Happy Tuesday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I am feeling marginally better, but I'm still sick enough that it isn't worth wearing fragrance.
Reminder: on 12/30 we're doing the Best of 2016 — wear one of your favorite fragrance releases of 2016.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016 (or Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017), where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: shown is the Eva Solo My Big Teapot, "an all-in-one teapot and tea cosy", shown in pink stripe, $115 at Danish Design Store.
Berdoues Vanira Moorea…..love it!
Robin, I do hope you feel better soon!
Thank you! I have not had a good bout of illness in a long time so should not complain, but all the same I am doing plenty of complaining 🙂
Found a mini of original Organza Indecence yesterday in antique store and so far not in love. It’s very interesting and well done but the sum total is that I smell like pudding.
Hope you did not pay much for it then!
Oh, only $4 thankfully. I’m sure I’ll be able to swap it away next swapmeet.
I’m sorry to hear you’re under the weather. Hope that doesn’t last much longer.
Perfect then! And thanks.
We have a tacky gift yankee swap at work. This year I was the lucky recipient of a coffee mug wrapped in what looked like an ugly christmas sweater. It’s not nearly as cute as the teapot cozy above. I hope you feel better soon Robin.
SOTD IS Hiram Green’s Voyage.
Ha, those are always fun but then you’re stuck with the actual item! Do people ever save things and bring them back the next year? (That does happen with our family swap.)
We are very lucky to have a modest kitchenette at work. I removed the sweater and stuck the mug in the dish cabinet. ????
Ha! Smart.
That works.
Our office kitchen has been the recipient of quite a few of my cast-offs!
My friends and I get together the first Saturday after New Year’s to do the Yankee swap. We had to impose a no broken/used items. Our game has a twist at the end in that there is either no twist, pass your gift to the left or pass your gift to the right so there’s also a lot of jockeying for position and other strategizing.
We all put $1 each n a pot and the person with the tackiest gift wins the pot. So there is incentive. The first winner several years ago was a yodeling pickle. The winner also has to display a trophy that we made from a painted wooden base with a giant Capodimonte vase screwed into it. It is also bedazzled. It is quite hideous. ????
Great Teapot/cozy. Hope you get well soon, but these things will take their time.
Wearing Chypre Palatin.
I love that teapot! I know I would rather not have to take clothing off my teapot to launder it, though.
We are very lucky to have a modest kitchenette at work. I removed the sweater and stuck the mug in the dish cabinet. ????
Oops…sorry austenfan!
I’m just really glad that you found a good place for your mug.
Robin, marginally better is still a little better. Hope it fully disappears way before the New Year! That tea cosy is so cute. The stripes remind me of a beloved Eddie Bauer turtleneck 🙂
SOTD = Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir
Like cazaubon, I am boycotting the puff atomizer bottles. I smelled this on paper several times at Bergdorf and I liked it better each time. I finally caved and got a La Goutte Parfumee 20 mL travel spray. Heaven! and appropriate for a warmer day during the holidays with its neroli, tea and vanilla notes. It does have the feel of L’AP Seville a l’Aube but without the lavender and incense. The travel spray including shipping was under $50 each and is cheaper than getting the equivalent volume in the regular-sized FB. I got mine via Shopfranceinc.
I am technically on vacation but will be working a few hours today and tomorrow in an effort to leave for my short trip to London with a clearer conscience and to not feel so overwhelmed when I return to work next Thursday. Having said this, I am plotting my perfume sniffas and it looks like I can visit Jo Loves and Ormonde Jayne without going too much out of my way. Liberty of London also looks like a possibility.
Unrelated to perfume but I think I may get some recommendations from this group – I’m looking for a medical alert system for my mom. Since she is home alone most of the time, our biggest fear is that she falls and no one is home to help her. Please email me or leave a comment here as I think a few of us have some form of eldercare responsibilities. Thank you.
Yes it is! And now you’ve made me more interested in the Neroli, I did not even know it came in a travel size.
Enjoy your trip to London!
Thanks, Robin. I have yet to pack…living on the edge.
Since I am in Canada, the medical alert systems are probably different where you are, but it was important to me to get one that would detect if my mom fell. Some work only if she were able to press the button, but this one works if she fell and became unconscious or whatever. Good luck. My 90 year old mother is moving to a nursing home tomorrow for a month of crisis care – it’s not pretty.
I’m sorry to hear that. I have the same worries about my mother. She is also experiencing mental deterioration which can be depressing and frustrating.
I hope the move goes well. I have been asking some co-workers for recommendations too. Some services include a call from the company at a predetermined time. I also need to get over my concern about leaving a set of keys in a lockbox as that could signal to outsiders that either the home is for sale and could be empty or that someone inside is vulnerable and needs such a service.
I got a couple of those Gouttes myself, from Shopfranceinc – Neroli Outrenoir, and Ambre Eternel. 20ml is just the perfect size.
Hajusuuri, if you like tropical scents, do try Mango Thai Lime if you get to the Jo Loves store. A friend sent me a sample — it’s very fun.
I sure will! I wonder if I can turn in my certificate for one that was not part of the Discovery Set? In any case, I am happy with Smoke Plum & Leather so I am safe.
would you mind sharing a link to the gouttes? I have searched, but could not find anything …
the fragrance I am wearing today sounds somewhat similar to yours..if you get a chance to sample more of the Berdoues do try it! and 50 dollars for a 20ml travel spray is a steal!!!
I got dabblers of just about the entire range from Twisted Lily after an indulgent shopping spree.
Y’all know I meant dabber, not dabbler!
Enjoy London! I’m hoping you have some great weather while you’re visiting.
FYI, some insurance companies will cover the cost and setup of the device, but not the monthly fees, so be aware of that. Plus, in order for these devices to work, they must be worn 24/7. I know that sounds like a no brainer, but you would be amazed how many people take them off at night or only wear them when they’re sitting in front of the TV and not moving. Ideally, it should water proof as well so they can be worn in the bath/shower area which is a high risk area. Most elderly folks get up (often multiple times) in the middle of the night to use the restroom. The device is on their bedside table, they get up and completely forget put the device ON in their hurry to get to the restroom, shuffle off in the dark and trip over a slipper or something. Down they go. There is also a lot of false alarms with those type of devices. None of them are fool proof. Astoundingly, I have come across patients who have fallen and they live WITH someone in the home, but that someone doesn’t even hear it. The poor person has been on the floor all night until they are found in the morning. Sometimes a bedside commode and a night light work better than a fall device because the used the BSC is PROactive and the use of the alarm is REactive. Not saying it’s not a worthwhile investment, but only that it’s not foolproof and there are other modifications to be considered. Probably more than you ever wanted to know, but I hope it helps keeps your mom safe and injury free.
More is more so thank you for sharing your wisdom, Deva! As to the cost, my mom is finally letting go of Dad’s cell phone (2 years later) and I can redirect the funds.
I don’t know much about medical alert systems, but I do have a good tip for anyone who needs to move a relative into assisted living or a nursing home. If you live in a metro area with a lot of options and are having trouble choosing one you are comfortable with, find someone (relative/friend of a friend – ask around) who works at one of the facilities and ask them which facility is the one everyone wants to work at. That’s generally the best one in your area.
This makes a lot of sense, nicolasix! Thanks for sharing.
On Basenotes someone said the Toronto Guerlain boutique told them they were dropping the bulb atomizers starting in 2017 and going back to regular ones. Yay!
Double yay! Of course I am now scheming to see if I can get the bulb atomizer version with a deep discount…
Enjoy London, and good luck with your mom!
Enjoy your trip to London… it sounds fabulous. Best of luck with your mom. I might have to look into that sometime soon.
Sampling Mikmoi Aldwych, which is nice enough but not a me scent
Back to the grind today, it’s almost 60 degrees, and I’m wayyy overdressed. I’m wearing Lalique le Parfum.
I smelled CLEAN Cashmere at Sephora during my Christmas shopping and I was wracking my brain to figure out what it smelled like and it occurred to me this morning when I was sniffing through things to figure out my SOTD: L’Eau d’Hiver!! Has anyone smelled it? I might go score a sample to do a side-by-side because I’m almost done with my FM travel spray and this might be a less expensive replacement if I think I’ll want more in the future.
I got a sample of Clean Cashmere with one of those gift bags Sephora gives out sometimes. Normally I don’t keep the perfume samples that come in those bags, but for some reason I held onto CC even though I never actually tried it on my skin. Sounds like I need to go home and give it a shot, though
I thought it was pretty good. Citrus opening with that almondy lotion thing going on. I’ll be curious to hear your impression, especially if you’ve smelled the FM.
Reality is hard but at least you smell great! If you do a side by side, I’d love to read your comparison.
Thank you! I think I smell great, too ????
I always say that it is better to be overdressed than underdressed. It is supposed to turn much colder tonight so you’ll be just fine on the commute home.
How was the Brooklyn holiday decor visitation?
True as I prefer to be too warm than too cold although just right is ultimately just right. The decor on some of the homes was over-the-top outrageously fugly. As are some of those McMansiins on those tiny lots. Lots of spectators as well.
Please DO let us know when you do a comparison!!!!
I did stop in a Sephora near work, but no CLEAN Cashmere ????
SOTD is Cuir Mauresque with the tiniest spritz of Rose Anonyme layered over it. Just heavenly.
LOVE Cuir Mauresque! You smell fabulous!
I will be celebrating Christmas again today with a couple other relatives that I didn’t get to celebrate Christmas. So I probably will be getting more Christmas money. Nobody in my family does Christmas shopping, it’s just giving money. I will be spending that money on perfume. Does anyone know if L’Heure dentist Nuit has been discontinued? Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bergman say it’s sold out. My back up choices are SDV, Liu, or Tonka Imperial. My SOTD is L’Heure dentist Nuit. Maybe I should get SIM instead.
Giggling at what I assume is an autocorrect fail… or is “L’Heure dentist Nuit” a real perfume? Hour of the Night Dentist? Great title for a horror story!
It is an auto correct fail. It’s supposed to be L’heure de Nuit.
OMG, that made me laugh!
I did a double-take too!
Thanks for the laugh – I needed it!!
Haha!Awesomeness in the autocorrect department!
Sorry you are still not feeling better, Robin! I’m hoping you have something more short lived than the bug that has set up space in my old humble abode, because it’s lasting FOREVER!
SOTD is Queen, simply because it was the easiest to grab out of the refrigerator door. Who wants to bend over with head full of congestion? UGH.
I wont complain about the heat today. Nope, I’m not going to even mention the fact that my AC hardly ever kicks off, in December! I Will. Not. Mention. It. For those of you suffering from cold and snow, I’m sorry. But really, there must be a happy medium??
Wow, I can’t even imagine those temps at this time of year. Although, it is unseasonably warm here today too. I hope you feel better soon!
Believe me I sympathize about the unseasonable heat.
I would take your heat in a heartbeat, but sorry we are both suffering from the crud.
Deva you and I really need to switch places!!!! like Robin I would rather have your heat!
Back at work for a short week between holidays. SOTD is Parfum de Therese.
I’m feeling very antsy because I tried to go to my local Lush yesterday to snatch up their 2-for-1 holiday items but was thwarted. The whole mall was evacuated because of a shooting threat. Turned out to be nothing but I went home Lush-less. Now I have to wait ALL DAY before I can try again. What if there is no Lord of Misrule left for me?? I will be so sad.
Wow, that’s scary! Glad it turned out to be nothing.
Lush UK this morning had a queue just to get on their website, so it’s a popular sale.
Yikes. Hopefully you get some nice things today. I wasn’t able to get to the mall yesterday but I dropped by this morning with no real expectation of there being anything left. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the store had just been restocked and I now have two big bottles of Rose Jam in my possession.
Back to work today. The office is almost empty since more people are away. Therefore, I thought that my week was going to be pretty light and easy, like every year at this time. But for my disappointment as soon as I arrived this morning I found an email from my boss, who is on vacation, letting me know that I was assigned to finish one of those tricky and complicated projects by Friday next week. The amount of work is terrifying and I wish I could run away. SOTD is SL Chergui and honestly this is not working for me anymore considering the stress I am handling now. I wish I could be in something more relaxing and easy to wear. Patience!!!! (sigh)
So sorry! Hope it turns out easier than you’re expecting.
Oh my gosh, what a terrible surprise. Remember to stay hydrated as you work, that helps somehow.
Wishing you the best of luck – you can do it.
Best of luck, PL, sorry for the stress.
JHAG Lady Vengeance. Angel mostly ruined patchouli for me so I’m surprised by how perfect this feels today, especially layered on top of Rose Jam bodywash and Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner.
Oh, you are making me jealous with your Lush pairing. I am hoping against hope that there will be some Rose Jam left for me by 6:30pm.
SOTD is Ambre Russe. We are off to a belated Holiday celebration today, and booze will be needed.????
Robin, hope you are feeling better soon. Is it the kind of bug that affects the ability to taste as well as the ability to smell? Those are the worst, because I do so enjoy food.
So far it has not had that effect! And really I can smell, I just feel so crappy that perfume would not help matters.
Coromandel for extended family Christmas celebration. The party will be wonderful – many of these people are my favourite humans on the planet, but then I have to go to my mom’s and move her to a nursing home. There is a waiting list a year long, so this will only be for a month of crisis care and then heaven knows what we will do. She has lived in the same house for 70 years and she is devastated at having to leave so this will be hard.
I love, love, love Coromandel. I hope it gives you support as you go through this difficult time. Are there care-givers nearby who might be able to come to help her in her home? I know it’s expensive but that might be an option. My aunt and uncle had that as they became increasingly debilitated and were both able to be home until they passed.
Thumbs up on Coromandel. I wish you well on moving mom to crisis care.
I’ve found, from family experience as well as doing home health work, that elderly folks are suspicious of caregivers they don’t already know. Coupled with the disorientation of a move – especially after 70 years! – I think it would be helpful to work up a schedule of relatives to visit her frequently. If you have relatives nearby, of course. Best of luck, ScentSpirit.
Best wishes for you and your mom. Hope all goes well.
Today I’m wearing a favorite that I can’t wear at work since one of my staff is allergic – 4711 AC Rhubarb & Clary Sage.
Wearing Chanel 19 Poudre and trying to get my head back in the game at work. So far, no luck. My brain is still singing Christmas carols somewhere. At least I smell good!
People may be tired of my ongoing raves about the samples in my gift-to-self packet from April Aromatics but I am trying the last one today, Unter den Linden, and it’s just beautiful! I saved it to last because I’ve found linden can be cloying and sneeze-inducing, but this is just fresh and pretty, with a tiny honey note. There is not a bad one in the whole set and I have not been this excited about discovering a new line for a long time. Today is catch-up day after Christmas rushing around, a day to do laundry and go buy cat food and generally just relax. It’s still unusually warm here in Houston–we broke the record yesterday with 85 degrees. Kind of disgusting really! And very very humid.
Oh, I may have to seek out UdL. I love a good linden!
UdL is probably the best linden perfume that I’ve ever tried (and I tried many others since linden is one of my favorite scents in nature). I haven’t bought it yet only because I’m working on persuading myself that I should pay that price for a day-wear perfume. But eventually I will give up.
I think its fabulous you have found a line that really works for you. Its kind of like finding your soul mate, fragrance wise. Congratulations!
Sorry for your weather. I know some folks revel in warm temps and high humidity, but it really just saps my energy completely. I always look forward to fall/winter, but those seasons have become nonexistent the past couple of years, it seems.
My discovery set did not come with UdL but I have a manufacturer’s sample….one of my first purchased samples since falling into the rabbit hole.
Hmmm…this sounds like a line I should try.
I’ve only tried calling all Angels from AA but I’ve great reviews about UdL. Calling all Angels is beautiful too. I never persued it due to the price and I have a suspicion that it would make my head tired by the end of the day.
SOTD!Bronze Goddess!I smell like I should be somewhere on an exotic beach, instead I am in Suburbia, kinda packing, kinda on standby for emergencies at work. We’ve had a couple of rainy cool days which I am thankful for, after the heatwave(s).Current obsession:Emily Jane White’s haunting album They Moved in Shadow all together.Every song is so relevant for me right now, especially Frozen Garden.Go listen,if anyone likes American Folk(ish) music.x
I’m in a music rut…will hopefully be able to check this out soon!
Robin, ugh — I’m sorry you’ve been unwell over the holidays! I hope marginally better turns into gloriously hetter very soon.
I’m in Palissandre d’Or today, for the sole reason that I couldn’t remember what it smelled like. Now, nose to wrist, I’m still finding it hard to pin down, which is the case with me and several of the AdV scents. Incense, Jeffrey pine, something sweet? I’ve also dug out a few neglected lovelies that need to be in heavier rotation now that it’s officially winter, and set them out for the week: Ambre Sultan, Dzongkha, Liquid Crystal, Fille en Aiguilles… I spend so much of the year in citrus colognes, but now is the time to justify the rest of my collection!
I love Palissandre d’Or and have been craving it but my bottle is not here, so I ordered a couple of samples to tide me over.
I’m in Parfums Dusita La Douceur de Siam
I’ve got a touch of the crud myself — hoping everyone feels better, stat!
Started testing my Jo Loves sampler yesterday. No lovin’ yet for me, but I shall persevere.
Sorry about your crud! Any favorites so far?
Off soon to meet a couple of friends to exchange slightly-late holiday gifts. They are getting Yves Rocher bath stuff. Can’t remember ever giving someone actual perfume, unless as a pass-along item. We actually had snow yesterday, so am wearing JM Velvet Rose and Oud to fit the season.
Back at work in Theorema and Theo is inspiring me to take matters into my own hands and leave early. ;D
haha! love it!!
Executive decision.
Forgot I also wanted to ask about Tauer’s Amber Flush Body Oil. Who has tried this and any thoughts? It sounds wonderful on the LuckyScent site – but I am wondering if it’s super strong? I would prefer a more subtle fragrance to use as a body oil. Thanks.
I like it! But it’s really quite strong and the scent seems to last indefinitely on both fabric and skin
Thanks – just what I needed to know!
I find it very strong, so I dilute it by mixing it in my hands with an unscented body oil — three sprays unscented to one spray Amber Flush. So it’s very cost-effective, for me! It’s a nice, warm amber like Amber Flash — more woody than strident.
That’s a great idea, since I find amber flush a little strong, which unscented body oil do you use?
I buy plain unscented almond, apricot, sesame or jojoba oil. All of them work fine.
I use the Ayurvedic Body Oil from Better Botanicals — it’s a blend of sesame and almond and a few other oils and is dreamy and inexpensive, to boot!
I don’t find it very strong at all strangely enough, it is a dryish but deep amber scent on me which I wear undiluted and recommend wholeheartedly. I also bought the mandarine ambree soap which is lovely, more citrussy than amber, a very soft and moisturising soap.
Like hamamelis, it is actually fairly tame on me.
Im in Borneo 1834 – great scent.
I wonder, somebody told me that all By Kilians (even older ones) are refills, meaning the cap unscrews. Is it indeed so?
Well yes,Kilian has always marketed his perfumes as eco-luxe, you pay an initial hefty price for the refillable bottle in a gorgeous clutch, and then you can buy the “cheaper” refill sets.
What johanob said but you can get the unadorned refill version even if you don’t have the lux-packaged bottle.
Howdy-hi, NST! This is one of my favorite times of year, the week before the new year begins, a time to dust off the cobwebs (at home and in the brain) then have a little think-think-think about past days and fresh starts.
I’m spending the morning getting to know 24 Faubourg edt. Just a bit haughty at first, but so far it feels like a winner.
Have a terrific Tuesday everyone, and take good care (naps, tea, and TV) if you’re fighting the crud.
24 Faubourg sounded perfect for today, so I copied you. We smell great!
Oh, yes, we do smell great! I very rarely re-apply the same scent in one day, but I’ve just had my third spritz of 24 Faubourg. It’s hitting all the right notes.
Hello NST folk, and I hope you have had/ are having a good Christmas. I am catching up on sleep and otherwise doing very little. SOTD today is Eau d’Italie “Sienne l’Hiver”, the perfect Winter scent if you don’t want to go all cozy or spicy. :^)
Otherwise my Christmas scents have been:
– Christmas Eve: Olibère “Escapade à Byzance”, which I love although it gets little attention elsewhere.
Top: cinnamon, black pepper, saffron, thyme, ginger and citruses;
Mid: cloves, cypress and incense;
Base: benzoin, heliotrope, musk, vanilla, patchouli, amber, cedar and vetiver.
– Christmas Day: Parfums d’Empire “Ambre Russe” from the bottle I got myself on my last day in Paris.
Top: champagne and vodka;
Mid: tea, cinnamon, coriander, birch, juniper and leather;
Base: incense, musk and amber.
– St. Stephen’s Day: Annick Goutal “Encens Flamboyant” – happily got in and out of town before the craziness of the sales had really started.
Top: incense, pink pepper, pepper and red berries;
Mid: nutmeg, incense, cardamom and sage;
Base: balsam fir, incense and mastic.
Sienne l’Hiver is so gloomy and cold. That’s why I love it though 😛 You smell beautiful!
That Escapade sounds great, but looks like it will be tough to get in the U.S. I’ll have to hunt around some more.
Robin, I hope you feel much better really soon!! In all the years I’ve been on NST, I can’t remember your going this many days without perfume! This is borderline apocalyptic! 😉
It really is apocalyptic, because I need to use up all this perfume!
Feel better, Robin!
After having gone a month or two without reading NST, I’ve fallen out of the habit altogether :-/ I wonder if I’ll get back in the habit when I go back to France.
Still hanging out in my parents’ house in Maryland, eating my mother’s fabulous cooking, enjoying the luxuries of not living like a poor student. There are flowers and plants everywhere, even in December. My mother’s fat, bush-like jasmine plants are still flowering somehow, perfuming one side of the sunroom. The other side and the breakfast area are drenched in the scent of paperwhites, and only about 1/3 of her paperwhites are in bloom so far!! Absurd and wonderful.
I myself smell of l’Arlésienne from the body oil I used after my shower last night and from the lovely hand cream I put on a couple hours ago.
Back to work I go! Working on my paper from here, in a flowery sunroom in suburban Maryland, is much less panic-inducing than working on it in France.
Being cooked for, among blooming things, sounds lovely. Enjoy your respite.
SOTD is Bvlgari Black.
It was just confirmed that Carrie Fisher passed away. 2016, you really, truly suck.
It really does. I’m so sorry to hear she passed away. Such a talented, smart woman.
You smell fabulous!Sad sad news. This year can really just piss off now….
+1 to your comment about 2016. Agree wholeheartedly.
What?! Omg, people are dropping like flies ????
Such sad news. 🙁
I only recently discovered how intelligent, strong, and funny she is 🙁 I strongly agree with your assessment of 2016.
Oh, no! From the news this morning it almost sounded like she was doing better. So sad…
So sad about Carrie Fisher!
Didn’t realize this happened. We’re really getting walloped.
Yeah, 2016 is shaping up to be an epic year of suckitude.
Someone said on Twitter today that Bowie is selecting individuals to join him in his alternative universe, one by one. It’s a nice thought.
No scent today, because I’m treating my hands and nails to scented lotion candle oils. My nails get so dry, fragile and brittle – especially if I wear nail polish, which I did over the holidays. I’ve found this warm oil absorbs nicely.
It’s scented enough to be your SOTD!
Morning, all. I’m still in bed, feeling utterly decadent, because it’s nearly 8 o’clock and I’m nearly always up and going by six! I read until after nidnight, something I don’t often do because I sleep so badly after midnight. Although I haven’t showered yet, I sprayed Galop lavishly so I could enjoy it while I ate my breakfast, so Dakkie and me, we smell heavenly as we loll about in bed. No idea what I’ll wear when I get dressed, but I’m toying with the idea of choosing a house and systematically working my way through all the perfumes I have and keeping notes and stuff. That sounds quite depressingly organised and structured for holiday time, though…nah. I think I’ll just reach blindly and see what happens. Be well, NST. Hope sufferers turn the corner to wellness today.
I love staying up late reading and then sleeping in on the holidays too! Not looking forward to 6:15 again next Tuesday, but at least I have another week.
After finishing Chanel Gardenia last Friday it has inspired me. I finished Cuir de Russie Sunday and today I am attacking the last of SL La Myrrhe. There is still at least 8 mls remaining though, so it will take me a while.
You’re on a bottle-emptying winning streak. Go, go, go!
You’re on a roll! I’m with Tiffanie on the Go! Go! Go!
Wearing Smell Bent One today; niece and nephew are hanging out with my three kids today, playing Settlers of Catan. Nice.
Penhaligon’s sale PSA: http://www.penhaligons.com/us/its-a-secret/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_campaign=Sale&utm_medium=Paid+Social
I miss playing Catan. Years ago we had a group of neighbors who were true settlers.
And, ruh roh, that sale includes the soaps which are fabulous . . .
My niece and nephews and their friends used to be obsessed with Settlers of Catan – they would play until the wee hours of the morning. But who am I to judge when I remind myself that we had Monopoly way back when.
And lalalalalalalalalala on the Penhaligon’s sale…
One of my 2016 favourites Arbole Arbole today. I visited one of the few niche perfumeries in the Netherlands and bought Nobile 1942 Patchouli Nobile. The SA gave me a sample of Sospiro Wardasina, a really beautiful rose tabacco. Let’s see how I get on with it because it is ridiculously expensive!
But you’re worth it ….
Oh, I tried that Nobile and really liked it (though not quite FBW).
Robin, so sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well. Hope you shake off your illness soon.
SOTD = TF Orchid Soleil. I liked it more the first time I tried it. 🙁
Thank you!
The JM Mimosa & Cardamom I put on last night was (surprisingly) still going strong in the morning. I was living off its last whiffs until just a moment ago, when I found a foil sample of AERIN Tangier Vanille tucked in a mailer. I impulsively rubbed some on my wrists in spite of not being a huge fan of vanilla or amber, but I am finding it surprisingly likable. There were lovely whiffs of bergamot and rose at the beginning, then the amber blends seamlessly into the creamy, slightly woodsy(sandalwood?) vanilla. This might need further investigation 🙂
p.s. get better soon Robin!
Thanks for the Tangier Vanille report, I still have not tried it!
Wore Eau de 1000 this morning, which brought me luck on my final piece of dining room (and de facto storage) furniture: negotiated, paid for and delivered in one afternoon.
Switched to Stash later in the day, which I’m enjoying more each time I wear it.
I’ve hesitated to admit this here, it’s such a downer, but I’ve had that cold 4 times now. Up side: it gets shorter each time. I’m down to 4 days from 3 weeks. Sorry, Robin, that’s the best I can do. Feel better soon!
Ugh! I don’t think I’ve ever had a 3 week cold, hope this is not to be the first.
Wearing Coco today, since I needed something fabulous to go snowboarding in. My last attempt had been dispiriting, so I really wanted some scented confidence. And it worked–sort of. Everything was much better than the first time, until my last run of the lesson, when i wiped out and sprained my wrist. Am now typing one-handed, but still smell great.
That’s still rather cool that you tried snowboarding again, despite what happened with your previous attempt. Will you try again, or is this it?
Not sure. Depends how quickly this heals. If you had asked me this morning, I would definitely have said I’d go again. This afternoon, definitely not. Now I’m wavering and torturing myself by watching videos of olympic snowboarders. I like surfing a lot. Snow is less forgiving than water.
A friend I haven’t seen in awhile came over for a visit with her 2 month old bundle of joy! Such a little sweetheart 🙂
I waited until they left to spray on some Athalia by Perfums de Marly.
