Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating today!

Whether you’re celebrating or not, feel free to talk about anything you like: what fragrance you’re wearing today, what perfume you're especially thankful for, what you’re going to cook or eat today...whatever you like, so long as it doesn’t conflict with our comment policy.

No fragrance yet but I think I’ll continue our cheap thrills theme and honor the season with Tibetan Mountain Temple.

I did a quick cheap thrill with Demeter Gingerale when I got up. About to switch to my old Thanksgiving standby, Theorema :-)

From the mouth of babes… (I’ll come back later with a confession)

Radio host: What is the best part of the turkey?

    Child: The CHICKEN!

Radio host: Where did you find chicken in the turkey?

    Child: The outside.

Have you heard of the experiments they’ve done asking kids to draw chicken? Apparently, kids in cities often draw chicken parts wrapped in plastic, as they don’t associate the meal with the animal. . . wish I could teach a foods and cooking class at my school.

It’s not only kids. I was in the deli section of the grocery store when a young woman ordered roast beef, saying “Is that cow or pig?”

haha I think it’s because people get confused with the word “beef” and “meat” since meat could be any animal. She probably thought about it afterwards and got embarrassed, it has happened to me on similar situations where I think “shoot they must think I am so ignorant”, oh well, you live you learn, that is a life process, there is so much to learn about, in 20 more years you will know a lot more than you did before, even when you are dying you are still learning something new.

I am laughing out loud here. I just remembered a little gem from a few years back, when someone asked for buffalo wings, and didn’t know what she were asking for obviously, as when they arrived she complained to her partner that she’d asked for buffalo, but got chicken. She then went on to say “what’s a buffalo like anyway?” We were sitting in a group of eight around a table and we almost choked with laughter.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
I almost made it through my cup of coffee before my MIL had me “helping” with the turkey. Yuck. I really detest the odor of raw poultry and in a fairly typical twist of fate, my nose isn’t stuffy this morning and I can smell very well.
Once I take my first shower of the day I will be wearing some Taklamakan. I figure that it will bloom nicely in the heat of the kitchen (and flaring tempers) and won’t clash with food smells.
There is a ridiculous amount of food here for six people. We could easily feed twelve or more. I’ve just been informed that 5# of potatoes won’t be enough to go around. I need a drink already, or maybe to finish my coffee.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans! Happy Thursday to everyone else! :D

No fragrance, yet, as I am about to embark on dressing (stuffing for the uninitiated) and roasting a big ol’ bird.

Yesterday was my birthday–39. As I understand it, I stop aging from this point on, yes? ;) Actually, I’m feeling pretty good about 39. The thirties (thus far) have been a far healthier, more empowering, and positive decade than the twenties were. I’m pretty satisfied with the tragectory of my life these days.

Which brings me back to gratitude–I am grateful for good (enough) health, stable employment, having the wonderful Mr. Spicebomb in my life, and having the time and means to enjoy frivolous and beautiful things. Thank you, all, for being a part of it!

Haven’t gotten into the shower yet, so I’m sitting in vintage Bal. I’m going to hop into the shower so I can go to my aunt’s house for Thanksgiving dinner, as much as I don’t want to go. I would rather relax at home. After my shower, I think I will go with either Epic or Beloved today. It’s an Amouage day today.

I had meatballs with beets and horseradish and a friend had the Ukranian meat plate which was grilled Kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, bigos (sauerkraut and smoked meat”stew”)and a couple pierogis. We shared the TG pierogis which were filled with turkey and stuffing and served with cranberry sauce. My other friend had Ukranian borscht with veg stuffed cabbage (kasha, mushrooms, and rice). It’s all very heavy and beige, except for the beets. And I suppose not strictly Ukranian as kielbasa and bigos are Polish, I think or some crossover I suppose. All very tasty, and I throw sourcream on everything.

I’m full, but that sounds great–especially the pierogis. Yes, sour cream goes on everything! There’s a rice-vs-kasha debate for the stuffed cabbage in our family. Alas, I did not inherit the borscht-eating gene.

Discounters like Fragrancenet always run deals. Ormonde Jayne seems to be doing them again, after a few dry years. Looks like I’ve purchased several Malle’s this time of year, but I can’t recall if they were through Barney’s or direct. Decant sites run sales, so if you want a smaller amount, go to Surrender to Chance or Perfumed Court. I also got my best vintage “deal” around this time of year off of ebay–I think folks simply are distracted by other shopping and don’t troll it quite as diligently.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate it, it’s just a plain old Thursday here in the UK and that picture is making my mouth water!
Enjoying a perfume cheap thrill today, ‘Breath of God’, is sprayed on my scarf. i bought a travel spray for a few pounds on eBay. I don’t wear this often but I should, it’s wonderful in cold blustery weather, and rather weird, in a really intriguing way.
Nuit de Tuberose is on my cuffs from yesterday and is now scenting my wrists.
I really love it, and think it will be my first FB purchase in the new year.
I’m doing my own bit of Thanksgiving at the moment, feeling really thankful to be part of this wonderful and generous community, and aware that my life is greatly enriched because of perfume and NST. Thanks everyone!

Likewise a “plain old Thursday” in my neck of the woods in Canada.
Your N de T inspired by cheap thrill choice of the day: Lush’s Lust.

I prefer it’s solid incarnation more so than the eau: the blast of indole is too “funky” to my nose! Thankful I only purchased the min vial.

Happy Thanksgiving, NST! Headed to a feast later this afternoon, so I can’t decide whether or not to wear any scent–may err on the side of caution, since these are newish friends.
Gilt has some AdP and Hermes on sale today, but not much of a discount. Think I’d stick w ebay or some of the other discounters if I were in the market.

Wishing those who are celebrating a happy thanksgiving. No turkey here in the Netherlands, but plenty to give thanks for anyway.
I am wearing the latest essences insensées 2016 (Diptyque). This year is rose, and this is very much a rose soliflore. It sits somewhere between AG Rose Absolue and Diptyque’s Eau Rose, it has a faint spicy note that some roses have naturally, and has a honeyed drydown. It wears long, and worth giving a try if you love rose. Maybe this one would wear better in summer, today I wish it would wear a bit warmer than it does. I will try it a few more times and see if it is FB worthy for me, or maybe the solid will.

I don’t have any solid perfumes at all, except for a couple solid samples, because I don’t like ending up with greasy perfume on my fingers and oily streaks of close-to-the-skin scent, but maybe I’m not giving solids an adequate chance.

I like solids sometimes, when travelling, or when I want no or very little sillage in other circumstances, or when I use fragrance when I go to sleep. I have the essences insensées 2014 which was mimosa in solid (the perfume was no longer available and it is very good) and I love it, also in that way. Hope this helps!

Happy Thanskgiving and/or Thursday-take your pick!

I did a special holiday spin class today for 90 minutes, came home and showered, drowned myself in Amber Flush, and promptly took a nap ????

Now upright again and getting ready to pop my squash and Cornish Hen in le oven. T-Rex is full of beans after napping with me and is ready for the Thanksgiving Walk tonight to see downtown all lit up. Her faborite part is watching the “big dogs” pulling the carriages. She’s entranced by them and watches while doing a dit/stay with her tail wagging at 100 MPH.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day with friends and family. Eat well and stay safe, NSTers!

Happy Thanksgiving, American NST, and happy everything to everyone else yesterday was exam board –yawn– and today I’m on a panel deliberating how to deal with cases of cheating. Oh, the fun that can be had in my job! I’m bouncing off into this excellent activity wearing a cheap thrill: Silk Way. I bought it for NZ$23.45, so it qualifies for the project, but better still, it qualifies for wear because I really enjoy it. It doesn’t smell expensive — how could it? — but it is interesting, pleasant, and even slightly complex. IT seems to sit at some cross-road where gourmand, woods, fruits and florals intersect, but instead of starting with one and developing the others, it does them all at once, rather politely and nicely. Then, as it warms on my skin, it stops being demure and turns into a party girl. Not bad at all for $23!

Happy Thanksgiving, all! Both in AND out of the US. Regardless of the massacre that inspired the holiday, the holiday itself is such a wonderful idea. Je suis reconnaissante de cette communauté des parfumistas avec des coeurs aussi grands que leurs collections des parfums.

Retried Amour Nocturne today, and it smells more magnificent than it ever has before! It must be mixing really well with the scents of Slightly Ripe, Overworked Grad Student and Scotch.

My plan is to be well enough for working Black Friday tomorrow. No sotd for me, yet. Also, I am very grateful for love, life, and laughter. I guess it’s not too surprising that Black Friday caught on without Thanksgiving to precede it. Here, some stores have even begun opening with sales ON Thanksgiving itself. Personally, I applaud the outdoor sporting and camping goods cooperative, REI, which gives its employees a paid holiday on Black Friday so that they can get outdoors. I’ve shown my support by joining and shopping there recently. :)

I’m invited to a Thanksgiving dinner with some people I know and others whom I’ve never met. Normally I’d wear SNM Melograno but it’s smelling a bit sharp to me today. So I’m thinking just a touch of L’AP Traversee du Bosphore instead.

I love the plum-rose of BK Liaisons Dangereuses at this time of year, but I think it’s too dressy for this occasion.

Giving thanks today for NST and perfume friends!

Happy Thanksgiving from Belize, where they call it “Thursday.”

Have been scentless most of the week, in an effort to avoid drawing bitey-stingy thingies. (There is Zika here.) In Iris Poudre today, because I am skipping the waterfall hike that was to follow a 2-hour drive over potholed gravel roads and staying in the guest house, with AC.

Currently bummed, because my laptop chose this morning to die. Am shopping Black Friday electronics deals online. :(

Happy Thanksgiving! I am giving thanks for a day off work.

We’re headed to a friend’s house for a big Thanksgiving do, many friends and many family (and I’m thankful it’s *their* family, not *ours*). Our turkey is ready to go — we do deep-fried turkey, and the tradition is that everyone brings their own so everyone has a whole turkey to take home after. It’ll be a turkey-fryin’-assembly-line all afternoon.

I’m most of the way thru making the elaborate flourless chocolate cake I’m bringing. All the bits are done, just need the cake layers to cool, and then the production number of assembly…. it’s worth it in the end, though. Mmmmmm

In transit to a Thanksgiving feasr with family and friends. My contribution is store-bought pumpkin pie and an assortment of cookies. 30+ usually show up.

I’m saving the confession for when I’m on my laptop…blame it on fat fingers.

Among other things, I I am thankful for this community and for the online and real life friendships coming out of it.

I used B&BW Warm Vanilla Sugar shampoo and conditioner. After my shower, I topped off with a generous drop of Solstice Scents Pumpkin Spice Latte Perfume Oil. So far no complaints from anyone inside the close quarters of the car and if they do, I can alwAys say maybe it’s the Pumpkin Spice Latte I had today :-)

I’m not a huge turkey fan so I’m having king crab (but the traditional mashed potatoes and green bean/mushroom soup side dish). I have been waiting for Black Friday sales because each year I give to the local toy drives for underprivileged kids. Kindle Fires were only $33 so I bought three to donate and I’m still looking for some things for younger kids. We had a thanksgiving supper at my DH’s sister’s house last Saturday so I am off scot free today. :-) Went for a great bike ride – got hit by a stray golf ball while riding past the course but fortunately it only hit the bike causing minor damage and not me.

Started the day in Dzongkha, but have now switched to Rose Delight body oil layered with Incense Rosé.

Thanksgiving dinner was a late one, just me and Mr. Jalapeno. We had smoked brisket, roasted baby potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, broccoli casserole, and onion/sage/giblet stuffing. No turkey this year.

SOTD = a spritz of Mahora from a small decant. Comparing it to my sample of Mayotte.

Oh, that sounds like a perfect Thanksgiving dinner — I’d much rather have brisket than turkey.

Thanksgiving Dinner a great success, good food, family in good health and good spirits, house is cleaner than it has been in six months. :-) Adorable hubby took favorable notice of SOTD = Dame Mandarin, Neroli and Cedar. Now watching old episodes of Sherlock, always a treat. A delightful long weekend stretches before me. I am grateful for the simple things…

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! It was a long but very nice day shared with family and friends. My SOTD was a few sprites of Voyage which was perfect for today’s festivities. I am grateful for this community of wonderful people and so many other things.

I have just spent last 4 hours arguing with a god friend. We started with disagreement about the champagne he brought (he was as expecting a touch of sweetness as was promised to him by salesperson, I thought it was great and extra dry as it should be), followed by directing n our previous employer was taking (me – thumbs down as I am no less never there, he is still there agreeing with the pivot), followed by Other things). Him and my mother are still at it, I am hiding in the kitchen pretending to check on desert. Kids and hubs are hiding upstairs. Need more wine. OMG and they just sent my sister n in the kitchen looking for me!!! Need more WINE
SOTD of s Like This. Really like it

    Hi NSTers!

Today I am thankful that my intense period at work is OVER, and I can come back and actually read NST. I’ve missed you all! Hope everyone is having a good day.

Yesterday was Sycomore, and it was perfect for Thanksgiving cooking and prep. I am traveling to family, and forgot to bring any perfume samples. So am scented with Eau Perfume au The Blanc moisturizer.

Really late…we are visiting family. I’m thankful that we’re all in good health and spirits, everyone getting along. Dinner was great, though incredibly short compared to prep, as always. SOTD was Cristalle. Happy Thanksgiving weekend, all!
