Happy Hump Day, and happy World Consumer Rights Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing John Varvatos Artisan, by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux.
Reminder: on 3/17, wear a perfume by Rodrigo Flores-Roux, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Gary Clark Jr. and Jimmy Page for John Varvatos, 2013.

Good Girl Gone Bad SOTD
Was reading the WSJ this morning about how Neiman’s is putting themselves up for sale. It made me a bit sad how poorly department stores are doing these days. (no affiliation with WSJ or Neimans) When I lived in San Francisco I enjoyed the Neiman Marcus there very much. They had a great beauty department and you can have lunch and look out over Union Sq.
That is sad news! I really like Neiman Marcus 🙁
They aren’t going away but will probably be bought by Hudson’s Bay. But nothing is certain yet. Bergdorfs also falls under the Nemains umbrella
I’m always surprised when I visit the San Francisco NM as it is pretty much empty with just a few shoppers mulling about. Of course the beauty & fragrance staff are desperate for customers and so it’s not a positive thing from my perspective and reading the news it looks like many dept. stores are really struggling with the new way that people now shop and what they shop for.
I agree.
This particular article mentioned that the reason for the decline is that many people are mixing high and low fashion, the internet lets you shop for more deals, and brands that use to be only found in department stores now have their own stores.
Yup. Which is why I will do research on stuff online BUT THEN shop for stuff in person. I will only seek out something online if it is impossible to get in Portland or truly unique.
It’s sad. As much as I like to shop on line, the experience of walking through a store like NM or BG cannot be reproduced. If you get to know a good SA, they can tell you when things that are your style or will fit you well go on sale. The cosmetics and fragrance SAs will be honest about new products. It saves time and money.
Too many daily personal interactions are disappearing and the “market” experience is a cultural one, not just commercial.
That is a good perspective
Thanks for sharing
Yes, I am sooo tired of buying and returning things bought online. I loved it at first and it’s still great for buying perfumes that are unavailable elsewhere, but clothes, shoes and jewelry are frustrating. I have had so many failures I have mostly given up.
So true. It’s a real nuisance to have to send things back. I hate it.
That is why I rarely ever buy clothing on-line unless it’s from Nordstrom as there is an actual Nordstrom store only about a half hour away from where I live, There is a Saks about 2 hours away and a Neiman Marcus about 1 1/2 hours away. However, I usually only purchase makeup, skin care and a few fragrances on line that I know I won’t need to return from any of those stores.
When you live in a small town and have wide feet, online shoe shopping is a blessing.
A friend of mine used to refer (tongue in cheek) to department stores as “museums of popular culture.”
Having visited some of the great ancient souqs of the Middle East, I see this shift to online shopping is comparable to human beings losing touch with agriculture.
Truth
Aedes de Venustas Signature EdP is the sample of the day. I saw the Friday theme and am saving my Oeillet Bengale sample for Friday. I did not like this one much when I received the sample a few years ago but am rethinking it now. They have great bottle design however.
I may wear OB tomorrow 🙂
Wore that yesterday and may do so again. Another example of my husband urging me on something when I was hesitant. I fell in love with it.
How nice to have a husband that cares about perfume!
I really love all the Aedes de Venustas fragrances.
Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin (sic) – Happy Birthday Sly Stone.
😀
Play it loudly.
Triple strength coffee.
Black Cashmere, perfect for the frozen tundra.
Carpe Diem. Peace.
Wow, Sly Stone is 74. Time flies.
LOVE Sly. Happy birthday and Dance to the Music everyone!! Spotify here I come.
Everybody is a Star! And you specifically, Bear, for reminding us of the birthday boy.
Santa Sacre for me, here this mid-90°weather.
Thank you, juicejones.
Everybody is !!
SOTD = Guerlain Mon Precieux Nectar. Very pretty, no allergy triggers, subtly boring, perfect for work! 🙂 I actually like this a lot and would love a bee bottle, except for the $$$$$. For that much, I could by something that is very pretty and not boring at all…. (say, a bottle of Durga, or two bottles of Rose Vermeille, or half a gallon of Chasse au Papillions…)
You smell lovely!
I don’t find that one boring at all. But that is just me.
I want a bee bottle, but yes, it’s $$$$$
Enjoy
I’m a fan, too!
I had to look it up, but that bottle is indeed gorgeous!
I love beautiful bottle design, and a nice bottle/presentation certainly attracts my attention, but it’ll never be the main reason for me to buy a scent.
I keep my collection in a closet, no showing off, not my style. And in the end I appreciate a good sprayer/and sturdy cap more than fancy patterns or golden flakes. Oooh this sounds soooo boring right? 😉
It is gorgeous!
one day…
I hope you are able to save up for it! 🙂
The price tag is kinda scary, but it’s not totally outrageous. According to the Guerlain French online shop: 225 euros for 125 ml, that’s like two 50 ml bottles of Serge Lutens (same price range actually when you calculate the juice per ml).
I appreciate a good sprayer as well and wish it was something manufacturers paid more attention to.
I have some vintage Chanel bottles that use propellant (rather than air pressure.) They are really fun to use. Does anyone know when they stopped using propellant? I’m assuming it was banned at some point.
Twins!! Love the almondy floral goodness of this one and it works year-round.
I love MPN too. You smell lovely today. Thanks to Hajusuuri, I have a generous decant but would’t mind having a bee bottle in my collection.
As the day goes along, I am enjoying this more and more. This is very very nice….
Mon Precieux Nectar is so pretty. You smell great. I must take the parafilm off my decant (thanks, hajusuuri!) and start using it as the seasons slowly change.
I don’t let empty bottles hang around, but I love the Guerlain bee bottle so much that when I saw an empty one available for a pittance I was gobsmacked with gratitude and bought it in a hot minute.
It is truly myyyyy precioussssssss.
You guys are making me want to wear it tomorrow!
Tea is coffee ☕️
Opening my bell jar of fumerie turque
Swooning over the thought of having a beautiful bell jar of this wonderful scent
Beautiful! Enjoy.
I love it. I had a smaller bottle that was drained dry and hesitated buying this.
After my mothers funeral, I decided it was okay to get and enjoy.
I am loving smelling myself today:)
Good for you! Your words today made me think. 🙂
Ella for me today
How do you like it? I’m thinking I’ll wear it Friday, though I’m not fully committed. I’ve had the sample for awhile, and I’m a little afraid of it.
I’m saving my sample for Friday too! Haven’t tried it yet . . .
CB I Hate Perfume In The Library
I smell like old books and leather and a decanted by the fire.
sounds great
I agree!
Oh, I like that one! Lovely- and very cosy!
You smell wonderful.
I have got to get my hands on this- I see a sample order in my future.
Haha! There’s always a sample order in my future. 🙂
Scent of the Day is Jardin Blanc by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier. It feels like spring, and that makes me crave white florals.
Tea is my usual Earl Grey.
Sounds great. I’ve liked what I’ve tried from that house–I think they are very underrated.
Very underrated. Fleur des Comores is another gorgeous summery scent, and they have done 2 wonderful vetivers.
Jardin Blanc is a white floral bouquet, almost like a more rounded out Olène.
I never tried anything from that brand, but Jardin Blanc seems lovely….on my ‘to sample-list’. 🙂
(“a more rounded out Olene” sounds like something i’d love)
Olène has more focus but Jardin Blanc is easier to wear, if that makes sense.
EL Private Collection Jasmine White Moss today. I should wear this more often 🙂
I love that one, too! So pretty.
I went for DK Gold today. Such a beauty!
I’m saving Gold for Friday, u smell gorgeous!
I love that one–you smell fantastic.
My boss’s funeral is today, so I’m in Cristalle.
Sorry to hear about you boss. I think Cristalle is a great choice.
Cristalle is a good choice! my sympathy
My condolences.
She was a great lady, a great boss, a great city manager. Our small town wouldn’t be as happy and prosperous as it is without her. She committed 42 years to the city, eleven of them as city manager. She worked up until the last to make the city a better place to live.
It must have felt wonderful to work for someone you liked and respected.
How wonderful to have known her. Many condolences on your loss- and your city’s.
That’s a beautiful tribute to an amazing woman. I hope your heart is not too heavy today.
I pulled out my old sample of Hanae Mori today. I’ve always liked this one, but not enough to actually get a bottle of it. An occasional whiff now and then will do me.
Oooh, that might suit me today. I’ve got a handful of samples floating around, and like you, I enjoy it from time to time but not enough to buy it.
Our 1.5″ of snow has largely melted, but school is closed today anyway, due to a wicked wind chill and the fact that in some of the more remote areas of the county, children are waiting in the cold for the bus. It’s pretty frigid.
The snow in my area turned to rain in the afternoon and then froze overnight. I almost slid under my car this morning trying to navigate the frozen bumpy lake that is my driveway. We did use our snowblower but the snow was too slushy to get it all. Our district had a delay but school is in session.
Great photo of a great pair of people!
It’s a bit chilly by subtropical standards, so I have blasted myself with two hits of Kalemat to keep warm. It’s working. ????
I’m a free bird for the next week and a half and LOVING it. Off to get Moby’s oil changed and a thorough going over prior to hitting the road.
Happy humpday to all, stay warm!
Where are you headed off to? I missed it. Hope there is some happy sniffing involved….
Headed to coastal NC next week for a 13week contract. Then hoping to head west, higher elevations of Colorado or Arizona for the summer. Not sure about sniffing opportunities since I am trying to stay rural…
I AM going to do a bit of a small sniffapalooza before I leave, possibly later today at NM and Nordstrom. Really wanting to try the Jo Malone Tonka and Myrrh before I leave.
oh, I do want to smell that Tonka and Myrrh as well. I seem to be sort of fascinated by Myrrh scents these days…
Freedom is happiness, zdeva. Congratulations on your new life.
I tried the JM Myrrhe & Tonka yesterday, but only on a card, because I was wearing (yes!) Beloved. It’s a lovely perfume, heavy, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, very, very lightly medicinal. I’ve just sniffed the card again. I would also say it has phenomenal staying power. It really like it.
John Varvatos has done some really great fashion campaigns. I love this one too.
You smell soooooo good! Enjoy your time off!
That is a great photo. Ugh, will to have to brave the snow & spray the bushes with Liquid Fence–those darned deer have been at it again. Going to spritz with Liu to add some elegance to the (smelly) chore.
The deer have been really going to town on our bushes this year.
Agent Provocateur l’Agent. I’m sorting out some fbs to sell or trade and this one’s on the fence.
The only RFR fragrance I have is Ella, and I’m saving it for Friday. Today, I’m wearing Puredistance Antonia, which I meant to wear to bed last night, but I stupidly sprayed in the dark and wound up in Puredistance White. Not terrible, but not even close to matching my mood. Anyway, I’m enjoying the warm/cool spicy/green effect I’m getting from Antonia this morning.
Antonia is really nice (and I love the name). When that lottery win comes in…
I love the name, too. (And I’m also hoping to win the lottery.)
My only Flores-Roux is TF Fleur de Chine, so I shall sacrifice greatly (dramatically placing back of hand against forehead) and wear it on Friday. Kidding, of course – LOVE FdC.
Today is Azemour les Oranges – lovely dry chypre for a very rainy day.
You smell great!
Today’s SOTD is my Olfactic sample of Earth Mother. It’s not doing much for me. Love today’s image. We keep watching our recording of the Foo Fighters Austin City Limits as it features Gary Clark Jr. in an outstanding guitar solo. And my, doesn’t Jimmy Page look distinguished.
They both look handsome!
I went to the botanical gardens this morning, so no perfume. Highlight of the visit was the greenhouse with tropical plants and flowers. And it smells gorgeous in there. A warm and sweaty mashup of greens, flowers, woods, soil, dirt, animals (they have birds in some parts of the greenhouse).
On my way back I visited a perfume store and tried…Mon Guerlain, small spray on the back of my hand. Haha, all those comments yesterday after Robin’s review, I just had to!
I really tried to ‘get it’. But after 45 minutes I gave up. It was just too sweet and cloying and powdery for me. I ran into a L’Occitane store, washed my hands and sprayed on Cade edt. Now that is a scent I like!
Also tried Egoiste this week.
All I get after 30-45 minutes is sour sweet candy (remind me a bit of those PEZ candies), with a hint of woods. 🙁
I expected something more from this, and woody+spicy is right up my alley. Also lot of likes and loves on Fragrantica. Is there something wrong with me?!
I like Egoiste
Everyone skin is different and it’s all about trying different things, so nothing is wrong with you in my opinion.
EL Private collection gets a lot of love but it was a complete scrubber on me! It induced a headache as well
I am not giving this one up, yet. Its not a dislike, and maybe I was just expecting too much. Next time I’ll use a bit more! Hopefully that helps to bring out the other notes.
I am always careful when testing something new. I once made the mistake of spraying on too much, it ended up being a big dislike. Its a mistake you only make once. 🙂
Current or vintage? Not sure if this one has been ruined by reform and fake sandalwood, but the old stuff was freaking marvelous.
Elisa, I tried a current version.
So, this might be my problem? 😉
I get lots of potent sandalwood all the way through with Egoiste. It’s not the Platinum version you tried? That’s the one I tried first and was sorely disappointed.
No it was not the platinum version.
The candy vibe disappeared after 4-5 hours and things got a little bit better and warmer, yes sandalwood appeared, not that pronounced though.
But I had only one spray, will try again and apply more 🙂
Good morning Y’all….
SOTD: Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia.
I love that you proudly say “y’all”. 🙂
In Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge. Quite strong jasmine and spices!!!
You smell fabulous, I love that one. It’s the only Flores-Roux I have.
So I planned on wearing it this week of course, but still have not found the right moment. Maybe tonight. 🙂
Thank you. JR is so beautiful!
You smell wonderful!
Commute to work today was just wretched. The crush of people and delayed trains.. not a happy camper at all.
At least I enjoy how I smell!
SOTD: Narciso edp
I am expecting bringing the stroller out today to get my little one to school is going to be difficult.
I didn’t think the storm was as snowy as I hoped , more ice and rain. Outside of the city was pretty bad though
I was really surprised as well! I didn’t go out at all yesterday and figured it wouldn’t be so bad out since it really stopped snowing by mid-noon yesterday. Boy was I wrong!
Definitely give yourself lots of time.
The struggle is real????
Beautiful scent.
Sorry you had a frustrating commute. Hope your Narciso cheers you. 🙂
24 Faubourg today since I’ve got a big meeting coming up…
What a great meeting perfume! You smell great.
My first blind buy, Bvlgari Omnia. Creamy spicy goodness!
That was a blind buy for me s well, also fell in love with it. Such a great all around, appropriate anytime fragrance. You smell wonderful!
A successful blind buy is so satisfying! My following blind buy was Bvlgari Black, another big win!
I’m drinking my second cup of tea this morning, Twinings Lemon Ginger. My first cup was Shalimar tea — so smooth, and delicous!!
SOTD is Lancome Miracle.
Jealous of your tea
I read that Paris my H&S is the poor mans version
I haven’t tried H&S Paris. I’ll have to try it. I have H&S Pomegranate Oolong, African Autumn and Tropical Green. All three are really good!
Love that photo!
Chanel Boy today. (Or is it Boy Chanel?)
This one seems to be growing on me. It’s a really nice, non-offensive wear to work scent.
Must be the lavender.
I like Boy. Agree about it being a perfect work scent.
I drained my sample but it was not a hit for me.
very appropriate for work, crowds
I really do love Boy but not the price point- it’s just not special enough to justify it for me.
Boy Capel (wink-wink)
It’s really cold and Donna Karan Black Cashmere is warm and spicy enough to melt some of the ice.
Yum. I will definitely be in BC this week.
No. 57 for me today. I swear, I think my sniffer is broken. Got a blast when I sprayed it on and now struggling to even be aware of it. Morning congestion I guess….
Trust me…you smell wonderful!
SotD: Vintage Diorling parfum. I woke up with a yen to wear it today.
S(ip)otD: MF Love Song green tea.
Vintage Diorling sounds really unusual, I know Angela loves it. What a treasure!
You smell fabulous! Old school oakmoss wonderful. One of my dearest friends has a bottle of that *in the herringbone-pattern box*! I’ve tried a lot of wiles to talk her out of it, but alas to no avail. 😉
I have been lucky finding this at resale shops and estate sales along with vintage Miss Dior. Diorissimo and Diorella are much rarer.
I’d be quite happy to find a vintage bottle of Miss Dior. I wore it about 100 years ago! 😉
SOTD Nuit de Tuberose, such a fun and cheering scent. I paired it with a chunky cerise pink hand knitted chunky knit cardi- jacket, embroidered with leaves and flowers, in sea green, pale pink and yellow. It was a £5 bargain at a local charity shop that always makes me happy.
The pairing is a very cheerful one, and I feel a lot better then I did this morning. The sun is out, and the daffodils, crocus’s and primroses , and the winter flowering honeysuckle by my front door makes me swoon with pleasure, does anyone know of a perfume that smells similar?, thanks!
The best honeysuckle in my opinion is Wild Honeysuckle from Bath & BodynWorks, long discontinued 🙁
Fat fingers… That would be Bath & Body Works
“Without dihydromyrcenol, I’m not sure where contemporary perfumery would be. Possibly a better place. Or perhaps nowhere at all.”
Was doing a little online research on men’s fragrances and came across this fantastic From Pyrgos post on dihydromyrcenol and the evolution of aromatic fougeres:
https://frompyrgos.blogspot.com/2013/08/dihydromyrcenol-understanding-evolution.html
Thanks, L.!
I loathe DHM…
Thank you for this link- I don’t like to condemn an entire ingredient, because sometimes it depends on how it’s used. But , this is a great expansion of the explanation you gave me as to what I find distasteful in so many ” masculine” fragrances. There has to be some fragrance using DHM that isn’t loathsome.
Taking a break from RF-R perfumes today because I wanted to spray instead of dab. I have samples of Arquiste L’Etrog and Anima Dulcis but will use those in the evening. And my other two of his that I can spray are reserved for tomorrow and Friday. ????
So I’m in Jour d’Hermes Absolu on this dark and rainy day. This one gave my coworker a headache last time I wore it, but she’s not here today!
I’m going to lunch at a new-ish taco place down the street with a coworker friend. Super excited for the tacos and a break from eating lunch in my office and reading.
Yum — were the tacos good?
Yes, they were really good! I wanted to try a couple things so got just one taco and a torta. Taco was much tastier than torta, so next time I’ll only get tacos. Ok maybe I’ll be tempted to try a quesadilla.
Oh good!
SOTD is courtesy of the very kind and generous Lovestosmellgood – Shalimar… Madagascar. I’m in deep trouble…
❤️
You smell fabulous , it is my favorite Shalimar flanker
I’ll be very interested to see what you think when you compare this one to the one I sent you.
Wednesday!
SOTD: JM Red Roses. Very fresh, clean of soapy rose; perfect for super rainy days like this!
And now- the rest of the morning I will be fixing machine code. Oy vey!
Not envying your morning!
Gazing at my new bottle of L’Heure de Nuit. I love the bee bottle design but I don’t know what I was expecting but for 4.2 ounces, the bottle doesn’t look like it is holding 4.2 ounces. I think because the bottle is round and not square makes it look smaller. Since I could get out of my driveway this morning I had to take a day off. I am consoling myself the the fact that I am wearing vintage Bal today.
What is Bal? House?
Bal a Versailles, it’s a perfume. Do not get the bottles with the shiny gold packaging since it’s the current version because it doesn’t smell good, go for the vintage versions of it.
thanks
Un Bois Vanille this morning.
A perfect vanilla!
Oriental Brulant for me. In general, I don’t go for orientals, but this one is lovely. Clementine-almond-vanilla. Actually, I think the only “oriental” thing about it is the name. 😉
Victoria from BdJ said the other day that oriental basically means vanilla, so there’s that 🙂
Works for me! 😀
SOTD is Dior “Oud Ispahan”
Top: labdanum;
Mid: patchouli;
Base: sandalwood, rose and oud.
Good lasting power and a decent scent. Not sure it adds anything to the repertory.
I felt like wearing creamy sweet carnations today, so I am wearing Billet Doux by Fraganard. I usually wear this one for sleeping but it felt right today.
Is it making you tired??? ????
Not yet!
Crazy packed day ahead and no RFR (even in samples, I think?) so I’m wearing two favourites to get me through it: theorema and l’eau d’hiver. (which I think is better suited to printemps, so that’s when I bust it out).
The only way around is through, etc.
Ah, you smell great!
I do! this is a proven combo.
Louve with traces of yesterday’s Mon Guerlain. Not too shabby. I was writing about the smells I remembered from my younger childhood yesterday and the one that still makes me gag is Veet. I think it is less offensive now than in the 60/70s but that smell of burnt and rotting baby lotion, and so strong it took over the whole house. There was something almost shameful about that smell. Anyway…Veet, Fenjal, Bronnley soaps, Tweed, Lavender talc and then a happy swing to Diorissimo ( phew).
I loved Bronnley soaps! There was a lemon one, and was it French Fern? I yearned for my own cakes if that!
Bronnley made the lemon shaped soaps but I think Morny made French Fern. Both good. I think I like Ys-Uzac lale because it reminds me of the lemon soap.
Yes! Of course it was Morny! I loved those passionately and would like to re-visit.
I’m looking forward to sniffing Mon Guerlain, whenever it arrives in these parts. Oof, just the thought of Veet makes me want to open a window. That stuff is seriously toxic-smelling. The last time I encountered it, it *was* still strong enough to take over the house.
I didn’t think it was that bad and worth a try on the skin.
I was expecting something really really sweet, but its sheer on me.
I am going to re-try Mon Guerlain today. They are giving away a Mon Guerlain candle with purchase – so there’s that. I can’t understand how it takes no time for some perfumes to reach Dunedin (Poison Girl, Zadig&Voltaire, Mon Guerlain) and yet 18 months for others (Angel Muse) …and never ever for some. I think Mon Guerlain could be quite nice for autumn, a bit clear and sharp.
Veet is in my top ten of worst smells…everything about it , ugh.
Guerlain Metallica/Metalys today. The top notes smell a little off (either due to age, or perhaps my nose just doesn’t like the top notes), but that drydown….. yum!
Happy Hump Day Everyone! I combined two of my Jo Malone fragrances today. I am wearing Sakura Cherry Blossom and Nectarine Blossom & Honey. Smells pretty good together.????
Sounds delightful!
It was. That’s my favorite thing about JM. You can combine pretty much any of their scents together and get something different and great.
Yay! I actually have a moment to check in today. The phones, credit card machine, and computers have been taking turns going out for the last two days and I haven’t gotten a proper break.
I awoke in the mood for Taklamakan again today and decided to go for it in spite of the warm day and supposedly scent-phobic coworker. So thankful I’m nicely scented under my scrubs because I’ve had to wrestle several very smelly animals so far today, one of which has thrown my back into a state of twinginess. My extra cup of coffee and nice smelling abdomen are all that are holding me together at the moment 😉 I WILL buy a bottle of this stuff when my decant is gone.
Ooh! I’ve tested Taklamakan twice and it was very different each time. I’ll wear that tomorrow. I covet SHL’s bottles….
I’ve been wearing fairly light scents all week, but today my hand landed on Penhaligon’s Night-Scented Stock. It is NOT light, and I think I overdid it, but I’m still enjoying it immensely. Look out, Tucson (to quote Romy and Michelle).
Too bad we don’t actually have a Sagebrush High. ????
True. Also, apparently it’s “Watch out, Tucson.” Ooops!
My daughter’s fever finally broke!!! I am relieved and looking forward to normalcy returning to the land.
For those of you waiting on samples/decants from me (you know who you are 🙁 ) I should have them out in the next couple days and apologize for the delay.
Came across this interesting article on Jo Malone’s nose being as keen as a dog’s…
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4314448/Millionaire-boss-sniff-cancer.html
That was fascinating. Maybe that’s why her scents are so ethereal and fleeting – they smell strong to her!
So glad she is feeling better!
Good news about your daughter! How did the job interview go?(sorry if you already said, and I missed it)
Glad your daughter’s getting better!
I’m wearing a shrunken Chanel-style jacket and La Pausa to match.
My new poid (perfume of intense desire)! I will buy La Pausa soon; I can feel the urge growing! The boutique gave me a sample on Friday, and I love it for its pared down elegance. Gives me joy with every wear.
La Pausa is lovely and one of the best Chanels for spring, I feel. POID is a great acronym 🙂
Agreed. Long live POID. 🙂
Lovely as always! 🙂
Thank you, Holly! And good to see you.
Aw, thank you and ditto!
Annikky, I want to run out and find a “Chanel like” jacket just to wear with La Pausa because the combination sounds so chic.
Love POID also!
https://www.zara.com/be/en/woman/jackets/frayed-jacket-c358002p4521658.html
I wear it in XS, so it’s a little too small for me, which I find more rock’n’roll 🙂
Yay! Thanks.
Lorenzo Villoresi Teint de Neige appropriately named for todays outdoor scene. Should be the color of dirty snow, though. Very cozy scent.
So rarely see TdN on the polls anymore, and it used to be all the rage!
The gold-standard for smelling like baby powder! It seems like it’s getting harder to find now in the US.
My SOTD is Heeley’s Iris d’Noir…I wore it on Monday also. Yesterday our work closed due to the vicious ice storm we had. Today it is brutal out there. I went out to go to lunch and came right back as the wind nearly blow me away. Being home all day yesterday without even having to do household chores allowed me to spray on different perfumes at different times of the day. I must say Heeley’s Iris d’Noir is quite long-lasting.
Iris de Nuit? It is lovely, you smell great.
Today’s forecast is 90°F, and allergens are on the rampage. I’m sampling MFK Petit Matin. Boy, FK sure does like orange blossom, doesn’t he? ????
Happy Hump Day (or Thursday)!
He sure does and luckily, so do I. 🙂
Me too, thankfully.
He really does but that one was not terribly interesting or memorable for me.
I’m only getting the orange blossom and lemon so far. Unless I eventually smell some of the lavender, amber, or musk too, it’s not going to be terribly interesting to me either. ????
I found it pretty meh.
Hello, all. I’m late (slept long again!) and very relaxed. (jeans and a shirt; no teaching today, and a short day at the office, then home to write a lecture), so I’m wearing Donna Karen Iris essence, part of the Black Cashmere family. It feels quiet and blue and casual, like my linen shirt. It’s nice for a change. It really says just one thing, and that rather softly, but it knows its own mind. Be well, all.
Yay for sleep. You smell great!
PSA: Diptyque Sample Sale is at C21 downtown today & tomorrow!
JEALOUS.
The sun is coming up here to a beautiful clear autumn morning after a few dull and cold days. I think I will wear Le Temps d’une Fete to celebrate.
You will smell amazing.
So pretty.
Very cold, but sunny today. I’m going to take a nap! Sotd is Over the Musk. I love Jimmy Page. To me, he is still the best guitar player ever, and a total babe:)
I agree! I developed a huge crush on him after watching ‘It Might Get Loud,’ even though he is literally the same age as my dad. He is just so incredibly cool.
So jealous of your nap!
SOTD is YSL’s Y – when I first smelled it I thought it was nothing new, but with repeated wears I am starting to get it!
Mendittorosa’s Alfa is my SotD. Enjoyed it, but it was brief (and a little too soapy for me) and now I wish I had something else to spray on.
…oh and I voted today of course!!!
I was wearing TF Jasmin Rouge, a vote for Team Flores-Roux 😀
Exit polls are being published right now. Pretty exciting.
Fingers crossed the exit polls are right. It would be nice to see a stop to the International March of The Morons.
Thank you for the laugh, but no politics, guys!
No politics! I Promise 🙂
But this link is allowed?
Pictures of some quirky Dutch polling stations. A mill…a drive in…
(I voted in a school by the way, boring)
http://www.bbc.com/news/in-pictures-39279138
I used to vote at the German Men’s Choral Society clubhouse.
Oh! Thank you for sharing the photos of polling stations. The photo at the school of the lady wearing a cap and skirt with the little boy standing almost out of frame was charming. My great-grandmother was born in Arnhem. 🙂
Jiji, you did nothing wrong — talking about voting and pictures of polling stations are just fine, and indeed much appreciated!
Don’t worry Robin, the International Moron Party is strictly fictional. It’s the most fictional party ever. Fact.
(I am celebrating the Dutch elections by skating on thin ice) :^D
Very thin ice! Behave or I will be forced to disemvowel you! (only sort of j/k. don’t want more arguing about politics here!)
Saving my Jasmin Rouge for Friday. Its the only Rodrigo Flores-Roux scent I have at the moment. You smell great! Such an appropriate scent to bring in the Spring season.
The amber streak has ended! Today’s SOTD is a sample of Donna Karan Wenge.
My SotD is a bit of an odd combo and I’m sure some of you will think I’m a blasphemer for this but I’m wearing some of a sample of Creed Spice and Wood over ELdO YES I DO. I had already put on YES I DO when I looked out the window and instantly decided that pretending it was spring just would not cut it.
I’m loving this combination, so I think I might be in the market for something 10 times cheaper that’ll do the same trick. (Maybe a travel spray of Commodity Leather?)
Which I have just discovered is also a Rodrigo Flores-Roux! That settles it, going to swing by Sephora on the way home and get them to make me up a sample for friday
I only have one RF-R scent so I’m saving that for Friday. Today I decided to go with another rarely worn item, which is VC&A First EDT. I got it cheap at Ross a year or two ago. Aldehydes aren’t usually my style but there is a time and place for everything.
SotD = Hiris, so nice, and it makes me stand a bit taller when I’m tired. Hmph, it feels like hump day!
I have nothing by Flores-Roux, but on Friday I may need to stop at the shopping mall for a few things. Recently I think I saw a tester of Neroli Portofino at Sephora, perhaps it is still there.
Holy moly, I started the day waiting 45 minutes for my train. When it came, it was packed but I managed to get a standing spot. When we came to a major stop, the guy on the aisle seat got up and the woman sitting in the middle auickly slid over to the aisle seat. I thought she was going to get up so I asked if she was getting up. No response. I tapped her on the shoulders to ask if she was getting up. The response – slow down! Now, at this point, I probably could have gotten into a bitch-slap fight with her but SOTD Chanel No.19 EDP served as my spine stiffener and calming influence and I just waited for her to get up and slipped onto the middle seat. The guy sitting by the window said that the woman dropped her wallet. I passed along the message (nice of me, right? because I could easily have pretended not to hear the guy). She looked down and didn’t see it so I helped her (again, nice of me, right?) and pointed underneath the seat in front of us and sure enough it was her cell phone. At least she had the decency to thank me but little did she know that I was hoping her cell phone got damaged. Anyway, if I were Catholic, I would have had to confess. I have to thank No.19 for keeping me calm, cool and collected.
Work was super crazy and to top it all off, one of my two monitors is dying as I started seeing “pink snow” but I have had no time to deal with Tech Support.
Tomorrow is another day!
I’m sampling Mon Guerlain today -it was just standing there at Sephora on my lunch break – and now I’m disappointed. I knew ofcourse that it’s not a parfumista favorite, but I like L’Instant, Champs Elysees and Shalimar Initial (and love a lot of the older gems also) so I had hopes. But it is just so thin! White musk over cake and that’s it! It reminds me of Balmain Extatic gold musk and the dry down of Jessica Simpson Fancy, which is the best scent of the three.
