Happy National Chocolate Cupcake Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm celebrating with Thierry Mugler Angel Le Goût du Parfum. Admittedly I smell more like the treat than the trick. Maybe the trick is that I don't hardly smell like an angel?
Reminder: 10/21 will be Trick Friday — wear a fragrance that smells entirely different from its name (or feel free to interpret "trick" in some other way). Suggested by Happy888cat.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
in roses again today
Rose delight body oil and a few dabs of Rose Hedonist
Outfit today is a tank top and shorts! HA! crazy weather but enjoying it
Sounds like a perfect layering mix! It’s crazy warm here too.
Yes, it is positively tropical here in Montreal. Last year on this date it was snowing.
You smell great! SOTD is Greylocke (Phlur).
Ah, how are the Phlur scents?
So far I’ve tried Greylocke and Hepcat, waiting on two more samples to arrive (Moab, and Olmstead & Vaux).
Not sure I’ve worn enough of them to form an opinion on the line as a whole, but I do like the packaging, at least from the pictures I see online.
Greylocke isn’t making much of an impression, it is like many other vetiver-centric fragrances I’ve tried. Hepcat so far is the standout of just the two, but not sure that I’m going to splurge on a full bottle.
Thanks. The names are fun, anyway.
The boyfriend has left France, and I (rather melodramatically, I’ll admit) keep singing to myself, Reviens, reviens, ma bien aimée! Comme une fleur loin du soleil, la fleur de ma vie est fermée loin de ta sourire vermeil.* I spent a while in lab tearing up and trying to find the perfect version of this, which appears not to exist, but here’s Kiri te Kanawa coming pretty close: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN0rQlMQfjI
At least Passage d’Enfer is keeping me company, chosen because there’s nothing dark or hellish about it. (It was just the name of the street l’Artisan Parfumeur used to be on.)
Maybe I should find a chocolate cupcake to cheer myself up.
*Come back, come back, my love! Like a flower far from the sun, the flower of my life has closed, far from your vermillion smile. Yup, overwrought French poetry can be so fitting.
Your line of French poetry reminded me of this e. e. cummings poem:
https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/somewhere-i-have-never-travelledgladly-beyond
So sorry you’re sad! 🙁
Thanks for sharing that poem. It’s very beautiful and thought-provoking!
And thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts <3
Oh, Koyel, I’m so sorry! You absolutely should find a chocolate cupcake! That song is very beautiful. Please take care.
find a cupcake and a nice warm drink
Cupcakes fix (almost) everything! Bittersweet chocolate sounds appropriate for how you’re feeling.
Cheer up! There is nothing chocolate can not fix 🙂 One piece and you will be much happier!
I’m sorry you are feeling such melancholy. But, thank you for the beautiful link. I agree that chocolate in any form should help!
I just spent a year apart from my boyfriend, and it was awful. We go through it if that is any comfort! (I don’t know your whole story.) Here is the poem that was most meaningful to me during that time: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/poems/detail/28891
Oh how poignant! Thanks for sharing that.
My story is pretty simple: I went off to France for grad school while he stayed in the US. We’ve had an ocean and a continent between us for over 2.5 y (he’s in CA), but hope to live together when I finish grad school in < 0.5 y! Now we just have to find a place to do that. Thanks for your encouragement and for the poem.
National Chocolate Cupcake Day? How weirdly specific! I fully expect there to be a National Vanilla Cupcake With Sprinkles And A Raspberry Jam Filling at some point (if there isn’t already).
I’m in a golden haze of Odori Tabacco, which is mostly tobacco and vanilla and is quite wonderful.
Sounds like you smell great????
You smell so good!
Couple months ago I gave a sample of Odori Tabacco to my husband to try- it was such a gorgeous incensy sweet tabacco on him. Too bad it is impossible to find now. I searched discounters and Ebay- nothing!
I think it was discontinued quite a while ago: I found my bottle in a Winners (the Canadian version of TJMaxx) a few years back and it had been repeatedly marked down to a final price of $12.
I can’t think of a replacement for it except maybe Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, which I’ve never tried. Maybe a 50/50 mix of Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque and Un Bois Vanille?
I scored one at Winners too a couple years ago. Nice stuff.
I received a lot of Byredo samples along with my Iris Nazarena gift – Aedes loaded up the hubby’s order with a ton of Byredo samples. So I’m trying out Super Cedar today.
I should’ve saved this one for Friday because I’m getting a lot of rather boring, nondescript musk and very little cedar. It’s definitely playing a trick on me. Plus, I had to spray half the sample on before I could even smell anything. So it’s playing a dirty trick on me.
I hate when you spray and spray and can’t smell anything..its a very bad trick for sure!
Wrong time of the year for summer fragrances; wrong temps for Fall fragrances! I settled on Guerlain Voile d’Ete – light enough for the temps with enough vanilla for the time of year.
It’s also National Meatloaf Day. Now you’ve got an entree and a dessert!
Voile d’Ete is cemented in my brain as a summer scent, but it would also be great for cooler weather, that glow of carnations and vanilla. You know you smell great!
Thank you! I felt the same way you did about it until I sprayed myself on a cool Fall day while making a sample for someone. An eye opener! (or should that be nose…?)
Nice. Voile d’Ete would be good for Indian Summer (which is what we’ve got around here, anyway).
Upper 80s here today. I’m. So. Over. Summer!
DITTO! (Notice the caps, all?????)
Oh, how could I miss meatloaf day???
lol! I only knew because I had my local weather on, didn’t get up to turn the t.v. off, and heard it on the Today Show.
Well, as it happens I have some leftover meatloaf in the fridge, so it all works out 🙂
Testing out my Fruitchouli Flash sample – I wasn’t really expecting to like it but its surprisingly good!
I’ve been scared to try it. 😉
The first 30 minutes is amazing for me – such a ripe juicy peach
It is surprisingly good. Love at first sniff for me.
I’m also in Thierry Muglar today. les Exceptions Oriental Express. This sits so soft on me. I keep thinking it reminds me of vintage Chantilly. I like it very much, but wish I was able to spray more of it.
Twins! I doused myself in this…it reminds me of vintage Emeraude but now that you mentioned it, yes, also a nod to vintage Chantilly…..
And now I can see the Emeraude! I bet this smells even better doused. I’m working with a sample, so I’m being uncharacteristically conservative with my spitzes.
and as I keep sniffing myself I can DEFINITELY see the Chantilly (which I wore a lot when I was in junior high)…wish it came at the Chantilly price 🙂 !!!!!
I wore Chantilly for my wedding in 1975, when I was 19 years old. I haven’t smelled it in decades.
Triplets! You both smell great!
This is my favorite of the line, you smell fantastic.
Even though I have a dentist appointment today, I am wearing Andy Tauer Ingrid. It was speaking to me today. Getting the permanent filling for my root canal today.
Hoping you dental procedures are almost completed. I’m sure Ingrid will be loved by one and all. ????
Ugh, I’m getting more work done next week. Good luck!
FM L’Eau d’Hiver which I think works for any season. It’s light enough with the citrus for warmer weather, but warm enough with the honey-almond thing for cooler weather.
warm weather today!
I know and I think I overdressed for today!
Twins! Though now I’m testing Olfactive Studios Lumière Blanche. It’s OK but I much prefer L’Eau d’Hiver and its lovely soft almond.
Hey twin! I’m not sure I’ve tried LB, but it seems to get a lot of love.
SOTD is Hermés Vetiver Tonka, one of my stalwart summer companions. There is a rumor of cooler weather headed my way this weekend, so I’m holding fast to that hope. If it does turn into a reality, I will be depressing the spray mechanism of some fumes that have been hibernating the whole summer in the crisp depths of my fridge. It’s the small things that make me happy. Although, that being said, I certainly wouldn’t mind a BIG lotto win ????
Happy almost hump day to all!
It took me a while to “get” Vetiver Tonka…now that I like it mylarge spray sample/decant is gone….moving on to other lovelies 🙂 !!!
I have the travel size that I got in a recent splitmeet which is rapidly dwindling. I do like it a lot but not enough to ever buy a FB. The travel size has been quite nice and happy this was an option, of course wishing more brands offered this. Like you, I will be moving on to other lovelies as well.
In my continued exploration of blackberry scents, I am in Mure et Musc Extreme today. I had high hopes that it would please me dramatically more than it’s weaker original, worn yesterday. Alas, not so. Consider me tricked, L’Artisan. I shall stick with Jo Malone for my blackberry needs from now on.
I’m on your side: I just don’t get Mûre et Musc in any of its formulations, beloved though they are.
Philosophy makes a nice blackberry fragrance (the name escapes me but it has the word love in the name…Falling In Love?) smells good to my nose, is a great price and you could get a free sample of it at Sephora…just sayin’……
Yes, it’s Falling in Love and it’s weirdly wonderful!
Olympic Orchids Blackbird has a strong blackberry note that is balanced by pine.
SOTD is Coromandel. I can’t seem to get enough of this one lately.
You smell fantastic!
Luxuriating (not a word spellchecker? ) in the glow from a long warm shower after a long sweaty workout
Old Spice Classic Scent Body Wash- if your Grandfather hadn’t worn it, you wouldn’t exist!
Says so right on the bottle!
LOLOLOL
Random b@$ch o’ the day.
Why does my mesh shower scrubber thingy have a loop handle the same color as the mesh ?
So I can’t find it when I’m blinded by shampoo?
LOL
😉
Carpe Diem y’all! 😀
I know! And why do the bottles have “shampoo” and “conditioner” in teeny tiny little print? Am I the on ly one who doesn’t wear their glasses in the shower?
I once stayed at a hotel where the toiletries were so cryptically identified that I put lotion in my hair instead of conditioner.
I finally broke down, got a black felt pen, and marked a large C and S on each tube to differentiate. Not only are the fonts tiny but metallic, to further frustrate. Then there’s the problem of caps that don’t come off and just a tiny opening, making it difficult to get every last molecule out. I do water the products down and keep the tube upside down but it has something to do with the air inside so I have to squeeze and squeeze. There has to be a better way/ designer!
You all make me chuckle !
I really like that Old Spice Classic body wash, and buy it for my husband alll the time. (Champion’s nice too.)
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
You smell great!
31 Rue Cambon, I’m treasuring my decant, it’s so beautiful for this time of year. I Enjoyed catching up on the weekend poll yesterday, this is my ‘aspirational’ perfume , for when I need to feel more polished and put together than I actually am, pure elegance in a bottle!
This is definitely the best perfume – in my opinion!
31 RC made my “aspirational” slot as well, for the same reasons. You smell great.
You smell lovely!
You smell fabulous!
Tenera by Rouge Bunny Rouge today. Smells so yummy.
Tom Ford Vert d’Encens for me. Off to go to the spa for a reiki treatment and a soak in a hot tub. I’ll probably follow that with some time at the MFA
I sniffed this one and need to get a sample. You smell great.
Definitely envious of your day!
If the 3 Verts I was most impressed with this one. Enjoy your day at the spa!
Wearing my last drops of Prada Infusion D’Iris. Another full bottle that I finish this year and I feel so good about it. Will I miss it? Yes, since I love it. Would I get another full bottle? Yes, but not any time soon. I still have to go thru so many other full bottle scents that I own, not counting minis, decants and samples. But Infusion D’Iris for sure is going to my buy list once again.
Happy Tuesday Everyone! I’m just getting back into town after an “extended weekend”. I went down to New Orleans this weekend to check on my boyfriend and to try and keep his spirits up. He’s doing okay considering all that he has been through. It was really difficult leaving him. We are both feeling the distance and will probably be making some “life – changing” decisions really soon. I miss him already.
My SOTD is Blackberry & Bay by Jo Malone. He really likes this one on me, so I wore it to make me feel a little bit closer to him.
I’m glad to hear your bf is resilient. Hope the perfume helps with the distance – at least for a while.
So glad he’s doing alright in such tough circumstances.
Aww, you’re also suffering from a long-distance relationship? We’ll get through this with perfume and community 🙂 (Unless there’s more to the tough circumstances, in which case I don’t mean to presume knowledge.)
Sycomore today, which is lovely even though it doesn’t smell like a sycamore. If someone made a true western sycamore perfume, I’d buy vats of it!
SOTD: Daisy Dream.
I had the most incredibly nice scent memory/flashback last night! One of my grandmas always wore Chanel No 5, and I never thought I liked it on my own skin. Something about it just didn’t work for me. BUT…I decided to explore the scent again, and found a 1.7 oz bottle of the EdT for $20 on Ebay. (95% full at least!) The EdT is sooooo good!!!! I was immediately transported back to my grandma’s dressing table, where I would play with all her lipsticks and costume jewelry. It was so good to get a hug from my grandma again! She died 20 years ago, and I still miss her (and all my grandparents!) so much. #Blessed 🙂
Beautiful memories. Enjoy No.5.
I miss my Grandma also, I spent my summers with her growing up. My son is actually born on her birthday, which takes a bittersweet day for me and turns it into a true celebration of life and love.
I am so glad you are having this beautiful scent memory.
My grandmother wore several really nice fragrances but the scent that brings me back is Biolog shampoo! She always used that in the shower..
Lovely memory 🙂 .
Yay! I love scent memories, especially of No. 5.
I’m wearing Montale Boise Vanille. Major trick! It’s not the sweet woody vanilla you’d expect, something like SL Un Bois Vanille. It’s more like a dry masculine lavender with some vanilla — reminds me of some of the masculine Carons.
I did some decanting this morning, so I smell like a bit of everything. However, the scent I intentionally put on this morning was OJ Taif. Lovely as it is, I’m glad I’m not moved to buy this, as I did a bit of damage shopping yesterday. 🙂
I love that smell, there should be a perfume called “a bit of everything.” I would wear it while eating an everything bagel.
Today I spritzed on Guerlain AA Gentiana–grassy green citrus with fruity pear and a dry tonka musk in the base. Very nice and so different from what Guerlain makes now.
I am drinking a mug of MF Montagne de Jade–tropical fruit and flowers. This batch is very fresh–I may need to cut it with some other green tea.
I am on the tea prowl, now that I finished one of my black teas (french breakfast) and I am finishing up a green tea. How is Montagne de Jade?
It is one I get regularly–it is very fruity and sweet. It is strongly scented, too.
It’s National Chocolate Cupcake Day, and what am I wearing? Chocolate cupcake crumbs, of course, plus a teensy spritz of Angel Muse. This scent is stretching my Angel-tolerance in the easiest, nicest way.
Have a terrific Tuesday, NST people. And a cupcake. You deserve it.
Hey cousin!
I chose Bucoliques de Provence by L’Artisan Parfumeur. I was thrilled after Ari told me about this perfume. Last week I finally got a sample and today I’m wearing it first time for a full day.
It’s great but on my skin it’s really transparent and first 1 hour has that sharpness (from leather I guess) that is not as pleasant as it could…
Wearing a touch of MFK Aqua Universalis Forte over AU body lotion. It lingers enough for me and should be fresh but not ” fragrant” for an appointment.
I can’t say it better than Bear, above concerning his scrubber, about the medical office I was sent to this morning. The manager told me I couldn’t see the doctor my doctor sent me to because I’d seen someone else in the group previously, and that she was being so accommodating for shipping me to another office to see that doctor!!
I would have loved to spray Secretions Magnifiques at her!
Ugh, sometimes people are the worst. I hope things move forward for you on the medical front. 🙂
Profumum Meringa for me today. I really like this (jasmine-y vanilla – I don’t get much lemon) and find it esp good in spring and fall.
I’ve been happily decanting and making packages for my swapmeet friends but back at work now.
Meringa is lovely, wish it had a touch more lemon but I really enjoy it.
I’ve got to try this one of these days.
SOTD: MMM’s Lazy Sunday Morning.
Smells like clean white soap and laundry detergent. Nothing lazy sunday about this. 😛
More like annoying Tuesday afternoon laundry?
I went perfume trying this morning so I am wearing a mix of several scents. Coromandel edp on one hand, Sycomore edp on another, Portrait of a lady cream somewhere and also Hermes Muguet porcelaine.
Wow, you tried some good ones! I wish I had a store near me that carried these scents.
So did you buy any of them?
No, I didn’t, I just got samples
Did they receive the edp’s at Holt Renfrew then? Great news!
Yes they did
Which Holt’s, all of them?
I’m wearing a violet soliflore oil I picked up at the Renaissance Festival over the weekend. It’s from a company called Opinicus Soaps from Denver, CO. It’s simple (and I doubt it’s as natural as they claim), but it smells good.
I’m doubtful too as I don’t think you can extract oil from violets?
I had a “violet” isolate which is basically a bunch of e.o.s combined to emulate the smell of violet…. I used it to make my own essential oil perfume along with violet leaf, cassie, orris butter, bitter almond and numerous other e.o.s…….and yes, it does smell like a violet perfume….
It is 25 degrees on October 18th. This is Canada, people!!?? I’m wearing Byredo Oliver Peoples.
Thanks for the warning, now I know what my weather will be like soon!
Same here in Montreal, it was snowing on this date last year.
I need some advice. I found a bottle of Songes at a really good price, but I have never tried it. It gets a lot of love on here, but those of you who have it, do you think I should risk buying it unsniffed?
Probably depends how you react to white florals and musk. It’s beautiful, but if you’re ever sensitive to either could be dangerous!
I agree with Elisa. I thought I should love Songes and I really don’t. So I’m wary of buying there unstiffed beyond a small decant.
Thanks, good to know!
White florals? ????
I like the white florals, it’s the musk that I just can’t smell.
SOTD is Comptoir Sud Pacifique “Bois de Filao”, which has inadvertently fulfilled the ‘Trick’ theme by being nothing more than an explosion of pink pepper with no lasting power.
National *Chocolate* Cupcake day indeed. I imagine that’s the chocolate splittists at it again? Before you know it we’ll be divided into tiny factions promoting National Vegan Chocolate Cupcake With Recycled Paper day, and then the Unified Front of Donuts will make their move and all will be lost. Wake up people! :^D
Are you actually diss-ing National Chocolate Cupcake Day? Listen, if you want to live on the edge and eat a lemon one, no one here is going to report you. 🙂
????
LOL! But hey, no political talk 😉
Any resemblance between the Unified Front of Donuts and the living politician that the phrase immediately brought to my mind are entirely accidental, I assure you.
Ha!
Let them All eat cake…
????
SOTD (again): Orchidée Vanille
AC is pumping again in the office due to the heat outside 🙁
I’m back to be wrapped up in a blanket and hot tea all day long.
How is OV?
It’s very pretty. I like it a lot. I’d like a little more staying power, but it’s not bad. It’s one of those sweet without being cloyingly sweet vanillas. I don’t get much floral, but that’s fine by me.
sounds like its right up my alley then-I love vanilla
Grrr! (and brrr!) Why must offices be like walk-in refrigerators? I found a great space heater a few years ago that manages to heat only the cubicle where it’s placed and meets safety standards. I don’t know that I could work somewhere that didn’t allow space heaters. I can’t work when my hands are turning blue and locking up from the cold.
Some of my colleagues have them. I’m going to see if I can get one as well. It’s really so uncomfortable.
I highly recommend the Vornado brand. It heats the air around you rather than blasting blistering heat at your ankles 😉
Aedes de Venustas Signature from the most recent splitmeet.
The only trick I can think of is that you may not expect that a company would dare to propose such a fun fragrance as a signature (and their first) scent — kudos to AdV!
And I still need to try this next to CdG Rhubarb.
Vetiver Fatal, another one from the back of the cupboard and this one is a keeper. I like the little surprise of the dry bracing Vetiver against a backdrop of sweet plum.
Trying Romanza for the 2nd day in a row. Very tempting, and what makes it even more so is the smaller ml size: fickle perfumista-friendly. Has anyone ever ordered cashmere sweaters from Pure Collection? Any better than Lands End/LL Bean, etc?
Have not ordered any cashmere from Pure Collection, but ordered Cashmere sweaters from Everlane and am very happy
Gah, so I need to try Romanza now.
You do!
having tried it myself I will concur…YES, you most definitely do!
SOTD is Dior Cuir Cannage. It’s extra spicy today – not a bad thing at all. 🙂
SOTD is L’ Artisan’s Dzonghka.
Ooooh chocolate cupcake day–as if I needed an excuse to eat chocolate cupcakes! I’ll have to find one later. I’m wearing Une Rose Chypree this morning, Andy Tauer is coming to Fumerie next month so I will get to meet him.
That’s exciting!
He is so nice. Wish I could go to Fumerie! Alas too far away.
SOTD = MFK Ciel de Gum
So unless you know the back story, you’re scratching your head as to what Sky of (Bubble)Gum” is, let alone what it smells like. It’s a trick because as it turns out, this is a contrast in peppery spicy with cuddly amber vanilla musk. I’ll summarize it as cuddly elegance. This was named for the G.U.M. department store to see and be seen in Moscow where you can spend your hard-earned rubles.
If you are into fabulous fragrances, you have to try this! I ordered my bottle from the MFK Paris boutique.
It is a really amazing fragrance. I was surprised it was named after that department store – when I was growing up in Moscow it was empty shelves and all. I guess things have changed.
I wonder if he had ever been there to be so inspired. I really do think it is a superwonderful perfume!
I believe that I have you to thank for smelling so wonderful today 🙂
yw….you smell wonderful!
Temptation, thou name art Hajusuuri!!
heee!
SOTD – Larmes du Desert. I am spending this week in the splits that I run. Enjoying it very much. No tricks here.
You smell wonderful! If only Larmes du Désert came in smaller bottles…
I know!!! I ended up putting it up for a split because I do not need 100 ml of anything
That’s what we all say. Thank God for swap and split buddies!
Timbuktu today, although I applied it in a more diffuse way than normal so I’m only catching the edge of it sometimes when I turn my head.
You know, I have a bottle of really bad wine at home, perhaps it would be put to better use in chocolate cupcakes.
SOTD is Bottega Veneta Essence Aromatique. It is pretty warm here for the time of year, but the lime opening and soft patchouli works in the heat and still feels fall enough to me.
It’s hard to beat Robin’s Monday pick, Hermes Vanille Galante, as a Trick – vanilla and LILY?!?
Some possibilities:
S-Perfume 100% Love – chocolate and rose; also a treat, but such a surprise!
Pd’E Tabac Tabou – WTF – horse’s neck? or…
Cartier L’Heure Fougueuse (IV), or Treisieme Heure – that horse mane accord!
L’AP Dzongka or Timbuktu – who but Duchaufour could ever have imagined them?
Etro Anice – anise from top to base note
All the weird CdGs, but especially the ones in the misshapen bottles.
😉
You forget L’AP Voleur de Roses in which the thief really did steal the roses! 🙂
You’re right – that’s funny! 😀
Nice list!
I’ve said before; I repeat: the US gets the best (and strangest) National days. The very idea of a cupcake day, of any persuasion, is enchanting! Enjoy deliciousness, all those who can.
Today I have no idea what to wear, either sartorially or olfactoryily (are either of those words, and do I care if they are not?). It’s awkwardly between seasons here: the wind is cool and sometimes cold, the sun is sometimes warm; winter won’t quite surrender and summer won’t quite resolve to arrive. Stupid weather! I want to wear tropical colours and Cristalle, but that would look silly if a squall comes through. I just dunno.
Half an hour later: now have a SOTD: Lyric, mainly because I couldn’t bear my indecision for another second. It has the absolute merit of crossing seasons, so that’s all good. Clothes remain a complete pickle, though. I wish very much I could go to work in my dressing gown!
Lol.I wish I could go to work in my pj’s as well!!
I just posted something similar. Lyric was a good choice.. This weather is impossible. 🙂
Well in South Africa today it was more pre-fall rainy weather than the late Spring we’re supposed to have!
Bizarre weather here too, Lyric sounds great!
I think as long as you’re wearing Lyric, you really could go in your dressing gown! But, yeah, probably not a good idea… ????
Trick and treat for me today in Lush Kerbside Violet. Sweet violet candy and then bitter violet leaf. Look Ma, I morphed into a chypre! Also, if you are a lavender lover, check out Lush Sleepy Hand and Body Lotion and Sandman Dusting powder. In other news, I see what all the Rose Jam fuss is about. Used it today and it is quite delicious.
Ooh, thanks, need to swing by Lush this week to check those out.
I like the meatloaf-day idea though!????
SOTD!smell bent Florist’s fridge.It’s a fantastic treat.Frozen hyacinths and greenery.I like.
I really love that florist’s fridge smell and have a 4 ml mini of this scent. Fun!
I can see it becoming a Spring/Summer favorite!
I blew through a 4ml of Florist’s Fridge in no time, and promptly bought another one. Good stuff.
Loving the smell bent range more and more as I go through my own 4ml vials.
I have a few myself and they are fun 🙂
For the last few mornings I stare first into my clothes closet and then into my perfume cabinet. I’m having a hard time figuring out what to wear with these crazy warm temperatures. I finally decided on PdN Kiss Me Tender today. The almond, marshmallow and hay seem to be working so far.
That’s a pretty one.
It’s sunny today in Southern CA, I am in a cozy spray of Gendarme pour homme (very unisex) as a base and Lolita Lempicka on top. Love this site!!!
Is this your first post? If so, hello!
I had a travel-size Gendarme scent ages ago, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. Now I’ll have to go see if I can figure it out…
Welcome! It’s ages since I’ve seen Gendarme mentioned anywhere.
Feel so worn out – my baby kept me awake all night. The weather is weard for this time of year- gloomy, windy and … so warm (75F outside). Decided to wear Chanel 28 La Pausa- delicate and elegant, just right, any of my cold weather scents would bother me today.
Sounds like a good day for a nap. I hope one comes your way.
Thank you Tiffanie, it turned out to be a day to run errands and do some house chores. 🙂
Babies will do that — get some rest!
Hopefully tomorrow I will 🙂
Mad Madame for me today, it’s quite a sharp rose and it makes me feel quite sharp and focussed too! Just the thing for tne middle of the week.
That’s an odd one but I like it too. Smells almost metallic.
You smell gorgeous, Gaynor. The seat of government is lucky to have you improving its ambience perfume by perfume!
Mad Madame really is fantastic.
Wearing Poudre de Riz today since it’s so warm out and this is so cozy without needing cold weather.
It’s my 19th anniversary today, and the husband and I are heading out soon for one hour reflexology appointments in the village. We’ve been sitting on gift certificates since last Christmas… unsure re dinner, but we will figure it out. I’ll suggest to him we go somewhere with meatloaf and cupcakes.
Hi, twin! Happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary!
Pretty! Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
National Chocolate Cupcake Day!?! And meatloaf? Two of my favorite things!
SOTD is Mugler Les Exceptions Oriental Express.
Smelling good 🙂 !!!!
Gorgeous.
Am in Hutieme Art Poudre de Riz. This could have been a good pick for Friday except I sprayed the last of my decant (which was sent to me by a lovely NSTer – thank you!) I don’t get much powder, or rice, or rice powder for that matter, but I can see a bit of a cosmetics reference. I’d put it in the same category as 2 other recent discoveries, YSL Cinema and Ginestet Botrytis, although I’m not sure exactly what that category is. Honeyed fruits and flowers with a trace of powder, perhaps? A large decant is definitely in my future.
In other news, I managed to sleep through the night without waking up hacking my guts out and could even breathe through my nose when I got up. Hopefully I’m on the road to recovery here, *crossing fingers*
Yes, just being able to breathe through your nose is a major victory at times! Hope you recover asap!
It is. Thank you!
Yep, twins! Probably the same kind NSTer for me too. Glad you are better.
Finger’s crossed.
Palissandre d’Or today… it smelled a bit masculine when I first tried it, but now I’m hooked.
I bet you smell fabulous.
Whenever I encounter a fragrance with palisander rosewood it immediately calls to mind the smell of the old Dior Eau Fraiche, a perfect citrus and palisander plus oakmoss. That one leaned a bit masculine, too, but it was a great scent.
Wow, that is really interesting. I discovered Dior Eau Fraîche on a trip to France in 1998 and bought it on the spot. It didn’t occur to me to make that connection. I am going to compare them side by side and see if I can smell those notes. Thanks!
Strange Invisible Perfumes Epic Gardenia.
Packed up some swaps today, and turning extra samples into lampe berger fuel, so I smell like, “a little bit of this, a little bit of that…”
