It's Hump Day, plus World Braille Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing a tiny dose of vintage Estée Lauder Youth Dew from a sample someone sent me.
Reminder: 1/6 will be Take it down a notch Friday — wear a perfume that has a bad reputation because people wore way too much of it back in the day. Go ahead and wear it lightly, or go loud and proud, you'll get points either way. Suggested by Bear.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Braille [cropped] by Ralph Aichinger at flickr; some rights reserved.
I wore Assam last night and thought of you
it is lovely, isn’t it? so versatile and the elephant bottle is adorable!
I might just wear it tomorrow if I can tear the bottle away from a family member!
You know , I am actually doing the very OPPOSITE of this week’s community project, now that I think about it-LOL!
This is one of my mom’s fave
That’s such a good one! You smell amazing!
Loud again in Piguet Bandit. 2 sprays and I am suffocating. This week’s theme is going to keep my stamina very high. No complaints. I really need it!
I wouldn’t mind sitting next to you!
You’re very brave!
Getting scared of it
I actually tried it again recently and it seemed tamer than when I first tried it.
Loud and Proud!
Puffs and Puffs of Shalimar body powder..the neck..the arms…the chest..the backs of the legs…
A generous spray of Shalimar..not the regular..but the smokey vanilla version..The Madagascar version. Generous spray
A walking cloud of Shalimar!
Send some of that Shalimar waft my way, please!
Damn, girl! You smell GREAT, like a QUEEN! CLoud of regal scent trialing you wherever you go!
Is it ok that the only place I have walked to so far is the fruit stand?
In Lyric Woman again.
Thanks for the comments about my haircut yesterday. I’m really glad I decided to chop it all off. It’s much easier to do now and I feel a lot more “me” with it shorter.
Especially if you’ve had long hair for a while, getting a big haircut can be so incredibly liberating!
I used to always have short hair and then in my 30s I grew it out to see what this whole long hair business was about. I ended up realizing it’s not what I like at all. It weighs my head down and takes forever for me to make look nice (I always have to blow dry or I’m a frizzy mess).
I then also didn’t cut it because I knew the hubs preferred long hair. Not that I’m a push over for that, but it’s not unreasonable to want to look nice for the most important person in your life.
But I couldn’t handle it anymore and warned him. He’s fine with it and ultimately doesn’t care. So I’m glad I did chop it all off. It IS very liberating!
I found my hair takes much longer now that it’s short – it’s trickier to make it look good!
I suppose it depends on what kind of hair style you have. Mine is cropped really REALLY short (think Mia Farrow from Rosemary’s Baby), so I just wet it down and throw a tiny bit of product in to give it texture and I’m done. It takes me 2 minutes to do now.
My mom, on the other hand, has short hair, but the top is longer so she blow dries and then curls and such so it takes her much longer.
I’ve still never had the nerve to chop mine off. When it gets as short as even shoulder-blade-length, it gets so big and puffy it’s stupid. If only I’d known back in junior high that I could have Farrah Fawcett hair just by cutting it shorter.
I used to have it this short when I was much younger. When I grew it out I thought I’d never go above a chin length bob cut, but here we are – and it’s really nice! I have frizzy hair and even my bob cut could get very frizzy and puffy if I didn’t blow dry it down.
I am waaaaay too lazy to blow-dry my hair
You smell wonderful. Enjoy that easy-peasy new haircut!
Geranium, lemon, cinnamon, leather, and patchouli.
1978 bottled for me.
It’s lavender partner Halston 1-12 is not for me.
Triple strength coffee, and waiting for my favorite Chinese restaurant to open so I can have Roast Pork Egg Foo Young for breakfast.
Yum, me likey! The hubs wore Z back in the day. ????
I don’t remember smelling Z14 back in the day… when I first picked it up at a drugstore counter in 2014, I bought it for my husband on the spot. I bet it was great back then, but it still smells wow to me.
Oh man. I haven’t had egg foo young forever. Hope it was good!
Guerlain French Kiss — my happy scent
Love this one too! I want to compare it to Misia and Lipstick On soon.
Scent cousins! SotD is a bit of Cinnabar parfum. Wonderful.
S(ip)otD is MF Montagne de Jade.
Cinnabar was my jam in high school ????
Yep, we’re definitely related!
Testing Isabey Lys Noir again. May have to get this one, as I have a store credit…
Store credit is always good
Scent twins, Robin, although my Youth Dew is not vintage.
My mother in law has Youth Dew as her signature scent.
My mother wore it also, although in her later years she usually wore Anais Anais. I never did wear it “back in the day”, since I considered it an old lady scent. Once I started down the devil’s highway that is the world of perfume, I bought some and love it.
I got samples of all 3 Sauf incense fragrances and today i’m trying Plein Jeux. It is lovely but yesterday’s Contre Bombarde was gorgeous. This is going to be expensive, I can tell.
I have some Sauf samples that came in my Christmas stocking that I haven’t tried yet…
I like your Santa! I gave samples in stockings, but received none. I think my family is scared to try ????
I love those bottles. Pity I didn’t love any of the scents. Perhaps there will be a future Sauf I can’t resist
I’m not hard to please when it comes to incense. If it’s incense, I love it.
If you were to look at my perfume collection, you’d think that about me too, but noe of these jumped out at me. Shocking!
The names of the Sauf fragrances are fascinating, I should look for samples. I recently read a book called Septimania in which the main character is an organ tuner who finds he is the king of a lost empire.
And that should have been jeu, no jeux.
Thank you Bear for this fab community project. I’m going Loud and Proud the rest of the week! Looking forward to seeing everyone’s choices on Friday.
My third place finisher for Take It Down A Notch is a newcomer and one that is sure to bring out the anti-perfume gestapo in every workplace ….. Orchid Soleil!
I vow to own a bottle of this lovely stuff come summertime ????
Twins. You inspired me to dig out the sample of Orchid Soleil in my drawer where samples go to die.
I like it. Similar to the Nuxe oil and a bit like Terracotta to my nose too.
It reminded me a lot of Terracotta and Bronze Goddess, but then I tried all three in a side-by-side and Orchid Soleil was definitely the outlier. Same theme, though.
Oh, er, sorry Donatella– I forgot to confess to that one yesterday.
I’ve been planning to place an order on the Aftelier website and am going to get either the jasmine sambac or the jasmin grandiflorum Chef’s Essence. Jasmine grandiflorum seems like it would be better in food, but I can’t help but want to try the sambac (this might be a good-Kermit/bad-Kermit situation for anyone familiar with that meme). Does anyone want to talk some sense into me (in either direction :))?
SOTD is Dzing! Finished off my sample of this morning, which always feels like an accomplishment (even when it’s only 1mL).
I have a sambac jasmine in my yard and it smells amazing in bloom. I never tried using it for food or tea, though.
I just love Dzing! to pieces. I went through two samples and ordered a bottle at the end of the year
I also have Dzing!
You smell wonderful!
Twins! I’m in Dzing! today as well. It is great stuff, and I’m half through 100mL????
Massive Dzing! fan. I almost wore it today, in fact. You smell amazing.
I am dying to hear about your perfume spray, what will you use it for, rice?
I. Adore. Jasmine.
Practicing my loud & proud and/or take it down a notch with L’Heure Bleu, a great deal thiugh surely Not near vintage-esque…. where is that website for ‘fume box codes again?
(am trying to locate in yesterday’s post.)
I say Go for It!!
Scent of the day is Arquiste Anima Dulcis and tea of the morning is Palais des Thés No. 25 black.
Anima Dulcis is really something special. You smell fantastic
I like that image. It looks like an aerial view of a city plan.
I’m in L’Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Extreme today and enjoying it as usual. It’s light enough to be able to spray lavishly, which is very satisfying.
I will put that on my to try list
SJP Stash today, not exactly “take it down a notch”. Haven’t acquired a bottle yet, hoping it will be offered by other retailers in the US soon.
Love Stash. It is my favorite celeb scent, evah! You smell wonderful.
Ulta at fantastic prices.
Off to take a MONSTER load of recyclables to the town center (it’s been ten days since I took the last batch, but it’s way past overflowing again GAH), in Parfum Sacre.
The CEO wants to trade in our 2007 Caravan on a small crossover SUV, so we’re going to go look at some this afternoon. I’m having mixed feelings. It’s not that I loooove the van, but I really hope we don’t wind up buying something that later turns out to be uncomfortable. I liked the Camry when we first got it, but driving for longer than an hour in it makes my back ache. I have short little T Rex arms, and often cannot find a good driving position even in an adjustable seat.
Good luck with the car hunt!
I have the same discomfort issue with my Civic. The seat is just not comfortable. I’ve resolved to rent my planned purchase for a week to try to avoid this if possible. There’s no way to know that in a short test drive…I have the same recyclables issue, too! Gotta go to the center, soonest.
When I had my Camry, it also had an adjustable steering column.
T-rex arms. Ha! I’m just over 5 feet tall and have the short arms to match.
I switched to a new car a few years ago and could not find the right position for the seat. In desperation I got a pillow to sit on and it’s just right.
We have a Honda Element that I love, but have the same issue with the seats.
My latest vehicle is a Nissan Rogue, very simple model, and its very comfortable on road trips. I’m 5’4″, pretty average arms (I guess).
I’m wearing ELdO’s Like This – just got my bottle in the mail yesterday It’s so delicious – I can’t quit sniffing myself! I’m going to try to wear all of my full bottles to work during the day, and then sample at night for the new year. Seems like a good way to start off on the right foot appreciating what I have!
I got a little sample of L’Artisan’s Bois Farine – I’m digging immortelle and think I’ll sample this one this evening to continue the theme. I think it grows on the dunes here in northern CA but I’m not 100% sure – I’m going to keep my eye out now when I go to the beach. Happy hump day, everyone!
It does, or something very closely related. Any of the Gnaphaliums (pearly everlasting) have that scent, though G. californicum is the strongest. It has bright green, sticky leaves. I LOVE immortelle/pearly everlasting, and can never understand why it’s such a polarizing scent. Maybe it’s genetic, like enjoying cilantro…
For the last several years I’ve been doing exactly that: wearing my FBs during the day and testing in the evening or when working from home. As the result, I test less perfumes per year but I really enjoy all of my favorites.
MFK Grand Soir today
I finally tried this for the first time just the other day. It really is great.
DK Black Cashmere today, shower gel AND perfume. Need it for a chilly dreary day.
You smell delicious and cosy!
Love Black Cashmere. You smell great!
One of my favorites. You smell amazing!
Perhaps we need a Black Cashmere Appreciation Day
Guerlain Samsara today.Dare I say…unmemorable!I had to think reeeeeeallly hard around noon today what it was I sprayed around 6am this morning.Lol.Now it settled nicely, but midday it smelled like a cornucopia of “things”.I dunno, maybe the sucky weather is wreaking havoc on my nostrils(from Superhot yesterday to cold and rainy today)
I have the opposite feeling when it comes to Samsara. It is my sandalwood bliss!
I have an older version and it is very loud on me.
It is one of my top ten
Different strokes for different folks.
I wouldn’t mind sitting next to you even though you smell like a cornucopia of “things” <3
Sorry!Lol!I usually love Samsara, but today was not a good day to wear it!My edp is from around 1998,but I have a parfum from the early 90’s which I will wear tonight just to compare.
Long time no post so hello to old fumie friends and new.
Today is day 5 sick in bed with flu and totally over it- and the longest I’ve gone without scent for years!
I just wanted to give a shoutout that TPC has Chanel back in stock. A sizeable range including vintage. Which makes the disappearance even odder imo, but who cares- Chanel’s back
I was just thinking of you the other day. Glad to see you back!
Oh, that is good news about Chanel’s return to TPC! not glad to hear you’ve been down with the flu. No fun! Hope you kick it soon.
Heads up if you live in New York: TPC cannot ship Chanel there anymore!
Why is that?I saw Chanel No.46 on their site, has anyone ever smelled it?Never even knew such a thing existed!
Also they won’t ship Guerlain to NY anymore..I am so confused!
Haha!I also checked the Guerlain next.Maybe they don’t ship anything to NY then, ever.
Heyyyyyy Friend!!Indeed long time no see!!Hope you feel better asap!x
Welcome back but sorry you’re sick, hope it’s better soon!
Nice to see you back again. Have missed you.
Hi!! Nice to see you. I said I’d maybe break my no-buy for a No 22 decant though if NY is out, I guess I’m safe.
Hope you feel better soon!
Great to see you again!
Welcome back! Yeah I’d noticed that TPC had Guerlains again, except for NY-ers. So now Chanels too, huh, that’s great! I guess their lawyers figured out that the cease-and-desist letters only had weight in NY. Good news for the non-NYers anyway.
Sorry you’re sick. Welcome back and thanks for reminding me to check the Chanel availability. I saw the email this morning and promptly forgot.
Ugh. I had the flu for 7 days! Glad you’re doing better.
I saw that email from STC about Chanel but missed the part about not shipping to NYC. What’s up with that?!!
So sorry to hear that you’ve been laid low by the flu. However, thank you very much for the heads-up about TPC and Chanel.
Ugh, flu is so horrible. Get well soon!
So glad to have you back. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Make sure you’re getting enough rest and staying hydrated.
Rosy and cozy in Mohur EdP.
Ahhh Mohur, someday you will be mine.
You smell terrific!
Laaaattteee to the party, ha!
Can’t believe the day is over and I’m heading home.
Today I desperately needed some “sunshine” and so went with Seville a l`Aube and it really helped. Such a warm & sunny scent.
Over and out…
oops, wrong spot!
1) Wow- a cold snap in Portland! Last night the cold winds blew and blew. I felt like I was one of the little piggies, hiding in my bed from the big bad wold of winter blowing at my house!\
2) Am in TF Noir pour Femme both a bit of emulsion AND the scent. THIS is the season to wear this. What would be a touch too much in warmer weather is perfect in the winter. You just need a spritiz or two, and you can easily dilute down the emulsion with a unscented body cream.
Wind and rain all night here in the SF area. And my region is supposed to get a foot (!) of rain this weekend.
No way!! Stay dry, hope you are not flooded out! This is why I bought a condo on the second floor.
I’m not understanding why NST is eating my posts. Sitting in a cloud of vintage Jicky today. I wanted to wear something easy today since I am still in the post holiday dragging butt.
Hi Dawn, I don’t know why NST was eating your posts either — but 7 of them were in the spam queue for some reason. I put 2 of them back, I think the rest were duplicates? If it ever happens again, do let me know because I don’t check the spam queue all that often. And so sorry!
Half-twin! (I have Vol de Nuit on too.)
Hi everyone. I just found out that my store will be closing in March. I have been with this company for 29 years. I am heartbroken and worried sick. Today I’m just wandering around crying and scaring customers. Lol. But I smell fabulous in Coco.
I’m very sorry lillyjo.
Oh no that’s like losing a family member- I’m so sorry.
Well that sucks!Sorry Lillyjo!Hope you find plan B soon!x
Bad news. I hope there will be another door opening for you soon.
Oh no, not the way you want to start the New Year. I hope there will be a silver lining for you.
One door closes and another one WILL open!
I’m so sorry! Perhaps just a tiny bit of good news is that you have some advanced warning, and some time to figure out what comes next. I hope something wonderful pops up soon
I am so sorry to hear about this, lillyjo. Hang in there. There will be another opportunity for you, but it’s normal to be really sad. Be gentle with yourself. (And choose scents to bolster you!)
Sorry to hear this, Lillyjo. I hope all your years of experience lead you to another satisfying position in no time.
Oh that really sucks. I am so sorry!
I’m really sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you and I hope this period of change leads to something wonderful.
Ugh — what a stressful situation! I’m sure you’ll come out of it smiling and impressed with your own abilities to adapt, but that doesn’t make it less horrid right now. Wishing you the very best!
So sorry, lillyjo! Hugs to you.
I am so sorry. But be positive and think that a new year will bring a new and better opportunity to you. Cheers!
Thank you everyone! I of course have faith that another door will open, but for today I am just sad. I literally grew up here. Tomorrow I will put on my big girl panties and start figuring things out. You all are really something special:)
I’m so sorry to hear that, not a great start to the New Year.
I’m so sorry, lillyjo. I hope that you’ll get all the support you need to get you through this tough time. Big hug…
Oh, I’m so sorry. It’s hard to leave a place after that long. I hope your next place is even better…for even longer!
I’m so sorry! I think you have every right to weep at the customers. At least you smell great.
Oh no! At least you got notice (as required by law). Hopefully, new doors will open!
Very sorry to hear about your store closing. 29 years in one place is something amazing. Take a little time for yourself mentally, then prepare for what’s next. I’ve been through a facility closure, and it sucks. Best of luck to you.
Oh, lillyjo, that is sad news. I’m sorry. Best wishes.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. You may not want to hear this right now, but I truly believe in the saying, “When one door closes, another one opens up.” Either something better or an awesome opportunity is coming your way. Stay strong, my friend.
So sorry! Hugs to you!
It’s a sad news, you must be scared. I’ll join others in wishing you luck with figuring out what to do with the situation. And yes, you smelled wonderful!
I’m wearing Jesus del Pozo Black today. I went through one bottle of this and I’m now on my backup bottle. Sadly, its been discontinued
I got a bottle of JdP “Noble Nights Musk” a year ago which I completely neglected. Tried it one evening this Christmas and it was wonderful. I am seriously tempted to get “Arabian Nights” while out here.
Wearing Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere.
I had actually bought this a few years ago, thinking it was a refill my No 5 EDP. Just not such a fan. The new L’Eau is a much better variation on the grand old dame IMHO.
Maybe you could swap it?
Sampling Orchid Soleil today which is interesting…
And as someone commented above, Chanel is back at The Perfumed Court…please weigh in if you have the inside scoop on this change…
I did an experiment layering Orchid Soleil with Soleil Blanc, now THAT was interesting.Lol.You smell fabulous!x
I checked it out quickly but saw mostly Allure & it’s flankers. Did I miss something??
You need to go to pages 2 and 3. There are square blocks with page numbers inside them at the top of the page.
I recently tried this one too and had the same thought. Not quite sure which way I’m leaning towards on thos one. Will have to try it out a few more times.
Going for the gusto today with a big cloud of Tubéreuse Criminelle. Haven’t worn it in a long time and it is smelling great!
That is a great perfume!
You smell amazing!
Ohhhhhh -> 4 FRIDAY! There’a great one to sample!!! Can I copy cat ?
Sables over Amber Flush oil. Lacking in the energy department because of left over flue and busy new year, so less commenting but appreciate reading all yours!
I see at lucky scent they are selling his oils…my poor wallet went hiding deep deep into my purse!
I need to try that combo. It sounds really good!
I saw a piece on this year’s CES featuring a braille tablet (the dots appear and disappear as required).
SOTD is Aedes de Venustas “Copal Azure”, a very tasty incense.
Today is a lovely sunny day so the other Mr Koenigsberg and I spent it walking along the seashore, the whole distance from the Royal Yacht Club in to the Malagueta beach. Stopped for lunch in the 1920s Balneario del Carmen with a table on the terrace by the sea. We argued jokingly on which of the quaint cottages/ Victorian villas/ luxury apartments we would take as our own. :^)
That sounds fabulous. The villa question can only be answered via further investigation – you need to make friends with the villa owners and be invited over for cocktails in order to evaluate each home.
I love Copal Azur, you smell(ed) great today!
What a great idea about the Braille tablet! I can’t believe it hasn’t been implemented yet! (I mean, now when you mentioned it, it seems like such an obvious idea)
We had a massive rainstorm here last night, so today it could only be Apres l’Ondee. I like to think that there were overwhelming clouds of it everywhere during la Belle Epoque!
Joining you in this fantasy.
I went back and looked at a few SOTD’s. I guess I am truly a “Jo Malone” geek! LOL! I know here at NST, folks either really like or dislike her fragrances. Now that I am looking, I have over 15 bottles of different JM scents! I really do wear fragrances from other perfumers, but I guess hers are truly a staple for me in my life. Anyways, my SOTD is Basil & Neroli by Jo Malone, of course. I will wear a different perfumer tomorrow!
I love many of the Jo Malone scents. Red Roses, Pomegranate Noir, Dark Amber and Ginger Lily, Mimosa and Cardamon. Orange Bitter and Chocolate is a very favorite of mine. Better not to keep counting…. They are all very easy to wear. I like her line a lot!
Yay! So glad to see I’m not alone. I love the Nectarine Blossom and Honey, Dark Amber and Ginger Lily, BlackBerry and Bay, etc.
I could go on and on. If you havent checked out her Jo Loves line, you should!????
The new Myrrh & Tonka is fab too.
I’m working on the 2016 round-up statistics post for my blog, and I just discovered that I wore JM’s perfumes the most often last year (and I think my FBs collection for this brand is comparable to yours ).
Dzing! today for me. It’s windy and brisk here, and Dzing! seemed cozy. I had my annual physical with a new doc today, and all is well. Dzing! always lifts my mood and makes me grin. Be well out there in perfume land.
All is well is good news!
Trying out Hendley’s Jade today, or at least for the first half of the day. If you like a very herbal green, as I do, it’s terrific. There is something a little waxy about it that is my only slight question mark. And we will see how it wears. I tried Rosenthal last night and liked it very much, but maybe a little soft? Clearly not meeting the Friday challenge! Does anyone have experience with the line?
I went with Reem Acra today.
I went for a walk through the blackened forest yesterday which was a rather sombre affair: charred skeleton trees, lack of birdlife and the smell of ash. The fire could have been much worse as the native bush escaped … But it was definitely arson. No sign of the kingfishers, their nesting tree reduced to a black spike. Wearing Musc Nomade this morning, a beautiful scent.
Oh. I hate to hear this! The land will recover, of course, but not quickly. That’s one of the few things I envy about Australia–the relatively fast healing of the bush after fire.
Grrr. I’m so sorry to hear that someone would deliberately damage such a lovely place. Hopefully the kingfishers haven’t moved too far away.
I saw the coverage of the fire, what a shame.
How horribly sad.
That’s truly awful.
Too bad that it was arson. I hope that the offender gets caught and duly punished.
Wildfires are sad, but wildfires set on purpose or through stupidity/negligence are more than I can bear to think about.
How sad. Love your Musc Nomade though.
Morning, all. I’m still out of sorts, but moderately cheerful in spite of it, and I’m wearing gorgeous, earthy Coromandel and a colourful, silky dress to express my general bonhomie. Cormandel appeals to me on every level: it is interesting, slightly sexy, sophisticated in a slightly tousled kind of way–it definitely makes the cut for my All Time Top Ten, which actually reaches about 23 if you count in the boringly linear way that the dear man does. He definitely does not understand perfume arithmetic. Be well, all. I’m off to fight with the HR system at work to try to achieve a variation on my annual leave. I’m seeing so many students next week that it seems a bit silly to consume my holidays when I am actually working.
Good morning Waterdragon! I’m feeling out of sorts too, just a bit niggly…like when a bra strap keeps slipping off your shoulder …that kind of niggly. Hopefully the day will improve. Hope HR sees sense. Good luck!
Yes! I have nothing much wrong, just the annoyance of this burning mouth–it’s a jiggle, not an illness. A slipping bra strap is the perfect analogy!
That is a great analogy.
I’m wearing Escentric 2 today. It’s the first full bottle I purchased after a decade of perfume deprivation, and I still love it as much as I did when I bought in at the Scottsdale Barney’s in 2014.
Nice! I am looking forward to #4, which I think comes this spring.
Another sunny morning here, and I hope it lasts – yesterday started off well, but by 4pm it had turned to winter. No exaggeration! Chamade didn’t seem quite so appropriate as the temperature plummeted and the storm arrived. I’ll go with the more multi-purpose 31 Rue Cambon today.
Happy New Year, Gaynor. It’s been so cold and wet, barely summer.
I’m trying Tuberose Couture from a sample. It’s a really, really good tuberose. Very pleasantly surprised.
Tea is a mix of my last Earl Grey Fleurs with some Sweet Golden Grey to make it more interesting.
I’m holding a Jicky/Vol-de-Nuit face-off today, since they remind me of each other each time I wear them separately. In theory they should be quite different, right? But they do seem to have a similar feel on my skin. I plan to honor the winner with an upgrade from decant to FB.
And who won?
It’s a close race since they’re both so fantastic, but…Jicky!
Ylang 49 from a decant today (swapmeet)
Mariage Freres Eros tea, which I also gave my husband for Christmas.
Dying to tey that one!!
I’m wearing my big scent today since I probably won’t be able to play on Friday. I raided Mom’s perfumes before I left and am wearing several sprays of current-ish Coco EDP on one arm and one tiny spritz of nineties EDT on the other. I’ll let you guys guess which one has disappeared and which is easily detectable from a yard away
(Did the EdT win?)
The EDT cleaned the floor with the EDP and didn’t even break a sweat.
Vintage Coco is really where it’s at.
Perfume misadventure at the bookstore today! You can apply too much D&G Light Blue! I thought someone broke a bottle of this in our store today but they just over applied. I cannot believe I just typed over applied! Yes, me, a card carrying lover of Bal a Versailles, Fracas, and Alien!
Ha, agree — it has some real sillage.
SOTD is Slumberhouse Ore from a sample. It’s pretty good.
I like that one a lot, but sometimes I get a lot of coconut from it, which I don’t love. Other times I can’t smell any. It’s a mystery. It’s a dabbler sample so maybe too light= coconut?
I don’t get coconut and I just dabbed some from my little sample to doublecheck. It’s very woody on me. Then I just looked at Fragrantica to see the notes and see that its described, by Slumberhouse I presume, as smelling like Carmex, which I find amazing. I think Carmex is revolting and made my person swear never to use it ever again in life. Ore smells nothing like it to me.
But when I don’t have my nose right up to it there is a milky thing that might smell like coconut?
I tried it this evening and, yup. I’m getting a dark chocolate Mounds bar on a mahogany platter. When I sprayed it in the store it was more dry cocoa and wood.
I didn’t notice a coconut note but I only have a dabber sample so I may have missed it. Coconut notes don’t work for me either. Ore sort of reminds me of PP Cocoa Tuberose. There are some similarities in the style of fragrance. I get dark chocolate in the opening and a velvety dry down. I’ll have to try it again soon.
Today I am wearing the Ethel Merman of jasmines, Montale Jasmin Full. It says, “I”M HERE! PAY ATTENTION!” I have to be in the mood for it because it’s so loud, but it is a gorgeous jasmine.
Ha!!! Very Funny!!!
Now I must acquire a small decant of this….sounds like love 2 me.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Emeraude Agar
This is part of the metallic series. I got the 30 mL bottle from STC’s 20% off Boxing Day sale. It was a bargain…priced at the regular line prices, so I snapped it up. It is unisex, veering more masculine, woudy (!) cologne with bergamot and black pepper. I could have sworn there was lavender but it was probably the geranium playing tricks on me!
hi hajusuuri, do you like it? It sounds interesting, I will look up the Nose on this one.
Hey AngelaB, I like it a lot. I haven’t seen any reviews on it and Fragrantica doesn’t have much info on it either!
Lucas reviewed it recently https://chemistinthebottle.wordpress.com/2016/12/14/atelier-cologne-emeraude-agar/
Thanks, Undina. And I even left the first comment! I wonder why it did not appear on google search results?
Has Donatella already disappeared? I needed absolution.
Hey, she’s still listening!
SotD = Eau des Merveilles for the third day. I’m enjoying fragrance fidelity.
Hope you’ve had a wonderful Wednesday, NST!
Cousins in the Elixir today!
Hurray for Merveilles!
Wearing Hermes Jour Absolue. Just gorgeous stuff
Absolutely gorgeous indeed.
Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile, a free sample with my recent Sephora order (Phillip Thomas Roth mini mask set). It was quite nice. Nothing earth-shattering or all that original, but nicely done. It was a good background scent for mid-week.
Ooh, I got that one too. I gave it to my 16 year old, but I may have to steal a spritz or two????
Yes, do give it a try.
And that was supposed to be Peter Thomas Roth not Phillip. Had a brain fart.
Commando today for a chiropractic appointment, but my nightie bears a trace of Eau de 1000. Sweet dreams, all.
