Ack, it's September already! What fragrance are you wearing to celebrate?
I'm wearing Diptyque Volutes.
Reminder: this Friday, 9/4, will be Back to School Friday...wear a perfume that says 'back to school' to you, or that says you mean business, or ....?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SOTD: Memoir Man (Amouage). On an Amouage kick this week, things could be worse! 😉
Ha, far worse!
I love amouage – you smell great. I love dia man- I almost like it better then the female version
I love Dia Man too; now where is that sample? 😉
I feel strangely fine with it being September. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wearing Divine L’Inspiratrice.
I would feel more fine if I wasn’t having to get up at 6:15. I prefer summer to fall anyway but the school schedule makes it worse.
Yeah, I loathed that about high school.
Divine L’Inspiratrice is one of the best!
Even though it’s not sweet, something about it reminds me of cherry snowcones.
Oh, you smell great! Extrait or edp?
EDP, but I’d love to smell the extrait!
Volutes! The edt is a favorite of mine. You smell suitably fall-ish!
SOTD is Box of Eels. Ahhhh! Now just waiting (rather impatiently!) for some fall weather.
Hey, you smell fantastic too!
Volutes and Box of Eels are both wonderful fall scents!
I’m first! What fun!
That school lunch picture brings back memories – just about enough to turn my tummy!
Today I am sampling a couple vintage fragrances courtesy of a very generous Leathermountain!
On my left hand I am wearing Casaque, a warm very vintagy LOTV, which I am already regretting not knowing about decades ago – it is just lovely. This is warm, not fresh. No point in discussing a comparion with Diorissimo – these are different beasts. There is a more or less current “recreation” mentioned in the blogs which gets thoroughly panned. Tomorrow perhaps I will compare this to my current favorite LOTV, the Muguet Fleuri by Oriza L. Legrand.
On my right, I am wearing L’Aimant (sp) by Coty, which is probably the first “real perfume” I remember wearing in High school, lo these many many years ago. This as I remember, very soft and pretty, and regrettably not very long lasting on me.
Oh, I wasn’t first, or at least I wasn’t fast enough! Hee!
Hmm, the time stamps are very out of order…
Weird, I am showing the time stamps in order, and your comment is fourth, posted 5 minutes after Deva.
You might have started as first and then wrote more?
Meredifay, I believe I owe you a reply regarding Neela Vermeire discovery set: you asked which one(s) I like. My personal favourite of the four is Trayee, I loved it from the first sniff already a couple of years ago. Mohur follows close behind: I prefer the parfum concentration (although I do not find the two very different, the parfum is just more intense), but it’s horribly expensive. Bombay Bling! is a fun, fun scent and I like it a lot. I probably wouldn’t buy a full bottle, but I will surely use up the 8 ml. Ashoka is the only one that doesn’t really work for me, it just refuses to come together on my skin. All are interesting, complex scents, well worth trying, if you haven’t.
FWIW, If I may chime in, I’ll say that I concur with your likes, although I’ve never tried Bombay Bling! Ashoka was a puzzling disappointment. Very glad I have samples of Mohur and Trayee and will replace when they’re gone.
BB! is a sunny, fruity, happy scent with a more interesting drydown than you’d expext from the description. You probably need to like mango and cardamom to like this – I love both.
tee hee hee (tickled)
Right now, I’m commando. Back to School this year meant sending Offspring the Younger (also Youngest) off to college 2 weeks ago. I’m still adapting. It feels like this radically different lifestyle might just need a different – or at least new – fragrance. I have a sample of Bois de Paradis that I might wear today, but just realized it’s going to be 90. Now, I dunno.
I’m torn between elation that summer isn’t over yet, and mild disappointment that the heat had to get so enthusiastic today.
Oh my goodness, of course that means you get a new FB! Totally new lifestyle. Needs new fragrance. That simple.
I agree- big changes always require a commemorative perfume
Yep, you defininitely need a FB of something 🙂 Time to whip out the wish list and see if anything happens to be on sale (tell me I’m not the only one who does this). Unless, of course, you have your heart set on one particular scent at the moment.
BdP is wearable in the heat, I’ve done it, but I recommend no more than a cautious spray under your shirt.
Always hard to send a kid off to college, even when you know Kid will be fine. (sigh.)
Chanel No 5 EDP again for me. Second day in row. Its so easy to love and wear often.
I just wish it had a little more staying power.
I have the same experience with no. 5. In no. 5 eau premiere today which has way more lasting power on me than the original.
My No. 19 edp (current version) doesn’t last nearly as long as my vintage edt. Odd, isn’t it?
I bought my mother a jar of No. 5 body creme a couple of years ago, and very often she wears a dab of it on her neck and wrists instead of the parfum I gave her for another occasion – and the body creme lasts for hours! She smells wonderful. She just told me last week that she was almost out, and would I please get her some more for Christmas. You bet, Mom. 🙂
Ooooh, No. 5 body creme may be my gateway to Chanel. Is the stable shelf life on the body products is as good as one would hope? I have fragranced lotion from other brands that faded after a year.
I’ve grown into an appreciative relationship with No. 5 and have been wondering if I should splash out and buy a bottle. I hesitate because it took me well over a year to use up a small decant of EdP. A little dab does it for me, so the body creme may be just the thing.
You might be able to find a small mini-size sample of the body creme on ebay – I saw one the other day when I was looking for the large 5 oz jar (retail it’s about $120, but I found one for $80). I paid about $75 two years ago when Parfum1 was having a sale, and they just HAPPENED to have the creme – they don’t have it now, I looked. 🙁
Even though I purchased it from the discounter and it’s been two years ago, Mom still smells great Can’t swear on the shelf life, but I can say that that particular jar seems to have lasted for some time.
No 5 is always a good choice!
today it’s Love, Chloe edp, my no-brainer office scent
I feel the same – I have a small bottle of Love in my drawer at work.
That is one of my favorites. Just thinking about pulling it out soon. I like it in the cooler months for some reason.
Forgot to put on any scent today. How can this possibly be? I will run over to Sephora when I run office errands later and maybe add a dab of Hermes Jour Absolue. Going to a Hall and Oates concert this evening in a wonderful venue: http://tinyurl.com/ovrkk6h
(I promise – nothing evil lurking in that link! But if links aren’t allowed, I apologize and just google Red Rocks Amphitheatre to see it.)
Links are allowed. And enjoy the concert!
One of my Mother’s quintessential teen experiences was seeing Harry Belafonte at Red Rocks in 1959. I hear it is a lovely venue.
Oh. That would have been fun…
Oh, my, Harry in concert. I bet that was terrific.
I love Hall and Oates! I hope you have a great time.
Sampling PG Jangala and loving it so far. Expecting my Indigo Vanilla and interesting samples today so I’m leaving some arm space free.
Whoa! That photo traumatized me. (((shudder)))
My SOTD is Mimosa and Cardamom by Jo Malone from a sample from Nordstrom.
I LOVE Diptyque Essences Insensees Mimosa. It’s one of my favorite perfumes. Positives: It touches me (gently) in a positive way at the gut-level; very high-quality ingredients; it does not smell like perfume. Negative: It lasts about three hours on my skin.
Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom: Positives: After testing it twice, it’s a strong like for me. It lasts much longer than the Diptyque. Negatives: It smells a little bit like perfume. I don’t smell any cardamom.
Eeek! I was just huffing my arm, and a co-worker just walked by my cubicle and saw me. I look extra strange because I don’t spray the inside of my wrist (my skin is too sensitive there); I spray the outside of my lower arm, so I look pretty weird :-0
Yeah, that photo ought to come with a trigger warning!
Yes. I was prepared, and averted my eyes reloading the page…!!
I am dying to sniff Mimosa and Cardamom! Big JM fan here. Sounds like most people are liking it, eh?
Yeah, that photo. Ugh.
OTOH, my school lunches never looked like that even at their worst (years ago!) and the lunches they currently serve at our high school aren’t great – but they don’t look like THAT. Thank goodness.
That picture totally grossed me out too. I just recall all those times when horrid canned green been “juice” would ruin the adjacent “entree” foods. Shuddering. Thankfully my daughter’s school does a much nicer job with food these days – nutritional targets and all. Not that she eats it…. Kids these days have no idea!
In shalimar soufflé today????
I don’t smell anything after 1 hour – maybe a good office scent ?
Just pressed monies to my wrist and I do smell a hint of vanilla
I meant nose but somehow my phone changed it to monies
🙂
I turned my auto-correct off. It was trying to make me out to be some illiterate, prejudiced, potty mouthed imbecile wierdo. Having to pay attention to my spelling/grammar is a pain, but not as painful as my evil iphone was 😉
I checked today and the Euro to US dollar conversion rate is becoming more attractive! 1.25 to 1.00. When the dollar is strong that means that all the full bottles of perfume one covets only found on European websites become somewhat affordable! I am still chasing my Scent on Canvas Noir de Mars. $185 with shipping down from over $250 less then 30 days ago. I am an economist. A Perfume Economist. I think it could go lower. Embracing my inner fragrancefund manager today and enjoying the Lush Breath of God lingering in my shirt from yesterday.
I bought that Scent on Canvas sampler last year and enjoyed it, by and large – the Ocre Dore’ is a straight-up Oriental, which is a genre I can’t manage, and the Blanc de Paris was harsh on me in a way that I usually get with linden notes. But I liked the others very well, particularly Brun Sicilien which I found surprisingly comfortable.
So – I hope you get your Noir de Mars!
As much as I don’t want to see the Euro diminish in value, hope springs eternal that I would finally be able to afford some spendy frags or a fantasy bargain trip to the continent somewhere….
My ‘discovery set’ (I feel compelled to put ds in quotes) from Bruno Fazzolari arrived yesterday. Sprayed a tiny bit of Five on the back of my hand when I went to bed. A nice cologne for those who love traditional citrus colognes, I mean the style/notes of “men’s colognes,” not the strength of the juice. More herby perhaps, and a little ozonic in the middle, and this morning my hand smells a little like sweet hay. Very nice.
I like several of them, but I haven’t yet had the nerve to try Room 237, as in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Please let me know if it’s safe to press that sprayer button.
I am a Summer person and can’t believe it’s almost over. (It is always the fastest season and flies by.) So in order to keep the Summer vibe going, this last week before Labor Day I’m going to wear summery fragrances. Today I’m wearing Tom Ford’s Fleur de Portofino.
Filomena, I’m with you! I want Summer to stay. It still feels pretty summery in NYC, since the public schools have not started yet, and it is appx. 90 degrees. I’m wearing Trefle Pur and plan to wear nothing but summery goodness all week. Except maybe for Friday. 🙂
Missionist, I am with you! I really like Trefle Pur.
Happy rest of Summer!
I am so sad that the summer is ending! We had such an amazing summer and the best one I’ve had in years. I do this thing with my daughter (who is 7) when I pretend to very dramatically cry, and say, Whaaa! the summer is over, I am so sad, I love the pool, my flowers will die, etc, etc. And she laughs and says, don’t worry mommy, it will be back next year. And then I think, god willing, right? We still have to make it through a miserable winter!
Shanghai Lily today. Perfect balance of spring lily and autumn spice. Yum 🙂
I can only imagine the post-lunch carb coma after that meal :-/ lol
You smell great. I need a bottle of that
Yes, you smell great.
I needed a bottle too 🙂 it was a bit cringe-worthy paying TF prices (even at a discount) but hey, it just had to be done! No regrets 🙂
Second day back at work, so I need all the help I can get and am continuing with my Office Scents Greatest Hits. Today, Cristalle EDT.
Perfect! Your colleagues will appreciate your taste, and I think you’ve inspired my eventual choice for today. Thank you.
You are most welcome! I keep a bottle of Cristalle in the office at all times, in case I forget to put perfume on in the morning or it’s gone by the afternoon.
That’s a good idea. I will follow that from tomorrow–strictly today, but somehow it doesn’t feel as though the day has started yet.
I like Cristalle, but it doesn’t seem to stay with me very long. Most EDTs last on me quite well, but this one I can spray with abandon!
This seems to be very individual – I have no issues with Cristalle, but I find several other EDTs too fleeting. Fortunately, I love to spray liberally 🙂
Cristalle !!!
Yes!
A very good morning to all. My SOTD isn’t, yet, ‘cos it’s nowhere near my day yet to have a scent of: 2.05 a.m. and I can’t sleep. I can smell the tag-end of Chergui from yesterday–man, that baby has staying power! It’s interesting: if Chergui were a guest at a party, I’d be thrilled to see her arrive, but after a few hours of much the same conversation, desperate to ring a taxi for her so that she could go away again. So, whatever I do wear, it will be as unlike Chergui as I can find: 19, maybe, or Chamade. Even Nahema. Dunno. Hey, have a wonderfully scented day, everyone.
I doctored my bottle with Ylang-Ylang essential oil because I found the sweetness and tobacco quite discordant. It is improved. I also layer it with Bvlgari Black.
I’m not brave enough to doctor, but I can certainly layer. I’ll try that next time.
“As unlike Chergui as possible”! LOL! It’s nice to have choices…
Choice is true power, even in perfume…
Sorry to hear about the sleepless night 🙁
It happens sometimes, doesn’t it? I simply can’t stop thinking. Maddening, especially since I’m going to the ballet tonight, and I don’t want to fall asleep during the second act. That’s just too ageing to contemplate!
There must be something in the Universe right now because I also have been waking up for the past few nights at 2 am on the dot. This is ok but I struggle to slip back into the arms of sleep. Maybe the change of seasons. I will try some lavender EO under my nose tonight. May you slumber peacefully tonight waterdragon, after the ballet.
Thank you. And then to Oz, to meet R for a few days in Sydney. I’ve got some lavender. I think I’ll try it and deep breathing.
I did that! It wasnt cool. I dragged my then bf to HMS Pinafore (which as you might imagine thrilled him to bits) because I Like Musicals. (And ballet and opera and all those theatre-y entertainments that none of my friends or family like) Except I was a shift worker and try as I might I simply couldnt keep my eyes open. I wasnt popular. And it was far more lively than ballets usually are, so I hope you make it til the end! Which one is it?
The Royal NZ Ballet is doing A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I’ve been looking forward to it forever–I love dance. And enjoy it I will, even if I have to rush home from work today and take a nana-nap before dinner! It’s my shout to my wonderful teaching team, and I would be MORTIFIED if I fell asleep in their company.
And Chergui replies: “Well, if you would go to sleep like you should, you wouldn’t even know I was here. And in the morning (I mean proper morning) I will be almost gone!” (She is a little defensive as she wouldn’t actually need a taxi having not drunk all that much and her very own very nice car is parked just down the street!)
Hmmm…you know her better then I do, but reckon she must have put away a fair bit to keep droning on and on like this. She was fun when she started, but now I’d rather listen to the collected speeches of our Prime Minister. Well, almost. I favour the taxi!
This would be pre reformulation Chergui. Modern Chergui cannot find her other shoe, nor does she have any cash, so she is walking home….as soon as she finds her other shoe.
I’ll give her a pair of mine, if she’ll just take the hint and make a move to the door!
Oh dear. She really has made a nuisance of herself!
LOL at this, and all the other anthropomorphizations of Chergui.
I was thinking Chergui after you mentioned her yesterday. Hmm. Well. If I decide upon her tomorrow I bloody well hope she’s got it out of her system because I hate those guests that see you yawning and cant take a hint..
Good luck. I don’t think I’ll ask her back unless it’s a beach barbecue, and I can plunge into the sea if she gets on my nerves! And bonus! she’ll probably keep mosquitos away too.
A little bit of Chergui smells like bug spray so I douse myself and enjoy it. I won’t sit next to you at the ballet 😉
Which is why I only wear it in summer. It opens up more and disappears faster. I love it though.
So enjoying this thread! My husband wore Chergui the other night so I will have to plot to sneak it from him for later in the week to experience this girl! SOTD a is ELDO La Fin du Monde – I am pretending it’s not 88 and humid by cranking the air and refusing to leave the house!
I’m wearing Jo Malone Geranium & Verbena today. I wanted something very light and herbal this morning because it’s hot here and I’m still coughing some. Perhaps I’ll touch up with a different JM at lunch.
Light, herbal, and layer-able — all the things about JM fragrances that make me smile. 🙂
SOTD is Nest Paradise. It’s been a while since I’ve worn my scents from the Nest coffret set that I got last year, so I decided on this one.
I’m sampling Aleksandr this morning from one of those samples that I didn’t know I had. It’s not in the database (!) so I haven’t a clue from whence it sprang. It’s maybe not what I was in the mood for but I like it enough to give it a real wear sometime.
It is still predictably hot here but the light is changing and I’m in a fall mood. I wore Ambre Russe to bed last night and I’m contemplating topping off with it later. Actually, I’m in the mood for SSS Ambre Noir but I can’t find my little travel sprayer or my sample 🙁 and have been looking for about a year now. When she puts the cart back up I must re-order.
I’m really dragging this morning. My husband was out of town and the girl kittens wouldn’t settle down. I felt so bad for Newburg, who was exhausted from playing in the sink for hours, that I let him sleep with me – which means I didn’t sleep. It was nice to cuddle a cat even if it wasn’t the same as poor old Bat.
It is going to be 90 degrees this week with lots of humidity here in the Virginia Banana Belt, so I feel your pain. Sorry to hear about Bat not returning and naughty kittens. Take a nap today! I think I will go another round with the feral white florals this week since it is still hot enough to enjoy them!
Yes, I hope she puts her cart up soon! I need a 34 ml bottle Rose Musc! I really do!
I have and love Rose Musc but since my Mom wears Velvet Rose and Laurie’s roses share a soul, I rarely wear it.
So sorry about Bat! Really.
Thank you very much. I’m not giving up hope but signs point to his being gone for good and I’m doing my best to get my head around it. I won’t stop searching though. Cats are born survivors and much less outdoor-adept cats have beaten greater odds.
I will, however, accept this sign that we need to keep Newburg and not try to find him a home. He has as much intelligence and personality as Bat had at his age and I was worried about finding someone who was patient enough for a really smart cat. He’s not a replacement and I wouldn’t want one but he has the same spark and charm – when I left the kittens at the vet, all the staff were arguing over who got to cuddle him and he was eating it up.
So sad that you still haven’t found him. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for you. Even though he’s not a replacement, I’m happy you at least have a kitty to keep you company.
One of our cats is really smart too… and I know exactly what you mean. I will keep a metaphorical candle in the window for him. I have also heard stories from SO MANY people about their cats coming home after a long wander… so who knows! But I am sorry that things are just not right, yet.
Warmly!!!
I wore Diptyque L’ombre dans l’eau to bed last night, and remnants on my pillow still smelled so great this morning that I’m wearing it again. This is a spring and summer scent for me so I need to enjoy it now before it gets packed away for the winter.
That’s such a gorgeous one. You smell wonderful.
Yum, maybe I’ll wear that tomorrow.
I used the shower gel version this morning and it was glorious.
Okay. Double dipping in the comments department. But, I applied Lampblack this morning and am really enjoying it. My overly simplistic impression (that I will probably regret moments after I hit “post comment”) is that it is a comforting combination of Bulgari Black and Encre Noir, but better because a perfumer created the scent rather than a mere human layering with ignorant abandon. I am also a little reminded of Le Labo’s Patchouli, which doesn’t smell like patchouli at all but like birch tar. Definitely not a summer scent. Here we go fall…. whoooweeee…..
Lampblack is good stuff.
That sounds fabulous.
I’m seriously contemplating an FB of Lampblack.
I haven’t tried Lampblack but you make it sound really tempting. It was on my sample wish list a while back but it got bumped by exciting new releases. Back on the list it goes!
That school lunch pic made me laugh out loud. Those poor kids…
I’m wearing Atelier Blanche Immortelle, which is a little heavy for the heat wave we’re having. It’s my silent protest to the weather gods. Psst…weather, it’s September, enough already!
BI is wonderful! And I totally support your dreams and desires for fall weather. 🙂
I can’t believe it’s September already. The summer just flew by!
I’m wearing TF Venetian Bergamot from a sample today. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. I’m getting a butter note that’s a little disconcerting.
PG Coze in an effort to force the fall weather.
Yay, another perfumista urging in fall weather! I need to try that PG, I have heard so much about it being perfect for the cooler season 🙂
Coze is pretty. I don’t get good longevity with PG scents though.
I second you – it is very nice and pretty but longevity is lacking
It is close to the skin, but present seven hours in for me and I have spent some time walking in the heat and humidity. I get far less with Indochine.
Really? Indochine lasts forever on me. I have a decant of Felanilla and a bottle of Praline de Santal and they are long lived too, at least for me. It’s one of the reasons I really like this line.
It could be the musk–there are a couple that I become anosmic to after a while.
SOTD is Marc Jacobs Daisy. A good one for the end of the summer.
Working from home, so it’s another sampling day. Plowing thru my Amouage samples, and thinking that this house doesn’t seem to fit me. Ah well, more Amouage for the rest of you, and more $ for me to spend on something that IS me 🙂
It doesn’t fit me either. Except for Fate Woman. That one fits me exceedingly well. Happy sampling 🙂
Amouage did not blow me away either.
Lyric is the only keeper of the Amouages that I’ve tried. However, I’ve only tried three. 🙂
I REALLY want autumn weather, so despite the muggy hot weather outside I put on Lyric Woman today. Hey, it’s freezing in the office, so at least I can sorta pretend it’s autumn-ish weather. It’s also reports week at work and I needed a good pick-me-up.
LOVE Lyric. You smell wonderful!! It’s probably my No1. Except that being No1, I dont want to ruin my love for it by accidentally creating negative memory associations with it by wearing it all the time, so I dont actually wear it very often. Which just seems so silly really :-/
No, I do that with Lyric too. I don’t wear it to Exam Board (hey! Fewer of those for me now!) I completely see your reasoning.
I do the same with Lyric and with L’Air de Rien. Odd, that I love them so much but am so careful with them. I wonder if it’s because they don’t fade into the background?
Yesterday was cold and rainy enough for me to bust out my cuir beluga decant, but by the end of the day, I felt I’d been too soon. (the day before? cuir de russie decant, which was closer to the right weight, but didn’t warm enough for the cold snap).
What next?
SOTD = FM Iris Poudre
Love it, as usual. I should give more love to other perfumes, like Diptyque Volutes and Eau Duelle.
To celebrate my birthday, I am wearing Ligea La Sirena layered over C&E lavender Shea butter. I was planning to wear Sballo but changed my mind when I spotted the Shea butter. Plus it is quite warm today. Still craving fall along with Deva. ????
Happy birthday!
happy birthday!
Hope it is a lovely day!
Happy Birthday Petunia!
Happy Birthday! Isn’t it fun being 21? 😉
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Petunia!
Thank you everyone!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
SOTD is PdN’s Jardin Secret which I think was a limited release in 2009. It’s a lovely fruity rose with a strong retro vibe, and very Nicolaï.
I really, really like this JS! I discovered a sample of it that I really didn’t know that I had from some swap or something. I’ve been judiciously using it b/c it’s almost gone. I keep thinking I need to track down a bottle. It’s so plushy, elegant, feminine. I get some of that lovely base that’s also in the famous Sacrebleu, which I can’t smell all that well. But for me with JS it’s a very light sweet rose and other vague florals – almost even some sort of dark civety note on that oriental base. Lovely. I wish I could still get one of those cute 1 oz bottles!
I have been lurking in the background for ages so it is time to start contributing 🙂
SOTD = Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge
Nice to hear from you, clarissa!
Welcome, Clarissa. I hope you’ve been lurking long enough to get a sense of NST as a lovely and scented community. If you have other Tom Ford’s, how does this compare?
I have a ton of smaller decants for TF – FB are just unaffordable 🙂
I really like Tobacco Vanille – I think this is for now at least (which all might change tomorrow) the favorite TF.
Jasmine Rouge is really nice and complex, but I can least cannot smell it on myself, so have to nag a friend and a co-worker to sniff me – which results in weird looks from the rest of the office.
Now I am craving Amber Absolu – I tried it a couple of days ago at Neiman’s while my son was re-arranging the whole TF display and spraying me with other things and did not like it. Once I tried the sample at home without little hands helping me, I like it more and debating how I can swing it.
Jasmine Rouge is gorgeous! Glad you aren’t lurking anymore!!
Welcome! I’m looking forward to hearing your fragrant opinions and experiences.
Hi Clarissa!
SotD is Iris Ukiyoé to help me through the day as I pretend it is still early summer and I won’t have to wake up the kids early tomorrow.
La la la, well hello there little alarm clock, so sorry, you may be ringing, but I can’t hearrrrr youuuuuu. :p
They are persistant little devils, those alarm clocks…
SOTD is my long neglected decant of AT Maroc pour Elle. It seems to just work for this end of summer heat. I haven’t worn it in so long, and I forget how much I love it. It has so much personality.
I love that one (thanks to you!) the 15ml explorer size is perfect for the occasional day of being hippy-European royalty.
Yes, I need to figure out how to get more. I have about 8 mls left – which will last for a while – but it never hurts to have some back up juice!
Are you interested in the new Tauerville Incense that’s about to launch?
I haven’t looked at the notes so I’m not sure. I’m not keeping up, lol!!!
My first Tauer and still my favourite!
On a gardenia kick for these last few days, which means I dug out my bottle of Annick Goutal’s Gardenia Passion today…its a strange one and I don’t wear it frequently, but September of not, it’s nearly 90 damn degrees these days so tropical scents it is.
This reminds me that I blind-ordered a bottle of Madonna’s Truth or Dare last night in a fit of what must have been temporary insanity, since I won no celeb scents and have no desire to…I was sucked in by the descriptions of creamy gardenia and the insanely cheap price. I guess I’ll see how THAT turns out…
Whoops, I OWN no celeb scents, not won. Sorry.
I’ve got one by Jessica Simpson– Fancy Nights. It was a blind buy on the strength of a warm-ish review somewhere, and it turns out that I really rather like it for weekends and walks and things. Easy stuff. Hope your celubscent works out as well.
I think I might have gotten super lucky with Dior Mitza – they briefly had it available for purchase yesterday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my order goes through – I ended up buying up a ginormious bottle that would last me lifetime – swaps anyone? 😉
count me in! Email by clicking on my user name…
Love to swap! To Canada?!
No worries, my email is marianna_r in the land of yahoo. Ping me with yours and i will let you know when the bottle arrives
Wearing Dior Addict for what might as well be the first day of fall. This is a new bottle. I know it’s been reformulated, but this seems ridiculous. I have sprayed one million sprays and it just disappears. I’m going to have to take it back.
Oh no! That makes me sad. Addict used to be long lasting and wonderful. I hate when they turn perfumes into weak, pale versions of their former selves.
Wearing DK Cashmere Mist Liquid Nude. Have two bottles, absolutely a lifetime’s worth of this scent. Define fall/winter/spring thing, and i might be a tad early with it. The lily of the Valley and musk are giving me pause. But, it’s overall lovely and my mood is such that nothing would sit right. Edgy, i feel edgy. Not cute, fun, hip edgy. Slightly cranky, “everything’s fine, thanks, now go away” edgy. Hopefully my pizza lunch will even things out. 😀
Way late, just in case anyone is curious: the pizza worked its magic!
Pizza cures a multitude of ills!
Finally went to Sephora the other day and got to sample Jardin de Monsieur Li, so that is my SOTD. Just reread Robin’s review – it is very gauzy and I like it. Maybe not FBW, but if I can find one of those little travel bottles, I might just snap it up.
I’m sampling Fior di Lilla from Borsari 1870. It smells like a potent air freshener. Maybe it’s for tourists? Part of a little set of minis, in a compact-type case with a mirror. I like the name so much.
Testing Dior Sauvage (the Johnny Depp fronted scent). Pleasant bergamot, pepper, vague sweet fruit and the woody/amber scent of ambroxan. Nice, but unexciting. The perfect scent to wear when you want something unobtrusive and discrete.
The boys at Basenotes are in a tizzy about it. LOL YMMV 😉
In a tizzy good, or in a tizzy bad? I still have not smelled it.
Itching for a fight tizzy. Testosterone, ya know? Multiple threads!
Ack. I will not fight over Sauvage, LOL…
So much for scent of the day for me.. but I still, still! can smell Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au thé bleu.
Lovely evening all!
I had forgotten to put anything on when I walked out the door this morning, so I fished a small decant of Boucheron EDT out of my purse and went with that. I’m not 100% sure why I even had it.. I think I was going to give it to my mom and then decided against it. Anyway, I almost regretted the choice this morning because the aldehydes (I think) were getting to me. It’s fine now, though.
Goodness, our school lunches looked better than that even in the 1980s.
Anyway, it’s still summer for awhile in my mind. Today I’m wearing Hermès Calèche Fleurs de Méditerranée, which had been forgotten on one of my shelves for far too many months.
