It's Monday (don't you hate it when that happens?) and it's Frank Sinatra's birthday, and it's National Poinsettia Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Update: it is the sort of Monday where I do not even notice that I didn't report my own fragrance until an hour later, even though I spent some considerable time picking it this morning. I'm in Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle.
Reminder: on 12/16, wear a sandalwood fragrance, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SOTD: Ambre Sultan.
Something with a presence to power me through the beginning of another week!
You smell great.
SOTD Body Kouros, which I re-discovered yesterday after searching in vain for my 15 ml Vetiver Tonka
That is a nice one and very reasonably priced–I love the anise note. You smell fantastic.
You smell wonderful and opulent.
Thank you! Its my sandalwood bliss
Twins and as usual Samsara is not working for me.
Doesn’t work for me either ????
I can gladly take it off your hands
Hit me up at taiga101 in land of yahoolagins. Happy to see it to a loving home.????
Ok..I sent you an email
You smell fab! I’ll definitely wear that some time this week.
Beautiful photo once again! And happy birthday to Frank!
Hoping everyone is safe and warm in the areas affected by the winter storms. Summer is back again here, sadly. Is there no happy medium weather wise anymore? Sheesh. Monday’s are great for complaining ????
SOTD was Amber Flush Body Oil for early am dental appointment to get my brand new and outrageously expensive crown. Added the last dribble of MFK Grand Soir from my sample and will spend the afternoon haggling the price of a van. Fun times!
Happy Monday to All????
Hope your crown is lovely and was relatively painless. And do go right ahead and send your summer my way.
The crown is lovley but it’s way in back where it can’t sparkle to its full potential unless I make an odd grimace and shine a flashlight in my mouth???? I’m sending some summer your way right now????
Thanks for sharing summer, and may we neither of us ever need another crown!
How are you likely the oil?
I love Rose Delight oil from that line
LOVE the oil and wish he sold it by the gallon! I have 2 bottles and pretty sure they will be gone within the next couple of months. Delicious stuff!
I told him he needs to sell bigger bottles!
Perles de Lalique for me today. Love the spice.
I need to try to this. You really seem to enjoy it ????
I’m usually underwhelmed by cheap thrills, but I do like Perles. I like it layered with Theo Fennell Scent, and it would probably work well with other smooth scents, such as ambers.
SotD: SL Santal de Mysore from an elderly bottle (mid-late 90s). It has calmed down to a spicy, sweet, leather caramel with a bit of curry. It is loud, but I am working largely alone in the office today.
S(ip)otD: Satispur Estate Assam from Upton with a bit of almond milk.
Vintage Serge, yum.
SOTD Terra-cotta Le Perfume again. Easy comfort in drizzly dreary weather. Yay for dark chocolate and perfume comfort on a Monday. Someone needs to write a song about that, hmm?
???? Happy Monday all!
It’s shocking how few songs there are about chocolate.
Please don’t tell that to Niki,Ariana or Britney!!!lol
I know there are some, but still, not as many as you’d expect, given that’s it’s chocolate.
SOTD: Dior Homme. Will have to remember sandalwood the rest of the week…
SOTD Byredo 1996. The opening makes me swoon. I can’t stand the amber/vanilla onslaught though. Not that it’s objectively bad; it’s just a combination that I dislike. I get whiffs of lovely smoky leather beyond the amber/vanilla.
I like that one better dabbed than sprayed, but you do smell great.
L’Occitane Ambre & Santal.
That sounds lovely – is it still made, or would I have to hunt it down?
I just checked and it doesn’t seem to be on their site anymore. Boo! It’s quite a good amber.
“Boo” is right! And I love a good amber, too. Oh well, I haven’t checked out Eau des Baux yet either – maybe I should do that before THAT disappears too.
Yes you should!! It’s almost a classic.
I liked that one and had the shower gel which was nice, too.
Monday again…..But just 8 more school days until things slow down a bit! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
SOTD: Centrepiece, by 4160 Tuesdays. Frangipani and honey! Definitely a hit of vanilla too…..Good stuff!
That is nice
my little one is going to start a 2’s program part time at a school nearby. Its all happening so fast.
Enjoy the countdown for school to break for the holidays
Sounds lovely! I’m always on the lookout for honey fragrances – I’ll have to try this one!
I’m with girardEAU today in Dior Homme. It might not have sandalwood in it, but it’s similarly calm and soothing.
I’m in Cuir d’Ange today.
I went on a perfume buying frenzy. This tends to happen each December when I have the extra money. Nothing too exciting, just some that I wanted to add as staples: L’ombre Dans L’eau, L’Orpheline, and Dior Homme. I’m justifying it (ok, not really) because I was so good in using up 90% of all my samples throughout the rest of the year.
I’m fairly certain I’ll get Ormonde Woman for xmas, which is the only other one on my WANT list.
I think you justification is completely justified! Plus you smell great????
Hahaha, yeah I keep telling myself, “But I was so good!” until I got my bonus. LOL
wow wow wow!
Sounds like you had some fun shopping
It’ll be nice to get those in the mail, so that is the fun part. I pretty much knew I wanted them and got them all heavily discounted.
Funny enough, those aren’t even the biggest gift-to-self I’m considering (getting a new camera soon-ish). But it’s nice that I’m finally getting them since they’ve been on my list for ages.
Oh, nice! My bro-in-law gave me his Canon DSLR a few years back which I’ve only used as an auto since the instruction manual is too daunting. I keep meaning to take a DSLR class I see offered near me. It’s always on the long list of things I want to learn.
Nice! Which model is it? I’m selling mine (Canon EOS T2i) and getting a mirrorless camera because it’s smaller. I used to do a lot more photography, but I’ve come to admit I’m more of a casual photographer than serious, so I want something that has quality that’s on par with a DSLR but a lot less camera to lug around.
I don’t recall! That’s how long it’s been since I used it. Yes, it’s heavy to lug around.
You smell lovely.
Cuir d’Ange is so delicate, it may be my gateway to an appreciation of leather, thanks to a wonderful NST swapmeet swapper who sent me their sample.
Dior Homme is the boss.
It is very delicate and nice. It’s the lightest leather scent I have and I can see how it would easily be a gateway leather.
I can’t wait to get my Dior Homme bottle!
SOTD so far is a sample I’m trying of Perfums de Marly Oajan. It is too syrupy and cloying for me. Smells like a nice baked apple but not what I want to carry around on me all day. So I hope it’ll vanish after my shower and I’ll try something else. For sandalwood day I will try to eke out a few drops from my precious bottle of the sadly discontinued MPG Santal Noble. I wish I could find more, to me it’s the perfection of all sandalwood scents.
Parfums, of course. Spell check again.
I think you have convinced me to skip Oajan
Journey Woman, honeyed goodness.
Absolutely. You smell amazing.
I almost reached for that this morning, its so lovely.
Day three of Amyris & Orange Essence….I swear I am addicted to the amyris…like a kitty with catnip.
Chocolatemarzipan8, is that a marshmallow I see as your avatar? I suffered a huge marshmallow disappointment the other day when it was finally cool enough here to drink hot cheap chocolate. My local grocery was SOLD OUT of marshmallows! I almost cried like a three year old. It bolstered my spirits to see it as your avatar ????
Well, looking a bit closer, it may NOT be a marshmallow. I’m devastated. Again…
Also, I don’t know where “cheap” chocolate came from. I’ll quit while I’m behind. There’s a ghost in the machine ????
It is fondue….:)
But now that I look at it might have been me dipping a marshmallow in the cheese
Nope …double checked the photo from my archives…it is a piece of baguette and not a marshmallow…but I changed the avatar again for you to hot chocolate…it is upside down so that you can see the pretty design made by the cream…a heart
Cold rainy Monday, but not cold enough to get snow. Two cups of coffee with Pumpkin Spice coffee creamer, in a Pfaltzgraff Christmas Heritage cup (smaller than my usual large coffee mug!). Wearing Memoir Woman. Dog curled at feet. Could be much, much worse.
Fresh-cut Christmas tree is up and decorated with lights but nothing else yet due to holiday concerts for me and Gaze. Just put the stockings up; our only mantel* is over the fireplace in the basement family room so we tie the stockings onto the banister next to the tree in the foyer.
*Yes, mantel is the correct spelling. Yes, I’m sure. “Mantle” is a cloak or covering, thus the lyric, “Over the ground lies a mantle of white.” ‘Scuse my pedantry if you will, and please don’t shoot me for the earworm.
I applaud your pedantry and you smell great!
Wait, did someone use it incorrectly here? Or this is just general?
Just general! I see it ALL. The. Time. and it bugs the pants off me.
Palette, pallet, and palate misuse, and stationary vs. stationery make me nuts too!
Oh the palates!
Oh yes. Grr.
Third world problem, I guess… but I learned most of my grammar and vocabulary through reading, and it burns me to think that the incorrect usages are being disseminated like juicy gossip (which so often turns out to be either untrue or wildly exaggerated).
Are those kin to Pilates?????
First world problem! (so long as we’re being pedantic )
I’m wearing Ormonde Jayne Nawab of Oudh and I like it. I don’t get much oud (not too sad about that), but among the notes I do get are magnolia and cardamom – yay! It’s very well blended, though, nothing really stands out. I feel no need for a full bottle, but will gladly wear my sample.
Interesting. I’m not a huge oud fan either, but the magnolia and cardamon sound promising.
Nawab of Oudh is lovely, but my sample will have to suffice, the FB price is a bit fearful!
Herba Fresca to start the day. It’s bright and sunny and supposed to get up to 70f today. I have sewing/craft projects to work on that require drizzly, wintry weather or they just feel wrong. Guess I will mow the lawn instead.
On a completely un-perfume note, my cousin lost her Weimaraner last week in a freak accident and really needs to have another. Caring for her dogs has always been one of her greatest joys. If anybody knows of or hears of a Weimaraner or Vizsla rescue resource that I haven’t found, we are looking for a female 3 years old or younger and cat safe. Somewhere in the central part of the US would be preferable, within a days drive of Texas or Missouri, but we can make a longer trip if necessary. I know it’s a big order, but her pets are her family and she is absolutely devastated so any tips would be appreciated.
I am sorry for her loss!
Hope you find a rescue and that it will all work out
So sad and so sorry for her! I have no leads however. My bro-in-law had an adorable Vizsla which they rehomed after they had a baby for a variety of reasons ????
So sorry about her doggie, and hope she can find another one to love.
It is so hard to lose a furry family member. I’m sorry.
I hardly use Facebook but I know of several families that have had good experiences finding a dog (or a new family for a dog) through some of the community forums there.
I’m very sorry. I hope she finds a dog to rescue and love.
Have you tried looking on petfinder.com?
Oh no! T-Rex and I send our sympathies! Hoping she will find another 4 legged love when she’s ready. There are lots of pure breds in shelters that never make it to breed rescue groups. You never know what you’ll find at the local pound, SPCA, or Humane Society.
I am so sorry about the loss of your cousin’s beloved dog. Has she contacted the national breed club to find local rescues?
J.Crew/ Arquiste No.57 for me on this grey, wet morning
That was me yesterday. It’s a really scent.
Solstice Scents Estate Carnation from a little decant my big sister gave me.
Need to spend morning repairing the damage from going through space bags to find the winter gear and then refill them with the summer gear. My husband has a LOT of sweaters. He sent me a link to a red cable knit one as a suggestion for Christmas. Newp. No more sweaters for you. Winter clothes take up more space, so any new stuff means get rid of old. I swear, I must have 20 apairs of wool socks from years of receiving them as presents.
But don’t you have to let him have all the sweaters so you can have all the perfumes? (j/k)
???????? I would, if his sweaters were the size of perfume bottles. I’m limiting my collection to a particular cabinet so it can’t expand beyond that.
He’s getting a big bottle of Colonia for Christmas. But his clothes are out of control. He has way more than I do. I, admittedly, have more handbags. We may be tied on shoes.
He’s the one excited about both gift giving and receiving. I’m the one who is indifferent on that front. I honestly would prefer to just spend money doing things rather than buying things….
I identify. I have 2 drawers designated to my collection and he has an ever growing T-shirt collection.
And how do you like Estate Carnation?
Limiting to a cabinet is a good way to collect. And agree, sweaters take up space. Plus, eventually, moths.
Snow day today. Staying home and unmotivated. I was watching a YouTube video, and was inspired to retry my sample of TM Chyprissime. Mostly what I get is Off bugspray. I’m convinced I should like this, and will try again, with less sprays next time.
I tried Chyprissime and can’t even remember why I didn’t love it! But I didn’t.
We got a dusting of snow last evening. Sigh. I’m in a work-friendly amount of Tauer Au Coeur du Desert today. The more I wear it, the more I love it and I think it’s my favorite Tauer. I want to try layering it with Rose Delight one of these days.
Rose Delight is one of my favorite body oils. Doesn’t hurt my sensitive skin at all and the scent is long lasting.
I was happy when I saw the snow, but of course in NYC if its just a dusting its basically never reaches the ground
We were driving when it started to snow, so not as much fun.
RD is a good one!
1) And back in the office! It’s nice to be back amongst other humans! I love my house, and decorated Charlie Brown tree, but there is something about being in an office with other humans,a ll working together.
2) In Velvet Rose and Oud. As it turns out I have a a couple of more sample bottles of these, so I am bound and determined to use them up, then prolly buy a bottle for fall/winter next year.
Velvet Rose and Oud seems to be a perfect winter rose scent, like wearing a dark-pink velvet blazer…
I think this is the first time I’ve heard someone say they love working in an office.
Lots of sandalwood and amber on here. I’m wearing Bois des Isles
Hajuusuri introduced me to that via a decant- BEAUTIFUL stuff!
Box of Eels is the BOMB! ????????
I love this rename of BdI!
Wish I was clever enough to think of it but I think credit goes to Pixel’s hubs. He’s famous and probably doesn’t even know it. ????
SotD x 2 = Eau des Minimes + Hiris. The juicy orange opening in EdM wakes me UP while Hiris proclaims I Mean Business.
So have a gooooood morning, N-S-T! Feeling tired after a busy weekend as I tell myself, “It’s a new day, a new week, time to get moving!”
Hope your Monday is most excellent and everything you shop for is in stock online with free shipping.
LOL! Happy Monday!
Heh, it was an ok Monday. I hope yours was too.
I didn’t recognize you in your new avatar! Pretty bird. And for us last minute shoppers, that’s a wonderful blessing, so thanks ????
The little birdie avatar should last through the spring.
Half twins! I’m wearing Hiris, and just plain loving it. It really sticks around once the weather cools down a bit.
Hi half twin! Hiris was such a treat today I’ll add more this evening.
I wanted to wear Bois des Isles today but I’ve got too much d@mn other product blocking it on the shelf. Some of you may remember I am selling at least 10 perfumes this month and cleaning house…neither has happened yet but I’ve got 3 weeks left and big plans.
So instead of Box of Eels I grabbed an easily accessible sample of McQueen. A big white tuberose floral. Carnal Flower is so lovely and my reference tuberose fragrance that I don’t really seek out others. McQueen seems derivative overall to my nose. Many, many reviews on Fragrantica say it is identical to Truth or Dare which I haven’t smelled but can be found for cheap. I was hoping for something interesting but this is not it.
If you are selling your LPRN, let me know…..????????
That one is not on the chopping block yet I don’t think. I will let you know if do plan to part with it. Let me know if you need more too pls…happy to send some. It’s been quite a hit for Guerlain w/ flankers galore since they reformulated it and did the big release in 2012 or whenever it was.
I have a few things that need to be re-homed too. Did pretty well with the swap meet and some sales on Basenotes. I hate selling on ebay but I may need to bite the bullet.
Yeah I dislike selling as well but I figure somewhere there is someone waiting to love some of my unloved perfumes and I just have to make the introduction…a bit like the Island of Misfit Toys from the Rudolph claymation special…we may be watching too many Xmas specials in this house…
I’m still freezing here so it’s a Muscs Koublai Khan day. Almost nothing else says “cozy” to me like MKK. Today’s task is to find a handyman who can get two sets of closet doors back on their tracks and rolling smoothly. I have wrestled with them repeatedly and have given up.
I hate closet doors.
I’m wearing DSH Rose Vert. Lovely and unusual take on Rose in my personal collection. I like that it lasts a long time but stays close. I can close my eyes sniffing my wrist and imagine myself in the rose garden in Regent’s Park in June. This is my sun replacement therapy for this darkest month. I believe I’ve not seen the sun for four days.
That’s such a lovely scent, and I was really surprised at its longevity given that a) I have scent-eating skin and b) it’s all botanical.
I’m in Chanel 31 Rue Cambon today
Very lovely and grown up!
Such a shame I can’t smell it on my skin after 3 hours.
Good morning hard working elves. I’m just back from a mother/mother in law visit to the big smoke (Christchurch) . Managed to sample El and Ella … Quite good but the 100ml bottle put me off as usual. I ended up going against the grain and bought Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamon which is a pretty, powdery spice…almost a soft floral chai tea. In a sensible 30ml. I also got a pair of bright powder blue Dr Martens in soft leather and am reading Andrei Makine’s A Woman Loved, a novel about a Russian filmmaker trying to do a film about Catherine the Great. So, the sun is shining and today I will try and assemble the driftwood I collected on the drive home into the semblance of a Christmas tree. And work. Happy, busy days.
Powder blue Docs – wonderful! I tried El and Ella, but neither grabbed me on first sniff. I preferred El to Ella, and will try it again. Like you, I don’t need a 100ml bottle.
I preferred El as well. But not to buy.
Ooh, the Docs sound wonderful. I have and love the 30 ml mimosa and cardamom bottle – it’s my best winter scent for a not-very wintry locale.
Your tree will be gorgeous!
That’s been a challenge for me, to find Docs with soft leather. All the ones I find are hard and stiff. Yours sound lovely. The Makine book sounds good, will have a look for it.
I’m wearing that most horribly named of perfumes: Youth Dew.
Tea at the moment is Tazo Cocoa Mint Maté.
I’d not thought about it before, you’re right that Youth Dew is an odd name. Really odd.
It’s a terrible name. Almost like an euphemism for something scrunched up in a hanky in a boarding school dormitory
I never liked the name, but never quite landed on that analogy! I had a bottle many years ago, and it was always an awkward thing to tell people what I was wearing.
HAHAHA! That is great!
Agreed on the name. I imagine the black and white commercial with the 50s housewife and the male announcer with that early commercials voice( and cheesy enough to end up on MST3K). But it does smell pretty good!
Really, perfumers ought to think a bit more about perfume names. I’ve just recently purchased ‘Sex Magic’ from House of Matriarch, which is actually a delicious wood/leather thing, yet sports a name I’m never going to say if someone asks me “what is that perfume you’re wearing?” I’d suggest a simple test: if a 14-year-old boy would snigger at the name, Pick A Different Name.
The name never bothered me. It’s the packaging I dislike.
Really? I quite like the cobalt blue glass bottles and copper labels. If they weren’t hideously expensive I’d buy more. So far I only own Coco Blanc.
I love the blue bottle. Never liked the cut glass one.
I wish I could wear Dries Van Noten but it has what thegoddessrena described as “exploding musk”. Given the choice between being able to. breathe vs smelling good, I chose the former
SOTD = Diptyque Volutes EDP
I wanted to do a full week of sandalwood but really wanted to wear Volutes EDP as it fits the weather. (snow that turned into rain despite the cold). We’re lucky the ground is still warm enough to not ice over. In a way, Volutes could fit the theme if you consider the voyages that inspired it — the ships must have something made with sandalwood!
I tried 4 out of 9 Jo Loves samples and we have a winner even if I end up not testing the other 5 (but I will) — Smoked Plum and Leather –“liquorish” macerated plum, warm spices and leather! The other ones I tried were:
Pomelo – nice grapefruit up top, tenacious vetiver. The grapefruit lasted barely an hour but the vetiver survived make-up wipe and one round of washing with Tecnu (I wanted to scrub it off to try more samples). If I didn’t already have Pomelo Paradis and Sycomore and Demeter Vetiver, this would have been a contender.
– Red Truffle 21: I’m not chi chi enough nor do I cook to know what truffle smells like. This one also has pine and fig and pepper which lasted for < 1 hour. Pass.
– No. 42 The Flower Shop: I had the highest hope for this one but it failed the worst. It smelled like bitter flowers and, as luck would have it, also tenacious and couldn't be scrubbed off.
Volutes!! I swapped for it. That’s what I’ll wear tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder!
I used to think I like the EDT better but I have to say the EDP seems to be blossoming more. I think the trick is to apply lavishly (5 healthy sprays from the bottle).
Surely you aren’t saying that you have enough vetivers? Is there ever enough vetivers?
No, but I wouldn’t be cranky if the name was Pink Grapefruit Vetiver. It’s not like Jo Loves has, as far as I know, asignature vetiver base.
Bitter flowers, hmm. I can see how that might suit me. Maybe. Will still have to try.
I was expecting a slightly sweeter version of Carnal Flower. I will try it again though.
Dries! And geez, Smoked Plum sounds great. Enjoy your new olfactory toys✌????️
I am I am
Thank you for the Jo Loves rundown. Such fun! Your reaction to Pomelo reminded me of trying Eau de Pamplemousse Rose recently. The citrus top was fabulous but there was something in the base that was too much for me, maybe it smelled of something like vetiver, I wish I could remember.
It’s probably Vetiver but then again who knows. I should hunt down my sample or try it in store.
I was waiting for you reviews. I was expecting Smoked Plum to be your fav, and looks like I was right. How is the staying power and projection
Heh! You know me very well. My air space was co-habitated by Calling All Angels so what I can tell you is that is that it is not a skin scent and the longevity is TBD since I scrubbed it off to make way to test the other samples.
You smell yum!
Thank you. I should wear it more often!
I would have had high hopes for The Flowershop as well,if compared to smellbent Florist’s Fridge which is ADORABLE,and strangely enough,Pantone Greenery as a smell to me!
Oooh, I should try my Florist Fridge sample again…I remember liking it!
Just from reading the notes, Smoked Plum is the one that sounded best. Looking forward to hearing about the others!
So far it’s the best although I still have 5 to try.
Did they send you Green Orange & Coriander or Pink Vetiver?
I got both of these, Fresh Sweet Peas, Shards of Cedar and Red Thyme, and White Rose of Lemon Leaves plus the 4 I mentioned above. The one not included but was in the brochure was Mandrin.
I love driftwood. Your tree will be marvelous.
Whoops! Meant this for Kanuka.
It smells really good and some pieces have bits of dry kelp and seaweed attached.
Wearing Anima Dulcis. Because of clarissa, I remembered the other obsession of mine – bags..now I have to sit on my hands! Though the ones I like tend to be available for fairly cheap, in the general bag world scheme of things..but still too expensive for me!
Scent twin. I was gonna wear Box of Eels, but ended up in Anima Dulcis.
Bags, bags, bags – the second obsession for me as well
My daughter is coming home today for winter break (her 2nd year at college…proud mama here). Wearing Kelly Caleche, her favorite scent of mine.
Yay for college kids coming home!!
Mine doesn’t get here until the evening of the 21st, but I’ll be thrilled to see her.
I hope you have a wonderful visit!
Very good morning, all. Last week at work, and I’ve never been happier to see the end of a year approaching. Kanuka, I saw those same Doc Martens, and fell for them instantly. They’re fab! I nearly bought them, but began to wonder about some pink floral ones instead.
I’m wearing the soft golden glow of Fate today–sooooo pretty. It’s a warm scent, which is find because the silly weather has got distracted from doing summer and has dropped back into spring. This thing with irresolute seasons is getting really quite tiresome! Anyway, grumbling over, I smell really nice, and after I get a dreary meeting with the dean out of the way, the day will turn super, because one of doctoral students, graduating tomorrow, has very kindly invited me to lunch with his and brand new baby. Baby’s name is Anahera, which means “Angel”. She’s a serious little soul, very good, which is just as well, because her mama is completing her doctorate as well.
Be well, NST everywhere.
Fate is lovely, but one that I continue to dither over, it’s been on and off my list of future purchases so many times – it’s on the list of possibles at the moment.
Hee hee. Unlike most Docs they are instantly comfy and would be great for galoping around Auckland.
Jo Malone White Jasmine & Mint is my SOTD.
I finally got the Christmas tree decorated last night, now I have to start wrapping presents very soon.
Have a happy Monday all!
Good for you!
It’s good old Dzing! for me today. Wondering about Friday, is Dries a sandalwood scent enough for our challenge?
I say yes! That’s what I’m planning on wearing too.
Gosh, it is to me!
Sort of spring here today, yesterday started off beautifully, then turned totally horrible by lunchtime – I was badly underdressed. Starting off well again today, so will go with Rose Alexandrie, a light rose, sweet, but not too sweet.
Today is so dreary. It’s cold, and grey, and a bit rainy. I have a slight cold, and spent a bunch of the weekend at a memorial service for a friend who recently passed away (at the young age of 40, ugh.)
SOTD is Oriza Legrand Oeillet Louis XV. The sharp carnation/clove is just searing enough that I can smell it and it is bringing a bit of spicy warmth to the day.
Oh, so sorry! That is way too young. And hope you feel better!
So sorry for your loss
I’m sorry for your loss. Speaking from experience, the holidays are a very tough time to lose someone you care about.
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. What a shame that the weather is gross and dreary too.
I’m very sorry for your loss.
Sounds grim, I am so sorry for your loss, which must feel magnified by the grotty weather and being sick.
Very sorry to hear the sad news. Do take good care.
So sorry. That really is terribly young.
Missionista, sorry to hear about your friend’s passing.
So sorry for your loss M. 40 is way too young!
Santal 33 today. It’s spicy! Which is good, as I’v been in a spicy mood lately
I like sandalwood week!!
Each week should be sandalwood week
hah! It often is for me …
Me too/Me too
I have a little decant of this, from before it was their apparent best-seller? I wonder if the current version smells the same?
I will have to take a stroll and find out sometime this week.
Been absent for awhile due to December madness & moving mayhem and today was such a doozy. I forgot not one but 3 appointments! So hurray for this blog and yeah for the L’Atessa sample I got to try today!
You smell amazing!
This morning I wore Lyric before my shower, and that was enough of sweet. I was recently looking through leather compilations, and one of them mentioned Xerjoff XJ 17/17 Homme, which I hadn’t really tried yet. So that’s what I’m sampling now. It seems to be a fairly strong and rubbery leather, basically what I’d expected from Bulgari Black or Etro Gomma. It reminds me of some of the old no holds barred Lanvins, like Pretexte. I’m in the mood for it.
Lyric… Good idea, I’ll probably wear it tomorrow – thanks
Have you tried Parfum d’Empire Cuir Ottoman?
SOTD- Chanel Coco edp.
I wanted to thank and send warm hugs to the all NST girls who gave me advice on where to purchase long and short sleeve tees. As a result my shopping trips were bearable (hate to shop) and I was able to update my wardrobe. I got S/S tees from Gap, L/S tees and a skirt from J.Crew, turtlenecks from Ann Taylor and sweaters from Banana Republic.
I also treated myself with perfume- Hermes L’ADM (travel spray from fragrancenet for $ 20.99) AFTER I told myself that I should be on a NO BUY at least until next spring. Epic Fail! My NO BUY lasted only a week, but at least I didn’t spend too much…
Happy Monday to ALL!
Oh, but nice price!
And small size
Starting to feel the holiday insanity now. So much stuff to do! SOTD is SSS Nostalgie, and it’s scenting the day nicely.
I used to like the insanity, now I am looking forward to my first solo Christmas.Takeout and Cassablanca on dvd.Cannot.Wait.Lol.x
You’d think I’d be wearing sandalwood, since I do like it, but nope, I’m feeling amber-y. SOTD is Teo Cabanel Barkhane (thanks clarissa!) or it was, it seems to have mostly disappeared. Though I’m not making it easy on the poor perfume, seeing as the first thing I did was walk 1.5 miles from the auto mechanic’s to work. It’s kindof nice to move slowly along a route that I usually drive past. Some businesses have quite nice landscaping, if you have time to look at it. The fire department has a gorgeous cactus garden out front. And the redwoods along one road smelled lovely, all damp and evergreen-y.
Fun! It’s nice to get a different perspective of a route we often travel.
You are being very philosophical today, pixel
SOTD!One that will get loads of approval from the gang here:Bottega Veneta edp. But!The whole day I kept thinking this is a dead ringer for something else in my collection, but I cannot put my finger on it.It just struck me now:Marni.Happy Pink(??) Monday all!X
Interesting, I put them in the same class but did not actually think they smelled alike. Will have to try them together.

Really loving the MM Lipstick On that I’m sampling today. I also absolutely adore poinsettias in every color/ variation! When I lived in San Diego, I had the opportunity to tour a massive poinsettia farm north of town. It was amazing!
I’ve never seen any other colored poinsettia but that fiery red,so today’s pink pic was a surprise to me!
There are many varieties with variegated leaves now. I always end up buying too many bc I love them all! Google Ecke Ranch Encinitas. They’ve sold the business but it was an incredible farm/ranch.
Put on some Bas de Soie, but since we are currently having our Week of Winter, snow and all, it wasn’t that good a fit.
Started off with a spritz of Micallef Rouge No. 2 but then added some Tauerville Tuberose Flash. If you are tuberose-phobic this could be a good starter tuberose, it’s actually very soft and not big-white-florally.
