CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) has announced the winners of their annual Beauty Awards. And the winners in the fragrance categories are:
Women’s Scent Prestige ~ Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium
Women’s Scent Mass ~ Sonia Kashuk White Etheriana
Men’s Scent ~ Christian Dior Sauvage

I don’t get it. Among parfumistas Sauvage has been received with contempt and indignation. How d a r e Dior produce such a dumb and ugly scent. Why is it that this very Sauvage wins an award?
It’s sweeping the awards this year — and for once, I correctly predicted the fragrance that would sweep the awards 🙂
And the best explanation I can give you is that the people who give fragrance awards are in the fragrance business. Their outlook is not that of a perfumista.
(But will also add that Sauvage has won Consumer’s Choice in several awards too. So the fragrance industry isn’t unaware of what consumers want, is my point. It just isn’t necessarily what perfumistas want.)
it’s a rarefied world, planet Fragrance…
Exactly.
