Up for grabs: Imaginary Authors + 4160Tuesdays

Posted by Robin on 19 October 2016 64 Comments — Comments are closed

Imaginary Authors Slow Explosions brand image

What is it: a 50 ml bottle of Imaginary Authors Slow Explosions (used lightly for testing) + a 9 ml travel spray of 4160Tuesdays Centrepiece (unused).

How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment on the website telling me that you live in the US (or that you can provide a US mailing address). Then tell me either a) your favorite indie niche fragrance, or b) the best fragrance you've smelled in all of 2016 (so far), or c) something else you've been dying to post in a comment.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! All replies to comments will be deleted!

The contest will be open until noon or so next Wednesday, and I'll announce the winner next Thursday.

The fine print: Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. If the email address in your reader account is incorrect, you might want to fix it. If you are the winner and you fail to send me your mailing details within a couple weeks, I’ll give your prize away to someone else. Sadly, it sometimes usually takes me a month to mail a package. Reasonable care will be taken in the packaging and mailing of your prize, but if the contents are lost or damaged or fail to please you for any reason whatsoever, I’m sorry but I cannot replace them.

In Alabama! Indie this year I like Hendleys Bourbon quite a bit. Vert D’Encens by Tom Ford is my top new release that I have to look up how to spell.

    US.
    (b) There’s a woman in my building who goes to work very early each morning. She is carefully dressed — like she put actual effort into it, unlike 98% of people around here — and wears notably tasteful perfumes, mature and “classic.” On Monday morning we rode down in the elevator together and it smelled delicately yet perfectly marvelous in there. In the few seconds before we reached the ground floor I wondered whether I should ask what it was, but not wishing to appear too forward got the better of me. So — my answer, then, is: whatever she was wearing.

I am in the US. The best thing I smelled this year is Taklamakan

  7. Elisa says:

Hi, I live in the US! Fave niche indie would have to be something from Tauer or Sonoma Scent Studios, but it’s hard to pick!

    1. I live in the U.S.
    a. I don’t know that it is the “best” fragrance I’ve smelled in 2016, but the most interesting one I’ve smelled is Galop d’Hermes. That said, I’ve tried wearing it and the first half hour is too rough for me. I think it’s a triumph to create a perfume that really is unique and doesn’t remind me of anything else.

  9. Luna Green says:

I live in the US. My current favorite indie niche is Neela Vermeire Trayee.

Hmmm, difficult to come up with a favorite indie/niche fragrance, so my favorite thing I’ve tested this year so far is SJP Stash. Haven’t decided yet if it is FB worthy or not, will drain my sample first.
As always, thanks for the giveaways! :)

I’m having a hard time pinpointing my favorite of 2016 so far, especially since I often take a while to smell newly released perfumes. I will give the honor to both Bruno Fazzolari + Antonio Gardoni Cadavre Exquis and Masque Milano L’Attesa.

  12. LizzieB says:

I live in the U.S. (NYC). I think my favorite indie is Sonoma Scent Studios right now. No full bottles, but I’ve liked every sample. My sister and niece are big fans of Solstice Scents, so I should try some of those…

Not sure what the best is so far in 2016. It might be Angel Muse.

    Thanks!

  13. Natalya says:

Im in the US. The best I smelled in 2016 is Kilian Apple Brandy because I am currently infatuated with it! And judging from the number of perfumes I own, my favorite house is Rouge Bunny Rouge.

  14. Robert H. says:
    19 October 2016 at 12:57 pm

In the USA, and what a great draw. Interestingly my favorite niche house is in fact 4160Tuesdays. I realized just the other day that I have more bottles of Sarah’s work than anything else except Guerlain and Chanel!

I live in the US, and the best fragrance I’ve smelled so far this year would probably be Ella, though I will confess to liking Mon Paris quite a bit because it reminds me of the original Miss Dior Cherie which I still love.

The best fragrance I’ve smelled in 2016, though not a new one, is Lann-Ael. I’d heard so much about it and finally got my hands on a sample, and it’s the ultimate comfort scent!

I live in the US. Thank you for the giveaway!

  30. Masha says:
    19 October 2016 at 4:09 pm

I live in the US. My favorite niche frags are all ancient history now, in that they came out at least two years ago, and what I want to say the most is that I am either getting too lazy to keep up with all the new niche frags, or that there are too many new ‘fumes for a somewhat lazy perfumista to keep up with! Is that sentence a run-on or does it express exasperation??

  31. jepster says:
    19 October 2016 at 4:26 pm

Hey Robin, I live in the USA and you can use my email. My fave indie is Andy Tauer, and even though it was launched last year I just got to sniff Rose Flash this year and it is awesome! Lucky me, a bottle is coming my way in the swap meet!

  32. tiffanie says:
    19 October 2016 at 4:34 pm

Here I am in the US, thinking that the best scent I’ve smelled in 2016 is Muguet Porcelaine, and then contradicting myself by thinking it has to be Geisha Vanilla Hinoki. I’ll call it a tie.

I live in the US, and you may use my email. The best fragrance I’ve smelled in 2016 is Midnight Fleur by Nest – a blind buy at that. I made the life-changing turn from fruity-florals to amber/woody scents (and sparked an obsession with all perfumes) because of it. Thanks for the giveaway!
