Fragrance gifts for Mother’s Day 2016, part 2

Posted by Robin on 3 May 2016 7 Comments

Mother's Day (in the US, anyway) is coming soon — this Sunday. We posted one list of scented gifts already, here's another.

Bella Freud votive candles

From Bella Freud, a votive set with four 70g candles (Signature, Ginsberg is God, Je t'aime Jane and 1970) in a black presentation box. $120 at Nordstrom.

Frédéric Malle shower gels

From Frédéric Malle, shower gels in En Passant, Lipstick Rose or Eau de Magnolia. $55 each for 200 ml (other scents available as well, prices vary) at Aedes.

Cire Trudon Odalisque travel spray

From Cire Trudon, a travel room spray in the Odalisque fragrance: "Enclosed in citrus and wood bark, the orange blossom weaves a painter’s dream from which escapes the pale volute of smoke from a narghile. As an orientalist painting, furiously romantic, the vigorous scent of the cade, and solar splinter of citrus fruits, come out as a thin blade in the silky shadow of vanilla." $78 at Candle Delirium.

Harney tea gift set

From Harney & Sons, the Mom's Tea Time-out gift set, with Mother's Bouquet floral tea, Louis Sherry Chocolates in a miniature tin, Lemongrass Tea Mints from Sencha Naturals and Cucumber Melon White Tea Infused Lip Balm from Bare English & Co. $27.95 at Harney & Sons.

Carven L'Absolu coffret

From Carven, a gift set in the L'Absolu fragrance ("intensely voluptuous with sensual and irresistible floral notes"), including a 50 ml Eau de Parfum and 100 ml Body Milk. $95 at Bloomingdales.

In Fiore Bois de Rose balm

From In Fiore, body balm in Bois de Rose: "Reveling within the quintessential Bulgarian rose are sweet and piquant notes of luscious rosewood. Flourishing on skin with full ardor, the opulent duo undulates to whispery slips of Egyptian geranium. Accenting the vividness of rose, Geranium imparts a silkened aromatic facet." 240 ml for $90 at Twisted Lily.

Byredo Flowerhead soap

From Byredo, a soap bar in the Flowerhead fragrance: "Byredo's Flowerhead soap bar is inspired by a traditional Indian wedding, where multicolored heads of flowers are strung together on giant garlands." $30 at Barneys.

The Frederic Malle shower gels are super luxurious. They are lightly fragranced (but enough so you recognize its perfume counterpart) and feels really good on the skin. I have Carnal Flower and Vetiver Extraoridinaire.

Thanks! I’ve taken forever to use up my VE soap (STRONGLY scented and the scent lasts) but would love some VE shower gel when it’s gone.

These are all wonderful picks. I’ve been thinking about that Bella Freud set for ages: I used to have the Ginsberg is God candle and I loved it (it’s like a more intense Baies). Malle shower gel is on the list too, but I cannot decide on the fragrance.

When I was at the Feederic Malle boutique late last year, having been sent there by the Aedes SA since they did not have Carnal Flower shower gel in stock, the SA at the boutique plied me with shower gel samples. I have tried just about everything (except Lipstick Rose which I cannot stand). Besides Carnal Flower and Vetiver ExtrOrdinaire, I also have Eau de Magnolia with its box signed by Federic Malle!

I’m very tempted by the candles. Wish they were at TJ Maxx ;-)

Oh man. I’d buy that Flowerhead soap if my water wasn’t so hard, but I have declared this house a no-soap zone. Life is too short to scrub soap scum. (Yes, we have a water softener. Yes, it helps. No, it doesn’t prevent massive scum issues. Ergo, shower gel and liquid hand soap. SIgh.)

We have hard water too. I do use some soap, but definitely more shower gel.
