Happy International Women's Day! Be Bold For Change. What fragrance are you wearing?
Today, I'm going with a glass of red — Strange Invisible Perfumes Essence of IX. I had not worn this in ages, and it's even yummier than I remembered. Now I need to forget again, because $525.*
Reminder: on 3/10 we're taking the Booze Cruise...wear a perfume with a booze note. Suggested by Koenigsberg.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows two bottles from Colgin Cellars, the California winery that inspired the fragrance.
* When they first released it, it was only in Parfum and I mentioned in the review that it really ought to be in Eau de Parfum so I could afford it. Now it's in Eau de Parfum and it costs even more. Be careful what you wish for.
Happy International Women’s Day! Fittingly, I am wearing Portrait Of a Lady 🙂
Sounds like a fitting choice!????
Nice!!
Great choice, you smell great
SOTD- Dame Perfumery Chocolate Man Oil (for sweetness) on a base of Eden Botanicals Dark Patchouli (for peace) and Eden Botanicals Lavender Absolute (for kindness) IN HONOR OF ALL MEN (the kind, caring and incredibly supportive ones in my real life, the beautiful, witty and great smelling ones on NST and the generous, sweet and talented perfume making ones-looking at you, Jeffrey Dame!).
I feel blessed and privileged to be a woman and am not opting out of being one today. To shirk my responsibilities as a contributing member of society and the backbone of my family even for a day would only hurt those whom I respect, love and cherish (co-workers, friends and family members).
Instead, I am choosing to celebrate International Human Being Day, in hopes that rather than propagating division, derision, vilification and hatred towards others who don’t have our particular belief systems we come together with a sense of loving kindness towards each other and willingness to listen with open hearts to ALL points of views, whether or not we subscribe to them.
On that note, I am recommending Marc Ballabon’s “Why is the Human on Earth?’ and leave all of you great smelling human beings with a quote from this extraordinary book- “defy the cynicism that is there to disaffect us all”.
You are back!!! And what a beautiful post!☺️
Thank you 🙂
That is a great quote. I shall try the book.
I am not familiar with Dame Perfumery or Jeffrey Dame and first thought that ‘Dame’ was French for ‘Lady’. Ha. Chocolate Man Oil is an awesome name for a scent.
Oh do get familiar with Dame Perfumery….he has some great stuff at great prices and is one of the most generous independent perfumers around!
WELCOME BACK! I love your post and I am joining you in celebrating International Human Being Day!
Yay to celebrating being human!!!
My work obligations also prevent me from participating in today’s strike, but women who are striking and protesting today are not “propagating division, derision, vilification, and hatred towards others”. I assure you that the women and men who are participating in International Women’s Day protests are not devoid of “a sense of loving kindness”.
Ari-
Thank you so very much for your thought provoking comment. As I said above I am open to all points of view whether or not I subscribe to them.
Peace to you 🙂
Yes!
Ari, I agree. I believe the majority of women and men participating in International Women’s Day are not promoting divisiveness but rather inclusiveness and equal rights for women.
Thank you Ari, this is my feeling as well.
Amen, Ari. We only want equality, freedom and democracy.
Thank you for writing what I was thinking, Ari.
Ari, I’ve read that another way to support International Women’s Day and a Day Without Women is to purchase from small women-owned businesses, so it’s good that you are on duty.
YES, Ari!
Yes, Ari! Indeed: the call to wear red today was *specifically* chosen as a symbol of *love*!!! I’m dismayed at the effect of disinformation about IWD and A Day Without A Woman I’ve seen lately.
Robin alread kindly provided the link to the IWD website, and the explanation about the love and solidarity behind observing ADWAW can be found on this page and its included FAQs link https://www.womensmarch.com/womensday
I wanted to do a strike today!!!
Talked to my “bosses”
One through herself down the the ground in a temper tantrum!
The other proceeded to chase the cat under his crib.
I decided it was not possible.
The struggle is real. The struggle is real.
This made me laugh.
Yes, and I’ll add that Unity does not equal exclusion, and that demanding Justice and Equality does not mean taking those rights from others.
A+
What a thoughtful and beautifully written post! I wish more people would practice kindness 🙂
Great combination of scents – you smell great, Chocolatemarzipan8!!
Thank you, on all counts.
I agree 100% Barqs.
Amen!
I guess there are those who are choosing to miss the whole point of my post to begin with…we should be celebrating everyone and not looking upon ourselves as separate entities…. our male counterparts on NST and elsewhere should be appreciated as well…..
clearly this is not a forum that is open to others’ opinions if they are not aligned with their own….which was also the point I was trying to make….
no worries ….I won’t be back 🙁
Your posts are always thoughtful and uplifting! But I understand what you are saying. Also, I had the great pleasure of meeting Jeffrey Dame. He is all that you said- talented, generous, and lovely! Hope to see him again some day.
This makes me feel mad & sad. Politics shouldn’t get in the way of the intent of this blog.
All I can say is I just came home from my mothers’ funeral and wanted to share while commando and looking hair crazed in my bathrobe after 12 hours sleep, I ordered a cloche of SL fumerie turque from the Barneys love yourself on the plane yesterday.
Thank you all for your kinds words last week about Mom.
Very rough few days for you. You have many friends here! I haven’t yet sniffed Fumerie Turque, but it sounds divine and just the thing for a bathrobe wearing, hair crazed perfumista.
chocolatemarzipan8, I am truly sorry that you feel anything less than welcome. You have every right to express your opinion (to whatever extent the NST comment policy allows us all), just as I have every right to then express my own. I do think it is important to note that while there have been several comments that disagreed with your initial post, no one has made any personal criticisms or discouraged you from posting in any way. The comments expressing a difference in opinion have done so respectfully, IMO.
I agree Ari, all the way down.
Ari, Robin, everyone, please don’t beat yourselves up about this, or let it dampen your feeling of community with other women on this day or with other NSTers. As Ari said, there were no comments that were personal criticisms. We all lose if we pack up our toys and leave the play date whenever there are two sides expressed in a respectful dialogue. Ok, everyone, deep breath. I am ScentSpirit and I don’t like Alahine, and I’ve never found a Serge Lutens I wanted to wear twice.
*waves* *offers Mom’s blueberry muffins to the class*
1) So, I will NOT blind buy Alahine!
2) Serge Lutens…only one I really liked was the Chergui but TF Noir and Noir pour femme fufills that need at a smaller price point.
I got the point of your post, chocolatemarzipan. fwiw I tend to feel aligned with your approach.
I FULLY support women who want to march or take part in whatever way is meaningful to them. That freedom is very important.
But it is frustrating when my respect for others’ freedom of choices is not returned.
What might have lessened the sting, Ari, would have been an allusion to “while i respect that is how you feel, my feelings are different” or something similar before launching into opposing viewpoint.
It just makes the back and forth more palatable. Golden Rule and such, you know?
I know tensions run high around these subjects, but a little bit of honey goes a long way.
BTW, wearing SJP Lovely again.
But that might have been useful in the first post here. There was little politesse there. We can and will and should disagree; I’m a little dismayed that a response to disagreement is read as ‘I’m not welcome here,’ when the opening statement was itself so strong.
That’s fair, and sure, all parties could couch their arguements in softer language.
I’ve been on various comment communities where the piling on just gets out of hand and is off-putting to the point where it gets clique- y and unpleasant. NST typically isn’t that sort of environment, which is why it’s so great here, and why i wanted to throw in my 2 cents.
If anything, this is something to keep in mind when posting non-perfume stuff, perhaps. We are super cool about one scent not working for everyone, and it would be rad if we could move towards that for viewpoints in the future.
I only mean this as a prospective application, because no one can go back in time and un-comment or un-read comments 🙂
The Golden Rule came to mind for me too!
Hi Chocolatemarzipan,
I would be very sad if you chose not to chime in here from time to time. I have missed your thoughtful and warm presence recently on NST and was very glad to see you posting today. I am happy and proud in my red t-shirt today, but joining ScentSpirit in taking a deep breath because your ideas and thoughts matter to me too.
Warmly, OF
Well, I’m very sorry. I perhaps should have cut this discussion short but I did not / do not see Women’s Day as a partisan issue. I thought everyone was being respectful of each other, but I’m so sorry chocolatemarzipan8 if you do not feel welcome. I can only say that I did not think anyone was rude to anyone, so thank you to everyone for keeping it polite.
Excellent post!!
Great reminder that we are all human and there are far more commonalities than differences 🙂
I am taking time to look through photos of the womens march on DC fro. 1913 to honor my forebearers.
Dearest chocolatemarzipan, I hope that you will see this comment. Your posts are ALWAYS positive and encouraging. I agree, your point was missed. Peace to you.
I just want to say I was so happy to see you back! I really hope you stay.
Glad you’re back, chocolatemarzipan.
I’ve missed that three-eyed owl. You are definitely loved just the way you are!
Bvlgari au The Bleu. It is such a relaxing and beautiful scent. It was also a “love at first sniff” for me. I tested it, and the next day bought the bottle.
That one really is relaxing. Eventually I will have to find a mini.
Have we done a “love at first sniff” community project? Enjoy your relaxing and beautiful! Always a good plan.
L’artisan Vanilia today from my newly arrived samples. It’s lovely. I have yet to try L’artisan’s other vanilla and it’s makes me wonder why both have been discontinued…????
Mmm…I’ve never worn their other vanilla, but I absolutely love Vanilia. So sad it’s discontinued!
It’s a good question — find it hard to believe neither sold well? But what do I know. (Nothing.)
Maybe L’artisan felt that with IRFA regulations, reformulating would not do it justice? I have to respect a perfumer for choosing to discontinue something versus reformulating it to something beyond recognition of it’s original self.
I was in Ulta recently and there was a tester of Lauren. It smells nothing(!) like the original beauty that I wore in high school 30+ years ago. Luca Turin was right about that one, what a shame.
Really? I had no idea Havana Vanille ran afoul of anything IFRA-related. What note was it?
Oh no, I didn’t mean to imply that I actually knew anything- lol. Just taking a guess. Sales were probably the reason, money is usually the motivating factor behind anything.
Gotcha! I always assume it’s money, but then I also always assume vanilla sells, so it’s puzzling.
I have some of the “other one,” havana vanille, and it’s the booziest thing own, so I’ll surely be wearing it this week…
Vanilia is one of the only vanillas that I can wear — so many are so cloying and gag-reflex-triggering for me.
Wearing Gardenia Batik today since I’m finding it beautiful and steadying while I’m trying to cope with the probable loss this weekend of my sick, elderly cat and whether I need to make that decision or nature will
I’m sorry about the kitty. We had sweet Silvia for 20 years and it was hard to let her go.
Oh, I’m so sorry. Such a tough decision. Give that baby lots of love these next few days.
This is hard. Your cat can surely feel you care, and that’s a beautiful thing about being a human. Wishing you strength!
Oh, so sorry. No matter the age, it’s heartbreaking. Our sweet Luna was 19. Wishing you much comfort.
I am so sorry. Wrap your kitty with tons of love and be grateful for the good times she brought to your life. Sending you comforting thoughts.
I am so sorry. I lost my kitty at 18 last year- he was with me all of my adult life so I know it’s hard. Thinking of you.
My sympathies — that’s so hard.
I’m so very sorry that you and your cat are suffering- whatever decision you make will be the right one.
I’m sorry about your beloved cat. You’ll be in my thoughts. Hugs for you.
So sorry. It is so very hard to lose a friend. Hugs.
Hugs to you! Losing a fur baby is just so hard!
I’m so sorry to hear about your cat – I’ve been in that situation and it’s horrible. Focus on how many happy years you have shared with her. Hugs to you.
Thinking of you. Take gentle care.
Hey Thegoddessrena, we are right behind you. Our merely 13 year old cat is pretty sick. I’ve been dosing him with steroids, antacids, and an expensive Rx for liver inflammation, plus filling him up with fluids every night by IV… he’s my oldest son’s favorite. The pesky kitty is still full of conversation and wants to lope about the garden (but doesn’t really), but he is very very thin and the pads of his feet get so icy cold.
I was picking up another kitten from the shelter when this one kept catching my cloths as I passed by sticking his little kitten paw as far as he could out of his cage. Since both kittens fit in the carrier I had brought, I took him as well. When we got home, my husband’s face was precious when after pulling the first kitten from the bag, I pulled out another. My son is leaving on a trip for a few weeks, and I am hoping that the kitty stays well enough to be here when he gets back.
I’ll be thinking of you and your furry pal. An old cat is such good company, it is really hard to say good bye.
I hope your cat hangs in there, OF, he certainly seems to be getting the best care.
Such a nice story about pulling the two cats from the bag, and very best wishes to you and your cat!
Well, of course you couldn’t resist a kitty who chose you like that!
I hope you and the kitty can keep each other company while your son is away.
I am sorry about your kitty, wishing for a peaceful transition.
I’m so sorry your cat is dying. I remember how difficult it is to endure and wonder about.
So sorry about your kitty. I hope the well wishes here comfort you. Sending virtual hugs.
Oh dear, I know how hard that is. Sending hugs!
Oh dear, so sorry to hear about your kitty. Wishing both of you peace.
I feel for you! Hoping for courage and comfort for you and your baby kitty.
I’m sorry you’re going through this difficult time with your cat. I’m sending love for you both.
So sorry to hear this. I hope you find peace with it, in time, no matter which way her spirit goes.
So sorry to hear about your kitty, that’s a tough goodbye.
I’m so very sorry to hear about your kitty. Please take good care and sending you hugs.
Oh no! At least you had a few extra years with the cat…
Trying Alaia Blanche from a magazine strip–getting a powdery vanilla, but not overly sweet. Never ran across the original.
I purchased Alaia Blanche back in December. I need to show it more attention, since it is so lovely.
Net a Porter has a cute little 30 ml option!
Ebay has some cute even littler 10 ml sprays! adorable. I need to try the Blanche, stat.
I bought the 30 ml bottle. Its very pretty. I wore it a lot for the Christmas holidays, and had a few people ask me what I was wearing.
Happy International Women’s Day! Wearing Chanel Misia EdT. I was craving for violets and iris, and Misia always hits the spot. Beautiful, elegant and it last on me for many hours. Surprising considering the poor longevity of Les Exclusifs.
You smell great!
Thank you 🙂
Chanel Misia is a lovely fragrance for International Women’s Day. Enjoy!
Thank you!
I’ll be a Shalimar spot in the march. Ni Una A Menos, Vivas Nos Queremos! Happy Woman’s Day!
You smell terrific!
Thank you!
Sí se puede en Shalimar!

Thanks, Solanace!
S2
❤️And you smell wonderful.
That SIP scent sounds good, Robin! I love several scents from that house, but haven’t been able to make myself spring for a full bottle yet. L’Invisible keeps calling my name, though…
EL Sensuous for me today. I was up with baby and got about 1.5 hours of sleep so I need a comfort scent.
Oh goodness I remember those nights. Hang in there!
I remember those nights also. I hope tonight is better for you.
Hope you’re having a gentle day! The baby sleep deprivation is so, so hard.
We’re wearing red in the office today for International Women’s Day. So I’ve got flashes of red on my shoes, a red t-shirt under a white shirt with a red floral pattern and all finished off with Paco Rabanne’s Ultrared!
You look great, and smell very good indeed!
Multi-sensory solidarity!
Kudos to you and your office!
Running late in Vol de Nuit.
Running late but smelling smart.
SOTD is Histoires de Parfums L’Olympia Music Hall.
+1 for HDP — I’m in Ambre 114.
Jean Patou Adieu Sagesse vintage Ma Collection!
Excellent!
SOTD is Mona di Orio’s Bohea Bohome which for some reason reminds me of a dirty vodka martini for the first 10 minutes or so when I put it on. Now it’s a smoky, woodsy wonder and I am again looking silly smelling my arm constantly at work. Luckily I have an office to myself so I can catch quick sniffs without being seen. 🙂
You all smell wonderful and I hope you have a wonderful day!
I spend a lot of time in meetings trying to remember that smelling one’s own arms might not be the most professional look. 😉
SOTD: Myrrh & Tonka from split! Sadly my head cold is getting in the way of smelling this beauty and I really hope I didn’t over spray myself today to compensate for lack of a sniffer. This is actually a pretty strong perfume, so unlike most JM scents.
When I over spray, I always just figure I’m blessing others with how wonderful I smell. 😛
I tried getting a sample of this during the weekend. The SA said their tester bottle was empty and offered to mail me a sample when they get a new bottle in! So sweet! Anxiously awaiting…
Unusually nice! I like it a lot.
Just because I wanted to smell this with my new improved sniffer, wearing Wisteria Hysteria again today. And it smells lovely, all flowery in a way that does not make my nose twitch with pre-allergic anticipation, with a spicy underpining that is very pleasant. I like this a lot, even tho it gets a very mixed press. The utter abscence of allergy queues contributes to my fondness for it, I think. In other news, carry on, all you women out there!
Great description. I’ll have to check it out.
I think it’s a terrific perfume, full of character and, like you say, not too sweet.
Since I seem to own nothing that is red (not a good color on me) I am wearing a practically neon orange sweater and Lush Kerbside Violet. Loud and proud on International Women’s Day!
Now you tell me! I hadn’t heard the “wear red” call. Too late now!
I’ve been absent for ages, I’m sorry! Life has been super hectic – I’m starting a new job on Monday (a temporary one with the Estonian EU Presidency, I’m very excited) and the old one was extremely busy until the last moments and beyond. I also had a big event to go to, with bespoke dress and stuff – something I always enjoy, but when you are already totally busy and then need to fly to a different country for a fitting at midnight, it’s somewhat stressful.
But I’m back and wearing Tom Ford Vert de Fleur.
Welcome back!
Thank you!
Yay! Glad to see you back. Hope everything has become a bit more calm for you. Good luck on the new job!
I think it will be calmer for a while and then the next half of the year will be crazy. But that’s OK????!
How is the Vert de Fleur? I’m waiting on a split of that to be shipped.
I like it. It’s not a masterpiece like No 19, but it’s a softer, more sensual alternative that I personally find easier to wear. Polished, classy and with a touch of 70s glamour. (I have a review-like thing on the blog, in case you are interested, but please don’t feel any pressure to be!)
Oooooh, thanks. Will pop over and read.
Yay! Glad you are back. Saw on your instagram how glamorous and gorgeous you looked on the red carpet!
And of course you smell terrific!
Oh, thank you! Glad you liked the dress. Have you tried all four in the TF vert series?
Only Vert Fleur and Vert Boheme(what is available here in Portland, Oregon). Both are VERY lovely; with Vert Boheme being closer to a favorite. I really like chypres and these two hit that button for me. ALAS, the cost is in “Goddamn, Boy” territory for my pay grade! 😀
I think Vert Boheme is very pretty. I didn’t expect to like it at all (not sure why – because of the name, probably), but it was my early favourite. They ARE too expensive, however. 150 dollars? Yes. 225 dollars? No. The only reason I have a bottle is because I had a very generous gift voucher.
Welcome back!! You were missed!
Awwwwww, thank you!
Welcome back and congratulations on the new job!
Thank you! It’s good to be back.
I was just thinking I was missing your posts on NST. A book I read I thought you’d like, and now I cannot remember which one. Happy that it is busy and fulfilling life keeping you away!
Thank you so much! And please let me know when you remember the book.
Congratulations on the new job. It sounds very exciting!
I am pretty excited. It doesn’t say much to anyone not involved in the European politics, but it’s one of the rare occasions when small countries can be close to The Important Stuff. I’ll be one of the three Presidency spokespersons.
I’m pretty excited for you – congratulations!
Thanks!????
Good to see you and best wishes for the new job!
Thank you!
Welcome back! I thought perhaps you were on a fabulous vacation, but sounds like some fascinating changes for you. Congrats and best wishes!
Sadly, no fabulous vacation, but I’m not complaining. And there might even be a vacation coming my way in April! Thank you.
We’ve missed you! Congratulations on the new (and VERY grown-up-sounding) job!
Thank you! And I’m afraid the job is pretty grown-up indeed, but I’m sure I can bring a touch of infantility to it????
Congratulations on the new job! I was just thinking about missing your posts. Glad you’re back!!
It feels good to be back. And thank you for the kind words.
Congrats on your new job. Recently, I had a moment of “where’s Annikky when you needed her” moment!
Dying to know what prompted that moment!
Happy International Womens Day!
Wearing Tom Ford’s Santal Blush today. This is my favorite TF scent. I was just in the mood to wear something different today.
Love this one! Have to pull out my decant and give it a whirl…it’s been a while!
SOTD SSS Ambre Noire- one of the few scents I have with a noticeable booze note. I get wine soaked barrels in the opening. Another one of those “This is so great! Why don’t I wear it more often?” I probably should have saved it for Friday when it’ll be colder, so maybe a repeat performance.
Oooh, I love the smell of used wine barrels! I worked a harvest season at a local winery a few years ago and the wonderful smells still haunt my dreams.
You smell great. I just recently tried that but didn’t notice anything boozy/winey in it. Maybe I’ll try it again tomorrow…
Sampling PG Bois Blond again today after several years. I like it, but it definitely does not smell like hay to me (few “hay” note frags do).
Got word yesterday that the medical waiver West Point requested for my son’s imperfect vision was denied. He is utterly *crushed*. I have mixed feelings, myself.
1) I am crushed for your son. Is there anything that can be done- is LASIK out of the question?
2) I think that the hay scent is actually saffron?
It is out of the question, yes. LASIK surgery is (as I understand it, anyway, because the medical standards document is long and complicated) an automatic disqualification in itself. I knew not passing the eye exam was a possibility, but I thought that he would receive a waiver. There is no appeal process at this point.
I’m sorry to hear that the waiver didn’t work out. Poor kid.
I am sure you have mixed feelings, but I am sorry for your son. 🙁
I am sorry to hear this. Hoping something else wonderful arrives on the scene for your son to help him get over the disappointment.
So sorry for your son, I know this was something he worked very hard for.
I am so sorry about your son. It must be super crushed because he wanted it bad and worked so hard for it. Hope something works out for him.
Ugh. Remember when we had the power to fix everything for our little guys? I totally understand your mixed feelings, but wish your young man’s big disappointment dissipates soon.
Oh no! It is always frustrating when a door that you want to go through is locked, and he is probably too young to realize that there will be other doors that might lead somewhere even better. (I don’t know, maybe none of us ever really understands that in the first moments of frustration.) Take a few days to feed him chocolate ice cream out of the container, and eat some yourself. (Figuratively or literally)
I’m so sorry for your son! My thinking is, if he’s good enough to be considered for West Point, he’ll be great enough for any number of other opportunities that will present themselves soon!
Of course, you can’t tell him that now, but life has a way of working itself out most of the time! HUGS!!!
I’ll just co-sign everything Jada said here. I’m sorry for his disappointment (it stings, I know 🙁 ).
I am so sorry, that is really rough.
Oouf! That’s a real blow, and I’m so sorry about his disappointment.
Oh, my heart sinks in sympathy for your son’s disappointment! I wish him a speedy journey on rebounding.
Ugh, so sad for you and your son. That said, he must be something special because he passed everything except for the one thing he absolutely had no control over!
Taking the booze cruise: I went to bed yesterday wearing Tabac Grande (Sultan Pasha Attars). It has a boozy note (cognac, mmmmm) and longevity is very good. I could still smell it without much of an effort when I woke up this morning.
And check out the Google doodle/slideshow for International Women’s Day. It is cute and uplifiting! 🙂 I love this stuff (contains a kitty as well, if you look closely)
Thanks for mentioning the Google Doodle. I always forget about them and rarely visit the Google homepage, but this one was lovely.
Yeah same here, especially because most of the time I use the address bar as a search bar.
But Google archives all the doodles here:
https://www.google.com/doodles
🙂
SotE: Moon Bloom
Nothing boozy, but I picture myself somewhere warmer and sunnier (sooo fed up with all the rain here), ready to order a cocktail or champagne!
Moon Bloom and chanpagne on a warm night = my idea of heaven!
I read yesterday that Clive Christian “C” has a cognac note, so that’s what I’m wearing. Wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t been told…
Happy International Women’s Day!
1) Am actually working today but am wearing a red scarf and deep red lipstick (L’Oreal Liya Red.) I am also displaying my degrees on my wall cubicle (I NEVER do this- until today!) It’s nice to remind people, especially in this climate, that I had to work very hard to wear this lab coat.
2) SOTD: Cristalle Eau Verte, from a sample. Exactly what was needed today. I can see getting a bottle of this! It’s glorious fresh powdery green. But for everyday, I actually think that Infusion d’Iris absolu works just as well?
Have you seen those red lab coats? Maybe you can’t wear them at your workplace but they look amazing and a little bit scary. Hope you had a good day.
Ha! I have! For a while in the 1990s when I was a kid those red coats had a moment of popularity in the medical field in NYC (my mom was a nurse, so I actually got to see doctors and technicians in those red coats).
But for culturally developed reasons people trust the white lab coat more!
Darn! How did I miss the red lab coats?! I was a nurse in NYC in the 90s.
And practically speaking, you can wash white lab coats with bleach.
Crazy! At Downstate Medical for I think about a year we had doctors swanning about in red lab coats, trying to be a bit outre, I am sure!
And yes, I remember seeing my mom putting in her stuff in the washer with a cup of color safe powder bleach and laundry soda, and then line drying in the sun in summers!
Wild! And my hubs works at SUNY Downstate!
I fell in love with Cristalle Eau Verte last summer, bought a bottle, and wore it a lot. I does have longevity issues, though. Go you for celebrating your accomplishments. I hope the degrees stay up permanently from here on out! 🙂
It really is lovely- fresh and very uplifting. It has settled down into an almost skin scent of green flowery powder. I like it a lot- but I can see that this will be gone by mid afternoon and you will need a top up.
And thank you! I think that we (in the USA) sometimes denigrate pursuit of a higher education for it’s own sake. I am quite proud of my A.B and SciM, and it’s nice for people to actually see that I DO know what I am talking about! 😀
YOU GO, SCIENCE GIRL!
My daughter is about to finish her BS in Chemistry in May… wants to go to grad school but still hasn’t decided on an area of specialization. I’m so proud of the Science Girls (including my aunt, who earned her BS and MS in the early 70s and worked as a chemist through her career).
I second what kpaint said, Ede97005: keep those degrees up and visible! ????
Do the men display their degrees? If not, why would you? Your work should speak for itself and if your co-workers don’t, shame on them! I’ve seen some people list their degrees in their email signature and my initial reaction is ummm wha???
Hey there!
Some people do display their degrees on the wall! I work in a mixed facility with engineers, business people and researchers.
For me, unless you are a Ph.D, putting your letters in an signature is just wrong!
Red blouse, red socks, red lipstick and Tabac Blond. Happy International Women’s Day. Really wish we didn’t need one.
Going to an all-female artist spin class after work – can’t wait to hear Beyonce’s “Girls” and sweat my brains out.
You look great and smell EVEN better! And I wish I could join you at that spin class!
Wearing red and Tabac Blond – what a great combination!
I love the challenge of the Booze Cruise! I thought I could not participate in this challenge but there are some ways to do so that may not come immediately to mind. If you love green florals and have not had occasion to drink or smell a hoppy beer you are all set. The nose of an IPA or even better, an Imperial IPA is nothing less than flowers in a glass. Hops are flowers and the scent they impart to beer can run the gamut from very green florals, like Jacomo Silences to citrus laden perfumes like Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune. Their bitterness on the tongue may not be to your taste but find an opportunity to smell one. Also, Gucci Rush smells like a delicious, tropical cocktail to me and Rose perfumes smell like Zinfandel and Cabernet to my nose. A little good Bourbon behind the ears and a tot in your tea or coffee can be quite pleasing, too.
That’s really good thinking. The citrus-floral scent is one of the things I really enjoy about IPAs, but I never considered “transferring” that to this challenge.
Man, all this talk of hops is making me want a beer. I didn’t like IPAs at first but have acquired a taste for them over time. I still kind of have to be in the right mood for them. I’d also happily take a class on fragrance notes in beer.
Love hops and IPAs! Luca Turin noted that PG Cuir Venenum smells like Belgian beer, but I don’t know enough about beer to know if that would be the hops or something else.
I always figured hops were a grain. So it’s the flowers that are used in beer-making? To impart a floral accord?
Hops give that characteristic ‘bitterness’ and flavor that we associate with beer. They also help preserve the beer- and as a bonus, impart that mild high you get when drinking beer- it’s a euphoric.
Different strains of hops can give different flavors and aromas to beers. I have had some incredible IPAs here in Oregon that were, in the parlance, ‘pretty effing dank”. And there are some that are delicate and sweet, like the Belgian sour referenced.
Great post and discussion; thanks!
Took the booze cruise yesterday with Arquiste 57. I forgot how much I enjoy that one.
Took an actual hysterically fun booze cruise with my husband over 20 years ago. It was quite memorable!
SOTD today is Burburry Brit Rhythm for Her. Needed something bright and this feels perfect today.
I went on one, once, even longer ago than that! It was fun, and then never felt the need to go on another 🙂
Lol…exactly!!
Wearing red kit to go cycling this morning and a “red” perfume, Cartier Délices. Happy IWD to all!
House cousins! Happy IWD!
Sampling Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile today thanks to a generous package from Mayfly.
That one’s lovely. Do you like it so far?
Doing a happy dance right now. I did call Neiman Marcus in Texas today and I am having a bottle of L’Heure de Nuit shipped to my house in Cleveland. They had two bottles left and I ordered one. It was a tough choice between L’Heure de Nuit and Liu, both are discontinued and I could only get one.
SOTD is going to be Amouage Dia.
You made the right choice as according to M. Guerlain on his website he has it straight from Guerlain that Liu is NOT discontinued. Apparently the first announcement was in error. 🙂
That’s why I am more likely going to trust M. Guerlain than makeup alley. But I still wasn’t sure.
Very good morning, NST. I thought I would try a boozy scent with a different vibe, and began to put on DKNY Woman, the slim skyscraper bottle. After one spritz I decided that I don’t want to smell like a vodka and orange even though it offered sparkles
and gleams on this grey rainy day. I want warmth, and I ended up in Black Cashmere, which is slightly enlivened by the tiny cool shimmer of Woman. I’m not convinced that this combination is just exactly a success, but it’s not utterly awful either. I smell like someone, maybe, who pootled into church after having a couple at a bar on the way home: it’s a bit of a surprise on every level.
LOL! I love your description!
You’ll like this one: My 12 yr old came in and told me she’d put on Roses de Chloe that morning, but it had notes of “middle school body funk” later in the day…. HA HA HA HA HA
Jada’s Daughter, Waterdragon, you are just what I need today.
Oof! That is a smell I know all too well. 🙁
“…I smell like someone, maybe, who pootled into church after having a couple at a bar on the way home: ”
What, you have never done that?
What?
Good morning Y’all!
Had such a GOOD perfume day yesterday!! I was downtown with my 15 yr old for an apt, and my schedule was not going to allow me any time to shop and sniff perfumes afterward, so we were bummed. But fate dealt us a nice hand; her doctor was running behind and really sloooooow, so I ended up taking the afternoon off when it became apparent that I would be FOREVER getting clear to the other side of town for work! 🙂
My birthday is Sunday, so self control was pushed aside, and I allowed myself a treat or two. (By the way, that’s important! Every now and then, it’s good to do nice things for yourself!) I was able to go to Sephora and pick up a travel spray of Replica Jazz Club, which is GLORIOUS. Then we headed to Nordstrom to Jo Malone. Bought a small bottle of English Pear & Freesia, which was on our wish list for a while! My DD found a mini size of Philosophy Fresh Cream, which smells fantastic on her skin.
But I gotta tell ya….the scent that I can’t stop thinking about, and regret not getting, is Jo Malone’s Tobacco & Mandarin. I MUST have it. Since I had just bought Jazz Club 10 minutes before, I couldn’t justify another tobacco scent. But I can smell it on my jacket right now, and I’ve gotta have it in my life. I’m ordering it this weekend, and I’m gonna enjoy every drop! 🙂
So much for the “No Buy/Low Buy with Very Limited Exceptions” resolution I made for 2017! That bus flew off the wheels real fast yesterday! LOL
PS: Side note: My daughter was happy to find out that some chronic problems she’s been having since her gallbladder surgery are normal, and she’ll be 100% with a few diet changes and exercise. Our little jaunts downtown are over…so we took advantage yesterday! hee hee
SOTD: Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia on the wrists; Jo Malone Tobacco and Mandarin on my jacket! 🙂
Oh, I’m so glad to hear it! Finding out that your chronic problems are explicable and manageable is such a good feeling.
Jazz Club has been on my test list for a bit, might have to detour to the Sephora after my doctor’s appointment tomorrow and give it a gander.
I was sent a sample of tobacco and mandarin ( on paper) yesterday and I had the exact same response as you.
Hey, Jada, congrats to you on the new fumes. You smell fabulous. I agree with you about treats for birthdays. I greeted a year ending in a zero on my last birthday and went on a small spree to celebrate. It was a buying event (probably) never to be repeated, but oh so wonderful to scratch that perfume itch.
And best wishes to your daughter in her continuing recovery. I had gall bladder surgery a year ago yesterday (wow! a year goes by fast). I am surprised that I continue to have some minor complaints in that department. My doctor assured me that those symptoms will continue to lessen over time (and with good self-care, diet, and exercise). Life is much easier without a wonky gall bladder. 😉
Birthdays that end with a zero definitely deserve to be celebrated! I’ll be 47 this year, and the thought of turning 50 doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, I truly feel like I’m only now beginning to do things that I always wanted to earlier in life. Back then, young children and career took 100% of my energy…Now I can see a time ahead where life MIGHT slow down for a season….. 🙂
Great way to think Jada! I turned 50 this past May, my son got married in June and my daughter moved out of the house in October. My husband and I miss the kids but we have had the chance to do a lot of traveling this past year, and do a lot of stuff with friends 🙂
Can you tell me more about the Replica line? The name makes it sound like they are knock-offs of other perfumes. Yes? No?
Replica is the perfume line of Maison Margiela, and I think they are trying to replicate places, situations, and experiences with the line.
“Jazz Club” smells just like I would imagine a smoky, boozy jazz bar to smell. I absolutely love tobacco notes, so it’s gonna be a favorite.
“By the Fireplace” smells EXACTLY like the description, but it’s way too smoky on my skin. The smoke is so realistic!
Anyway, give ’em a try sometime! “Flower Market” is a really nice one as well…..
Oh! Thank you for teaching me something! I will definitely try them and I will make a list of your recommendations!
Here’s what the packaging looks like….I really LOVE the FB bottles, but always like to try a small size first!

Enjoy your treats! I didn’t do so great with my no-buy attemp either.
And glad your DD is in good health. Always the best gift ????
Happy birthday and will echo tracy.o’s words that reassurance regarding medical issues is a huge relief. Glad your daughter is well.
Seconding all that kpaint said, Jada! (Checking out your youtube videos will be my weekend treat.)
I only smelled that one on paper, will try it on skin this Friday. I did really like Whiskey & Cedar and Leather & Artemisia, although DH did not. LOL. Happy birthday!
I need to do a side-by-side comparison between Jazz Club and Frapin’s Speakeasy. Actually, I need to find my Speakeasy decant, because that is one boozy scent – perfect for this week!
Yeah. Advanced happy birthday! I enjoyedn your You Tube video!
That’s great news for your daughter! Best wishes for her continued improvement/recovery. Your birthday is exempt from the resolution; you can get back to it afterwards! …Also, I wanted to say the other day that I enjoyed your YouTube video–can’t wait for more.
I’m in DS & Durga HYLANDS Spirit of the Glen after FearsMice reminded me I’d been meaning to try my sample of this- and I’m having a totally different experience. I’m getting damp moss, heather, and a tiny bit of bracken all backed by a subtle boozy vanillic accord that grows and fades in prominence over time. Must be a skin chemistry thing!
Your Spirit if the Glenn sounds better than mine. It’s straight-up Jim Beam on me! 😀
I apologize for any misleading statements I may have made, Tracy.o! Your experience does sound different, yes, but not bad (to me, anyway). Did you end up liking the fragrance at all?
The World Economic Forum announced this morning that “the world’s gender gap is on track to close…in 169 years.”
Thank you to everyone who is marching, singing, praying, writing, sharing, and leaning in. Today is for all those women of Appalachia, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Yemen, Zaire, and the world over who don’t have the choice– to participate or not.
In Narciso, because it arrived in the mail the other day, BOTH the edp and edt. Why did it arrive in the mail? Because Robin made me do it. (Okay. Not fair. Apparently I exercised zilch willpower after reading one of her lemming reports. Must read them with greater caution in the future!!)
Sorry to tell you that greater caution won’t work. To tell you the power of Robin’s reviews and reports, I *always* fall for them even knowing that for the most part we are “evil scent twins”! Resistance is futile! 😉
I think you are very mean. (Errr… did you get the Narciso? I can’t remember 😉 )
Sorry. 🙁
No, I didn’t get the Narcisco but not due to willpower, only budget right now!
I’ve got the edp & edt if you haven’t tried them yet.
At least that particular lemming report did not cause too much financial damage. Could we have lived without the Narciso set? Yes, but why should we?
And I AM enjoying it!
That is really something to reflect on, Oakland Fresca, thanks!
Ditto (assuming you were talking about part A of the post)!
Yes, the 169 years. Yikes!
Hear hear!
Just yes.
1) “The World Economic Forum announced this morning that “the world’s gender gap is on track to close…in 169 years.”
There are discussions to be had about labor, who does labor and how labor should be priced- which was oddly part of my thesis in grad school.
2) Robin has a powerfully persuasive voice, no? She really believes in the art, beauty and marketing of scent, that most of ephemeral of senses. Read with caution.
Ah, BUT, what you should be noting is that I saved you $25! (ha ha, I know)
And 169 years, sounds like a crazy long time, but it would not surprise me in the least if you told me 250, or never. And really, I’m not a pessimistic person in general.
Half of free is still free.
Exactly!
I read the news about that 169-year figure this morning. ????
Wearing Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil today, finishing off the sample as my fb arrived last night. 🙂 I guess it’s that polished French style but I can’t really distinguish individual notes. It’s a crisp, slightly sweet, sappy green that brings to mind the sweet gum trees planted around the playground of elementary school. Great staying power and low silage, so it works well around others( i.e. Car rides with the husband). 🙂 and judging by the few unseasonably warm days we have had it will be perfect for muggy summer heat. Funny enough, I’ve been reading a Jane Lindskold book The Buried Pyramid, the sample has been great accompaniment to this old school Egyptology adventure, lol serendipity! Hope everyone has a great day.
You smell great! I haven’t met a Jardin I didn’t like and you’re right, they work well in the summer heat.
I liked the idea of wearing something loud for International Women’s Day, and I wanted to wear something created by a woman. However, I discovered that most of my loud scents were created by men – not sure if that’s just a reflection of my taste or Something Deeper. Wound up in Sophia Grojsman’s Calyx – I’m enjoying it on this fine spring day.
Calyx sounds perfect!
I didn’t enjoy it over the winter – I think spring might be its season . . .
I’ve never tried that one. Next time I’m at the department store, I’ll have to try it.
It was my high school favorite – I ordered a decant last fall to see what I thought these many years later. It’s def worth a sniff, esp. for anyone who likes green scents.
Finding the right season for a perfume is always key. I think I used to like it in summer, too.
Many of Sophia Grojsman’s scents definitely fall into the ‘wear it loud and proud’ category. Interesting observation about your women’s vs men’s scents. Must contemplate.
I really want to try the original Paris. And I loved Exclamation in junior high!
I was just thinking of Paris, as being a beautiful, romantic, girly-girl sort of fragrance that is also big and bold. I love SG’s style.
We’re hitting the southward road for a smallish vacation to my beloved Central Coast! I’m in Beige, thanks to the split meet, and in honor of the beautiful spring weather that I’ll largely be looking at out of the car window.
Enjoy your trip! Looking out of car windows is an underrated activity.
Hope it is a great trip!
Scents of the Day = Vanille Galante for now and Iris Ukiyoe for later.
It is cold this morning and will be 85 degrees this afternoon. What to do? Hermessence the heck out of the day, that’s what. Also, chocolate. Lots of chocolate.
Yes, chocolate the heck out of the day too. 🙂
You smell great…I wore Vanille Galante last week and enjoyed it. I have to get back to the Hermessences in general too.
#chocolatevanillasolidarity 🙂
Hermessence and chocolate sounds like a combination that would be hard to beat!????
PSA for the day: I emailed Hermes (yes, I got sick of checking the site daily) and the Blueu will be released April 1st. I was impressed that their customer service emailed me back within 2 hours!
Wonderful! That’s great news about Bleue.
Cartier La Panthère (ahem!) and bright red today. Striking isn’t feasible for me (my Wednesday labor is invisible anyway, ah the life of a grad student!) so I’m being supportive in other ways.
A red panther – what a great image!
It’s not quite the handsomest animal (per Jack Donaghy, that’s the silver panther – an important distinction) but I wouldn’t want to get in its way.
SOTD: Bois d’Armenie by one of my favorite female perfumers, Annick Menardo. Happy day, all! 🙂
I love Bois d’Armenie, one of my favorites too, you smell great.
Happy International Women’s Day to everyone up there and happy Thursday to the rest of us . I am a day behind Robin in. All Good Things which is nice and toasty, a perfect choice for the day. We have had a week of clear blue skies, no wind and heavy morning dew and everything smells like autumn! I was walking through the cemetry yesterday and the sun on the damp leaves…the oaks….jeepers there must have been a lot of smiling skeletons basking in that scent. Are there any oak or acorn perfumes? It was mulchy and nutty and rich. And the view of the harbour from the cemetry…sparkly blue water, with a surf beach in the distance. Walk proud everyone!
You make autumn sound wonderful. It’s decidedly early spring where I am (plenty of daffodils and other blooms, but the thunderstorms aren’t dangerous yet) and I’d happily trade our awful Bradford pears for damp oak leaves.
Oak — Chene! Which is also boozy.
And something else too, which I can’t think of right now.
the something else is magic 😉
Yeah, that too.
Happy International Women’s Day! I’m wearing a shirt with shades of red in it, and I’m wearing Samarinda by Providence Perfume Co, since it a) is gorgeous, b) has a rum note and fits the theme of the week and c) is made by a female perfumer and from a woman-owned indie brand.
What a thoughtful pick!
Nice!
Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes yesterday. ????
I am in French Kiss from Clarissa’s Splitmeet and enjoying it again.
“Lying is done with words, and also with silence.”
― Adrienne Rich
Happy Women’s Day!
Happy belated birthday
No booze today for me, and I didn’t get the red memo either, so I’m wearing purple and Dior Oud Ispahan. I smell good, anyway.
It wasn’t very well publicized. I only got an email about it last night spelling out the specifics, and I’m on every email list imaginable.
I’m amazed at the price of yorur perfume today Robin. It makes,me happy that I don’t usually like boozy scents.
SOTD = Rahele. I am loving it todsy. I couldn’t smell it much the first time I wore it. Today is warmer and it is blooming beautifully.
You smell phenomenal! I love Rahele!
I was inspired to check out the cost of the wine that inspired it. The wine still costs less. Too bad it doesn’t wear as well!
That’s a crazy price! She does a lot of her own distilling, so I don’t see it as price gouging like some brands, but still. No way.
Sadly I can’t remember the last sunny day we had here in Portland, it must have been a while ago. I am trying to urge spring on by wearing Chypre Mousse, the greenest, springiest thing I own.
Hiking in the drizzle this afternoon with PDX Women in Tech to support International Women’s Day.
????????????????
Nice! I love Chypre Mousse 😉
Heading for the Day Without Women rally at Department of Justice in downtown DC later today. Haven’t decided on a perfume yet. Maybe something from one of my favorite woman-owned or led niche lines, like Aftelier, Sonoma Scent Studio, or April Aromatics. I have one SIP, Magazine Street, that I got on sale when they change packaging a few years ago; will give it a sniff but I remember it as more of a fall fragrance.
A nice perk of today was thinking about all the women noses there are.
Yes, and also reflecting on famous companies like Chanel and Estee Lauder that were founded by women.
Which perfume did you decide on? (Curious feminists want to know!)
I didn’t wear anything to the rally, because I was going to be out in the sun. When I got home, I was welcomed by splits from Hajusuuri including April Aromatics Erdenstern, so that’s what I went with. 🙂
Thanks! It was a good rally. At one point a series of women related extremely briefly the lives of diverse women who played key roles in reforms or saving the disadvantaged, such as Sojouner Truth and women who were key in establishing unions or gaining labor protections. At the end of each they said, “Say her name!” and we all did. It was very moving. A reminder that we stand on the shoulders of women who fought and often sacrificed everything, and it’s our turn to move women forward.
Thanks for sharing. You made me tear up a bit.
????????????????
Good for you!!!
Threads! My thanks to Creosote and Lovetosmellgood came out in the wrong place. See above.
Happy International Women’s Day, especially to those ladies who have red hair 😉
SotD is Hiram Green Arbole Arbole, just drained the sample as I’m waiting for full bottle to arrive
Thanks for the ginger shout-out!
Second this (although over the years Mother Nature has turned it an interesting platinum color – not silver, not gray, but a very light platinum blond).
SOTD on this International Women’s Day and Day Without A Woman is Rochas Femme. (I will try to top it up later with something created by a female nose.) …For someone who loves the color red, it turns out that I have a shocking lack of red clothing for spring weather. ????
Have an excellent day, all you NSTers!
I don’t think they make much red clothing for spring!
You smell great – your presence and absence will certainly be felt!
I have red several sweaters for winter and t-shirts for summer, but my one red shirt for fall or spring is in the hamper. ???? My presence/absence doesn’t really register, but I hope my not spending money today made even a tiny impact.
You smell wonderful!
Thanks! I definitely need a FB.
Excellent choice!
Thanks! It’s like strength-in-a-bottle.
You smell beautiful Creosote!
Thank you! ????
Was gonna wear something boozy but got sidetracked with Iris Silver Mist. Why am I not wearing it more often? (rhetorical question) – I love love love it.
I actually get a boozy vibe from the first minutes of ISM. 🙂
Almost vodka-like.
It is easy to get side-tracked with ISM.
Miller Harris la Fumee, I think from before there were many kinds of la fumee? It’s a swapped decant, and fancy-incense and not really boozy, but it stopped rain-slushing, so.
I like that one.
me too!
Happy International Women’s Day to all the wonderful women out there. May you all have a wonderful day!
Today I am wearing Vent Vert in anticipation of Spring. Clean, green and fresh. How I wish for the original dynamic formula – sigh.
My SOTD yesterday was Iris by Fragonard which was their scent for 2016. Their scent for 2017 is Peony. Fragonard is a very prolific house in Grasse, France. It is a little difficult to get in North America but they make lovely scents with good sillage.
I have heard so much about Hiram Green Arbole Arbole. I love strong green scents. I must try it.
I am so busy today no SOTD
Like I said above I wanted to do a strike today. Talked to my “bosses” Crazy Monkey and Chubby Buddha.
The Monkey through herself down the the ground in a temper crying tantrum
The other proceeded to chase the cat under his crib.
For the cat’s sake I decided it was not possible 😉
The struggle is real my dear women! Happy Women’s Day
Your post reminded me that Man Repeller ran an interesting essay about a stay at home mom’s reaction to the strike, and how she was navigating that. If you’re too busy today for perfume, I’m sure you are too busy to read it! But it may be worth seeking out on another day.
Hope things calm down. Maybe management will listen to reason and take a nap.
Ah I would like to read it but I couldn’t find it on the website. Is is possible to post the link or the essay name?
Definitely! Sorry for not linking earlier, I always forget one can link here without getting flagged as spam: http://www.manrepeller.com/2017/03/womens-strike-participation.html
Hope you and the cat can keep each other sane through the little ones’ toddlerhood!
Ha!!!! Crazy Monkey and Chubby Buddha lol
Boozing again in Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling. It started off promising with sparkling aromatic and herbaceous top notes, but it settled on my skin really quickly. And within an hour I could barely smell anything. Luckily, I brought the sample with me to work so I can reapply.
I was disappointed in that one — fizzles right out.
Sounds perfect for a scent-free office!
Yes, which technically I work in! Though it isn’t enforced and there are some smokers who cover up after their smoke breaks with copious amounts of body spray, I try to be discreet and respectful with the perfumes I select and how many sprays I use.
Also, I never reapplied JS, which worked out well because I came home to my splitmeet package from you! So I’m going to spend the evening trying new things.
Soaked in Azureé today.
Happy International Woman’s day!
Peace be with you and yours.
peace to you!
You smell great!
I overslept and had to rush around to make it on time this morning so I forgot to wear red. I have been on an iris kick this week and today I wore Naomi Goodsir’s Iris Cendre.
Wearing Une Rose to go with the only touches of red I own: lipstick and scarf!
Late to the Booze Cruise today.
SOTD = Nirvana Bourbon
It’s boozy, not overly sweet and the woody vanilla, almost tonka-like, was quite pronounced, so much so that I thought someone wearing another perfume just left the scene. I did not detect any tuberose at all!
I bought a rollerball and emptied it to an atomizer. It’s serviceable
Longevity –not much. 5 sorays equals barely 5 hours.
Twins!!! I don’t get tuberose from Nirvana Bourbon, either, and I figured I could safely wear it for meetings at work today. Maybe it comes across as boozier than I thought, though. Did people suspect I’d had a liquid lunch?…
This is the exact reason why I would not wear SDV on a weekday!
NB, with its price point, is such a welcome option! You smell great!
You smell great! I enjoy that one. I had a sample and I liked a lot. And as Creoste said, the peicepont is pretty great!
*price point
Man, I am very late today! I don’t know why – my ‘accomplishments’ of the day have been limited to a dentist appointment, a haircut, sorting out the wording of a contract and doing a 30-minute online course. (It’s not nothing, but it’s not 9 hours’ worth either!)
SOTD has been Etat Libre d’Orange “Vraie Blonde”.
Notes: Aldehyde, liqueur brandy of champagne, rose, peach, white pepper, myrrh, patchouli.
This is very civilised (especially by ELdO standards!) – a tasteful Bellini up front, perhaps, with patchouli at the extreme dry-down. And a blast of white pepper in the middle.
If this were a cruise, it would be a vintage motor launch running a select, well-dressed party through the canals of Venice.
Now that’s a cruise I’d like to be invited to! 😉
