Up for grabs: Ferragamo Leather Rose and La Corte

Posted by Robin on 26 October 2016 64 Comments

ferragamo-give

What is it: 75 ml bottles of Ferragamo Tuscan Scent Leather Rose and Tuscan Soul La Corte. Both have been used lightly for testing.

How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment on the website telling me that you live in the US (or that you can provide a US mailing address). Then tell me either a) your favorite fragrance from a luxury designer collection, or b) the WORST fragrance you've smelled in all of 2016 (so far), or c) something else you've been dying to post in a comment.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! All replies to comments will be deleted!

The contest will be open until noon or so next Wednesday, and I'll announce the winner next Thursday.

The fine print: Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. If the email address in your reader account is incorrect, you might want to fix it. If you are the winner and you fail to send me your mailing details within a couple weeks, I’ll give your prize away to someone else. Sadly, it sometimes usually takes me a month to mail a package. Reasonable care will be taken in the packaging and mailing of your prize, but if the contents are lost or damaged or fail to please you for any reason whatsoever, I’m sorry but I cannot replace them.

I live in the US. My favorite luxury designer scent I’ve sampled this year is Hermes 24 Faubourg. White flowers, woods and vanilla push all of my buttons. Thanks for the draw!

I live in the US. The worst fragrance I smelled so far was Francesca del’Oro collection. Everything turned into a bug spray on me and it took multiple attempts to remove it. After an hour, I ended up using Clorox wipes to remove the traces of that fragrance.

I haven’t smelled anything really awful at the department stores, but plenty of mediocrity.
Can’t remember specific ones, not worth the brain space.
    Thanks for the draw, Robin.

I live in the US and I would love to win these! I’m a fan of both collections……
I would say the worse scent I tried in 2016 was Ex Nihilo Venemum Kiss. It was awful on me. I’m sure it works for some, but definitely was not my thing at. all. Best I tried was Amouage Homage. Gorgeous stuff! Thank you for the super generous draw!

I’m in the US. The worst scent so far is J’Adore! Oddly enough, I liked this when I first tried it, but a few months after obtaining a decant, it suddenly smells awful to me…don’t know what changed. Thanks for the drawing, Robin.
    P.S. Today’s my birthday!

I live in the US. The worst thing I’ve tried on this year was Olympea with its screeching white floral. The worst part: it was a blind buy.

Hi! I’m in the USA, and honestly the WORST I’ve smelled this year has been the new Kenzo World (seriouly great bottle albeit a rip-off of the Dali bottles, but the jus? Gag-worthy), but worse than that was the new Celebuscent by Charlotte Tillbury (no words except “I think I just threw up in my mouth a little!” Gah!)

I live in the US. I will clearly be beaten for saying this, but the worst fragrance I’ve smelled in 2016 is the Chanel L’eau. Maybe my sample is bad? It doesn’t feel like a cohesive, completed perfume to me. On my skin, the dry down falls apart.

I’ve heard positive things about this series. Here’s hoping that I win!

Hello — these both sound very intriguing! I have family in the U.S. (NY or WI) who will happily forward me a prize (I am based in Western Canada)…
Not a typical tale of fragrance, but one funny olfactory anecdote… I teach art in a boarding school, including a senior studio program where the students can get kind of experimental with materials… Last year one student routinely burned incense (I think she incorporated the dust into collages) while wearing a vanilla & patchouli-laced perfume… More recently, a student had singed some sections of acrylic textile in a room where there was a still-life set up with rather ripe lilies… Oddly enough, both of these phenomena triggered olfactory hallucinations of Habit Rouge, perhaps one of my favourite scents I’ve never actually owned a FB of. I guess you can be literally haunted by a fragrance?

Thanks, Robin. I live in the US and the worst fragrance I’ve smelled so far this year was one of the little Pinrose samples I got. It wasn’t horrible in an offensive and off-putting way like other perfumes I’ve tried, but was so bland, obviously rolled out for mass basic appeal rather than any sort of character… It was just depressing and I wouldn’t let my daughter walk out of the house with it on.

I live in the US in NYC, and I am happily wearing my Hermes Bel Ami. I am still on the fence, but the dirtiest one of the Juniper Ride, something Canyon I think, I went out and bought it precisely for the skank factor. I wore it Memorial Day weekend at the beach and have not worn it again since. It truly wears like full on offensive BO and I am not sure when or where I can wear it again, but I do love knowing that it is there in my fragrance cabinet whenever I want to smell like civet/bo on crack.

I live in the US and provide US mailing address.

As for more unique find lately, you won’t believe this. Got a cheap impulse purchase of Trump Success and think somebody pulled an inside trick on him.

It’s essentially a slightly pacified SECRETIONS MAGNIFIQUES from ELDO. No kidding! The metal, the blood, the milky. It’s all there. And there is strong doubt that anybody on the trump decision team had run across it before they started the process of “Make us a new cologne”.

So what do you think happened? Did somebody present it to them without telling the origin and just say ‘we think you might like this formula’? They smell, nod, and go with it??

Very interesting how it could have ended up that way and who knew what when and why.

I live in the U.S. My favorite luxury designer fragrance is Hermes Eau des Merveilles. The worst scent I’ve smelled in 2016 is Katy Perry Mad Love. Walking through Walgreens one day I spritzed it on the top of my hand and, with apologies to anyone who may like this fragrance, can only say it was awful. Another unpleasant fragrance memory of 2016 is the seemingly popular Angel Muse which I, unfortuately, spritzed on my hand when passing through Ulta on a hot, summer day full of errands. Each time I left a store and walked out into the heat to my car it hit me in waves and even after I washed it off in another store I couldn’t get rid of it. I like the original Angel, especially in body cream form in mid-winter, and will give Muse another try – but only on a chilly fall or cold winter day!

As for my favorite designer luxury perfume, Hermes Vetiver Tonka came immediately to mind, but I may like Vanille Galante just as well. (And many thanks to schaf for talking me into getting a sample. It was much more interesting on skin than it was on a card.)
