Balmain + H&M ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 October 2015 15 Comments

Balmain H&M

Balmain will launch Balmain H&M, a new fragrance for the limited edition Balmain / H&M fashion collaboration due to debut in H&M stores early next month (the perfume will be available in December).

The notes for the "warm, woody" fragrance feature jasmine, tonka bean, blond woods, Texas cedar, white musk and sandalwood.

Balmain H&M will be $40 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I was mildly intereted until I did the math: $40 for 100ml + white musk = dryer sheet drydown.

You know, probably. But I suppose we could hope. Likely it will sell out before I remember to go look for it anyway.

Hats off to H&M and Balmain for doing an affordable perfume collaboration. Just hope it’s not a ‘same old/ same old ‘ scent. I kind of wish there was a bit more of a Swedish vibe to it….either in terms of environmental notes like pine and lakes or birch, or even food or something quirky ….a kind of Wallander/ The Bridge night time/ crime vibe. Won’t matter as we are in a H&M free zone.

Not sure that would fit the clothing in the collection! Sounds fun though.

    Balmain + H & M = Iso E Super squared (IMHO)

I would buy it too. I still have a 50ml bottle of the perfume they did with Comme des Garcons which is more than good and definitely much better than all those pretentious “niche” brands with those pocket offensive price tags just because the bottle and the packaging are highly prestigious..

Do you think we could get the trademark on Iso E Super Squared…?

I mean, there are some good perfumes out there for $40 for 100 mL- the Laurence Dumonts come to mind. Pour un Homme and Habanita sometimes go for that much. Hell, even Bal a Versailles sometimes does. So it doesn’t mean it’s definitely terrible, right?
I mean, more likely than not, but I’m going to hold on to hope.

Oh, absolutely. I am not doubtful because of the price.

I think H&M did well with their Karl Lagerfeld fragrance. It smelled like freshly baked bread, an idea Karl had proposed for an earlier perfume of his, but was scratched because it was not commercial enough.

Blonde woods + cedar reads as iso e super to me, too. I don’t mind though.

I dropped by my local H&M last night to ask about this one. The manager told me that the fragrance would be in stores on November 5th, at the same time as the whole Balmain collection.
… and that the limited number of bottles usually sells within the day.
