Byredo Night Veils ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 12 October 2015 15 Comments

Byredo Casablanca Lily

Niche line Byredo will launch Night Veils, a new trio of evening-wear fragrances in Extrait de Parfum: Casablanca Lily, Midnight Candy and Reine de Nuit.

Casablanca Lily (shown) ~ "The first one of the night veils of this exclusive collection combines a strong plum with the hypnotic power of gardenia. This directs the nocturnal seduction over a subtle clove and a bewitching tuberose. A creamy base made of rosewood and honey completes the nocturnal experience." Additional notes include carnation.

Midnight Candy ~ "The second veil of the night starts with a soft iris and leads into a heavy, narcotic jasmine absolue – flanked by another flower of the night: the black violet. Warm osmanthus gushes over a vanilla infusion and takes care for a long lasting, nightly fragrant experience… Actually forbidden like candies in the night, but who cares?" Additional notes include carrot.

Reine de Nuit ~ "The third night veil of this exclusive collection starts with a soft saffron and the fruity power of black currant. And as the night absorbs the day, the midnight rose opens her flower embedded in a spicy incense. The power of the darkness gets momentum by patchouli and becomes completed in a base by black ambergris and powdery ambrette seeds."

The Byredo Night Veil collection is available now for pre-order (November delivery) at Essenza Nobile in Germany, €350 each for 30 ml.

I know it’s been said many times before but I’m feeling the frustration: why three releases at once?!?! It’s hard enough to keep up….I’m interested in Byredo but I don’t know how long it’ll take me to get around to sniffing all three of these. Argh.

My frustration is more about the price :-)

Casablanca Lily sounds particularly interesting, especially if it doesn’t contain lily

I’d be surprised if there’s no lily, but who knows.

Pretty bottle. Intriguing notes. Soul-sucking price.

Clearly, if I am going to continue and expand as a perfumista, I need a better stream of income…I’ve given up on winning the lottery, but I need to explore other options…LOL!

Surely one aspect of expanding as a perfumista is learning to judge a good value?

Speaking of good value, it irks me when the pricing of a perfume does not seem to be in line with its quality. If I simply don’t care enough for a perfume to spend the equivalent of a month or two of groceries, that’s one thing, but when it smells cheap it seems to reveal a contempt for the customer. I mean, for instance, people aren’t actually running around agarwood forests these days, are they?

Irks me too, and it’s very common. I do think in many cases the price is more related to the packaging than the juice.

Sounds decent, but why are they hiking the prices up so much!? for 30ml? Makes me wanna not buy it in (silent, smelly) protest

Presumably, because it’s extrait, plus better ;-)

“Forbidden like candles in the night”? Really?
