Friday always arrives eventually! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance by Comme des Garçons, if you have one.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Comme des Garçons Ouarzazate. If you just don't have time for a five minute meditation, it's the next best thing.
Reminder: 3/3 will be Let Your Freak Frag Fly Friday — wear your oddest fragrance. Suggested by Monkeytoe.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Wood, wood and wood with a side order of wood, on a wooden plate, on a wooden table with wooden cutlery. In a wood.
Comme des Garçons Wonderwood.
It’s a bit woody.
I love Wonderwood! You smell great 🙂
It is good. And such an easy wear.
Woody!
And I found it very warm and nice to wear!
There is something cosy about it isn’t there?
My dad likes to wear it, which I find delightful.
Twins! This is the only CdG I own. I like Wonderoud too, just haven’t felt the need to buy it (yet).
I have a sample of Wonderoud somewhere that I’ll have to dig out at some point. I remember liking it too.
Me too!
This was a sample that’s been languishing in my maybe pile and I am kinda loving it today.
Triplets! Such woody goodness 🙂
But is it woody? 😉
I cannot think of another brand that has so much woody fragrances in their collection.
The world smells a bit more woody (and incense-y) today!
Oh erhm ‘so many’ (?)
Not my first language, sorry…
In CdG Kyoto. Smelling good and feeling in peace!. Happy Friday everyone!
Gorgeous. I bought my best friend a bottle of Kyoto for Christmas, and when she wears it (which is often), I want to follow her around and sit close so I can sniff it. You smell great!
Thanks!
In Kyoto today, too. Hoping it’ll keep me calm and focused today.
It will, for sure 🙂
Twins! Or triplets, rather!
By the way, I have some actual incense (the kind you burn) from Comme des Garcons and it smells amazing.
Wow! It must be very beautiful!
It was a gift from V at BdJ, who gives the best scented gifts.
Mmm..love this one! I pulled out my sample of Kyoto to wear today also. I like all the CdeG incense series, but I think this may be my favorite. I waver between Kyoto and Zagorsk.
I’m in Kyoto today too – I thought it would be popular today!
I wish I were wearing this today! Never got around to buying it, and can’t find my sample. I find this one to be very meditative, too.
Happy Friday!
I was planning to participate in the community project, but when I woke up, I just didn’t feel like digging up my sample of Avignon. It’s the only CdG I have, and it’s not a love. I wanted love, so I went with Cuir de Lancome. Sigh. So pretty.
I wore Cuir de Lancome last night. One of my favorites leather fragrances. You smell amazing!
It was my first leather love, and it’s one of my favorites, too.
And thank you. ????
Sometimes you just want love.
Cuir de Lancome is awesome. I’m about to kill bottle #1… glad there’s a backup!
So true (the love thing). So smart (the backup bottle thing).
Great choice!
Cuir de Lancome is love, and I wish I had a back up bottle!
You smell gorgeous.
I have a bunch of samples but the only CdG that’s even fallen into the must-own-or-else category is Carnation, for me the ultimate carnation scent (and I have a lot of them) — fangs bared, claws unsheathed, and on the attack. It may be bolstered by cloves and sweetened by roses but it’s still a big, aggressive carnation and it’s wonderful.
I’m sure you smell grand! I just wish CdG Carnation was the snarling, spitting attack scent on me that she is on you, Pyramus! Either I lose my ability to smell it in about 5 minutes after applying, or my skin eats it, or something…
It’s not a well-known scent but it’s really polarizing! Some people think it’s too tame and sweet, others think it’s too clovey and not realistic. It certainly calms down after a while, but on my skin I get an hour or more of snarling beast and I love it.
This disappears on me too! 4 sprays = 30 minutes, 8 sprays = 5 hours, barely.
We’ll have to mourn together over its disappearance. Alas, it starts out so, so promising…
You smell fantastic.
I may have bad dreams about carnations tonight thanks to your description. Yikes!
Carnation scents are either Big Love or soapy, bitter disasters. Unfortunately for me, the CdG was a disaster on my skin, as terrific as it was on paper, and I bet it’s great on you too.
This is one I really need to try. Carnation is a flower scent I do love but not many perfumes capture it well.
Yum. And yes, there is something to be said for carnations scents (so old school) and CdG really goes to school with that one!
Oh, straight onto the must-try list! I love me some serious carnation.
Twins!
SoTD: CdG Monocle Scent One Hinoki!
Its one of the few perfumes in my collection my husband sometimes ‘steals’ 🙂
Lucky you, you smell great!
Twins!
Triplets.
Yay, but I think avignon or kyoto ‘win’ today.
I like them too, but if I had to choose from that series, Zagorsk it is!
Its somewhat cold and a bit austere, and most of the time I prefer incense somewhat warmer and sweeter. But Zagorsk has a calming effect on me.
Love this one!
I like your avatar!
Thanks!
Twins! Love the woody incense of this one, not to mention the glorious turpentine opening.
I don’t have anything from this house so I decided to write a Haiku (I almost had one yesterday) and I know I don’t get points
Chai Tea Steel Cut Oats
Spring temps in New York City
wearing sous le vent
Have a great weekend. Everyone smells lovely
nice
Oh, I’d say a free haiku always gets points!!
Delightful!
Thumbs up ????
Excellent!
thank you 🙂
Sounds like a lovely morning!
Well done! ????
Nice one!
I’m in Grace by CdG. I have a sample and am contemplating getting a bottle ( partly because I love the cat head on it)
The scent is so pretty, a pale pink rose with green leafs and thornes.
I wish they’d do that one in a candle with a cat head cover! I would buy one.
What a great idea!
That would be fantastic!
Scent twin! I do love this and the bottle is very cute. It even come in a little bag with cartoon cat prints on it. Adorable! This, to me, is such a great spring scent – sweet, with that hint of minty light green.
I agree. The light greenery is very good. So pretty!
Channeling my 20 year old, gay disco hopping self by doing my cardiovascular workout to Jackie Moore- This Time Baby! !! on repeat. Memories light the corners of my mind………
LOL. 😉
CDG Daphne, the buttery green tuberose of Carnal Flower married to saffron and frankincense.
Love it! Not for everyone, but diversity is a GOOD thing.
Why does my PITA hair look its best just BEFORE I go to the barber? ???
Primavera weather here.
🙂
Triple strength coffee, can you tell?
Carpe Diem. Peace.
I have never tried Daphne, but your description is making me to get a sample right away.
Ditto this!
It is absolutely not for everyone, and diversity is an excellent good thing! I might join you in the coffee today 🙂
Scent twins!
Daphne definitely takes you on a wild ride, one that could go in a number of different directions.. For me it’s not a disco but an elegant party at Dar Bellarj, the art center in Marrakech. I feel as if I should be wearing red lipstick, a silk shirt, and very expensive shoes. For me, this one needs a very dry climate. With any atmospheric encouragement, it could easily get out of hand.
It’s full of scents I associate with North Africa, bitter orange, jasmine, saffron, incense, oud, but it’s the glowing tuberose that shines through. It’s intoxicating enough that triple strength coffee is a great idea for sobering up.
Nice description Kathryn.
Elegance is a cashmere sweater to me, great on other people.
But too itchy for me to wear.
😀
I like your description, too.
We all filter sensations though our individual matrix of experiences, taking us to different places. “Diversity in opinion of a work of art shows that the work is new, complex and vital,” said Oscar Wilde, a lover of flowers who probably would have approved of Daphne.
On the basis of this description I really want to test this one now..
Daphne is unique and arresting.
Oh, I never smell that one, but it does sound VERY intriguing indeed!
And yes- I need a couple of weeks to settle into my haircuts!
yes..we can all tell (triple strength coffee)
Tuberose and incense?! Oh I need to this!
I remember a pic of the bottle, it really stands out from the other CdGs.
Daphne sounds lovely Bear- how does it compare to Nuit de Tuberose?
Thanks Everyone !!!
Hello mayfly!
NdT is not spicy at all on my skin. Daphne dries down to tuberose and wood (internet says oudh, it does not smell of oudh on my skin) after the saffron and frankincense fade.
I have both, but I like tuberose even though it is a ‘difficult’ note to wear unobtrusively.
But I am anything but unobtrusive. 😉 LOL
Hey Bear. Hijacking your comment to mention that I came across an organic perfume called Rose Noir while perusing the beautyhabit website!
LOL!
I suppose there had to be an actual perfume named Rose Noir.
Now your mission is to locate Coffret !!
😉
Cheers, hajusuuri!
I have no cog. Maybe try to find that wood one to sniff somewhere. Predictable Chanel 5 premiere
I really think spellcheck is possessed- changes things I do not want changed and is unhelpful the rest of the time
Never mind spellcheck — you smell great!
but….but…That’s an awesome first sentence!
Spell-check is indeed frustrating at time, but I’m certain I would never send a coherent text without it’s ‘help’!
The original Comme des Garçons. I thought I really enjoyed it, but it doesn’t seem to work for me today. Never mind, I can always add something else.
Sorry!
Scent twin!
I only have one CdG, a decant of Grace by Grace Coddington. I think after the many fragrances described this week by NSTERS that it’s time for me to start sampling the brand.
I was thinking the same thing. There’s so much love for CdG here, and I have sampled so few. I gotta get on it!
I waffled between Kyoto and Zagorsk, but suddenly reached for my bottle of CdG Wood Coffee. I have hoarded this long discontinued fragrance like crazy, but allowed myself two big spritzes, and am now basking in its warm, coffee-cardamom-ginger-licorice woodsy glow.
I have moved away from most gourmands in the last few years, but this one still does it for me. I always found it the least sweet of Series 7 Sweet line, and never quite understood why CdG discontinued the series. Gourmands always seem to have an audience, and Wood Coffee is utterly unisex and very wearable. I’m glad to still have a little bit left to enjoy.
Oooh, that sounds amazing!
It does sound amazing!
Yum!
Those did fizzle right out. I think it’s true that gourmands always have an audience, but maybe not in the places where CdG sells perfume? At the time, I thought it was an odd choice for them.
But WISH they would do another series. It’s been years!
Wood Coffee sounds like a dream.
I have Wood Coffee too and it’s great. You smell wonderful.
I had a dream last night that I had done something bad and had to wear Avignon as some kind of Catholic ritual penance. So, Avignon it is!
????
LOL!
Hahaha! That’s an awesome “punishment”.
funny!
Twins! Well, multiples – I think there are many in Avignon today.
Oh, that’s the sweetest punishment. Way too easy 🙂
Now that’s a punishment that I can get behind. It’s sort of like “Go sit on the comfy couch and eat this chocolate while you think about what you’ve done.”☺
😀
????
Martin Luther would call that “cheap grace”.
I’m traveling and don’t have any CdG with me, so I’ll be wearing Do Son today. Have a great day everybody!
You smell lovely!
Wreathed in CdG Leaves : Lily today
Apparently, it has been discontinued, which is a shame as this is quite a nice floral on me.
Auditors have gone, and I am doing absolutely nothing this weekend but a few loads of laundry and cuddling with the doggies.
This has been a horrid week, and I really need the down time
That’s a very pretty one.
Have a great, refreshing weekend! Working with auditors is always a bit bracing, if they are any good. :^)
Still no cdg – my spring green of the day is VP Mito VdE. I really love this line and wish I could afford all versions of all the scents (although I admit that Onda edp is challenging).
Have you tried Rozy? The EDP is one of my desert island scents
Yes I have. I like all the various Rozy’s but ended up with the VdE. It’s definitely in my top 10.
I’m in Parfumerie Generale Cuir d’Iris today, partly because I LOVE it and partly because the bottle is similar in design to the CdG Monocle series bottles – that’s as close as I’m gonna get to today’s theme, I’m afraid. But Sugi did capture my heart yesterday, and a FB is on its way to me now!
Ooh, I just dabbed on my sample of Sugi and am loving much more than I did when I first tested it.
Another convert for Robin’s enabler tiara! 🙂
SOTD is CdG Blue Cedrat. It is a high-tech citrus fragrance. Artistically artificial. Lemon and juniper mixed with metallic notes. Later it gets warmer and spicier, but the metallic notes remain.
Interesting.
Ha, scent twin, but not opinion-about-the-scent twin! :^D
I can’t find my CdG Stephen Jones! And my Zagorsk decant has gone walkabout as well.
So it’s Avignon today.
Me too!
Whoa is me! Not a single CdG in my collection…I will remedy this with some samples soon!
Did a last minute/walking out the door/we’re gonna be LATE grab….so SOTD is See by Chloe. Luck of the draw, but I’m enjoying it today….
Enjoy your weekend everyone! We’re taking the kids one last time to the Ringling Bros Circus tonight. Sorry to hear the circus is closing down for good….
Boo-hoo.. sad to see Ringling Bros go.
I remember them!
Everything comes to an end..evenutally
It really is sad to see it go, so enjoy it tonight!
CdG gets no love from me. I was thinking about it this week – why I haven’t even tried any of their offerings – and I think it really comes down to the packaging which I just find so unappealing. Especially those tall black spray can bottles. I know they have some real winners so I need to push through and give them a shot at some point. Sorry CdG.
SOTD: Wit
So very happy we’ve reached Friday!
I am not a fan of those spray bottles either!
One bottle I do like: Dot
🙂
I think hating the packaging is a perfectly valid reason to not like a scent. I would never so much as touch one of the Anna Sui Dolly Girl bottles, even if the contents were the greatest perfume in human history.
Agree, and if you hate the bottles, why even go there? A good excuse for money saved, IMO.
Agreed!
Heh, I find their pebble bottles annoying. Bottles should stand up, not flop about like lazy teenagers.
Ha! I also find bottles that don’t stand annoying.
Yes, I was so excited about Dot, then bitterly disappointed that it didn’t stand up. Feh.
????
Ugly bottle = time for a decant.
Yes, its great when you can save money on a decant and not be sad about missing out on the bottle!
I’m in Avignon today as well. It’s the only CdG I have and incidentally, the only incense scent I have as well. Just received it from the split meet. I’m loving it so far though…I keep taking big, deep breaths of it in. 🙂 Happy Friday, everyone!
Happy Friday
Wearing Habit Rouge today reminded myself to ask you: As a lover of Shalimar, have you ever tried HR (the ‘masculine’-but-really-unisex Shalimar)? If not, do give the EDT a sniff!
I have not but it certainly sounds like I need to! Thanks for the recommendation!
Hey KellyC! You got an enabler’s pin from me! I read your Online Shopping comment and decided to go shopping!
I’m in OOOZZZZZZTTTT. Oh bother. How to spell it? Bottle says Ouarzazate. Sorry to the nation of Morocco. Ouarzazate does not role off my tongue, but I do love this frag.
Hey twin!
Time to reapply… how’s yours lasting?
Oh, I wore it in the morning and then showered in the early afternoon and put on something else!
Such an intriguingly named fragrance, one of a handful of scents I am tempted to buy for the name alone. Ouarzazate. The word itself has an interesting look.
Digging through samples, found a few drops of Zagorsk that I thought I’d finished. Liking a lot.
Drinking coffee made with cinnamon & cardamom this morning and very pleased with this experiment. Figured that since I like coffee with cinnamon and coffee with cardamom, why not both?
Why NOT both?
I had cardamom and cinnamon but in my chai tea
Hi, scent twin! I’m enjoying it too.
I also like “chai” coffee. I’ve also added nutmeg and a smidge of ginger. Delish!
More Avignon today. My decant has a couple of wears left in it – I think I’m going to save it for hot summer weather and see what I think then.
I am oh-so-close to blind buying a bottle of CdG Rhubarb. Someone mentioned it yesterday, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since . . .
I’d like to have a bottle of that one too. (Plus, it’s a darned cute bottle.)
I’m wearing my only CdG and one that really doesn’t represent their oddity at all: LUXE Champaca. They really want you to know that they have a LUXE collection of 2 scents with those caps. Nevertheless, I love this white, or more yellow, floral. It’s bright, but also deep and warm. One of my favorite white florals.
enjoy the warm weather..you smell fab
Thanks! It is beautiful out. Hope you’re enjoying the day, too.
Am I understanding it correctly that they are selling now Champaca only in a cheaper EDT version?
Hello and Happy Friday! No CdG for me. The only one I’ve tried is Carnation, and I drained that sample. I’m wearing SSS Champagne de Bois today and wishing I was outdoors instead of in the office… it feels like a spring day and I’m ready for the weekend.
LOVE Champagne de Bois – you smell mahvellous!
Welcome back, minteacup!
I haven’t yet found a CdG to love. So I’m in a Prada, a line I do love: Infusion d’Iris absolue.
Have a great weekend!
And you smell great!
I’m in Luxe: Patchouli. I have a lot of CDG scents. I haven’t worn this one in a bit. It’s a very nice patchouli.
Good stuff! I have that in the weird pyramid accordion bottle.
As much as I love incense, you’d think I’d have at least one CdG incense, but nope, none of them have clicked with me. SOTD is CdG Wonderwood, the only CdG I own.
Day 4 without power. Next series of storms is due tomorrow… might even snow. Maaaaaaaaaan, this is getting old. Can we be done with this winter already?
Bummer. It’s not a big deal if you are set up for it, but even with backup generators, etc, no power in the winter just makes everything more difficult and tome consuming. Hope you get it back soon!
Yeah. Power outages aren’t that uncommon here, so we have a big generator (12kW) and a whole-house transfer switch, but it’s sucking down propane at a good clip. We’ve got enough propane for another week, but… ugh.
My Indian co-workers find it hilarious that I’ve got the same generator setup as their parents in India. Here on the edge of Silicon Valley.
sending you some sun
Silver-lining for the freezing temps outside: My skinny wily old black cat (my husband recently described him as “having a personality disorder”) has hunkered down at my feet next to the heating vent–unheard of social behavior!
Ha! One of our previous kitties used to meatloaf herself on top of the (one) heat vent in our bedroom. We’d wake up freezing, wondering if the furnace was busted, only to find out it was a cat issue.
Naughty!
But would she then slowly radiate the heat into the room, like a fine soapstone stove?
No, somehow she just absorbed all of it into her superior kitty self. She was The Queen Of The Universe, after all.
“A cat issue!” So true. So true. In so many situations. I see a whole range of social and political disorders that could be described as such–more or less a cat absorbing all the heat into her(his?) superior self….
Oh, pixel, I hope the next storm system isn’t too bad and you get your power back soon!
Ugh, been there — very sorry, and hope the lights go on soon!
CdG + Stephen Jones Wisteria Hysteria. Smells very nice on me, but it conks out after a while, at which point I added a rollerball dab of D&G the One, just because it was in my drawer here at work. This seems to have reactivated the Wisteria, and smells very nice indeed now. Who knew?
Sometimes layering fragrances seem to ‘boost’ the power of the first one? Sometimes, for example, I will layer on Lust on top of Chanel Eau Premiere and it gives the EP a big oomph!
Sigh. I love that bottle… but never worked up a lather for the frag. If it came in a mini I’d be all over it… so happy with my mini of Miu Miu and I’d put Wisteria Hysteria into the same category.
Ha ha, I’m wearing CdG LUXE Patchouli (Elisa above is right about the all-caps!) and simply worshiping at the feet of this divine fragrance. It’s definitely not for everyone or not for every day, but it’s a masterpiece of dark sweet maple-y woody patchouli. In a stand-off against my other much-loved patchouli faves–Borneo, Coromandel, and Patchouli Nosy Be–this very well might be the winner. I can’t believe no one else has mentioned it yet. To me it’s the best scent of the whole line!
I like that one, too, although not more than Borneo.
My husband totally loves that one, and I am waiting to see it on eBay to get it for him (but have been waiting for several years now with no success … in the meanwhile, I found Champaca EDP for myself LOL)
Happy Friday!
1) OMG, you guys, people brought in Friday donuts- in Mardi Gras colors! 😀
2) SOTD: Story time: So about 10 years ago (holy cow) a new magazine came out- devoted to urban living and aesthetics, making no apologies for loving food, film, the fine arts and music. Although the usual suspects were advertised in the magazine (luxury cars, watches, frelling expensive coats) it was not overly emphasized. Being on the tail end of my twenties, it was a different sort of dream catalog, that did not scream about the latest celebrities, skin tight clothing and 10 ways to lose 10 pounds in 10 days.
That magazine is Monocle*, and they sell their own branded merchandise, including Monocle x CdG Hinoki and Laurel scents. Today, I am wearing Laurel over showering with Laurel soap. What you get a clean, lemony-herbal yet spicy scent. You get a warm woody drydown (because of course this is CdG) The soap is beautiful and perfect to use with a Salux washcloth.
3) My co-worker got married last night at the courthouse! How exciting! 😀
*I am well aware, more than most, that Monocle has severe editorial weaknesses, and that certain class issues do come into play.
Ah! Thank you for the enlightenment, I’m wearing a drop of Hinoki from a small sample and had no idea where the ‘Monocle’ came from.
Here is a link directly to Monocle magazine’s online shop. They also have stand alone shops as well:
https://monocle.com/shop/
Congrats on the Mardi Gras donuts and to your co-worker!
Love that one — you smell great!
Also in Carnation, which is oddly acting up today.
Twins!
I have no CdG; must remedy that situation.
I received my first STC sample shipment yesterday. I’m so excited! The bulk of it is Serge and Zoologist. thought I’d hit an old and a new house.
SOTD = Mandarine Mandarin. Not sure a this one. Really fresh at first, almost headachy, but an hour later, it’s quite nice. I only applied a few drops. Wow!
Oh, zoologist is such a treat! Bat and Civet are phenomenal, but every one I’ve tried has been fascinating to experience. Have fun!
I forgot to order Bat! Thank you for the reminder. It received some sort of fragrance award. Oh well, I’ll put it on the list for next time. ????
I am sad because I dropped my sample vial of Bat from the set onto the tile floor in my bathroom and it smashed to smithereens. Boo-Hoo! I was thinking to myself, “Why couldn’t it have been a different one?” Made my bathroom smell nice for a few days, at least!
I love the Zoologist line and own three of them (Civet, Hummingbird and Nightingale).
Those are the ones that interest me, just on the basis of the names!
I keep thinking about sending one of their sample sets to my sister, a Canadian Zoologist, because it’s too perfect. But she doesn’t generally wear perfume so it might not be such a thrill for her as it would be for me.
Actually, that sounds like a very thoughtful gift! You never know, she might just fall in love with one of them.
Also she would be sure to love those illustrations!
Wearing Jaisalmer. I have the little luckyscent samples of the incense series so I figured I’d give this one a try. It’s perfect because I’m going to yoga later this morning.
You smell fab! I think that one’s still my fave of the incense series. I’m always on the verge of buying that one.
I think that’s my favorite of the incense series.
Good stuff. I wore Dzongkha to yoga class Wednesday night and Hinoki today. I had sort of gone off my incense scents but now I think they will be perfect.
Poured the vial of GdC Dot on my arms and neck- the only CdG scent I had. The opening was fantastic- big realistic lemon peel, bright and bitter, and then the juice went into non descript generic territory- fresh, fruity and boring. PASS!
Off to spray, spray, spray Chanel 19 edt, my big love! 🙂
yay Chanel
Agreed! You smell amazing!
Not CdG’s finest moment, Dot.
I’m wearing the sadly discontinued Eau de Cologne.
One I really love and don’t understand why it was taking off the market.
Makes me think of spring and carefree days 🙂
I don’t think I ever even got to try that one.
I wasn’t on the market for very long..it had an orange box and I was drawn to it the second I saw the box 🙂
I found a sealed onf on eBay last year, after years of not having it and now I treasure every spray 🙂
Oh, congrats on finding a stash!
Not at work today and still sitting in my PJ’s in the extreme dry down of Shalimar. I will be getting into the shower in a couple minutes. I keep debating between Kyoto and Zagorsk and Kyoto is starting to win out. I do think that I will wear both today since these two don’t last long on my skin.
Today I’m celebrating my 27th birthday.
Since it’s a month of roses I’m all drenched in Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme.
Happy Birthday! You smell great 🙂
Happy birthday, Lucas! You smell great.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your rose-filled day.
Happy Birthday to you! Hope it’s a very special day and year for you.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! I hope you have a weeks full of celebrations!
*weekend* Good grief!
Happy birthday! Hope your day is wonderful. 🙂
Happy birthday! Enjoy the day 🙂
Oh lord,I remember 27!Lol!Happy Birthday L,I hope you have a wonderful day!
One of the best years of my pre-married life–may have been the best in fact. Not so dumb anymore, but still so young!
Enjoy your day Lucas!!!
Sto lat, sto lat, niech żyje, żyje nam! :^)
Happy birthday! Have a great day. Rose Anonyme is one I must try again.
Happy Birthday, Lucasi!
Happy Birthday! I love that one, you smell fantastic!
Happy Birthday!, hope you’re having a wonderful and deliciously scented day!
Happy Birthday! I hope your day has been wonderful so far!
Happy birthday, Lucas! Many happy (and scented) returns!
Happy Birthday!:
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Lucas!!!!!!!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Another Avignon wearer here. I often hear it described as dark, brooding, gothic, cold, etc., which I suspect are people’s Catholic church associations. With none of those myself (aside from the recollection of the smell of various French cathedrals), Avignon to me is warm and comforting and reminiscent of a desert camping trip. A solo, sublime camping trip involving sleeping on sand bars and juniper campfires and scintillating night skies and soft owl calls. It’s great stuff, and I probably need a bottle!
Based on your description, this one is definitely going on the sample list!
Sounds like a lot more fun than church! 🙂
I guess I sort of described my “church”! 😉
I’m in Nuit Rouge by Antonio Alessandria. I don’t have anymore CDG samples anymore.
Strangely enough I might wear this one for next week’s challenge as well. I don’t have too many freaky scents that I can think of – I’ve gone through all the samples of weird stuff I had last year. But this one I think is a bit quirky with incense, grapefruit, coffee, chocolate. It’s a little bit of everything and the kitchen sink, but still manages to wear very lightly. (I seriously just wrote up what I should write for this next Friday, didn’t I?)
Anyhoo, it’s perfect for today’s incredibly warm nice weather and I tend to want to wear this one when the weather is good.
Zagorsk. Really nice stuff, cooling and calming. Hope it lasts, since I’ll be working til 11 pm today. Come to me, Carnaval!
Have fun!
Thank you, Austenfan!
Very late posting today (busy morning). No CgG in my perfume collection, so went with Black Vines (Kerosene). Lovely, lovely stuff. TGIF! 🙂
Oh, you smell great! The first time I tried Black Vines I applied it lavishly and almost had a licorice-induced panic attack, but I’ve since fallen quite in love with it. Wish they did smaller bottles!
Yes to travel sizes!
No CdG in my collection, though there are several that I like but never got around to buying, even as a decant. So I’m wearing Timbuktu today. It’s sort of adjacent in my mind in that I swapped my bottle of Kyoto because the two were similar enough to me that I didn’t feel I needed to own both, and I preferred wearing Timbuktu.
I’m in my beloved Avignon.
I’m wearing CDG Laurel today. I feel very clean and serious.
That’s a good one!
In spirit I am wearing Avignon today, but seeing it’s packed and wrapped for THE MOVE already…SOTD Dior Homme parfum.I still smell pretty damn good.Happy Weekend all.
Yes, Dior Homme will do. ????
You smell great!
I’m a bit ashamed to admit that, but I don’t own any CdG scents and, moreover, have only smelled one so far (CdG 2) … Guess I have to catch up 🙂
my SOTD is McQueen’s Kingdom. So glad I bought a big bottle when it was still available, it’s gorgeous
I don’t hear much about Kingdom these days. I love it, but have to be in the right mood for it. I bought a bottle when it first came out, a few years before I developed a serious perfume habit. I didn’t know much about perfume, but Kingdom was like nothing else I’d tried – it still is!
You smell wonderful. Kingdom was the dangling carrot that lured me down the rabbit hole.
Another Kyoto wearer, here. Last night I went to Fumerie’s swap night and got rid of my CdG original edp, Rose Flash, and something else I can’t remember. I bought the CdG early in perfumistahood, loving the spice notes, but over time I have found other ‘fumes that do spice better, so CdG never got worn. Glad it has found a new home. I came home with a huge bottle of Molinard Ambre and Narciso Rodrigues edp.
Swap night sounds fun!
I have not even tried a CdG scent yet and based on the comments, I’m obviously missing out.
SOTD is Dans Tes Bras. This is my 3rd wearing from my decant and I’m starting to “Get It”
I love Dans Tes Bras, it’s unusual but wonderful.
I don’t even have a sample of a CdG scent, so I fail this week’s challenge. The best I could do was to play along by choosing something that would smell ‘comme des garçons’ (i.e. a masculine): Guerlain Habit Rouge, which was, ironically, created for men to smell a bit comme *les filles* in Shalimar. ????
Happy Friday/Weekend, NST!
House cousins..I am in sous le vent
Do you have vintage or the reissue? Either way, I bet you smell fantastic! (I’ve never actually smelled it, so I’m imagining based on the notes.)
I wish I had the vintage!
And after thinking I had no Comme des Garçons, I found a small sample of Hinoki. I’m not sure what I think of it, it’s woody, quite nice, but doesn’t grab me. I feel as if it reminds me of lots of other things, but I can’t put my finger on exactly what.
Twins! 🙂
SOTD is CdG “Blue Cedrat”.
Notes are lemon, quinine accord, juniper berries, angelica root, metal rose and cedar. ‘Metal rose’, indeed.
This came free among some samples from one of the German sites (I love when they do that). As far as this one goes, however, I paid nothing for it and Igot my money’s worth. It just doesn’t smell special to me, an inoffensive citrus that smells a bit like screen wipes and lasts about as long.
Today was a sunny day so I goofed off with TOMK and went into Birmingham city centre. Had a great lunch at Damascena (a new Middle Eastern themed place) and bought some artisan bread from a hipster arcade. I know we’re supposed to sneer at hipster culture but really – other than fixed gear bicycles – I can buy into the programme. Good coffee, good food, cutting edge technology for practicality, old school tech for style – what’s not to love? If I were younger, slimmer, less bald, could grow a beard that would stay one colour… but now we’re in a very alternative universe indeed. :^D
Oh, and it looks like the contract in Germany is going ahead, starting 06 or 13 March.
Congrats on the new contract! Best of luck in Germany.
Good luck!
Congrats, and I won’t sneer at anyone who can make a good loaf of bread! (I will roll my eyes at their beard, though 🙂 )
Enjoy Germany!
(One part of hipster culture not to love: gentrification. IMHO, anyway.)
AGREED.
Congrats on the new contract!
Congrats on the contract!
A dive into the sample stash for today’s SOTD brings up the original Comme des Garcons EdP. It’s a spicy, dry, complicated incense on me, which is a good thing in my book!
Hey Jalapeño! I’m excited to be meeting you this weekend!
I think I got into perfume too late for the golden age of CdG. I keep reading about fragrances I wish I could have smelled (Wood Coffee?? the Green series).
But, at least I have this little decant of Hinoki.
Wafting the green, woody aura of Sugi today. I was looking for my Kyoto sample, which remains unearthed, so this was the one. I’m liking it much more than I thought! Before, it seemed very cold to me, but now it’s warming up a bit more and it’s just lovely. I will have to revisit this line – so many I’ve never sniffed. Maybe it’s because I’m not an incense lover in general.
I don’t own any CdG, but I would like to try a few after reading the comments this week.
SOTD L’Antichambre Le Chocolat – the spicy chocolate reminds me a bit of Chanel Coromandel. A friend gave me a generous decant, and it looks like I will enjoy it til its last drop 🙂
Yum!, that sounds wonderful.
Coromandel is my favourite, so I will have to check this out!
I am also in Ouarazate. It was a tough decision for me as I have the entire CdG Insense Series, plus Hinoki, Blue Encens, Amazing Green, Black Pepper and the two Stephan Jones perfumes.
Yay, another twin!
I don’t have any CDG, the ones I have tried have faded too quickly.
Sampling SSS Rose Volupte, it lasts a long time, I’m really enjoying the creamy sandlewood dry down. It reminds me of a quieter, more sophisticated sister of Calligraphy Rose.
My bottle of Chanel No. 22 edt arrived today, I’m really looking forward to wearing it tomorrow!
Rose Volupte has been on my “to try” list for a long time. You’re making me want it even more now…
I was in the same boat–until I did order a sample, just yesterday! Go on, do it! ????
Congrats on the N°22–enjoy it tomorrow!
SOTD is Wonderwood – haven’t worn any perfume in almost two weeks, and this is the perfect one to get back into perfume after being sick. It is cozy and woody, without any sharpness to irritate my nose 🙂
Glad you are feeling better.
No CdG here; am in Papillon Salome. It’s so gorgeous, I wish I’d worn it more this winter. I’m in the last of a decant that evaporated quite a bit and I think I only got 2 or 3 wears from it 🙁
I’ve put it on my list to consider for the fall splitmeet.
YAY Friday!
Oh, what a bummer on the evaporation! …I’ll get around to sampling that one myself sometime…
Wearing CdG Holygrace I got through a swap here at NST! I was surprised that I ended up liking Holygrace more than Holygrapie, but I am happy to have the two to play with. Holygrace is to me an amber that is just a bit weird but totally wearable. Both of them are fun and the packing is so Jun Takahashi (very different from the rest of the CdG line).
Very late to the party and no time to read all the comments so I’ll come back tomorrow. Wearing CdG 2 today, one of my favorite perfumes.
CdG 2 is a favorite of mine, too. You smelled great yesterday!
Wearing my sample of CdG Serpentine today – green tangy ozonic goodness. I think I hear a FB calling my name…
No CdG in my rotation either except for “Girl” via Pharrel and CdG collaboration. Just put on a spray of that, so maybe partial points today. Got my hair cut so I had to wait until after my appointment as my stylist doesn’t like alot of perfume. One time I went for a haircut wearing Chanel 19 EDT and I don’t think it was appreciated. PerhapsnI oversprayed.. She said that “that guy sure put on a lot of Cologne” of another patron at the time. I’m not sure if it was him or me (think it was me), but I didn’t want to upset her as I want to keep her as my hair guru.. Also stopped in at Winners afterwards and scored some Korres Jasmine shower gel and lotion travel sets on sale to boot. Good day!
How can she be so persnickety in a workplace that includes
hair dye, permanent waves (maybe obsolete? I am old – LOL), and hairspray?
Sounds very control freaky instead, and complaining about fellow customers to you is not cool.
Not arguing with you Gail, but something doesn’t add up with your stylist.
Oh don’t get me wrong, she’s amazing. I just think she likes more mainstream fragrance. After the Chanel incident, I wore a current L’Air du Temps version and she loved it. It reminded her of her Mom.. I’m not even sure if it was me and Chanel but I didn’t smell another perfume in the room. I possibly didn’t smell what he was wearing and maybe she did.
I forgot about Girl. That’s a nice scent. I have a sample I’ll wear later today.
Busy day. I don”t have any CdG in my collection or samples. It was an even more gorgeous day, so my SOTD is Blacj Jade. Happy Friday!
SotD = Barbara Bui Le Parfum, easy to enjoy.
For some unscientific fun I counted the number (excluding my own) of mentions (but not actual wearings) in today’s SotD post for each of the CdG Incense fragrances:
Avignon – 12
Jaisalmer – 1
Kyoto – 13
Ouarzazate – 3
Zagorsk – 8
Kyoto wins by a nose. 😉
Thanks for polling! And BB is a great scent. I used up my decant and may have to buy a bottle (after my no-buy ends).
Nice! Poor Jaisalmer! (It’s my least favorite too.)
Continuing Month of Roses AND participating in the community project —
SOTD = CdG Red: Carnation
Good while it lasted. 4 spritzes normally last 30 minutes so what was a hajusuuri to do? Spray more! Will h 8 sprays, I got about 5 hours, then it disappeared. After walking 2 miles back to NY Penn in 60+ degree weather, the remnants came out to play again.
Retail Therapy rocks! I was hunting down the Chanel Les Exclusifs wardrobe. It was out of stock at Saks when I was there on Tuesday. I called the Chanel boutique on 57th Street and got redirected to voicemail (no call back – how rude). I went to the boutique and was shocked at the newly mniaturized version of the store! The entrance / exit was single file and I had to wait for a horde of people to come out before I can walk through the door! Alas, it was out of stock. I went to Bergdorfs and none was on display but I asked anyway and sure enough, they had a full cabinet! Instant sale! And I got 3 additional minis AND the SA filled my atomizer with Boy! Wahoo!!!!!!
I mentioned yesterday that I believe I am anosmic to Jasmine and Robin pointed out that it may be the hedione used to mimic jasmine to which I may be anosmic!
I am looking forward to meeting up with Jalapeno. Watch out suburban mall, you are in for a perfumista sniffathon!
Yay for retail therapy! I love reading about your perfume shopping excursions. You always score the best samples/giveaways!
:-). I have decided that if you don’t ask, you don’t get. If you ask, you may get lucky.
SOTD: CdG Play Black – I think this would smell much better on a guy. 🙂
I know I’m very late to comment, but I did play along in Ouarzazate. I’ve got to get my bottle out somewhere more obvious so I don’t neglect it so much. I still sometimes wish I had Kyoto instead, but I had to close my eyes and point randomly when I chose my bottle because they were so close in my affections.
I was way too busy at work today to post, and tonight I celebrated 11 years together with my honey, so I’m just now sitting down to relax. I did participate today and wore CdG Champaca EDT, which I love. It’s such a warm, sweet, yellow floral. And tonight I wore Le Labo Rose 31 to dinner to keep up with a rose scent for every day in February.
Congratulations on your anniversary yesterday! May you have many, many more.
Ooh, happy anniversary!
