucrats screw up, they end up making more money than if they’d been efficient. Here I was thinking they were idiots. Oh well, it’s me. 😉
No more blind buys for me either because I’m really just getting a large sample 🙂
LOL, it’s all in the positioning 🙂
I was going to suggest that you use 1ml per day and you will be done in less than a year and a half 🙂
Oh gosh, I’m way too much of a lightweight to dump on a whole sample at once. I have the feeling that if I were to continue to prolong the timeline for this particular adventure, I wouldn’t get very far. I’m going to speed date what’s here, and most likely pass on the majority. I’ve come to understand that I need my perfumes and everything I own to tick a lot of boxes, and I don’t want to settle for anything that doesn’t fulfill that.
No SOTD, feeling meh. I’ve just looked at my 80+ bottles and declared I have nothing to wear. It’s not cold out enough anymore for my boozy, gourmand, or tobacco scents, but it’s too dark and brownish grey out for spring. I’m open to ideas if anyone’s got them!
In gray weather I often crave licorice or patchouli.
My default cold/wet/gloomy spring scents seem to be leathers and/or green violets: Jolie Madame, Penhaligon’s Violetta, Cuir de Lancome. Or Infusion d’Iris, that works too.
Nice selection, I think I’ll wear Cuir de Lancôme tomorrow if it’s miserable again.
I’d like to posit Iris Ukiyoe if you want to accept into the gloom and No 5 l’Eau if you’re hoping to be sunshine glimmering off of wet surfaces.
Bois d’Iris wraps you in earthy flowers and supports you with some fragrants woods…I love wearing it on dark damp days…
Chamade.I’ve never been able to declare it to a certain season,it falls in between cozy-fall/first-of-Spring.
In L’Heure Bleue today, which I find perfect for spring days. The weather is beautiful here today and I am rocking this Monday! Hope everyone has a good week!
Lucky you — I am waiting impatiently for some fantastic weather.
Gorgeous!
International Happiness Day! Yes to that! I’m teaching early this morning (8 o’clock). having taught late last night. Can I Pollyanna that? Yep–I’m a morning person, so I’m wide awake and completely functional. My blood sugar was only a smidgen outside the normal range this morning. I’m wearing a particularly comfortable silk tunic and the warm golden glow of Fate, and really, I feel as though I’m surrounded by a nimbus of perfect light that moves as I do. These small things make me happy. I still want to resign, though. My job is on another level of consideration. I don’t think it fits me anymore. It’s like a dress that looks good on the hanger, but turns out to be high in the waist, or exactly the wrong length for your legs, or tight in the sleeves, or something.
Hey, be happy, well and fragrant, NST.
Totally understand the ill fitting job. Change is good even when it’s bad. ????
It was spring here last week, but this week it’s winter again. I have declared it to be Tom Ford week in my world. SOTD is TF London, and I smell gooooooood. So say I 🙂
I brought the MD misery with me 🙁
I love spring scents, but I might love a TF week even more! Will have to have one of my own in a week or two. ????
It’s not spring-y but I’m wearing by Kilian Pure Oud. There is a marine layer this morning.
SotD = Après L’Ondée came to mind as I woke this morning. Today’s weather is appropriately cool and grey. I dream of someday finding an old bottle of Après L’Ondée.
I’ve read and re-read wonderful reviews about this fragrance here at NST and from as far back as 2005 (Bois de Jamin) up to today (EauMG). When I wear it I often think of these words (from Olfactoria’s Travels):
” . . . when I am feeling fragile and a bit overwhelmed with the day ahead of me, nothing is better than Aprés L’Ondée.”
Apres l’Ondee – ahhhhh…
Bleck! Not feeling International Day of Happiness. Spent the morning at the vet with my cat. Plan C: Feeding tube. So he’s in a quick surgery and then staying at the vet’s until this evening for recovery and feeding. It was a hard decision. Vet was all for it, but our grizzly ol’ fella can’t tell me what he wants–I just hope we are not torturing him.
Now I am home and no work has come over the transom so I am exacerbating my discomfort by listening to the House Intelligence Committee hearings…(winces!)
Perfume? Nothing yet. My desk is still recovering from yesterday’s marination session– twelve different perfume drips and spills during my decanting marathon. The alpha scent? Carnal Flower. I think I have had my fix for tuberose for the next month! I’m considering what may be antidote. Maybe I’ll scrounge up my Civet sample. That might just do the trick.
RE: hearings – you are a glutton for punishment. Once I start, I cannot look away, so I just don’t go there. But thank you. They need to know that the world is watching. Sorry about poor old kitty.
Tuberose always wins, I find.
I’m a moth to a flame when it comes to public intelligence hearings. They just ended. I exhaled.
Tuberose always wins!
Sorry about kitty. Hope the treatment plan helps.
After I decanted Coromandel for splits, I couldn’t wear it for several months. Whenever I took the cap off to try, the aroma would make me queasy. ????
And Coromandel is so tame compared to Carnal Flower. You’re right. Months is probably more accurate. And anything tuberose heavy. (I wish I could develop a sugar aversion so easily!)
Sending happy vibes! Will be hard for them to compete with cspan though.
Sending healing thoughts to Cat. When I do splits, assuming I have the bottles on hand, I decant the lightest scents first because otherwise the decants will smell of the alpha scent as well. I think POAL will trump Carnal Flower.
When I do the decanting, I always wear gloves and wash/change them between perfumes if they get too fragrant.
Spring was here for quite a while several weeks ago. But it’s long gone now…
Sotd: VP Rozy is a nice springish scent for a cold damp day.
Wearing Gucci II eau de parfum. Perfect for meeting-palooza day at work. First time wearing, bought blind and so happy. Violets and jasmine reined in with bitter orange. Fruitchouliville could’ve so easily been the destination, but Gucci took a drier path, coupling the blackberry to cedar wood. Some days, pretty and translucent is all you want. GII delivers.
Gucci 11 is nice, I agree!
The body shop British Rose.Pretty straight forward soli-rose,but I like it.Sometimes I need a no-brainer scent, and this is one of them.Funny how I need to be “in the mood” for all my actual favorites, like I need to think about them and deconstruct them during the day.Hope everybody will have an AWESOME week!x
British Rose sounds nice, will give it a try next time I’m shopping.
I have the shower gel and body scrub and when am want a hit of straight up rose, I luxuriate in these!
Wearing volutes edt, my go to for rainy spring days. Tomorrow will be Cuir de Lancôme or Iris Poudre.
Oh Iris Poudre is such a good one.If I had a back-up in place I would definitely wear it more often myself!Volutes=Perfect.x
SOTD is Carthusia “Aria di Capri”.
Top: lemon, bergamot and petitgrain;
Mid: mimosa, jasmine, geranium and rose;
Base: Cedar, musk and laurel.
Interesting. I don’t quite know what I think about it. Sweet-sour-salt with a topping of aldehydes. It’s not very ‘me’, but worth trying as it’s not run-of-the-mill either. Someone out there will love this one with a passion. :^)
Nope, it’s not run-the-mill. It’s an interesting floral aldehyde. I thought it would be ‘me’, but I got pretty much all mimosa…which, it would seem, is not so much my thing.
Sooo late to the party today.
I went all-out with the happy-making fragrance today: La Fille de Berlin layered over LUSH Rose-Jam-scented shampoo bar and massage bar. Truth be told, I had no idea it’s International Day of Happiness; I just wanted a scent that makes my happy because I’m trying to fend off the gross cold/viral thing that’s hit most of my relatives already!
Be happy and stay healthy out there, NST.
You smell great. I hope you dodge that virus!
Thanks! I don’t want to jinx myself, but I think I may escape at least mostly unscathed. Fingers crossed.
Dark chocolate covered orange peel is like a party in my mouth!
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
Because spring. Because spine-stiffener. Someone had the audacity to tell me things worked well until I gpt involved. She’s a newbie and had no clue that I was the one who engineered the process that worked well for 4 months until someone in her new team messed up and changed the dynamics of what worked. She thought that just because we agreed to something it can’t ever change despite new information. Flawed logic on her part and she had pretty much fallen into a death spiral as far as I am concerned.
I stopped by the Whole Foods Market acoss from Bryant Park and methinks I may be back again. I passed by Kinokuniya and I saw the most darling pink Hello Kitty tote bag. Oh the temptation!
PSA – The 15% off beauty products at Macys was extended to Tuesday! I tend not to look at a gift horse in the mouth, just sayin’
Spring, No. 19, beautiful teeth on that horse… – who cares about stupid people?! 🙂
Ha, I seem to remember a few ‘party in my mouth’ lines from Buffy.
Hope the N°19 did the trick for you. Uh oh, death spiral. ????
What a Monday. Just one of those tired, mostly unproductive days. I wore my new used bottle of Boutonniere, so that was a highlight of an otherwise blah day. Swapping has been fun though.
My SOTD is Tiziana Terenzi’s Maremma. Almost a dozen years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long ago) I spent time in Maremma (which is on the western side of Tuscany, Italy). It is where Clint Eastwood’s “spaghetti westerns” were filmed. Every time I where it I think of that trip.
Every time I “wear” it (Spellcheck strikes again)!
