It's Tuesday, and it's apparently already Ditch New Year's Resolutions Day. That was fast, wasn't it? And a quick PSA: the freebiemeet is coming up on Saturday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Souvenir de Malmaison. Tea at the moment is a lovely winter pluck Alishan oolong from Tea Trekker.
Reminder: on 1/20, wear one of your "top 10 of winter" fragrances (unless it's summer where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of summer" scents).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the silverplate Malmaison teapot by Christofle ("Malmaison is decorated with a frieze of palmettes, the symbol of one of the greatest styles in French decorative art: the Empire style. This ornamentation is applied with a special technique that makes this frieze look like it was done in relief.") is $2,200 at Geary's.
Its good thing I live in a small NYC apartment or else I would have a teapot collection. Love this one Robin!
Grandpa (to my babies) is visiting so I am enjoying a cup of his homemade chai tea in peace and quiet. Meeting a girlfriend for something sweet this morning at Dominique Ansel’s bakery in SoHo. Today is a vacation day for me. I may even have time before running off to do some much needed meditation.
Have a fragrant day!
Enjoy your ” vacation” and family visit.
I do not want a silver teapot unless I have staff to polish it, but it is a pretty pot! Do enjoy your peace and quiet, and hope you’ll get to meditate.
Making a list:
Must train babies to polish silver 😉 😉
Yeah, do start early!
Or perhaps acquire gold tea sets…
Solved!
????‼
As my mom used to say (about any tedious household task, but certainly about polishing the silver): “That’s why I have four kids.” 🙂
Yes…. My sisters and I had to polish silver when we were kids. I despise the tines of silver forks, and nobody should ever care if they are less than polished. 😉 I love china and crystal to distraction. A person can never have enough crystal vases. However, I am sticking with my fav “fancy” SS flatware forever.
I’m so glad you’re getting to have a little vacation-time! Enjoy your day!
My husband loves to polish silver. He finds it meditative. Maybe he could come and polish the teapot?
sure! you have a excellent husband
So does my husband! And he’s not to far from you ????
Mine2!!
Haha, so do I although I have very little of it. But I also love dusting wooden shelves and things. My mother used to take advantage of this when I was a kid!
What a lovely day! Enjoy it!
Lovely! Hope you enjoy your day.
Glad you’re getting a little peace. Enjoy!
“Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day” – 😀 😀 😀
I am wearing Knize Ten today. Another leather scent excellent for winter.
Well, of course, you can only ditch them if you made them in the first place. I think I’ll make the resolution to eat less chocolate, just so I can ditch it!
A nice resolution to ditch. I love chocolate, so I think I’ll join you.
Sometimes I give up moderation for lent.
Ha! I see what you did there. Moderation can be overrated.
Oh this is my FAVORITE POST!!
Quite clever!!
….why haven’t I thought of this over the years???!!!!
Lol
That is a nice teapot. I’d love to be home drinking tea made from that teapot right now, but I’m in the office instead. It’s always so hard to drag one’s self out when it’s cold and rainy.
I’m in Dior Homme today and drinking Twinings Irish Breakfast.
It is gross out. I finally broke down and bought a “happy light” this year, and am shocked at how much it is helping. It would help more to move out west but this was cheaper.
Glad to hear the happy light is helping. SAD is no joke. My sister moved to Scotland and lives by hers, where daylight is nearly non-existent in winter between the short daylight hours and overcast skies.
I was sighing as I looked at the forecast for my parents in Florida this week. A happy light is cheaper, but nothing can really beat nice warm, sunny weather.
Scotland would be hard for me! I do not really have SAD, I just hate winter, and I find that I get less done, especially in the afternoons when I tend to drag and want more caffeine. The light does not make me any happier, but it does significantly increase my energy levels.
I am with you Robin–I do find that since I have a fireplace it does help revive me. There is something about a fire in the middle of the day that relaxes me. A cup of tea, a good book, even work seems less dreadful in front of some flames. Makes winter bearable.
Sounds like your body wants to hybernate in the winter, which seems totally rational to me!
Same here! I don’t get depressed, but my energy levels just bottom out. Most nights I can’t wait to get home, get thru dinner and bedtime routine, and jump in bed! Ugh….(Takes a Vitamin D as I type this….) 🙂
I do like having seasons so I don’t hate winter per se and I actually prefer cooler weather to hot weather. I just don’t like having to go to work and get up early during winter because the dark/rainy/cloudy weather makes it more difficult to mentally deal with. If I could have shortened work hours so I could wake up naturally to get to work I’d be totally fine. 😉
JadainGA, you sound like you might be another candidate for a happy light — I am using mine for 15-20 minutes first thing in the morning, and it’s sort of astonishing how much more I am getting done in the afternoons. I understand it also helps some people to fall asleep easier at night, but I did not really have that problem so couldn’t say.
You’d be welcome out here any time! 😉
I think I need one of those and it’s been suggested to me for years. Now, most of our apartment is below ground so the light situation is pretty dire. Glad to hear it’s working. I may finally pull the plug…
Or, rather, the trigger. My situation isn’t dire enough yet to pull the plug yet ????
That’s an important clarification!
I honestly don’t know why I waited so long, except I think I thought it was just for depression until I started reading something somewhere this fall about winter energy levels and it just clicked.
It was suggested to me for some insomnia issues and therefore low daytime energy. Which, come to think of it, is probably worse in winter except when it’s 90+ degrees in summer. Then I’m a beached whale. I think I might try it. Certainly can’t hurt…
My sister gave me one of those lights. I haven’t used it, but hearing you say it works, I think I will try it. We seem to be Hate Winter twins.
I am using mine at breakfast — that’s it, then I turn it off until the next day. I shoot for about 15-20 minutes, or I use the higher light level for a shorter time if I’m in a hurry.
I bought one too, but it unfortunately didn’t really help with my fairly severe SAD. I get unbearably depressed and anxious up in Canada in the winters, which is why I am currently in San Diego.
So grateful the sun is shining today. 😉
Long gray winters are very difficult. I lived in northern US for 15+ years and winter never got easier.
Sampling a couple of Sultan Pasha scents–Ambrecuir on one arm and Ame Sombre on the other. Fortunately, it’s my day off so I can just sit around and huff my arms and not have to worry about accomplishing anything
Isn’t that a great sensation!?
I am really loving the Ambrecuir–it’s so silky smooth and perfectly soft high end leather. Mmm….
Histoires de Perfumes 1740- was given a travel bottle for Christmas. I will need to look up the notes, the first few minutes it had a strange floral take that has calmed down now.
It might be the Davana. The drydown of 1740 is just gorgeous, especially in summer.
I think I prefer it in the summer, at night.
thanks, I do not know what Davana is but I will now look that up.
I actually have a good-sized decant of this somewhere and should try to find it. I really like it, though not the name.
I received a package from TPC with the decants I bought at their 40% Off Sale. Today I’m wearing Mary Greenwell Plum.
Love Plum. How are you getting on with it?
My whole family is at home sick today recovering from dreaded Norro type virus, luckily my mum was staying at a b&b in our village, and has been a wonderful help, cleaning and doing lots of washing bed sheets, cuddly toys etc. I’m so relieved we’re out the other side and recovering now!
I don’t think I’ll be wearing perfume for a couple of days, but I’m drinking tea again. I do love that teapot, if I come in to a fortune any time soon..
I’m glad you had help and are over the worst of the illness! Perfume will be waiting for you. 🙂
Hope everyone is well soon.
That’s a tough situation. Glad the family is in the mend.
Oh no, get well quickly!
we’re all feeling a lot better, thank u very much for the well wishes!
Sounds rough but glad you’re all recovering! And yay for help!
UGH!!!! We had it at my house a few weeks ago, and we fell like dominoes…..one after the other in short order! Happily it truly was a QUICK 24 hour bug that left as quickly as it came. FEEL BETTER!
Oh ICK!! I suspect my NYE illness was also a norovirus. Hope yours is gone ASAP.
I put on Une fleur de Cassie this morning, so I feel poised and elegant 😉
Poised and elegant, indeed! Such a sophisticated scent, IMO.
It is, it also makes me feel more intelligent.
Oh, and I tried a truly great tea last night: India Arunachal Pradesh Hand-Made Black Tea. Very strong bold tea. I loved it.
You smell lovely. Thanks for the reminder about this scent. We could really use “pretty” today.
Yep, although I think I might be more inclined to describe it as beautiful rather than pretty.
Austenfan, that’s one of my top five! I became obsessed with perfumes just over a year ago sitting under the acacia (huisache) tree. This is the closest perfume to that scent that I have found.
You smell divine!!!
Your sweet Honey Bear checking in. LOL 😉
Ambre Narguile Hermes, cinnamon, tobacco, and honey.
Sheer yet present.
After 2 giant mugs of triple strength coffee, Twinings Irish Breakfast tea. Sweetened, of course.
No sugar or cream in my coffee, that is an outrage! LOL:D
YMMV
What is the highest caffeine, supermarket, tea in a bag ?
TIA for all responses.
Carpe Diem. Peace! !!! 🙂
Found this at teaclass.com:
Relatively high caffeine:
Silver Needles (White)
Gyokuro (Green)
Matcha (Green)
Assam (Black)
Ceylon (Black)
Darjeeling (Black)
The website also said that tea prepared with tea bags generally extracts more caffeine than from loose tea (so you’re in luck there), and that a longer brewing time (say, 4 or 5 minutes) with fully boiling water will extract more caffeine.
Thanks SheriG !
Sometimes I leave the bag in until I finish the entire mug.
Blasphemy to the tea connoisseurs, I’m sure!
LOL 😉
Drinking Stash Double Bergamot now.
The only reason you usually get more caffeine from tea bags is that tea bags are more likely to contain broken leaves, or even what is essentially leaf dust, than whole leaves, and all other things being equal, the smaller the leaf, the more caffeine will be released. But it will really depend on the brand/supplier, and how the leaves were dried and processed in the first place will also affect the amount of caffeine.
As you well know Bear, when you REALLY need caffeine, you really need coffee 🙂
Thanks for the tea tutorial, Robin!
Refined- I ain’t! LOLOLOL. 😉
IIRC, coffee also has other stimulants in it that tea does not. . . lots of natural ingredients that give a person some pep!
OH, and that reminded me of that Guayusa tea, which I tried a couple years ago. Same amount of caffeine as coffee, but also has some other polyphenol that supposedly keeps it from making you jittery. I did not love the taste, though — not bad, but not as delicious to me as tea or coffee.
Silver Needles? Hmmmm… Helpful. Thanks!!
You smell great and my eyes have just opened a few mm wider 😉 .
My work here is done.
Mic drop !!
Cheers Wendysue !
I know black teas usually have the highest content of caffeine, and rooibos none. But yeah, higher %…COFFEE.
Thanks Johan !
Sometimes I crave a sweetened warm beverage, and I cannot drink sweetened coffee!
Send some Summer my way. 😉
I’d gladly share some summer with you if we had some to spare, but our summer has been below average this year.
Thanks waterdragon !
You smell great. Reading your caffeine post finally woke me up. I really needed it! ????
Thank you !
Cinnamon is one of my favorite perfume notes.
I find that PG Tips (easily found in a grocery store and relatively inexpensive in comparison to other high end teas) brews dark which in my mind equates to higher caffeine.
Don’t know if you are still reading but I just remembered that the Republic of Tea makes hi caf teas…I have had the cinnamon toast one and it is delicious…
http://www.republicoftea.com/tea-with-caffeine/c/hicaf/
I post in the AM and reread in the PM.
I will check that out, thank you CM8 !
You ARE a sweet honey bear!! I do like Tazo Awake or Twinings English Breakfast if I am looking for the same kick as a cup of joe. But if you want a great cup of joe, come up and see me sometime!!
Thanks for the invite, jepster !
I will check out your recommendations.
I wonder what it’s like to be able to afford teapots in that price range.
I find I have forgotten to make New Year’s resolutions. Whoops. Oh well; apparently they would only have lasted 17 days.
In 28 La Pausa today, because I think of it as an early summer scent, and we had a nice discussion yesterday about mixing up summer and winter scents. I could’ve done with more backbone.
Aren’t you about to move anyway? You’re life is going to be disrupted enough!
Quite true 🙂
Pretend your resolution was to NOT buy that teapot, then STICK TO IT for all of 2017.
That is a WONDERFUL idea! I can do that 🙂
Well, I am glad I didn’t make any resolutions – now I don’t have to feel guilty by ditching them.
Basking in Encens et Lavande after a very upsetting family crisis yesterday. Hoping it will help mellow me the he!! out.
Actually sticking to one resolution:Bootcamp fitness tomorrow!Scared and excited.Lol.
Oh, I hope you like your class! The trick will be to work hard enough to get to the happy place (yay, endorphins!), but not so hard that you can’t go back in a few days and do it again!
Yes,it is every two days,skipping weekends.I want those endorphins!!!!!x
Every two days/every second day…Lol.Angst makes me write really stupid sentences.Lol.
I got you! Endorphins really are great. 🙂
You picked the perfect scent. I hope the upset is resolving for you and your family.
I hope the crisis resolves soon. Hugs to you. (You smell amazing, by the way.)
You smell fantastic! I hope everyone gets solved soon.
I need to sample that one! How fougere-ish is it? (I looked it up and it was classified on Fragrantica at a “Fougere”.)
But mostly I really hope your family crisis is short-lived and that you have lots of support.
Hoping your perfume is helping and that the crisis will pass soon.
Mellow can be overrated.
hannahmom- I ADORE that one!! I want a FB one day
I hope it wraps you up in a blanket of calm tranquil peace.
smellbent Florist’s Fridge.Definitely a staple during the “Summer of ’16/’17”.I don’t know why but every time I wear this or Celebrity Garden Party my first thought to myself is “Cabbage Patch kid”.Lol.It does smell of frozen leaves and wet greenery, like a vegetable patch fresh with early morning dew.Or indeed the inside of a fridge where lots of greenery has been stored.Refreshing on a warm-ish,weirdly-windy(like those Santa Ana’s again, yep!)day.Life still is beautiful.Tomorrow:First day of summer training boot-camp.Pray people.Pray.x
Florist’s Fridge is really good.
It’s such a happy scent.I need scents like that.
I was inspired by you wearing Midnight in Paris that I broke out my Midnight in Paris tea yesterday. I served it to some friends and it was de-lish!
On my list to try the actual perfume
That tea is on my try-list!The perfume is a big love,I don’t know why I don’t wear it more often!
Good luck with boot camp, Johan!
Pace yourself, and envision your goals. You can achieve them.
Peace.
Thank you for the encouragement Bear!I really need it!Lol!Will report tomorrow evening,IF I survive.Lol.Some friends have done this particular class, and they all say it’s hard but fun.
YOu smell great, good luck with bootcamp and thanks for the laugh on the Cabbage Patch Kid…I had me one of those but never took it out of its box…I think it still lives at my parents’……
Oh wow! That Cabbage Patch of yours is a collectors’ dream,if it is still untouched in the box! Thanks for the support!xo
Good luck with boot camp Johanob. Have fun!
Thank you!Let’s see how much fun and how much near-death it will be.Lol.x
Praying for you, my friend! Good luck! I know you will do great!
Haha!Thanks friend!xx
Yay for new fitness adventures! I hope it’s great fun!
I hope so too.I heard good things about the two instructors(including very detailed descriptions from my friends about how sexy and yummy-on-the-eye they are…lol).I will focus on the goal.Haha.xx
Sexy instructors seem like a plus! Very inspiring! Sadly, I find very little eye candy at my gym.
Make sure Mr. Spicebomb stays away!
Good luck with boot camp. Better you than me:)
Why thank you!It is the one resolution I am hellbent(in smellbent,lol)on keeping.x
Bon courage Johanob! Think positive!
I picked Prada Infusion de Mimosa for today.
Our local Bloomingdales finally brought these in! The Mimosa was pretty, but so quiet- the Amande was pretty nice, I thought.
I agree Ari, it’s pale but still pretty 🙂
That’s a great news! Thank you!
SOTD: Granville (Dior). It will be unseasonably warm for several more days (no complaints here), so may find it difficult to wear a top winter fragrance. 🙂
scent cousins in Mitzah….
No ditching of resolutions here! My resolution from our recent Weekend Poll (to vote with my dollar, i.e. financially support causes, products, and institutions I find worthy) dovetailed very nicely with a trip to New York this weekend! And vote I did, at Kinokuniya, Nintendo World, Aedes de Venustas, Glossier, Kusmi… 😀
So SOTD is one of my New York spoils of war: Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose (the 10 ml mini). The Aedes people really went above and beyond; they were sold out of individual Lipstick Rose minis, but they did have a set of 3, so they generously removed one for me to buy. My role models!
That’s good to know about Aedes!
You smell great. I love the juxtaposition of Aedes and Nintendo World in your NY itinerary!
I do too. That sounds like my kind of trip.
Tell me more about your trip to Aedes? What did you smell, what did you love?
So crazy that I live in NYC but haven’t been to their new store
Mmmm, Lipstick Rose is soooo good!
Oooh, what did you buy at Kinokuniya? I can’t stay long at that store or I’ll end up with 1,000 pencils and pens of different point sizes and colors!
SOTd- Eau de Missions
testing- MFK a la rose and CD Mitzah
they are all playing together nicely…
Ditch new year’s resolution? that means I could be off my no buy and eating sweets 🙂
Mitzah plays nicely with almost everything.
My vote is you absolutely can ditch the no-buy and sweets resolutions. Such silliness ( and I broke my no-buy last week with Civet from Zoologist and don’t want to be the only one)
MFK and Mitzah together is genius.
I agree that the no buy/eat sweets resolution is practically impossible. Perhaps just allow a limited amount once a week.
yes, hence, why I am going to a bakery today!
How do you like Mitzah please? Still have not sample that one…I forget if it is really discontinued or if they brought it back again now…I think someone said it is back…
I like it a lot….my decant will be enough for me though (and thank you fragrant fairy for sending this one my way)
has it been brought back? I remember when it was discontinued and I almost bought a huge bottle of it but then decided no last minute…well, good that it is back because I think it is well liked amongst us…..
They did bring it back, as far as I know.
Hannah, Wendy and ltsg-
y’all are such a BAD influence on me-LOL!!! 🙂
I just ate three Ferre Rocher’s that were calling me in our staff room…yikes!!!
Lol!Rather stick to resolutions, better for the budget!I’m probably the last person on planet earth who has not smelled Eau des Missions as yet!But I suspect it gives Mitzah a nice vanillic tang.X
Yes I should have clarifies that my ultimate goal this year is to get the finances in tip top shape so no “unnecessaries” which included perfume. high end teas and fancy pastries, desserts, chocolates, etc (I have been known to spend quite a bit of money at our local bakery 🙁 )…..also, whilst I am quite thin I want to take better care of my health this year via good food and exercise so that is why I am attempting no sweets….I know that I am addicted to sugar and I really want to break that addiction…
and to clarify, I am wearing all three perfumes on different parts of myself…and yet I am smelling them all simultaneously and very much liking what I smell 🙂 All three gifties from a very generous fragrant fairy!!!
FWIW, I have succeeded in dramatically reducing my sweets with the simple rule that I can eat whatever I want, but I have to make it myself. This eliminates 90% of the possible impulse snacks (since most sweets take time to make), and it makes them more satisfying, so I find I don’t need to eat as much to feel like I’ve had something wonderful.
Over the years, I’ve added other “rules” to reduce my consumption further, but this one helped me cut back the most dramatically, and it was easier to stick with because my own treats were delicious and soul-feeding as well as body-feeding.
That’s a great rule!
Oh that is excellent advice!!! If I have to actually make the sweets I would definitely be eating and craving it a lot less…..
This rule is pure genius!
Yes, I’m on that rule too: if I want a sweet treat I have to make it myself. Fortunately I am quite lazy. 🙂
Fragrant fairies are the best.Enjoy!
You could do a one or the other approach, with a juicy year end reward. Quite a few years ago – maybe 2012 or 13, I was in a “no buy” mode. And I also calculated that I would save at least $15-25 per week if I gave up chocolates. Astonishing! So…. at the end of the year, I was very proud of myself. I bought a bottle of Chanel Bois des Iles extrait and felt truly rewarded! This year however, I can sense there is not enough caffeine or chocolate in the world to satisfy my cravings for the dark beast. I’m giving up buying new fragrances instead.
a “juicy year end reward”…hee!hee! I like that 🙂
So what did you think of SDV and Eau de Missions head to head?
definite similarities…for the price I could live with EdM instead of SDV 🙂
I’m cozied up in bed, coffee in one hand and ipad in the other, contemplating another day trapped in the house by weather here – it is expected to get worse and worse over the course of the day as a half inch or so of ice falls on top of our 10-inch snow accumulation. I just hope power lines stay up – freezing rain often brings them down. Relief (of a sort) is supposed to arrive tomorrow with the arrival of warmer temps, bucketing rain and flood warnings, which will at least allow us to get to the store for a few essentials. SOTD will probably be Alahiiiine to keep me company while working from home.
Yuck. Stay safe and dry.
Changed my mind and spritzed Hermes Bel Ami over the remnants of the SSS Voile de Violet I wore to bed last night – it’s nice, and making me curious about leather/violet scents in general. Anyone have a favorite?
Jolie Madame, of course.
Of course! Second that!
Of course – how could I have forgotten that?!
That’s right, SheriG! How could you forget? 😉
Clearly, having been trapped by snow in my house for a solid week has taken its toll on my memory, if not my sanity! 😀
That should be “trapped in my house by snow” – thank goodness it is NOT snowing inside my house. Memory and grammar BOTH affected, apparently.
I really like the new Violaceum for violet and a soft suedelike leather. I Miss Violet is in the same genre and I love it too.
I’m not familiar with Violaceum and will look it up. And I Miss Violet has been on my to-try list forever, but I don’t think I knew it had a leather note. Thanks!
I keep looking out the window and giving the sky the same look I’d give a student who I KNOW is about to grab lab supplies without permission.
“Schoolteacher glare” — chortle.
In my family it is known as “the Librarian Look of Death”.
Apparently, I do it on reflex now. I’ve given kids “the look” for running in the grocery store, knocking things off of shelves at Fred Meyer, bumping into me on the sidewalk without an apology. . .
We call it the “Mom Death Glare.”
I have to make a presentation at a work event today, and I’ve been dreading it for days (funny how the anticipation of a five-minute event can pollute an entire weekend!). I’m wearing Vanilia — one of the few vanilla perfumes I truly love, and one of my ultimate comfort scents.
I adore Vanilia, you smell wonderful and I hope your presentation goes well.
Wishing you’ll nail that presentation.
You smell great.Go get them.
Good luck. Losing days waiting for work events to unfold is miserable.
I heard an interview with the violinist Gil Shaham a few years ago that resonated with me on the issue of performance anxiety. He said he does get nervous, but he realized that if he makes a mistake, no one will be injured or worse ( as with a pilot or surgeon).
Of course, getting a bad job or critic review can have negative repercussions, but at least we have some power to fix it going forward.
I could ” hear” him smiling with peaceful resolve as I listened.
Knock ’em dead on your presentation! We’re all rooting for you!
I dread presentations too, so best of luck!!
I have to try Vanilia, the Guide rates it a top oriental, and I’m a sucker for vanilla. Too bad it was discontinued:(
There is a gentle rain outside, and I’m having a blast with Chergui. Omg, this thing is delicious.
I have neglected Uncle Serge.Must remedy asap. You smell fantastic!
I adore Chergui when it’s hot. You smell great.
You smell so very nice…..
Hey smelly twin–love that Chergui, particularly in this damp, dreary weather that we are having here. I feel cozy all around.
Oh, I need to reach for that one again, soon!
Back to work. Rainy and cold today. I am going to need a double or triple dose of coffee the whole day. Wearing Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Cafe Noir and drinking a cup of double strength coffee. Coffee Noir wears close to the skin after 2 hours and last pretty good on me. I really like it!
I just tried that a couple of days ago and am pretty sure that I’m going to get a bottle of it, probably soon
Oh, tell me more. I’m curious of finding a perfect coffee scent.
I love mornings like this, when I awake knowing exactly which scent I’m in the mood for. Today I awoke and immediately thought of L’Heure Fougueuse, which is a favorite that I haven’t worn in a while. I really think I should just bite the bullet and purchase a bottle the next time I have money to fling about. It’s one of those scents that makes me feel elegant even if I’m not: like wearing fabulous new undies beneath my everyday clothes.
Isn’t it nice when a fragrance makes you feel that way no matter what? I’ve not tried that one, but I just looked it up and may need to seek out a sample. It sounds lovely.
I just had a better look at your avatar…wow! that is fabulous!!! Is he/she yours?
Oh, and so did I — did not realize what it was!
Yes. Well, sort of. That’s Amelia, showing off her levitation skills. Flying is easy when you’re made of candy floss and Twizlers 🙂 She’s supposedly mine but lives with my Mom.
*Twizzlers. Autocorrect gets the oddest notions sometimes.
Pear and Olive is delicious for a cool and rainy day. Calm is important.
Calm IS important!!!!
Such a wonderful scent. I am so pleased I have a small bottle.
I think I will wear it tonight in your honour.
Thank you!
Ha! I wore that one yesterday! One of my faves! I should have saved it for Friday. Its some amazing stuff. I could still smell it on me when I woke up this morning from yesterday.
Can someone please explain to me how a fragrance that gets so much love gets axed? makes no sense to me. 🙁
I have that “luck,” too. Seems like the scents I find most fascinating don’t sell well and go away.
And when it happens, it can then lead to some hasty choices (for me) because I fear a fragrance I think I love will disappear.
Yes! I admit to a handful of prized back-up bottles, purchased long before I’ll need them!
You smell great! I live how unusual that one is.
Oooh, now I have too many choices for this week! Not a bad first world problem to have!
Beige! I realized I was saving it for “special occasions”, and decided that this random Tuesday is a special occasion. I smell superb.
Yes you do.And good decision!
I don’t seem to wear it as much in the dead of winter, for some reason, but you have inspired me to do so tomorrow. You are right, you smell wonderful!
that was my wedding perfume
Ohhh! Another good one by Chanel! You smell incredible!
I wore Beige on Sunday at a small family gathering. My uncle is, well, descending… (I think that is sadly the right word) into Alzheimer’s. I had begged my dad who is home from Singapore for several weeks to host the meal as my uncle gets too nervous and embarrassed to come to my house–too unfamiliar I think. Anyway, he came. And he gave me a big hug and said my name and then said, “You smell really nice!” And gave me another hug.
That’s lovely. It’s hard, I know, to see a fine mind overturned by dementia. And you know, your uncle might remember your scent long after he loses other ideas.
Thank you for sharing that bittersweet story. Very powerful!
How touching and sweet.
Very touching!
It’s a sad story but at least your uncle got enjoyment from something completely unintentional (What I mean is that good food or family company was a part of the event that was expected but that small bit was an unexpected extra).
You smell lovely.
Hello NST, long time no comment! I’m sampling Iris Cendre today and I like it but wanted something a little more interesting to get me through this slow day at work.
Maybe this has been discussed recently, but has anyone tried the new EDP concentrations of the Chanel Exclusifs? I noticed all the prices went up and they are claiming the concentrations are stronger…
I think Elisa P tried No 22 and commented that she liked it.
I am going to the chanel counter on Thursday to try their new crayon lipsticks. I know I know..I need another lipstick like I need……
Those lip crayons look so tempting! Have fun!
I did try the no 22 edp and compared it to the edt. Not a huge difference to me and I actually think the edt lasted longer. The edo seems sluggtly sweeter but could ve ny imagination. Haven’t tried the rest if the edp range yet.
I had a sample of the LE No 22 edt and just a mere dab would last hours and hours on me!
I’ve got both Misia and 22 in the new strength. I like both very much. I didn’t know Misia well before the change, so can’t comment, but 22 seems perfectly lovely to me–maybe not unchain, but definitely not worse, or at least not to my (untrained, probably unrefined) nose.
Good to know! I wish they were easier to sample.
Good grief — that should be “unchanged”, not “unchain”!
Coromandel is not the same- less patchouli and chocolate and is more linear.
The aldehydes in Beige are toned down and it has more honey. I happen to like aldehydes.
Hmm.. odd! Thanks!
So glad I got the Coromandel EDT BUB!
Sure feels like a Monday today……Everyone in the office is a bit out of sorts! LOL
SOTD: Angel Innocent.
Have a great day Y’all!
SotM = Apres l’Ondee
Have a terrific Tuesday, NST.
Ha! I’m deliriously double posting. Or perhaps I need a new mouse for this laptop. 😉
Taken care of! And you smell great.
I had never even heard of Barbara Bui until last week, but I ordered it unsniffed for the Friday community project . It didn’t come in time but I’m wearing it today and liking it very very much. Thank you NST!
You smell great! I only tried for the first time early fall. Such a bargain, too.
My SOTD is considered one that would be worn in the summer, but I have always worn it as a winter one; White Jasmine and Mint by Jo Malone. This was a Christmas gift from a relative. Living in a city where we really don’t have seasons, anyway, any fragrance is fair game whenever the feeling arises. So, White Jasmine and Mint for me today. 🙂
One of my favorites. I wear it year round.
You smell lovely, that is one of my go to scents for summer! love it.
You smell great! I have given that one as a gift several times and always heard back about how much the recipient liked it.
A good smelling friend was wearing JM Lime, Basil, Mandarin creme on her hands from a sample packet. It was much richer than the fragrance and long lasting. Do you layer the fragrance with the lotion or creme?
I am in Chanel No. 5 body oil, almost clean sweats, and a cashmere sweater.
You looking at me?
You smell fantastic!
Lol! I see you. You smell great!
I see you. You smell lovely!
Great juxtapositions!
I wear No 5 all the time around the house when wearing my pearls just doesn’t go with chores.
U tawking 2 me?Lol.x
Well I’m the only one here. Who the $%^& do you think you’re talking to?
Hahahaha! You freakin scared me there for a minute!!!!Lol!!I hope the bootcamp-people are not that mean tomorrow!!haha.x
I took the moment to google a youtube excerpt of the Taxi Driver scene. Gosh De Niro was lovely! But I can’t bear to watch the movie anymore. It is a young person’s art I think.
🙂
31 Rue Cambon for this rainy Tueday Monday. Adequately bracing today.
Someone posted a long time ago that the United Nations should know about 31 RC, I forget the reasoning behind it, something about sitting up straight and acting in an elegant way.
Sounds like a good idea, actually. Have a light spritz at every delegate desk.
Will diffuse it into the D.C. metro system…
Haha! Would g that be a great bit for a movie?- 31 RC piped into government offices and watch the dignity and self control return. ????
You smell beautiful today.
The last couple times I’ve worn this it’s given me a headache. Not happy to report this, and need figure out what’s going on. Can’t live without 31RC!
I have that same issue and it smells almost moldy to me when I apply too heavily so I don’t spray it. It seems to grow when I apply it so just a swipe on each wrist and the back of my neck-not near my face. I can smell it when I move around.
I’ve had headaches caused by two perfumes and both had a rose note. I wonder if there is a connection. I’m going to dig out my 31 RC sample to see if I can wear it headache-free.
For science!
Dragged myself to work with a bad headcold. Pushing through with Ambre Precieux. I get small whiffs but can’t really smell it.
It’s too bad you can’t smell it, because you smell beautiful!
Working while sick is awful. Hope you start feeling better soon!
Blech, do get better!
I hope you feel better soon.
You smell great. Hope the headache resolved quickly!
Blah on the headcold. I hope that it goes away quickly and without a fuss.
SOTD is Lyric. I smell wonderful. . . it’s Annikky’s fault for mentioning it yesterday. 😉
Today is the 9th school day cancelled due to weather, and there’s freezing rain in the forecast. This school year is never gonna end!
Not sure what to do with all my spare time today–still functionally trapped in the house. I’m baking bread. Maybe I’ll make some phone calls to plan for the wedding–finally call a make-up and hair person? Maybe call a travel agent for help with the honeymoon? Or maybe I’ll just be a lump and do some writing. 😉
Whatever you do, you smell delightful! Lyric is always good for any activity!
Wow! Nine days out! How many days do you guys have built in your school year that is allotted for weather days? We would be well into the end of June trying to make those days off.
Maybe you have already mentioned it and I missed it, but have you decided on a fragrance for the big day yet?
Yes, I would definitely take advantage of these days and get as many things off the list as possible.
I live in the same metro area as Majorie, and I wonder the same thing. At this rate the kids won’t be out until JULY.
My sister lives just over the river from you all, and her school district really won’t be out until July. She is not a happy camper.
Vancouver schools? Washington State has gotten in lots of trouble around education the past few years. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the districts over there will go above and beyond in an abundance of caution to stay on the good side of the feds.
All things being equal, though, school into July seems cruel. You just KNOW the kids will be a squirrelly mess, and very little learning will occur.
Yep, Vancouver. And middle school, so you can imagine how squirrelly the kids will be.
Two days built in for my school district. Most of the neighboring districts do the same–2 or 3 days. There’s definitely varying willingness to be creative in getting days back, but mine is likely to add at least a full week at the end of the year.
The wedding is in July, which can have perfect weather or hot, sultry weather in these parts. Barring thunderstorms, it will be outside. Every time I sniff a “summer” scent, I think about if it would be a good fit. And do I want a new scent, or something familiar that I love? I’m open to suggestions!
Maybe you can do a special Wedding episode of Monday Mail so we can keep going back to it and make suggestions!
Scent twins!
My SOTD is Guerlai Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleia. I sprayed it very lightly, since its very warm here today, and this is very sweet.
AA Lys Soleia is very pretty!
I wasn’t too sure about it earlier today. It was way too much! I’m liking it a lot now — its mellowed out beautifully.
A friend of mine has worn Lys Soleia during the past few summers and she always smelled when she wore it. Such a pretty scent. One of the best AAs IMHO. ????
SOTD–Chergui, of course! Damp and rainy, needed something to warm me from the inside out.
Had a wonderful weekend away with my book club (we do this weekend every year). Went to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and enjoyed every minute. Great food, shopping, lots of drinks and laughs, and, of course, conversation–even some about the book! I am blessed with amazing friends and family. I am grateful everyday for the people in my life, including you, NST’ers!!!
Oh, your book club sounds fantastic! What fun!
How did you all get started together?
This book club has been together for 20+ years. I joined in 2000, brought in by someone who was already in the club. We have gone through a few changes, but this core group has been pretty steady. A good range of ages, we have been through all of the major life events together–birth, death, marriage, divorce, serious illness, house selling/buying, college, job loss, retirement, etc, etc. We have all grown together from this in so many ways. Oh, and we all love to read!
I am wearing Vodka on the Rocks today…
It actually smells quite a bit like a gin and tonic and reminds me of quite a bit of the DKNY fragrance from (gasp) 10 or 15 years ago in the tall skyscraper-esque bottle…which I think was just called DKNY. Smells like lime, citrus and musk to me.
This one… http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Donna-Karan/DKNY-Women-504.html Came out in 1999. I am getting old. Le sigh. But yeah this is a dead ringer for DKNY to me.
Re: Mitzah, about a year ago I went on a quest to find a bottle. I learned it’s not discontInued but no longer available in the US. I saw it in Hong Kong (Dior boutiques) this summer. I would have bought a bottle but the exchange rate was awful. I’ve heard it’s still available in France. ????
Hi all!
1) Actually, this is around the time I start New Year’s Resolutions. I usually wait until the end of all Christmas holidays and Kwanzaa. My resolution is less wheat product (according the doctor, this may be connected to my GERD) more strength training and to learn another business skill for the year.
2) In Sycomore today! Very lovely in cold weather- and the scent is even more intriguing when filtered through my sweater, which has remnants of Chanel 5 and TF Noir pour Femme.
I need to wash my sweater.
3) Coffee with almond milk and a boiled egg.
I don’t know, that sweater sounds good to me.
Oh, good luck with the dietary and strength-training goals! A friend of mine had to go wheat-free last year, and it was quite a learning process! Let me know if you want to talk weightlifting shop some time–I love it!
I love vetiver in the winter, and all year round for that matter. Something about each season is complimented by vetiver. Sycomore is the bomb. It is probably the only bottle of anything I would ever buy at this point.
I am wheat-free for medical reasons, and if you need a bread replacement, look for the Fran’s Gluten Free bread. I buy it at my local grocery store and it is the closest I have found to “real” bread for sandwiches, french toast, etc.
There will be some sticker shock, though, it’s about $6.50 around here. Worth it though!
I’m curious what they think the wheat-GERD connection is. I have GERD although not chronic and is lifestyle controlled pretty well. Never noticed wheat products being a trigger though.
Me neither. I usually have issues if I eat too big a meal or too greasy, but not from wheat.
Yes, too big, too greasy, with too much liquid right before bed is a guaranteed Excorcist situation in the middle of the night.
Yeah I am a little dubious about the GERD-wheat connection, although as a long time and chronic sufferer, I’ll try anything. But simple bread is the one thing I *can* eat at times when I haven’t been able to eat much of anything else.
Although going without wheat is good for weight control, and weight can be a factor with GERD. And different people are triggered by different things.
SOTD: Chergui, just the most matchless tobacco/honey scent out there.. IMHO of course.
COOW (cookie of the week): Snow-topped brownie drop cookies! Three stars only. The snow-capping part did not come out like the photos, boo-hoo.
It’s Tuesday, friends! Yay!!
I was just thinking I haven’t worn Chergui in a while. I will do so this week!
I want your coow…even if it is only three stars….
Wearing La Fille de Berlin on this lovely sunny day.
You smell great!
It’s gray and wet here. You smell great!
Gorgeous!
One of my favorites!
A beautiful sunny day and the first day of classes with some new course management software. I’m in Dzing! (as I so often am!) and settling in for the first of a semester full of rather loooooong Tuesdays and irregular weeks. I developed a bunch of good habits over the break, and now the semester is back to destroy them all. Hooray!
No, it will be fine. Eventually. I bought cute workout clothes and BADLY want the opportunity to wear them, honestly.
Good luck! Just think of it as a trial run for another time .
Buying new sports clothes is an excellent motivator! 🙂
I was in the mood for a Big Serious Perfume today, so I’m in Lyric Woman. My 5ml of this are going fast, and my wallet is wincing in anticipation.
Once you go down the Amouage path, everything else seems so affordable!
I like how you think!
That’s because you are a reasonable and intelligent person!
Ditto that! I am sure you can find someone to buy or trade some mls of Lyric from…..
I am chuckling at this potential upside! I already sprung for a bottle of Gold Woman – I didn’t love Lyric at first but I seem to be loving it more every time I wear it. Why must you be so good, Amouage?
That is so.
LOL! This is SO TRUE.
SOTD is Theorema, such a beautiful spicy woodsy thing.
YUM.
Nice teapot, Robin!
SOTD = Cuir Beluga
I decided to WFH today because I have 3 calls with Asia-Pacific colleagues later and it’s easier to not be bothered by the rushed commute home.
No comment on the resolutions 😉
You smell fabulous. Do you apply fragrance differently when you telecommute?
I do! My mom lives with me and she’s scent-sensitive scent-phobic so I wear the lightest of applications of a perfume that had not been subject to drama. In the half-bath downstairs, I have a Antica Farmacista Bourbon Vanille scent diffuser going on. She had not complained about it and thank God because I have a back-up of it!
It was to match my perfume! Which is a bit more affordable than the teapot 🙂
LOL. And of course I’m glad I was not trying to match my perfume 🙂
Mmm, you smell great. I need to wear CB again soon, maybe tonight.
Thank you!
Today would have been my mom’s birthday. Happy Birthday Mama! She was allergic to most scents. She was a blogger and had made many wonderful friends that way. It would have made her happy to see I have become a part of this wonderful community. Sotd is Narciso L’absolu.
This is a nice memory of your mom. Thanks for sharing.
You smell lovely. Fill your day with the best of memories.
I never hear the L’absolu mentioned, but it really is quite lovely.
Nice memory. What did she blog about?
She had her own crime related blog, and also worked for a political one.
Interesting!
It’s good to remember and have great memories.
Beautiful memories. Sending you hugs.
Thanks everyone!
That’s my favourite Narciso, you smell lovely. Enjoy your fond memories of your mother on her birthday.
Peace lillyjo !
And smile, remembering happy times.
I hope that the memory of your mother’s birthday makes you smile today.
Good morning, all. I was going to,post at least twenty minutes ago, but Dakkie arrived, looking sad, so I spent ages rubbing his soft, soft ears. We were both lost in mindless relaxation, then he started dribbling. Ewk!
Working at home for a couple of days, so I’m scented up in many, many spritzes of Apres L’Ondee. It’s so pretty and for all its delicacy, it’s a grounded perfume . It’s the scent of the earth. after the rain, not the scent of the air. I need that today: lots to do, and I need to forget a deeply disturbing, weird, but nonetheless horribly real dream. Also, I have a dilemma to resolve: do I, or do I not, buy the really stylish, interesting cardigan-duster thingy I have a yen for? It’s expensive for what it is, but not not hugely so; it would allow me to wear the mail sack more easily; I can dress it up or down, because it looks good with jeans and dresses. I can continue with any number of other rationalising remarks of this sort, but the truth is, I just fancy it. I think I’ll go for a walk after lunch and see what hapoens next….
Buy what makes you happy 🙂
You are wise…mind you, you’re also telling me what I want to hear! I decided that this year, I would add new pieces to my wardrobe unless they are remarkable. Now, “remarkable” can cover “remarkably useful” — that is, a new pair of well cut black pants — or “remarkably appealing” , as is the case in point. I want to be clear in my head that it is remarkable for some reason other than a passing whim, and if it is, I will buy it without a single guilty pang and enjoy it immensely.
I have a very dear friend who quite recently told me this:” You’re main purpose on earth is to experience joy,in whichever form”I like that. And it echoes with what you said, soooo GO BUY THAT FABULOUS OUTFIT!!And wear it with joy.x
Now you tell me? All this time, I thought my main purpose was to pay bills, and do laundry 🙂
Water dragon will you wear it lots and have joy? Then you should! ????????
I think I will love it to bits…in fact, (shamefaced) it is already mine. I like it heaps, but I must admit that I was looking at myself in the shop mirror, which makes look at least one size smaller than I am!
I find that cardigan-duster things are indispensable. You really can wear them with anything. I say buy it.
It’s a Sarrasins day here at chez foxbins–waiting to see how bad the forecasted ice storm will be. I badly need to get outside and breathe fresh air and run around, I’ve been cooped up too long.
Is the puppy still celebrating?
Yup, loves the snow. Sleeping in it now, and eats it instead of drinking out of his water dish.
Foxbins, thank you for your hummingbird comments on Sunday. I told the dear man, and as a result, he has spent some time researching the Columbia Gorge, and has decided that it’s so beautiful that we don’t have to go as far afield as he was originally planning! Yes! I’m so relieved — it seems to me that he always plans in three things and a thousand miles too many when we’re travelling, and I often end up feeling more exhausted than exhilarated by my holiday, especially when we have to drive on the other side of the road…. I’m not sure yet what his new plans are, but Il be very happy if he simplifies our itinerary.
That’s wonderful! There are a lot of hummingbird enthusiasts around here. Often the Sunday paper has articles on plants that attract them, and I am fairly sure I read that there is a public hummingbird garden somewhere in Portland. There are bald eagle nesting boxes in the Columbia River along Highway 84. I think you will be too late to see the babies, but I’ve frequently seen eagles while hiking in the Gorge. Plus if you like waterfalls you are in for a treat, there are hundreds.
Yup. I whole-heartedly recommend that visitors to the Gorge take the old scenic highway and stop at every turnout and scenic viewpoint from Multnomah falls to Crown Point and beyond! If you make it as far as Hood River, there’s some fun shopping, and the Goodwill has an entire case devoted to fragrance. Once in a while, a vintage treat shows up.
Oh, gosh, my husband does the same thing in planning these really ambitious trips, jam-packed with excursions (usually to see/hike over some natural feature of the landscape). After five days of this kind of thing, I’m exhausted. I have learned to say, “Look, I’m not enjoying this wall-to-wall schedule. Can we slow down? Or if you absolutely MUST go see those four things tomorrow, will you bring me back at lunchtime and just leave me at the hotel? Or the museum? Or a bookstore with a coffee shop?”
Or a perfume shop?
We should totally get the men together to go off on a driving/hiking marathon, while we do our museum/gallery/ perfume thing. My problem is that the dear one won’t do things without me. He’s not five, but he wants me along. I’m not as resilient as I used to be, and I get tired and grumpy.
SOTD is IPDF Ambra de Nepal. It is perfect for our foggy, icy day. I have no resolutions to give up. However, I have pledged to eat more good chocolate and get more sleep this year. It is more of a holistic lifestyle choice that is easy to maintain.
Wearing Bois des Iles in the new EdP formulation. It’s a love for me!
The EdT hardly registered on my senses, and this one lasts almost all day (although my days have been short lately so that may be an exaggeration – let’s say at least 6 hours to be fair).
And yeah, it is in me Top Ten!
Whoops!! Sorry AnnS! I’m all thumbs today.
Meant to reply to you with:
I’m loving your holistic life choices! I might have to jump on your chocolatey, snoozy bandwagon. 🙂
I got it right away …. thanks for the comments on BdI!
Yay 🙂
Thanks for sharing that Neeb!
I tried the EDT and it didn’t last. I’ll try the EdP now!
I mean nebbe! Sorry! :/
It’s cool 🙂
Hi Ann, just a quick hello having not met you here for a long time, which could have been me not being here so often (work, virus, you know…life). I hope you are well and not totally freezing over. Please say hi to Emily!
Wearing Stash, very comforting cedar softness. No smelly armpits on the eurostar detected by my nose. if anything, a decent Englishman who just had a brisk walk.
Hi H! I was just overwhelmed with some very serious amounts of work at the year end – always a busy time with programs, budget, staffing crap, and we had a big tech overhaul. I didn’t have a “leisurely” regular start to my work day to include a jaunt over here. I had to hit the road running every day for weeks. I wasn’t even really wearing perfume for most of that time b/c I didn’t want any stress associated memories to my fav winter fragrances. I missed it for sure. We are all well. Just a little freezing over this year….
Good grief: at noon central time there are already 223 comments!
SOTD is L’Artisan Parfumeur Vanille Absolument. (It will always be Havana Vanille to me.) I forgot all about my favorite vanilla perfume. Gotta make up for lost time before it gets too hot to wear it.
It even smelled better as Havana Vanille!
Sampling Au Coeur du Desert today and so far it is quite lovely. I think I may be liking it better than LADDM. Somehow it seems more feminine…(?)
I like it better too. It does feel more feminine. My only complaint is that the drydown is so long and persistent that I get tired of it.

Oh I am so glad to hear your impression of the new formulation! I’d been worried about this one.
Right!? The only downside is they added extra $$$to the price. Whine!
I had the same experience with BdI in edt,I’ll have to go sniff the edp asap!!
Do it!! 😀 i went back for a second sample, it’s too good.
Oh good! The first time I smelled Box of Eels, it came from a pre-LE EdT at TPC back in 2009, and it was wonderful. Then I got it on a split of Les Exclusifs EdT and was puzzled by the fact that I could barely smell it, and it only lasted about an hour. If the EdP has better lasting power than the LE EdT version, I’m afraid I’m going to want some…
It’s lasted all day for me, and it’s even richer on my scarf than skin. Love.
Mona do Orio Vanille makes the first day in the office after the long weekend a little more pleasant.
You smell nice and spicy!
Well… I thought so too until my co-worker asked me (very politely and apologetic) not to wear it because it was giving him a headache:( So now it goes onto my “not for work” list.
Wow 12:45 and how many comments already?! ????
It’s a sign that NDtrs are a wonderful bunch!
???? I ‘should’ have worn spicy roses but somehow as icy as it is today summer sun sounded more appealing- So I’m in Terracotta le Parfum.
Happy smelling all! ????????
Wow! I AM all thumbs today! NSTrs! ????
Terracotta is so cheerful to wear in the winter!
Yes it is goddessrena!????
Or some of us are playing hooky because it is more fun to read and comment than to ummm ummmm work?
OH, yes…this is my guilty distraction from my work tasks….
????yes hajusuuri- visiting with you all is much more fun than grading papers and prepping teens for interviews.
JM Amber & Patchouli today. Perfect for cold winter days/nights by the fire… Guess the joke is on me, bc it’s in the 40’s and still raining here. I’d much rather have snow. ????
Same weather here. And same preference.
I have yet to try this one!
It leans very masculine. Great sillage!
That teapot. It’s so shiny.
SOTD is Habit Rouge. I’m battling serious allergy/sinus crud this morning. If I manage to get a whiff of it, hooray; if not, I know I smell alright to other people.
YOu reminded me that I have one decant left to sample from my fragrant fairy so I just sprayed Habit Rouge Dress Code on the top of my hands.
Crud crud go away!
Sorry to hear that the crud is bothering you so much today. 🙁
I am wearing Bois D’Armenie, I was very good in my New York resolutions till two minutes ago.
I was away on vacation in Punta Cana, I find it so difficult to come back to snow, cold and work, it is good to come back to NST though.
You smell very nice.
Hope you had a wonderful vacation!
Continuing with my Kerosene tin exploration. All the scents so far are really quality, and though yesterday’s Unforsaken wasn’t as long lasting as the 1st 2 I tried (Follow and Copper Skies), it was delightful. Today I am on to Unknown Pleasures, as much for the Joy Division reference as for your recommendations 😉
I like a scent that starts from a place of juxtaposition, and I’ll report back how it does in a long drippy rainy day that has a research interview and a trip to the opera in it.
I like your idea to see how a scent wears through a day of varied activities. Let us know how UP works for you. ????
Will do. Hope it cuts out before tonight, as opera ticket holders got this as part of an email today, “Some people react adversely to perfume, cologne and scented cosmetics in the theatre. Please be considerate of those around you by refraining from using scents when you come to the Vancouver Playhouse. Thank you for your cooperation!”
And what are they going to do if you show up scented?
ha! good question.
That scentless rule is soo Vancouver.
Feeling all Chanel so far this week. Today is for No. 19
— and I am feeling all-Guerlain this week: Encens Mythique by day and Ylang Vanille as a bed-time scent…
I had to go back to work today–teaching–as I’m now semi-retired. I’ve been off since last May and kind of dreaded it, but it was invigorating! yay! I wore L’orpheline. It is my favorite among all recent Serges and I wear it when I want so smell nice and interesting but not too overwhelming or sweet. Got to project that “strong older woman” vibe to inspire all my female students!
Late today, but in a sample of Zeta.
