Videos (scent-free, sorry!) from recent scent installations created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian of Maison Francis Kurkdjian. The first was for a retrospective of the work of French painter Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun at the Grand Palais, Paris. "This new installation, which [Kurkdjian] created with scenographer Séverine Baehrel, is inspired from floral ornament, a recurring pattern in the Vigée Le Brun work. It is magnified with a poetic rose scent that adds a sensory element to the exhibition and echoes 'A la rose', a fragrance from the Maison Francis Kurkdjian collection. More below the jump...
The second video is from Stratus 2015, a "curtain of scented mist" for the Pavillon Lille3000 at the Milan World Expo 2015 (see our announcement here). "Built around an accord of banana, orange, lotus and coffee flowers, its bouquet echoes the plants presented in the “Textifood” exhibition."
The last video is from the L'Art du Jardin exhibition, also at the Grand Palais Paris, in 2013. "Collaboration with Albert Schrurs, Allegory Studio founder. Flowers-fans of the invented variety called "Flora Tournicota" in white petals and golden rods. Made of perfume keys, their energy produces a fragrant wind in turn naturally turn the wind-mills flowers. Fragrance : Aqua Universalis forte."
Oooh, a reminder to try A la Rose. The mirrored and ornamented facade on the Grand Palais is beautiful. It would be such fun to be there to see people’s reaction to the scent dimension of the exhibit.
Wasn’t that lovely? I think that exhibit just closed.
Ah, one of the drawbacks of living out in the woods with livestock depending on you, is it is impossible to just jump on a plane and flit off somewhere to take in an excellent museum sow or something. I need to arrange my life so I have more flexibility ….
Well, I do not live in the woods with livestock, but even living in a small town with a child I still cannot jaunt off to Paris whenever I like 🙂
Yes, children have that effect upon one’s life…
