Balmain has launched Rose de Soie, a new floral addition to the Les Éternels de Balmain collection.
Rose de Soie is an elegant floral, radiating at the peak of its bloom. Almost touchable — like silky petals draped around skin. Softly swirling, ever vivid, dewy: a bold candied-rose sweetness.
***
Florals surge instantly: vivid rose water sparked by piquant baies roses. At the heart, sun-lit orange blossoms illuminate all the facets of fresh pink roses. Rich roasted tonka unfolds, releasing sweet undertones of caramel. Its warmth sweeps into a creamy, musky, candied-rose trail, soft as silk. A new olfactive elegance emerges—bold and resolutely Balmain.
Balmain Rose de Soie is available in 10 and 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

Balmain… Just the logo/name sounds very chic. Not that I ever wear any high fashion pieces (never to be exact hehe) but I have seen some Balmain things while sorting through the pages of a fashion magazine (hello dentist, hello doctor – first thing I ever do is look for a magazine rack/coffee table) or just even on some internet blogs I ventured to by a mere chance. Usually whatever “Balmain” I have seen caught my eye I think because of the chic logo/name on it. Balmain sounds so classy!!
Rose… I used to bathe in Chanel Paris-Paris. My SO ruined it for me in a way. He defects rose in my perfumes like a radar and every time is although very apologetic, but very blunt: any fragrance with the tiniest gallop of rose in it smells like “toilet water” or “scented toilet paper” to Him. It’s so bad that He smells rose in things I can’t even notice any. Chanel Paris-Paris and Allure Sensuelle take the cake for Him. He ends up asking me one million times why would someone even put that on their skin, and apologized again. He says He wants to “love all my things” and He feels so sad every time He has a negative comment about my perfume. I will never stop loving these though and I do wear these fragrances when I am not around Him. He absolutely cannot stand Coco Mademoiselle because it has rose in it. I have never met a person who doesn’t love or at least like Coco Mademoiselle.
That being said I love the bottle of this Balmain and the logo, but I probably won’t be going after Rose-centric fragrances.
I love rose but can live without Coco Mad quite happily…trust me, there are people who don’t like it 🙂
Wow and I can’t even imagine a world without Coco Mad… And I suppose you until 2000 there actually WAS a world without Coco Mad.
Hey, we’re all different, and we all love different things!
I don’t like Coco Mademoiselle either, but it’s more the patchouli that bothers me. Maybe your partner thinks it’s always rose but it could be other notes that bother him as well.
I absolutely love love love rose jam notes though – comes from Polish doughnuts made in Poland that have this distinct rose marmalade in it. The closest thing I ever found was Christian LaCroix Tumulte – of course discontinued and offered on Evilbay for a small car payment.
Candied rose trail? Yes please. Caramel? No thank You. Why nowadays every perfume that starts to sound good has to have caramel in it?
I had the same thought — this sounds good (and looks beautiful), but the list of notes seems to go from sweet to sweeter. I don’t mind caramel per se, but it seems like unnecessary sugar here. Hopefully a tester bottle will appear at my local Neiman Marcus.
Right? It was like sweet to sweeter…
This sounds like one I would enjoy + Balmain’s smell good on me but the last thing I need is another rose fragrance, so I’ll probably pass on it (but maybe a sample?)
Laila: what general thing can You say about Balmain fragrances? Is there some certain “Balmain” DNA that makes them smell good on You?
