Amouage has launched Bracken Man, a new fragrance.
Evoking a subtle and enigmatic masculinity, Amouage’s Bracken eau de parfum begins with vibrant top notes of lavandin, nutmeg and clove. With a spectrum of light caressing the woods, both Lemon and Bergamot open this fragrance by blanketing a sensation of brightness over wet earth with geranium, cinnamon, cedarwood and sandalwood coming together to seduce the earthy character of musk and patchouli in the base, an aura of which lends a retro touch to this distinguished fragrance.
Additional notes include cypress.
Amouage Bracken Man is available now at Selfridges in the UK, in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, £200.

Gawd, I almost read the name as Kraken…
It does sound nice but I doubt I’m willing to pay this much.
Lol!
I automatically converted it to Brackish. 😉
Brackish or Kraken — either would work 😉
The notes sound promising and the idea is nice, but I’m not sure that a fern-inspired scent is what I want from Amouage. First lilacs and now bracken. I expect spicy pickled roses, frankincense, and syrupy jasmine from a house like this but I’m beginning to think their next release may be along the lines of “Olde Cottage Rose” and find it incongruous. I know I’m quibbling, but I feel like these would be best separate from the main line.
Gosh, I must be grumpy this morning to be bothered by this. It does sound nice and I like the bottle design so expect I’ll give it a try just in case it’s wonderful.
But it’s a good point. Men’s counters are not exactly lacking in fougeres at the moment.
And fougeres sometimes feel like the pleat-front khaki trousers of the men’s fragrance world to me (though I’m fond of Sartorial, for those days when I need to cross-dress, fragrancewise). But I’m interested to sniff Amouage’s take on the genre, since said genre is so outside that house’s typical style.
Has the UK become the perfume launch capital of the world? Seems like no other countries get a look in when it comes to perfume launches – I’m drowning here ! Assuming the US market isn’t considered that important to the men in suits as so much never seems to make it over the pond or when it does its 6 months or a year after it hits Harrods/Selfridges – do Americans not buy perfume ?
From what I can see, not the UK in general, though, but London, and yes, would guess exponentially more luxury perfume is sold in London than in New York, although from what I read, probably relatively little of that is sold to the English. Bergdorf Goodman used to get its share of exclusive launches, but way fewer these days, and there are more and more designer perfumes that never launch here at all.
As a perfumista, wish we had better access, but as a citizen, not really sorry that we are not the luxury shopping destination of the world 🙂
Yes, it often feels like we’re only 2-3 years from special “Zil Lanes” for the wealthiest (of any nation) to sweep past us in their limousines on the way to their gated streets.
