By now you've probably noticed that it's Monday again? It's also International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. (And, the swapmeet is still going strong!) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Vanille Galante, which is not so much about the vanilla.
Reminder: 10/21 will be Trick Friday — wear a fragrance that smells entirely different from its name (or feel free to interpret "trick" in some other way). Suggested by Happy888cat.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: The Hermès silk scarves are called Brandebourgs (left) and Les Confessions (right), $175 - $1100 depending on size.
Balenciaga Homme for a Monday. Gorecki’s Symphony of Sorrows on the playlist.
The first time I heard that symphony on the radio, I was driving and immediately turned around, went home, called the local station and asked WHAT that excruciating lovely music WAS (pre-cell phone mania)?! I have 2 versions of it, both outstanding in their individual ways. Glorious music! BTW, you smell great ????
I saw it performed as a combo of Symphony, opera and ballet. It was incredible. When I read the story of the 2nd movement and the lament I was stunned. Moved to tears.
Oh my, you lucky, lucky man! And yes, tears for me too.
Do you know what brave soul choreographed it, by chance?
You smell AWESOME!
Ah, Gorecki! Beautiful…
I’m wearing Perles de Lalique. I find it difficult to wear this one except in cooler weather. Unfortunately it is supposed to reach 90 degrees in my part of Texas.
90! We are supposed to get into the 70s, I think, which is weird enough.
We often have warm Octobers. Heck, I’ve had many a Christmas where I was wearing short sleeved t-shirts.
La vie in rose: Tauer Perfumes Rose Delight Body Oil ( I may have to find something similar since I can’t find this in the US, any suggestions?) A few spray of Rose De Petra (all from generous NST’s)
Oolong tea and I through in some dried rose petals.
Two beautiful roses! It’s pretty easy to order RD from his website-with shipping it cones out to around $30 and shipping is fairly quick.
Guerlain Habit Rouge Dresss Code remins me of it somewhat. They don’t smell exactly the same but the Guerlain has the rose+sweeter base thing going on. It’s more masculine and more perfume-y and took a few tries to grow on me.
Oh, I agree on ordering direct from Andy’s website: easy-peasy, not that expensive.
I order all the time direct from Andy’s website–never a problem and fast shipping. Many times its faster than USA companies. I may have to order more!
+ 1 for going directly to his website. His shipping is impeccable
A lot of his stuff drop ships from his distributor’s US warehouse, so it does come quite fast.
OK, I don’t see the body oil on the website-was this a limited addition?
ah I found it!
OK! Well that is wonderful news!
Tambela Spiral.
I rarely use all-natural fragrances, but this is basically a classic eau de cologne so it works pretty well. Not sure if this one has ambergris tincture or not, but lets pretend it has so I can feel more precious wearing it.
Happy to pretend, since I don’t know the product anyway 😉
I’m wearing Ormonde Jayne Vanille d’Iris. It does smell of iris and vanilla, but it also smells unexpected somehow. I’ve worn it for two months now and I’m still surprised by it, for some reason. In a good way 🙂
Nice recommendation! I will look for this…
I’m wearing Edward Bess Genre. I’m not picking up the “living stallion” note;)
I’m wearing the last of my Fille de Berlin, which smells nothing like any girl from Berlin that I’ve ever smelled, and wondering why I’m on a stupid no-buy that is keeping me from buying more of that gorgeous scent.
Robin, thanks for organizing the swapmeet 🙂 It’s been nice to catch up (kind of!) with people I’ve swapped with before!
Your brain is probably telling you to buy some. “Just this once”, it’s wheedling. We’ve all been there.
I’m also on a no-buy (I think I bought three things this year, two vintage, all very cheap), but if I ran out of a necessity or found something I couldn’t live without, you know what I’d do.
Congratulations on adhering so well to your no-buy! I’m convincing myself I can live without Fille de Berlin because I’ve got lots of other very nice rose scents, but it’s hard.
Glad it’s fun!
You smell great! With luck, it will still be here once the no-buy is lifted.
I would just go for it!
its a rose perfume like no other
Enabler! Lol!
You smell great!
Feminite du Bois the Shiseido EDP.
Summer to return for a few days in suburban Philadelphia.
Welcome back, I’ve missed you.
😀
Supposed to hit 87 in Atlanta this week! WOOT WOOT!!!! 🙂
LORD. How do you bear it? When I had my internship in Savannah it was during the summer, and I thought I would die. Fortunately, I was in labs most of the day, and went out during the night (Savannah is magical during the night).
It is expected to be 90+ for 5 days here, and I do not like it.
You smell great, Bear!
The original..so jealous
I love the original FdB. It is so gorgeous!
I’m so jealous, on both counts, u smell amazing of course!
It is great, and might fit this week’s theme, in that I find it not a bit gendered…
Yes, the name seems the antithesis of the aroma in terms of gender.
The original! ????????
Thanks for the <3 Everyone !!
SOTD is Tiziana Terenzi Gold Rose Oudh. It’s gotten warmer but damp and clammy here; yuck! I wish it weren’t Monday so that I could just go back to bed.
The last of a sample of Le Voyageur Indiscret by L’Antichambre. Very spicy, very cedary, inexplicably drenched in lavender. Every time I’ve tried it I’ve thought, well, I probably wouldn’t own a bottle, but then I keep sniffing my skin over and over again….
I’m in vintage Le Dix today, and trying to convince myself that I’m enjoying the rain. Usually I do, but this weekend brought the fringes of a typhoon to my area and we had rather more rain than we usually get in the Pacific Northwest in October. Remembered slightly too late to bring the little cactus garden indoors. Eep.
I’m going to savor the almost summery weather this week. I’m in Parfums Quartana Hemlock which was my “no-brainer” pick du jour.
I enjoyed the swap and am looking forward to giving and getting some lovelies!
After a “weekend warrior” 2 days of laundry, painting, window washing, dusting, and general Cinderella action, I MIGHT be glad to be back in the office! HA HA The works never ends, does it? 🙂
SOTD: Insolence EdP. I bought this over a year ago, and have only worn it a couple of times. The top notes screech on my skin, but the drydown is lovely…..Learning to appreciate it!
You smell fantastic!
Very bubblegum/floral on my skin. Strong and divisive, I love it!
I haven’t worn mine in a while, either. Something about it makes me think it needs to be paired with a black latex bodysuit, ala Catwoman. That should’ve been my aspirational scent!
I really love Insolence EDP but only wear it in cold weather.
Well done on you’re Cinderella like endeavours!- my house definitely needs some of that.
I love Insolence edp, I’m keeping an eye out for a small well priced bottle on eBay. U smell gorgeous!
Today I’m enjoying NVC Rahele and I literally keep smelling my wrist every 10 minutes. It’s so good!
Please tell us more about it!! I’m so excited to try it someday!
Please check my blog tomorrow for a review
Ooh, looking forward to the review!
Oh I can’t wait!
I was really excited about it too
Is it already hitting the stores in Europe?
Should be appearing soon I guess
FM L’Eau d’Hiver! I’ve been wearing this for several days now, and it seems this will be the one to turn me into a FM fan. To me it smells of summer, so it works for this week’s project?
Robin, you smell great!
As do you! And I think Hiver came up earlier this year in the misnamed fragrances project.
Ha! I probably wasn’t paying attention to it then as I only now realized how much I like it. But I am glad I remembered you saying that FM goes bad quickly, so, by trying to salvage my stash before it is too late, I found this beauty.
Whaaa? FM perfumes go bad quickly? Do I need to start spraying with wild abandon now?
I have had a couple go bad — I know En Passant was one. I dont’ think I ever said they all go bad quickly!
Sorry, Robin! I didn’t mean to imply that you said anything categorically about FM fragrances, or open any sort of controversy. My point was only that what you said was helpful in making me discover L’Eau d’Hiver 🙂
Oh, don’t apologize!
Was thinking that after some months, En Passant used to turn bright orange — that happened to many people, not just me. Would not be at all surprised if it no longer does that since almost nothing on earth has not been reformulated. So other peoples’ reports about which fragrances turn and which don’t might not be all that helpful anyway!
I have not had any FM scent go bad and this is the first I’ve heard of a problem.
Phew!
Today I’m wearing Chanel Cuir de Russie. I think it’s my ultimate comfort scent.
We lost out beloved sheltie, Jackson over the weekend. We knew it was coming , but still so heartbreaking. He was such sweet boy. Not a mean bone is his body.
Trying to get back to normal today.
I am so sorry about your sheltie. So sad, no matter how expected.
So sorry. Not easy ever, even when you know it’s coming. Big hug.
So sorry about the furbaby.
It will have to be a new normal, and that is hard to get used to. Hugs for you.
So sorry for your loss–it is so hard to say goodbye to those who love us so very well.
I’m so sorry! I hope you’re doing ok
I’m so sorry to hear…..take extra care of yourself today!
Baroooooooooo! for Jackson.
Hugs for you.
Sorry about your dog. We lost our dog 6 years ago, and I cannot bring myself to get another one.
I am so sorry about it. Sending you hugs.
🙁 All dogs go to heaven.
Oh no! So sorry!
I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved doggie. Sending you fragrant hugs!
So heartbreaking. Sorry for your loss. Our pets add so much joy to our lives..
So sorry it was your sweet boys’ time to leave you .
So sorry to hear this, losing pets is so tough.
I’m so sorry to hear that.
My sympathy on a very difficult adjustment, Barqs. He sounds like a real sweetheart.
So sorry for your loss. I was given a sheltie when I was little and she was the most patient, friendly, loyal, and willing dog I’ve ever known.
Thank you all for the kind words. It has been a tough few days.
I’m so sorry.
So sorry!
I’m sorry to hear about your sheltie. I hope your wonderful CdR continues to comfort you.
So sorry for the loss of your beloved dog. Sending hugs to you.
Sycomore again today, yum.
Me too this morning, I love it. Santal Massoïa now. They don’t smell specially of sycamores or sandalwood so I reckon they accidentally qualify…
SOTD is PdE Azemour, because, yes, it’s still dang hot out there ????
I worked up a sweat getting ice cubes out of the freezer this morning!
I am all lightness and joy after a perfectly horrible weekend, and have decided to get serious about some life changes the I have been plugging away on in a very turtle-like fashion. Time to put the pedal to the metal, as they say. Azemour is a wonderfully uplifting scent and I’m envisioning a FB in my dreams.
Also, even though I had a “perfectly horrible weekend,” I loved the weekend poll and swapmeet listings, although I was unable to take part. This blog is one of my Happy Places, so Thanks To All????
I can relate to the turtle-like fashion.. change is tough! Especially with big life altering decisions. Even when it is a good change we still hold on to what’s familiar.
Go Deva!
Yay for lightness and joy. Soak it in, radiate it out. Go, Deva, go!
Another turtle here. It’s always inspiring to see others jump into action and take charge. Hoping it rubs off on me. Rooting for ya’????
Good for you!
It’s nice, too, to remember that Monday is sometimes very welcome.
Hope the week carries on being good to u- well done for taking charge!
Slowly decided changes have allowed me to move forward with confidence, despite obstacles and naysayers. Hope you find the same.
I know you can achieve whatever you set your mind to.
I’m swapped out. My poor hubbie has his work cut out for him. He actually likes packaging things. Did I score with this one or what!
SOTD: Orchidee Vanille from the recent split and absolutely loving it!
This could go in the no-brainer, sexy and comfort categories. Plus, I can tell it will last all day which is key for me.
How did it become Monday already! Have a good one lovelies..
When he’s done with your stuff, could you send him over here?
You mean come all the way to Brooklyn?
🙂
Your husband packs your swaps? Wow, he’s a keeper.
He’s so good to me.
Have you thought about renting him out?
Ha! No, never.
You definitely hit the jackpot with him! Ps, I can still smell the mix of OV and Coromandel in my kitchen 4+ days later! ????
Great smells!
I’m wearing Safari — surely, surely a safari doesn’t smell like this? (I’ve never been on one, alas!)
I can’t imagine it would.
You’re taking me back–in the day Safari was my go to scent. I need to pull it out and refresh my very happy memories!
I nearly wore Safari today, I think I’ll wear it tomorrow. U smell lovely.
Arso today, for no good reason. But I smell good, even if the day is going to turn too warm for its optimal deployment.
Arso is great stuff but it’s not cold enough for me yet.
It really isn’t yet you’re right. I had to get up super early this am and it was cooler then!
I don’t mean to be rude but that name … Sorry, I am sure it’s a lovely scent. ????
I thought the very same thing.
Ha! I just think fire because latin and that’s what it smells like, but you are right. Doesn’t work so well englished.
Sampling Carthusia Essence of Central Park which is pretty and kind of springlike on me and fortunately Boston weather is playing along
Based on the inspiration, I wanted so badly to love that scent. Perhaps I should give it another chance
Working on:
a) creating shopping lists (grocery, home improvement, teen clothing), b) planning a minor bathroom upgrade project (frame the cheapie mirror, replace the builder grade fixtures, maaaaybe paint)
c) reworking a trilogy I finished two years ago for e-pub at Amazon.
Smelling great in Le Temps d’une Fete this lovely day.
Yesterday I used the Smoky Poppy shower gel I picked up for $3 at TJ Maxx and was momentarily horrified to see that it’s actually black. The bottle’s black, so I had no idea that the goop inside was too, until it spurted out on my hand and I went OMG WHAT. I did *not* like the fragrance version of Smoky Poppy, but the shower gel is nice, and blends quite nicely with Une Rose Chypree, just so you know. 🙂
I picked up the Smoky Poppy bath bombs there…..YUCK!! Me no likey!! LOL! Maybe I’ll use 1/2 next time to cut down on the fragrance? It was just too much….
A few times, I almost bought Smoky Poppy bath products at TJ Maxx, and even though I always decided I didn’t really like the scent (maybe because I haven’t smelled it in a while, but it reminds me of the current formulation of Opium), I remain oddly tempted to buy it anyway.
Because I like the current formulation of Opium (but not the price) I use the shower gel both on body and hair. I find that it lingers but fades very nicely.
I bought a bottle of the lotion for like 3 bucks at Marshall’s last year but only used it a couple of times. There’s something a little plasticky or rubbery about it to my nose, though the scent fairly light in the lotion. Maybe I’ll try your SP+URC combo rec…
Smoky Poppy is THE one that makes my colleagues sneeze…Lol(or not, oops)
Hello, hello-not sure what to wear today. As Bear noted, it’s warmer than normal in our part of the world, almost back to summer weather. I am meeting my sister later for a guest lecture and a coffee shop date. I need to wear something intellectual or academic–old books, library or maybe coffee scented in memory of those all nighters!! Any suggestions?
When I think of old books/library, Dzongkha always comes to mind but I’m not sure how it would do in heat. One of my go-tos for concentration while doing my Master degree was oddly Sarah Jessica Parker Covet. Something about the complexity of the chocolate and lavendar helped me to think clearly about very transcendant, philosophical topics. Maybe a tea fragrance would provide you with a good mix of wearing well in the heat and being compatible with your lecture and coffee date?
Hi! Do you have any Imaginary Authors perfumes? Perfectly on topic 🙂 my favorite coffee scent is Bond 9 New Haarlem but it is kind of heavy in warm weather. I live in the lower Great Lakes region of the US and this should be my absolute favorite time of year with brisk temperatures and sweaters but it’s 80 degrees so it’s hard to know what to wear, both clothing and perfume. Your plans sound special, have fun!
I’m wearing Apres l’Ondee (sorry about the lack of accents). This is another one that I thought was”meh” at best the first time, but finding it lovely on subsequent trials. Is there something about samples that gives you all the alcohol on the first spray and then you get the perfume or something?
I think you’re on to something. I have had interesting experiences with samples. It can seem like the alcohol has gone first leaving concentrated fragrance behind. I kind of like it.
It’s good to know that I’m not imagining this.
My husband’s birthday was Sunday, and for his present, he picked a bottle of ELDO La Fin Du Monde. Nobody’s more surprised than me, and while he’s struggling with the fact that he now has 3 whole scents to choose between, I find it stranger than expected for him to suddenly have a different smell. (This must be why he didn’t want me to wear a new scent for the wedding. Hmm.)
Anyway, speaking of different scents every day, I’m testing out 4160 Tuesdays Sexiest Scent on the Planet. The opening is so weird and sharp, and perhaps because I hate gin, it started out pretty unpleasant. But now I’m kind of getting into it and can’t really stop sniffing myself.
Ha! My husband has 2 that I bought for him, and the thought of more choices is very unappealing to him. He’s not into changing it up or variety. I can’t fathom that way of being.
It’s is an unusually rainy Monday morning here, a perfect day to join Robin in wearing Vanille Galante.
I admire Hermes scarves and have vowed to own one somehow someday somewhere some way. Silk scarves, especially Hermes, are sometimes regarded as silly, precious, twee, ostentatious, kitschy and/or ridiculous, but I love them. They make me smile. When I see the Brandebourgs design I always think “skeleton”. Ha!
I thought of the band uniforms on the cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Exactly Sgt. Peppers! Hermes scarves are like a painting or other work of art. Beauty in the eye of the beholder, and nobody seems to see them and appreciate them in exactly the same way.
Silk scarves are one of my favourite things to find at thrift stores, and easier to find than good perfume. Haven’t found a Hermes, yet, but have found many fancy French and Japanese brands, generally for under 5$. People just don’t wear them as much as they used to. Keep your eyes peeled!
I inherited a couple of lovely silk scarves from my grandmother, since nobody else wanted them. You’re right, people don’t wear them as often as they did in the past.
At work today in No. 19 Poudre. Doesn’t last long on me but that’s ok because I have the adorable little bottle stashed here in my desk drawer. Its helping make my Monday bearable.
Yes, our big boss is back from a vacation, all full of energy. This means a ton of useless questions and conversations. I need no 19 to make it bearable 🙂
At least I’ve been able to work alone with very little interruptions! Good luck, and No. 19 to the rescue!
Wore a tiny bit of Rochas Femme today, a little really goes a looooong way! The remnants of CdG Avignon lingered on my scarf all day, I really think I might have to buy that one next – it’s been my plan for a long time but something always comes between. Lipstick du jour is Lipstick Queen Frog Prince, which is bright green in the tube but comes out sheer rose on the lips. It’s moisturising and pretty so not all gimmick 🙂
Femme is fab!
SOTD – Barkhane. One shall wear what they decant 🙂
I was decanting this one last night on the first floor. 5 minutes into it, I hear hubs running around like crazy upstairs, opening all the windows. I figured he wanted to get some rain fresh air :). 2 minutes later he comes downstairs, complaining that the fragrance is way too strong – first time he ever complained. I guess this means the projection on it is really good 🙂 – testing it on the unsuspecting colleagues, so far no complaints.
Sounds great, I need to sample that one!
I can include some when I send your package out if you remind me
ha. my spouse just does the fake-coughing thing. he didn’t complain about the lune feline i was decanting yesterday…. guess that’s a good thing.
I found a shop that carries the Fiele line this weekend. Today I’m in Viola. A very nice green, citrusy scent that’s suitable for today since this summer will just not let go!
They’re available at the larger Urban Outfitters in NYC.
In Prada Infusion D’Iris. I needed something simple, crispy, relaxing for a super busy day today and this fragrance gets the job done beautifully.
Such a great ‘go to’ scent!
I’m re-trying Romanza today, after an initial reaction that it was lovely but “too floral” for me. I have trouble with what I think of as “symphonic” florals, where no one recognizable flower note dominates, and I’d like to get over this so that I can more properly appreciate beauties like Jour d’Hermes and 24 Rue Faubourg. I’m finding a bit more aesthetic traction with Romanza today, but I may switch to Vanille Galante later — Robin, thanks for reminding me about this one! Not so much about the vanilla, but such a joyful fragrance! It always reminds me of sugared pink jasmine blossoms.
It’s a very happy scent, hope you ended up joining me!
SOTD Seville a l’Aube. Recovering from a nasty cold. First say in two weeks this has smelled good to me, and today it is perfect.
Swap meet a great success from my point of view…I am looking forward to new acquisitions, and will be sending some things off to be appreciated. I still have a couple items left on my list, and there are several late listers that have some gems availanle, so check it out!
Swap meet rocks!
You smell wonderful and I am glad you are feeling better. I am a recent convert to Seville a L’Aube. Did not care for it at all the first time I tried it and then I found myself craving it. It smells exactly like the Osmanthus that blooms next to the Bonsai bench at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. This is not the tropical osmanthus but a variety that is hybridized to grow in a temperate climate. A spray of Tauer Incense Flash smells divine when layered with this perfume.
Nice tip, i think Seville would be even lovelier with a bit more incense. I haven’t got, or tried incense flash, but will definitely try it on my next trip into London.
Happy rainy Monday! The deluge continues in Portland Metro area, so much so I dilly dallied in bed, listening to the rain. BUT- despite the delay getting up, indecision on what to wear, putting on makeup, and catching a late bus, I somehow still made it to work on time. Go me!
SOTD: Stash elixir (this is a cross between a perfume and scented body oil).
And am drinking a nice strong coffee with plenty of almond milk and palm sugar, Vietnamese style.
I envy people who can function in rainy weather. Clouds dial my speed down to near zero.
Just arrived back in Paris with a stinking cold, boo. SOTD is “Divine” by Divine. Sadly Divine is not divine; it is a big white floral horror show with overtones of soap and cat pee. So I guess I’m joining trick week after all. :^(
Perhaps you are thinking of the wrong Divine, although the Divine I’m thinking of is also a kind of trick.
This actually made me ????
Whoops, if you don’t have emojis, it’s the laughing & crying face.
SOTD is Canoe Skive, which is just right for this coolish wettish day. We had a brief fling with winter over the weekend (6.5″ of rain at my house!) but they say it’ll be summer again (in the 80s) by mid-week.
Aw man, I need to find this one. It sounds perfect for coolish/wettish, which we have plenty of.
Wearing Iris Poudre today, so happy to see the sun even if it’s only 10C. Enjoy your week!
Love Iris Poudre.
Jasmin et Cigarette today. Like other people, the weather here is ticking up – it’s hot and gusty. (Soon, it will be cold and gusty. Well, chilly and gusty, anyway.) And I’m enjoying the contrast from the chilly jasmine.
I did a quick grocery run this morning, and there was a sign encouraging people to buy flowers for their bosses today. Because apparently today is bosses day? How absurd.
Best of days to all! My dear man is away and I’ve gone all useless. I’ve only just woken up and had breakfast (it’s already 6.30!) and I don’t seem to care that I’m running late. I’ve also woken with worst case of bed hair in the history of ever, and I suspect I might be going to get a spot on my face, which doesn’t seem right or fair at my age. What I need today is a scent that will buck me up and hustle me along, but what I want is something that will slouch about yawning in the face of urgent matters and going out for coffee when people are looking for it to have Serious Discussions about Staffing…I’m wearing the insouciant Bois de Feminite, a “don’t bother” expression and a scarily red lippy. The hair remains a fright, however.
Hope the day improves Waterdragon!, at least u smell lovely and the red lipstick sounds fabulous.
Super bright red/orange/pink lipstick cancells out bad hair so you’re good. 😉
MM, you’re such a comfort, and I think you’re right. I’ve had two comments this morning on my make up, and not so much as a glance at my hair, which looks as though I’ve had a close and loving encounter with a light socket.
Giggled when I read this.
It would take that sort of encounter with a light socket to get my hair to do *anything*! ????
????????
Don’t know about you, but I feel naked without something on my lips! And perfume of course????
Sun breaks between showers, and I had such a deep and dreamless sleep last night it was a surprise when I opened my eyes and the clock said 7:30. I finished Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography last night, and if you are interested in learning how he developed as a musician and a writer this is a wonderful book. It’s as if he is writing for the musicians starting out now about his creative process. I’m wearing House of Matriarch Devotion today–an incense with a vegetal feel, if that makes any sense. AND I still have all my swap stuff available!
Downtown Scott, I’m listening to the Gorecki now. It’s gorgeous.
I’m wearing Cacharel Amor Amor today. Not something I wear often, but when it’s right, it’s right.
I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival over the weekend with the fam. It was my almost-2-year-old niece’s first one, and she was in a dragon costume that my SIL made. It was the cutest. 😀
Aww, how sweet!
Ren Fests are soooo fun!! I haven’t been in a few years. Time to fix that! 🙂
Going classic this morning with a spot of Vol de Nuit, nothing fancy, just the current EdT, but lovely .
Lovely, indeed!
Wearing a mix of Beloved and Interlude on my fingers- after making couple samples for a wonderful NSTer and smell lovely.
Please check out the bottom posts on swapmeet topic- I was reaally late to the party 🙂
Teaching a workshop today, for my colleague who gets migraines from fragrance. I’ll stay naked until the workshop is over, and tuck some samples in my bag for later.
Your compassion in going scentless for your colleague earns you a gold star for today. 🙂
After hand digging deep-rooted crabgrass out of a bed along the driveway, I had the strangest cravings. So…No. 19 on my left arm and Bel Ami on my right. Go figure.
SOTD is Atelier des Ors Rose Omeyyade, thanks to the split meet. The gold sparkles make me giggle for some reason.
I would giggle too.Love such novel fun!????
Enjoying a violet day today, to counteract the miserable weather; a few spritzes from my new bottle of Misia, (my first Les Exclusive, love the bottles, that magnetic cap feels so satisfying!) paired with a Lancôme Rose & violet scented lipstick to compliment it. Kusmi’s Violet tea is tea of the day.
Yay for Violet Day!
Whatever sophistication is imparted when I spritz on my 31 Rue Cambon is lost the moment I let that magnetic cap snap into place and am transformed into a kid with a toy. ????
Inspired by Friday’s enjoyment of JM Blackberry and Bay, I decided to try a different take blackberries today with L’Artisan’s Mure et Musc. I hate to say it, but it’s really just… meh. In fact, I can barely smell it and I really did give it a good 4-5 sprays. Disappointed.
Mure et Musc Extreme is lovely and longlasting on my skin, though!
I have a sample of Extreme, which must have been what I used when I originally smelled it. Today I sprayed from a travel size that came with a set. I will have to compare when I get home.
M&M doesn’t perform for me, either, worse luck 🙁
I have the same problem with Mure et Musc! I can’t smell it AT ALL. Just a faint berry when spraying, and then nothing….Am I anosmic to the musk?
Glad to know I’m not alone! I guess it might have its place on those days when wearing perfume is not ideal (or frowned upon by others), but you don’t want to go completely naked.
If I can suggest an El Cheapo blackberry perfume:Jeanne en Provence has a Blackberry bush perfume which I adore! Not an intricate perfume, but good fun in the fruity-floral stable!
OK,so something only perfume-people will understand:This morning as I grabbed my SOTD(Nobile 1942 Pontevecchio W,Love!!),I accidentally let a box of ELdO samples tumble out of my cupboard.Being “slightly” late I had no chance to check what was lost or broken. So tonight I checked and discovered everything was still intact EXCEPT my precious little vial of Bijou Romantique!!The Horror!!Luckily it was still in a plastic pouch,so I took out the broken vial pieces, and the precious liquid went onto some handkerchiefs and scarves, which now smells FANTASTIC.Stupid me of course decided to “dab” my neck with a big-ish shard of glass.Yes.I did bleed for perfume.Yes,I am stupid.haha!Happy Week!X
Bummer on the BR breakage. (Pontevecchio W is nice, though.)
Pontevecchio W always reminds me of Blue Grass from the 80″s that a favorite Aunt wore at the time.
Oh no! Bleeding for the love of perfume????
On a positive note, your scarves will smell divine for a long time!
We do what we do…Lol.
You did absolutely everything you were supposed to do in such a situation!
I could not agree more!Haha! Thanks for making me feel less crazy-stupid!Lol!
The shard of glass thing? Totally the kind of thing I’d do!
Isn’t it just the obvious thing to do?I thought so.Lol.
I knew all the kindred spirits here would understand!Haha!I love NST.x
Late to everything today. I already whined that it’s unseasonably warm here and Zappos delivered my winter hiking boots this morning so as I have a day at home with the cat, I’m in shorts and these boots stalking around the house in the air conditioning to make sure they are keepers. Wearing En Voyage Go Ask Alice today, it’s a great transition scent. I do hope we have some crisp, sunny October days soon and don’t transition straight into November slush 🙁
Ha, I just got a pair of “booties” from Zappos today myself and was doing the same thing!
Still suffering from a cold that’s now in the hacking cough/bronchitis stage, which is where most respiratory things I get end up. I can (mostly) smell, though, and am smelling gorgeous in Coromandel. I really hope the new EDP of this is good – I may ask for a bottle for xmas.
Hope you get well soon. Glad you can at least enjoy your perfume in the meantime!
Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. Needed some cedary-citrus for my late morning.
I just smelled this the other day. If it was spring, I probably would had bought it.
I love that one.
Maybe in time for the next swap meet, I’m starting The Great Purge project. Going to the back of the perfume cabinet to systematically wear all those bottles that never get reached for and wearing to evaluate. Today is Guerlain Idylle which is a nice smell and all, but something that doesn’t grab me. Out the door you go…
That’s pretty brave. I’m always afraid to do that, in case I change my mind.
Friday, I had a flu shot, and a pneumonia shot. Since then, I’ve been feeling very run down. It’s warm(ish) here today, which I am enjoying. Sotd is TM Alien Taste of Fragrance.
Hope you get your energy back soon!
I, too, have been listening to Gorecki. Thank you for the recommendation!
As with you Texas folks, things are ridiculously warm for autumn here in Denver. We are having some lovely colors thanks to our nightly temperature drops, but yesterday was in the 80s. So today I’m taking the opportunity to continue to wear sundresses and am wearing L’Artisan La Chasse Aux Papillons. I really can’t wait for fall weather and hope we don’t skip straight to winter.
La Chasse is so pretty! 🙂
FM Bigarade Concentree for this warm Indian summer day. Perfect for days like this.
Test driving Tauerville Rose Flash today and imagining the Fall weather to accompany it. It’s 93° right now. It’s really nice, but it makes it a bit difficult to get excited about or enjoy pumpkin-spice-flavored/scented-whatever. Oh well.
I just bought Pumpkin Spice K-Cups yesterday. My house is kept cold enough to make it feel like the inside of a recrigerator that I can have it year round and pretend it’s cold outside.
That would definitely make it easy to enjoy it!
My mini of Eau de Soir came in today so that’s what I wore. Joining everyone else in marveling at the unseasonably warm temperatures during October. We’ll probably have winter into next June as a result.
When I looked this morning, there were 2 comment, 200+ comments later…
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Sous le Toit de Paris, boutique and Galeries Lafayette Paris exclusive. For this brand, a perfume from 2012 is considered old!
This perfumes works for me any time of the year, especially summer. Since we’re experiencing Indian Summer right now (although we are yet to get the worst of it), I thought, why not? It fits Friday’s Trick perfume theme because who really knows what it smells like under the roofs of Paris? If the back story were to be believed, this is supposed to smell like under the ROOF / DOME of Galeries Lafayette. I’ve been there twice and I don’t recall it smelling like this but then again, I don’t recall what it smelled like either. Whatever the case, this is one of my favorite perfumes EVER. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out!
That is a really good perfume.
Wouldn’t the air right under the dome smell like a mix of fantastic perfume and fantastic cheeses? 😉
(I’ve only been to the one in Berlin, but it had a food court as well as perfume.)
Long day, no one’s probably reading anymore, but I must file my report. Scent of the day was Timbuktu, because I cannot find my sample of Dzongkha, and must therefore buy a bottle. I probably used it up.
The Timbuktu was the last of that sample – hopefully I’ll remember.
Happened to log on late, too. Both of those are landmark perfumes!
I’m not familiar with your scent but I’m reading. ????
Clearly you have to buy 2 bottles, Timbuktu and Dzongkha.
I post early and then read late.
You are not talking to yourself, not that there’s anything
wrong with that.
😉
I read late, too…you aren’t alone here!
I read and comment mostly when everyone else is asleep!Time-difference with the US I suppose!
