Frémont arrived in the United States in 1990, the first fine fragrance perfumer to be based at their Creative Center in New York City. Since that time he has played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s reputation in this segment. He is the artist behind a vast number of market fragrances including Calvin Klein’s ckOne, Ralph Lauren Romance, Bath & Body Works’ Japanese Cherry Blossom and Estée Lauder’s Modern Muse.
The 2016 award went to perfumer Sophia Grojsman.

He has quite a long list of fragrances to his credit, but I don’t own anything by him and don’t think I’ve even tried any. That’s unusual for me; I can almost always find something in my collection or sample hoard by any perfumer. OTOH, he’s done a lot of celebrity scents and mainstream flankers, which I tend to avoid. Nothing niche that I’m noticing right off. I give Modern Muse a sniff.
Exactly. He’s made some hugely successful perfumes, but few that are perfumista bait. CK One is the only thing on that list that I ever wore regularly.
Quite an impressive list of creations. I owned the bbw cherry blossom set when they brought it back a couple seasons or so ago. I didn’t care for EL MM and don’t think I’ve smelled the others.
It really is an impressive list — lots of best sellers there.
He composed my favorite modern perfume, Estée Lauder’s Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. I wear it almost everyday and I get tons of compliments wearing it. It has become my signature scent.
