I just have a feeling that the sillage on this one is just….meh. It is probably that beautiful, citrusy scent that I would love, but would last all of 10 minutes on me. I love TF scents, but don’t feel that this would be worth the money like some of the others.

We are coming from the opposite ends since I don’t think any of the Private Blends are worth the money. Still, I don’t think Tom Ford has yet found the upper limit for what people will pay for a citrus cologne with his name on it 🙂

Speaking of which – a year or so ago Tom Ford discontinued Bois Marocain from the private blend range – last month it was relaunched in Harrods in the same bottle, but with a new gold plaque on the front like the neroli forte bottles. The price ? £250 for 50ml – nearly double the £135 price it was when it was discontinued. I can see a new Tom Ford cash-making trend of discontinuing fragrances then relaunching them as ‘from the vaults ‘ exclusives at double the price they were!

Yeah, saw that. But am I wrong, or has he not been cycling the discontinued ones in & out this way, as exclusive limited editions or something? Or, I read he was going to do this regularly, or something (???)

Anyway, yes, we both see that he did just that. Tom Ford understands his market perfectly.

He did , but they were always at the same price as the regular PB’s – Amber Absolute , fleur de chine, Italian cypress etc all came back as exclusive limited releases at the same price as they were. This is the first ‘exclusive ‘ rerelease that’s double the price of the original release and in a tweaked bottle with the plaque. I guess adding a gold plaque justifies the extra £115 !

Ah, gotcha. Well, gold toned labels don’t grow on trees 😉

I still have some bottles left from the original line-up of moss breches , purple patchouli, Bois rouge, Japan noir etc which are all long gone now – I’m hoping that maybe he’ll recycle some of those back as exclusives (though the moss may cause reformulation issues) but not at these new ‘exclusive’ prices !
