MAC Shadescents ~ new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 22 November 2016 16 Comments

MAC Shadescents

Cosmetics company MAC will launch Shadescents, a collection of six fragrances inspired by the brand's lipsticks: Candy Yum-Yum, Créme d'Nude, Lady Danger, My Heroine, Ruby Woo and Velvet Teddy.

Candy Yum-Yum ~ a fruity floral gourmand with tropical fruit and cotton candy. ["Electric fruits and a shock of pink are at the heart of Candy Yum-Yum. Pink guava gives energy to this iconic M·A·C shade. The contrast of delicate cherry blossom and sophisticated Moroccan iris bring to life the girl who likes what she wants and wants what she likes. The gourmand aspect of the scent makes it irresistible and addictive, with a flourish of pink cotton candy woven throughout and a luscious vanilla to finish."]

Créme d'Nude ~ an amber musk intended to evoke naked skin. ["The nude-coloured pigment of Crème d’Nude Lipstick inspires a scent capturing the vibrant sexiness of clean, radiant, glowing skin. A cocoon of velvet musk envelops the structure of the fragrance, while neroli emits a freshness and luminosity of sensual skin. Texture comes through with a soft butter suede accord that blends pure ambrette seeds with a lip-smooth Madagascar vanilla bean. Universal in its appeal, wearable day, night, everywhere in between."]

Lady Danger ~ a woody floriental with wild cherry. ["A dramatic fragrance, sexy and powerful, inspired by our famed fire engine-red shade. Make a head-turning entrance with a burst of golden patchouli and a touch of exotic saffron. Mouth-watering tangerine leads into a sizzling fusion of tiger orchid and jasmine. Superbly feminine, confident and centered, gorgeous black amber frames the bold floral notes. Once you leave the room, all that is left is the trail of a scent leaving them breathless…"]

My Heroine ~ a woody leather with saffron, incense, smoke and cordovan leather. ["Intoxicating and totally unexpected. A fragrance essence derived from the arresting purple of Heroine and articulated throughout the composition by rich and primal Cordovan leather. A complex of saffron, earthy labdanum and smoky incense illustrate and amplify the leather note. In the back, assertive patchouli and luscious tobacco provide a seductive and sinister finish to this edgy fragrance."]

Ruby Woo ~ a woody floral featuring red leather. ["An arresting rouge-red fragrance inspired by the legendary shade of Ruby Woo. Sultry deep red leather commands attention, while luscious bites of mouth-watering wild cherry pop with rich saffron and pink pepper, making a memorable first impression. A scent of suede violet, Orris Florentine and timeless Centifolia rose adds a hint of floral. Finally, a sensual trail of bold sandalwood and mahogany wood leaves them desperate for more."]

Velvet Teddy ~ with wild honey and creamy musk. ["A silky smooth current of wild honey and creamy musk runs through this oriental fragrance inspired by the sensuality of our Velvet Teddy shade. An opening of bright bergamot and spicy ginger zest is tempered with a rich and sensual tobacco flower. The heart of the fragrance is one of soft golden mimosa, vanilla orchid and an almost edible wild honey accord. A beautifully rendered finish of liquid musk, smoky papyrus root and an addictive infusion of exotic tonka bean make this your go-everywhere-and-anywhere fragrance."]

MAC Shadescents Candy Yum-Yum, Créme d'Nude, Lady Danger, My Heroine, Ruby Woo and Velvet Teddy will be $57 each, size and concentration unknown. They debut on November 30.

The MAC SA told me about these a couple of weeks ago. I’m very excited to smell them. Well, a few of them, anyway.

MAC has done some decent scents over the years — worth a shot!

Oh happy memories of one of MAC’s offerings from the past swept over me – MV3 maybe? Quite dark anyway (and small bottles!) Will check a couple of these out – My Heroine and Ruby Woo.

Yes — small bottles, before everyone else was doing them! Let’s hope.

MV3 was SO GREAT. Selling my bottle as a broke college senior is my single greatest perfumista regret. :(

Need to get my hands on Velvet Teddy! MAC did a very decent honey scent a while back. So regret no getting it.

If Velvet Teddy is anything like MAC’S NAKED HONEY, I intend to give up my holiday lattes for a month! But I do suspect that the “wild” may denote the inclusion of more of floral notes or maybe even a hint of spice?

For me, Naked Honey evoked not so much honey as it did linden blossoms and beautifully so! I just hope that with the new creamy musk, Velvet Teddy retains some of the breezy greenness from its predecessor.

Yes — exactly what I was wondering.

You may like velvet honey but …no it smelled like old dated honey sitting on a shelf and turned rancid to me.

All of these sound really good. Not gonna lie. ;-)

I absolutely loved Africanimal and Wild Honey, and always have a tube of Ruby Woo on hand, too. I wish they’d do a coffret of all six.

Créme d’Nude would probably be the one that I would want. Not to mention, I would want the lipstick to go with it as well. Does it come with it, I wonder or is it just being used to make the bottles look “pretty”?

I know those are special editions of the lipsticks for this collection, but that’s all I know at the moment.

Yep. It’s the best one. Rest are nauseating.

I’m guessing these will be 20 ml since the bottles look the same as the previous collections. Several sound promising. I love Naked Honey and got a few back ups since they never seem to re-issue the fragrances. Yep, a beautiful linden fragrance.

I have gave all these a test and sniff. Creme d nude is the best. I took that creamy clean, soft yummy vanilla home. Now ..candy yum yum smells so nice and tropical blast fruit at first and then sadly it turns very synthetic cheap dry down. Ruby woo ..smells like a new car that had a chemical wash over leather seats and the chemical lingers. Horrible! Velvet teddy is honey but masculine like Tom ford’s tobacco vanille but added with a rancid honey twist. Thumbs down. More for a man. Lady danger is an 80’s floral trying to come bk . Heroine is masculine, strong spiced and a poison gone wrong. Creme d nude is a soft MV2 .and it’s a best choice .

Late reply but I smelled all of these today. Obviously Candy Yum Yum was horrible, like kiwi cotton candy. I was most intrigued by My Heroine which the S.A. told me all the girls hate. I loved it, so I sprayed it on skin. It smells just like walking into a Home Depot with that rush of fresh cut wood. Hours later, it smells just like dark leather and something darkly plummy. Maybe not as phenomenal as some niche scent but at least a third of the price. I might be going back. Oh, and they have samples!

Velvet Teddy was super sweet but smelled like roasted almond marzipan? Lady Woo would be interesting to try on skin too.
