Niche line Byredo will launch Heliotropia, a new floral fragrance inspired by Liberty of London.
The notes feature gardenia, Somalian incense, jasmine, heliotrope, agar wood and white birch.
Byredo Heliotropia will debut at Liberty in June, in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Update: the description at Liberty ... "As if in a dream, a fantasy, hovering between euphoria and delirium,Heliotropia inspires such reverie as it unfurls, arousing Elysian visions that threaten to overload the senses. Like a hazy veil of white flowers in the early dawn light, wild gardenia and jasmine sambac appear effortlessly elegant and serene, their fragility belying the intoxicating sweetness and indolic warmth beneath. A weightless floral, both gentle and fresh with glints of piquant green illuminating powdery, swathes of Heliotrope. Billowing clouds of silvery white , plumes of sensual, spiritual Somalia Incense and fragrant woods combine for a deep melodic base. A heady fusion, in turns virginal and narcotic, Heliotropia carries the mind to a dream like place, a higher state of illusion."
I tend to like Heliotrope in general so this is good one to look for. Do you know if Barney’s will be carrying it anytime soon?
I don’t know…it’s launching as a Liberty exclusive, no idea if/when it will go into wider distribution. Sorry!
I dunno why, but for me niche is a small company, that only have around 4 fragrances out. Byredo and Annick Goutal, for example, have a wide palette of scents out 😛
That said, this sounds very nice 🙂
For the industry, niche is about distribution, not size…but regardless, Byredo is overdoing it a wee bit this year maybe? Does sound nice though.
Ah..I got a little wiser today..sorry to Byredo and Annick G 🙂
I agree..how many have they released this year…3..4?
I came across Super Ceder..I like it, but I don’t like it enough to pay that price. It didn’t overwhelm me with joy like 1996 does 😉
Robin, i guess that this is due the info that niche segment was responsible last year for 69% of the income increase last year. This was in the article you posted yesterday i guess.
Oh yes, agree. It’s doing way better than mainstream.
I think that the name on the article is mystyped, since the bottle says Heliotropia instead of Heliotropa
You are so right, thanks for the correction!
I like Byredo and this one sounded interesting until I saw the agar wood. I just don’t do well with most oud, and it seems particularly out of place in this list of notes.
