It's Best Buy Friday! Our community project for today: wear your favorite fragrance purchase of 2015. If you didn't buy anything this year, pick a favorite from a prior year.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm cheating a wee bit. I did not buy anything this year, but last year, I bought Cartier La Panthère unsniffed, didn't like it, and happily swapped it for a bottle of Cartier Baiser Volé. So that's what I'm wearing.
Reminder: next Friday we will not have a community project. But on Monday 12/28, we'll do a special Monday project...we'll be posting our annual Best of 2015 list, so wear one of your own Best of 2015 fragrances.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Cartier Évasions Joaillières bracelet ("Évasions Joaillières bracelet, 18K pink gold, set with 53 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 1.47 carats, 7 pink opal beads, 7 onyx beads, 7 briolette-cut pink sapphires and 7 briolette-cut black sapphires.") is £32,900.
Pacifica’s Spanish amber for under fifteen dollars from my local health food store…bought the last bottle and it wasn’t restocked…not a good sign….I will miss this one if and when it goes 🙁
You got a good deal! Spanish Amber is still on their website if you want to hoard.
You get an enabler pin 🙂
Believe me I was tempted!
But if I had to choose my favorite fragrance house discovered in 2015 (thanks to NST) it would have to be Dame Perfumery….I have bought/ received every single travel size he has , and bought eight full bottles for gifts thus far for friends and family…the fragrances are great, the prices of FBs are insanely affordable (especially with the 10% discount codes), free shipping and free gift wrapping……..it’s a win-win situation!
Happy Friday!
I am layering my two purchases from this year and I am sort of sure it’s working..
One is Shalimar dusting powder and the other is Angelique Noire.
Cold is still hanging on but getting better.
Today I am also full term! Can’t wait to meet this baby
Congrats on the baby! I hope everything between now and getting to meet him / her face to face goes smooth as silk!
So exciting! Wishing you an uncomplicated labor & delivery. It will happen soon, don’t worry!
How exciting! Wishing you two all the best.
I’m so happy for you and hope you don’t have much longer to wait!
That IS exciting! What a wonderful Christmas present!! Hope it all goes smoothly.
Adding more good wishes 🙂
Congratulations and I hope everything goes smoothly for you
I’m excited for you! Wishing an extraordinarily happy holiday!
… wishing you, that is
Thanks everyone
Congratulations and I hope you meet your new baby soon. It’s hard to wait!
Wishing you a safe and easy delivery!
Wishing you the best.
Yay 😀 Best of luck!
Best wishes for you and baby!
Best wishes for a safe delivery!
Very happy for you 🙂
HUZZAH on being full term- may the baby be as awesome as I think it will be!
Yay baby! Hope you’re feeling better soon!!
Hooray and glad you’re recovering well from the cold!
Yaaaay! May the birth be as easy as possible, and the baby sleep through the night from day one 😉
Its first thoughts and words will be, Damn you smell good!
Good luck with the labour and don’t forget that it’s okay to scream…make the most of it!
Come on Baby! Anytime you’re ready, Mommy is too! 🙂
Congrats! How exciting, and joyful for you 🙂
May the birth be quick and uncomplicated, and the new one be a healthy, easygoing angel!
Congratulations and hope everything goes smoothly.
A baby for Christmas! The best gift of all – congratulations.
Sounds like a winning combo! I picked up a sample of AN from Saks this week. Deciding whether it’s too sweet for me.
The dry down is sweet. But nobody does vanilla like Guerlain.
Did you pick up any other samples?
Holiday baby, yay! How wonderfully exciting 🙂
After a couple years of only purchasing the occasional sample I went pretty crazy in the last quarter of this year, which makes it verrrrry hard to chose. I’ve decided to go wit Au Dela from the Bruno Fazzolari sample set I bought. It’s not often a sample set makes me yearn for FBs of most of the scents, but that one did so it’s my buy of the year. (And Au Dela because this day is going to need some smolder!)
I went a little crazy this quarter too. I blame it on my frequent visitations to this forum!
Commando at the moment, but planning to wear Safran Troublant as my Best Buy 2015. Got a good deal on it at Fragrancenet and I could not be more pleased with the scent. Great as an easy-to-wear, all-purpose frag.
Never heard of this one – will have to look it up
Gorgeous!
Fragrancenet has some great deals on the L’Artisan line.
I second that…
and great priced on Serge L, Amouge, Dyptique, etc. as well as classic scents like Silences, Oscar de la Renta, Chloe, etc.
I must have hit the same sale as you 🙂 It was a great deal and I had a small decant that I used up licketysplit, so it justified a FB purchase (so I tell myself..!)
Checking back on my notes, one of my first buys of the year was also one of my favorites– Soivohle Rosa Sur Reuse. Other contenders were Desarmant, Freschiiissimo, No.57, and Indigo Vanilla
Rosa sur Reuse is a pretty one.
I am wearing Rose Boheme from Providence Perfume Company. I ordered a 15 ml bottle but the vendor must not have updated their inventory on their website. They upgraded my 15 ml bottle to a 30 ml at no extra charge because they had run out of the smaller size. I paid $68 rather than $125 for the 30 ml bottle. Since that was an unexpected bonus I was so happy! Happy Friday All!
How lovely! All the more reason to douse yourself.
Absolutely, although my coworkers probably wouldn’t agree. 🙂
Yay! An early Christmas present!
What a nice surprise! That happened to me with OJ Tolu last year. Ended up with a huge bottle.
I’m wearing Tom Ford Shanghai Lily, which I purchased at 20% off during the Sephora sale. I was never a huge fan of Donna Karan Gold (although I know it’s a great favorite), but I love this one! A little goes a long way.
Sephora had a sale -how did I miss that?
Friends & Family and then VIB.
Oh wow, I didn’t know Sephora carried the fancy Tom Fords!
Neither did I! Is that another one of their online-only lines, or was it in store?
I ordered it online. The great thing is that Sephora doesn’t exclude fragrance during the Friends and Family and VIB 20% off sales! By the time I checked out, Fleur de Chine was sold out, so I ordered the Shanghai Lily. I just noticed though that Fleur de Chine is on Fragrance Net (must be recent because it wasn’t there the last time I checked), so I’ve asked for it for my birthday next month.
Yes fragrancenet has several Tom Fords now….at least when I last looked….
Nordstrom price matches if you would rather not deal with nameless / faceless Sephora. This was how I got my Clinique Body Butter from Nordstrom at 20% off.
Thanks for the hot tip! I much prefer to buy from Nordies and even though I know they generally price match it did not occur to me to ask for it during the Sephora sale.
Yes Rocher Voile d’Ambre. Nicely done, sheer but never weak ambery vanilla.
Oh, that sounds really nice! Thanks for the little description!
This is a nice one.
That does sound lovely
I’m wearing Rose Praline, which I bought from another NST reader who lives locally. I love it and have wanted a bottle for years.
I recently got a sample of that and really like it!
I had some very lucky finds this year, but I decided that the truly best buy is the one that gets used up to the very last drop. Consequently, I’m in (probably vintage-ish) Tabac Blond EDT, from the third 15ml decant I’ve gone through in record time. STC had this for a while but doesn’t anymore, and the EDT formulation isn’t seen much in the wild, which is what leads me to believe it must be a little bit vintage. I love it in extrait also, but this EDT is rich and beautiful and lasts all day and then some, and is very warm and cozy for a ridiculously rainy day here.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!
Hands down, Tauer PHI rose de Kandahar
That’s a fabulous perfume.
Yes, that is one of my Holy Grail perfumes, too. I bought a FB the year it came out and have experienced a deep and enduring love that goes on and on and on. You smell divine!
I have multiple bottles of this – must never be without it! It is amazing to me that he said he wasn’t sure about putting it on the market, because for me it is his best next to LADDM.
Again, there were many to choose from :-/ I went with Reem Acra because I’ve been wearing it heaps and loving it since I got it. Cheap, lovely bottle, and delicious golden ambery orange blossom. And a totally successful blind-buy! What’s not to love? 😉
I need to put this on my to try list. The last orange blossom I loved (and still do) was L’AP Seville a l’Aube, that’s a > 3-year OB dry spell right there!
My best buy this year is surely Honore des Pres Sexy Angelic, which I finally tested and fell for (other 2015 news: I love almond in perfume, apparently?), only to find it’s totally disappeared from retailers. Reportedly not discontinued but out of stock everywhere. I panicked, turned to eBay… where I found 50ml bottles for $35, inclusive of shipping from Germany! Reader, I bought three of them 🙂
Completely justified – you really had no other option. 🙂
Hahaha I’m so glad you understand! What’s a person to do?
I just discovered L’Occitane’s almond line after getting a free sample of the oil with a Sephora order and am suddenly all about almond everything. I’ve never smelled Honore des Pres Sexy Angelic, but I can only imagine you smell fantastic.
Well good news, I know someone who is def in a position to hook you up with an HdP SA sample 😉 Also, have you tried Lush’s Snowcake soap? Got one as a gift from–of course–a beyond-generous NSTer last winter and have been in love since. Smells heavenly, and perfect for this time of year (which Lush seems to know, since they only sell it seasonally–this year I’m stocking up!)
Snowcake is really nice.
<3 <3 <3 I owe you. It's dreamy.
Sounds like this lady’s going to need to pick up lunch at the mall so I can coincidentally pass by Lush and see if they have any Snowcake in stock
Ooh did you? Eager to hear how you liked it! (Or if you found anything else fun while you were there–I often feel like I don’t even know where to start when I go into Lush!)
Oh dear! Another potential Lush addiction… I too love almond. I used part of a $20 Sephora certificate to buy a little set of L’Occitane almond items. Haven’t tried Snowcake…
Heh, I am so happy to spread the Snowcake love far and wide!
Also, did you notice that Prada does an Infusion d’Amande now?
https://nstperfume.com/2015/05/18/prada-les-infusions-de-prada-new-fragrances/ I encountered it a month or two ago when I went into one of their boutiques looking for the new Prada Olfactories (only in NY and Milan, it turns out–boo). I kinda brushed off the opportunity to try the new Infusions, wanting to save precious skin space, but I took a paper blotter home with me and my purse smelled great for the rest of the day, so now I wish I’d sprayed some on myself! Will have to circle back sometime soon.
Ooh, C.H.! I haven’t walked into a Prada boutique lately because I did not want to get tempted with the numbered parfums. I smelled the les infusions at KaDeWe this past summer and got a sample of the oeillet – definitely FBW but I have not yet pulled the trigger thinking that I will wait until they hit Nordstrom (if they ever do) or even Sephora…
Oh yes the oeillet smelled very nice on paper too–ok, I’ll def have to go back and try both on skin.
And meanwhile, can’t we persuade you to go sniff the numbered ones–you know, for Science! It is a big personal risk, certainly, but maybe you’d be willing, for the sake of increasing knowledge? 😉
C.H. – I should clarify…I don’t want to be tempted with MORE of the numbered parfums :-). I have No.2 Oeillet. I had No. 4 Fleur d’Oranger which I gave away at one of the freebiemeets. I am TEMPTED by No. 8 Opoponax — it smells like orris butter but the notes are: bergamot, opoponax, galbanum, amber, labdanum and sandalwood.
But look what you made me do — I went to the website and saw the Olfactories! I missed the announcement on NST!!!!
Maybe for science I will stop by…soon. I’ll have to bring baggies to preserve the scent strips. I’ve tried my “bring your own atomizer(s)” technique on previous visits and the SA would not budge. Although…if I buy No.8, maybe they will let me have some samples….scheming…for science. (Clearly, I should be thinking about going to sleep.)
SL Louve? Lots of almond.
Do you find that Lush soaps don’t lather the way they used to? Is it because they no longer use palm oil?
Ooh will have to make a point to try Louve!
You know I am really such a late-comer to the Lush game that I have nothing to compare it to, but it’s true, current version is not the most lather-y soap. I sort of don’t mind tho? A nice lather is pleasing for sure but it can also make bar soap feel like it’s melting away super fast. Trade-offs I suppose!
Hello and Happy Friday all – it has felt like a verrry long week work wise. Which means I am wearing Le Parfum de Therese, as I have all week – I veer around how I feel on this one but it was bought a few years ago and sometimes is exactly what’s needed. Haven’t bought many FBs this year – I think only Fleur de Chine, and somehow that wasn’t what was needed today.
So much talk about this one this week that I may need to give it a proper try.
I’m one of the people who believe there was a reformulation along the way. It used to be more herby/basilic, and now the melon overwhelms it…I think it was relatively recent so if you see used bottles/samples out on ebay or something they may be the old stuff.
Hmm, I got my bottle last spring, probably the reformulation – fortunately it is neither too herbal nor too melony for me, I find it just perfect.
I couldn’t decide which thing I purchased this year rated as the best, so I’m wearing a sample of something I’m really loving – Rose Omeyyade by Atelier des Ors. For once, I can almost smell myself without shoving my wrist to my nose! I’m wearing an off-the-shoulder black shirt today and decided it suited the (work-appropriately) sultry look. May want to get a bottle of this in the next year….
Still kind of reeling from this insane week, but powering through.
Hope that all of the sickies out there have started to feel better!
Hope everyone
The holidays are almost here, hope you have some down time
Work-appropriately sultry- love it!
Happy Friday!
Oh dear – I read your post as ‘work appropriate slutty’ and stopped, had a think, and went…oh, own that! Second reading…sultry. Clean your glasses, Kanuka!
I should have worn either Iris Nazarena or Iris Cendre, I bought both this year and loved both equally, but I just didn’t feel like iris today. So I’m in Mimosa & Cardamom at the moment and will wear Nanban for a party later on. Big likes, these two.
great choice on both of these!
I wore Iris Cendre yesterday. The incense really bloomed this time and it lasted all day. It was so beautiful I kept sniffing my arms like a weirdo. I’m so glad I finally enjoy (some) iris.
Best Buy Friday is a great idea and I can successfully participate this time.
Best, best, best EVER buy was a 100ml bottle of Kalamat, which I bought blind as a bat based on reviews I had read. On first sniff, it was true love and this zoomed right up to the top of my “Favorite Five Fragrances” list. It averaged out to about $1 per ml, free shipping from Saudi, and I am seriously thinking I need to get a BUB. Delicious stuff and Friday is a great day to celebrate, since the weekend is just about 6 hours away for me:)
Oh, and did I mention STAR WARS?!?!
NICE! Where did you order this from? I was looking for a bottle a month ago, but the listing for Amazon is gone now and I’m uncertain what’s a good place to buy it from now.
I found it on eBay and the shipping was super fast from Saudi. I had to email the seller and he responded right away, so it was a great success all the way around.
I think I saw some sellers on Ebay for it when I was searching for it a while back. I may have to go check there again. Thanks.
Oh, and the bottle is beautifully etched and the presentation is gorgeous, too.
Did it come in the box as well? The whole presentation I’ve seen for it looks amazing!
Just dittoing STAR WARS! I am debating about doing tickets for 9 am show tomorrow. I set my alarm to go to a 10 am show in 1977 with my sister. Am feeling a bit of the same excitement….
Do it! Are you able to go with your sister again? If she is not able to be with you, it would be a great way to commemorate that day in 1978 🙂
Oops-1977! Dang phone 🙂
Can’t do with sissie – she’s in CA and I’m in NY. She took exception to me saying I dragged her out of bed. I didn’t physically, but she tried to persuade me to let her stay in bed… Am trying to convince my husband. He’ll claim to like/know Star Wars, but he doesn’t really. I mean, come on, he liked Jar Jar Binks. Seriously?
Jar Jar Binks!!! Nooooo!
I’m somewhat participating in the challenge. I’m wearing Chanel no 19 since I did find some decent deals on E-Bay for vintage. But my best deal was a sealed 4.5 ounce lyre bottle of vintage Bal for $80. I didn’t want to smell like I was bedding someone all night and didn’t bother to shower to work.
BTW, I did manage to score a backup of Havana Vanille for$60 off of E-Bay.
Love No19!
” I didn’t want to smell like I was bedding someone all night and didn’t bother to shower to work.”
Perfect description of this amazing scent.
Scent twins!
I’m really pleased to say that a lot of my purchases this year were great buys, both because of the price and how much I like them. I was going to wear Vanilla Flash this morning, but then remembered I got my bottle of vintage Bal a Versailles for less than $20 and decided that fit the theme perfectly.
Love vintage Bal.
Mohur EdP. It’s not necessarily a best buy in terms of being a bargain, but it’s definitely the one I’m happiest I bought this year.
I am wearing Hermes Jardin sur le Toit, which was sent to me by mistake (instead of sur le Nil). Hermes sent me the sur le NIl and told me to keep the mistake bottle. I kept a decant, but sent the majority to my step-sister who loved it when she smelled it on me. Win-win.
Oh yes, what a happy outcome!
My best buy (spell check automatically capitalizes that) was Reminicense Patchouli. It was a blind grab after I read a reference to it on NST. It wasn’t a special deal, but it is very reasonably priced.. It turned out to be a favorite that makes my eyes light up when I see the bottle.
Nice one! And their prices are so reasonable for what seem like quality fragrances. I’ve tested a few of their others. The Tonka is really cozy.
I really want to try that tonka. Having a tonka love affair this year it seems.
Mugler Ultra Zest, definitely the funnest of the flankers — a huge shot of citrus splashed atop the warm-and-foody A*Men base. An instant pick-me-up.
I’ll decide what to wear after Pilates, but I have two particular favorites this year: vintage Jean Couturier Kéora and Canoe Goods Skive.
Though I have never done pilates, but really love yoga. I will have to give it a try one day.
The two seem to complement each other very well – both of my Pilates teachers also take yoga classes, and I think one of them is also learning to teach yoga.
Hmmm, I am with Janice, my best perfume acquistion of the year is definitely Neela Vermiere Mohur Extrait, which is not a best buy, per se, even tho I did a split with 2 lovely NSTer’s which reduced the expense. But every time I put it on, my reaction is something like, “Oh, this is soooo good, I am sooo happy to have this on my perfume tray.” LOL. Notice how I snuck in “tray” there? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and now my second hobby is looking for old mirrored dressing table trays to display my pretty bottles!
I found an awesome 50’s one in an antique shop for about $20 a few years ago, it has a ship design in the glass and holds about 19 bottles comfortably which I think is a nice rotation. If I had more surfaces I think I’d have to find another tray for a second ‘arrangement’!! 🙂
Exactly the sort of thing I am casting around for! Ships, flowers, puppies, Watteau vignettes of girls on swings, whatever. 🙂
That is the absolute best feeling to have about a perfume!
HAPPY FRIDAY!! And happy HOLIDAY BREAK for all students and teachers! My kids and hubby are looking forward to a couple of weeks of powering down!
GO SEE STAR WARS!! It’s a great movie, and you won’t be disappointed. No spoilers from me! 🙂
SOTD: Left the house scentless, in a rush to deliver cookies to school and pick up meds at the vet, so the only thing with me in my purse was a rollerball of Modern Muse (original). It’s one of my fave purchases this year for sure….
I second the wishes for a great holiday break for school kids and staff members! I worked in schools for years and the week before Christmas break was usually excruciating.
I will definitely jump on this bandwagon! Desperately needing these next two weeks off. Although, I have to confess, I’ve had an extended vacation break due to pneumonia.
I had pneumonia back in April. trust me, you did not have a vacation break. wishing you a real relaxing and fun holiday vacation!
You’re right. It’s been rough. Been in bed for the last couple of days. Thanks.
Wishing you a full recovery so you can enjoy your break!
Thanks so much!
Happy Friday to you all!
My best buy of this year was easily Shangri La. Not a bargain price but I love it so, and wore it more frequently than anything else. Great big love ❤
I don’t think this was my best buy by any means, but I’m wearing Youth Dew. I got a mini last January, and it has turned into my Fall & Winter go-to scent. My mother wore this, and I am amazed because I remember how much I disliked it in my youth. Now, I am about her age when she wore it, and I love it.
I haven’t bought that many bottles this year (by perfumista standards), and I’m at Mom’s with only decants and samples so I’m wearing the very, very last of my Equistris sample in the hopes that UPS gets off their stuff together and delivers my MiN packages. I’m also wearing a hefty dose of insect repellent since the ranch next door has introduced a fresh herd of cattle that really need to be dipped. I have three lovely huge, swollen, throbbing horsefly bites on my legs that will be huge and itchy for at least the next week 🙁 No wearing my knee-length Christmas dress this year.
It’s a beautiful morning anyway, so I’m about to evict the purring lap-hog who is trying to help me type AND lick my toast. Amelia Pond and I are going outside to play.
For several years now I’ve avoided UPS delivery at all costs. Their service just keeps getting worse.
They are terrific in this area. Funny how service can vary so much within one company.
Yep. In our (city) area Fedex is much more reliable and at my old job we paid about 20% more to order human tissue for transplant from a company who used them because otherwise we might have a surgery with no supplies. At Mom’s (very rural), a FedEx delivery means you’ll be lucky if the person 20 miles away who gets the entire truckload dumped at their gate decides to call around to find the proper owners.
I guess every large company has its flaws, but UPS is really dropping the ball for me lately. It seems that everyone is shipping through them right now so I would guess they’re overwhelmed. We got a package at a few minutes shy of midnight the other day.
I received a Fedex delivery in deep rural France one time and it arrived by taxi!
Horse flys! Ugh. The thing where you hang some large black object and have water with a little Dawn or other heavy duty detergent in it really does help. They are attracted to what seems like the tender underbelly of an herbivore, and they dip in the water for a little sip, and the detergent gets them too wet to fly away….
Awful little insect predators! Our ponies are pestered by them, and will come running and back up to whatever human is around to have us crush the ones that bite them on their back where they can’t reach to whack them off themselves.
They really are awful! One was chasing a kitty earlier and I managed to squish it. I may have to put up some traps. I’m so sensitive to their saliva, I’m afraid I’ll get sick if I get many more bites (I’m not even going to think about all the gross diseases they carry).
I made a lot of very successful purchases this year. Cassie, Beloved, Noir Epices, L’Ame Sœur, but my stand out purchase has to be MDCI’s L’Enlèvement au Sérail. So that’s what I’m wearing today. It’s wistful, beautiful and it wafts just wonderfully all day long.
Have a great weekend everyone.
One of my favorites! You smell wonderful, austenfan.
Wearing my “Best Buy” from either early this year or late last year. . .
I’m experiencing some perfume-buying amnesia lately (oh, wait, did I buy THAT online too?!), but I know I was very pleased with scooping up my very own lantern bottle of Guet-Apens off the ebays for some sort of reasonable price!
Oh, major jealousy! But, I admit, I avoid stalking all the different Attrape Coeur versions, just to save my budgetary butt, so to speak. 🙂
Hahahaha poor MR’s budget was subjected to outside AC stalkers throwing tips her way. Never stood a chance really 🙂
Is that gloating I detect? 🙂
Who, me?! 😉
As CH coyly suggests, it really was beyond my control!
My bottle purchases for the year have been generally successful, with the exception of that 15ml bottle of Providence Moss Gown that I really only bought to help out after Charna’s fire. (I need to offload it, because I’m not going to wear it. At all. And it’s decent stuff, it deserves to be loved, but this is not its forever home. 🙂 )
I could be wearing Safari today, or I could have opened my (Haute Look sale) bottle of Penhaligon’s Ostara, but I’m going with Iris Poudre again because I’ve worn and enjoyed it all year.
I feel the same way about Moss Gown and am reminded every time I open my drawer because the sample leaked out. It is nice but I’ve never been moved to wear it. Kind of you to support her, though!
I just saw on the news the other day that FedEx is really behind with shipments right now. With it being the holidays and all the scares we have had these last few weeks, they are trying to check and double check packages. They also stated that this year online purchases have increased dramatically and they don’t have enough trucks to accommodate all the packages they have. They have had to rent Uhauls to help with some of their deliveries. But, I hope you get your things soon. Waiting is the hardest.
Weren’t there similar news reports last year?
Probably, I can’t recall. But I do remember watching that the other day.
I’m head over heels for Moss Gown but haven’t gotten around to buying it yet – if you want to get in touch my email is my user name plus “doublemint” at gmail. 🙂
I love everything I bought this year, but Rossy de Palma just does it for me every time. It’s also disappearing faster than any other perfume I have.
This week has been pretty stressful from many angles, so looking forward to the weekend. Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend:-)
Have a good time de-stressing and enjoy your lovely purchases.
Thank you!
I forgot about Best Buy Friday.
I had to get up very early this morning, and I grabbed Chanel No 22, and that’s what I’m wearing today. Sometimes my head doesn’t work properly when its early in the morning.
Have a great weekend!
No 22 is gorgeous!
I’m a little grumpy right now because I thought I’d have my FB of Lyric to wear for today, but I still haven’t gotten it. I ordered it on the 2nd and it still isn’t here. I’m aware the issue is very much with FedEx and not Fragrancenet, but after reading some reviews online I’m concerned I might get royally screwed if the package is lost and Fragrancenet gives me the middle finger for a refund.
Wearing Memoir today, which is a bit strong for the office, but I really don’t care.
Oh no! Wow that’s rotten, I’ve placed two FragranceNet orders in that time and both arrived–one a little more slowly than usual but just a couple days delay, not a couple weeks! Mine both came by USPS tho… Have you had any contact with FragranceNet yet? I’m keeping fingers crossed for you–I haven’t ever had a package from them go missing so I haven’t dealt with that specific issue but I have had lots of successful transactions with them, really hoping yours eventually will be successful too!
I haven’t contacted Fragrancenet yet, but thinking I might next week if the FedEx info isn’t updated. I’ll also contact FedEx to try and see if they can figure out what’s going on. I don’t mind that it’s late – it’s just for me and I get it: it’s the holiday season, carriers are slammed. But I’d like to at least KNOW if I’m getting it. The last “delivery date” said Tuesday and then nothing. Now it just says “pending”.
I had a FedEx package sit at the Atlanta hub for 4 days…..Very frustrating. It finally showed up and all is well, but I was beginning to worry! What is the issue with FedEx? UPS has been pretty normal speed lately….
So sorry about Lyric, it will come it will come..
I am having a problem with amazon delivery. I have reached out to the seller several times because I haven’t gotten the package and the seller has not responded. Its a holiday gift for my secret santa.
I am not sure if you did this but Frangrancenet is a “google trusted store” when I have made purchases I have always signed up for the google protection. If you did this, I don’t see you getting royally screwed.
If it never arrives, Fragrancenet will make good on it. I’ve had a few problems over the years, and their customer service department has always been amazing in resolving issues and issuing refunds if necessary.
Whoops! Supposed to be a response to Jenkr.
Thanks. I read a few Google reviews and some people were saying Fragrancenet basically told them “tough $%*&” but who knows. Maybe I’ll get a nice rep who can help out. Thanks for your input though.
The mail has been SLOW. I thought a package from Amazon had gotten lost (USPS shipping) but it finally showed up. It sounds like with Fragrancenet you should keep calling until you get a good customer service agent. It will work out. Btw, I’ve ordered from them for years but haven’t had any shipping issues.
If you used a credit card to pay, you can dispute it via the credit card company. Same with PayPal.
Ah yes, I did pay with Paypal so I can always do that. I’ll wait a little longer and then try contacting the company first.
A very good tip, thanks for the reminder to us all!
I have never had a problem with fragrancenet and have been ordering from them for 15 years? give or take?
However, I am having a major problems with my orders from Dame Perfumery , amazon, Jo Malone, 100% Pure…it isn’t the companies but the delivery services (USPS, UPS, Fed Ex) . I think the delivery companies are so overloaded and are not delivering on expected delivery dates and packages are getting misplaced, lost , etc. I ordered two full bottles from Dame Perfumery on November 30th for my parents for Christmas and they still haven’t arrived! They are somewhere at the local post office “ready to be delivered”…if they don’t arrive soon I know I am going to have to contact someone!
Oh, you know, if they’ve made it to your local post office– I’ve had good luck calling my specific post office to inquire. Well, “good luck” is maybe an overstatement because it’s not GREAT that packages were just sitting in a corner collecting dust, but, easily resolved. Sometimes something just gets set aside and forgotten, but not really lost.
My Best Buy this year is NV Mohur from the half price MiN sale (makes me faint just typing that!! Mohur!! Half price!!). But since that is under the tree, I am wearing Volnay Brume d’Hiver, which I got at a great price due to a favorable exchange rate on vacation!!
Heh I know, it really is a dizzying thought!! So happy you got one, that’s awesome 🙂
I am so jealous of your Mohur, and so happy for you as well 🙂 My wallet is glad I missed that particular sale, because I don’t think I could have resisted.
My favorite purchase this year is Mohur Extrait. I will treasure this scent for years to come. Thank you to meredifay who managed this split so well for me and one other!
In need of a lighter scent today I went with Creed’s Sublime Vanille..
Thank you for participating and making it possible for all of us!
That was meee! I had to take an overnight trip and brought a decant of Nahema with me instead; I seem to be developing a thing for roses. I’m back home and I think I’ll wear Mohur tomorrow, since I love it so.
I had a hard time picking my best buy today. I really like them all. I am having some anxiety today, so I picked one with good association. Lou Lou. My greatest friend gave it to me for my birthday this year. So even if it’s a stinky day, I still smell good.
Hope your day isn’t stinky at all.
You just made my day less stinky. Thank you.
You smell great! Someone in one of my classes in college wore Lou Lou and it took me until the end of the semester to strike up the nerve to ask what she was wearing…it was her signature scent!
My “best buy” is defined by how often I wore it: a bottle of Byredo 1996 that I bought in February. Except for the summer months, I’ve worn the heck out of it! Worth every penny.
I used the same definition of Best Buy so I am in No.19!
Am wearing not the Tom Ford Noir Femme ( which I think was one of my best grooming purchases of the year- I got the gift set which was the same price of the perfume!) but Clinique Aromatics Elixir- the tiny bottle of this is like $30, and a DAB will do you! Because of this, the botle will last forever and a day.
This is one hell of a chypre, and you really have to be in a mood to be a hell of a woman to wear this. I already had three men at work stop me and ask what is different today.
OOTD: Non ugly Christmas sweater(it’s a beautiful vintage Norwegian sweater with a very pretty pattern), jeans, short red boot and (very fake) reindeer ears!
yes to AE! The nurse in my doctor’s office was wearing it the other day and she smelled divine!!!!
Funny story I have to share. I got a sample of this from NM during their beauty event week. When I saw it, I automatically gave it to my brother, thinking it was for men. I never got a chance to actually smell it because I had a sinus infection at the time. He told me that it smelled amazing and he loved it but knew it would cost too much. When I finally got my sense of smell back and went to smell the sample, he drained it dry! So, I decided to purchase it for him for a Christmas gift. I have been sick since Thanksgiving and my flu turned to pneumonia, so I haven’t had the energy to be out and about. So I purchased it on line. Then I noticed it……..this is supposed to be for women (hence the name femme)….OMG! It has already arrived and I have wrapped it up and put it under the Christmas tree. I am embarrassed to say anything to him. He said he got a lot of compliments on it! Do you all think I should tell him?
Just tell him that FEMME stands for:
For Extremely Masculine Men …Errr???!!
That’s funny!
You can have a very nice conversation with him about how silly companies genderize (I know this is not a real word) perfumes when they really should not.
Amen.
AE is really very unisex to me anyway. Tell him that you know lots of people who think that a man with the balls to wear the right women’s scent is dead sexy. Some things I’ve smelled on men: Mitsouko, Coco, Fracas(!), Poison. All were wonderful.
I don’t know what the big deal is. My husband will wear a pink and lavender shirt, his favorite color is purple (he will tell you it’s black, but he lies), he willingly helps me shop for shoes, but he asks suspiciously if what I’m spraying him with is “for men”.
Noir, not AE. I did read, I promise. Actually, both would be great on a man.
Thanks. Good advice.
In Beige, from a swap, and I don’t consider this cheating one tiny bit! Also, an in-person swap is even more fun than via mail.
I didn’t buy much of anything this year. I’m wearing a homeopathic amount of Jungle l’elephant today. The one ounce size bottle I think I got for under $35 from Fragrancenet last year. Definitely less is more with this one. Just one partial spritz to the torso is the right amount for me. Used very sparingly, this one is lovely and complex as opposed to heavy and overwhelming (as it can be when over applied).
Love “homeopathic amount.” 🙂
Me too…..6X, or maybe 10 X? LOL!
I surprised myself by liking L’Elephant. It is not at ALL my usual thing, and I can only wear my sample on freezing cold days… but nice.
Wearing one of my Cabotines today (Gold). They are always a good buy at the discounter where I check things out.
This is entire week I thought the Friday project was to wear your best deal of the year instead of your best purchase. SO: I guess I’ll tell my story anyway. I’m wearing Kilian Back to Black which I purchased through Gilt and came with the beautiful clutch. It was 148 (as opposed to 295) and I had a promotion for half off, so I got it for 74 bucks!
Zowie.
That’s fantastic! BtB is a wonderful perfume and would be a bargain even without the clutch. Congratulations!
Best deal, best purchase, who’s counting? I tend to interpret the challenges in whatever way best suits me and I doubt that anyone cares that I don’t always play by the rules. You got a great deal and should be gloating accordingly 🙂
WOW, half-off at Gilt, sorry I didn’t get that offer (but really glad you made such good use of it!) Congrats, that’s awesome.
My best buy for 2015 is probably Chanel Bois des Iles, as my most worn.
But I’ve been so taken by my Ormonde Jayne samples, today I’m wearing the third, Tolu. Gorgeous! It fills roughly the same niche as Coco for me and it’s not on the same level as Ta’if, so probably not a FB contender, but I certainly wouldn’t mind if a bottle fell into my lap. ????
I’ve decided that I have to buy the complete 12-sample OJ discovery set now.
YOu are inspiring me to look into the 12 sample set, as well!
Let me know if you do. We can discover together. 🙂
Send me an email. As I mentioned somewhere, I scored a 120 ml bottle of Tolu last year (for the price of a on-sale 50 ml.) Can send you some, once I check to ensure I have some decant bottles left. Happy to share!
you can reach me at eabrit in the gggmmailll world
Wow, thank you so much! I’m really loving Tolu more and more as the day goes by. Still going strong.
Hi dottieCHI, I’ve got an OJ discovery set I’d be happy to sell you. Tested just a couple of sprays from each. Shoot me an email… emc dawt 7 1 1 7 in the land of gggggmail.
Definitely interested, email sent!
Piping up to say this seems like a good plan to me (assuming geography allows!)–for my two cents, I think liking Taif/Tolu/Champaca (those are really three of the best in the set, IMO) may not necessarily predict liking the rest, so a lightly used set could end up being plenty.
Oh, good to know. I was thinking that if the others are as good as these first three, my nose would be in heaven but my budget would be in trouble!
Yes I think of the ones in the set, beyond the ones you’ve already mentioned, there are probably three or four more that get a lot of love–but usually not all from the same person, I think. I myself have only been moved to buy Champaca–and then I know there are plenty of people who like OJ Woman but not any of the others–etc.
But no promises! Many of them do have a similar base, so, who knows, there is a risk it will just suit you perfectly! 🙂
I have tried them all except the new Iris Vanilla – does anyone have a drop of this they can spare? I can offer all kinds of wonderful smellies, tea or chocolate in exchange. 🙂
Hope someone can help you out!
Happy to share. I think you have a U.S. address as we’ve swapped before. I will email you.
Yes I do, thanks so much!! Email addy you probably have has changed, pls email to cazaubon at geemail dott comm. Thanks!!
Hello all! Finally, the chaos of work and the whirlwind that is this holiday season has granted me a brief reprieve. I fully intend to binge-read the weeks of posts I’ve missed this weekend and will get back to regularly commenting.
My Best Buy this year was a $51 lot of perfumes with Dior Dune, Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir, and Shalimar EDT. I wasn’t able to reply back to Portia on Perfume Posse, but I’ll do it here; all of these were on my wishlist and I am amazed I found them all in one place, and for such a great price!
Feeling quite lucky and grateful for the year thus far. Everyone stay warm and enjoy your holidays! 🙂
All of those are fantastic!
I meant to post this with my original post. Happy Birthday to Keith Richards! A true musician. one of if not the best, and my favorite.
I’m torn between Dior Bois d’Argent and Chanel No. 19. The 19, in line with Hajusuuri’s comment yesterday, is frequently worn, and seems to have prompted a green leaning.
OTOH Bois d’Argent is such a great go to, appropriate to even the most prickly situation. Albeit not cheap. But I guess being the perfume equivalent of the UN isn’t a bargain endeavor.
In an adult take on a Christmas wish list, I’ve decided to write a thank you letter to Santa for all the good things that came into my life this year. Not done yet, but the research (calenders, checkbook, memories, photos) has been very gratifying.
Merry merry to all!
I probably should have worn Passage d’Enfer. But forgot about today’s theme and im in Infusion d’Iris, which I did buy recently at a sale. I do love it too, so I guess it will do 🙂
Small celebration here so have just ordered a bottle of Canoe Skive. Unsniffed, but I love kayaking, leather and campfires so what can go wrong???!!! The postage was around NZ $50 so am expecting a nice smelling stamp…scratch and sniff. Heard back from Penguin last night and they ‘love’ my novel, and no changes necessary ( just copy editing). It will come out in July. Big relief…I tend to expect rejection. It’s my tenth and I never imagined getting to this place when I left paid work and began writing. Feeling quite proud, to be honest.
Happy Christmas ( or not-Christmas). Happy summer and winter wherever you are!
Huge congratulations, Kanuka! I have Edwin & Matilda on my Kindle now for reading in the near future.
All the best to you for the Holidays and 2016!
Thank you.
You might like Philippe Claudel’s book ‘Parfums’. His writing can be very beautiful ( in a kind of Sebald, John Berger way) . A bit of a mixed book but some wonderful perfume memories to dip into.
https://jacquiwine.wordpress.com/2014/10/14/parfums-by-philippe-claudel-tr-by-euan-cameron/
I read that this summer, it was interesting and not what I expected. Congratulations on your book!
Congratulations! that is really great news. You should feel very proud. What you have accomplished has taken great courage.
Ha ha … It’s taken great financial support and patience from my husband!
Congratulations on the book! You’re justifiably proud – and deserving of a perfume celebration 🙂
Thanks Matey! Have a fun summer.
Oh, best news! I’m just starting up to buy my Christmas reading, and your novels are at the top of my list. I’m wearing, by the way, one of the perfumes from your more than generous parcel: In the Library. I love it; it’s sort of cerebral but warm.
I’m wearing Still in Bed…a mix of coffee, oats and dusty dog fur layered with honeysuckle ( thanks neighbours) and soapy carnation ( thanks Waterdragon). Driving up to ChCh to bring my mum down to Dunners for Christmas so we can argue over new potatoes vs. roast potatoes, poured vs. whipped cream…and why we are cooking enough for 12 when there are only 4 of us. Christmas! Too many cooks in the kitchen.
My Still in Bed was porridge, home-made yoghurt and berries, lightened in the top notes by warm Isabella fur, so we’re on much the same page. This is the first Christmas in 44 years together that Richard and I will be in our own home and alone together. Our plan for Christmas dinner is no plan. If it’s cold or wet (might be), we’ll stay home and cook some lamb, and if it’s beautiful (not impossible) we’ll maybe have a picnic at a beach. Richard sort of wants self-saucing choccy pudding and vanilla ice cream; I want cherries. Both those are stressly achievable.
Congratulations! And I’m off to download Edwin & Matilda. Who knew we had such a talent amongst us?!?
Thanks!
Wow, I am so happy for you!! That is just wonderful, thanks for sharing the news with us. And count me among those excited to read your work!
Edwin & Matilda is wrapped up under the tree for me as well! looking forward to reading it, and congrats!
Congratulations! 🙂
Congratulations, how wonderful!
So very happy for you.
Congratulations on the book, Kanuka. Canoe Skive is wonderful!
I made several fantastic discoveries that led to purchases this year, including Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 Mortal Skin, Unum LAVS, DSH The Voices of Trees, Elie Saab L’Eau Couture, and Jeffrey Dame’s Dark Horse. I think my very ‘best buy’ of 2015 was Eric Buterbaugh’s Regal Tuberose, which I am enjoying again today.
Love Dark Horse…both my teenage daughter and my dad own full bottles ( thanks to moi 🙂 !!)
Oh, I am definitely getting a sample of The Voices of Trees! CaFleurebon had a review of it yesterday and it sounds wonderful.
I only sampled the Apollo Hyacinth from the Buterbaugh collection, but it’s gorgeous. I have so far been able to resist trying the rest of them, lest my wallet start yelping in pain!, but it’s tough.
I looked at the website last week and was bumbed that the smallest sample set was in the $300 price range unless I looked in the wrong spot.
Wow! At least it’s 80ml of perfume, but still, $300 is a very pricey blind buy!
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
Best Buy = Most Frequently Worn.
No.19 is so versatile. I’ve worn it in 90 degree weather in Tallin this summer (port stop on my Baltic cruise) and today in NYC in the 40s.
You’re right, it’s versatile. I don’t tend to long for it in winter, but I *have* worn it occasionally, when I had a craving. Lovely, lovely stuff.
It is definitely not something I would pick first during the dead of winter but it has its place when I know I will be stuck indoors.
Ooooh, a Baltic cruise must have been wonderful. I traveled the Baltics this fall (and Petersburg) via train, bus, and rental car. Such a beautiful, interesting, and friendly region.
I was too lazy to plan how to get from place to place and a cruise worked for me. We were in St. Petersburg for 2 days — I still could not get enough of The Hermitage!
I didn’t buy anything that I consider a bargain this year, but I did do a very excellent swap: some unloved Amouage Lyric for Women (from my very first split in 2009!), for some much coveted La Fille de Berlin. So I am wearing that and it is just perfect! Swaps are the best deal ever!
AnnS, so true about swaps!!!
I agree! Swaps are great! We have some very generous swappers here on NST too.
One of them is, definitely, Rappleyea!
Ahhh… thank you!
Love Lyric! La Fille, not as much 😉 Swaps are handy!
😉 Yes they are!
Well, my bottle of Guerlain Vetiver is out for delivery right now. That’s got to be my best buy of the year. Once it gets here I’ll spray some on right away.
It came, it finally came! I’ve just sprayed some on my forearm, layered over Rose 31 body lotion. I smell amazing.
Ooh interesting combo.
I need to try this! And your excitement (below) was infectious!
I should have said above, not below!
I am wearing a sample of Fendi Theorema today, appropriate in a way as my “Best Buy” this year was truly lots of samples that provided hours of fun sniffing all kinds of fragrances.
But if we are talking bottles, I will say JHAG Miss Charming which I found for a discount and have found more enjoyable and wearable than I even expected!
Mu favourite buy of 2015 is probably my Bois des Iles extrait that I bought for my wedding. However, it felt a bit overindulgent to wear that on a ordinary day like today is so far, so I am wearing the next best thing: Cristalle, which I bought with points, so basically for free!
My husband mentioned intending to buy me some Chanel for Christmas, and when I mentioned that what I wanted (Les Exclusifs) ran roughly $200 I was met with a very blank look. I’m sure he would agree, free is good.
It will probably be petit rien (which I got a partial bottle from ebay for 30$) or theorema, which I encouraged everyone to get before it was gone from beautyencounter. It was more the year of swaps for me, which is good considering the way this year is closing out (moving, crutches, etc). I even might splash them on together.
Weird semi related topic: I use rosehip oil to moisturize, and in the best buy tradition, look for the 100% stuff at winner’s (Canadian TJ Maxx) when it turns up.
The latest bottle (10$) I bought said 100%, but smelled of baby powder roses when I put a few drops on my face. Ugh. I looked at the ingredients, and sure enough, “fragrance.” It didn’t make me break out so now I feel compulsed to use it until its gone. So every scent I wear is probably laced with this rosy stuff, which might be more acute to me, due to nasal proximity.
There’s a NZ company called ‘Trilogy’ that only do organic rosehip products….their oil is great and ok on sensitive skin. Think they ship internationally.
http://www.trilogyproducts.com/products/range/rosehip-oil?gclid=CN7AuImm5skCFQt0vQodP5IIFA
JJ, for what my opinion’s worth, I use Trilogy products (see Kanuka’s post) all the time. I just about marinate in the rosehip oil, in fact. No scent, very easy, does what it says on the tin, as it were. The exchange rate in your direction should be very sweet, making the postage inconsiderable. I am not connected to this company, by the way, except by the strings of long-time purchasing.
Not sure about my best buy – this was my year of complete perfume-buying craziness. I certainly can’t name a favourite, but in terms of bargains, some quite amazing prices on Annick Goutal and L’Artisan at fragrancenet, even when adding in the exchange rate and postage.
I haven’t yet bought from them, but you and Perthgirl have now given me the confidence. Off I trot to see what I can see!
I have made a few purchases from them and I was very pleased. It’s one that I will probably use a bit more often.
I buy from them frequently. I haven’t had any issues with returns either.
I am torn between my best bargain and my most loved purchase, so I’ll go with my best bargain which is a little of both, a bottle of Arpege perfumed lotion called Un Voile d’Arpege. After searching around the Internet, this appears to be fairly rare and from the 70s and it smells divine! I don’t slather it on because it has separated a bit, I’m pretty sure even though the bottle is black. But applied like any liquid perfume, it’s lovely. Fifty cents at an estate sale, I was so excited and had to keep my cool till I was in the car.
Most loved is En Voyage Zelda, I bought a bottle last spring and have enjoyed it so much.
fragrance purchase of the year has to be Cuir Beluga by Guerlain. I love this so much . I am getting my 2nd bottle after draining my first …too quickly I might add.
This scent caused a guy to chase me down at the gym because he could smell it 5 meters away ! He absolutely was in love with the scent . I was v surprised as I have stopped smelling it now I have used CB so frequently.
Price wise I cannot call this my best buy but in terms of happiness and smell satisfaction etc, it is.
Cuir Beluga…one of my all time favorites! I bought mine last year or it would have been a contender since I wore it a lot!
I’m thinking my best buy will be Gourmand Coquin, which I was able to get for 42% off! Still probably overpriced, but it’ll really be unusual compared to others I have. Told my husband I went ahead and got my Christmas gift from him. He can wrap it when it arrives….
My other best buy was probably the Arquiste 57 from J. Crew. Got that on huge discount. I like it quite a bit – should have worn it but forgot.
I see all the comments of late re Jeffrey Dame. My sister and my niece love all his scents as far as I can tell.
Wow, I have this on my wish list – how did you get it for 42% off?
Oh, congrats on the Guerlain! Great deal!!
Good job you! Inquiring minds want to know how you got 42% off!
My best buy? Let me count the bottles…Hmmm. I can’t choose. I like everything I bought, and overall, I like my perfumes even more than I like my clothes. Obviously, I could live without perfume, but I’m very glad I don’t have to, so my best buys are all of them. Sorry to be slightly Pollyanna-ish about today’s project, Robin. I imagine I’m getting a fail grade today.
I hope you all get a kick out of my “senior” moment from earlier today… I was getting ready for our office Christmas lunch and being aware of today’s Friday Project, I thought I’d wear Krazy Krizia ($15 for a 50 mls. bottle!). But something made me check my list of purchases that I keep for my confession to Donatella to see if maybe I was overlooking something. I was! Krizia was bought in 1st qtr. 2014! Turns out I only bought 2 bottles (actually 1 small bottle and 1 split) this year so I wore Champagne (20 mls. bottle for $30 on ebay).
I didn’t buy much perfume this year so I’m in eau de rochas, my summer favourite! Got it on sale for pebbles. It’s not great for winter but it’s still delicious. I got a new scented candle, from Muji of all places, and it’s unexpectedly lovely – orange blossom, not soapy, good throw. They’re quite cheap and I spotted a fig room spray too, gonna have to investigate further!! Fig scent in winter is so soothing.
Muji is my new favorite store! It is conveniently on my way home (or I should say I make sure I navigate the streets and avenues such that somehow Muji happens to be on my way home).
I’m sure i’ve forgotton some of my purchase’s which have consisted of partially used or heavily discounted bottles from ebay, but the favourites that spring to mind are, Songes, l’air de Rien, L’ombre dans l’eau and l’ambre des merveilles, the last 3 are such work horses, it’s impossible to choose.. alright, if i have to, L’air de rien, or maybe l’ambre..
Hi all,
My SOTD is Vintage Fendi perfume.
Vintage Fendi….so jealous.
lillyjo,
This is one fragrance I could not be without on a desert island. 🙂
same here. one of my few bottle repurchases. the bottle I have now isn’t vintage. it smells the same, just lacks the depth.
I had a lot of good buys this year, and my favorite buy may not exactly be my BEST buy… but I did get a vintage boxed set of Cabochard EDT that came with a wee bottle of parfum for $40 on the bay, and I wear both all the time and am very happy I clicked “buy.” Enjoying the parfum today!
Ohhhh cabochard is amazing! I’m betting the parfum is otherworldly. My grandmother had an ancient bottle of cabochard bath goop, opaque dark green, and I always sniffed it when I visited as a child. I got a spare bottle of vintage edt when I helped her move this summer and it’s terrific!!
I have a few good buys, but as I was thinking about what to wear today, I realized I couldn’t remember exactly when I bought each of them. So I decided to go with one that I was 100% sure I bought this year, which is Marni Rose. Got it for just under $40 at TJ Maxx.
I had a great perfume year, but the one I’ve probably worn the most is Fève Délicieuse, so I went with that.
You smell delicious!
I am extremely late to the party today. But as they say, better late than never. My favorite purchase of 2015 and my SOTD is Pear& Olive by Slumberhouse.
You will get an enabler pin as I believe my amour nocturne arrives later today. Can hardly wait to try. I figure if I don’t care for it, the price was sure right and I can give to someone. I wasn’t even aware of Hautelook and I have a Nordstroms card. What’s with that?
Lol! Let me know what you think of it! 🙂
I bought a lot of perfume this year but the ones I remember off the top of my head are DSH Oeillets Rouge and Hiram Green Voyage. I’m wearing Voyage today, but both are lovely. Also memorable are DK Black Cashmere and my newest bottle, from Roja Dove’s outlet sale, Lilac extrait, which is AMAZING and would have been totally unaffordable without going in with some other people on a bulk buy to offset the ridiculous shipping charges.
I got a bottle of that Lilac extrait too, but it is still sitting with remik as I won’t be back in the US until med January. So glad to hear you are thrilled with yours. I have wanted it for a long time and this deal finally made it a reality.
My patience paid off! I could never pull the trigger on Tom Ford Sahara Noir. $150.00 for 50 ml? I just could not do it. I finally scored a bottle on FragranceNet for $80.00, practically free! I have been wearing it since it arrived earlier in the week.
Ooh, good one.
Maybe not a Best Buy,or even a cheapie, but I finally,FINALLY(!!!!) got my hands on two “vintage” NIB Fendi Palazzo’s.100mls nonetheless!!Palazzo has been elusive to me since forever, and it’s the ONE scent I’ve been hunting down these past couple of years like a mad perfumista.Happiness.Alas it was not my SOTD,that honor went to Tommy Girl,as light and fresh as ever on this VERY hot African midsummers’ day.Happy weekend all!
Score! Us perfumistas are an obsessive lot, feverishly pursuing elusive bottles. What great satisfaction to finally get it (ummm THEM) in your hot little hands!
I knew I would get some approval here amongst my kindred spirits!Hehe
Eau des Minimes is my best buy for today. It is juicy citrus over a lovely, delicate floral heart with just a bit of an aromatic base. I have been enjoying it since this summer and have barely made a dent in the very tall bottle. Eau des Matines is also lovely.
SOTD was SSS Winter Woods. I finally sprang for a FB after draining a couple of sample vials of this. It is wonderful in the cool weather we are finally getting. It is really quite concentrated; one or two spritzes are enough, so the 17 ml bottle should last me quite a while.
I love Winter Woods, so perfect for this weather!
